Chapter 19:

Ichigo shunpō'ed to the secret cavern beneath Sōkyoku Hill—the very place where he and Renji had trained for their Bankai. After casting a privacy kidō barrier around himself, he sat down to enter Jinzen.

Scene Change: Mindscape

When Ichigo opened his eyes, he found that his mindscape had transformed once more. This time, three skyscrapers had vanished, replaced by three statues. The left statue took the form of a left hand, while the right statue mirrored it with a right hand. The central statue resembled a skyscraper, but it was adorned with gold and purple beams that twisted around it, giving it the appearance of a towering cone. Above, the blue sky had disappeared, replaced by a star-filled night, with a spiral galaxy spinning majestically in the distance.

"Hello, Ichigo," Hōgyoku greeted him.

"Hello, Hōgyoku," Ichigo replied.

"We should sit down; since it will take a long time to explain what your recent actions have done to you," Hōgyoku said, leading Ichigo to a nearby bar. They settled in, preparing for the conversation ahead.

"So… what happened?" Ichigo asked.

"Well, when you became King of Souls, the blue sky transformed into the night sky, and the spiral galaxy emerged. This symbolizes that you have no limits. Not only that, but you now possess the ability to warp reality in both Soul Society and Hueco Mundo," Hōgyoku explained.

"I'm already aware of that," Ichigo replied.

"Anyhow, by absorbing the Left Hand, the Right Hand, and the Heart, you have gained the power to evolve anything you choose. You can evolve your body to the point where nothing can harm you," Hōgyoku continued.

"But…" Ichigo interjected, anticipating a limitation.

"But it requires you to be struck by the attack first," Hōgyoku clarified.

"I see. So, if I were hit by Suì-Fēng's Shikai twice, I would die due to its effects. How would I survive that?" Ichigo asked.

"For that, you have the ability of the Right Hand," Hōgyoku responded. "The Right Hand's power can prevent things from happening. In your scenario, it would stop her Shikai's effect from activating until the Left Hand evolves your body enough to counter it."

"I understand. And what about the Heart?" Ichigo inquired.

"The Heart manifests your thoughts, feelings, and desires into reality," Hogyoku explained.

"So, if I tried really hard to learn something…" Ichigo began.

"The Heart would focus on increasing your comprehension and willpower to help you learn," Hogyoku said. "Though this power is something we don't truly know or understand."

"I see," Ichigo said thoughtfully. "Is there anything else I should know?"

"Yes, it concerns Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck and Tier Harribel," Hōgyoku replied.

"Go on," Ichigo encouraged.

"During the battles, I managed to communicate with both Nelliel and Harribel through the peerage link," Hōgyoku said.

"Did you explain why I did it?" Ichigo asked.

"I did. Nelliel accepted the peerage without hesitation, while Harribel wishes to discuss it with you in person," Hōgyoku said.

"All right," Ichigo said. "Is there anything else?"

Hōgyoku shook her head. Suddenly, Yhwach appeared and took a seat beside Ichigo.

"Now, let's discuss the new Quincy abilities you've acquired from Yūhabahha," Yhwach said.

"Sure," Ichigo replied.

"We have managed to collect all 26 schrifts from his Sternritters," Yhwach stated.

"We did?" Ichigo questioned, recalling that he hadn't acquired all 26.

"We didn't get all of them. Yūhabahha collected the remaining Sternritters who were still in Soul Society," Yhwach clarified.

"I see… continue," Ichigo urged.

"To utilize them, we need to associate each of the 26 schrifts with a specific concept," Yhwach explained, pulling out a piece of paper listing all 26 schrifts. Ichigo took a moment to think before summoning a pen and paper, jotting down his ideas for each schrift. After a few minutes, he presented the completed list to Yhwach.

"Very well," Yhwach said as he took the papers. "I will get back to you when these schrifts are fully operational."

"Okay," Ichigo replied.

"Another important detail: since you possess Yūhabahha's memories, you can also perform all of his techniques," Yhwach added.

"I see," Ichigo said, recalling Yūhabahha's use of Blut Vene Anhaben and Sankt Altar. "Is there anything else?"

"Nothing," Yhwach replied as he stood and vanished. Ichigo decided to exit his mindscape.

Scene Change: Soul Society

Leaving his mindscape, Ichigo resolved to check on how each division was handling their new responsibilities. He shunpōed over to the Third Division, the closest division. As he walked through, he passed a few remaining Shinigami who had survived the war. Moments later, he spotted Rose poring over various documents, letting out a weary sigh.

"Hey, Rose," Ichigo called.

"Hello, Ichigo," Rose replied, looking up.

"Are you having any issues integrating your division with their new duties?" Ichigo asked.

"I am," Rose admitted.

"What's the problem?" Ichigo probed.

"According to these records we found, all the Asauchi we receive are forged by Ōetsu Nimaiya," Rose explained.

"I see. Since he is dead, no one will be able to forge more Asauchi," Ichigo realized, piecing together the issue.

"Exactly. All the records we have failed to explain how Asauchis are forged," Rose added.

"Give me a second," Ichigo replied, ripping open a Garganta.

Scene Change: Reiōkyū: Houou Palace

Ichigo emerged at Houou Palace, but the festive atmosphere that had welcomed him during his last visit had vanished. Approaching the façade of the fake mansion, he peered inside, only to find it empty of the Zanpakutō spirits that had previously occupied it. Moving past the mansion, Ichigo spotted the girl who had kicked Ōetsu Nimaiya—he recalled her name as Mera-chan.

"Um… Mera?" Ichigo called out. The redhead looked up to see him standing there.

"So, you're back," Mera replied.

"I am," Ichigo confirmed.

"What do you need? Not that we can do much without Ōetsu Nimaiya," Mera said.

"What do you mean you need Ōetsu Nimaiya?" Ichigo inquired.

"What's it to you?" Mera retorted.

"Well, the Soul Society won the war, and it's my job to see what I can do to help all of you," Ichigo explained.

"There is a way to continue Ōetsu Nimaiya's work," Mera said.

"But…?" Ichigo prompted.

"But it requires a Shinigami of strong will to sacrifice themselves," she clarified.

"What do you mean?" Ichigo pressed.

"Let me show you," Mera said, guiding him down a hallway to a glowing white katana encased in glass. A sign above it read: "Break glass in case of emergency."

"What is this?" Ichigo asked, intrigued.

"Ōetsu Nimaiya's backup," Mera replied.

"Backup?" Ichigo echoed.

"Ōetsu Nimaiya knew he would die when Yūhabahha invaded the Reiōkyū," Mera explained. "So, he created a backup of his soul and memories."

"You can do that?" Ichigo asked, astonished.

"Theoretically, yes," Mera said.

"So, what needs to be done for his backup to work?" Ichigo inquired.

"It requires a Shinigami willing to stab themselves with Ōetsu Nimaiya's backup," Mera explained.

"What will happen to the Shinigami?" Ichigo asked.

"Essentially, the backup will erase the Shinigami's own Zanpakutō and bind us to that Shinigami," Mera replied.

"That's it?" Ichigo asked, surprised.

"Then the Shinigami's mind will be filled with the knowledge that Ōetsu Nimaiya placed in the backup," Mera clarified.

"Essentially making the sacrificed Shinigami another Ōetsu Nimaiya," Ichigo concluded.

"Yes," Mera confirmed.

"Would anyone qualify for this?" Ichigo asked.

"From what Ōetsu Nimaiya said, it requires a pure Shinigami who understands the dangers and is willing to go through with it," Mera explained.

"I see," Ichigo said thoughtfully. "Do I have your permission to bring the Houou Palace down to Soul Society?"

"I'm unable to give you permission," Mera replied.

"I understand," Ichigo said. "Thank you for the information." He opened a Garganta and jumped through.

Scene Change: Soul Society: Third Division

Ichigo emerged from the Garganta, finding Rose waiting for him.

"So, what happened?" she asked.

Ichigo explained the situation to her. "I see…" Rose said, processing the information.

"You can come in now," Ichigo said, turning toward the door. As he did, it swung open to reveal Izuru Kira.

"I wish to volunteer," Kira announced.

"Why?" Rose asked, surprised.

"Throughout my time here, I've never accomplished anything meaningful. My actions have resulted in either insignificant victories or substantial losses," Kira confessed. "By doing this, I hope to turn my useless life into something significant."

"Have you consulted your Zanpakutō yet?" Ichigo asked.

"My… Zanpakutō?" Kira replied, confusion flickering across his face.

"Remember, your Zanpakutō is a manifestation of your soul," Ichigo reminded him.

"Ichigo-sama is right," Wabisuke said, materializing beside Kira.

"Wabisuke," Kira acknowledged.

"Hello, Kira," Wabisuke greeted.

"Are you disappointed in my decision? Do you regret being born from my soul? Are you—" Kira began, but Wabisuke interrupted him with a punch to the face, silencing him.

"Kira, I understand how you feel," Wabisuke said firmly. "I see your despair and sadness. It pains me every time you succumb to these feelings. You have lost yourself in despair because of our weakness. But witnessing your decision to take this step… it warms my heart. It shows your determination to grow and move forward instead of being shackled by despair. Go forth. You have my blessing." With that, Wabisuke returned to the mindscape.

"Kira, come with me," Ichigo said, opening a Garganta and stepping inside, followed closely by Kira.

Scene Change: Reiōkyū: Houou Palace

Ichigo and Kira emerged from the Garganta to find Mera waiting for them.

"So, this is him?" Mera asked, studying Kira.

"Yes," Ichigo confirmed.

"Mera, you informed him of the dangers, correct?" Mera asked Kira.

"He did," Kira replied, nodding.

"This is your last chance," Mera warned.

"I understand and am willing to take the risk," Kira declared.

Mera walked over to the glass case and punched it, shattering the glass. She retrieved the glowing katana and held it out to Kira. Taking a deep breath, Kira accepted the katana and stabbed himself with it.

"AAAHHHHH!" Kira screamed as the katana shone brightly, sending dust swirling around him and obscuring Ichigo's view. After a few tense moments, the glow subsided, and the dust began to settle.

Ichigo glanced around and noticed someone else in the room.

"Hey! Hey! Guess who's back!" Ōetsu Nimaiya exclaimed, his enthusiasm evident.

"So, you transformed from Kira?" Ichigo asked, curious.

"I did, and yet I didn't," Nimaiya replied enigmatically.

"What do you mean?" Ichigo pressed.

"Essentially, Kira experienced everything that the original Ōetsu Nimaiya went through," Nimaiya explained.

"How come you look like the original Ōetsu Nimaiya instead of Kira?" Ichigo questioned.

"I… don't know. Perhaps it's because he accepted the transformation instead of fighting it," Nimaiya speculated.

"Anyway, I'm planning to move the Houou Palace down to Soul Society," Ichigo said.

"Sure," Nimaiya agreed.

"Do you have a specific location in mind?" Ichigo asked.

"Could it be underneath the Third Division?" Nimaiya suggested.

"Sure," Ichigo replied. With that, Nimaiya stepped back into the Hōō Palace. "AWAKEN, HAGANE!" Ichigo called out. His shadow stretched longer and darker.

"Out of the forge darker than darkness, with the steel forged by the hammer of science!" an ominous voice echoed as Hagane slowly rose from Ichigo's shadow.

"Hagane, can you help me transport this entire island underground to the Third Division?" Ichigo asked.

Hagane nodded, opening a dimensional rift as Ichigo and Hagane worked together to push the Hōō Palace through the portal.

Scene Change: Soul Society

Hagane managed to shift enough earth to successfully position the entire Hōō Palace beneath the Third Division. "Thank you, Hagane," Ichigo said gratefully. Hagane nodded and returned to Ichigo's mindscape. Ichigo created a path from the Hōō Palace to a nearby cave close to the Third Division and called Nimaiya to show him the way.

"So, who are you going to inform about the revival of this place?" Nimaiya asked.

"I'll inform Rose, and no one else," Ichigo replied.

"I see. I'll accompany you to speak with Rose," Nimaiya said, then shunpō'ed away to her office. Ichigo decided to leave since it seemed Nimaiya had everything handled. He shunpō'ed over to the Fourth Division, where he found the new Captain, Isane, engaged in conversation with other healers.

"Ichigo-sama," Isane greeted with a bow. "How may I assist you?"

"Not much. I just wanted to check in on how things are going," Ichigo said.

"Other than the injured Shinigami from the war, there's nothing unusual to report," Isane said.

"How is Ukitake?" Ichigo asked, concerned.

"He's recovering well. I looked at his old medical history, and there's been a dramatic change. According to Kuchiki-Fukutaichō, you and Urahara-Taichō performed an experimental surgery on him. Is that correct?" Isane inquired.

"Yes, that's correct. This type of surgery originated from the World of the Living," Ichigo explained, pulling out a few medical textbooks from his mindscape. "These are some of my old medical textbooks that might help improve the Fourth Division," he said, handing them to her. Isane held the books with a mix of awe and shock. "If you have any questions about the content of these textbooks, feel free to come see me or Urahara. We should be able to help," Ichigo added.

"Thank you, Ichigo-sama," Isane replied, bowing deeply. Ichigo then set off to check on the next division.

Scene Change: Fifth Division

Ichigo arrived at the Fifth Division to find many members poring over various books and taking notes. He walked past them to the Captain's office, knocking on the door. After a few moments of silence, he leaned closer to listen. From the other side, he heard faint snores.

"ZZZ-Zzzz-ZZzzz-hngGGggh-Ppbhww- zZZzzzZZ…"

Ichigo sighed and slid the door open, revealing Hirako sprawled out on his desk, paperwork strewn everywhere. An impish idea sparked in Ichigo's mind.

He quietly made his way to the Fukutaichō's office and found Hiyori asleep as well. Using the air around her, Ichigo deftly lifted Hiyori and moved her into Hirako's sleeping quarters. He then rushed back to Hirako's office and transported him to his own bed.

Using water manipulation, Ichigo gently wrapped Hiyori's arms around Hirako's waist while simultaneously draping Shinji's arms around Hiyori. When he was finished, it appeared that Hirako was hugging Hiyori, who was nestled against his chest. Ichigo then pulled out his phone and began taking pictures.

Next, he noticed an alarm clock on the nightstand. He set it for 7:00 AM, changing the time to 6:59, then shrank himself down and positioned his camera to record the impending hilarity.

At exactly 7:00, the alarm blared.

"RRIINNGG!"

One of Hirako's arms shot out, slamming down on the nightstand in a frantic attempt to silence the alarm.

"Gah!" Hirako groaned as he finally managed to find the clock and turn it off. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he slowly turned to see Hiyori lying on his bed.

"Aiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Hirako screamed.

"Shinji, what are you screaming about?" Hiyori mumbled, blinking sleep from her eyes as she turned to see why he was panicking.

"Aiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" she echoed, jumping up in shock at the sight of them entangled in bed. She quickly grabbed a sandal from the floor and began to hit Hirako with it.

"HEY, STOP THAT!" Hirako yelled, bolting away from Hiyori.

"GET BACK HERE AND DIE, PERVERT!" Hiyori shouted, chasing after him. Meanwhile, Ichigo stood nearby, laughing uncontrollably at the prank. After changing back to his human form, he grabbed his phone and shunpō'ed out of the Fifth Division.

Scene Change: Sixth Division

Ichigo arrived at the Sixth Division and made his way to Byakuya's office. He knocked on the door.

"Come in," Byakuya called. Ichigo slid the door open and stepped inside.

"How's it going?" Ichigo asked, noticing Byakuya's troubled expression. Byakuya let out a sigh in response.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Ichigo pressed gently.

Byakuya nodded and led Ichigo to a private sitting room within his office. "So, what's the issue?" Ichigo inquired.

"I… need some advice," Byakuya admitted.

"Sure, I'm here to help," Ichigo said.

"As you know, the Kuchiki Clan is one of the Four Great Noble Families of Soul Society, which grants me a seat in the Central 46," Byakuya explained. "However, as a Taichō, I'm not allowed to sit in that seat, so my grandfather, Kuchiki Ginrei, represents me there."

"Wait. Was he present when Aizen assassinated the old Central 46?" Ichigo asked, concerned.

"He was supposed to be there, but he had private matters to attend to and ended up missing the meeting," Byakuya clarified.

"I see. Please, continue," Ichigo encouraged.

"My Ojii-san informed me that the other nobles will not accept the changes you're implementing. He and the rest of the Central 46 are planning to have their minions attack you," Byakuya said gravely. "And he intends to order me and the entire Sixth Division to join the assault."

"I see the problem now," Ichigo replied, understanding the gravity of the situation.

"I don't know what to do. Should I listen to my grandfather or stand by you?" Byakuya confessed.

"What does your heart tell you?" Ichigo asked.

"My heart?" Byakuya echoed, surprised by the question.

"What does Byakuya, the Taichō of the Sixth Division, truly want to do?" Ichigo pressed.

"I… don't want to attack you," Byakuya admitted.

"Good," Ichigo said, standing up decisively. "Byakuya, show me where the Central 46 is located." Byakuya rose and the two of them shunpō'ed out of the Sixth Division.

Scene Change: Central 46 Compound

Ichigo and Byakuya arrived outside the Central 46 Compound, where four members of the Inner Court Troop, one of the five branches of the Onmitsukidō, stood guard. When they noticed the two, all four bowed before returning to a standing position.

"Hello, Ichigo-sama and Kuchiki-Taichō," Guard #1 greeted.

"Hello, guards. I wish to see the Central 46," Ichigo stated.

"I'm sorry, but we have been instructed not to allow anyone to enter," Guard #2 replied apologetically.

"I see," Ichigo said, his expression hardening. "Then I'll make this quick." With that, he knocked out all four guards in an instant. Byakuya looked at him, puzzled.

"If they had let me in and I didn't manage to dismantle the Central 46, they would be branded as traitors, making things worse," Ichigo explained. Byakuya nodded in understanding, and the two entered the Central 46 Compound.

They descended a set of stairs and soon reached the Underground Assembly Hall. Ichigo noticed four more guards stationed at the door. In a flash, he shunpō'ed over and knocked them out as well. He kicked down the door and strode into the Underground Assembly Hall, where he found only ten members present instead of the full forty-six.

"How dare you enter this room without our permission!" one of the nobles shouted.

"Plain disrespect," another noble added scornfully.

"Silence," commanded a third, likely the judge chosen from among the remaining nobles. "Kurosaki Ichigo."

"It's Kurosaki-Yamamoto Ichigo," Ichigo corrected, irritation creeping into his voice.

Before the other nobles could interject, the judge continued, "I apologize. Kurosaki-Yamamoto Ichigo, the Central 46 demands to know why you are instigating these changes when you do not have the authority to do so."

"Simply because I can," Ichigo replied, his tone unwavering.

"What do you mean 'simply because I can'?" the judge asked incredulously.

"During the battle with Yūhabha, he permanently injured the Soul King. After I defeated him, the Soul King chose me to succeed him as the King of Souls," Ichigo explained.

"LIES!" another noble shouted, igniting a heated debate among the others, all echoing their disbelief.

"SILENCE!" the judge bellowed. "While the reports from Sōtaichō Yamamoto are important and have been read, we cannot use that report as evidence due to your familial relationship with him."

"I see," Ichigo said, crossing his arms. "Since my word and the Sōtaichō's words are not accepted, then I must make this formal." He walked to the center of the room, standing on the Central 46's emblem.

Ichigo flared his reiatsu, commanding the attention of the remaining nobles. "By my divine decree as King of Souls, I hereby disband the Central 46 and strip all ten of you of your noble status," he declared. The Central 46's symbol glowed violet before transforming into a new emblem—a rhombus adorned with four flowers in its center.

"The… the symbol of the Soul King!" one of the nobles exclaimed, recognition dawning on his face.

"YOU CAN'T!" another noble protested, panic rising.

"I can," Ichigo replied calmly. "You have twenty-four hours to vacate the Seijōtōkyorin," he stated before turning and leaving Central 46, Byakuya following closely behind. The two shunpō'ed out of the Central 46.

Scene Change: Sixth Division, Byakuya's Private Room

Ichigo and Byakuya reappeared in Byakuya's private room, both unable to contain their laughter.

"I can't believe you did that! Did you see their faces?" Byakuya chuckled.

"I know! It was hilarious—though not as funny as watching you laugh," Ichigo replied, grinning.

"True," Byakuya said, regaining his composure. "Now that you've effectively dismantled much of the nobles' power, what will the Sixth Division's role be?" he asked.

"Your special duty remains to maintain relations with the nobles," Ichigo explained. "Essentially, you and your division will serve as a bulwark against noble corruption," he added.

"I see," Byakuya said thoughtfully, reflecting on the depths of the Central 46's corruption. "Why did you choose my division for this task?" he asked curiosity in his eyes.

"At first, it's because you know the ins and outs of the nobles, being the current Head of the Kuchiki Clan," Ichigo explained.

"I see," Byakuya responded thoughtfully.

"I also know that beneath that mask of yours lies someone who truly cares for others," Ichigo continued, recalling the moments when Byakuya had shown concern for others, especially when he had sought Ichigo's help in the past.

"I appreciate your understanding and trust," Byakuya said, a hint of gratitude in his voice.

"Not a problem at all. Do you have any other issues on your mind?" Ichigo asked.

"At this moment, no, I don't," Byakuya replied.

"Okay then," Ichigo said as he shunpō'ed out of Byakuya's private office.

Scene Change: Twelfth Division

Ichigo shunpō'ed over to the Twelfth Division, where he found everyone busy typing or taking notes on various experiments. As he walked past them, he accidentally bumped into someone, knocking them to the ground. Looking down, he realized it was Nemu, the Fukutaichō of the Twelfth Division.

"Sorry about that," Ichigo said, noticing the papers Nemu had been carrying scattered across the floor. "Let me help you with that." He summoned a gust of wind to gather the paperwork into a neat stack in his left hand while extending his right hand to help her up.

"Thank you, Ichigo-sama," Nemu replied as she accepted his hand and pulled herself up. "Is there anything I can assist you with, Ichigo-sama?" she asked.

"Do you know where Urahara is right now?" Ichigo inquired.

"Urahara-Taichō is currently in the Taichō's office going over some paperwork," Nemu answered. "I was about to go there myself to deliver these files."

"All right then, let's go," Ichigo said, handing the files back to her. The two of them walked toward the Taichō's office. Nemu knocked on the door, and after a few moments, they heard Urahara's voice from inside.

"Come in!" Urahara called. Ichigo and Nemu opened the door to find the office cluttered with stacks of paperwork organized against the walls. Ichigo noticed Urahara's hair was standing on end, a sign of his usual intensity.

"Any issues?" Ichigo asked, surveying the chaos.

"Oh, there are plenty of issues with this division," Urahara sighed.

"What happened?" Ichigo asked, pulling out a notepad and pen.

"First off, I noticed that after taking a census of the current members of the Twelfth Division, the number was even lower than I had estimated. So, I decided to review the previous census reports that every captain was supposed to complete. Oddly enough, they've remained unchanged ever since Kurotsuchi became Taichō of the Twelfth Division," Urahara explained, sliding the census paperwork across the desk. "Then I visited the Fifth Division and the Shin'ō Academy to obtain reports on how many students from each graduating class joined the Twelfth Division." He passed those reports to Ichigo. "According to my calculations, the Twelfth Division recruits about three to five new members each year, yet the census numbers have stayed the same for decades. I suspect Kurotsuchi has been adjusting the census figures deliberately, but I don't know why."

"It's because he used 'useless' subordinates for his experiments," Nemu interjected, catching both Ichigo and Urahara's attention.

"I see," Urahara nodded, considering her words.

"Well, that's one issue down. What's the next one?" Ichigo asked.

"The Twelfth Division's technology is outdated!" Urahara complained, frustration evident in his tone.

"It certainly is," Ichigo agreed.

"I'm planning to bring some technology from my shop to update this division," Urahara said.

"I want a report detailing what technology you plan to bring in," Ichigo instructed.

"Understood," Urahara replied.

"While you're working on that, I want you two to focus on these new ideas," Ichigo added.

"New ideas?" Urahara echoed, curious.

"First on the list is developing a sensor," Ichigo said.

"A sensor? There's already one for Soul Society," Urahara replied, slightly confused.

"What about the Seireitei?" Ichigo countered.

"The idea of a sensor in the Seireitei was initially rejected due to the Shinigami patrolling the area," Urahara explained.

"And yet, five Ryokas managed to infiltrate the Seireitei and evade the entire Gotei 13 for nearly a week," Ichigo remarked.

"So, what exactly do you want me to look into regarding this sensor?" Urahara asked.

"Instead of a single large sensor covering the entire Soul Society, let's develop multiple smaller ones that cover more localized areas," Ichigo proposed.

"By doing so, we can significantly reduce the vulnerabilities in the sensor system," Urahara concluded. "What about the patrols?"

"The patrols will continue, but the members will be in communication with those managing the sensors to alert them in case of an enemy invasion," Ichigo clarified.

"I see. Where would the sensor operations be managed?" Urahara inquired.

"It would likely be here in the Twelfth Division and potentially in the Second Division as well," Ichigo replied.

"Smart idea," Urahara said, nodding appreciatively. "I'll get you those reports as soon as possible."

"King. It's faint, but I can sense hollows nearby," Zangetsu suddenly said.

"What?" Ichigo responded, surprised.

"I sense them beyond this wall—maybe a secret passageway?" Zangetsu speculated.

"I'll ask," Ichigo said, turning to Nemu. "Nemu, did Kurotsuchi experiment on any hollows here?" he asked.

"How did you know?" Nemu replied, looking startled.

"What?!" Urahara and Ichigo exclaimed in unison, their eyes wide with shock.

"Kurotsuchi managed to capture a few Arrancar while we were in Hueco Mundo and conducted experiments on them," Nemu confessed.

"Show us," Ichigo ordered. Nemu walked over to the Taichō's desk and pushed against the wall. One of the panels is recessed inward, revealing a hidden passageway. Nemu stepped inside, followed closely by Ichigo and Urahara. They entered a sealed room.

"I cannot take you further. Only Kurotsuchi knows the password to this room," Nemu explained.

"Let me try something," Ichigo said, stepping forward. He placed his hand on the keypad and concentrated, channeling a pinch of reiatsu into his palm. "Ō no meirei, Aita [King's Order, Open]." The number pad glowed purple for a few seconds, and suddenly, they heard a beep. The door opened, allowing Ichigo, Nemu, and Urahara to step inside.

The sight before them was unsettling: four bodies floated in some type of liquid. Ichigo recognized one of them—an Arrancar he had fought during his invasion of Las Noches. "Arrancars," Ichigo murmured.

Urahara moved toward one of the monitors. "Based on these readings, these Arrancars are alive," he reported.

"I think something was added to them," Ichigo said, studying the bodies.

"What makes you say that?" Urahara asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Look at the surgery scars on all their bodies," Ichigo replied. Urahara examined the Arrancars and noted that they all bore similar surgical scars. "I want you to investigate Kurotsuchi's work and report to me immediately on what he did to them," Ichigo ordered.

"Right," Urahara affirmed. "Nemu, can you step outside for a moment? I need to discuss something privately with Ichigo."

Nemu nodded and left the room. As soon as she was gone, Urahara cast several privacy kidō around the secret lab.

"So, is this about your contract with me?" Ichigo asked.

"Yes, it is. When you assigned the Thirteenth Division to handle international relations, it made sense that you would seek alliances with the Devils, Fallen Angels, and Angels first, and then pursue other factions," Urahara explained. "Since my knowledge of them will eventually become outdated, I request that we revise the contract."

"I'll handle that when I unseal the dimension," Ichigo replied.

"Okay then," Urahara said as he unsealed the secret lab. "Also, what's the password to the lab?" he asked.

"When did I leave Karakura Town?" Ichigo responded playfully before shunpō'ing out.

Scene Change: Thirteenth Division

Ichigo shunpō'ed to the Thirteenth Division, where everyone was busy with paperwork or reading books. He approached Sentarō Kotsubaki.

"Yo," Ichigo said, startling him.

"K-K-Kurosaki-sama!" Sentarō stammered, bowing deeply. The rest of the division quickly followed suit, pausing their work to bow toward Ichigo. Ichigo sighed.

"Everyone, get up," he said. They complied and stood at attention. "Please resume your tasks," he added. The division members returned to their work. Ichigo turned to Sentarō. "So, what's the division working on right now?"

"They're reading a book that Kuchiki-fukutaichō acquired, which discusses modern aspects of Japanese society," Sentarō reported, presenting the book to Ichigo. Ichigo took it, recalling that he had made a copy for Rukia to help her navigate the World of the Living.

"I see," Ichigo said, handing the book back to Sentarō. "Do you know where Rukia is?"

"She should be in the Taichō's office," Sentarō informed him.

"Thank you," Ichigo replied. "For now, continue with your work." He made his way to the Taichō's office and knocked on the door. He heard someone slamming paperwork on the table before stomping toward the entrance.

"Sentarō, didn't I tell you to inform the entire division not to—" Rukia began, but her words faltered when she saw it was Ichigo. "Ichigo-sama," she said, surprised.

"Hello. May I come in?" Ichigo asked.

"Sure," Rukia replied, stepping aside as Ichigo entered. He noticed the stacks of paperwork on the floor near her desk. "So, what brings you here?" she asked.

"I'm checking in on each division to see how they're handling their new responsibilities," Ichigo said.

"I see," Rukia responded, and Ichigo could sense the tension in the room.

"I noticed you gave them a copy of the book I provided," Ichigo commented.

"So?" Rukia replied, continuing to work on her paperwork. Ichigo sighed and decided to confront her directly.

"What's the problem, Rukia?" he asked.

"Problem… PROBLEM!" Rukia shouted, slamming her paperwork down and glaring at him. Ichigo quickly cast a privacy kidō around the office. "I HAVE A FEW PROBLEMS WITH YOU, ICHIGO!"

"Rukia, calm down," Ichigo urged. She took a deep breath and sat back down. "What's the first problem?" he asked.

"The first is the surgery you performed on Ukitake-Taichō. Why did you have to do it that way?" Rukia demanded.

"I had to perform the surgery on Ukitake like that for personal reasons," Ichigo replied. Rukia narrowed her eyes. "It's Ukitake's choice, not mine," he clarified.

"Okay. My second issue is that you had your powers and pretended to hide it from us," Rukia said. "We've felt so guilty ever since that letter."

"It's true that I have access to my powers now, but for the first eighteen months, I didn't have any. During that entire time, none of you came to check on me," Ichigo pointed out.

"But we couldn't!" Rukia countered.

"Right… it's not like you had some sort of body your spirit could possess to interact with the living," Ichigo shot back. Rukia looked guilty. "Any other problems?"

"It's about my old Zanpakutō. According to Kioku Keshigomu, you were there to take Shirayuki so that Kioku Keshigomu could become my Zanpakutō. Is that true?" Rukia asked.

"Why don't you ask Shirayuki herself?" Ichigo suggested, summoning his Zanpakutō.

"Hello, Rukia," Shirayuki greeted.

"Shirayuki!" Rukia exclaimed.

"What do you want, Rukia?" Shirayuki asked.

"Why did you join Ichigo?" Rukia pressed.

"If I hadn't joined Ichigo, I would have faded from existence," Shirayuki replied.

"What?" Rukia said, surprised.

"When you were severely injured during the Quincy attack, your friends Homura and Shizuka found your wounded body," Shirayuki explained. "In their desperation to help, they pushed their reiatsu into you to heal you. But instead, they ended up entering your mindscape. The two of them encountered me, and we ended up fighting— their desire to save you clashing with my instinct to survive."

"What happened?" Rukia asked, intrigued.

"Ichigo happened," Shirayuki said. "He somehow entered your mindscape, rescued me, and allowed me to become his Zanpakutō. At the same time, he enabled Homura and Shizuka to become your Zanpakutō," Shirayuki finished before returning to Ichigo's mindscape.

"I see…" Rukia replied thoughtfully.

"Rukia," Ichigo said, catching her attention. "I want you to tell the Vizards to meet me at Sōkyoku Hill tomorrow."

"Why?" Rukia asked, curious.

"I want to assess their strength and help them become true hybrids," Ichigo explained.

"I'll spread the message," Rukia affirmed. With that, Ichigo shunpō'ed out of the barracks.

Scene Change: Second Division

Ichigo appeared outside the Second Division barracks. As he walked past the gate, a squad of Onmitsukidō members immediately appeared, kneeling and bowing to him.

"Ichigo-sama, how may we serve you?" one of the Onmitsukidō members asked. Ichigo paused to consider before responding.

"I need four of you," Ichigo said. Moments later, only four Onmitsukidō members remained. "I need you to deliver this message to the Taichōs of the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Divisions, asking them to meet me at this location." He handed the note to the four members, who shunpō'ed away. Ichigo then made his way into the barracks until he reached Yoruichi's office. He knocked on the door.

"Come in," Yoruichi called as Ichigo opened the door. Inside, he found Yoruichi busy with paperwork. "Hey, Ichigo," she greeted.

"Hey. How's everything going?" Ichigo asked.

"Good. Why do you ask?" Yoruichi replied.

"I'm visiting each Taichō to see how the integration is progressing," Ichigo explained.

"It's fine. The Second Division and Onmitsukidō had already integrated beforehand," Yoruichi said.

"I see," Ichigo said. "Yoruichi, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," she replied.

"In two days, could you start training me in Shunkō?" Ichigo asked.

"Shunkō?" Yoruichi raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, Shunkō," Ichigo confirmed.

"Absolutely," Yoruichi said. "But first, I need to test your Hakuda skills."

"Sure. I'll see you in two days," Ichigo said before using Shunpō to leave Yoruichi's office.

Yoruichi watched him go, thinking, Ichigo is faster than I imagined—he might even surpass me. Meanwhile, hidden in a secret passageway, Suì-Fēng fumed at the thought of someone daring to steal Yoruichi from her.

"King of Souls or not, no one dares take my Yoruichi-sama from me," Suì-Fēng vowed as she exited her hiding spot.

Scene Change:

Ichigo shunpō'ed out of the Second Division and into a ramen shop he spotted while traveling around the Seireitei. It was a cozy corner shop called Ramen Ichiraku. Upon entering, he was greeted by an elderly man and a young girl.

"Hello! Welcome to Ramen Ichiraku," the young girl said cheerfully.

"Hello. Can I get a table for five?" Ichigo requested.

"Of course!" the girl replied, guiding him to an open table. Moments later, Iba, Kyōraku, Kensei, and Toshiro entered the ramen shop. The two employees were taken aback by the sight of four Taichōs.

Before they could react, Ichigo raised his hand. "Hey, over here!" he called. The four Taichōs spotted Ichigo and made their way to his table.

"What did you need us for?" Kensei asked.

"Eat first, then we'll discuss business," Ichigo replied as the girl approached with menus. After everyone ordered, the girl returned with their dishes in a few minutes. As soon as the food was set on the table, all five of them dug in as if the ramen were the last meal on earth. The owner and his daughter silently prayed that the Taichōs would enjoy their food.

Two seconds later, the Taichōs began to devour their ramen, and the owner and his daughter cheered silently as they realized their customers loved it. Once the bowls were empty, the chef and owner approached the table.

"Hello! How was your meal?" he asked.

"It was surprisingly good," Ichigo said.

"The best thing I've had in a long time," Toshiro added.

"If I weren't a Taichō, I'd apprentice under you," Kensei declared.

"Delicious!" Iba chimed in.

"It would go great with sake," Kyōraku remarked, eyeing the leftover ramen.

"So, about the bill…" Ichigo started.

"It's on the house!" the owner interjected with a broad smile.

"But…" Ichigo began to protest.

"Please spread the word about Ramen Ichiraku!" the owner insisted.

"As you wish," Ichigo replied, pleased to comply. The owner left their table, beaming with joy. "Now that we've finished eating, let's get started," Ichigo announced. The four captains nodded in agreement. "Iba, how is the Seventh Division doing?" Ichigo inquired.

"The Seventh Division is still mourning the loss of Komamura-Taichō," Iba said somberly.

"I see," Ichigo replied thoughtfully. "Until another candidate is found, you will take charge of the Seventh Division."

"Yes, sir!" Iba affirmed, determination in his eyes.

"Kyōraku, what's the status of the Eighth Division?" Ichigo asked, turning his attention to the laid-back captain.

"It's… going well?" Kyōraku said, uncertainly.

"Well?" Ichigo pressed. "Let me ask your Fukutaichō then." He summoned a hell butterfly and sent it toward the Eighth Division.

"No!" Kyōraku shouted, reaching out to stop the hell butterfly. Ichigo quickly summoned the Chains of Hell, wrapping them around Kyōraku to prevent him from interfering. Kyōraku struggled against the chains.

"Don't bother, Kyōraku," Ichigo said, maintaining his composure. With a resigned sigh, Kyōraku accepted his fate. "While we wait for Kyōraku's Fukutaichō, let's continue," Ichigo said.

"The only issue my Division has is a lack of Shinigami, like everyone else right now," Kensei said.

"I see. Unfortunately, we can't resolve that at the moment, especially since many souls in the Rukongai were lost during the Quincy Invasion," Ichigo replied.

Suddenly, Ichigo sensed a wave of killing intent approaching from the entrance of the ramen shop. He wasn't the only one; the others felt it too. However, the killing intent seemed particularly directed at the Taichō bound in chains. Nanao and Lisa entered the shop just then. Before the employees could greet them, Ichigo called out.

"Nanao! Lisa! Over here!" he beckoned. The two turned, spotting Ichigo waving from a table surrounded by Iba, Kensei, Toshiro, and the still-chained Kyōraku.

"Hello, Ichigo-sama," Nanao greeted.

"Hey, Ichigo," Lisa said casually.

"Hello, ladies. Do you want to eat before we discuss business?" Ichigo asked.

"Will Kyōraku still be here?" Nanao shot a glare at her Taichō.

"Yes, Kyōraku will still be here, ready for you two to torment," Ichigo replied with a smirk.

"Sure," Lisa said, and Ichigo signaled the server to bring two menus. Nanao and Lisa ordered their ramen and began eating quietly, and Ichigo noticed their enjoyment of the food.

"Anyway…" Ichigo resumed the discussion. "Toshiro, any issues on your side?"

"Other than Matsumoto refusing to do paperwork and the need for more Shinigami?" Toshiro replied, raising an eyebrow.

"I see…" Ichigo said, curious. "Normally, I wouldn't get involved, but why does Matsumoto do this?"

"What?" Toshiro asked, slightly confused.

"I know Isshin was the Taichō of the Tenth Division before you. How did he deal with her?" Ichigo inquired.

"Now that I think about it, the roles were reversed for them," Toshiro mused. "Isshin would evade the paperwork while Matsumoto hunted him down, and I ended up doing all the paperwork."

"Maybe you should talk to her," Ichigo suggested.

"Okay," Toshiro agreed. Ichigo then turned to Lisa and Nanao, who had just finished their ramen.

"Now then, ladies, how is the Eighth Division progressing?" Ichigo asked.

"It's somewhat bad," Nanao admitted. "Due to Kyōraku's relaxed nature and constant desire to drink, the Eighth Division isn't prepared for the special duties you assigned."

"Is this a recent problem or a recurring one?" Ichigo asked.

"A recurring problem," Nanao confessed.

"I see. Hypothetically, if I demote Kyōraku from Taichō status and promote Lisa to Taichō, do you think you could resolve the issues Kyōraku has caused?" Ichigo proposed. Lisa and Nanao exchanged shocked glances.

"Is… is that possible?" Lisa asked, eyes wide.

"It is possible. I just need to consult with Genryūsai first," Ichigo said. Suddenly, the two girls tackled him in a burst of excitement.

"THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!" they cheered.

Kensei chuckled at Lisa's enthusiasm, while Toshiro looked surprised to see Nanao acting so animated. Iba stood by, bemused, while Kyōraku sighed, accepting his fate. Once the girls released Ichigo, he stood up.

"For now, return to your duties while I go talk to Genryūsai," Ichigo instructed. With a flick of his wrist, he tightened the chains around Kyōraku's body and shunpō'ed out of the ramen shop.

Scene Change: First Division

Ichigo appeared outside the First Division, with the bound Kyōraku trailing behind him. He walked through the Division until he reached the Taichō's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in," Genryūsai called. Ichigo slid the door open and entered.

"Hello, Ichigo. What has Kyōraku done this time?" Genryūsai inquired, his tone knowing.

"Nanao-Fukutaichō and I believe Kyōraku is unfit to be the Taichō of the Eighth Division," Ichigo stated firmly.

"I see… So if I were to demote Kyōraku, who would replace him?" Genryūsai asked, his interest piqued.

"Well, Lisa mentioned that she is willing to become Taichō of the Eighth Division," Ichigo stated.

"Very well. What about Kyōraku?" Genryūsai asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Since you don't have a replacement fukutaichō yet, let's appoint Kyōraku as your new fukutaichō," Ichigo suggested. Kyōraku's eyes widened in disbelief at Ichigo's unexpected decision.

"Understood. I will call for a meeting to formalize this change," Genryūsai replied, summoning hell butterflies to notify the other Taichō and Fukutaichō to gather for a meeting in one hour. "Okikiba!" Genryūsai called out.

"Yes, Sōtaichō-sama?" Okikiba responded as he shunpō'ed into the office.

"Take Kyōraku to the currently vacant Fukutaichō office," Genryūsai ordered.

"Yes, Sōtaichō-sama!" Okikiba said, swiftly grabbing the still-chained Kyōraku and shunpō'ing away.

"Is there anything else you need, Ichigo?" Genryūsai inquired.

"How is the division managing with the new special duty?" Ichigo asked.

"It is going very well, thanks to the accurate records that have been maintained," Genryūsai replied.

"Good to hear. I plan to recruit the Vizards tomorrow for some training," Ichigo announced.

"Sounds good," Genryūsai said. "Anything else?"

"With the Seventh Division currently without a Taichō, I was considering asking Love to return to lead it," Ichigo mentioned.

"If he is willing, that would be acceptable," Genryūsai agreed.

"Once I meet up with Tessai, he may request Hachigen's return to the Kidō Corps," Ichigo added.

"I will support that if Tessai asks for it," Genryūsai confirmed.

"Great," Ichigo said. "Do you know where the Kidō Corps headquarters are located?" he asked.

"It's near the center of the Seireitei," Genryūsai replied.

"The one that looks like a black tower?" Ichigo clarified.

"Yes, that's the one," Genryūsai affirmed.

"Thank you. I'll see you at the meeting," Ichigo said before shunpō'ing away.

Scene Change: Kidō Corps Headquarters

Ichigo arrived at the imposing black tower, which resembled a massive single piece of Seki-Seki stone capped with a pyramid top (1). He approached the base of the tower.

"Halt! Who goes there?" one of the Kidō Corps members called out.

"I am Kurosaki Ichigo. I'm here to see Tessai," Ichigo announced. The Kidō Corps members immediately bowed respectfully.

"I apologize for the disturbance, Ichigo-sama," one member said. "I will notify Shirei-kan [Commander] immediately." Moments later, Tessai descended from the headquarters, dressed in standard Shinigami robes with an ornate dark blue haori adorned with the Kidō Corps symbol, carrying a shakujō.

"Hello, Kurosaki-dono," Tessai greeted warmly.

"Hello, Tessai. May we talk in your office?" Ichigo asked.

"Of course," Tessai replied, guiding Ichigo to his office. Once inside, Tessai activated a privacy kidō. "What's going on?"

"I'm just checking in on all the divisions to assess their current status," Ichigo explained.

"I see," Tessai nodded. "Many members of the Kidō Corps are pleased that their Shirei-kan has returned."

"So, you're referred to as Shirei-kan instead of Taichō?" Ichigo clarified.

"Correct," Tessai confirmed.

"Anyway, I'm inviting all the Vizards to take positions in the new Gotei 14. I wanted to know if you would like Hachi back," Ichigo proposed.

"Want… Hachi… back?" Tessai echoed in surprise. "Of course, I want Hachi back!" he exclaimed, then quickly composed himself. "I apologize, Kurosaki-dono."

"No need to apologize, Tessai. I expected that reaction," Ichigo chuckled. "Where is Hachi currently?"

"He's helping me rebuild the Kidō Corps," Tessai replied.

"Could you call him over?" Ichigo asked.

"Sure," Tessai said, deactivating the kidō barrier. "Hachi!" he called out. A minute later, Hachi approached.

"Yes, Shirei-kan?" Hachi asked, spotting Ichigo. "Hello, Ichigo."

"Hello, Hachi," Ichigo greeted. "Would you like to join the Gotei 14 and resume your previous position?"

"Really?" Hachi replied, glancing at Tessai.

"I formally want you back with us," Tessai confirmed.

"Then I formally accept your invitation," Hachi said with a smile.

"Great," Ichigo said to Hachi. "Tessai, did you receive Genryūsai's message about the upcoming meeting?"

"I did," Tessai replied.

"Make sure to bring Hachi along," Ichigo instructed.

"Okay," Tessai said.

"See you both at the meeting," Ichigo said before shunpō'ing away.

Scene Change: Eighth Division

Ichigo walked through the Eighth Division, ignoring the curious glances from the members as he made his way to the Fukutaichō's office. He knocked on the door.

"Come in," Nanao said. Ichigo entered to find Nanao and Lisa immersed in paperwork.

"Hello, Ichigo-sama," Nanao greeted.

"Hey, Ichigo," Lisa added.

"Hello, ladies," Ichigo replied. "I wanted to let you know that Genryūsai approved Lisa's promotion to Taichō."

Overjoyed, Lisa and Nanao rushed over and hugged Ichigo tightly. Once the embrace ended, Ichigo continued, "Lisa, do you know where Love is right now?"

"Last I heard, Love was over by the Seventh Division, helping out and mourning the loss of Komamura, since he knew him well when he was still Taichō," Lisa explained.

"Thank you," Ichigo said.

"Are you going to invite him back as the Taichō of the Seventh Division?" Lisa asked.

"I am," Ichigo replied.

"Okay then," Lisa said.

"See you at the meeting," Ichigo said before shunpō'ing away.

Scene Change: Seventh Division

Ichigo shunpō'ed to the Seventh Division, where he found Love seated on a bench, absorbed in a manga. "Hello, Love," Ichigo greeted.

"Hey, Ichigo," Love replied, setting down the comic book. "What can I help you with?"

"I was wondering if you'd like to take over as Taichō of the Seventh Division again," Ichigo proposed.

"Become a Taichō again…" Love pondered, looking up thoughtfully. "I don't know… Are all the remaining Vizards getting this offer?"

"Yes. Hirako and Hiyori are already with the Fifth Division. Rose has taken up the position of Taichō of the Third Division. Kensei and Mashiro are with the Ninth Division. Lisa is set to replace Kyōraku as Taichō of the Eighth Division. Finally, Hachi is willing to return to the Kidō Corps," Ichigo explained.

"All right then. If you're bringing all the Vizards back to the Gotei, I'll join as well," Love decided.

"Thanks," Ichigo replied. "We're having a meeting shortly with all the Taichō and Fukutaichō present, where we'll announce the remaining Vizard's return."

"Very well, I'll see you then," Love said, returning to his comic. Ichigo shunpō'ed back to Genryūsai's office.

Scene Change: Genryūsai's Office

Ichigo arrived at Genryūsai's office. "Did you manage to find the remaining Vizards?" Genryūsai asked.

"I did, and all of them accepted the offer," Ichigo confirmed.

"So, Aikawa Love will be the Taichō of the Seventh Division," Genryūsai stated.

"Correct," Ichigo replied.

"Yadōmaru Lisa will be taking Kyōraku's place as Taichō of the Eighth Division," Genryūsai continued.

"Correct," Ichigo confirmed again.

"And Ushōda Hachigen will serve as the Fuku Shirei-kan [Vice Commander] of the Kidō Corps," Genryūsai added.

"Fuku Shirei-kan is the term the Kidō Corps uses for their Fukutaichō, right?" Ichigo asked.

"Yes, that's correct," Genryūsai said.

"Then that's accurate," Ichigo replied.

"Lastly…" Genryūsai said, "Kyōraku Shunsui will be demoted from Taichō of the Eighth Division and transferred to Fukutaichō of the First Division."

"Correct," Ichigo said.

"Very well, let's head to the meeting room," Genryūsai instructed. Ichigo and Genryūsai shunpō'ed to the meeting room.

Scene Change: Assembly Hall

As they arrived in the Assembly Hall, Genryūsai took his usual seat. Ichigo surveyed the room.

"Why don't we change it up a bit?" Ichigo suggested.

"How do you mean?" Genryūsai asked.

"Let's make it a round table," Ichigo proposed.

"What do you envision?" Genryūsai inquired. Ichigo closed his eyes, gathering reishi from the air to create a set of tables and chairs. When he opened his eyes, he saw that the large round table and 29 chairs he had designed were perfectly constructed. Fifteen chairs surrounded the table, with an additional fourteen chairs slightly angled behind them. Each chair featured a carving of the corresponding Division's kanji on the back, along with an identifier for rank. The only exception was Ichigo's chair, which displayed the King of Souls symbol at the top. Ichigo and Genryūsai quickly took their seats as other Taichō and Fukutaichō began to filter in.

"The chairs are arranged in a clockwise order, with the Taichō's chairs closest to the table and the Fukutaichō's chairs positioned behind and to the right," Ichigo explained. Everyone found their seats and even Ukitake arrived, assisted by Isane. Lisa, Love, and Hachi entered, cloaks covering their faces and bodies, while Kyōraku was dragged in, bound by chains and similarly cloaked.

"This Taichō and Fukutaichō meeting will now commence," Genryūsai declared, slamming his cane down with a loud bang. Ichigo stood up.

"The first thing I want to discuss is this table," Ichigo began. "This table represents the Gotei 14. Each of us has a role in this new governing body. We all hold one vote on every topic discussed. As the King of Souls, I will abstain from voting unless my involvement is required or a tiebreaker is needed." A murmur of understanding rippled through the room. "Now, the first topic of discussion is the return of Aikawa Love and Ushōda Hachigen to their previous positions," Ichigo said as Love and Hachi removed their cloaks. "We will take a vote on this matter," he continued. "Iba-Fukutaichō and Tessai Shirei-kan, since this issue affects your divisions, your votes will be withheld." Iba and Tessai nodded, acknowledging the situation. "Please raise your hand if you support Aikawa Love and Ushōda Hachigen's return to their prior positions," Ichigo requested. Everyone raised their hands in agreement. "With 22 votes in favor and 3 abstentions, congratulations to Aikawa Love and Ushōda Hachigen on their reinstatement," Ichigo announced, prompting applause as Iba and Tessai presented the artifacts representing their positions. Ichigo glanced at Genryūsai and nodded, prompting him to rise.

"Next on the agenda, Ichigo-sama and Nanao-Fukutaichō wish to discuss demoting Kyōraku-Taichō from his position," Genryūsai said, as Nanao stood up, pulling out a large stack of papers.

"What I have here is a written testimony from each surviving member of the Eighth Division," Nanao announced as she placed the stack of papers on the table. "Each of these testimonies details instances of sexual harassment and assault committed by Kyōraku-Taichō while he was intoxicated," she continued. "Moreover, Kyōraku-Taichō has used his powers to burden his Seated Officers with excessive paperwork so that he could slip away to the Rukongai or hide from us to recover from his drinking binges." Gasps of shock rippled through the room at the gravity of her accusations, revealing disbelief that Kyōraku would behave in such a manner, whether sober or not. "I hope this body will make the right choice," Nanao said, taking her seat.

Ichigo nodded to Genryūsai as he settled down. "We have heard Nanao-Fukutaichō's account. Now let's hear Kyōraku's side of the story," he said, pulling Kyōraku forward and removing his cloak. "You've heard Nanao-Fukutaichō's statement. What is your response?"

"I admit I may have crossed the line before… but look at the efforts I've made to change," Kyōraku said, attempting to defend himself.

"What change?" Lisa retorted, throwing off her own cloak. "You acted this way even before Nanao became your Fukutaichō!" she shouted. "I remember the times you tried to grope me and threatened to drown me in paperwork if I dared to report you to the Sōtaichō," Lisa continued, her voice rising with anger. "I know several of your Seated and Unseated Officers who took their own lives after you coerced them into 'servicing you' under threat of more work!"

Feeling the intensity of the situation, Ichigo moved over to comfort Lisa, wrapping her in a hug and gently patting her back to help calm her down. He conjured a chair for her and helped her sit down on his right side.

"Kyōraku-Taichō, do you have a response to Lisa's testimony?" Ichigo asked.

"I do," Kyōraku replied, his expression shifting to a more serious tone.

"Go ahead," Ichigo urged.

"This vote is biased against me," Kyōraku claimed. "Ichigo captured me and gave me no time to prepare for this," he insisted. "So technically, only you, Ichigo, should be able to vote in this case."

"Nonetheless, we now find ourselves at a stalemate," Ichigo said, considering the implications.

"I have an idea," Kenpachi interrupted. "Instead of arguing, let's settle this in combat."

"That's an intriguing proposal," Ichigo responded, glancing around at the others, who looked at him in disbelief. "Hear me out. Since we can't resolve this through voting, we shall settle it by combat: me against Kyōraku-Taichō."

"That's not fair," Suì-Fēng objected. "You single-handedly defeated something the entire Gotei couldn't," she pointed out.

"What's your point?" Ichigo asked, unperturbed.

"I'll join Kyōraku," Suì-Fēng declared.

"As you wish. We'll commence Trial by Combat. I will fight against both Kyōraku-Taichō and Suì-Fēng-Fukutaichō to make it a fair contest," Ichigo proposed.

"Agreed!" Suì-Fēng said, eager to proceed before anyone could raise further objections.

"Very well then, we shall hold this trial by combat outside in the First Division's training area," Genryūsai announced. "Tessai Shirei-kan, please gather your best Kidō Masters to assist in setting up a barrier for the trial," he ordered.

"Understood," Tessai replied before shunpō'ing away. The rest of the assembly followed suit, shunpō'ing to the First Division's training field.
