(Years Ago/ Dawn)
"Are you almost ready?" she looked back towards the door, finding Volkner next to it with a luggage bag in hand.
"Y-yeah"., she gave him a weak smile, turning back to the window of the garden house with a soft stare, not caring that the bright light shined straight through her eyes in an irritating manner.
"What's wrong?" he walked over to her, taking both hands into his own, she looked back over to him, still carrying that same solemn expression.
"N-nothing, I'm just a bit nervous".
A tiny smile formed on his lip, he grabbed her chin softly, making her stare up at him again, "Don't be, pretty soon, we'll be far from this place, you'll be living like a princess".
She didn't respond back, rather instead just faking a smile to the blonde who kissed her forehead, now making his way out of the room.
"Paul….." she whispered, placing a hand on her chest as she breathed in, holding back her tears which began to painfully affect her.
"...I'm Sorry….." she placed her hand on the glass wall.
Something came into realization, something she knew she needed, no matter what, it was irreplaceable and she needed to have it with her. She looked around, not knowing what do, would she really be willing to risk her presence in that house again for the sake of this item?
~~~~Moments Later~~~~
"Dawn, are you ready?" he opened the door, his smile quickly fading when she was nowhere in sight.
"I'm sorry Volkner, but I need it, nothing could replace it, not even money". she hurried down the streets of the city, avoiding the many strangers who kept eyeing her.
She was running out of breath, not once stopping since she had left his mansion, eventually coming to a stop when she arrived at her destination, her old home, in three months it still hadn't changed, "Well, here goes". she climbed up the stairs, stopping at the front of the door, her feet going completely numb.
She took in a deep breath, pushing the door open only to find it empty, no one inside with the lights off, she slowly crept in, making her way over to her room where she began rummaging through her belongings, stopping when she held up what she had come for.
"Yes". she whispered, staring at the small photograph, a smile unknowingly forming on her lips as she continued staring. It was a picture of everybody, all of her friends including herself in a group picture, they were standing beneath the signature cherry blossom tree they used to hang out under.
The longer she continued gazing at it, the more memories she began to develop, a painful feeling in her chest, a clogging sensation in her throat, her friends, Paul, they were all once happy, and now, what had become of them….a question she still needed the answer to, one by one she lost the most important people in her life, flown as if they had finally learned to spread their wings, but she was left behind, having hers clipped off, only to remain flightless.
She noticed her reflection on the mirror standing across from her, tears sliding down her cheeks which she hadn't noticed, just the unbearable feeling in her heart she could no longer take. Leaving forever, she was being saved from the darkness her father would quickly turn to be, she was being saved from solitude, being saved from a world of sadness, so why was it so difficult for her to move her feet and leave, why couldn't she run and return back to Volkner, why did her feet feel glued to the floor.
"No!" she dropped to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably as she lost all control of her emotions, unable to hold back her tears of despair. She couldn't leave it all behind, the memories of the family she came to have that soon broke apart, although not together, she couldn't find the heart to leave, she couldn't be further away from them than they already were, she refused to forget them.
"Who's there?" she quickly stopped crying, being startled by the very familiar and frightening voice.
"I said, who's there?!" she could her objects being thrown around, not wasitng anytime as she hurried out of the room and into the living room, stopping when she saw her father standing at the front door.
"D-dad!" he had an empty bottle in his hand, chucking it to the side as he slowly began stumbling over to her direction.
"So…..y-you've finally decided….to return, you ungrateful girl". everything was too quick, she was facing the wall, her head now turned to the side as a stinging hot sensation burned on her cheek.
"N-no….it wasn't like that dad". she cupped her cheek, staying silent afterwards as her eyes gazed over to the door, wide and open, just waiting for her to go through, so she did, barely dodging his grasp as she hurried out of the place.
"Ah!" she shrieked, he had grabbed her by the hair, pulling her back before she could go down the stairs.
"Where do you think you're going?" his words seethed out with the smell of alcohol.
"Away from here! Away from you!" she grabbed his hand, trying to remove it from her hair which he had a tight grasp on.
"You'll never be able to escape from me…" he pulled her back once more, then pushed her forward, forcing the bluenette to lose control of her steps and fall down the stairs,
A smirk developed on his lips as he watched the young girl pass one step after another, a scream following her all the way until she came to a stop at the bottom of the stairs. Her eyes closed, and blood now running down from her head as she remained in a state of unconscious.
"...Never". he whispered.
(Present time/ Dawn and Paul)
She leaned over to the purple haired boy, "Paul…..I have to find Misty, what if she's lost?"
He didn't take a second to completely face her, but instead looked at her from the corner of his eyes, "Misty's a tough person, I think she'll manage".
She formed her lips into a pout, slumping back into her seat with crossed arms.
"Hey you!" she couldn't help but feel that those words were directed towards her, so she peeked around, stopping when she came to the source, her eyes widened at the person, gradually making Paul now look to see who had suddenly startled her.
"It's you…" he shot up from his seat quick enough that it had fallen back, his eyes now narrowing further into a glare towards Barry and Lucas, both of whom were backed up with a hefty group of their members.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he calmly walked over to them, now standing a few inches from the two who gave him a notorious smirk.
"Paul". she remained in her seat, not knowing what to do as the rest of the people around her began scattering away in fright.
Barry laughed, now circling around Paul who remained still, following the blondes every movement with his dark violet eyes, "Don't think you're still king, this is official Giratina territory so now you have to pay the consequences".
A smirk formed on Paul's lips, he closed his eyes, scoffing in a chuckle, "I might not be the King anymore, but at least I had the title while you struggled to even hold in the arena".
He had stopped, his eye twitched, words he knew were right but didn't like, "Seems like you want to die today….Shinji". he pulled Paul in by his collar, there faces only inches away.
"Nobody's dying today". heads turned to the blonde haired man walking over to them, Volkner.
Barry had released Paul, "Volkner? What are you doing back in Sinnoh?"
He looked back between Dawn who was surprised by his presence and then Paul who was annoyed by it, "There's some unfinished business I have to attend to".
"And what is that". asked Paul, narrowing his eyes further than they already were.
"I came back to reclaim several things of mine, such as…..my Wild's King title".
"What?" Volkner nodded, chuckling as he walked past Paul and over to Dawn who was still seated.
"Volkner? What are you doing here?" he took her hand into his own, leaning down to kiss it which had made her blush.
He chuckled, helping the bluenette up from her seat and taking her other hand, "I guess my plan backfired a bit, I was hoping to reveal myself when I got all my other business finished, but it seems it won't work now…..but…... Dawn…...do you not remember me?"
She looked at him in a confused manner, "What do you mean? Of course I do, you asked to go on a date with me a few days ago, we even exchanged numbers".
Paul was surprised by what she had said, remaining silent with a deadly aura now surrounding him, Barry crossed his arms, intrigued and somewhat irritated by what Dawn was saying.
He was taken aback by her response, combing one of his hands through his hair, "I recognized you from the first moment I spotted you down the street, your beauty is one of a kind and I knew it was definitely you, I had just figured that you forgot me because of how long the years have been….but are you sure you don't remember me from anywhere else?"
She shook her head, "I don't".
"I see". he mumbled, releasing her hands as he formed a smile to cover the frown he wanted to form, the news was saddening to him, but mostly heartbreaking.
"No worries, I look forward to our date soon". he grabbed her chin, placing his lips softly on her cheek.
Paul quickly pulled him away, staring at him with a smirk, "I think you've had enough fun for tonight".
Volkner chuckled, leaning close to Paul so he could only hear his whisper, "On the contrary, My fun has only begun, Dawn will slowly piece together the past I had with her, and when she does, we'll be heading out of the region to start our lives together".
"Over my dead body". Paul growled, shoving Volkner away.
"If I have to". he chuckled, walking past Barry who also gave him a glare.
"Troublesome…..stay away from him". he looked back at Dawn, stunned and disgusted by her pink tinted cheeks, she sighed in content while holding her cheek.
(Meanwhile with Misty)
She had gone derp.
Ash's girlfriend.
He had a girlfriend.
A very pretty, cute, adorable girlfriend.
Who brought him flowers and talked in a voice that could easily make her a princess.
"G-girlfriend?" she ushered out, seeming surprised at the petite blonde who nodded, now hugging the flowers tighter.
"That's right, and who are you?" she stared at Misty intensely, she could feel Serena's eyes burning through her soul, well, if they could, that's how it would feel.
Misty stayed quiet for a second, should she…...or should she not, "W-well, I'm Ash's-".
A rough voice overlapped her words.
"She's my sister!" they both turned towards the door, Ash, he seemed worried, yet at the same time serious and firm.
He walked over to them, wrapping his arm around Misty's shoulder, "Serena, this is my sister, Misty".
She went potato, did he just say sister? Why in the hell would he say sister? And why couldn't she say she was just a friend? But then she noticed it, Serena's expression, she didn't have the same cold expression like earlier, her eyes seemed playful and warm now, a smile also grazing her lips.
"Oh wow! I'm sorry for my rude behavior earlier, I didn't realize you were his sister, I thought you were going to say you were his friend or one of his fans, ugh, I just hate those pathetic girls". she gave Misty a hug, having the flowers now squished in between their bodies.
She was left with several petals on her shirt, now turning over to see Serena handing Ash the flowers and giving him a peck on the lips, he seemed indifferent to the gesture, not a blush, not even a sign of embarrassment or interest.
Somehow, watching her kiss him made her really mad, but why?
She could barely speak, so her words instead seethed out through her gritted teeth, "So, Ash, You never told me you had a girlfriend, how could you keep such a thing from your dear sister?"
He seemed a bit jolted by her words and reaction, enough for him to look genuinely worried about how Misty was acting, he began rubbing his neck nervously, but doing so had also brought the redhead's attention into noticing that Ash was completely shirtless, he was bare all from his chest and torso, and she just couldn't remove her eyes from the sight.
He had the structure of a man and it became clear to her that Ash played no games when it came to these events otherwise he wouldn't be looking this way. He had baggy shorts on, they were so low that it revealed the perfect v forming downwards below his navel.
"W-well…..it's because you were gone so long…" she shook her head, hoping no drool seeped out from her mouth when she was staring and turned to Ash who was now staring at her confused, then she looked at Serena who was doing the same.
She gave a weary giggle, "Was I?"
He nodded, "You were abroad for so long studying that I thought you had forgotten about us already".
Her expression became stern, "Well…..nope….because I'm here now, looking at my brother, and…..his girlfriend".
Serena seemed oblivious to the awkward tension, only hugging and holding onto Ash's arm as she stared up at the tall boy with admiration and infatuation.
He remained quiet, not saying anything as Misty closed her eyes, making her way off from the two only to be held back by Serena who kept a smile on her lips, "Aren't you going to stay and watch Ash in his match? Nobody stands a chance against the Wild's King!"
Her eyes moved over to Ash again, this time however he refused to make eye contact, having his arms crossed firmly.
"No….". she slipped her hand away from Serena's, but stopped again after a few more steps.
"...Actually…...I change my mind, I think I will stay to watch". he loosened his arms, surprised by the redhead's answer.
She turned her head back to them, "Sweet Wild's King".
(May and Drew)
"Looks like she's not here…..again". he was frustrated, slamming his hand against the wall.
"It's been a while". he looked back at May who was gazing around, as if she had never seen his house before, a wide smile had spread across her lips when she stopped at Drew's direction.
"Everything is the same, unfortunately Azalea is too". he muttered, she paid no attention, now walking over to the small open area where the shrine she remembered Drew showing her was at.
It was exactly the same, every little piece from all those years ago hadn't been touched or moved, the portrait of his mom was still as lovely as ever.
She knelt in front of the many vases containing roses, cupping several of the petals in her hands as she looked up at the portrait, "Hello Mrs. Hayden, I'm sorry for only visiting now…...but several occurrences had happened between your son and I…...but now we have reconciled and…..and I couldn't be happier, because I love him….I love your son…...I'm sorry for the things I have done, for falling into Azalea's trap…...and I hope you can forgive me from above for hurting Drew…because having your blessing to be with him would mean the world to me….".
"May…." she took in a deep breath, closing her eyes as she felt Drew's presence behind her.
He was taken aback by what she was doing, but the sight he had just witnessed only made his heart beat faster for her, why was he so lucky to be with her? How could he have been so stupid as to lose her, she was the perfect girl for him, she was the one.
"..." he didn't say anything, he knelt down behind her, wrapping his arms around the short haired brunette who curled forward, embracing his warmth from behind.
He whispered into her ear, "We've always had her blessing, because she would have wanted us to be together".
"Really?" she mumbled, holding the palm full of petals up to her nose, allowing for the aroma to sink in.
"Yes, we were meant to be".
Everything remained silent again, he helped her off the ground, taking her hand into his and leading her off into the main hall again. The direction he kept leading her in became suddenly familiar, eventually she had remembered where he was taking her too.
"Remember?" he stopped in front of the door, opening it and allowing her to go in first, nostalgia hit her ever so quick.
"I do". she nodded, making her way over to the piano she remembered once sitting on, still polished with it's original ivory exterior.
"Wait right here". he took off, leaving May curious as to what he had in store, she kept admiring the piano, she had one in her house, but it wasn't as lovely as this one.
"...!..." she spun on her heels, now staring at Drew who had strummed once more on his guitar strings, she heard a sudden melody play in the background, swaying along to it with content.
"What is this?" she smiled over to him, still swaying to the playful melody.
He circled around the brunette with his guitar still in grasp, strumming the strings lightly with a tiny grin, "It's a song I had written during that summer…...I created the melody and wrote the lyrics…...there was just one thing missing from it".
"What?" she seemed intrigued to know the answer.
He stopped in front of her, placing his forehead against hers, whispering gently towards the blue eyed girl, "You".
"Me?" she whispered back, he nodded, pulling out a music sheet and handing it over to May who read it.
"Sing with me, May". they both leaned back against the piano, leaving little to no gaps in between them.
She giggled in embarrassment, looking back down at the music sheet.
(Lucky I'm in love by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat)
[Drew]
Do you hear me , I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying .
She took in a deep breath, following with the beat to make sure she was flowing along with it.
[May ]
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard .
He nudged her, giving the brunette a flirtatious smile as she blushed, nudging him back as they both laughed silently.
[ May and Drew]
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend ,
Lucky to have been where I have been ,
Lucky to be coming home again oh ... oh ... oh ...
[ May and Drew]
They don't know how long it takes , Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye , I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you , I will .
She began strolling around the piano, having Drew playfully follow behind her, playing to his guitar as he sang along with her.
[ May and Drew]
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend ,
Lucky to have been where I have been ,
Lucky to be coming home again ,
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed ,
Lucky to be coming home someday .
He knelt down in front of her.
[ Drew ]
And so I'm sailing through the sea ,
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music, feel the air ,
I'll put a flower in your hair
She circled around him once, kneeling in front of him so that their eyes would meet.
[ May]
Though the breezes through trees ,
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round ,
You hold me right here right now
Her hand cupped his cheek, giving him a warm sensation all throughout.
[ May and Drew]
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend ,
Lucky to have been where I have been ,
Lucky to be coming home again ,
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed ,
Lucky to be coming home someday .
[May and Drew]
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
They gazed once more into each other's eyes, slowly leaning forward as they were ready to share a kiss.
"What is this?" they stopped, now turning towards the source which led to the door, a familiar figure stood near it, someone very familiar.
"Azalea". May muttered, Drew quickly shot up from the ground, placing his guitar down as the chartruesed haired woman stared somewhat in surprise at May's presence.
"May? I haven't seen you in years, what are you doing here?"
He quickly walked up to his stepmother, placing both hands on her shoulders and pushing her back against the wall forcefully, she grunted from the impact, nearly startling May who was just as shocked from Drew's behavior.
He glared directly into the older woman's olive green colored eyes, "She's here with me, because right now you're going to tell us everything about how you manipulated May and I into breaking up".
"What are you talking about?" she scoffed, slowly looking over at May who held a solemn expression, having a hand over her stomach.
"Don't play stupid! We know everything, how you tricked May into believing that I never wanted to see her, that I never wanted the baby, you lied to her! You killed my baby!" he grabbed her once more and shoved her against the wall, making her groan again as she returned a glare of her own.
"I don't know what you're talking about Drew, but release me this instant, how dare you put your hands on me you savage!". she grabbed both of his wrists, pulling them off her shoulders angrily as she scooted further back from him, having some distance between the two.
He sneered, running his hand through his hair in irritation, "I always knew you were the devil, but what you did was the lowest of the low, forcing a strong hate on two kids who were in love only to feel satisfied, my life is none of your business, because of you I lost many things, but I'll tell you now, fate did you wrong…"
He walked back over to May, wrapping his arm around her waist as she hugged him in return, Azalea's eyes widened, "... because May and I have found each other, and we're back together again, stronger than ever".
"W-what?" whispered the older woman, trying to avoid May's eyes.
"Azalea…." May released her grip on Drew and calmly walked over to older female.
It was Drew's turn to be surprised, but a look of satisfaction also crossed him, her head was now turned to the side, a red marking slowly appearing on her cheek along with a burning stinging sensation. She placed her hand over it, flinching as the pain grew.
May's hand was still up, but she clenched it tightly, putting it down at her side as she took in a deep breath, "I trusted you because I thought you were a good person and my friend, but I was wrong, you don't have a heart, nor a conscious, we both lost someone very important to us because of your selfishness, a small child he and I will never know, a baby I will never get to hold…".
She remained quiet, keeping her composure as she released a sigh, "...I love Drew, and I know he loves me, and nobody, not even you, will be able to drive us apart again, so stay out of our lives, forever".
She took Drew's hand, now making her way out of the studio with him in tow, a chuckle quietly escaping his lips, a chuckle heard by Azalea who trembled in anger.
"H-how dare they….it just….can't be".
He pushed open the doors, picking up the brunette in his arms to spin her around as he laughed, "I can't believe you did that! May you're my hero!"
She threw her head back with a groan, "I don't know what came over me, it's just as if I had all this anger building up on me and…..and I just snapped, but I didn't mean to slap her, it just sort of happened…" she turned red in embarrassment.
He stopped and placed her on the floor, "Either way, you're my hero, Azalea deserved it and she knew it damn well, I just hope the message got across to her and she'll learn to leave me alone". he grabbed her cheeks and kissed her, sparking the brunette to return it.
There moment continued on, oblivious to the two who had no idea that the older green haired woman was watching from a window above.
"Those brats, how dare they treat me like that…...I helped them and this is how they repay me….Well, if it's heartless they think I am, then they have no idea how cruel I can be, it's only just begun you two".
(Leaf/Red)
They were both at a small cafe, sitting outside underneath the shaded tent with silence surrounding the air around them.
She kept staring at her cup, still full from when the waiter brought it to her a while ago, "Red….what am I going to do?"
He was halfway done with his now, gazing sadly at the brunette who kept her solemn eyes only on her drink, "Don't worry about a thing, leave everything in my hands, I'll handle my brother, and make sure he never harms you again".
"Damn right about that, because I'm going to kill both of you!". she knew the voice, gasping immediately when she looked up and saw Gary standing behind Red. He turned back to find the brunette's hazel eyes glaring madly down at him.
He grabbed the raven haired boy's sweater, forcing him up from his chair and shoving him back onto another table which had broken from the impact and forced the people sitting near it to scream.
"Red!" he was still on the floor, groaning as he laid on top of a pile of broken dishes.
"Gary! What are you doing?!" she rushed over to the raven haired boy, helping him slowly up as he coughed and groaned once more.
"Why are you with this bastard?! He's one of them! He hurt you just like the others!" he quickly made his way over, picking Red up off the ground and grabbing him again from his sweater.
"What are you talking about?" she looked back and forth between the two.
"I know about how you spent a year inside Blackthorne Sanitarium, I know about the lockharts dark secret, and this punk is going to tell you all about it!"
"B-blackthorne….how do you know about that?" she backed away from Gary, tears were now forming in her eyes as she clutched her hair from both sides.
"I dug up your past, I investigated you, but on the way, I also found out about your adoptive family's little dirty secret….." he looked over at Red who kept avoiding his eyes.
"...Tell her!" he shook him, getting annoyed from his silence that he had pushed the raven haired boy down again.
"T-tell me what?" she locked eyes with Red who had a very distressed look in his red rose eyes.
He kept remaining silent, quickly angering Gary who instead spoke out, "If you won't tell her then I will, Leaf…..you're not the first daughter of the lockharts".
"W-what do you mean?" she kept looking between the two, confused as to what that meant.
He grabbed her shoulders, staring firmly into her eyes, "There are others, The lockharts adopted other girls from other regions but they all remained with the same fate as you, they chose to remain inside their orphanages, they all refused to go back".
"I-is this true?" she looked at Red who avoided her eyes this time, but he nodded.
He heart began pounding rapidly, the gut feeling inside began hurting, as if her insides were being twisted and turned, she felt like throwing up, she couldn't take it.
"W-why?" he voice was cracking, she wanted to cry, but tried her best not to.
"Because of Zero…..they were all his victims, just like you…...the prey to the hungry wolf, he got to them all….except you who became his favorite…..and now because of that, he won't stop until he finds you".
"W-why didn't you tell me?"
He sighed, ruffling his hair in distress as he faced the ground, "Because I didn't want you to hate us, my family isn't bad…...the only evil is Zero, he'll do everything he pleases, even if it means hurting others".
She closed her eyes, finding it to be the only way to stop her tears, "The first girl your parents adopted…...who was she?"
He was surprised by the question, looking up at Gary who kept a firm expression, his arms crossed as he waited for the answer just like Leaf.
"The first girl…..she reminded me a lot of you, the same personality, so happy, friendly, loving, yet tough….I think that's the reason why Zero might really have taken an interest in you, because you remind him of her".
"Who is she?" Gary asked this time.
They noticed the look in his eyes, so dark, sadness waving within, "Her name was yellow….".
"What happened to her?" asked Leaf, kneeling down beside him as she finally got control of holding her tears back.
Silence came again, he shook his head, burying his face into his palm, "She died".
