(Seventh Grade, May's POV)
Love…...love to me is being able to share anything with that special someone, a best friend, a supporter, your rock, your light.
For as long as i can remember, Drew and i were the best of friends, we've been inseparable since we were little kids and when he first moved next door.
Of course…..me and him didn't like each other from the start, infact, we hated each other, Drew was a little brat while he thought i wasn't lady enough, but after being forced on so many play dates we actually started to get along and eventually became close…..closer than anyones ever known.
We know secrets about each other….secrets no one has ever known about us, secrets only me and him have trusted to the other.
Now don't get me wrong, me and Drew aren't a couple, although everyone assumes it because of how we are, but i mean, thats just how best friends are, can you blame us?
But…..a relationship with Drew…...would actually seem nice, i haven't thought of it like like that.
I stared at him, he was sitting with the guys on the bench, waiting for us girls to be done shopping, they looked so hilarious, each of them packed with bags, well except Ash of course, he was the lucky one and the guys hated it.
He didn't have to carry any bags because Misty hated shopping, the only bags he ever carried were candy bags, Gary had the least bags to carry, then there was Drew who carried somewhat a decent amount of bags, he looked exhausted, they all did, except for Ash, although he still did…..too much candy.
Paul however…...yeah, i almost felt sorry for him…..his arms were literally shielded with bags that you couldn't even see the boys limbs, he looked just about ready to murder someone…..well…..it was nice knowing you Ash.
"So what do you think?" i spun around and saw Dawn emerging from the dressing room, she looked amazing, her dress was a light playful yellow with a pink metallic sash wrapped around the bodice, it was flowy and reached to her knees, the back had a large pink bow and the top was a one shoulder with tiny diamonds trailing up from it.
"It's perfect Dawn, it totally goes with the spring dance".
She squealed in excitement and tackled me and the girls into a hug, then she gasped.
"May? all of us found our dresses for the spring dance….except for you." she frowned, i giggled.
"It's fine, i'll just wear one of the dresses i have in my closet".
"No way! you have to show up to the dance in an outfit so dazzling that it will capture Drew's attention".
I doubt it matters, Drew says i look pretty in everything, even if i dressed like a bum he told me i looked good.
"Guys…...it's fine…...really". i smiled but they stood there, arms crossed and foots tapping, they grabbed me and pulled me into the dresser.
In just a matter of seconds i was wearing the most cutest dress ever, it was a passionate red color, it had long sleeves and it reached just below my neck but the back was open with a black bow across the midsection of my back, it reach just a little above the knees and it became even more fashionable when they added a cute black mini top hat, some thin tights and mini ankle boots did the trick as well.
"Chic…..yet fun and playful….i'm a genius". i chuckled, yes she is, she found this perfect outfit for me, i love it!
"Are you guys almost done? i had to stop Paul from choking Ash and stuffing chocolate down his throat".
"Alright, almost done". Leaf exited out of the dressing room to get Gary away before he starts peeking on girls like a perv.
I looked at Dawn, out of all of us she was the one gleaming the most, "Is the cherry blossom queen ready for her crown tomorrow?" i chuckled when she squealed.
"Aw c'mon you guys, we can't be for sure that i'm going to be the cherry blossom queen, besides, i'm up against Ursula and we all know how she is".
I rolled my eyes, ugh, Ursula and her clique are so annoying, no way Dawn is going to lose the crown to her, i placed my hand on Dawn's shoulder and reassured her with a smile, "Dawn, don't worry, you got this, and you can be certain you have mines and all of our friends votes as well".
She smiled back and gave me and Misty a hug, "What would i do without you guys".

"Are you guys ready for tomorrow?" Ash asked as he took a bite out of his chocolate.
"Eh, it's just a stupid dance". Paul shrugged as he held his palm under his chin.
"You guys better not mess up tomorrow". Drew took in a deep breath as he released.
Paul grunted, "We're not, you've been making us practice for a whole month, i wanted to punch you everyday since then just for forcing us to do this".
"Well…..glad to feel your love Paul…...anyways, tomorrows the big night, everything has to be perfect for the big moment".
Ash patted his back, "It will be".
(Night of the Spring Dance 3rd Person POV)
"Gah! My hair! it's hideous! i look like a troll!"
"Dawn calm down!"
"I can't! look at my hair!"
"Meow!"
"You just stepped on skitty!"
"Oops! Sorry Skitty!"
"meow….mew…"
"DAWN!"
The bluenette had stopped in her tracks, she looked side to side and saw Leaf and Misty dressed and ready to go, they were sitting on May's bed drinking a shake, May was behind picking skitty up and putting her down on her bed in the corner.
She put her hands on her hips and stared at Dawn assertively, "Dawn….we're all dressed and calm, but so far you're the only one freaking out, you stepped on poor skitty, you have to remain calm, here".
She grabbed Dawn's hand and led her to the front of her mirror and pushed her to sit down, "Leave this to us". Leaf and Misty joined her as they each held a comb, curler, and hair spray.
"We're totally going to blow the dance away".
"We look incredible".
They were standing side by side holding each others hands, there dress colors gave a similarity to that of a rainbow. Mays red dress was completed with knee high socks and red glittered high tops while her hair was straightened down.
Dawn's pink and yellow dress was completed with pink sparkly flats, her hair was bundled up messily but curled to give it the exact romantic look she wanted. Leaf's dress was lime colored, it was ruffled and poofy, almost like if it was a tutu, it sparkled under the light while the neckline was sweetheart shaped, it wasn't completed without her emerald necklace and green sparkly flats and hair waved out. Misty's dress was a mixture of blue and white, it had the same look as Leaf's but instead was halter topped, the skirt was white with baby blue on the bottom and top and a dark metallic blue sash around her waist encrusted with jewels, she wore extensions and had a beautiful shell hairclip covered in sapphires clipped to her hair, a silver starfish cuff was wrapped around her left wrist, and lastly,she wore blue glittered high tops.
There was a knock on the door, May's mother, "Dears? are you all ready to go? "
"Yes mom!"
"Yes Mrs. Maple!"
They rushed down the stairs and out to the front door where May's father was waiting, when they went out they saw May's dad inside his car and parked in front of the circular driveway.
"Alright, now you girls be good now". she smiled down as they nodded.
"we will, goodbye Mrs. Maple".
"Bye mom". she hugged the brunette as she and the girls went in the car.
"Hi Mr. Maple!"
"Hello girls, you look amazing".
"Thank you!"
May pointed straight ahead, "Off to the dance!"
(At the dance)
He kept staring at his watch, tapping his foot as he kept his arms crossed, he grunted and then sighed as he rolled his eyes.
"Dude….relax". Ash slapped him in the back, he glared at the raven haired boy who had returned with a drink in his hand.
Gary was checking himself out on the window of the building making sure his hair was perfect.
Paul was leaning against the wall, his hands in his pockets as he kept his eyes shut.
They all watched as people and their dates entered through the door and into the dance, "Guys, do i look good or what?" Gary winked at himself as he fixed the sleeves of his shirt.
The rest rolled their eyes, "Yes, you do, now shut up". grunted Paul.
Gary was wearing a pair of black pants, white shoes, a black dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a black vest over it and a green tie. Drew wore a pair of black pants and shoes with a red dress shirt and black tie. Ash wore a white dress shirt with a blue tie, black pants and white shoes to give him an edgy look. Paul wore a black dress shirt, a gray vest, a pink metallic tie, and black shoes and pants.
"You guys look good". there eyes turned to the front where the four of them were standing, there mouths slowly began opening but nothing was being said.
"You…...you guys look…...awesome". they giggled as Ash's cheeks began flaring.
"Well?…..let's go dance the night away!" Misty took Ash's hand and dragged him in.
"My lady?" Gary had kneeled before Leaf asking for her hand, she giggled playfully rolling her eyes.
"You dork". she gave her hand to him as he led her inside.
A smirk was on Paul's face as Dawn was making her way over to him, he held his hand out for her to take which she did, "Is the queen ready?"
"I will be".
"Don't worry, you got this". they were the last to leave, leaving only May and Drew left.
"You look amazing…..as always". he grabbed her hand squeezing it lightly in his.
Her ivory toned cheeks had turned pink, "Thanks".
"So how about we go and enjoy the night?" he moved to the side and with his free arm he pointed towards the entrance.
"I'd like that". she smiled and walked as he closely followed behind, their hands not parting at all.
When they entered into the building there jaws dropped and expressions heightened even more, the dance was more than they had expected, the room was dimmed, but their were bright lights flashing everywhere, curtains were draped around the walls while crystals and cherry blossoms hanged from the ceiling reflecting the light and creating streaks of rays to shine everywhere, Tables were set up on both sides of the halls packed with foods, sweets, and drinks, the tables were set all around while the dance floor was set in the middle and the Dj set up on stage playing the music.
It was packed with people, some were sitting and eating, others were standing and chatting with friends while the rest were dancing.
"Food! C'mon Mist!" this time it was him to drag the red head away.
"Look! a photo booth! let's go!" Leaf yanked Gary to the line waiting for the booth.
"Let's go dance!" Dawn had yanked Paul away but he held back making the bluenette yank extra hard just to make him move.
"I hate dancing….."
"Will you dance for me?" She made those puppy eyes, he sighed.
"Fine….just one dance".
"Hey Paul…" They both stopped to look at Drew.
"Don't forget". Both males nodded in understanding but left the girls clueless.
After Dawn and Paul had left May made a curious face towards Drew, "What was that about?"
"Just something". he smirked at her but she furrowed her brows lightly, obviously not liking this secret.
He pulled her into the dance where a new song had started to come, almost every girl in the building had squealed.
"I love this song!"
Suddenly the dance floor was jam packed with everybody dancing.
The group had come together in the center of the dance floor, the girls began swiping their hand forward and from side to side as they matched it with their hips movements, the guys were fist pumping forward two times and then began jumping in the air.

Every guy on the dance floor had started fist pumping to the beat as they took two steps forward, they dropped to the floor and then sprung back up, Gary had hunched over as Ash jumped across him leaping high and landing with a roll as he quickly stood up blowing a playful kiss at Misty who along with all the girls on the dance floor were swaying to the beat and watching the males.

Paul had jumped up while Drew slid on his knees from under stopping just inches away from May, a rose in his hand as he held it up for her, the girls went wild at the couples moment.
"A rose for the pretty lady". She giggled and took it, he quickly grabbed her hand and stood up twirling her into his arms and then picking her up in to the air while spinning her around.

The crowd on the dance floor only began to get bigger as more people joined, Drew looked at his watch and then twirled May once more before letting go and making her bump into the girls who caught her, she shook her head and then looked around at the crowd, the sight of his green hair was nowhere to be found, he yanked Paul away when Dawn spun around making her wonder where the purple headed boy had gone too, and then dragged Gary and Ash away as Misty and Leaf's backs were turned.

The girls suddenly found each other, each searching in a different location for the boys but they were nowhere to be found.
"where did they go?" Dawn pouted.
"Drew would never do something like this?" May frowned, looking down at the rose he previously gave her.
Suddenly the lights had shut off, girls had shrieked in fright while the four of them had grabbed each others hands, their hearts racing and beating dangerously at what was going on.
A single light had lit down on the stage, the Dj was gone, but in his place were a group of guys, there backs were facing the audience as they stood in a single row.
The girls had moved up to the front of the stage to get a closer look but were quickly bombarded by squealing girls.
Suddenly a slow beat had started to play, almost like if it was the piano.

The row had split in the middle allowing Gary to enter from the left, Ash from the right, and Paul from the left again, then they opened up the path for Drew who came onto the stage, a grin only made for May. His voice was amazing as he held his hand out towards her and held the other against his heart.

They all moved in sync, they slid to the right and then swayed from side to side as they each pointed down at a certain individual girl, the crowd of girls went wild for them, Drew walked down the left side of the stage tapping his foot and grabbing his collar then pulling it forward as he gave the crowd a devilish grin.

He was in the middle again and along with the rest had held his hand up, their index fingers and thumbs pinched together as they tugged in the air as if pulling a rope or switch.

They bundle up into a group with Paul, Gary, Ash and Drew leading in the front, they pointed down and then stopped, looking at the sea of girls they winked and gave them a flirty grin as they switched and then pointed up, they kept moving their fingers up and then moving their bodies up and down simultaneously, May watched in excitement, her eyes only glued to Drew as they gleamed with amazement, little by little he kept stealing stares from her, smiling every time they made contact.

They stepped to the left and then to the right creating a loud stomping noise with their shoes against the hardwood floor, they brushed the side of their outfits and then quickly placed their finger over their lips as they stood in place but moved their bodies forward and then in a circular motion.

He walked up to the edge of the stage holding his hand out for May to grab as he helped her up, paul did the same with Dawn, Misty jumped on stage with the help of Ash while Leaf was picked up by Gary. The dance was no longer the same as everyone went free style, the girls shaking their heads wildly and waving their arms.

May and Drew continued to hold hands as they slowly swinged them, she stood in place but twisted her body lightly from side to side letting her dress go with the flow, a graceful smile was printed on to her lips as she kept staring at him lovingly, their eyes had never taken off each other as he kept singing to her, he placed his hand over his heart again smiling back.

As he sang the final words he began kneeling on one knee, five males had appeared from behind holding giant bouquets of roses, they surrounded the two in a circle holding the bouquets out towards May who had her hands over her mouth standing in shock.
The others stood on the side watching the scene before them, the girls squealing quietly and happily for the brunette while the boys stood there grinning at Drew's actions.
"May, you're my best friend, and many people consider us to be the cutest couple even though we're not one, but…...i'd like us to be…..will you be my girlfriend?"
She looked at the crowd and then at her friends, the girls nodded excitingly, she looked down at Drew who waited, she laughed a bit and then nodded.
He quirked an eyebrow, "Is that a yes?"
she nodded again, "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend".
He pulled her into a hug as the entire room clapped for them.
Dawn squealed, "That is the cutest thing ever!"
"Eh, second cutest". Paul shrugged.
She tilted her head in confusion, "what do you mean?"
He pulled out a beautiful gold crown covered in cherry blossoms and pink diamonds, he placed it over her head as she tried to contain her screams of excitement, but she gasped covering her mouth to hold it.
"Paul…...did you steal the crown?"
He smirked, "It's not stealing if you won it fairly".
Two lights had lit down on Drew and May and the other on Dawn and Paul, the crowd continued clapping, but Dawn had stepped away letting the moment belong to May, they looked into each others eyes before sharing a kiss on stage.
(Present Day May and Drew)
"Put me down!"
The stares from everybody in the halls didn't bother him the least as he kept a tight grip on May who he had over his shoulder.
"You know, you're not a very good runner in heels, i mean, you're lucky that trip you had near the stairs wasn't fatal".
"Shut up and put me down".
"Nope…." he looked at each door down the hall until he found the one with May's name engraved on it.
He kicked it open and then kicked it back close locking it in the process, he threw her softly onto the couch where she grunted and angrily glared at him, her nostrils flared, brows furrowed, and nails digging into the cushion had made him feel uneasy but he didn't show it.
"Glare at me all you want, i should be the one glaring at you instead".
There was an obvious hate in her tone, "Oh? And why should i care for a strangers glare?"
He sighed roughly, "I'm not a stranger, you obviously know me".
She laughed tauntingly, "Used to…...is the correct term, but now i don't and chose to forget".
"Look, hate me all you want but i can't stand here and watch you make a fool out of yourself".
"Fool? Last time i checked, the crowd loved me, theres nothing foolish about that".
She rushed to the door ready to unlock it, but he stood up shouting, "It's foolish when you're standing on stage flashing yourself like a stripper"!
There was a sudden silence, before he knew it, his head was turned to the side, a dark red mark was implanted on his cheek as he felt a stinging burning sensation, the look on his face definitely meant he didn't expect what he got.
She stood in front of him, holding her hand up as her palm was pink, she kept her mouth shut tightly as she rolled her lips inwards to prevent any noises from escaping her, her eyes were watery but tears had yet to fall.
"I'm…..i'm sorry…..i didn't mean to say it like that".
"Yeah, you did".
"I-i just don't understand what you're doing here, in a place like this?"
"What do you care for?"
"I just am, and i'm not leaving until you tell me everything".
"Yes, you are, i'll give you two options, to leave on your own will or to be thrown out by security, which is it?"
"Neither". they both made eyes at the phone on the table near the door, they both took off rushing to it but Drew got to it first holding it up in the air making her jump for it but she wasn't close to reaching.
He yanked the cord out ripping it from the plug and throwing it away, "I'm. not. leaving."
She digged her hands into her hair releasing a high pitched shriek that was sounded out through her gritted teeth.
"Why can't you just leave?!"
"Do all you want but i'm not leaving". he sat back down crossing his legs and arms while presenting a smirk.
"Fine then".
She crossed her arms walking over to the dressing screen located on the other side of the room, she went behind it letting him witness her shadow from the other side.
He sat up straight, gulping as he looked away but then turned his eyes back to it.
"So what is it you want to know?" She took off her hat and flung it to the side placing one of her legs on the chair in front, she started rolling her boot down taking it off and then doing the same with the other.
He tried averting his eyes from the screen but found himself unable to resist, and coughed for unknown reasons.
"well…..the main question, What are you doing here? and why?"
"That;s actually two you moron". He could hear her already irritated by him, he scooted to the edge of the couch when he noticed she was unzipping the back of her corset and slipping herself out of it.
His entire face was burning and turning red as he realized she was completely, totally, naked just on the other side.
"If you really want to know, i found myself wandering through the street, i was feeling down that day and ended up at the karaoke bar down the street hogging the microphone and making myself known as the spotlight whore, a man, the owner of this burlesque club, happened to be there and offered me a job, of course i had to be 18 to take it but i lied, i mean i turn 18 in a couple of months, so it's nothing bad, and as you know….unless you forgot, i love to sing and perform but never could in school, so i figured i might as well do it here where people seem to love me and my voice".
"How could i forget, you've always had an amazing voice, but still, why waste it here in this place?"
"I prefer to keep my performance skills a secret".
He kept staring at the silhouette of her body showing through the screen, she arched her back tying her hair up as it seemed and then grabbing another piece of clothing and dressing herself.
"May, you have amazing talent, don't waste in this place, why don't you join choir at school or become like a vocal coach?"
She appeared from behind dressed in the outfit she wore earlier that morning, "You know what Drew? We may have been friends a long time ago but that doesn't give you the right to think you can just come in here act like nothings wrong and then give me advice, it's my life, my choice and i'm going to live it how i want to".
He sprung up from the couch, clenching his hands into his fists as he challenged her glare, "Friends? we were more than friends, we were best friends, girlfriend and boyfriend, we were close back then, and just because we drifted apart doesn't mean i don't care about you, i still do, more than you know".
"Oh really? is that why you never bothered to make things work with us? or why you never bothered to find me at school and say hi? no! and i'm actually glad about it because i wouldn't want to be caught next to you by anyone".
He couldn't hold it in, he punched the wall breaking a hole in it, she flinched but then continued with her mad stare, she sighed and shook her head making her way to the door but he ran and quickly blocked it.
"I already told you what you wanted to know now get out of my way!"
"No way! May, i'm going to make things right between us, whether you like it or not, i was a coward not to back then, but now i'm going to do the right thing".
She was doing it again, rolling her lips in and keeping them shut tight as she held back her tears, she took in a deep breath and spoke, "Drew….what you did to me back then….broke my heart, it was unforgivable and something i'll never be able to forget, you know why? because it scarred my heart".
He had lost sight of everything, his eyes went blank and mouth was opened but nothing happened, he had that look of pure guilt yet it was asking for forgiveness, she shook her head and moved him aside as she went out the door.
"Good bye Drew".
He made another fist, and lightly slammed it against the wall as he pressed his head against it as well, he took in a deep breath and then stood up straight.
"No….no more goodbyes". he rushed out the door and caught up to her, he picked her up once more over his shoulder making her scream.
"Drew what the hell?! put me down!"
"No, i'm not letting this happen again".
She kept flailing her arms and legs but eventually gave up when she got tired, once again the stares he received didn't bother him at all, he pushed the doors open and walked to his car opening the passenger door and shoving her in, he kept it locked which prevented her from getting out.
"Are you seriously kidnapping me?"
"Yup" he started the car up.
"Where do you plan to take me now?" She rolled her eyes slumping as far as she could in her seat.
"A place made for us".
she stayed quiet after that and allowed herself to go with it, after a couple of minutes they ended up in front of large building packed with bright lights and a long line. He parked in front and opened the door for her taking her by the hand, she refused but couldn't release from the tight grip.
The large man standing in front of the door nodded once he took a look at the two and allowed them access inside, she looked around at the crowded floor, people sitting in the table and bar moving their heads to the singing of the person on stage.
Once the male standing on the stage finished he bowed to the crowd as they clapped and made his way off, then another man went on, "Wow! that guy was horrible! So do we have any actual singers in the crowd, you know, the ones who won't make our ears bleed?" the crowd laughed.
"C'mon". He yanked her as he pushed his way through the heavy crowd, "right here!" he raised his and hers hand into the air, the man pointed down at them.
"Oh! looks like we have a duet going on in here!"
They got on stage where May tried to take off but was still in the grip of Drew, "Is your girlfriend shy?"
"Uh I'm not his girlfriend". she hissed at the man, he held his hands up defensively, "woah, bro you got a feisty one". She rolled her eyes.
He handed them both a microphone which they took, the man looked at them both "ready?" they both nodded.
"Alright! Let's get our karaoke on!" he shot a fist in the air as the music started.

He was mad at the sight, the males were going crazy for her, he jumped jumped off the stage and leaned towards one of the females sitting up front, he took her hand and kissed it gently making her faint in the process.

She stomped his foot making him release her, she almost fell to the ground but was caught by two of the guys sitting up front, she kissed them both on the cheek as they set her back on stage, she strutted around the stage flipping her hair as she rolled her eyes and stuck her hand out to Drew.

They faced opposite ends of the stage and then spun around making there way to the center where they stood inches away from the other, the tension between their eye contact was fierce and entertaining for the audience.

She stopped and then shook her head * what are you doing May?" handing the microphone to the girl next to her who took over for voice, she made her way past the crowd and out of sight.

The entire club was pumped, everyone was cheering and clapping, "Wow! amazing voices by these two amazing singers! give it up for them!" He grabbed Drew and pulled him up beside the girl who was now holding the mic.
"May?" he looked from where he was but couldn't catch a glimpse of her whereabouts throughout the club.
"Shit". he jumped off the stage and took off towards the entrance.
when he made it outside of the building he still didn't see her, just the bouncer and line of people waiting to go in.
He was panting, he crouched down placing his hands on his knees as he caught his breath, "May!"
He quickly made his way in his car, slamming his hand on the steering steel.
"where did you go?"
