Chapter 51:
"Outside interference," Ichigo said, glancing at an empty wall of the temple. Everyone turned their attention to the wall, confused. "Someone wrote the story and quickly realized the characters weren't following the plot. So, the writers tried to force the characters to stay on track." The Olympians understood who Ichigo was referring to. Slowly, the air around the empty wall rippled, revealing the 'outside interference.'
"You," Zeus said, his voice low and full of recognition. The ripple revealed three ancient women with silver hair and bony arms. They wore simple cotton dresses, their hair tied back with white bandannas. They glared at Ichigo.
"You have interfered with matters that don't pertain to you," they said in unison, their voices monotone. Ichigo laughed, and everyone turned to stare at him.
"So what? The Titans are dead, and the Olympians won the war," Ichigo replied casually.
The Fates pointed at Luke and Ethan. "These two are destined to die."
Ichigo immediately stepped forward, grabbing Luke and Ethan and pulling them behind him. "So, you're going to kill them right now?" he challenged.
Everyone stood in stunned silence. Never had anyone openly defied the Fates like this. The three Fates turned their gaze to Ethan and Luke.
"Your mere presence disrupts the balance," they intoned.
Ichigo turned to face them, a calm but defiant expression on his face. "They're wrong," he said. "They're just upset that their little story didn't end exactly how they wanted it to."
"But the balance—" Ethan began.
"Will continue to fluctuate," a voice interrupted. A woman with short, curly black hair and golden eyes stepped forward. She wore a red jacket, black jeans, and boots.
"M-mother," Ethan whispered, rushing forward to hug her. The woman embraced him and then turned to Ichigo.
"I saw what you did to save my son. Thank you," she said.
"No problem," Ichigo replied, then turned back to the Fates. "Leave. None of us wish to see you."
"We will leave, but know this: All bow to Fate," they said before disappearing.
Annabeth's knees finally gave out, and Percy quickly caught her before she fell. She cried out in pain.
"Percy, that's her broken arm!" Thalia shouted.
"Oh gods," Percy muttered. "Annabeth, I'm sorry."
"It's all right," Annabeth murmured as she passed out in his arms.
"She needs help!" Percy yelled.
"I've got this." Apollo stepped forward, his fiery armor so bright that Percy could barely look at him. With matching Ray-Bans and a perfect smile, Apollo looked more like a male model for battle gear than a god of medicine.
"God of medicine, at your service," Apollo said with a grin. He passed his hand over Annabeth's face and spoke an incantation. The bruises faded, her cuts disappeared, and her arm straightened. Annabeth sighed in her sleep. Apollo smiled. "She'll be fine in a few minutes," he said.
The next few hours were a blur. Luke and Ethan allowed themselves to be chained and sat with Hestia by the hearth. The Olympians began repairing Olympus. Those with medical knowledge helped care for the wounded, and once the sky bridge reformed, they greeted their surviving allies.
Nico di Angelo entered Olympus to receive a hero's welcome, with his father right behind him. Hades, though only supposed to visit Olympus during the Winter Solstice, looked stunned when his relatives clapped him on the back. He noticed Ichigo and nodded in recognition, acknowledging their impending private meeting.
Clarisse marched in, still shivering from her time encased in ice. Ares bellowed, "There's my girl!" He ruffled her hair and pounded her on the back, calling her the best warrior he'd ever seen. "That drákōn-slaying? That's what I'm talking about!" Clarisse looked overwhelmed. All she could do was nod and blink, as though afraid he might start hitting her, but eventually, she smiled.
Poseidon and his army marched into Olympus. Many of them nodded at Ichigo, remembering how he had helped save their city. Ichigo noticed a giant in the back with many arms. The giant waved at him with two of them. Ichigo nodded in return.
"Ichigo to Akasha, Gilgamesh, or Medea," Ichigo said through the peerage link.
"About time," Gilgamesh said.
"We just landed in New York City," Akasha added.
"Okay, go to the Empire State Building. If anyone tries to stop you, tell them you're friends with me," Ichigo instructed.
Poseidon looked at Percy. "Well done, my son. And Percy—" His face grew stern, and he wagged a finger at him. "I even forgive you for sitting on my throne. You've saved Olympus!" Poseidon opened his arms and embraced him. From the corner of his eye, Ichigo noticed Akasha, Gilgamesh, and Medea arriving at Mount Olympus. Medea was casting spells to obscure her face.
"POSEIDON!" a voice boomed. Zeus had taken his throne. All the other Olympians, even Hades, were sitting on their respective thrones. Nico sat cross-legged at his father's feet. "Well, Poseidon?" Zeus grumbled. "Are you too proud to join us in council, my brother?"
"I would be honored, Lord Zeus," Poseidon said with a smile, then strode over to his fishing seat as the Olympian Council convened. Ichigo, Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, and Grover volunteered to sit with Luke and Ethan, who were still chained.
Zeus began a long speech about the bravery of the gods, the heroic sacrifices of many demigods during the long battle, and the Greater Good of Olympus. Luke and Ethan both felt guilty when they remembered all the demigods who had died. Ichigo placed a reassuring hand on Ethan's shoulder, while Annabeth did the same for Luke.
"Which leaves us," Zeus said, "with the matter of thanking our young demigod heroes, who defended Olympus so well—even if there are a few dents in my throne."
Thalia was the first to be called forward, likely because she was Artemis's daughter. "You have done well, my lieutenant," Artemis said. "You have made me proud, and all those Hunters who perished in my service will never be forgotten. They will achieve Elysium, I am sure." She shot a pointed look at Hades.
"Probably," Hades shrugged.
Artemis glared at him. "Okay," Hades grumbled. "I'll streamline their application process." Thalia beamed with pride.
"Thank you, my lady," she said, bowing to the gods, including Hades, before limping to stand by Artemis's side.
"Grover Underwood, of the satyrs!" Dionysus called. Grover stepped forward nervously.
"Oh, stop chewing your shirt," Dionysus chided. "Honestly, I'm not going to blast you. For your bravery and sacrifice, blah, blah, blah, and since we have an unfortunate vacancy, the gods have seen fit to name you a member of the Council of Cloven Elders." Grover collapsed on the spot. "Oh, wonderful," Dionysus sighed as several naiads rushed to help Grover. "Well, when he wakes up, someone tell him that he'll no longer be an outcast and that all satyrs, naiads, and other spirits of nature will henceforth treat him as a lord of the Wild, with all rights, privileges, and honors, blah, blah, blah. Now, please, drag him off before he wakes up and starts groveling."
"FOOOOOD," Grover moaned as the nature spirits carried him away.
"Annabeth Chase, my own daughter." Annabeth nervously stood up, walked forward, and knelt at her mother's feet. Athena smiled warmly. "You, my daughter, have exceeded all expectations. You have used your wits, your strength, and your courage to defend this city—and our seat of power. It has come to our attention that Olympus is... well, trashed. The Titan lord did considerable damage, much of which will need to be repaired. We could rebuild it using magic, of course, and restore it to how it was. But the gods feel that the city could be improved. We will take this opportunity to do so. And you, my daughter, will design these improvements." Annabeth looked up, stunned.
"My... my lady?" Athena smiled wryly.
"You are an architect, are you not? You've studied the techniques of Daedalus himself. Who better to redesign Olympus and make it a monument that will last for another eon?"
"You mean… I can design whatever I want?"
"As your heart desires," the goddess said. "Make us a city for the ages."
"As long as you have plenty of statues of me," Apollo added.
"And me," Aphrodite agreed.
"Hey, and me!" Ares said. "Big statues, huge wicked swords, and—"
"All right!" Athena interrupted. "She gets the point. Rise, my daughter, official architect of Olympus." Annabeth rose in a daze and walked back toward me.
"Way to go," I told her, grinning. For once, she was at a loss for words.
"I'll… I'll have to start planning… Drafting paper, and, um, pencils—"
"PERCY JACKSON!" Poseidon's voice rang out. His name echoed through the chamber, and the room fell silent, the side chatter dying down. Everyone's eyes were on him—all the gods, the demigods, the Cyclopes, the spirits. Percy stood up and walked into the center of the throne room. Hestia smiled at him reassuringly. She had taken the form of a girl and seemed content to be sitting by her fire again. First, he bowed to Zeus, then knelt at his father's feet.
"Rise, my son," Poseidon said. Percy stood uneasily.
"A great hero must be rewarded," Poseidon continued. "Is there anyone here who would deny that my son is deserving?" No one protested.
"The Council agrees," Zeus said. "Percy Jackson, you will have one gift from the gods."
"Any gift?" Zeus nodded grimly.
"I know what you will ask. The greatest gift of all. Yes, if you want it, it shall be yours. The gods have not bestowed this gift on a mortal hero in many centuries, but Perseus Jackson—if you wish it—you shall be made a god. Immortal. Undying. You shall serve as your father's lieutenant for all time."
Percy stood there, stunned by Zeus's words.
"Um… a god?" Zeus rolled his eyes.
"A dimwitted god. But yes. With the consensus of the entire Council, I can make you immortal. Then I will have to put up with you forever."
"Hmm," Ares mused. "That means I can smash him to a pulp as often as I want, and he'll just keep coming back for more. I like this idea."
"I approve as well," Athena said, though her gaze lingered on Annabeth.
"No," Percy said. The Council fell silent, the gods exchanging glances, clearly surprised.
"No?" Zeus asked a dangerous edge to his voice. "You are... turning down our generous gift?" There was the unmistakable rumble of thunder, as though a storm was brewing.
"I'm honored and everything," Percy started. "Don't get me wrong. It's just… I've got a lot of life left to live. I'd hate to peak in my sophomore year." The gods were glaring at him, but Annabeth had her hands over her mouth, her eyes shining.
"I do want a gift, though," Percy said. "Do you promise to grant my wish?"
Zeus thought about it for a moment. "If it is within our power."
"It is," Percy said confidently. "And it's not even difficult. But I need your promise on the River Styx."
"What?" Dionysus exclaimed. "You don't trust us?"
"Someone once told me," Percy said, glancing at Hades, "you should always get a solemn oath."
Hades shrugged. "Guilty."
"Very well!" Zeus growled. "In the name of the Council, we swear by the River Styx to grant your reasonable request as long as it is within our power." The other gods muttered their assent. Thunder boomed, shaking the throne room. The deal was sealed.
"From now on, I want you to properly recognize the children of the gods," Percy said. "All the children… of all the gods." The Olympians shifted uncomfortably. "Kronos couldn't have risen if it hadn't been for a lot of demigods who felt abandoned by their parents," Percy continued. "They felt angry, resentful, and unloved—and they had a good reason."
Zeus's royal nostrils flared. "You dare accuse—"
"He's right," Ethan said as he stood up. "I joined Kronos to earn the 'minor' gods their place at Camp Half-Blood, where their children are respected and not seen as outcasts. I fought for the future children of the 'minor' gods so they don't have to suffer what I went through." Percy nodded at Ethan, who sat back down.
"No more undetermined children," Percy continued. "I want you to promise to claim your children—all your demigod children—by the time they turn thirteen. They won't be left out in the world on their own, at the mercy of monsters. I want them claimed and brought to camp so they can be trained properly and survive."
"Now, wait just a moment," Apollo started, but Percy ignored him.
"And the minor gods," Percy added. "Nemesis, Hecate, Morpheus, Janus, Hebe—they all deserve a general amnesty and a place at Camp Half-Blood. Their children shouldn't be ignored. Calypso and the other peaceful Titans should be pardoned too. And Hades—"
"Are you calling me a minor god?" Hades bellowed.
"No, my lord," Percy said quickly. "But your children should not be left out. They should have a cabin at camp. Nico has proven that. No unclaimed demigods will be crammed into the Hermes cabin anymore, wondering who their parents are. They'll have their own cabins for all the gods. And no more pact of the Big Three. That didn't work anyway. You've got to stop trying to get rid of powerful demigods. We're going to train them and accept them instead. All children of the gods will be welcome and treated with respect. That is my wish."
Zeus snorted. "Is that all?"
"Percy," Poseidon said, "you ask much. You presume much."
"I hold you to your oath," Percy said. "All of you." Percy received several steely looks. Strangely, it was Athena who spoke up:
"The boy is correct. We have been unwise to ignore our children. It proved a strategic weakness in this war and almost caused our destruction. Percy Jackson, I have had my doubts about you, but perhaps"—she glanced at Annabeth before speaking as if the words left a sour taste, "perhaps I was mistaken. I move that we accept the boy's plan."
"Humph," Zeus muttered. "Being told what to do by a mere child. But I suppose..."
"All in favor?" Hermes asked. All the gods raised their hands.
"Thanks," Percy said as he sat down.
"Luke Castellan and Ethan Nakamura," Zeus called. Both stood up and walked to the center of the throne room. They bowed to the gods. "Both of you are traitors of Olympus, who fought and killed many of your fellow demigods. How do you plead?"
"We both plead guilty," Luke said. Both Ethan and Luke stood tall, ready to accept their punishment. Ichigo stood up.
"Despite being guilty, I request that the Olympians be lenient with them," Ichigo said. "Both Luke and Ethan betrayed the gods not out of a desire for world domination, but to bring change. They felt the Olympians didn't care for their children. Both lived in the Hermes Cabin, where they experienced this feeling firsthand. They have seen other children suffer the same fate." Ichigo glanced at Percy. "Percy's wish was the change they wanted. With the Olympians sworn to carry out those actions, they're willing to face their crimes with a smile." Ichigo sat back down. Zeus looked at the other Olympians.
"We shall take a brief recess to deliberate," Zeus said. A wall of divine energy surrounded the gods, preventing anyone from seeing or hearing what went on behind it. Luke and Ethan turned to Ichigo.
"Why did you speak up?" Luke asked. Many demigods, curious, looked at Ichigo.
"I did it because it's the truth. Only a few people knew why both of you joined Kronos. Many thought you did it for power. In reality, you joined Kronos to help the unrepresented." The divine barrier began to lower. Everyone quickly returned to their seats.
"After careful deliberation," Zeus began, "We've decided to forgo the normal punishment for traitors." He looked at Luke and Ethan. "Luke Castellan and Ethan Nakamura will be sentenced to ten years at Camp Half-Blood. Both of you will serve as staff members there." Everyone was stunned. Luke and Ethan turned to Ichigo.
"Thank you," they said. Ichigo nodded.
"It's the least I can do," Ichigo replied. Zeus stood.
"Ichigo Kurosaki, please come forward." Ichigo rose and walked to the center of the room. Unlike the others, Ichigo didn't bow to the Olympians, shocking both the minor gods and demigods. Zeus ignored it and continued. "Ichigo Kurosaki, the price for your assistance in defeating Typhon was that each Olympian present at the battle owes you a debt." All the demigods who hadn't seen Ichigo fight Hyperion stared at him in surprise. "So, Ichigo Kurosaki, name your price."
"I wish to receive a part of your authority from each of you who fought at the battle," Ichigo said.
"The Olympians who fought at the battle were Hera, Hermes, Ares, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, and I," Zeus said.
"Please, as if we need your help," Ares scoffed.
"Oh really?" Ichigo said. "I'm pretty sure you were there when Typhon shrugged off Zeus's attacks. Can you do that?" Ares growled and stood up.
"Ares," Zeus warned.
"I've had enough!" Ares yelled. "I challenge you to a one-on-one duel."
"Very well," Ichigo replied. "What do you want?"
"I want that power—the power to defy the Fates," Ares growled.
"Very well then. If I defeat you, I can claim your authority over War," Ichigo said.
"Deal!" Ares recklessly agreed. Zeus sighed as a wave of divine energy formed a clear barrier in front of the demigods, shielding them from the battle. Ares transformed, now 6 feet tall, wearing golden war armor and a helmet. He held a spear in his right hand and a golden shield in his left. Clarisse and her cabin cheered for their father. Ichigo calmly shifted into his Shinigami form, not summoning a weapon. The tension was palpable. Ares's aura of hatred and rage was felt by all, but Ichigo easily resisted it.
"Come at me, dog," Ichigo said.
"Don't underestimate me!" Ares roared, charging toward Ichigo. He thrust his spear quickly and precisely, but Ichigo easily dodged the attacks, sidestepping with ease. Ares's anger grew with every second.
"Stand still, you Jap!" Ares yelled.
Ichigo finally decided to go on the offensive. He lunged at Ares, catching him off guard. Ichigo grabbed the spear and delivered a sidekick to Ares's gut. Ares was forced to release his spear as he was sent flying into the barrier. Ichigo slammed the spear into the ground, embedding it in the marble floor. Ares slowly stood up, fuming.
"I will kill you!" Ares roared, throwing his shield at Ichigo like a discus. The shield caught fire as it soared through the air. Ichigo moved aside, and the shield clanged against the embedded spear.
"Ugh," Ares growled, sending a wave of fire toward Ichigo. Ichigo activated Schrift T: The Taiyō, absorbing the flames and feeling himself grow stronger.
"Is that it?" Ichigo taunted. "To think the God of Battlelust and Rage would be so weak."
"You want to see the rage?" Ares bellowed, his body glowing red. Behind him, his spear and shield also glowed with red energy. "I'll show you the RAGE!" Ares shouted. The energy engulfed him, and when it dissipated, his helmet and armor were gone. His hair and eyes were now on fire, and his body was covered in scars. He stood topless, revealing his muscular, tanned form.
"RAH!" Ares roared, charging at Ichigo with ferocity. He attacked with his full strength, but Ichigo effortlessly blocked the blows, which only enraged Ares further.
The gods watched from their thrones.
"To think he'd force Ares into his Primal form," Aphrodite remarked.
"Primal?" Zeus asked.
"Yes, Lord Zeus," Aphrodite replied. "Ares calls this his Primal State. He absorbs all of his divine energy and channels it into his body, greatly enhancing his physical strength."
"And you named it 'Primal' because…?" Athena asked.
Aphrodite blushed. "Ares realized he couldn't keep up with me in bed, so he created Primal to compete."
"Wouldn't his divine form work just as well?" Athena inquired.
"No," Aphrodite said. "In his divine form, he doesn't have his… big 'tool.'"
Suddenly, the divine barrier shook as something hit it. The gods turned to see Ichigo slammed against the barrier.
"So, this dog can bite back," Ichigo smirked. He vanished his Shihakushō, revealing his own scarred, lightly tanned, muscular body. All eyes were on the large circle scar on his chest. Reiatsu began to gather around Ichigo.
"Shunkō," Ichigo said, his reiatsu exploding around him. The energy spiraled, encircling his body. Ichigo lunged at Ares, moving much faster than the god.
"Grrr," Ares growled as he was forced to take the hits. "RAH!" he yelled, surprising Ichigo with a fiery headbutt. Ichigo was briefly stunned by the impact. "RAH!" Ares shouted again, launching into another series of attacks.
"Taeru Shunkō [Enduring Flash War Cry," Ichigo said. His reiatsu shifted to a light brown hue, coiling around his body like armor. Unaware of the change, Ares continued his reckless assault. Ichigo stood firm, absorbing each of Ares's attacks. The onlookers watched as Primal Ares's strikes grew slower and weaker. Ichigo remained unmoved.
"Is this it, Ares?" Ichigo asked. Primal Ares, exhausted and aching, could do nothing but glare at Ichigo with pure hatred. Ichigo raised his right hand, and the reiatsu around him deepened into a dark brown, almost black.
"Yoshin [Aftershock]!" Ichigo shouted as he struck Ares in the chest. The punch sent Primal Ares hurtling through the temple wall and beyond, flying out of Olympus.
"Um… anyone know how far Ares is flying right now?" Ichigo asked.
"Hm…" Zeus closed his eyes, concentrating. Suddenly, his eyes widened. He turned to the opposite side of the temple. Ares crashed back into the temple and slammed into Zeus, who was in his giant form, in the gut.
"Gha!" Zeus gasped in pain. Primal Ares collapsed to the floor, bloodied and unconscious. A bruise in the shape of Ares's body marked Zeus's stomach.
"Ares!" Aphrodite cried, rushing to his side. Apollo stood up and hurried over, beginning to heal him.
"Wow, that's a lot of damage," Apollo remarked, pulling out a goblet and force-feeding its contents to Ares.
"How bad is it?" Athena asked.
"All his bones are broken, a lot of internal bleeding, and he's completely drained of energy," Apollo reported.
"Damn, what was that?" Ares groaned, struggling to rise.
"That was the unique power of Taeru Shunkō," Ichigo explained. "Taeru Shunkō decreases my speed and agility, but in return, it grants me extreme defense and endurance. It also absorbs all kinetic energy from incoming attacks and releases it all in a single, devastating strike."
"No wonder all my attacks did jack shit," Ares grumbled. Ichigo nodded.
"Anyone else want to test their strength against me?" Ichigo asked. No Olympian volunteered.
"Who wishes to start?" Zeus asked. Apollo helped Ares back to his throne to speed up his recovery and resumed healing him.
"I guess I will," Hephaestus said, pausing his work on a gadget. "I'm the God of Fire, Forge, Volcanoes, Metalwork, and Technology. I doubt you'd want anything from me."
"Hm… too many things to choose from," Ichigo mused.
"Don't lie," Hephaestus said. "Not many would want my blessing."
"I swear I'm not lying," Ichigo admitted.
"He's not lying!" Apollo shouted as he finished healing Ares. He walked over to Zeus and began healing his fractured ribs, internal bleeding, and bruises.
"Each of those authorities helps you do what you do best—creating things," Ichigo said. "I'll go with Technology."
"Why?" Hephaestus asked, curious why a warrior like Ichigo would choose Technology over Fire or Volcanoes.
"Technology is the key to the future. It continues to evolve, even now, beyond our understanding."
"Spoken like one of my kids," Hephaestus said. "I, Hephaestus, the God of Fire, Forge, Volcanoes, Metalwork, and Technology, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over Technology and Metalwork." Hephaestus's energy surged into the schrift that Ichigo summoned. Red and silver light flowed from Hephaestus into the blank schrift, which now bore streaks of red and silver.
"Wait, shared jurisdiction?" Athena questioned.
"I believe he will appreciate the gift," Hephaestus replied.
"Who is next?" Ichigo asked. Hera turned to him.
"I doubt you want anything from me, but I am the Goddess of Motherhood, Marriage, Family, and Women."
"Hm…" Ichigo thought for a moment.
"Ichigo, ask her about Argus," Medea suggested.
"How did you create Argus?" Ichigo asked. Hera cracked a small smile.
"Someone knows their Greek Mythology," Hera remarked. "Argus is a powerful giant that I created."
"Could you bestow me with that ability, to create giants?" Ichigo asked.
"I cannot give you the power to create life," Hera began, "but I can grant you the ability to create golems."
"I'll accept that," Ichigo said, summoning another schrift. "Please cast the blessing to this."
"Very well," Hera said. "I, Hera, the Goddess of Motherhood, Marriage, Family, and Women, grant Ichigo Kurosaki the ability and knowledge to create golems." Light brown energy flowed from Hera into the schrift, joining the red and silver.
"Who is next?" Ichigo asked.
"I'll go," Apollo said. "I'm the God of Light, Music, Poetry, Truth, Prophecy, Plague, Oracles, Knowledge, and Medicine."
"Which of those authorities would be best suited for combat?" Ichigo asked.
"Medicine would be important," Apollo said, "since you can use your energy to create the necessary medicines or enhance healing techniques."
"As for Music?" Ichigo inquired.
"Nothing much beyond a musical aptitude," Apollo admitted.
"Yhwach, do you think you can evolve that authority to be more combative and supportive?" Ichigo asked.
"What do you have in mind?" Yhwach replied.
"Perhaps manipulate soundwaves for offense and defense," Ichigo suggested. Yhwach nodded thoughtfully.
"Anything else?"
"Depending on the song, it could buff allies or debuff enemies."
"That sounds interesting," Yhwach said, "especially with psychological studies showing the effects of music on people."
"I'll take your authority over Music," Ichigo decided.
"Sure," Apollo said. Ichigo held the schrift out toward him. "I, Apollo, the God of Light, Music, Poetry, Truth, Prophecy, Plague, Oracles, Knowledge, and Medicine, grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over Music." Orange-yellow energy flowed from Apollo into the schrift, adding to the light brown, red, and silver streaks already present.
"I'll go next," Artemis said. "I am the Goddess of the Hunt, Archery, Wilderness, Forests, the Moon, Radiance, Maidenhood, and Childbirth."
"I wish to receive a blessing of the Moon," Ichigo quickly answered.
"Why?" Artemis asked.
"Because of my soul," Ichigo replied. "My primary weapon's name is Zangetsu." Artemis's eyes widened as she understood Zangetsu's origin.
"Very well," Artemis said. "I, Artemis, the Goddess of the Hunt, Archery, Wilderness, Forests, the Moon, Radiance, Maidenhood, and Childbirth, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over the Moon." Silver energy flowed from Artemis into the schrift, which absorbed the energy.
"I'll go next," Athena said. "I am the Goddess of Wisdom, Civilization, Mathematics, Strategy, War, City Defense, Crafts, the Arts, and Skill."
"How do you two distinguish between War?" Ichigo asked.
"In many conflicts, Ares was more offense-minded, while I am more defensive," Athena explained.
"I see… then Defensive Warfare and maybe City Defense, if possible."
"As both topics are closely related, I believe it is acceptable to grant you both." Athena agreed. "I, Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, Civilization, Mathematics, Strategy, War, City Defense, Crafts, the Arts, and Skill, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki my blessing for Defensive Warfare and City Defense." Light red and white energy flowed from Athena into the schrift, which absorbed the energy, now streaked with lighter red and white, joining the orange-yellow, light brown, red, and silver.
"I'll go next," Ares said.
"Are you sure? You took a major beating and exhausted all your divine energy," Ichigo remarked.
"I am," Ares said. "You defeated me fair and square." Ares's energy flowed into the schrift. "I, Ares, the God of War, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over War." Crimson energy flowed from Ares into the schrift.
"I guess I'll go next," Dionysus said as he sipped his diet coke. "I'm the Greek God of Grape-Harvest, Wine, Madness, Parties, Religious Ecstasy, and Theater."
"I guess Madness," Ichigo said.
"Sure," Dionysus shrugged. "I, Dionysus, the God of Grape-Harvest, Wine, Madness, Parties, Religious Ecstasy, and Theater, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over Madness." Violet energy flowed from Dionysus into the schrift.
"I'll go next," Aphrodite said.
"Thank you, Aphrodite, but I have something else I want from you," Ichigo said.
"Oh?" Aphrodite responded, giving him a seductive look.
"Nope, not that," Ichigo said, turning around. "Part the sea!" he commanded. The demigods quickly parted as Medea, still covered in her robes, stepped forward. Medea stood beside Ichigo. "Aphrodite, come down here," Ichigo called. Aphrodite shrank down to be slightly taller than Medea, walking over to Ichigo, seductively swaying her hips.
"To pay off your debt, you will become her servant," Ichigo said.
"What?!" Aphrodite shouted in disbelief.
"You will," Medea declared. "To pay off the mind control you placed on me!" Medea pulled off her cloak, revealing herself. All the gods recognized her.
"M-Medea," Aphrodite stammered.
"Yeah, I'm back, bitch!" Medea shouted. She grabbed Aphrodite. "I'm back for revenge for what you did!" Medea began to attack Aphrodite, who struggled against her.
"Um… I'm all for a good catfight, but should we stop them?" Hermes asked.
"I believe this is a suitable punishment for Aphrodite," Hera said, partially feeling guilty for what had happened to Medea.
"What?!" Aphrodite screamed.
"I think this will teach Aphrodite some important lessons," Athena said. Artemis nodded in agreement.
"I am in favor of it," Hephaestus said. Aphrodite looked around, hoping someone would help her.
"I am also in favor of it," Poseidon said. Zeus turned to him.
"So do I," Zeus agreed.
"I'm for it," Hades said, glaring at Aphrodite. Aphrodite turned to Apollo, Hermes, and Dionysus for help.
"I am a-" Apollo started, but suddenly a silver arrow narrowly missed his head. He turned to see Artemis whistling innocently, looking away. "I am for her punishment," Apollo corrected nervously, eyeing Artemis, who cracked a smile.
Aphrodite turned to Hermes and Dionysus.
"Go punish her," Hermes said, glancing at Zeus and Ichigo.
"Sure," Dionysus replied.
"So it has been spoken," Zeus proclaimed. "Until Medea passes away, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty, Love, Desire, Passion, Sexuality, Pleasure, and Fertility, will be Medea's servant." Hephaestus stepped forward.
"I've got just the thing," Hephaestus said, holding up a golden collar. He tossed it toward Aphrodite, and it snapped around her neck.
A golden chain shot from the collar and into Medea's hand. Aphrodite shuddered, feeling weakened. "This golden collar prevents Aphrodite from using any of her powers and shocks her with crimson electricity if she disobeys orders," Hephaestus explained.
"Thank you, Lord Hephaestus," Medea said, bowing to him. She noticed the collar had a blank nameplate. "Your new name is Bitch," Medea proclaimed as the word appeared on the nameplate.
"Thank you, Ichigo and the Olympians," Medea said. She kissed Ichigo on the cheek and walked away. Bitch followed behind her.
Medea stopped and turned to Bitch. "Crawl on all fours, Bitch," Medea ordered. Bitch hesitated, but when the crimson electricity jolted through her, she screamed in pain.
"AHHHHHHAHHHH!" she cried.
"Get on your knees, Bitch!" Medea ordered. Bitch complied. The electricity stopped, and Medea walked away with Bitch trailing behind her. The demigods stared at the two as they left.
"Ichigo, we'll find a hotel room to use as our base," Akasha said.
"Very well," Ichigo replied. Akasha and Gilgamesh followed Medea out of the temple.
"I'll go next," Hermes said, gaining everyone's attention again. "I am the God of Roads, Travel, Loads, Gymnasiums, Athletes, Diplomacy, Orators, Thieves, Commerce, Trade, and Invention. For keeping your promise to me about Luke, you can choose two authorities to share with me."
"Two authorities!?" Zeus exclaimed. Hermes turned to Zeus.
"Is there a problem, Lord Zeus?" he asked. Zeus remained silent.
"I choose Travel and Thieves," Ichigo said.
"Very well," Hermes said. "I, Hermes, the God of Roads, Travel, Loads, Gymnasiums, Athletes, Diplomacy, Orators, Thieves, Commerce, Trade, and Invention, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over Travel and Thieves." Gray energy flowed from Hermes into the schrift.
"I'll go," Poseidon said.
"Wait, brother," Zeus interjected. "You weren't part of the deal." Poseidon nodded.
"Indeed, I wasn't," Poseidon replied. "However, I swore an oath to him to save Atlantis from Oceanus. Though I am not bound by your oath, I am bound by my own debt." Poseidon turned to Ichigo. "I am Poseidon, God of the Sea, Storms, Earthquakes, Droughts, Floods, and Horses. For your actions in saving Atlantis, you may choose any two of my authorities to share with me," Poseidon offered. All the other gods exchanged incredulous looks as if Poseidon had lost his mind.
"Two authorities!?" Zeus yelled.
"Hm…" Ichigo pondered.
"I choose the Sea and Earthquake," Ichigo decided.
"Very well," Poseidon said. "I, Poseidon, God of the Sea, Storms, Earthquakes, Droughts, Floods, and Horses, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over the Sea and Earthquakes." Sea green energy flowed from Poseidon into the schrift. Ichigo turned to Zeus.
"I am Zeus, God of the Sky, Thunder, Lightning, Kingship, Honor, and Justice," Zeus began. "Which two authorities would you like to share with me?"
"I choose Sky and Lightning," Ichigo said.
"Very well," Zeus replied. "I, Zeus, God of the Sky, Thunder, Lightning, Kingship, Honor, and Justice, shall grant Ichigo Kurosaki shared jurisdiction over the Sky and Lightning." Golden energy flowed from Zeus into the schrift. The schrift was now covered in streaks of different colors, each representing the gift of the Olympians. Ichigo sent the schrift to Yhwach.
"With that, the ceremony is over," Zeus said. Suddenly, wood nymphs appeared out of nowhere, carrying food and drinks for everyone. The gods began to enjoy themselves. Ichigo noticed that Hades was preparing to leave.
"I guess it's time for our meeting?" Ichigo asked. Hades cracked a small smile.
"Sure," Hades replied. He turned to Nico. "Have fun with your friends," Hades said.
"Yes, Father," Nico answered. Hades wrapped Ichigo in his shadows, and they teleported away.
Scene Change: Greek Underworld
Ichigo and Hades appeared in a throne room of sorts.
"Hades, who is this?" Persephone asked. "Is that another stepson?"
"No, dear," Hades said. "He is someone I have business with." Persephone glared at Hades.
"May I join you two for this personal business?" she asked. Hades turned to Ichigo.
"Sure," Ichigo said. "But please keep what you find out a secret from the Olympians."
"Very well," Persephone agreed.
"Give me a few moments," Hades said as he began gathering a few items and called for Charon and Thanatos.
"This palace is beautiful despite the eerie atmosphere," Ichigo remarked.
"Indeed," Persephone agreed.
"Ichigo, what are you doing here?" Ichigo turned to see Franceska and Mila Rose just walking in.
"Hello, ladies," Ichigo greeted.
"It seems you two are done taking care of Cerberus," Persephone said.
"Yes, Lady Persephone," they replied.
"Is there a problem with Cerberus?" Ichigo asked.
"Yes, our Cerberus feels very lonely," Persephone explained. "Mila Rose and Franceska are two of the few strong enough to handle playing with Cerberus."
"What if I told you I have a more permanent solution to your problem?" Ichigo offered.
"How?" they asked in unison. Ichigo smiled just as Hades reappeared.
"Ah, Franceska and Mila Rose," Hades said.
"Lord Hades," Franceska said, bowing. Mila Rose quickly followed.
"I told Ichigo about our problem with Cerberus," Persephone began. "He says he has a permanent solution."
"Hm… we'll see about that after our meeting," Hades replied. "Now then, Ichigo, follow me." Hades and Ichigo walked down a set of hallways, soon arriving in a bedroom with three beds. The headboards were decorated with glowing Greek and Roman writings.
"Hades, what's going on?" Ichigo asked.
"To expedite the meeting process, we will meet through the mind," Hades explained. "This will allow both our Greek and Roman selves to attend the meeting without the headache of physical presence."
"I see…"
"It also helps since Charon, Thanatos, and Mors can't physically meet us in my palace," Hades added.
"So, we simply lay down and let the magic do its job?" Ichigo asked.
"Exactly." Everyone lay down on the beds, and the Greek and Roman writings glowed.
Scene Change: Void
Ichigo opened his eyes to find himself sitting at a round table. To his right were Hades and Persephone. To his left was a very pale man with greasy black hair, dressed in a dark suit with a black and platinum striped tie, and a tombstone gray shirt. Beside him sat a beautiful woman with long, dark hair that floated and curled down. Her eyes were multicolored but washed out, and she wore a dress that billowed around her like smoke (1).
"I am Pluto, and this is my wife, Proserpine," Pluto said.
Next to Persephone was a man with dark skin, lean and muscular, with honey-gold eyes and black hair. He was bare-chested, with only a piece of black robe covering his waist.
"I am Thanatos," he said.
Beside him was a woman with similar skin, eyes, and hair. She was dressed in black robes that covered most of her body.
"I am Mors, Thanatos's Roman counterpart (2)," she introduced herself.
The last person at the table was a man with chocolate-colored skin and bleach-blonde hair, shaved military-style. He wore tortoise-shell shades and an Italian suit that matched his hair color. A black rose was pinned to his lapel.
"The name's Charon," he said.
"For those who don't know me, I am Ichigo Kurosaki, the current Emperor of Hell," Ichigo introduced himself, summoning the Jigoku no Yoroi. "We are here to renew the old contract that the previous Emperor of Hell had with you," he explained.
"Indeed," Hades and Pluto said in unison.
"For us, all the souls in the Fields of Punishment will be sent to Hell," Hades added.
"The previous Emperor of Hell didn't have a way for the sinners to pay for their sins. Do you have a method to take care of this?" Pluto asked.
"I've established a gateway that judges the Sinners and determines if they have paid for their sins," Ichigo said.
"Very well," Hades and Pluto responded.
"May I join this meeting?" a voice asked. They turned to see someone slowly rising from the shadows.
He stood at eight feet tall, with muscular purple skin, and was dressed in armor adorned with all kinds of creatures. His face was obscured by darkness, only his red gleaming eyes shining through. "I am Tartarus," he said. All the gods stood up in shock. Tartarus chuckled. "Don't worry, my grandchildren… I am not here to fight."
"Hm… What can I do for you?" Ichigo asked as the other gods sat back down.
"I think it's time the monsters are reminded of my rules," Tartarus said.
"Rules?" the gods asked in unison.
"Indeed," Tartarus continued. "Those foolish Fates designed the monsters to attack mortals, giving demigods a sense of importance. But with the end of the Age of Gods, the Fates haven't adjusted the monsters' fate. So, I am forced to step in." Tartarus' voice grew firm. "I have decreed that all monsters residing in my domain are only supposed to attack demigods, their close family members, or if they are attacked first. They are not to attack mortals who aren't aware of us."
"I assumed many monsters disregarded that rule," Ichigo said.
"As soon as I fell asleep, the monsters ignored my rule," Tartarus grumbled.
"So, those monsters that break the rule will be sent to me," Ichigo concluded.
"Indeed," Tartarus said. "But there's someone else I want removed from my realm."
"Who?" Ichigo asked.
"Peres, the Titan of Destruction," Tartarus said. "He established a colosseum in my domain, and he has managed to prevent the inhabitants from feeling pain from my realm. His minions capture monsters, imprison them in his colosseum, and the monsters submit to him in exchange for protection and comfort."
Ichigo nodded. "I want his colosseum gone."
"What do I get if I do this for you?" Ichigo asked.
Tartarus chuckled. "I will grant you a reward upon completion."
"How will I know you'll keep your end of the bargain?" Ichigo asked.
"Ha… I like you, kid," Tartarus said. "I swear upon the void that created me to pay Ichigo Kurosaki back for helping me." A loud rumble echoed through the ground.
"Very well," Ichigo said, summoning a piece of paper. "Do you have any idea where his colosseum is located?"
"It's somewhere in the Central Wasteland," Tartarus replied.
"After this meeting, I will go there," Ichigo said. Tartarus nodded.
"When you're finished, yell out my name," Tartarus instructed.
"Very well."
"It's fine if you end up permanently killing Peres," Tartarus added before disappearing.
Ichigo turned to the remaining gods and goddesses. "Do you know about the Death Quest?" he asked. Everyone except for Persephone and Proserpine nodded.
"What's the Death Quest?" Persephone asked.
"I'm sorry, my dear," Hades said.
"But it's something only the Gods and Goddesses of Death are allowed to know," Pluto explained. Persephone and Proserpine sighed.
"Fine," they accepted.
"In exchange for our blessing," Hades said.
"We need you to help us with something," Pluto added.
"What is it?" Ichigo asked.
"I am supposed to only accept the souls of Greek demigods, Roman demigods, or their descendants, but recently we've been receiving all kinds of souls—mortals, wizards, witches, and more," Pluto said.
"Grim is supposed to escort these miscellaneous souls to their correct place," Hades said.
"Grim?" Ichigo asked, confused.
"Yes, Grim is the closest being associated with the concept of Death. He's not part of any pantheon. His job is to collect the souls of the dead and deliver them to the appropriate pantheon. If the soul doesn't belong to a pantheon, he drops it into the Reincarnation Cycle," Hades explained.
"But he stopped doing his job?" Ichigo surmised.
"Indeed. We don't know why he stopped," Hades confirmed.
"I managed to find his last known location: a city called Endsville, in Arizona (3)," Pluto said.
"I see…" Ichigo murmured.
"Anyways, when you find Grim and kick his ass back to work, come find us," Hades instructed.
"Hm… Where's the entrance to the Underworld?" Ichigo asked.
"The main entrance is located in Los Angeles, California. The mortal front is called DOA Recording Studios," Pluto said.
"What does DOA stand for? Dead or Alive?" Ichigo joked.
"No. It's Dead-On-Arrival," Hades corrected.
"That's usually where I am," Charon added with a smile. Ichigo nodded.
"Is there anything else?" Ichigo asked. The remaining gods and goddesses shook their heads. With that, everyone left the Void.
Scene Change: Underworld
Ichigo opened his eyes to see Hades and Persephone waking up.
"With that meeting done, let's go see your solution for Cerberus," Hades said. Hades, Persephone, and Ichigo walked out of the palace to find a black coach with a pair of shadowy horses. The coach doors opened for them to enter.
"To Cerberus!" Hades commanded. The coach began to move. Ichigo looked out to see long lines of souls waiting to be judged.
"I see…" Ichigo said, watching the scene.
They soon arrived at a three-headed rottweiler lying down. Its red eyes screamed sadness and loneliness. Upon seeing the coach, Cerberus stood up and let out an excited bark. Hades, Persephone, and Ichigo stepped out of the coach.
"Hello, Cerberus," Hades greeted. Cerberus let out an excited bark. Hades turned to Ichigo. "I would like to see that permanent solution," he said.
"Can I open a portal?" Ichigo asked.
"Go ahead," Hades said.
Ichigo ripped open a red Garganta and jumped in.
Ichigo appeared in the second layer of Hell, where he noticed a few sinners playing with his Cerberus. The sinners noticed Ichigo's presence and tried to flee. Ichigo shunpō'd in front of them.
"Thank you for taking care of Cerberus. Good luck with your second chance at life," Ichigo said as he cut their chains and sent them to the Reincarnation Cycle. Ichigo turned to his Cerberus.
"Come here, boy. I have a friend for you," Ichigo called. Cerberus let out a loud bark and followed Ichigo. Together, they entered the red Garganta.
Ichigo returned to the Greek Underworld, his Cerberus trailing closely behind. Hades and Persephone's eyes widened.
"You're giving your Cerberus to us?" Hades asked.
"It's not my Cerberus. I found him," Ichigo admitted. The two dogs sniffed each other before they began playing together.
"Thank you for that," Hades said.
"No problem," Ichigo replied. "How do I get to Tartarus?"
"You're planning to go there now?" Hades asked.
"No, maybe tomorrow," Ichigo said.
"Just send us an Iris message," Hades instructed.
"Do you have a phone number?" Ichigo asked. Hades smiled and handed him his number.
"Thank you. Could you get me back to New York City?" Ichigo asked.
Hades nodded. Ichigo felt the shadows surround him and was instantly teleported away.
Scene Change: New York City
Ichigo appeared out of a shadow in an empty alleyway. He walked through the rubble, noticing Obliviators from the MACUSA running around, trying to cover up the battle.
"Remind me to send Hecate a bottle of whiskey after this," one Obliviator said.
"Agreed," another Obliviator replied. "Her Mist made it look like one of the old steam pipes exploded (4)."
"Yeah, we just need to adjust the destruction to match that," one of the Obliviators noted, spotting Ichigo walking through the area.
"Um, sir?" an Obliviator approached Ichigo, ready to Obliviate him.
"I was at the battle with the Greek Gods," Ichigo explained.
"Oh, sorry about that," the Obliviator said, returning to his work. A few minutes later, with Akasha's help, Ichigo found their hotel. He nodded to the receptionist and used the elevator to reach the top floor. Ichigo could sense the magical barriers Medea and Gilgamesh had set up. He walked to the door, and before he could knock, Akasha opened it. Inside, Medea was using Bitch as a chair, while Gilgamesh was watching television. Ichigo noticed the news channels were blaming the destruction on a pipeline explosion.
"I'm going to bed early," Ichigo said.
"Want me to give you a massage?" Akasha asked.
"Sure," Ichigo said. Gilgamesh waved his hand, and a bottle appeared next to Akasha.
"Use this. It helps reduce soreness, allows the body to relax, and makes it easier to fall asleep," Gilgamesh explained.
"Thank you," Ichigo said. They walked to their bedroom. With a flick of his hand, one of the chairs transformed into a massage bed. Ichigo stripped down and laid face down. Akasha began applying the ointment to his back. Ichigo allowed himself to relax and fall asleep.
Scene Change: Morning
Ichigo woke up to find himself in his bed, with Akasha and Gilgamesh cuddling on either side of him. Kyōka appeared.
"Yhwach wants to see you in the Trainer," she said.
"Very well," Ichigo replied. He entered his spirit form, leaving his soulless body behind. Kyōka sent him to the Trainer.
Ichigo opened his eyes to see Yhwach. The bags under Yhwach's eyes were noticeable.
"You okay, Yhwach?" Ichigo asked.
"I am, and I am not," Yhwach replied.
"Why?" Ichigo asked.
"I just finished converting the gathered divinity and authorities into new Schrifts," Yhwach said. "Some of the divinity and authorities merged with older Schrifts, while others combined into one powerful Schrift."
"I see…" Ichigo said.
"Schrift A: The Aqua Dominum absorbed part of Oceanus's authority, Poseidon's Sea authority, and Artemis's Moon blessing. This gives you full control over water, its alternative forms, and any item containing water. It also allows you to transform into water or anything with water. You can create, use, and store water-based divine energy, and your power increases depending on the phase of the Moon."
"I see…" Ichigo said, processing the information.
"Due to this change, I suggested to Yhwach that we should rename the Schrift," Kyōka said.
"To what?" Ichigo asked.
"Maybe Fengári Neró (Water Moon)," Kyōka suggested.
"Sure," Ichigo agreed. He saw a light shining from the tower of Schrifts. A beam shot out, likely belonging to Schrift A, and moved to another location.
"The change has been made," Yhwach said. "Schrift A: The Aqua Dominum is no more. It is now Schrift F: Fengári Neró (Water Moon)."
"I see…" Ichigo nodded.
Yhwach pointed at Schrift G. "The next Schrift to receive an upgrade is Schrift G: The Gaia Crusher. It merged with Poseidon's Earthquake authority and Hephaestus's Metalwork blessing. You can now easily cause earthquakes and manipulate metals. Like before, it creates, uses, and stores earth-based divine energy."
"I also suggested we rename the Schrift," Kyōka said.
"To what?" Ichigo asked.
"Simply, 'The Earth,'" Kyōka proposed.
"Sure," Ichigo agreed. He watched as another light shone from the tower of Schrifts, moving as Schrift G's light shifted to a new location.
"The change has been made," Yhwach announced. "Schrift G: The Gaia Crusher is no more. It is now Schrift E: The Earth."
Yhwach pointed at Schrift T. "Schrift T: The Taiyō also received an upgrade from Hyperion and Krios. You now have absolute control over fire and light, and the amount of power you gain from the sun has tripled. You can also see anything that the sun shines upon."
Yhwach pointed at Schrift V. "Schrift V: The Ventus received an upgrade from Zeus's Sky Authority. You can now create stronger winds and clouds."
"Before we continue, your elemental Schrifts have gained a unique ability due to Hera's golem blessing," Yhwach added.
"Oh?" Ichigo asked.
"Yes, you can create golems using the energy from those Schrifts and the elements around you," Yhwach explained.
"I see," Ichigo said. With a wave of his hand, the ground began to shake as golems made of stone rose from the earth. A large gust of wind flew toward him before forming into a humanoid shape. A blast of fire shot from Ichigo's hand, beginning to form another humanoid figure. The water vapor in the atmosphere condensed and shaped itself into a human form. In front of Ichigo stood twenty golems—five based on each of the four elements.
With a flick of his wrist, the twenty golems merged into five, each containing all four elements.
"I see…" Ichigo said as the golems disintegrated.
"The last Schrift to gain an upgrade is W: The War Lord," Yhwach explained. "Upon activation, you are no longer affected by magic, including spells, Magecraft, and Kido. Only a bladed weapon can harm you. You can also bless your allies with a dramatic boost in their physical abilities, but it may turn them into mindless berserkers who only obey your orders."
"Can this blessing be applied to the golems?" Ichigo asked.
"Hm… Not sure. But I believe it would work on them," Yhwach replied.
"Wow. Didn't expect them to get that much of a power boost," Ichigo said.
"Now, we have the new Schrifts to discuss," Yhwach said, presenting the first of the new Schrifts. "This one comes from Kronos. It allows you to freeze time, slow it down, speed it up, and even manipulate the age of a target." Ichigo took the Schrift from Yhwach.
"I, Kurosaki Ichigo, bestow upon myself this Schrift," Ichigo said, pushing the Schrift inside himself. A seven-foot-long scythe appeared in his hand. The scythe was a combination of a regular scythe and a clock. The blade was curved like a crescent moon, the handle was silver and wrapped in black leather, and between the blade and the tang was a clock with Greek numbers on the right side and Roman numbers on the left. Ichigo noticed a halberd attached to the other side of the scythe. He spun the scythe around.
"How do you use the halberd part?" Ichigo thought. The scythe responded to his question. The scythe blade shifted, aligning with the handle as if it were one piece. Ichigo swung the halberd around. Despite the weight of both the scythe and halberd configurations, Ichigo could easily hold it in one hand. He pointed it at a rock and used his time powers to age it. The rock glowed sickly yellow as it began to erode. Ichigo stopped when the rock turned to sand.
"I name this Schrift: Schrift C, The Chrónou Árchonta (Master of Time)," Ichigo said. Yhwach nodded.
Ichigo vanished the scythe-halberd and looked at Yhwach.
"The next Schrift was created using Apollo's Music Authority and Dionysus's Madness Authority," Yhwach explained, pulling out another Schrift. "This one allows you to play music that can motivate allies, heal their wounds, and restore their energy. Alternatively, a different song can demoralize enemies, cause unknown terror, prevent their wounds from healing, drain their energy, cause madness, and spread hopelessness and despair."
"I, Kurosaki Ichigo, bestow upon myself this Schrift," Ichigo said, pushing the Schrift inside himself. Ichigo summoned his old guitar from his mindscape and struck a few chords. A large sound wave shot from the guitar. Ichigo and Yhwach watched as the sound wave rippled through the air. Suddenly, they heard a loud crack. Ichigo looked down to see his guitar split in two.
"Looks like we need to invest in a stronger guitar," Ichigo said.
"You could forge it yourself or ask Hephaestus for help," Yhwach suggested.
"Maybe," Ichigo replied. "I name this Schrift: Schrift Y, The Yokubō no Uta (Song of Desire)."
"No Greek name?" Yhwach remarked.
"No," Ichigo said.
"This next Schrift is the last one for now. It will be one of the strongest Schrifts in your possession," Yhwach said as he handed Ichigo the final prepared Schrift. "This Schrift contains all of Typhon's authority, Zeus's Sky and Lightning Authority, and the remaining authorities of Poseidon and Oceanus."
"All of them are in this Schrift?" Ichigo asked.
"Indeed. All storms, hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes, typhoons, and lightning storms are yours to command. The storms summoned by this Schrift will be far beyond anything Poseidon and Zeus could produce due to the many different authorities at play," Yhwach said. Ichigo took a deep breath.
"I, Kurosaki Ichigo, bestow upon myself this Schrift," Ichigo said, pushing the Schrift inside him. A large gust of wind blew around him. Ichigo could feel the immense power and divine authority it granted him. It took a few moments for him to calm down. "That was a rush of energy," Ichigo said.
"Indeed," Yhwach agreed.
"What about Technology, Travel, and Thieves?" Ichigo asked.
"Those are stored here for now," Yhwach said, producing another Schrift. "I'm storing them until we find a suitable Schrift for them."
"I see…" Ichigo said. "Yhwach, is it possible for us to combine Schrift E: The Eliminator and Schrift L: The Law into one Schrift?"
"Hm… What would this hypothetical Schrift do?" Yhwach asked.
"It would allow us to create an imitation of something, like the source of power, similar to what you did with Schrift E and Schrift L," Ichigo explained.
"Hm… I will work on that," Yhwach said. Ichigo activated Schrift P: The Puppeteer once again, practicing with the reiatsu strings. He accidentally discovered that the strings could also be used as a weapon. Suddenly, hands appeared out of nowhere, covering his eyes.
"Guess who?" a voice asked.
"Hm…" Ichigo mumbled. "Only one person would do this kind of thing—Akasha," Ichigo said. The hands moved away, revealing Akasha.
"So, what are you doing?" she asked.
"Just practicing a new weapon," Ichigo replied, revealing the reiatsu strings. He demonstrated by using them to cut a rock. The cuts were sloppy, requiring a lot of force to make, but the potential was there.
"Hm… I think I've got the perfect teacher for this," Akasha said, closing her eyes. Behind her, a red shadow began to form. An older man walked out of the shadow. He was slightly taller than Ichigo, dressed in a white dress shirt, black dress pants, and a matching purple tie and vest. His black gloves were a sharp contrast to his long gray hair, which was tied in a ponytail. His red, lifeless eyes were complemented by a monocle resting on his nose.
"His name is Walter C. Dornez. He's from the same alternate universe as my Noble Phantasm," Akasha explained. She turned to Walter. "Teach him how to use your microfilament wires and puppetry abilities," she ordered.
"Yes, Master," Walter replied in a monotone voice.
Over the next few hours, Ichigo followed Walter's teachings, learning to control more strings at once and becoming more proficient with his technique. Yhwach later appeared and helped Ichigo refine his control, drawing from his practice with Ransōtengai. Ichigo's strings became longer, thinner, more durable, and sharper. Ichigo accidentally discovered that he could channel his elemental reiatsu and divine energy into the strings, enhancing them with the elements. By the end of the training, Ichigo could use a single string to control an entire person. With Walter's task complete, Akasha reabsorbed him. Ichigo and Akasha left the Trainer.
Scene Change: Hotel Room
Ichigo and Akasha emerged from the Trainer. Medea was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. Bitch was sitting on the floor next to a dog bowl filled with food. She glared at them with pure hatred. Ichigo and Akasha ignored her as they sat down. Gilgamesh finally made her way downstairs. Bitch glared at Gilgamesh as well, but unlike Ichigo and Akasha, Gilgamesh didn't ignore the stare. She responded with a glare of her own—an annoyed goddess glaring at a worm for daring to be in her presence. Bitch quickly looked away in fear. With her pet cowed, Gilgamesh happily walked to the breakfast table. Medea finished preparing the food and brought it over to them.
"So, what are you planning to do now?" Ichigo asked.
"Hm… I planned to spend some time training Bitch, since she's still too disobedient," Medea replied. "What about you, Master?"
"Oh, I'm planning to go to Tartarus," Ichigo casually stated.
"What!?" Medea exclaimed.
"What's Tartarus?" Akasha asked, confused.
"It's like the Greco-Roman equivalent of Hell," Ichigo answered.
"Why are you going there?" Gilgamesh asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Tartarus, the being, asked me to help him deal with one of his residents," Ichigo explained.
"Who?" Akasha inquired.
"Peres, the Titan of Destruction," Ichigo said.
"I see…" Medea nodded.
"How long will you be down there?" Akasha asked.
"I'm not sure, maybe a few days," Ichigo replied.
"Might be worth asking Zealot for some ideas on how to break her," Medea suggested.
"You want me to drop you off at home before I go?" Ichigo asked.
"Sure," Medea agreed as she finished her meal. The group stood up.
"Bitch, follow us," Ichigo commanded. Bitch reluctantly followed behind them. Medea cast an illusion, making Bitch appear as an ordinary dog. They arrived at the basement level of the hotel, and Ichigo summoned his car.
"Ichigo, open the trunk, please," Medea requested.
Ichigo sighed but complied, opening the trunk. Medea fixed her gaze on Bitch.
"Get in," she ordered.
"No!" Bitch refused.
She was shocked by the collar again. "GAAAAAHHHHH!" Bitch screamed in pain. The electricity ceased after a few moments, and Bitch slowly crawled into the trunk. Medea shut the trunk with a satisfied expression.
"Stay quiet the entire ride," Medea commanded.
"Y-yes, Mistress," Bitch answered.
Medea slammed the trunk closed, and Ichigo drove into a Garganta and dropped Medea and Bitch at the estate before returning to his hotel room.
"Ichigo," Akasha said as they sat in silence. "Are you sure you can do this alone?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
"I'm sure," Ichigo reassured her.
"If you say so," Akasha said with a sigh.
"When you return from Tartarus, what are you planning to do?" Gilgamesh asked.
"Maybe a road trip across America?" Ichigo suggested. "I have to visit a city called Endsville, Arizona, and Los Angeles, California. Might as well see other interesting parts of the country while I'm at it," he added.
"Very well," Akasha said. Gilgamesh nodded in agreement. Ichigo pulled out his phone and dialed Hades's number.
"Hello?" Hades answered.
"Hello, Hades. I'm ready to go to Tartarus," Ichigo said.
"Very well," Hades replied. Ichigo could feel the shadows rise and engulf him.
Ichigo found himself back in the Underworld, standing before an open abyss. Hades stood nearby.
"The entrance to Tartarus is through this abyss," Hades explained.
"I see…" Ichigo said as he approached the abyss.
"Before you go, be warned that time flows differently in Tartarus. Days might pass there when only minutes have gone by here," Hades warned.
"Thanks for the heads-up," Ichigo said, shifting into his Shinigami form. "See you soon." Ichigo waved to Hades and then leaped into the abyss.
Author's notes:
According to the wiki, that is an alternative form for Persephone. I used that to describe Proserpine since she doesn't have a physical description.
According to the Riordan Wiki, Thanatos's Roman form could be Letus or Mors. In Chapter 16, I used Mors so I have to stick with the name. Many sources say that Mors is female.
Endsville is located in the US, is about 200 to 300 miles from Mexico, and has a Nuclear Power Plant. I chose Arizona since it is located in the US, it's next to Mexico, and has a Nuclear Power Plant.
This is referring to the New York City steam explosion in 2007.
