(Seventh Grade Misty and Ash)
Dark as it was in the middle of the night, four figures had rounded up near the schools popular spot, the figures? May, Drew, Paul, and Dawn, suddenly two more figures appeared, Leaf and Gary.
"Where's Misty and Ash?" Dawn asked as she held her flashlight up to her face.
The rest shrugged, looking at one another clueless.
He kept running through the streets, avoiding being seen by older authorities who could catch him and take him back home, he stopped when he reached his intended destination, a large black metal gate with the initials WF on it, he stopped when he was about to press the buzzer and pressed himself against the wall when a houndoom came running to the gate.
He looked up and saw the wall was that high, he could climb it, and he did, but the jump down seemed deeper, so he crawled his way around the wall until he made it to the left wing of her house.
He jumped off and went running towards the wallflower growing beside the house before being caught by one of the houndooms sleeping nearby, he climbed it and stopped when he reached the window on the second floor, he peeked over and saw Misty, sleeping soundly in her bed.
He hopped over grabbing the ledge of the window and climbing it, when he jumped in she became startled by the thumping his feet had created, she rolled over pulling a bat from underneath her bed.
"Who are you!"
He held his hands up defensively, "Mist! it's me!" he whispered loud enough for her to hear.
She lowered her bat putting her hand over her heart as she released her breath, "Ash, you scared the sand out of me!"
"Sorry, but did you forget?" she tilted her head confusingly.
"Forget what?"
"Today, the cave, midnight". Her eyes widened.
She took a deep breath in and then twiddled her fingers nervously, "Um….do you really think this is a good idea? I mean nobody has been in that cave for years and what if something happens to us….i-i mean i don't what i would do if something horrible happened to the girls or to the guys or….you". she frowned.
"Are you scared?"
She quickly retorted back with a backlashing voice but quickly toned her voice down, "No!...i-i mean….no, but i mean this does seem dangerous…".
"Wow Mist…" he seemed taken aback.
"You always seemed like the tough tomboy to me, if you're scared just say so, i'll protect you". he seemed concerned now, she shook her head and ran into the closet coming back out in a new outfit.
"I am tough, and i'm not scared, i'm not a sissy Ash ketchum, C'mon, i bet the rest of the group is already waiting".
He took her hand and led her out onto the window and down the hedges carefully, he jumped out landing safely beside her, she gasped but held it in.
"what's a matter with you! that's dangerous!". He shot her a goofy grin, and then took her hand again.
"Don't worry, i'm good with stuff like this now c'mon". he ran off with her following closely behind, she held her hand out when the houndoom started chasing them but they stopped and quietly sat down, watching as the two climbed on the wall and disappeared behind.
After a couple of minutes running through the streets they made it to the spot where everybody was still waiting.
"About time, where the heck were you guys?" May growled.
"May's a bit hungry, don't mind her".
"Sorry guys, i slept in". Misty sheepishly laughed.
"well, at least we're all here now, so let's get going". Leaf pulled out her flashlight as the rest did as well.
Ash led the way, "It's this way, johnny from fifth period told me this cave hasn't been explored in years and is supposedly haunted".
Paul humphed, "Isn't johnny also the one who said he saw bigfoot bathing in the pond?"
"Yeah…..what's your point?"
"Nothing….just….nothing". the purplette face palmed.
They went down hill, the girls were sticking close to the guys, May had locked arms with Drew, Dawn was holding hands with Paul, Leaf was grabbing onto Gary's hood and tugging onto it as she hid behind him, he was trying his best not to choke, Misty however was the only one not afraid, at least, she wanted everyone else to think she wasn't.
Ash flashed his light around the trees as they passed the pond and entered the forest fields, he stole a quick peek at Misty who was beside him, he could see her hand slightly trembling.
"You ok Mist?"
she looked over at him flashing a smile, "Of course, why wouldn't i be?"
"Because your hand is trembling".
"I'm just cold".
"Here" he yanked her hand and pulled her in in front of him, he wrapped his hands around her as he placed his chin on her shoulder and continued flashing his light side to side, her face was turning red and she was burning up but it went unnoticed since they were in the dark.
Dawn's squeal had startled the group "Awwwww! Look at how Ash is holding Misty! that is so fetch!"
"what the heck is fetch?" Leaf quirked her brow and tilted her head in curiousity, Dawn shrugged.
"It's a slang word from Kanto".
Misty then looked at Ash who seemed unfazed by Dawn's response, She quickly pulled herself away making him wonder why.
"what's wrong?"
"Nothing, i'm all warmed up now". she laughed weakly, she turned to look at the girls who made that face saying 'Sure you are'.
"I see the cave". He ran towards the small opening near a rocky hill, the rest tried keeping up but he was speeding up.
They all stopped when they reached the entrance, flashing their lights inside but all that showed was pitch blackness, the girls held on tighter, Misty held on tighter to her flashlight feeling it slowly grip away from her sweaty palms.
Ash took her hand into his, she looked at him, at his always comforting grin, she couldn't help but grin back and let him lead her in as the rest stuck close behind.
They continuously flashed their lights from left to right but all they kept seeing were rocky walls and a dirt floor, "Ahhhh!" all the girls had shrieked furiously when they heard a large growl coming from the other end of the cave.
Leaf tried running away while dragging Gary by his hood which only choked him harder, "Argh! L-leaf!...sturp!" he gurgled out.
May ran after her and pulled her back in, they hugged each other in fright as Gary gained composure and stood protectively in front of them with Drew.
"P-paul…...what was that?" Dawn whimpered frighteningly, he held her tightly in his arms as she buried her face into chest.
"Nothing, don't worry, i won't let anything happen to you, i promise".
Misty and Ash slowly turned to each other, there eyes wide and still somewhat in shock, "M-maybe…..maybe there really is a ghost in this cave". she gulped loudly.
Ash quickly stuck out his arm and softly pushed Misty behind him, Paul had released Dawn and allowed both girls to grab onto each other as he joined Ash up front to block them safely, Gary and Drew moved to the back so that all the girls were now in the middle and possibly out of harms way.
"Maybe johnny from fifth period wasn't as stupid as we thought". Gary mumbled, the girls looked back at him, their faces completely fear stricken, "Ow!" he glared over at Drew who punched him in the face, making that face telling him to keep his mouth shut.
"Don't worry girls…" Ash looked back at them with a comforting smile, he grabbed his backpack and dug inside of it pulling out a clear crystal bottle full with what looked like water.
"What is that?" Misty asked curiously.
"Holy water". they stopped walking, all eyes were on him.
"You brought Holy water?" Drew quirked an eyebrow, he nodded and kept digging inside his pack and pulled out several more items.
Each of the group members had grabbed the items he gave to them, Misty got the Holy water, Dawn received a cross stake, Leaf got a chain made entirely of silver, May was given a bible, Paul got a small torch with a lighter, Drew got a bottle of salt and Gary was given a garlic chain.
"Um…...i don't even have words for this". Leaf face palmed.
"Hey…..hold up, why does Paul get a torch and lighter and i only get a smelly garlic chain?" Gary frowned.
Paul rolled his eyes, "First of all, i'm awesome, second, i won't burn myself, and third, i won't set fire to other people's houses unless its of supernatural possession ".
Everyone else agreed as they nodded in synch, Gary crossed his arms and glared at them, "It was only one time, by the way Ash i'm sorry again for almost burning down your house". he mumbled hoping nobody heard, but they did.
"It's ok, although my mom still says you're not allowed over for another year because our kitchen is still black".
"I offered to pay it". He shrugged.
"And you did, but then you set our kitchen on fire again".
"And then i offered to pay for it AGAIN".
"My mom said she's not taking anymore chances".
"Well….if she ever wants that kitchen done again my gramps said he'll pay for it anytime".
"Guys! we came here for a supernatural experience, not to chat about burnt kitchens
". Misty snapped her fingers to get them to focus.
"Mist is right, c'mon guys". he lead the way with Paul as everybody else held on tight to their "weapons"
"From what it looks like…..it seems as if we're going into battle with Vampires, witches, ghosts, and werewolves". Dawn exclaimed wearily.
Drew tilted his head, "Hey Ash, why aren't you carrying anything"?
He turned back to them and flashed them a smirk, "Oh...i am". he dug back into his pack and pulled out a cross bow, all of their jaws had dropped open in shock.
"Those Archery lessons i took will finally pay off". he chuckled holding the bow and arrow weapon close to his face for preparation.
After about half an hour of walking through the cave everybody had begun to get bored, May sighed as she turned the page of her bible and just walked with the group, Misty was staring at the bottle of Holy water as if it were the most interesting thing in the world, Gary was peeling the garlic skin while Drew left a trail of salt behind. Leaf whipped the silver chain around twirling it as fast as she could, Paul kept flicking the lighter on while Ash still seemed the most intrigued and wary about the cave.
Dawn sighed as she twirled the wooden stake in her fingers, "Guys, we've been walking straight on for hours now, we're never going to find anything".
"She's right Ash". Misty frowned.
He stopped, as did the rest, he lowered his crossbow down and then sighed, "Yeah, you're right".
"It was fun while it lasted though". Misty smiled leaning against the rocky wall. She kicked the dirt floor not noticing the ghostly hands coming out of the wall, everybody had stood frozen in fear, their eyes wide as they can be.
She quirked an eyebrow tilting her head, "What…..why are you guys making those faces?"
Ash shook his head finally coming to, "Misty watch out!" He reached out for her but she pulled away from the wall and turned around only to see the shadowy hands reaching for her.
She shrieked, shutting her eyes in the process as her body tensed up, "Ahh!"
Before any of them were able to grab a hold of her, the floor beneath the redhead had crumbled apart allowing her to fall below.
The girls gasped as they covered their mouths, there eyes tearing up at what they just witnessed, Paul and the boys blocked their views so they wouldn't freak out anymore, Ash screamed for her, "Misty!" and heard her in response, "Ash! help!" without even thinking he jumped into the hole dropping after her, "I'm coming Mist!"
"Ash!" Paul and the boys had reached to grab him before he could jump in but they were too late, only allowing themselves to topple over as they lost balance.
"what are we going to do?!" May had begun hyperventilating, her breathing had become rapid as she looked completely freaked out.
"I-i just can't believe this happened". Dawn took her head between her palms and tried to keep herself calm but was finding it hard to do so, she took in a deep breath and leaned against the other wall only to fall through it and disappear.
May and Leaf screamed their lungs out and hugged each other from fear, "Dawn!"
"Dawn! No!" Paul's expression had completely changed, his once cold attitude had changed to worry and fear, he ran after her and through the wall disappearing as well.
"Paul!" the rest of the guys ran after them and tried to go through the wall with the girls but were only met with a cold hard stone wall causing them to fall back on the floor.
"There...there gone, oh my arceus what are we going to do ?! something is trying to take us away and it already took Misty, Ash, Dawn, and Paul!" Leaf frantically paced back and forth digging her hands into her hair and shaking her head in denial.
May sat on the floor also digging her fingers into her hair as she stared down at the ground sobbing and letting her tears come out.
"Whatever it is coming after our friends and us, i'm not going to let it do anything to you girls". Drew knelt beside Me, pulling her into a comforting grasp, she shuffled his way and wrapped her arms around him as she kept crying.
"Drew and i promise, we won't let anything happen to you guys". Gary kept watching Leaf pace back and forth, he sighed and grabbed her hand pulling her close by his side, he had one hand around her waist and the other around her head letting her bury her face to his chest and release her tears.
Drew and Gary looked back at each other, their faces said it all, fear, worry, unsureness, and utter confusion, suddenly, without warning, both couples had flashed away in the blink of light.
It was dark, Ash could tell the place was hollow, he felt like he was falling for an eternity, he couldn't see anything except pitch blackness, "Misty!" he began breathing rapidly as he forced himself faster down.
"Ash!" Misty screamed back only to make him worry more when he heard the sound of gurgling and then no other response back.
Without even knowing he was impacted with sheer coldness, water, he swam further down even though he didn't know what awaited him, he just had to find her.
Thoughts raced into his mind, *Misty…...hang on* His eyes were open but he was still met with darkness, that is until he saw a small glowing light on the other side of the water, the more he swam towards it the more brighter it got, when he finally reached for it, it had turned into several more lights.
They reflected through his light brown eyes and quickly blinded him only for him to suddenly gain vision again, when he was able to see, he saw the most enchanting scene ever.
Dozens of Chinchous and lanturns were swimming around him, illuminating the entire water floor he was able to see everything crystal blue, he felt himself getting dizzy and quickly swam back up to catch his breath, once he did he was suddenly stunned to find himself in the center of an underground lake, the cave was huge yet deeply old.
He looked at the water surface around him only to see it glowing from the pokemon, he took in a deep breath and swam back down turning his head from side to side hoping to see a glimpse of orange hair.
"Chinchou" he was poked by one of the pokemons antennas, when he gave it its full attention it used its lights to point to a certain direction for him to swim, he followed it only to find himself staring at the orange haired girl unconscious on a coral reef, she was being shielded in a large air bubble by all of the surrounding pokemon.
His eyes widened in horror as he saw her unconscious and pale, he quickly swam towards her and took her body into his arms as he made his way to the surface being followed by all the pokemon.
When he reached the edge of the lake he placed her body on the floor and then climbed onto the cold hard ground to kneel beside her, he noticed each of the pokemon popping their heads out to watch what happened, he was shocked to find their faces expressing sadness.
He grabbed her shoulder lightly and shook her, "Misty….mist wake up….please".
She didn't respond, he hung his head shielding his face from the water creatures, his voice became weak and shaky, the tone had begun to crack "I'm sorry Misty…...i should have protected you with everything, we never should have come here".
There was silence for a couple of seconds, he was then squirted in the face with water reawakening the boy from his sad state.
"No…" he held back his tears and tightened his fists, he leaned over her and pinched the bridge of her nose tilting her head slightly back, he connected his lips with hers and gave his breath to her, her chest slowly rose and he pulled back a bit to see if she responded, but nothing, he tried again and again for a third time until he heard a gasp and was pushed off by MIsty when she rose up to catch her breath.
"Wha…...what happened?!" she began panting furiously and frantically looking around at where she and Ash were.
"You fell through a hole and i jumped in after you".
She looked at him with a stunned expression, "Y-you…...you did?"
He nodded, flashing her his signature grin but then it faded into a frown, "I'm sorry Misty…...for getting you into this".
She shook her head, "Don't be, we wanted adventure and so far…..this seems pretty adventurous". she threw herself at him and hugged him tightly, he looked taken aback but then held her tightly just as well, "I'm just glad you saved me Ash….thank you". he felt himself turning red but quickly calmed himself down.
"But…..where are we? And….how do we get out?" she questioned deeply concerned at the situation.
"I don't know…" he shrugged but before he could say anything else both him and Misty had disappeared through that same light.
They reappeared in a different cave, only this time, the rest of the group was their, when they looked back and saw the two of them they rushed over to them.
"Misty! I'm so glad you're ok!" Dawn hugged her.
"We were so worried!" May and Leaf joined in.
The guys regrouped and began strategizing, "What the hell's going on?" Paul ran a hand through his hair sighing in frustration.
Drew crossed his arms, "I don't know, but whatever it is, it's not good".
"We underestimated Johnny from fifth period….well played Johnny….well played". Gary shifted his eyes suspiciously, the rest of the guys face palmed.
"Ahh!" the girls hairs stood up from fright when another terrifying roar echoed through the walls, the guys quickly encircled them in the center as they kept a look out for what was behind the noises.
Before they knew it all of them had disappeared from the cave and reappeared in the front entrance, they floated in mid air before gravity took its toll pushing them all down on one another, there groans of pain had begun sounding like a song.
"What…..the…..hell…...just happened?" Leaf mumbled.
"Supernatural entities that's what". Paul growled rubbing his head, he got back on his feet stepping on Gary over the Process "Ow!" he helped Dawn along and then the rest of the group.
When they dusted themselves off they quickly found themselves shuddering from the shrilly, cringe worthy laughs and chuckles echoing from within the cave.
"Nope, nope nope nope". May shook her head repeatedly and swiped her arms back and forth as she began walking away from the group.
Drew sighed, "She's in Denial now". he ran after her.
"Let's get out of here!" Leaf jumped into Gary's arms bridal style where as he took off as fast as he could.
Paul crouched down letting Dawn climb onto his back and then followed after the rest of the group, Ash looked over at Misty who seemed pale, he took her hand once more which seemed to startle her, "Are you sure you're ok?" She nodded and then flashed him a smile.
"I'm tougher than you know, probably way tougher than you". she winked playfully, he laughed.
"Oh yeah?" she nodded, suddenly they both jumped and screamed when another pair of chilling laughs came from inside the cave.
"Race ya then"! he sprinted with all his might sporting Misty to do the same.
"Oh no you don't"!
(Present Misty and Ash)
She sat there, eyes wide, mouth hanging open along with all the other females standing beside her watching.
His taped fists and feet were making hit after hit on the punching bag, it was swinging high into the air after every hit, he spun around doing a back kick sending the bag racing down the zip and hitting the wall.
His face was doused in sweat, his white muscle shirt was drenched and soaked while tiny droplets rested on his wild hair, he kept staring at the bag furiously, putting all his attention on it as he tried to relax his heavy breathing.
He didn't even pay attention to all the females praising him, he grabbed his towel and dabbed it onto his face.
"Ash…...kickboxing"? she mumbled dumbfounded.
The old man standing beside her seemed to have a pleasant smile on his face as he leaned on his cane, "Oh yes, Ash is one of the best boxers in my gym, he's been training for almost six years already and has several titles under himself".
"Does….does he do anything else besides box?" she seemed awfully interested rubbing her neck casually and stealing quick glances of Ash.
"Oh yeah! when he's not here he's usually playing soccer, baseball, or football with the guys down at the park and if not that, then he's skating down at the skate park or swimming in the pool, besides that he'll occasionally be at the gym as well or playing with the kids at the park".
"Wow….he does all that?" she released a breath of air obviously impressed at the raven haired boys talent.
He kicked the punching bag once more letting it knock over the heavy equipment beside it, the females swooned over the move, each of them sighing in a love stricken manner.
"Alright ladies! you came here to learn how to defend yourselfs not swoon over my boy over here!" shouted one of the instructors, the females quickly dispersed leaving only Ash, Misty, and the old man, but he had just patted Ash's back before heading off leaving only the two teens by themselves.
He had his usual goofy grin dabbing his towel on his head to clean off the sweat, "Sorry for making you wait".
She shook her head, "It's not big deal, i'm really impressed though….i never knew you were a boxer".
He chuckled, "I don't like bragging, besides it's just hobby, nothing special". he took a drink from his water but quickly spit it out when Misty scowled at him.
"Nothing special?! Ash if you're a natural athlete then you definitely have to join the schools teams, you can take them all to the regional championship".
"I don't know about that, but i do want to join the school's sports teams, the only thing is that the last time i tried to join i was rejected because i didn't seem like the athletic type, no matter what they will always judge you". he shook his head and walked away.
She sighed and then walked ahead of him standing in front to block him, "And that's what i was telling you earlier, Ash i know what's like to be judged, i get it a lot, people have always seen me as this tomboy tough person who likes to roughhouse and play like one of the guys…...but for once i want to show everyone that i am a girl, that i can be feminine, i want to end my senior year with everyone knowing i am Misty Waterflower…..a sensational sister".
"I always thought of you as a tomboy, you were tough…...does that mean". she nodded.
"Even if i am tough i was always seen that way, by you, and the girls, and the rest of the guys, in some way i guess i was never the vision for feminism".
He began staring at the ground, he then began rubbing his neck and lifted his head back up smiling up at her, "I think i know someone who can definitely help us".
She tilted her head, a bit confused as to who this person could be, "Who?"
(Ash's house)
He opened the door allowing the redhead to enter first, he settled his skateboard and gym bag near the door but was quickly met with a hug once he turned around.
"Oooh! there's my little boy! how was practice?" she cooed keeping him locked tight in her hug, Misty giggled at the love causing him to blush in red tone.
"Mom….can we not do this here?" he sighed, attempting to pull away from the older brown haired lady, but she proved to be a challenge.
She kissed his forehead and then released her grasp on him, "And who's this?" she smiled widely, turning back to see who he brought, she gasped and then covered her mouth with her hand.
"Oh dear Arceus….a girl…..you brought home a girl!" she spun around in pure excitement singing her words now, he smacked his forehead looking away from embarrassment, Misty however was smiling weakly, unsure what to make of the situation.
She stood there, she rose one hand up to wave slightly and then chuckled wearily, "Hi Mrs. Ketchum…..i'm guessing you don't remember me"?
The brunette stood still, she looked extremely confused but also seemed as if she was pushing herself awfully hard on trying to remember, Misty chuckled, "It's me…..Misty".
She gasped again causing her to flinch, "Misty! Oh dear i haven't seen you in ages! My! what a woman you have blossomed into, you sweetie are just beautiful!".
She blushed from the compliments, "Thank you Delia".
She spun around again, and then chirped all the way to the kitchen, "Oh what a wonderful day today is! My little boy brought home a girl! and it's Misty! and she's beautiful!"
They could hear her continuously talk and blabber on in the kitchen, he sighed and then pinched the bridge of his nose, "Moms…..what can you do about them, right?"
"Your mom hasn't changed a bit, she's still as bubblier and happy as she was back then, not to mention beautiful, she hasn't aged a bit".
He laughed, "yeah, only this time she won't stop bugging me about getting a girlfriend and bringing her home for her to meet, she has this big hope of me getting married soon in the future and then bringing her future grandchildren, i think i need to get her a pet for the time being".
Misty giggled at the thought, "Tell me about it, Daisy, Violet, and Lily constantly bug me about boys, they think somethings wrong with me since i don't have a boyfriend yet".
Before he could speak they were interrupted by Delias voice down the hall from the kitchen, "Ash? Misty? can you two come here for a minute?"
They looked at each other and then shrugged following with the woman's request, when they entered the kitchen they were met with utter destruction, flour was on the floor, counters and table tops, even she was coated in flour, they couldn't hold back and bursted into laughter, she frowned.
"Mom…...what happened?"
She puffed out her cheeks and blew out the flour that was in her mouth, "Well….since we have such a lovely guest over i wanted to make something delicious, and then i remembered dessert and was going to make a nice chocolate cake…...but i tripped and fell while holding the bag of flour and then this happened".
"Don't worry Mrs. Ketchum, we'll help you clean up". she grabbed one of the cloths hanging from the stove handle and then gave the broom to Ash.
"Thank you Misty…...oh dear…...i think the kitchen looked much better with flour painted everywhere…..i almost forgot the place was half burnt". she giggled, Misty couldn't help but smile as she stared at the black smog smeared ceiling and walls.
"I'm guessing this was from Gary's doing?" Ash chuckled nervously as he nodded.
She pouted, "It's been more than three years since this happened and for some reason i can never find the time to call in the experts to fix it".
"Oh! that also reminds me Ash, where are your other friends? Paul, Drew and Gary? and Misty whatever happened to Dawn, May and Leaf?" She seemed to sound a little irritated when she mentioned Gary, Ash avoided contact with her.
They stayed quiet after that, the woman frowned but also seemed to understand what that meant, Misty's voice had become somewhat saddened, "Um…..we actually haven't spoken to them in years, well….that is until today…...that's when me and Ash saw each other again and started talking".
She sat them down on the table with snacks and drinks joining them, "I honestly don't know what went wrong with all of you kids, you were the best of friends, everyday you guys spent it with each other". she sighed and then shook her head.
"Mom…..you've already had your high school experience, i'm sure you understand the struggles a teen goes through, sometimes we lose friends and sometimes we don't, in our case i guess we did".
Misty stared into her drink as she twirled her straw in it, "I never really understood how we could all just…..erase each other from our lives…..we went through so much together".
He stared at her, the atmosphere had turned dim as he continued watching her look into her drink sadly.
"Yeah…..but". he slowly began lifting her head and stared into his eyes.
"It's never too late to get the group back together".
A barely noticeable smile had curved into her lips, as well as his, A wide smile appeared on Delias as she watched back and forth between the two teens.
"But first, there's something we both need to do". he rose up out of his seat prompting the redhead to do the same.
He looked down at his mom who seemed once again clueless, "Mom…..you're probably one of the most girliest females i know….so Misty and i have a favor to ask".
She stood up this time only to take Misty's hand in hers, "Anything for you kids".
"Mrs. Ketchum…...i need your help on how to become girly".
"Well dear, i can honestly say, you two made the right choice coming to me for this". she winked.
"But before anything else, are you and Ash dating? if you are, when can i expect a wedding proposal? date for the wedding? future grandchildren?"
"Mom!"
