Chapter 20:
Scene Change: First Division's Training Ground
The atmosphere at the First Division's Training Ground was charged with anticipation as everyone arrived. In the center, Ichigo, Suì-Fēng, and Kyōraku stood ready for the upcoming Trial by Combat. It was decided that Toshiro would serve as the judge, as he was deemed the least biased. He positioned himself above the three combatants on a stand that Ichigo had constructed. Surrounding them were Tessei, Hachi, and two other members of the Kidō Corps, all busy setting up a large Kidō barrier to ensure the spectators remained unharmed during the battle.
"Combatants," Toshiro announced, his voice steady. "The rules of this Trial by Combat are simple: everything goes. The fight continues until all members of one side are unconscious or dead. Do you understand?" Ichigo, Suì-Fēng, and Kyōraku nodded in acknowledgment. "You will have sixty seconds to formulate your strategies," Toshiro instructed. Ichigo stood with his arms crossed, while Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku conferred quietly on their side.
"Ichigo," a voice echoed in his mind.
"Yes, Shirayuki?" he replied, recognizing the voice of his Zanpakutō.
"If possible, could you retrieve Katen Kyōkotsu and Suzumebachi from them?" she requested.
"Why?" Ichigo asked, curious.
"I'll explain later," Shirayuki responded, but Toshiro interrupted before Ichigo could reply.
"Combatants!" Toshiro called, regaining their attention. "On my command, the Trial by Combat shall begin." As Ichigo stood there, stifling a yawn, Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku drew their Zanpakutō in preparation. "Combatants… FIGHT!" Toshiro shouted, signaling the start of the battle.
"Sting all enemies to death, Suzumebachi!" Suì-Fēng shouted as she shunpō'ed out of Ichigo's line of sight. Meanwhile, Kyōraku positioned his two blades in a cross formation.
"Flower Wind Rage and Flower God Roar, Heavenly Wind Rage and Heavenly Demon Sneer," Kyōraku intoned, drawing Katen Kyōkotsu from its cross. He cast aside his haori as he charged toward Ichigo. "Irooni Shiro!" he declared, swinging Katen Kyōkotsu at Ichigo.
Ichigo swiftly grabbed both blades between his fingers. "Kuro!" he shouted, delivering a powerful kick to Kyōraku's chest.
"Gah!" Kyōraku gasped as he was knocked back, relinquishing his grip on Katen Kyōkotsu and skidding to the edge of the barrier. Suì-Fēng shunpō'ed toward him. Ichigo, still holding Katen Kyōkotsu, dodged to the left to evade her strike. She pivoted and charged at him again, but Ichigo managed to evade once more. Suddenly, Ichigo felt his back collide with something solid. He glanced behind to find he had reached the edge of the barrier. Seizing the opportunity, Suì-Fēng shunpō'ed in front of him and thrust her Zanpakutō into his chest. As she withdrew Suzumebachi, the iconic butterfly-shaped stamp materialized on Ichigo's skin. The audience gasped collectively at the sight.
"This is it!" Suì-Fēng exclaimed, plunging her weapon into Ichigo's chest again. The butterfly-shaped stamp began to glow red, signaling the activation of Nigeki Kessatsu. A triumphant smile spread across her face.
"Took you this long to use it," Ichigo remarked, causing Suì-Fēng's eyes to widen in disbelief as the red glow faded. All eyes were drawn to Ichigo's chest, where the stamp transformed, glowing purple before vanishing completely.
"What just happened?!" Suì-Fēng yelled, panic in her voice.
"I activated another ability as the King of Souls," Ichigo explained calmly.
"What?" Suì-Fēng asked, bewildered.
"It's simple: what doesn't kill me makes me stronger," Ichigo replied, releasing his hold on Katen Kyōkotsu. Before she could respond, he delivered a sharp punch to Suì-Fēng's gut, sending her crashing into the Kidō barrier on the opposite side of the training ground.
"That was Ikkotsu!" Ukitake commented, his surprise mirrored on the faces of the spectators. Ichigo's newfound strength left everyone in awe. He retrieved Katen Kyōkotsu and shunpō'ed over to Suì-Fēng, who was now in her sealed state, her form no longer resembling the gauntlet. Instead, Suzumebachi appeared as a wakizashi with a yellow hilt reminiscent of a Chinese Dao. Ichigo picked it up as well.
"You can drop the barrier," Ichigo instructed Tessai, who nodded in acknowledgment before deactivating it. Members of the Fourth Division immediately shunpō'ed to the unconscious forms of Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku, placing them on stretchers and transporting them back.
Genryūsai approached Ichigo. "Why are you still holding their Zanpakutō?" he inquired.
"Because Shirayuki wanted to speak with them," Ichigo replied.
"Shirayuki?" Genryūsai echoed, intrigued.
"She used to be Rukia's Zanpakutō until I intervened," Ichigo clarified.
"I see…" Genryūsai mused. "Once you're done with their Zanpakutō, please return them."
"Of course," Ichigo agreed. "When Kyōraku wakes up, you'll inform him about his demotion, right?"
"I will," Genryūsai affirmed as he walked away. "He dares to violate the ethics I taught him… I think someone needs another lesson on ethics," he murmured to himself. Ichigo chuckled as he shunpō'ed away from the First Division's Training Ground, returning to the hidden cavern beneath Sōkyoku Hill. There, he cast a privacy Kidō barrier around himself, settling down to enter Jinzen.
Scene Change: Mindscape
Ichigo found himself in front of a large, familiar Japanese house adorned in black, red, white, and blue. Entering the house, he was greeted by the sight of Kisara, Valiona, Kyōka, Shirayuki, Zangetsu, Yhwach, and Hōgyoku, all seated at one side of a round table. On the opposite side, three Zanpakutō spirits awaited him.
One of them was a tall, violet-haired woman wearing a red ribbon around her neck, with a black eye patch covering her right eye. Her turquoise left eye sparkled with mischief. Her hair was styled into two corkscrew pigtails, framing her face. She wore an indigo cape imprinted with a large skull and the two blades of Katen Kyōkotsu, paired with a long, dark dress that featured a daringly low neckline.
The second Zanpakutō was shorter and appeared younger. She had turquoise eyes and chin-length violet hair styled to expose only her right eye, adorned with a skull decoration. Her dark attire covered her lower face, neck, and arms, consisting of fitted shorts and knee-length socks. A purple hip-length coat fastened at the front with a dark purple sash completed her look, leaving her thighs and midriff exposed.
Ichigo took a moment to scan the room, his attention shifting to the third Zanpakutō spirit.
She appeared as a small young woman with long brown hair tied into two long pigtails. Her pink eyes sparkled with energy, and a white fur collar framed her neck. She wore puffy shorts with alternating yellow and black stripes, paired with black shoes. Each breast was covered by a small yellow-black plate, and her short, puffy sleeves mirrored the striped pattern of her shorts. Strikingly, a segmented, yellow-black stinger—longer than her own body—encased her entire right arm, and Ichigo noticed a faint yellow glow surrounding her.
"So, Suzumebachi and Katen Kyōkotsu," Ichigo began as he settled himself between Zangetsu and Yhwach. "Shirayuki asked me to retrieve the three of you from your masters. Can you explain why? And while we're at it, could you clarify who is 'Katen' and who is 'Kyōkotsu'?"
"My name is Katen," the taller figure replied with a composed demeanor. She gestured toward the smaller one beside her. "This little one here is Kyōkotsu."
"Thank you. Please, continue," Ichigo said, nodding.
Katen spoke again. "You see, during Muramasa's rebellion, all four of us became acquainted. We had plans to escape to the World of the Living together, but Muramasa gave us specific assignments. Kyōkotsu and I were tasked with assisting in sealing Yamamoto-Sōtaichō."
Suzumebachi chimed in. "After that, Muramasa ordered the rest of the Zanpakutō to attack their wielders. Shirayuki tracked down Rukia, while I sought out Suì-Fēng."
"So, this is a chance for all of you to reconnect?" Ichigo asked.
"When we first met, I confided in them about the mistreatment I endured from Rukia," Shirayuki said. "Katen shared her feelings about the lack of connection with Kyōraku, while Suzumebachi expressed her disdain for Suì-Fēng's personality. I also mentioned my bond with you, Ichigo. Upon hearing this, they promised that if I could wield them, I would do my best to rescue them from their current masters."
"Interesting," Ichigo mused. "So all three of you wish to join me as my Zanpakutō?" They nodded in agreement. "But what would happen to Kyōraku and Suì-Fēng if I did this?" Ichigo inquired.
"I cannot say," Katen admitted.
"I suspect that you won't be able to fully integrate Katen, Kyōkotsu, and Suzumebachi as your Zanpakutō," Hōgyoku interjected.
"Why not?" Ichigo asked, puzzled.
"The issue lies in the fact that both Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku are old souls," Hōgyoku explained. "Their souls may not withstand the separation from their Zanpakutō."
"Similar to what happened with Sōkyoku," Kyōka added. The room fell silent as everyone turned to her. "According to historical accounts, the Central 46 ordered the separation of Sōkyoku from its wielder. Once separated, the wielder died, possibly due to the forced severance or the after-effects of the Kidō used."
"Is there any way for them to join us despite this?" Shirayuki pressed.
"Well… there might be a way," Yhwach said, drawing everyone's attention. "We need something to fill the void left by their Zanpakutō when they depart," he explained. "I possess the only technique that could do this and enable them to use their powers."
"You don't mean…?" Ichigo began.
"Yes. We can bestow upon both Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku two schrifts that could imitate Katen Kyōkotsu and Suzumebachi," Yhwach confirmed.
"How would that work?" Kyōka asked.
"I will create the schrift we need. After that, I will make copies of Katen, Kyōkotsu, and Suzumebachi to attach to that schrift," Yhwach elaborated.
"You did something similar with my Shinigami powers before I learned the truth," Ichigo noted.
"Exactly," Yhwach replied.
"So, what do you need us to do?" Katen inquired.
"It will take some time to prepare the schrift. Once completed, we must approach both Suì-Fēng and Kyōraku and perform the switch," Yhwach instructed.
"Understood," Ichigo replied. With that, Yhwach began crafting the schrifts. A few minutes later, he held two sheets of paper in his hands.
"Now, I need Katen and Kyōkotsu to channel their reiatsu into one schrift, while Suzumebachi channels her reiatsu into the other," Yhwach directed. The three Zanpakutō spirits placed their hands on their respective letters and began to pour their reiatsu into their respective schrifts. Slowly, the once-white sheets began to shimmer with shades of purple and yellow.
"Enough," Yhwach commanded, and they ceased their efforts. "I now present to you the schrift L—The Law and the schrift E—The Executor."
"Now that the schrifts are ready, what's the next step?" Ichigo asked.
"We need to bond with them and then hurry to the Fourth Division to bestow the schrifts to Suì-Fēng and Kyōkotsu," Yhwach instructed.
"Very well," Ichigo said. "Katen, Suzumebachi, and Kyōkotsu," he announced as he stood up, "this is your last chance to back out."
"I believe I can speak for everyone here…" Katen said, glancing at Suzumebachi and Kyōkotsu, who both nodded in agreement. "…that we all want this," she concluded.
"Very well," Ichigo affirmed.
"We should formally celebrate our new sisters," Kyōka suggested.
"Sisters?" Katen and Suzumebachi echoed, surprised.
"Yes, sisters," Hōgyoku explained. "Typically, a Zanpakutō embodies all the emotions of their user, serving as the other half of a soul. However, Ichigo doesn't follow the ordinary path." Hōgyoku turned to Katen, Suzumebachi, and Kyōkotsu. "As part of his soul, each of us has merged with different emotions," he clarified.
"I merged with Ichigo's courage, bravery, determination, and hopes," Yhwach shared.
"I merged with Ichigo's instincts, rage, ambitions, and desires," Zangetsu added.
"I merged with Ichigo's intellect, cunning, wisdom, wit, and dreams," Kyōka stated.
"I merged with Ichigo's creativity, trustworthiness, and loyalty," Hōgyoku said.
"I merged with Ichigo's caring, ruthless, lonely, and humble nature," Shirayuki finished.
"I see…" Katen, Suzumebachi, and Kyōkotsu responded, their expressions thoughtful.
"We didn't choose what we took; it is what the soul and we found together," Hōgyoku explained. Katen, Suzumebachi, and Kyōkotsu sat in meditation for a few moments, their auras glowing in a vibrant sequence: first black, then red, blue, green, purple, white, and finally ice blue. In response, Yhwach, Zangetsu, Kyōka, Hōgyoku, and Shirayuki radiated violet followed by yellow. Once the colors settled, all the Zanpakutō stood up and summoned their Shikai.
"I now represent your courage, bravery, and hope," Yhwach declared as he pierced Ichigo with his weapon. Zangetsu followed suit.
"I now embody your instincts, rage, and desires," he proclaimed, also striking Ichigo. Next was Kyōka.
"I now represent your intellect, wisdom, wit, and dreams," she said, driving her blade into Ichigo. Hōgyoku stepped forward next.
"I now symbolize your creativity, trustworthiness, and loyalty," she stated, stabbing Ichigo. Then came Shirayuki.
"I now represent your caring, loneliness, and humble nature," she said as she too struck Ichigo. Finally, Katen and Kyōkotsu united in their declaration.
"We embody your cunning, ruthlessness, innocence, ingenuity, mercilessness, and sense of equality," they said in unison, stabbing Ichigo together. Last was Suzumebachi.
"I represent your determination, ambitions, and playfulness," she announced as she pierced him.
"I accept you all. We are united…" Ichigo affirmed as the combined reiatsu swirled around them in a spectacular display of black, red, blue, green, lavender, ice blue, purple, and yellow.
"…And one for ALL!" everyone shouted in unison. The energy exploded outward harmlessly.
"Now that's taken care of, let's head to the Fourth Division," Ichigo said, leaving his mindscape.
Scene Change
Ichigo emerged from Jinzen and dispelled the Kidō he had set up before entering. He quickly shunpō'ed to the Fourth Division, locating Kyōraku and Suì-Fēng standing close together. Approaching Kyōraku, Yhwach instructed, "You need to cut your hand and let some blood drip into Kyōraku's mouth."
Ichigo found a scalpel and swiftly cut his wrist. He pinched Kyōraku's nose, which instinctively opened his mouth, allowing Ichigo's blood to drip inside. "Now say, 'I, Kurosaki Ichigo, bestow to you, Kyōraku, the schrift L,'" Yhwach directed.
"I, Kurosaki Ichigo, bestow to you, Kyōraku, the schrift L," Ichigo repeated. Kyōraku glowed red for a moment before the light faded. Ichigo followed the same process with Suì-Fēng, encountering no issues. With that, he shunpō'ed out of the Fourth Division.
Noticing it was getting late, Ichigo decided to visit the Shibas. He shunpō'ed to the west side of Seireitei and approached the gates, where he saw Jidanbō standing guard.
"Hello, Jidanbō," Ichigo greeted.
"Hello, Ichigo-sama," Jidanbō replied. Ichigo shunpō'ed toward the Shiba residence, arriving at the familiar house. Two guards stood at the entrance.
"HALT!" one of them commanded.
"Shiba-sama has requested no visitors," the other added. Ichigo sighed.
"Tell her that Kurosaki Ichigo is requesting to see her," he replied.
"Ichigo-sama!" the guards exclaimed.
"We'll inform her immediately!" the first guard said, nodding to the other, who hurried inside. A moment later, Ichigo heard a loud bang as the first guard rushed back out. "Kukaku-sama is ready to see you," he announced.
"Thank you," Ichigo said, entering the Shiba house. A servant guided him to a room where he found a drunken Kukaku and Yoruichi drinking together.
"I-chi-go!" Yoruichi called out, her voice slurring.
"Hello, Yoruichi and Kukaku," Ichigo replied.
"You've been here this whole time and didn't bother to see me?" Kukaku said, her words slightly slurred.
Ichigo sighed. "We'll talk tomorrow," he said, turning to leave, but he was suddenly tackled to the floor by Kukaku and Yoruichi.
"I-chi-go," Yoruichi purred.
"You aren't going anywhere," Kukaku insisted, pinning him down.
"You should enjoy the company of these two women," Yoruichi teased, rubbing her shoulders against Ichigo.
"Yeah," Kukaku chimed in, mirroring Yoruichi's actions on the other side.
"Ladies, please let go of me," Ichigo pleaded, struggling to rise. However, their positioning made it impossible for him to move. Taking a deep breath, Ichigo released a small burst of reiatsu, propelling Kukaku and Yoruichi off of him. Seizing the opportunity, he scrambled to his feet.
As he wandered through the house, Ichigo spotted a dusty room. Before he could enter, a voice called out, "What are you trying to do?"
Ichigo turned to see Ganju, his hair noticeably longer and messier, reaching down to his upper back.
"Hello, Ganju," Ichigo greeted.
"Is that you, Ichigo?" Ganju asked, squinting in disbelief.
"It is," Ichigo confirmed.
"What are you doing in Kaien-niisama's room?" Ganju inquired.
"This is Kaien's room?" Ichigo replied, surprised.
"It is," Ganju affirmed. "What brings you here?"
"I was going to talk to Kukaku, but when I saw her and Yoruichi drunk, I decided to postpone until tomorrow," Ichigo explained.
"Got it," Ganju said. "Let me show you to one of our guest rooms." He led Ichigo to the guest quarters.
"Thank you, Ganju," Ichigo said as he entered the room.
"It's the least I can do for what you did for the people in Rukongai," Ganju replied.
"It's the least I can do to make this 'heaven' for some people," Ichigo said, pulling a futon from the closet and laying it on the floor. After changing out of his robes, he settled in for the night.
Scene Change: Shiba House: Morning
Ichigo woke at five in the morning, rising from the futon to put on his robes. He began discussing powers with Katen, Kyōkotsu, and Suzumebachi. Suzumebachi explained that her Shikai might have changed due to Ichigo's significant strength compared to Suì-Fēng's. She requested that Ichigo focus on improving his Hakuda mastery before they began training in Shikai and then Bankai.
Katen and Kyōkotsu elaborated on their powers, explaining that they revolve around slightly altering reality by adding or changing rules. Given Kyōraku's simple-minded and childlike approach when he awakened Katen Kyōkotsu, he used games as a means to channel her powers. However, Ichigo wouldn't need to restrict their use to games alone. Before beginning Ichigo's training in Shikai, Katen and Kyōkotsu wanted him to determine what medium he preferred for her powers—whether he wanted to use games like Kyōraku or something entirely different.
Ichigo emerged from the guest room and soon found Ganju busy cooking breakfast.
"Hello, Ganju," Ichigo greeted him.
"Hey, Ichigo," Ganju replied, stirring a pot. "Do you want to help?"
"Thanks for the offer, but I can manage. You could try waking up Nee-san and Yoruichi-sama instead," Ganju suggested.
"Sure," Ichigo said, stepping out of the kitchen. He made his way to the room he had seen the night before and slid open the door, finding Kukaku and Yoruichi still fast asleep. Feeling considerate, he approached them and gently shook their shoulders.
"Yoruichi, Kukaku, wake up! Ganju is making breakfast," he said, nudging them.
"Good morning, Ichigo," Yoruichi mumbled, blinking sleep from her eyes.
"It's been a while, kid," Kukaku added, stretching. "What brings you here?"
"I'm just visiting family," Ichigo replied casually.
"Family?" Kukaku asked, her interest piqued. Suddenly, Yoruichi's eyes widened as she realized Kukaku was unaware of Ichigo's lineage.
"Yoruichi didn't tell you?" Ichigo asked, glancing between the two.
Kukaku shot Yoruichi a look that could pierce steel. "Tell me what?"
"That my father is Shiba Isshin," Ichigo revealed.
"WHAT?!" Kukaku exclaimed, her shock palpable. She turned to Yoruichi, who let out a resigned sigh. "You knew all along, and you didn't bother to tell me?" Kukaku demanded.
"It was Isshin's request," Yoruichi tried to explain.
"I don't care! You had no right to interfere with Shiba Clan business. I thought the Shihōin taught you better before you left," Kukaku retorted.
"Hey!" Yoruichi stood up, ready to defend herself. Ichigo sensed the tension escalating.
"Ladies," he interjected, lowering his reiatsu and fixing them both with a steely gaze. "This isn't the time to argue. Isshin has made many questionable choices—this is just one of them. Let it go, and let's focus on breakfast."
Kukaku and Yoruichi exchanged heated glares but ultimately followed Ichigo out of the room.
Breakfast was charged with an awkward atmosphere, the tension between the two women evident in their silence. After the meal, Kukaku seized Ichigo and pulled him aside into a simple bedroom that contained only the essentials.
"So, Ichigo, what do you want to ask me?" Kukaku inquired, crossing her arms.
"I was curious about the Shiba family's Wanderlust," Ichigo replied.
Kukaku paused, then broke into laughter. "It's been ages since anyone mentioned that! But I suppose you could say it varies—sometimes mild, sometimes extreme." She continued, "Ganju has a slight case; he wanders the Rukongai occasionally but always returns, and things go back to normal. My Nii-san, on the other hand, had it much worse. Kaien wanted to follow Uncle Isshin's path as a Shinigami, but he also wanted to stay and care for us. So he decided to follow the wind and wander. He spent years searching, but when he returned, he seemed to have found the answer to his inner conflict."
"I see. Thanks for sharing," Ichigo said as he exited the room. He returned to the dining area, where Yoruichi was still finishing her meal.
"Yoruichi," Ichigo called out.
"Yes, Ichigo?" she replied.
"Do you want to start training this afternoon?" Ichigo asked.
"Sure! Come by the Second Division when you're ready," Yoruichi responded. With that settled, Ichigo bid farewell to everyone and left the Shiba House. Checking his watch, he realized it was almost time to meet the Vizards, so he shunpō'ed back to the Seireitei.
Scene Change: Afternoon at Sōkyoku Hill
Ichigo arrived at Sōkyoku Hill, where the other Vizards were gathered.
"So, Ichigo, Rukia told us you wanted to train us regarding our Hollows," Shinji said.
"Yes," Ichigo affirmed. "Follow me." He led the group to a nearby cave. "I need all of you, except Rukia, to enter Jinzen," Ichigo instructed.
"Why do we need to talk to our Zanpakutō spirits?" Hirako asked, frowning.
"There are two reasons," Ichigo replied. "First, your current training techniques have left you weaker."
"WHAT?!" the Vizards exclaimed in disbelief.
"Allow me to explain," Ichigo continued. "When Aizen infected you with Hollows, your Zanpakutō spirits transformed into the Hollow spirits you encountered in your mindscape. By suppressing your inner Hollow, you're inadvertently suppressing your own power."
"What if it's a trick to set the Hollow free?" Hiyori countered, her brow furrowed.
Ichigo approached her and lightly tapped her on the head. "You need to remember that your inner Hollow is your Zanpakutō spirit," he explained. "Does anyone remember what a Zanpakutō spirit represents?"
Silence filled the air. "Your Zanpakutō is essentially a part of you," Ichigo clarified. "It evolves alongside you. As a Shinigami-Hollow hybrid, your Zanpakutō is a fusion of both your Shinigami and Hollow powers."
"I see…" Hirako said, beginning to grasp Ichigo's perspective.
"You must confront your Zanpakutō spirits. They may respond with rage, but you must stand firm and show them your resolve," Ichigo urged. The Vizards nodded, and one by one, they sat down to enter Jinzen.
Once the original eight Vizards were immersed in their mindscapes, Ichigo summoned the Chains of Hell to bind them, preventing any sudden attacks or escapes.
"Rukia," Ichigo called, gaining her attention. "Show me how strong you've become." He summoned Kōsetsu, preparing to engage.
"Dance, Sode no Shirayuki," he commanded, releasing Shirayuki.
"Reap the memories and fade to black, Kioku Keshigomu," Rukia responded, wielding her scythe. She swung it downward, aiming for Ichigo's legs. He leapt gracefully, pointing Shirayuki at her.
"San no mai, Shirafune!" he declared, unleashing a swift blast of ice toward her. Rukia deftly dodged the attack.
"Shirafune can be used like that?" Rukia thought, surprised. Suddenly, Ichigo reappeared behind her.
"Daishi no mai, Juhaku!" he shouted, stabbing Shirayuki into the ground. A trail of ice surged toward Rukia, who wasn't quick enough to evade it. The ice encased her legs, but she shattered it with her scythe, sending a burst of energy towards Ichigo.
"Go-man no mai, Tsurarada!" Ichigo countered as hail rained down, forcing her attack to explode prematurely. As the dust settled, Rukia looked around frantically, unable to locate him. Just then, she felt the cold edge of a blade at her throat.
"Some no mai, Tsukishiro," Ichigo said, summoning a massive ice pillar beneath them. Breaking the pillar, he carefully laid the unconscious Rukia on the ground before turning his attention back to the other Vizards.
Many bore bruises and cuts from their encounters. Kyōka noted on a clipboard that most wounds were slowly healing. "Looks like you all made it," Ichigo remarked, dismissing the chains.
Hiyori suddenly shunpō'ed over and attempted to kick Ichigo in the groin, only to receive a swift kick to the face in return.
"HEY!" Hiyori yelled, her voice cutting through the air.
"Now that it seems all of you have managed to connect with your Zanpakutō spirits, the next step is to go through each of your releases," Ichigo explained.
"What's the point of that?" Hiyori asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Since you're now accessing your full potential, your Shikai and likely your Bankai will have changed," Ichigo replied.
"How so?" Lisa inquired, curiosity piqued.
"Your Shikai and Bankai might look different or exhibit greater power," Ichigo said, summoning Kokugatsu with a flourish. "Remember how my Shikai used to resemble an oversized khyber knife?" He looked around at the nodding Vizards. "Now, witness the transformation."
Ichigo raised his voice, invoking his release: "Stride forth to the gates of Heaven and tear the Heavens asunder. Charge forth to the gates of Hell and destroy the chains of the damned. Enter the doors of your Humanity and shatter fate… ZANGETSU!" As he completed the chant, Zangetsu split into two blades, shimmering with newfound power. The Vizards gasped in realization as Ichigo sealed Zangetsu, sending Kokugatsu back into his mindscape.
"All of you must master your Shikai and Bankai again before we start training on how to access Resurrección," Ichigo instructed, lowering the Kidō barrier. The Vizards shunpō'ed out of Sōkyoku Hill, leaving Ichigo alone. Glancing at his watch, he decided to head to the Second Division to meet Yoruichi.
Scene Change: Second Division
Ichigo materialized outside the Second Division barracks. As he approached the gate, a squad of Onmitsukidō members appeared, kneeling respectfully.
"Ichigo-sama, how may we assist you?" one of the members asked.
"I'm here to see Yoruichi," Ichigo replied.
"Shihōin-Taichō instructed us to inform you to meet her in her office," the Onmitsukidō member said before the group shunpō'ed away. Ichigo walked through the barracks until he reached the Taichō's office. He knocked on the door.
"Come in," Yoruichi called. Ichigo opened the door, stepping inside.
"Hello, Yoruichi. Are you ready to start my training?" he asked.
"Absolutely. Let's grab something to eat first," Yoruichi replied. Together, they left her office, deftly navigating the various traps laid around the Second Division, before reaching the cafeteria for a quick lunch.
"So, where are we going to train?" Ichigo asked, assuming they'd head to the cave beneath Sōkyoku Hill.
"We're going somewhere private," Yoruichi said with a smile before shunpō'ing away. Ichigo quickly followed.
Scene Change: Shihōin Private Training Ground
Ichigo arrived in a spacious clearing nestled within a forest. "Where are we?" he asked, scanning the serene surroundings.
"This is a private clearing on the Shihōin estate. I used this training ground to teach my younger brother Shunkō," Yoruichi explained.
"You have a brother?" Ichigo asked, intrigued.
"Didn't I show you?" Yoruichi replied, pulling out a photo. Ichigo took a closer look; her brother appeared young, with the same dark complexion as Yoruichi. Instead of her violet hair, he had black hair tied in a thick ponytail. He wore white, fingerless gloves that extended to his elbows, white shoulder pads, and a black outfit adorned with a white band around his waist. "His name is Yūshirō. He was the 23rd Head of the Shihōin but stepped down, allowing me to reclaim my title as the 22nd Head," Yoruichi explained.
"I see," Ichigo said, handing the photo back.
"Anyway, let's see how fast you are with Shunpō," Yoruichi said, putting the photo away and pulling out her ribbon. "Your goal is to get this ribbon." Before she could finish her sentence, Ichigo Sonído'd behind her, snatching the ribbon and shunpō'ing away.
"Hey!" Yoruichi yelled, immediately giving chase. As they raced through the training ground, a stopwatch began timing their playful competition. Seven hours passed since Ichigo had stolen Yoruichi's hair tie, and despite her relentless pursuit, she could not catch him. Ichigo relied on Shunpō and the occasional Sonído to stay just out of her reach, and Yoruichi was astonished by his growth.
Finally, she sighed in defeat and stopped. Ichigo noticed her pause and slowed down beside her.
"So, you give up?" he teased.
"I… do," Yoruichi admitted. Ichigo tossed the hair tie to her, and she caught it, swiftly tying her hair back up.
"Did I pass your test?" Ichigo asked with a grin.
"You did," Yoruichi replied, a smile breaking through her earlier frustration.
"So, what's next?" Ichigo inquired, ready for more.
"Next is testing your Hakuda!" Yoruichi declared, lunging at Ichigo. He grinned and charged forward to meet her attack.
Scene Change: One Year Later
A year had passed in Soul Society since the conclusion of the Thousand Year War, and Ichigo's influence had sparked significant changes. Most of the remaining Shinigami were grateful for his initiatives, particularly the seventh to tenth divisions, which finally had meaningful work to do. The twelfth division welcomed back Urahara, and, most importantly, Central 46 was no more. However, one Shinigami harbored resentment toward these changes: Suì-Fēng. Ever since Ichigo sought Yoruichi's guidance in Hakuda, she had grown increasingly hostile toward him.
In the following weeks, Yoruichi diligently taught Ichigo how to perform Shunkō. Enraged by Ichigo's growing connection with Yoruichi, Suì-Fēng began monitoring Ichigo's training schedule, attempting to distract Yoruichi whenever Ichigo was due to arrive. Yoruichi countered by ordering the entire Second Division to inform her the moment they spotted Ichigo. When they were ready, Ichigo and Yoruichi would shunpō to another location to train, evading Suì-Fēng's attempts to track them down. Each day, Suì-Fēng's frustration mounted as she witnessed Ichigo seemingly steal her beloved Yoruichi away.
Flashback: Shihōin Private Training Ground
"Ichigo, you're almost there!" Yoruichi encouraged, her voice filled with enthusiasm.
"GAH!" Ichigo shouted as he finally managed to form the basic Shunkō. Unlike Yoruichi's and Suì-Fēng's versions, Ichigo's Shunkō displayed no specific element, just pure reiatsu.
"Interesting," Yoruichi remarked, studying him intently.
"What do you mean?" Ichigo asked, dismissing his Shunkō with a frown.
"Your Shunkō doesn't seem to have any elemental affiliation," she explained.
"So?" Ichigo shot back, crossing his arms.
"Both my Shunkō and Suì-Fēng's are tied to elements—lightning, in my case—because of our Zanpakutōs," Yoruichi said. "I theorize that your status as a hybrid, along with Zangetsu's unique nature, might be hindering your Shunkō from evolving."
"What if I can master other elements?" Ichigo challenged the determination in his eyes.
"What?" Yoruichi replied, taken aback. Ichigo took a deep breath, then unleashed a blast of fire from his fist. He stepped forward, sending a boulder soaring into the sky. With a swift motion, he summoned water vapor around his hand, slicing through the boulder. Using the air currents, he suspended the chunks in midair before wrapping them in more water vapor and freezing them solid. Finally, he shot a bolt of lightning, obliterating one of the frozen pieces. From the resulting hole, Ichigo willed forth molten lava, separating it from liquid metal.
"This is bending the elements to my will," Ichigo declared a proud grin on his face.
"Given this ability, you could evolve your Shunkō beyond what Suì-Fēng or I have achieved," Yoruichi replied, her eyes sparkling with newfound respect.
"Thanks," Ichigo said, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
"Before, I thought Suì-Fēng or my own family had a chance to claim my title as Goddess of Flash," Yoruichi admitted, her voice thoughtful. "But after seeing your potential, I can envision you as the next Goddess of Flash."
"You mean God of Flash," Ichigo corrected playfully, shunpō'ing over to Yoruichi, snatching her hair tie, and vanishing again.
"Hey!" Yoruichi yelled, immediately giving chase as they slipped into another game of tag.
Flashback Ended
Another crucial task for Ichigo was educating the Thirteenth Division on how to blend into the World of the Living. He discovered that several members remembered snippets of their past human lives. Ichigo took it upon himself to teach them proper attire, using photos of Renji as a humorous reference for what not to wear. He also informed them about various mystical beings, including Yōkai, Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils. Ichigo explained that certain cities were off-limits until Ukitake-Taichō could negotiate peaceful terms with their leaders. Once those agreements were reached, some Shinigami would be assigned to those areas, enabling them to interact with these mystical beings.
Scene Change: Genryūsai's Office
One morning, Ichigo knocked on Genryūsai's office door.
"Come in," Genryūsai called. Ichigo stepped inside.
"Good morning, Ichigo. It's time to unseal the dimension and synchronize our timelines," Genryūsai said.
"Right. Also, could you gather the other captains for a meeting in the Captains' Assembly Hall?" Ichigo requested.
"Of course," Genryūsai replied, sending thirteen Hell butterflies to summon the remaining captains. Moments later, they began shunpō'ing in. Genryūsai took his place at the head of the table, with Yoruichi seated in the Second Division chair, Rose in the Third, Isane in the Fourth, Hirako in the Fifth, Byakuya in the Sixth, Love in the Seventh, Lisa in the Eighth, Kensei in the Ninth, Toshiro in the Tenth, Kenpachi in the Eleventh, Urahara in the Twelfth, and Ukitake in the Thirteenth. Tessai occupied the Kidō Corps chair.
"Good morning, everyone," Ichigo greeted.
Everyone nodded in acknowledgment. "Now, today is the day I will unseal the dimension," Ichigo continued. "Once I do, you all will be in charge of Soul Society, unless I'm needed." He paused, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Now that the boring stuff is out of the way…" Ichigo gathered his reiatsu. "Ō no meirei, Jigen Kaihō [King's Order, Dimension Release]!" he commanded. In an instant, Ichigo's reiatsu surged forth, enveloping the room before disappearing in a heartbeat. With that, he opened a Garganta and leaped through.
Scene Change: Urahara Shōten
Ichigo emerged from the Garganta to find Mila Rose and Francesca Rose sharing a heartfelt moment, tears streaming down their faces. Nearby, Sung-Sung and Masaki were deep in conversation, while Jinta and Apacci bickered playfully. Uryū was patiently teaching Ururu how to sew. In the corner, Ichigo noticed Nel and Tier still unconscious.
"Hello, everyone!" Ichigo called out. Jinta and Apacci glanced at him but quickly returned to their argument. Mila and Francesca rushed over, wrapping Ichigo in a warm, sisterly hug before returning to their conversation. Ururu waved briefly before continuing her sewing, and Uryū nodded in greeting.
Ichigo walked over to Nel and Tier, sitting beside them as he gently coaxed them awake. "It's time to wake up," he said softly.
Nel stirred first, stretching her arms as she let out a yawn. "Hello, Ichigo," she said, blinking up at him.
"Hello, Nel," Ichigo replied, helping her to her feet. He was surprised to see how close she was to his height. With a shy smile, Nel leaned in and kissed Ichigo on the lips. The moment lingered for a few seconds before she stepped back, allowing Ichigo to turn his attention to Tier, who was finally waking up.
"Mistress!" the fracción members cried in unison.
"Hello, Ichigo," Tier greeted, sitting up with a soft smile.
"Hello, Tier," Ichigo said, settling down next to her.
"So, Kyōka and Hōgyoku told me what you had to do to save me," Tier said, her expression shifting to one of concern. Ichigo nodded. "Why?" she asked, looking him in the eye.
"Why did I save you?" Ichigo clarified.
"Yes," Tier confirmed, her curiosity evident.
"I saved you for several reasons," Ichigo said. "First, it was my way of thanking your fracción for helping me when I was in Hueco Mundo." Tier nodded in understanding. "The second reason is that I saw someone in need of help."
"I see," Tier replied, considering his words carefully before speaking again. "Kurosaki Ichigo, after reflecting on everything I've heard from you, Kyōka, and Hōgyoku... I accept." With that, she pulled Ichigo in for a kiss, catching all her fracción members by surprise. Their mistress kissing a male—especially a Shinigami—was unprecedented. The kiss lasted about five seconds, during which Nel had to help restrain Apacci from doing something impulsive. When Tier finally released Ichigo, she withdrew slightly, her expression serious.
"Now that you're awake, do you wish to rule Hueco Mundo?" Ichigo asked.
"You would allow me to rule?" Tier questioned, her brow furrowing.
"I would," Ichigo affirmed.
"Why?" she pressed.
"It might not seem like it, but I spent a year in Soul Society addressing many of its issues, one of which was the government. I helped to rebuild a new administration that aims to establish peace treaties with the residents of Hueco Mundo and other races," Ichigo explained.
"I understand…" Tier said thoughtfully. "I accept the position."
"What about you, Nel?" Ichigo asked.
"I want to stay with you, but I also want to help Tier with Hueco Mundo," Nel replied earnestly.
"Well… You know that with the peerage link, we'll be mentally connected," Ichigo reminded her.
"Really?" Nel asked, her eyes widening.
"Really," Ichigo confirmed through their bond.
"But I still want to hug you," Nel said, her tone a mix of longing and playfulness.
"I can hear you, you know," Tier interjected, causing Nel to blush while Ichigo chuckled.
"I'll assist Tier," Nel answered, determination evident in her voice.
"What about the rest of you?" Ichigo turned to the other fracción members.
"I'll go with Harribel-sama," Apacci declared, with Sung-Sung nodding in agreement. Mila Rose, however, looked hesitant, glancing between Tier and Francesca.
"I… I…" Mila stammered.
"You wish to stay here," Tier stated, her gaze steady.
"I do," Mila admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Sure," Tier replied, a hint of a smile on her lips.
"What!?" the rest of the fracción exclaimed in unison.
"I'm not blind," Tier said with a smirk. "I can see that this person is very important to you, Mila."
"But… but…" Mila protested, her cheeks flushed.
"Don't worry about the Shinigami going crazy over the fact that I allowed an Arrancar to stay in the World of the Living," Ichigo reassured her. "By the way, another Shinigami and I will meet you at Las Noches to finalize a peace treaty when you're ready."
"Okay," Tier said, opening a Garganta. She, Nel, and the rest of her fracción stepped through before the portal closed behind them.
"Ichigo," Francesca said, approaching him. "Thank you for helping me find my sister."
"No problem. I do this for all my friends," Ichigo replied with a smile. Francesca then left Urahara Shōten, with Mila floating closely behind her.
"Ichigo," Masaki called as she walked up to him. He turned to face her.
"Kaa-san, your situation is a bit unique," Ichigo explained.
"Unique?" Masaki echoed, curious.
"Because you're a spirit, you have three options thanks to my influence," Ichigo said.
"What's the first option?" she asked, intrigued.
"The first is that I can take you to Yuzu and Karin as a ghost, allowing you to live your existence as a spirit," Ichigo offered.
"I'd like to hear the second one," Masaki replied.
"The second option is that I take you to Soul Society and help you join the Gotei 14," Ichigo said.
"Gotei 14?" Uryū and Masaki both questioned.
"One of the changes I made was resurrecting the Kidō Corps and formally adding them as the 14th Division," Ichigo explained.
"I see," Uryū said, nodding.
"What's the third option?" Masaki asked, her curiosity piqued.
"The third option, and the best one, is to resurrect you in a new body while mentally connecting you to me," Ichigo said.
"What do you mean by 'resurrect'? And what do you mean by 'mentally connected'?" Masaki asked, brows furrowing.
"I'm giving you a new body capable of handling all the reiatsu you use, one that can withstand what your old body couldn't," Ichigo clarified.
"And what about being mentally connected?" Masaki pressed.
"Due to the process, you'll be mentally linked to my mind and the minds of others who have gone through this transformation," Ichigo explained.
"You've done this with others?" Masaki asked, astonished.
"I've done this with eight others," Ichigo confirmed.
"I need some time to think about this," Masaki said, her mind racing.
"That's fine. I'll go talk to Uncle Ryūken about what I can do regarding his Quincy powers," Ichigo said, glancing at Uryū. "Uryū, are you back in your body?"
"I am," Uryū replied.
"All right then, let's go see your father," Ichigo said.
"Sure," Uryū agreed. Ichigo grabbed Uryū's hand and shunpō'ed over to Ryūken's house.
Scene Change: Ryūken's House
Ichigo and Uryū arrived at Ryūken's house, and Ichigo knocked on the door. A few moments later, Ryūken opened it.
"Hello, Uryū. Hello, Ichigo," Ryūken greeted them. "How can I help you?"
"I need to talk to you about something important," Ichigo replied, sensing the gravity of the moment. Ryūken sighed, his expression shifting to one of concern.
"Very well," Ryūken said, stepping aside to let them in. Ichigo, Uryū, and Ryūken took a seat in the living room.
"Are Ji-san and Okaa-san home?" Uryū asked. Just then, the spirits of his grandparents floated down to join them.
"What's so important that you wanted the whole family here?" Ryūken inquired, his curiosity piqued.
Ichigo took a deep breath. "A few moments ago, I defeated Jūhabach and absorbed all of his knowledge."
"Wait… you managed to defeat Jūhabach?" Ryūken's eyes widened in disbelief.
"I did," Ichigo confirmed, allowing Ryūken and the other Quincies a moment to absorb the news.
"Please, continue," Ryūken urged.
"Now that I have this newfound knowledge, I've discovered a way to strip Quincies of their powers," Ichigo explained.
"So, you want to know if I would like my powers stripped?" Ryūken deduced.
"Yes," Ichigo affirmed.
"Why?" Ryūken asked, his brow furrowing.
"By removing your powers, I believe it can help offset your sins," Ichigo replied earnestly.
"Will I regain my powers if I die?" Ryūken asked, his voice steady but uncertain.
"I'm not sure," Ichigo admitted. "But I suspect you might retain a portion of your abilities."
"Very well," Ryūken said, steeling himself. "I accept." He turned to the spirits of his late wife and father. "Tou-san, Kanae, I'm sorry for being a terrible son and husband." He raised a hand to halt their response. "I was awful to you, Tou-san, always arguing against everything you taught me. But after everything that's happened, I finally understand. I hope you can forgive me."
"My son," Sōken said, his voice warm. Ryūken looked up at him. "Every time you acted that way, I never hated or blamed you. I understand your struggles. Even if you didn't use your Quincy heritage to help others, you still found ways to assist."
"Kanae," Ryūken continued, turning to his wife. "You were always there for me during my darkest days. I was so happy when you gave birth to our son. I regret disappointing you."
"Ryūken," Kanae replied, her eyes full of love. She reached out, wrapping her arms around him and kissing him tenderly. "I was with you every step of the way. Even though I didn't approve of how you treated Uryū, you did what you could, and I recognize that." They smiled at Ryūken, who felt a sense of warmth wash over him.
"I'm ready," Ryūken finally said, turning back to Ichigo.
"Okay. I just need to place my hand on your forehead," Ichigo said as he positioned himself.
"Auswählen," Ichigo intoned, and suddenly, energy began to leak from Ryūken's body.
"GAH!" Ryūken yelled as his Quincy powers were forcibly stripped from him. The intensity of the process caused him to scream in pain, but after a few moments, the sound subsided.
"Ryūken," Ichigo asked, his tone serious. "How do you feel?"
"I feel like something I didn't even realize was there has been taken from me," Ryūken responded, bewildered.
"Ryūken!" Kanae floated closer, trying to get his attention, but she drifted past him.
"Why is everyone looking at me with such sadness?" Ryūken asked, confused.
"Your wife just demonstrated that you no longer have your Quincy powers," Ichigo clarified gently.
"I see," Ryūken said, meeting Uryū's gaze. "Son, I want you to know that whether you choose to keep your powers or discard them, I will always love you."
"So, Uryū, do you want to keep your powers?" Ichigo asked, turning to him.
"I…" Uryū hesitated, closing his eyes in contemplation. "I still do," he finally said.
"But Uryū—" Kanae began, but Ichigo raised a hand to stop her.
"Uryū, what if I give you something similar to your Quincy powers as a replacement?" Ichigo proposed.
"What do you mean?" Uryū asked, intrigued.
"I'll take your Quincy powers away, but I'll replace them with something else that functions similarly," Ichigo explained.
"What kind of power?" Uryū inquired, his interest piqued.
"I will remove your Quincy powers and give you a new ability that works in tandem with your existing abilities," Ichigo stated firmly.
"Then do it," Uryū said, determination filling his voice.
"All right," Ichigo said, placing his hand on Uryū's forehead. "Auswählen," he repeated, and energy surged from Uryū's body.
"GAH!" Uryū screamed as the pain of losing his Quincy powers overtook him. After a few agonizing moments, he fell silent.
"Uryū," Ichigo said, concerned. "How do you feel?"
"I feel weak and empty, like when I used Letzt Stil," Uryū admitted, his voice shaky.
"Good. Here's the next part," Ichigo said, preparing himself. He began to form a white ball of reiatsu, a small black sphere forming within it. Before anyone could react, Ichigo thrust the ball into Uryū's body.
"GAH!" Uryū cried out as he fell to his knees, the intensity of the transformation overwhelming him. A few seconds passed, and he slowly regained his composure.
"Uryū, can you get up?" Ichigo asked, watching as Uryū shakily rose to his feet.
Ichigo noticed Uryū's body was trembling. "Uryū, I want you to focus on your Quincy Cross and slowly pull reiatsu from your body," Ichigo instructed.
Uryū shot him a questioning look. "Just do it," Ichigo urged.
Sighing, Uryū closed his eyes and shifted his focus inward, gathering the reiatsu within him rather than drawing on the reishi around them. Gradually, reiatsu coalesced around Uryū's Quincy Cross, forming a bow. Unlike his previous weapon, which had been blue and white, this new bow was black and white.
"Uryū," Ichigo called, gaining his attention. "You're no longer a Quincy, but I've given you the ability to draw on reiatsu to form your bow. Your arrows now purify instead of destroying Hollows."
"Thank you," Uryū said, his voice filled with gratitude. Ichigo then turned to Kanae and Sōken.
"Do you both wish to remain in the World of the Living or do you want to move on?" Ichigo asked, his tone serious. Kanae glanced at Sōken, who nodded reassuringly.
"We believe it's time for us to move on," Kanae answered softly.
"As you wish," Ichigo replied. "Take a moment to talk to Uryū one last time before I guide you both to the next stage." With that, Uryū, Kanae, and Sōken stepped out of the room for a private conversation. A few minutes later, Ichigo noticed Uryū returning with slightly puffy eyes, a sign of his emotional farewell.
"Are you two ready?" Ichigo asked gently. They nodded, and Ichigo summoned Tsuki no Hansha, performing Konsō. The two spirits smiled, their forms shimmering before they vanished into the ether.
"Call me if you need anything," Ichigo said, then shunpō'd back to Urahara Shōten.
Scene Change: Urahara Shōten
Ichigo entered Urahara Shōten to find Masaki deep in thought, considering the proposal he had made. He took a seat across from her.
"Kaa-san, what do you want to do?" Ichigo asked, breaking the silence.
"I want to choose the third option," Masaki replied, her resolve clear.
"Are you sure?" Ichigo asked, wanting to ensure her decision was final.
"I've thought it through, and I've decided this is what I want," Masaki said firmly.
"Very well. About the Schrift that Jūhabach gave you—do you still want it?" Ichigo inquired, watching her closely.
"I do," Masaki admitted, glancing at the Quincy Shield.
"Then let me fully fuse that Schrift to your soul," Ichigo said, placing his hand on Masaki's forehead. Before she could respond, he forced the Schrift to shatter, merging it completely with her essence. He withdrew his hand and looked at her expectantly. "How do you feel?"
"I feel stronger," Masaki replied, a spark of determination lighting her eyes. "I also feel more connected to this shield."
"Great! Let's get started," Ichigo said, summoning a pawn piece.
"What's that?" Masaki asked, intrigued.
Ichigo spent the next few minutes explaining each of the Chaos Pieces. "But why a pawn piece instead of a rook?" Masaki asked, curiosity evident in her tone.
"I'm giving you a pawn piece because I believe its versatility will suit you better," Ichigo explained.
"All right," Masaki said, accepting his choice. Ichigo pushed the piece inside her body, and a radiant glow enveloped her—black, white, red, blue, purple, and yellow. As the light subsided, Masaki stood tall, marveling at her transformation.
"I'm alive… I'm ALIVE!" she exclaimed, joy radiating from her.
"Come on, let me take you to where Yuzu and Karin are," Ichigo said, grinning.
"You know where Yuzu and Karin are?" Masaki asked, her excitement palpable.
"Who do you think has been taking care of them?" Ichigo replied playfully. With that, he opened a Garganta, and they stepped through together.
Scene Change: Kuoh
As Yuzu and Karin arrived back home in Kuoh, they noticed a Garganta opening nearby. Ichigo and Masaki emerged from it, and the girls rushed forward.
"Ichi-nii! Kaa-san!" they cried, enveloping Ichigo and Masaki in a warm embrace.
"Hello, girls," Masaki said, her heart swelling with joy.
"Yuzu, Karin," Ichigo greeted them, then added, "Kaa-san has decided to join us in the peerage."
"Really!?" the girls exclaimed in unison.
"Really," Ichigo confirmed with a smile.
"Are you two in the peerage as well?" Masaki asked, her curiosity piqued. Just then, Ichigo's phone began to ring.
"Girls, please explain to Kaa-san about the peerage. I need to take this call," Ichigo said as he stepped out of the room. He glanced at his phone and saw that it was Mokuba calling. "Hello?" Ichigo answered.
"Ichigo!" Mokuba's voice was frantic.
"What's happened?" Ichigo asked, sensing urgency.
"A week ago, Seto left Domino City on his private jet. He's done this before, so I didn't think much of it. But he's never been gone this long," Mokuba explained, concern lacing his words.
"Do you have any leads?" Ichigo pressed.
"According to the tracker, Seto's last known location is Egypt," Mokuba reported.
"I see," Ichigo replied, piecing together the information. "Kyōka," he thought.
"Already on it," Kyōka responded from the depths of his mind.
"I'll see what I can do," Ichigo said before ending the call.
"Ichigo," Kyōka continued, "Yomu Kioku indicates that Seto was dueling someone named Bakura, who mentioned Egypt."
"Any more details?" Ichigo asked, eager for clarity.
"It seems Yugi and the others are also in Egypt. They've met the Ishtars and have been taken somewhere by Shadi," Kyōka informed him.
"Very well," Ichigo said, determination setting in. He walked back to the group. "I have some business to attend to," he said, ripping open a Garganta and jumping through.
Scene Change: Ishtar's Home
Ichigo appeared outside the Ishtar residence, having gleaned its location from Yugi and his friends' memories. He knocked on the door, waiting patiently. Moments later, the door opened just enough for an eye to peer through the gap. After a brief pause, the door swung wide open to reveal Marik.
"Ichigo!" Marik exclaimed in surprise.
"Hello, Marik," Ichigo greeted him.
"How can I help you?" Marik asked curiosity in his gaze.
"Where are Yugi and his friends?" Ichigo asked, cutting to the chase.
"They're currently in another realm," Marik replied. "I'll explain inside." He led Ichigo into the house and down to the basement, flipping on a light switch to reveal the stone tablet from the museum.
"They've entered the realm to find the Pharaoh's memories," Marik explained.
"Is there any way for me to enter that realm?" Ichigo inquired, his resolve unwavering.
"According to Shadi, you can enter by finding the correct memory door in the pharaoh's mind," Marik explained.
"I see. Thank you," Ichigo replied. With a determined focus, Kyōka quickly searched through Yugi's memories, seeking the path needed to enter the memory realm. Suddenly, a radiant light enveloped Ichigo, and he vanished.
Scene Change: Memory Realm: Ancient Egypt
"The light of hope..." the pharaoh murmured as he struggled to stand. "I can't give up yet! I believe in my friends who came here to fight alongside me!"
"Fool! Haven't you figured it out?" Zorc snarled. "Do you know what feeds the darkness that allows me to grow?" he taunted. Before the pharaoh could respond, Zorc continued, "It is humanity itself that nurtures the darkness!"
"What?" the pharaoh exclaimed.
"Amid light, the only way for men to understand themselves is to turn to the darkness and confront their own shadows!" Zorc thundered. "Without my darkness, you humans would be mere drones, never questioning your existence. The endless wars and slaughter among men are the instincts of mankind, the necessary adjustments for survival!"
"Shut up!" the pharaoh retorted, his voice strained. But Zorc ignored him, reveling in his monologue.
"Thus, with my powers, I will create a world of eternal darkness! I'll grant you mortals an endless Hell!" Zorc proclaimed.
"Shut up!" the pharaoh shouted again, collapsing to his knees from exhaustion. Zorc let out a mocking laugh.
"Pharaoh! Witness the destruction of your land with your own eyes! Then succumb to the eternal darkness!" Zorc sneered.
"I… won't let myself fall here!" Yugi declared defiantly. Zorc charged up a red energy blast, but before he could unleash it, a new energy blast interrupted him.
"WHO DARES!" Zorc roared.
"I do," Ichigo said, appearing resolutely beside the pharaoh.
"Ichigo," the pharaoh acknowledged, relief washing over him.
"Don't worry, help is on the way," Ichigo assured him, gesturing to four glowing stars in the distance. The pharaoh's eyes widened as he recognized his friends.
"You… You… SAMURAI!" Zorc howled in fury. Ichigo locked eyes with Zorc.
"It's been a long time since I helped seal you away, hasn't it, Aku?" Ichigo shouted.
Zorc erupted into laughter. "Foolish Samurai, you may have defeated me long ago, but now I am stronger, having absorbed new powers!" he boasted, charging up another red energy blast. Ichigo responded by launching a nameless Getsuga at Zorc's attack, causing it to explode in Zorc's face.
Ichigo shunpō'd closer to Zorc. "Getsuga Tenshō!" he cried out. Zorc dodged, but Ichigo's attack sliced through the air, severing Zorc's left arm.
"GAH!" Zorc bellowed in pain. Meanwhile, Yugi and his friends reached the pharaoh's side.
"Pharaoh, we did it! We found your name," Yugi said, excitement in his voice.
"Really!? What is it?" the pharaoh asked eagerly.
"It was…" Yugi hesitated, suddenly realizing the issue. "I don't know how to say it," he admitted, panic creeping into his tone. Zorc laughed cruelly.
"You fool! Without that name, you're finished!" he taunted, only to be interrupted by another blast from Ichigo.
"Hurry! Figure out a way to tell the pharaoh his name. I'll keep Zorc busy!" Ichigo said as he launched more Getsuga Tenshōs at Zorc, creating a diversion. As the battle raged on, Yugi and his friends finally revealed the pharaoh's name. A radiant white glow enveloped him.
"Pharaoh, can you read the symbols?" Téa urged.
"Do you know what your name is?" Yugi pressed.
"Yes! My ancient name has been revealed. I am King Atem!" Atem declared, his voice strong. The world around him began to shine with blinding light. "And now, mighty gods of Egypt, I summon you back!" Atem commanded.
Suddenly, Yugi's deck emitted a brilliant glow. Red, blue, and yellow light shot forth, streaking past Zorc and landing on the lifeless forms of the Egyptian gods. In an instant, a magnificent pillar of light shot up into the sky before vanishing, revealing the three revived Egyptian God cards.
"Do you think they'll win this time?" Téa asked, anxiety evident in her voice.
"The Egyptian God cards are powerless against me!" Zorc scoffed. "You've tried this before, and it has failed!"
"You're right about that," Atem replied, a glimmer of determination in his eyes. "But there's something I didn't do last time: fuse them together!"
As Atem spoke, Obelisk the Great, Osiris the Heavenly Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra began to glow and merge into one. "I now bring forth the Creator God of Light, Horakhty!" Atem proclaimed.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Zorc roared as the Creator God of Light, Horakhty, appeared before them. Horakhty charged up a sphere of light and unleashed it at Zorc. "GHAH!" Zorc cried as his physical form began to crack under the force.
Suddenly, Zorc exploded, revealing a human-like entity with a black body, a green mouth, and a long red beard extending from his chin. Six horns adorned his head—four long and two short—with eyebrows made of flickering red flame. His figure ended in a robe of darkness.
"Welcome back, Aku," Ichigo said, his voice steady. Aku looked down, recognizing Ichigo.
"SAMURAI!" Aku roared, only to find himself ensnared by Kidō.
"Who's this?" Atem inquired, bewildered.
"This is Aku, the true embodiment of evil and darkness. I sealed him away long ago, but it seems his seal weakened, allowing him to absorb dark magic and evolve into Zorc," Ichigo theorized. "Atem, can you direct the Creator God of Light to flood Aku with as much holy energy as possible?"
"Sure," Atem replied, as Horakhty began to envelop Aku with radiant light.
"IT BURNS!" Aku shrieked, writhing in agony. Ichigo began casting various Kidō infused with holy light, gradually trapping Aku in a white coffin covered in Japanese kanji and ancient runes. Ichigo then forced the earth to open, dropping the sealed Aku deep into the ground before closing it securely.
"It's finally done," Atem said, relief evident in his voice.
"Atem!" someone called. Everyone turned to see the Creator God of Light, Horakhty. "Three thousand years ago, you were unable to defeat Zorc with only your power," Horakhty began.
"Horakhty…" Atem said, recognition dawning.
"At that time, you chose to seal yourself alongside Zorc. But now, with Zorc revived, you have friends to protect you and companions to support you. Only through the unity of many can you gather the strength needed to defeat Zorc and seal him away. The power of one is not enough. When the strength of all is combined, anything becomes possible." Horakhty declared, glowing brightly before splitting into the three Egyptian God cards once more.
"Hello, Osiris, Ra, and Obelisk," Ichigo greeted respectfully.
"What do you want, Shinigami?" Osiris asked, eyeing him with curiosity.
"I wish to see if I can receive your blessing for the Death Quest," Ichigo replied earnestly.
"It has been a very long time since anyone approached me about the Death Quest," Osiris remarked thoughtfully. After a brief pause, he continued, "I will grant your request. However, upon completing Atem's final task, you must assist in releasing all the trapped souls within the Millennium Items."
"Wait. I thought the Millennium Items no longer contained any trapped souls," Ichigo said, confusion crossing his face.
"Technically, there are no individual souls left. The souls once trapped in the items have merged into singular entities," Osiris clarified.
"I see. I accept," Ichigo stated firmly. With that, the three Egyptian Gods vanished, and Atem passed the title of Pharaoh to Priest Seto before everyone returned to the real world.
Scene Change: Egypt: Tablet of Lost Memories
Ichigo and the others awakened from their spiritual journey. Marik and Ishizu quickly explained Atem's final task, prompting them to board a boat to the Temple of the Realm of the Dead. Once they arrived at the secret temple, Marik revealed the nature of Atem's final task: he must duel someone and lose. This sparked a heated argument between Joey and Kaiba over who should face Atem. Finally, Yugi stepped forward.
"I'll duel Atem," Yugi declared, determination shining in his eyes. With that, the final duel was set for the next day. Marik and Ishizu arranged rooms for everyone to spend the night. Meanwhile, Ichigo took the opportunity to arrange a meeting for Ukitake.
"Yasaka?" Ichigo asked through the peerage link.
"Yes, Ichigo?" Yasaka responded, her tone laced with sleepiness.
"Did I wake you?" Ichigo inquired.
"It's like 3 AM (1) here," Yasaka replied, annoyance creeping into her voice.
"Sorry! It's 8 PM here in Egypt," Ichigo explained.
"What do you need?" Yasaka asked, trying to shake off her grogginess.
"I'm planning to arrange a meeting this evening, Japan time, between the three factions, you, and the Soul Society," Ichigo said, sensing her sudden interest.
"What!?" Yasaka exclaimed.
"How did you manage to get Soul Society off their lazy butts to do this?" she asked incredulously.
"A lady shouldn't swear," Ichigo teased.
"If your future mate woke you up at 3 AM to surprise you with an important political meeting, you wouldn't care either!" Yasaka shot back.
"True," Ichigo admitted. "Anyway, can you set it up?"
"Very well," Yasaka agreed.
"Thank you," Ichigo said gratefully. He then pulled out his phone and dialed Sirzechs's number. After a few rings, Sirzechs finally answered.
"Hello, whoever you are, this better be important to call me at this hour," Sirzechs grumbled, still half-asleep.
"It's Ichigo," Ichigo replied.
"Ichigo! What's so important that you need to call me at this hour?" Sirzechs asked, fully waking up.
"Can you contact Azazel and Michael to meet me at Yasaka's temple this evening?" Ichigo requested.
"Wait... say that again," Sirzechs replied, processing the information.
"Can you get the faction leaders to meet with me at Yasaka's temple tonight?" Ichigo clarified.
"Fine. Can I go back to sleep now?" Sirzechs asked, clearly frustrated.
"Sure. Meet there at…" Ichigo began, suddenly realizing Yasaka hadn't specified a time.
"7 PM," Yasaka chimed in through the link.
"Thanks," Ichigo replied, acknowledging her. "7 PM," he reiterated to Sirzechs.
"Okay," Sirzechs confirmed before hanging up. Ichigo then opened a Garganta and stepped through.
Scene Change: Thirteenth Division
A Garganta opened just outside the Thirteenth Division, causing some Shinigami to pause and glance at it suspiciously. Ichigo emerged, the portal closing behind him. The onlookers quickly resumed their tasks, accustomed to Ichigo's presence. Ignoring their stares, Ichigo strode purposefully through the corridors, lost in thought about the upcoming meeting.
Suddenly, he collided with someone, causing her to stumble and drop various papers onto the floor.
"Sorry! Let me help you with that," Ichigo said, bending down to pick up the scattered paperwork. The woman quickly joined him, gathering the papers.
"Thank you for your help," she said, her voice warm. Ichigo took a moment to look at her closely. She was a striking young woman with a voluptuous figure, long black hair, and violet eyes. Her hair was styled in a long ponytail that reached her legs, secured with a violet ribbon. She wore the traditional Shinigami robes, and a zanpakutō rested at her side. Ichigo felt an odd sense of familiarity.
"Sorry to be rude, but what is your name?" Ichigo asked.
"My name is Himejima Shuri," she replied.
"You wouldn't happen to know someone named Akeno, would you?" Ichigo asked, curious.
"That is my daughter's name," Shuri confirmed.
"Well, this makes things a little easier," Ichigo said with a smile. "Follow me to Ukitake's office." He led her through the halls until they reached the door to Ukitake's office and knocked.
"Come in," Ukitake called from inside. Ichigo opened the door and entered with Shuri.
"Ichigo-kun and Himejima-san. What can I do for you?" Ukitake asked, looking up from his desk.
"I arranged for you to meet the three faction leaders and the Yōkai leader tonight," Ichigo announced.
"WHAT!?" both Ukitake and Shuri exclaimed in shock. Ukitake turned to Shuri, eyes wide.
"You know about the three factions?" he asked.
"My husband is a member of the Fallen Angel faction," Shuri explained.
"I see," Ukitake replied, nodding in understanding.
"Correction: Baraqiel is the current Vice Governor-General of the Fallen Angels and Grigori," Ichigo interjected.
"Really?" Shuri asked, surprised. "I didn't know he held such a high position."
"Anyway, tonight at 7 PM, you will meet with the three faction leaders and the Yōkai leader to discuss terms for a peace treaty," Ichigo continued.
"I see. I trust you'll be coming with me?" Ukitake asked.
"Yes, I will," Ichigo affirmed.
"What about me?" Shuri asked, glancing between them.
"You're coming along to reunite with your husband and daughter," Ichigo replied with a reassuring smile.
"REALLY?" Shuri exclaimed.
"Really," Ichigo confirmed, just as Shuri enveloped him in a warm hug.
"Thank you!" she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
"No… problem," Ichigo replied, slightly surprised by her enthusiasm.
"Ukitake, I want you to keep her identity covered until we formally start the meeting," Ichigo instructed. "I'll also try to arrange for Akeno to be there."
"Very well," Ukitake agreed.
"Thank you!" Shuri said, her eyes shining with appreciation for Ichigo's efforts.
"All right then. I'll see all of you tonight," Ichigo said as he stepped back into the Garganta.
Scene Change: Temple of the Realm of the Dead
Ichigo emerged from the Garganta, his mind racing with thoughts about ensuring that Akeno and Baraqiel would attend the meeting. Without hesitation, he dialed Sirzechs's number.
"What else do you want?" Sirzechs groaned, sounding groggy.
"Can you make sure Akeno and her father attend this meeting?" Ichigo asked.
"Sure, anything else?" Sirzechs replied, trying to shake off sleep.
"Nope," Ichigo said before hanging up. Feeling satisfied with his progress, he decided it was time to get some rest.
The next morning, Ichigo awoke to find Yugi already up.
"Sup," Ichigo greeted.
"Hello, Ichigo," Yugi replied with a smile.
"Are you ready?" Ichigo asked, preparing for the day ahead.
"I am," Yugi said firmly.
As Ishizu called everyone to breakfast, the group gathered in tense silence. Ichigo could sense the unease in the room, the weight of what was about to happen pressing on everyone. Breakfast passed quietly, and soon it was time for the ritual to begin [Like Canon].
The duel that followed was extraordinary. Yugi and Atem poured their hearts into it, each giving their absolute best. When Atem summoned all three Egyptian God cards, a wave of doubt swept over the spectators. It seemed impossible for Yugi to prevail against such overwhelming power—no one had ever defeated all three Egyptian Gods in a single battle. Yet, against all odds, Yugi managed to outmaneuver them.
In the end, Yugi emerged victorious, completing the ritual and marking the end of Atem's journey. While the others gathered around to bid Atem farewell, Ichigo approached the Millennium Stone, where the seven Millennium Items rested in place. Drawing Kokugatsu, Ichigo lightly tapped its blade against the Eye of Anubis on the Millennium Eye. A kanji symbol, 魂葬 [Konsō, appeared on the Millennium Eye, glowing faintly.
Ichigo repeated this process for each of the remaining Millennium Items. As he completed the ritual, the kanji began to glow a bright, ethereal blue. Cracks spiderwebbed across the surface of each Millennium Item, and faint orbs of light began to seep out. Ichigo counted them carefully. When the 99th ball of light escaped, the Millennium Items shattered into golden particles, scattering into the air.
The freed orbs lingered for a moment before floating gracefully toward the open gate, disappearing into its glowing expanse. Ichigo silently dismissed Kokugatsu, sending the blade back to his mindscape.
As the fragments of the Millennium Items dissolved, a sudden red light shot from Atem's Duel Disk. The light coalesced, forming the immense head of Osiris, its eyes blazing with a fiery intensity.
"Hello, Osiris," Ichigo greeted.
"Hello, Kurosaki Ichigo," Osiris replied.
"Are you here to fulfill your side of the bargain?" Ichigo asked.
"I am," Osiris affirmed. "I, Osiris, God of the afterlife, death, life, and resurrection, grant you my blessing for the Death Quest," he declared. Ichigo glowed red for a few moments before Osiris continued, "I have completed my part of the bargain. Good luck, Kurosaki Ichigo." With that, Osiris disappeared in a shower of red particles.
With the blessing secured, Atem turned toward the gate and walked through it. As the doors began to close, the temple shook violently. Everyone quickly fled the building. With their final mission accomplished, the Tombkeepers were finally free of their legendary duty. Ishizu arranged a flight to take Yugi and his friends home, while Ichigo informed Seto that he had some personal business to attend to and would meet him later. Seto nodded, boarding his Blue-Eyes Jet before taking off.
Glancing at his watch, Ichigo realized it was almost time for the meeting. He swiftly opened a Garganta and jumped through.
Scene Change: Yasaka's Temple
Ichigo landed on the front steps of Yasaka's temple, where a servant guided him to the designated meeting room. Upon entering, Ichigo noticed Akeno fidgeting slightly with nerves, while Azazel and Baraqiel waited patiently, along with Michael. Ukitake and Shuri, whose identity remained concealed, exchanged curious glances with the others. Yasaka sat regally, embodying her role as a princess.
"Looks like everyone is here," Ichigo said, scanning the room. Everyone nodded in agreement. "Due to my connections with everyone present, I will act as the mediator for this meeting. Does anyone object?" he asked. No one objected. "Before we proceed, Baraqiel and Akeno, could you please stand?"
The two stood up, visibly confused. "Guests, please reveal yourselves," Ichigo instructed. Shuri lowered her hood, causing Akeno to gasp and Baraqiel to stare in shock.
"K-kaa-san…" Akeno whispered, her voice barely above a breath.
"Shuri…" Baraqiel said, taken aback.
"I'm back," Shuri said softly. Akeno and Baraqiel rushed over, embracing Shuri tightly. Ichigo watched as tears welled up in all three of their eyes.
"I think we should move to another room to give this family some privacy," Ichigo suggested. Everyone agreed and began to exit. Yasaka was the first to leave, followed by Ichigo and Michael. Sirzechs walked past Akeno, whispering, "Stay here and spend some time together as a family."
"But…" Akeno began, but Sirzechs ignored her, continuing on his way. Meanwhile, Azazel approached Baraqiel, encouraging him to stay with his family. Ukitake smiled at Shuri and nodded before leaving the room.
Once in the next room, the actual meeting commenced. Ukitake explained to Sirzechs, Azazel, Michael, and Yasaka the purpose of the Shinigami.
"So, let's say a stray devil or one of our enemies is encountered by your Shinigami. What would that Shinigami do?" Sirzechs asked.
"The Shinigami assigned to that area would be instructed to detain the stray devil or enemy and turn it over to you or a trusted ally. If the Shinigami is unable to detain them, then they are authorized to eliminate the threat," Ukitake explained.
Sirzechs nodded in acceptance of the answer, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Who would that Shinigami be?" Michael inquired.
"How many cities have the three factions claimed?" Ukitake asked, shifting the focus of the discussion.
"Officially, only Kuoh Town is the territory we've claimed," Sirzechs replied.
"Officially?" Ukitake echoed, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," Yasaka confirmed. "Currently, Kuoh Town is the only place where Devils, Fallen Angels, and Angels can coexist. However, I'm aware that a few Devils and Fallen Angels have left Kuoh Town to live among humans in various cities," she added, casting a pointed glare at Sirzechs and Azazel.
"Let's get back to the meeting," Ichigo interjected, regaining everyone's attention. "Does anyone have any objections to this treaty?"
"I do," Azazel said. "Who would the Shinigami stationed in Kuoh Town be?"
"If she's strong enough, it would likely be Himejima-san," Ukitake suggested.
"Very well," Azazel acknowledged.
"Any more questions?" Ichigo asked, scanning the room. Everyone shook their heads in unison. Ichigo then summoned a piece of paper and a pen. "In this peace treaty, if any faction needs assistance and requests aid, all other factions will provide support," he stated as he began to write. "Additionally, in the event of an encounter with any enemy, they will be detained for the appropriate forces to handle," he continued, jotting down the details. "Am I missing anything?"
Once again, everyone shook their heads. Ichigo drew five lines at the bottom of the paper and passed it around for signatures. After everyone had signed, he made copies and distributed them. With that completed, the meeting was formally closed. Michael and Sirzechs left, while the others returned to the previous room to inform everyone of the decisions made. Ukitake looked at Shuri and wished her good luck before opening a Senkaimon and departing. Azazel summoned a transportation circle, and everyone stepped into it.
Later, Ichigo and Yasaka enjoyed a quiet dinner together. Ichigo recounted everything he had done since leaving Kyoto. Suddenly, a knock echoed through the room. Yasaka sighed as she rose and walked to the door, pulling it open to reveal one of her many maids.
"Yes?" Yasaka asked.
"There is an important phone call waiting for you," the maid replied.
"Who is it?" Yasaka inquired.
"One of the Dark Lords," the maid answered. Yasaka sighed again.
"Very well," Yasaka said, turning to Ichigo. "I'm sorry, Ichigo, but I need to—"
"Yasaka, I understand. I'll entertain Kunou until you're finished," Ichigo offered as he left the room. He made his way to Kunou's room and played with his 'daughter.' Twenty minutes later, after putting Kunou to bed, Ichigo stepped out of the room, only to be met by a maid who guided him to Yasaka's office.
Ichigo entered and took a seat. "What happened?" he asked.
"One of my acquaintances is the headmaster of an academy called Yōkai Academy. His goal is for Yōkai and humans to coexist peacefully. He has some information on Moka's whereabouts, and in exchange, he wants you to train a few students," Yasaka explained.
"I see…" Ichigo said thoughtfully. "Tell him I'd like to see the students and receive the information before making a decision."
"Very well. My acquaintance's name is Tenmei Mikogami. He wears white robes that cover his entire body and head; the only visible feature is his glowing yellow eyes peeking from the shadows of his hood. He's sent someone to escort you to his academy tomorrow afternoon," Yasaka said.
"Sounds good. I'll see you then," Ichigo said before opening a Garganta and jumping through.
Scene Change: Seto's Office
Ichigo stepped out of the Garganta to find Seto poring over various documents. He approached Seto's desk and took a seat in a nearby chair. Moments later, Seto put down his paperwork.
"What do you need?" Seto asked.
"I'm here to let you know that Eu and I will be quitting our bodyguard positions," Ichigo said.
"Very well," Seto replied, a hint of disappointment in his voice. "While it's unfortunate that you two are leaving, I can understand your reasons. You mentioned you would be here until your mission was complete, correct?"
Ichigo nodded. "With Atem laid to rest, our job is done."
"Understood. We will be gone in the morning," Ichigo confirmed.
"All right, the pay for the rest of the month will be sent in two days. Anything else?" Seto asked.
"Nope," Ichigo replied as he stood up and exited the office.
Ichigo walked to Eu's room and knocked on the door. She opened it and wrapped her arms around him in a warm embrace.
"I missed you," Eu said, her eyes sparkling with joy.
"I missed you too. Can I come in?" Ichigo asked, stepping inside as she moved aside.
"I'm letting you know that we're leaving tomorrow," Ichigo said, his tone serious.
"Where are we going?" Eu asked, tilting her head in curiosity.
"I'm sorry, but I can't bring you along on this trip," Ichigo apologized, sensing her disappointment.
"Very well," Eu said, her voice slightly dejected. "I'll be visiting some old acquaintances in the Underworld." With that, she teleported away using Yūyami.
Sighing, Ichigo left Eu's room, opened a Garganta, and jumped through. He landed right outside Yasaka's bedroom and knocked on the door. It slid open to reveal Yasaka, looking ready for bed. She pulled Ichigo inside, and together, they settled down for the night.
