Chapter 57:
Ichigo drove out of the Garganta and arrived at a beach shore. They all stepped out, and Briares was there waiting for them.
"Hello Briares," Ichigo greeted.
"Hello Lord Kurosaki," he replied.
"Please don't call me that," Ichigo said.
"But I must," Briares insisted. Ichigo sighed as they walked past the various forges, where cyclopes worked diligently, pounding different metals. They soon arrived at a weapon range, where Cottus and Gyges were waiting for them. In their arms, they held six weapons, each covered in cloth of different colors to signify which weapon belonged to which Schrift.
"Welcome to the weapon range, Lord Kurosaki," Cottus said.
"This is where you'll bond with your weapons and test them out," Gyges added.
"How do we start?" Ichigo asked.
"We'll begin with the weapons that spoke to us first," Cottus said.
He presented a weapon wrapped in navy blue cloth. Ichigo lifted the cloth, revealing the first weapon. It was a large axe, about five feet tall, with a hammer on the opposite side. The handle was made of wood with a leather grip. Ichigo picked up the ax. Despite its size, it was as light as a feather. He activated Schrift K: The Kataigída. Divine energy flowed from Ichigo to the ax, and lightning began to spark around the blade.
"I summon thee; Wrath of the Heavens, Bringer of Storms, Rage of the Earth; Stormbreaker!" Ichigo chanted. He could feel Stormbreaker and Schrift K: The Kataigída merge. Ichigo deactivated Schrift K: The Kataigída, but he could still feel the connection between them. He sent Stormbreaker to his mindscape and looked at Cottus, who lowered the next weapon.
It was wrapped in black cloth. Ichigo lifted the cloth to reveal a black and gray mantle, with black gemstones connecting the middle. Ichigo put the mantle on. Despite its simple design, he could feel the immense power within. He activated Schrift U: The Umbra. Divine energy flowed into the mantle.
"Engulf the light and plunge the world in darkness, Nightshroud," Ichigo chanted. As before, he felt the Schrift combine with Nightshroud. He took it off and sent it to his mindscape. Cottus lowered the final weapon.
It was wrapped in white cloth. Ichigo lifted the cloth to reveal a bow—metallic white and green. From Ichigo's angle, it resembled a bird soaring through the air. He noticed the bow didn't have a drawstring. Ichigo picked it up and activated Schrift V: The Ventus. The energy from the Schrift fused with the bow.
"Let the sky become your hunting ground, Sky Chaser!" Ichigo declared, solidifying the connection. A drawstring made of divine reiatsu appeared, connecting the ends of the bow.
"This bow is unique," Cottus explained. "It condenses your energy into an arrow that you fire."
"Oh?" Ichigo replied. "I need to try this out."
"We are in the weapon range for a reason," Cottus commented, snapping his fingers. A target appeared out of nowhere. Ichigo aimed the bow at the target and pulled the drawstring back, using a spark of regular reiatsu. A black arrow formed and, with a release of the string, hit the target in the blink of an eye.
"I already have a few ideas for this," Ichigo thought as he sent Sky Chaser to his mindscape. Cottus stepped back as Gyges stepped forward.
"Here's the next one," Gyges said, presenting a weapon wrapped in silver cloth. "Be warned, we aren't sure if this works as intended."
Ichigo removed the cloth, revealing a giant khyber knife with black and silver piano keys along the center of the blade. The pommel was shaped like a small speaker. He picked it up and activated Schrift Y: Yokubō no Uta. He could feel the Schrift and the electric piano merge.
"May my hymns reignite my allies' will. Let my enemies hear their impending demise, Revelation," Ichigo chanted. The electric piano glowed with power.
He placed it near his chest, and suddenly, black ribbons shot out, attaching themselves to Ichigo. He pointed the piano toward the weapon range and pressed a few keys. A deep, melancholic melody shot out of the pommel, and Ichigo could feel sadness and depression radiating from the music. The sound waves tore apart the target.
Ichigo looked at the keys and noticed a few buttons above them. One button showed a picture of a guitar. He pressed it, and to his surprise, the khyber knife transformed into a guitar. The color scheme remained, but the piano keys vanished, replaced by guitar transformation buttons. The pommel, along with the handle, now had guitar strings. Ichigo began playing the guitar. Dramatic music shot out of the pommel, and Ichigo felt empowered by the music. The sound vibrations once again shattered the target.
Ichigo took off the guitar, and the ribbons disappeared. Holding it like a sword, he practiced some swings. He focused his reiatsu into the sword, performing a Getsuga Tenshō-like move. He swung down, releasing an ear-piercing sound wave toward the target.
"Looks like all the functions worked," Gyges remarked.
"Indeed," Ichigo replied, sending Revelation back to his mindscape. He turned to Gyges, who lowered the next weapon.
It was wrapped in a brown cloak. Ichigo removed it, revealing a large lance with a drill at its tip. There was a circular grip at the base of the lance and another handle at the rear, allowing Ichigo to wield it either one-handed or two-handed. The lance was longer than Ichigo's height, and when he picked it up, he was surprised to find it weightless, just like Stormbreaker. Ichigo began to merge the lance with Schrift E: The Earth.
"Test the resolve of others with my resolve, Terra Firma," Ichigo said. The lance glowed as the two merged.
"As you can see, this is no ordinary lance," Gyges explained. "You can activate the drill portion." Ichigo aimed the lance at the weapon range, and the drill began spinning at an incredible speed.
"You can also switch to shield mode, where the drill spins out into a protective shield," Gyges added. Ichigo watched as the drill stopped spinning and split into four pieces. The lance began to spin again, forming a circular shield.
"The final feature is cannon mode," Gyges said. The lance stopped spinning, and all four drill segments separated by a few inches. Energy began to form between the gaps, and a powerful wind tunnel shot forward, trapping the target.
"Fire," Ichigo commanded. A massive beam of energy shot out of the lance, incinerating the target. The drill segments stopped spinning and reconnected. Gyges nodded.
"Looks like all the functions of the lance are operational," Gyges remarked. He sent Terra Firma back to his mindscape.
"Here's the final weapon," Gyges said as he handed it to Briares.
"The weapons we've shown you are unlike anything seen before," Cottus began.
"However, this weapon closely resembles another Weapon of Power," Gyges continued.
"Despite the resemblance, your powers chose this form," Briares said as he presented the final weapon to Ichigo. It was wrapped in a blue cloak. Ichigo uncovered it to reveal a weapon that resembled a cross between a trident, a bishamon-yari (a Japanese spear), and a ji (a Chinese halberd), with a crystalline appearance. A blue horsehair tassel hung from the handle. The two side blades were straight with concave edges, while the end of the shaft twisted into a corkscrew or drill shape.
"Impossible," Shirayuki said, stunned. "How did she get here?"
"This is interesting," Kyōka murmured.
"Should I be worried?" Ichigo asked.
"Continue with the bonding process," Kyōka advised. "If it's who we suspect, we'll need to have a meeting."
"All right then," Ichigo replied. He took the weapon from Briares and activated Schrift F: Fengári Neró, connecting it with the trident in his hand.
"Hm… it looks like there's already a connection," Ichigo noted. Despite the bond, he sensed they needed one final push for it to become fully functional.
"Rage through the seas of the heavens, Nejibana," Ichigo chanted. Nejibana glowed with divine energy. Suddenly, he was pulled into his mindscape.
Scene Change: Mindscape
Ichigo opened his eyes to find himself seated, surrounded by Zanpakutō spirits: Zangetsu, Yhwach, Kyōka, Hōgyoku, Kisara, Valiona, Shirayuki, Mysteria, Katen, Kyōkotsu, Suzumebachi, Azrael, Vermillion, and Ash. However, there was one stranger seated across from them.
She was a well-endowed young woman with blue eyes, fin-like ears, and long light-blue hair, styled in four curled strands that resembled drills at their lower parts—two in front of her shoulders and two at her back. She wore a Japanese kimono adorned with ocean waves, and instead of legs, she had a blue fishtail with pelvic fins (1).
"How did you get here, Nejibana?" Shirayuki asked. Nejibana gave them a sad smile.
"I came here because of you, Shirayuki," Nejibana replied.
"Huh?" Shirayuki asked.
"When Rukia finally stabbed Kaien in the chest, he tried to transfer as much of me as he could to her," Nejibana explained.
"Huh? Why?" Shirayuki asked, confused.
"Kaien, even at the end, was selfless. He knew Rukia would soon be promoted to Fukutaichō. He wanted me to help her as a mentor, to teach her everything he knew. But it never happened," Nejibana said. Shirayuki sighed, understanding now why Nejibana hadn't revealed herself sooner.
"Kaien's death crushed her," Shirayuki said, and Ichigo listened carefully. "Every time she drew my blade, she would remember Kaien's death. She blamed herself for it. Instead of using me, she focused on Kidō to substitute. This went on for fifty years." Nejibana nodded.
"After seeing her like this, I knew that whenever she was ready to use Shirayuki, I'd be able to help her. So, I created a small corner of her mindscape and fell asleep," Nejibana continued. "When Shirayuki abandoned her bond with Rukia and gave it to you, I was forcibly dragged into your mind, still in a sleeping state."
"And you just woke up now?" Ichigo asked.
"No. When you began using Shirayuki more, I woke up. I quickly realized you wouldn't need me as a mentor with so many Zanpakutō spirits around."
"Are you a Zanpakutō spirit?" Ichigo asked.
Nejibana shook her head. "When Kaien transferred me, only my consciousness was transferred."
"So you're just a powerless spirit until now?" Ichigo asked.
"Indeed. While I drifted around here, I encountered Schrift A: The Aqua Dominum. Seeing it contained water-based reiatsu, I tried to connect with it, but it didn't work. However, when Schrift A: The Aqua Dominum evolved into Schrift F: Fengári Neró, I was able to merge with it. After a sample of Schrift F: Fengári Neró was taken, I was able to influence the Weapon of Power to take on my old Shikai form," Nejibana explained.
"This is a lot to take in," Ichigo said.
"Indeed," Nejibana replied.
"Are there any other hitchhikers in King's realm?" Zangetsu growled.
"No. I haven't found another 'hitchhiker' during my time here," Nejibana explained.
"Look," Ichigo said, "What's done is done." He turned to Nejibana. "Now that you embody Schrift F: Fengári Neró, will you use that power against me?"
"Do you think so little of me?" Nejibana asked. Ichigo didn't reply, but the other spirits were watching her closely. Nejibana sighed.
"I won't use your power against you," she said. "I'll help guide you through using my spear form and Schrift F: Fengári Neró."
"That's fine," Ichigo said as he extended his hand. Nejibana shook it. They let go.
"I need to get back out there," Ichigo said as he left his mindscape.
Scene Change: Underground Forge: Weapon Range
Ichigo opened his eyes. No one had noticed his brief trip to the mindscape. Water began to appear around the base of the trident, swirling as he spun it. Ichigo thrust the trident forward, and the water shot out like a snake. As it reached the target, the water rose like a wave and slammed down, drowning the target. Ichigo slashed downward with the trident, sending two crescent waves of water that sliced through another target.
"It seems you've already got the hang of it," Briares commented. He sent Nejibana back to his mindscape.
Ichigo looked at Cottus, Gyges, and Briares. "Thank you for the weapons."
"No," Briares said, "Thank you, Ichigo. For returning my lost brothers."
"For freeing us from Tartarus," Cottus said.
"And for giving us hope for a new future," Gyges added.
"Do you have any simple bracelets?" Ichigo asked.
"We do," Briares responded. "Why do you need them?"
"Can you charm them so that they can only be removed by the owner, willingly?" Ichigo asked.
"I can add that once you explain why," Briares replied.
"I'm planning to make bracelets that will teleport all of you away from here if Zeus or another God tries to threaten you," Ichigo explained.
"Thank you for the concern, Ichigo," Gyges said. Briares handed Ichigo 30 simple bracelets with the applied charms. Ichigo summoned Mysteria.
"Portus," Ichigo cast on the bracelets, thinking about the front of Ichigo's estate. The bracelets glowed as the spell took effect. Ichigo handed the bracelets to the Hekatonkheires.
"To use them, have all the intended people hold onto you and say this phrase: 'Trust in the Gods has fallen,'" Ichigo instructed.
"I see," Cottus said as he placed 10 bracelets on different parts of his body.
Briares and Gyges followed suit. Afterward, Ichigo shook hands with each of the Hekatonkheires. Ichigo, Fleur, and Kahlua then walked back to Ichigo's car. Ichigo started the car and drove into a Garganta.
Scene Change: Los Angeles
The Garganta took them outside the DOA studio. The sun was beginning to set.
"So what are we going to do now?" Fleur asked. Ichigo parked the car at the curb.
"Step out for a moment," Ichigo said. Fleur and Kahlua exchanged confused glances but did as he asked. Ichigo inserted the key into the rear and turned it. A soft click sounded before he pulled the key out and opened the door.
"All right now, go ahead and step inside," Ichigo said. Fleur and Kahlua obeyed, their eyes widening in surprise as they found themselves standing inside a house.
"For the next two hours, take some time to shower and get ready for tonight's event," Ichigo told them.
"Is the water filtered?" Kahlua asked.
"I don't think so," Ichigo replied.
"It's fine. I'll take a bath," Kahlua reassured.
"Where are we going?" Fleur asked.
"I'm not telling," Ichigo said as he left the pocket dimension. He returned to the driver's side of the car and began to drive to the next destination. After an hour, Ichigo finally arrived. He parked the car and entered the pocket dimension. He locked the door, preventing Fleur or Kahlua from trying to leave. Ichigo went to the bathroom and took a shower. He dressed in a simple white shirt, black jacket, and matching black pants. Ichigo waited for Fleur and Kahlua.
The door soon opened as Kahlua stepped out. She wore a flowing white dress with snow-white gloves and boots, the same outfit he'd seen her wear at the Yuki-onna village. Fleur was dressed in a simple silvery-gray dress.
"Both of you look lovely," Ichigo complimented.
"Thank you," Kahlua replied.
"So where are we going?" Fleur asked.
Ichigo smiled. "Follow me," he said. They walked to the car and followed Ichigo. There was a long line of people waiting outside, with guards standing by the door, preventing entry. The guards noticed Ichigo, Fleur, and Kahlua approaching.
"Good evening," Ichigo greeted the guards.
"The end of the line is over there," one of the guards said.
Ichigo presented his ticket to the guards. "I do apologize. Please, follow me," the guard said as he motioned for them to come through. Two other guards opened the doors for them. They entered the building.
"The VIPs have entered the building," the guard announced to his team.
"Where are we going?" Fleur asked again.
Ichigo smiled and led the way. They soon arrived at an unmarked door. The guard knocked.
"What is it?" came a voice from the other side.
"The VIPs are here," the guard replied. They heard a loud sigh from within.
"Send them in," came the response. The guard opened the door and they entered. Inside, they saw a beautiful girl with silvery-blonde hair that reached her waist, tied in a ponytail. She wore a simple casual outfit.
"Gabi," Fleur exclaimed, her eyes widening in recognition. The other girl's eyes also widened.
"Sister…" Gabrielle said. Fleur rushed over, and Gabrielle stood to hug her sister.
"What…what are you doing here?" Gabrielle asked, looking at Ichigo. "Who are you?"
"Due to some circumstances, you met me as Kaien Shiba," Ichigo explained. "But my real name is Ichigo Kurosaki."
"And you?" Gabrielle asked, turning to Kahlua.
"I'm Kahlua Shuzen," Kahlua introduced herself. Gabrielle nodded in understanding. Just then, someone burst into the room. She had tanned skin and long black hair, dressed in a pink top and a dark lavender business suit.
"Sorry for bursting in," she said. Gabrielle shot a glare at the guest.
"What is it, Sachet?" Gabrielle asked.
"We had a small accident with two of our models," Sachet explained.
Gabrielle groaned. "What happened?"
"Milli and Chili had another fight," Sachet said.
"Damned girls," Gabrielle muttered as she walked toward the door.
"Want us to come too?" Fleur asked.
"Sure," Gabrielle said. As they walked, Ichigo saw other models beginning to prepare for the show.
"Gabi, what do you do for a living?" Fleur asked.
Gabrielle glanced at Ichigo. "She doesn't know?" Ichigo shrugged. "Fleur, I work in the fashion industry, creating beautiful clothing all over the world."
"Ah," Fleur said, finally understanding. They soon saw two girls being restrained by two other girls.
The first girl, a Caucasian with yellow-blonde hair, was being held by another Caucasian girl with long black hair. On the other side, another girl with red hair was being restrained by an African American girl with short black hair tied in a small ponytail.
"WHAT IS GOING ON!" Gabrielle yelled in anger and frustration.
"Boss," the girls said as they stood up. The redhead and the blonde flinched in pain.
"Someone call for a doctor," Gabrielle ordered.
"A doctor is already on her way," Sachet reported. Gabrielle nodded. "Toni and Jill, go get ready."
"Yes, boss," the girl with black hair and the African American girl replied before leaving.
"Both of you are off the show," Gabrielle said.
"WHAT!?" they shouted in disbelief. Gabrielle glared at them.
"Both of you have been at each other's throats ever since I announced that Millie would be the lead model of the show," Gabrielle said. The doctor arrived shortly after. She began examining the models.
"I'm sorry, Miss Delacour, but both models have sprained ankles," the doctor said.
"What?!" the injured models shouted in unison.
"I see. Sachet, please make sure they both get to their hotel rooms," Gabrielle instructed.
"Yes, Miss Delacour," Sachet replied. Gabrielle turned and walked away.
"Need any help?" Fleur asked.
Gabrielle stopped and quickly glanced at Fleur and Kahlua.
"Hm…" Gabrielle thought. "Can both of you handle being emotionless for a few minutes, while a group of people evaluates the clothes you wear, treating you like pieces of meat?" Gabrielle asked.
"Please, that's just like at Beauxbatons," Fleur said.
"I'm fine with it," Kahlua replied. "The only opinions that matter are those of my friends and family."
"Great," Gabrielle replied. "We've got ten minutes to get you ready for the show." With that, Fleur and Kahlua were whisked away by Gabrielle's makeup crew and dressers, leaving Ichigo and Gabrielle alone.
"Shouldn't you be making sure Fleur and Kahlua are all right?" Ichigo asked.
"They'll be fine," Gabrielle said, looking at Ichigo. "Let's have a private discussion." Ichigo followed Gabrielle to her office. She closed the door behind them and faced Ichigo. "What did you do to Fleur?"
"I knew Fleur had a crush on me," Ichigo began. "I wasn't sure if it was just a crush or something more. So, I challenged her. I challenged her pride, her magical abilities, and her physical abilities."
"How?" Gabrielle asked, intrigued.
"Fleur's goal is to surpass Artoria, who is already far above her in magical and physical abilities," Ichigo explained.
"But what if she quits?" Gabrielle asked, concerned.
"Then she found someone who could make her happy," Ichigo answered. "I told her that if she found someone who made her happy, she should stop pursuing me and instead pursue a relationship with that person." They both looked at the monitor to see Fleur and Kahlua calmly walking down the runway. They made a sharp turn before walking off stage.
"How long will this show last?" Ichigo asked.
"Maybe another seven minutes. Fleur has two more outfits, while Kahlua has one more," Gabrielle replied.
"So, why are you working here?" Ichigo asked.
"I'm working here because I have a debt to pay off," Gabrielle admitted.
"A debt?" Ichigo raised an eyebrow.
"Are you aware of how big the world is?" Gabrielle asked.
"I know about Gods, Demons, Devils, and Angels," Ichigo replied bluntly.
"Oh, good," Gabrielle said. "I made a deal with a devil." She paused. "She agreed to loan me a sum of money to help me find Fleur."
"I see…" Ichigo said, nodding.
"I spent a year searching for her. When I returned and failed, she told me I would be working at her clothing company for a few years. Luckily, I was able to demonstrate my fashion skills and was allowed to make my own fashion line."
"So, who did you borrow money from?" Ichigo asked.
"It was some redhead girl," Gabrielle admitted.
"Wait…" Ichigo pulled out his phone and showed her a picture of Rias. "Is this who you're talking about?"
"Yes, that's her," Gabrielle said, eyes widening. "Wait… how do you know her?"
Ichigo chuckled. "She's a friend of mine." He dialed her number.
"Wait!" Gabrielle shouted, lunging for the phone. Ichigo easily avoided her.
"Hello, Rias," Ichigo greeted.
"Hello, Ichigo. What can I do for you this evening?" Rias asked, her voice warm.
"I was wondering if you could forgive the debt that Gabrielle Delacour owes you," Ichigo said.
"How do you know about that?" Rias asked, surprised.
"I'm with Gabrielle right now. She admitted that she borrowed money from you to find her older sister. It's kind of my fault that her sister disappeared," Ichigo explained.
"Hm… I don't know…" Rias said, considering it.
"Where was Issei yesterday?" Ichigo suddenly asked.
"Huh? He said he was at his friend's house for a movie marathon," Rias replied.
"What if I told you he lied to you?" Ichigo asked.
"What?" Rias replied, surprised.
"I'll send you the photos I have of Issei at Blizzcon if you forgive Gabrielle's debt," Ichigo said.
"Hm… I don't know…" Rias said again.
"It would also allow you to be Akeno for a while," Ichigo added, teasing.
"Fine," Rias finally agreed. Ichigo turned on the speakerphone.
"Go ahead and tell her. You're on speakerphone," Ichigo said.
"Gabrielle Delacour, the debt you owe to me, Rias Gremory, has been paid in full. You are free to separate from the Revocs Corporation and continue your fashion line if you wish," Rias said.
"Wait… your own Revocs Corporation?" Ichigo questioned.
"I was the one who loaned Ragyō Kiryūin the start-up money for Revocs," Rias admitted. "I still own 20 percent of the company."
"Oh, good to know," Ichigo said. He turned off the speakerphone and sent Rias the photos of Issei at Blizzcon. "I just sent you the photos."
"Got them," Rias replied. "ISSEI! YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!" Rias yelled before hanging up. Ichigo turned to Gabrielle to see a black rose on her wrist fading away.
"I'm free from the contract," Gabrielle said, her voice filled with relief. She walked over and hugged Ichigo. "Thank you."
"No problem," Ichigo replied. They heard a knock on the door. Ichigo and Gabrielle let go of each other. Fleur and Kahlua walked back in.
"How was it?" Ichigo asked.
"Not what I was expecting," Fleur admitted.
"Same," Kahlua replied. "Very stiff."
"Well, I don't need to work here anymore," Gabrielle said.
"Huh?" Fleur asked, confused.
"Long story short, Gabrielle owed someone money, and I just paid it off," Ichigo explained.
"So what are you planning to do now?" Fleur asked.
"Why don't we go back home for a while?" Gabrielle suggested.
"Go home… you mean to France?" Fleur asked, raising an eyebrow. Gabrielle nodded.
"Yes, Mama and Papa would be happy to see you," Gabrielle said.
"Um… I'm not sure," Fleur admitted.
"It's fine," Ichigo reassured her.
"I need to go home to pack a bag," Fleur said.
"That's fine," Gabrielle said. "I'll give you the address of my hotel." She wrote it down and handed it to Fleur. Then she turned to Ichigo. "Thanks again for your help."
"No problem," Ichigo said. They left Gabrielle behind, heading to Ichigo's car. They drove off, and Ichigo found an empty alleyway to enter a Garganta.
Scene Change: Ichigo's Estate: Morning
(Language: Japanese)
Ichigo drove out of the Garganta and landed in front of his estate. Fleur quickly opened the door and ran inside, while Ichigo and Kahlua calmly got out of the car. Sakuya opened the door for Fleur.
"Thank you, Sakuya!" Fleur said as she dashed up the stairs.
"Welcome home, Ichigo-sama," Sakuya greeted.
"Hello, Sakuya," Ichigo said. Akua and Raikou walked out of the house. Akua wore a simple black shirt, black pants, combat boots, and a small backpack, while Raikou was dressed in a light violet turtleneck, a darker violet jacket, black leggings, and violet boots.
"I assume it's our turn?" Akua asked.
"Indeed," Ichigo said.
"Did you have fun, Kahlua?" Akua asked.
"I did," Kahlua replied. "I got to see strong people and participate in a fashion show."
"I see…" Akua said nervously, remembering something from the past.
"Don't worry, Akua, I won't force you into a tiny dress or pose," Ichigo said with a reassuring smile.
"Haha." Akua gave a sarcastic laugh.
"I hope it's somewhere fun," Raikou said.
Fleur returned with a small suitcase.
"Did you pack everything you need?" Ichigo asked.
"I did," Fleur replied.
"Why is Fleur coming again?" Akua asked.
"I'm just dropping her off with her sister. They'll be flying to France for a while," Ichigo explained.
"Ah," Akua said in understanding. Sakuya helped Fleur put her luggage in the trunk of the car. Fleur sat in the passenger seat, while Akua and Raikou sat in the back. Ichigo got into the car and drove into a Garganta.
Scene Change: America: Los Angeles
(Language: English)
Ichigo drove out of the Garganta and landed in the empty alleyway from earlier.
"So where are we going after you drop Fleur off?" Akua asked.
"We'll be going to San Francisco," Ichigo said.
"Are you sure? Do you need to rest?" Raikou asked, noticing how dark it was outside.
"I guess we should rest today," Ichigo said.
Fleur guided Ichigo to the hotel Gabrielle was staying in. Ichigo parked the car in the hotel's parking lot. They all got out of the car, and Ichigo helped Fleur get her luggage. They entered the hotel, and Ichigo walked up to the receptionist.
"Good evening, sir. How may I assist you?" the receptionist asked.
"I'd like to book a hotel room for the night," Ichigo said.
"How many beds do you need?" the receptionist asked.
"Three beds," Ichigo replied.
The receptionist nodded, typing away at his computer. "Unfortunately, we don't have any rooms with exactly those requirements. But we can offer you a room with a queen-size bed and a fold-out twin-size couch."
"I guess that works," Ichigo said.
"If it doesn't suit you, feel free to come back down, and I'll make another arrangement," the receptionist offered.
"Thank you," Ichigo said. "Credit card, please."
Ichigo handed over his card. The receptionist swiped it and handed it back. "You're in room 413. How many room keys do you need?"
"Just one," Ichigo replied.
"Very well," the receptionist said, handing over the key. "Have a wonderful evening."
"You too," Ichigo replied. He met back up with the girls, and they headed to the elevator.
"Which room is Gabrielle in?" Ichigo asked.
"She's in room 548," Fleur said, looking at the note.
"I see," Ichigo said, pressing the button for the fifth floor. A minute later, they arrived on the floor. "Got everything? Legal paperwork, cards, clothes?"
"Yes, Ichigo," Fleur reassured him. Ichigo hugged Fleur.
"Stay safe and enjoy your vacation home," Ichigo said.
"Thank you," Fleur said, kissing him on the cheek. She walked down the hallway as Ichigo pushed the button for the elevator. The elevator descended to the fourth floor, where they got out and walked to their room. They entered, and Ichigo handed the sleeping potion to Akua and Raikou.
"I'm going to bed now. If you two want to stay up, just do it quietly," Ichigo said as he walked to the bedroom and fell asleep.
Time Skip: Morning
Ichigo opened his eyes to feel something soft and warm. He looked up to see Raikou looking down at him.
"Morning, Ichigo-kun," she said softly.
"Morning, Raikou," Ichigo replied, realizing he was lying on her lap. He noticed Akua was sleeping beside him, hugging his arm like a body pillow. Ichigo gently shook his trapped arm.
Akua slowly opened her eyes and saw Ichigo looking at her. "Good morning, Akua. Can I have my arm back?" Ichigo asked.
Her face turned bright red as she quickly let go of his hand. Ichigo and Raikou chuckled at the embarrassed vampire. Ichigo got out of bed, much to Raikou's disappointment. He walked out of the bedroom and found the room service menu.
"Here's the menu. Please pick out what you want for breakfast," Ichigo said as he handed the menu to Akua and went to the bathroom for a shower. A few minutes later, Ichigo walked out to find the menu filled out.
"I'm going to take a shower," Akua said as she stood up.
"Wait," Ichigo said. "The showers aren't filtered."
"I see… I guess I'll take a bath then," Akua replied.
"Allow me to help you." Raikou volunteered, subconsciously releasing her motherly aura. Akua sighed in defeat.
"Fine."
"Yay!" Raikou cheered, dragging Akua toward the bathroom. Ichigo shook his head, grabbed the room service menu, and ordered their breakfast. He pulled out his laptop and booked the final part of his trip around America. Soon, someone knocked on the door. Ichigo stood up and walked to answer it. It was their breakfast.
"Food's here," Ichigo mentally called to Raikou and Akua. The bathroom door opened, and an annoyed Akua walked out, followed by a smiling Raikou. They were dressed in their casual clothes. They joined Ichigo at the table and began eating.
"So, where are we going?" Raikou asked.
"Just a short trip to San Francisco," Ichigo said.
"I see…" Raikou replied. As they continued eating, there was another knock on the door. Ichigo stood up curiously and walked over to the door. When he opened it, he saw Gabrielle and Fleur.
"Hello, ladies. What can I do for you?" Ichigo asked.
"We just wanted to stop by before we leave," Fleur said.
"I see," Ichigo said, pulling Fleur into a hug.
"Stay safe, Fleur. Let me know if anything happens in France," Ichigo said.
"I will," Fleur replied, ending the hug. Ichigo hugged Gabrielle next.
"Thank you for paying off my debt to Rias," Gabrielle said.
"No problem. Friends help out friends," Ichigo replied. Fleur glanced at Akua and Raikou.
"Make sure Ichigo stays out of trouble," Fleur said.
Akua and Raikou smiled.
"I'll let you know, I don't find trouble. Trouble finds me instead," Ichigo said. Fleur and Gabrielle chuckled as they left.
Soon, they finished breakfast and checked out of the hotel. They all climbed into Ichigo's car and began driving up California.
"So, Akua, what have you been doing since the end of the investigation at Kyushu Island?" Ichigo asked.
"Nothing much," Akua admitted. "Yasaka-hime had me test their defenses against spies."
"Let me guess, it didn't go well?" Ichigo asked.
"Kind of," Akua replied. "Yasaka-hime's defenses were geared for Eastern methods of spying but not Western ones."
"I see… So how did Yasaka-hime solve the issue?" Ichigo asked.
"She used Mysteria when she was available and also asked Sirzechs for help."
"Did that help?"
"Surprisingly, yes," Akua said.
"Besides that, what else have you been doing?"
"I've started organizing the maids into divisions," Akua said.
"Oh? Tell me more."
"Senko, Yuri, and Sakuya are in charge of a division of 100 maids. Each maid specializes in one form of combat. Senko oversees the offensive, Yuri handles the defensive, and Sakuya is in charge of the supportive," Akua explained. "I help Yuri teach them hand-to-hand combat and techniques for disarming opponents."
"Who teaches the offensive and supportive portions?"
"I do," Raikou interjected. "I teach the offensive how to use the katana, spear, and ax, and we review how to use the halberd. I also teach the supportive how to use the bow."
"What does the supportive division do?" Ichigo asked.
"They use their magic to support both the offensive and defensive divisions and provide long-range support," Akua explained.
"I see…" Ichigo said. They soon entered a town called Orchid Bay, and they all felt a shift in the air, as though they'd crossed some kind of barrier.
"Anyone else feel that?" Ichigo asked.
"I did," Akua replied.
"So did I," Raikou added. Suddenly, someone appeared in front of their car. Ichigo quickly stopped the vehicle, and everyone got out. In front of them stood a young Asian girl with waist-long black straight hair, a pink wisp running through it from the left side. She wore a green t-shirt with dark red edges, jeans, and brown boots.
"Hello, miss," Ichigo began.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Isn't it rude to demand someone's name without introducing yourself first?" Ichigo countered. The girl sighed.
"I'm Juniper Lee," she said.
"So this is the other candidate for Te Xuan Ze," Ichigo thought.
"You know about Te Xuan Ze?" Akua asked.
"You know about it?" Ichigo asked.
"I fought a few of the Te Xuan Ze when I was training in China," Akua replied.
"I am Ichigo Kurosaki, and this is Raikou and Akua," Ichigo said.
"Why are you in Orchid Bay?" Juniper asked.
"We were just passing through until you jumped in front of my car," Ichigo replied.
"Sorry about that," Juniper said. "The barrier shifted when you crossed it. I noticed and saw you entering the city."
"I see…" Ichigo said.
"Juniper Lee!" someone shouted. They turned to see an elderly lady walking toward them.
"Pinyin [grandma," Juniper said, running to her grandmother. "What happened?"
"I sensed an old foe from your great grandfather's time," she said. "I feared the worst and came running."
"Oh, I remember you," Akua said, turning to the elderly woman. "You must be the daughter of the last Te Xuan Ze I fought."
"Indeed. I am Jasmine Lee," the lady said. "Are you here to attack the next Te Xuan Ze?"
"No need," Akua replied. "Neither of you is strong enough to be a challenge."
Both Jasmine and Juniper glared at Akua.
"Enough." Ichigo firmly said, stepping in. He looked at Akua. "Stop picking on the weakling who's too weak to give you a challenge."
"Yes, Ichigo," Akua said with a sad pout. Ichigo glanced at Jasmine.
"Are you going to tell your granddaughter the truth about the Te Xuan Ze, or should I?" he asked. Juniper looked at Jasmine, confused.
"What does he mean, Pinyin?" Juniper asked.
Jasmine met Ichigo's gaze.
"Lao Shi," Ichigo said. Jasmine sighed. She turned to her granddaughter and began telling her about their family and the truth of the Te Xuan Ze, including Jake Long.
"What about the barrier around Orchid Bay?" Juniper asked.
"It's a barrier I created to warn me if any powerful beings enter Orchid Bay," Jasmine explained.
"So why does it prevent me from leaving?" Juniper asked.
"Because I don't know how you would react to the truth," Jasmine admitted. Juniper turned away and ran off. Jasmine sighed, watching her granddaughter flee. She looked at Ichigo.
"Does it make you feel good, making someone cry?" she asked.
"It doesn't," Ichigo replied. "But telling her now, while she's still weaker, is much better than waiting until she's older and stronger."
"I agree," Jasmine said quietly, "but it still hurts seeing Juniper so sad."
"I hate to be rude, but are we allowed to continue on our way?" Raikou asked.
Jasmine nodded.
"Please, go," she said, turning away, likely to find Juniper. Ichigo, Raikou, and Akua returned to the car and drove through Orchid Bay, crossing the barrier once more as they left.
"What else have you been doing with your free time, Akua?" Ichigo asked.
"Oddly enough, I've been focusing on my calligraphy, both in Chinese and Japanese," Akua replied.
"Are you part Chinese?" Raikou asked.
"Yes," Akua said. "My mother was a servant to a Chinese noble, tasked with entertaining my father. After their night together, my father moved on. Eventually, it was discovered that my mother was pregnant with me, and she was fired. She was left on the streets, where I was born. She taught me what she could learn from watching the noble ladies. A few years later, she died, and I was left to live alone."
Suddenly, Raikou leaned over and hugged Akua.
"Don't worry, Mama Raikou is here," Raikou said.
Akua sighed, unbuckling her seatbelt and sitting in the back, where Raikou could hold her.
"It does feel nice to get a hug when I tell someone about my past," Akua admitted.
"Sorry for making you feel uncomfortable," Ichigo apologized.
"It's not your fault," Akua reassured him. Ichigo turned on the radio to play some music as they continued driving.
Time Skip: Two hours
Ichigo stopped the car at a rest stop.
"Why are we stopping here?" Raikou asked.
"I thought it would be good to take a short break before we reach our final destination," Ichigo said.
"Sure," Akua said as she got out of the car. "I was starting to get hungry."
"Let's see what they have to eat," Raikou said.
"You two go ahead," Ichigo said. Raikou and Akua walked inside the rest stop. Ichigo stared at a nearby tree.
"You can come out, Thalia," Ichigo said.
Slowly, Thalia Grace emerged from behind the tree.
"How did you know I was here?" she asked.
"A magician never reveals his secrets." Thalia rolled her eyes. "I take it you're here to find your brother."
"I am," Thalia replied.
"Do you want a ride?" Ichigo asked.
"You know how to get there?" she asked.
"I have a tracking spell on him," Ichigo explained.
"Sure," Thalia said.
"Let's get something to eat," Ichigo said. Thalia nodded and followed him inside. They joined Raikou and Akua at the table.
"So, who is this, Ichigo?" Raikou asked.
"This is Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus," Ichigo introduced. "Thalia, these are Raikou and Akua."
Raikou extended her hand politely to Thalia, who shook it. Ichigo noticed sparks of electricity briefly pass between them. They nodded at each other before the server arrived with menus.
"Eat as much as you want, Thalia," Ichigo said.
"No, I—" Thalia's stomach interrupted her with a loud growl. She quickly grabbed her menu, trying to hide her embarrassment. Ichigo, Raikou, and Akua chuckled.
Thalia calmed down, and everyone ordered their food.
"So, Thalia," Akua began, "I assume you're joining us on our trip?"
"I am," Thalia replied.
"Why?" Akua asked.
Thalia began explaining her missing younger brother and Ichigo's revelation about his whereabouts. By the end of the conversation, both Raikou and Akua turned to Ichigo.
"We're going to help her find her younger brother, right?" Akua asked.
"Parents shouldn't separate families," Raikou added.
Ichigo smiled. "Of course, we're helping her. She's a fellow older sibling."
Thalia was taken aback by the overwhelming support. Their server returned with their food, and they ate in silence. Once they finished, Ichigo paid for the meal, and they all left the restaurant. They climbed into the car, and Ichigo drove off.
Scene Change: San Francisco
They soon arrived in San Francisco, where Ichigo followed the tracking spell on Jason Grace. They eventually reached a maintenance service tunnel and saw two Roman soldiers standing guard. Ichigo stopped the car in front of the tunnel and they got out.
"Are you lost, sir?" one of the soldiers asked.
"I'm looking for Camp Jupiter," Ichigo said.
The guards pointed their spears at Ichigo. "Who are you?"
"I'm here to see Jason Grace," Ichigo replied. The guards exchanged glances. One ran into the tunnel while the other stayed behind to keep watch. A few minutes later, the guard returned with Jason Grace. His eyes widened when he saw Ichigo.
"Hello Ichigo," Jason said.
"Hello Jason," Ichigo greeted. "I was wondering if I could have a private discussion with you."
"Sure," Jason said. The guards allowed them to pass. Jason guided them to a private room. Ichigo cast a privacy kidō to prevent anyone from spying.
"So, what can I do for you?" Jason asked. Thalia stepped forward, taking a deep breath.
"Jason," she began, "do you remember who your mother is?" Jason's eyes widened.
"I don't know much," Jason said. "But I know she has blonde hair and blue eyes, which I inherited from her." Thalia nodded.
"Do you recognize who's in this photo?" Thalia asked as she handed him a photo. Jason took the photo and looked at it. The picture showed a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, holding a small baby with matching blonde hair and blue eyes. Beside her was a young girl with black hair and the same blue eyes. Jason's eyes widened as he realized who the baby boy was. He looked at Thalia, his expression shifting.
"Sister?" he whispered.
"Yes, little brother," she replied as they hugged each other.
"How were we separated?" Jason asked.
"Mother," Thalia growled, "said that she gave you away to some lady."
"My earliest memory is being raised by Lupa," Jason said.
"I would believe the lady in question is probably Hera/Juno," Ichigo said.
"Indeed," came a voice from behind them. Everyone turned to see an adult woman standing before them, her mere presence radiating divine energy.
"Lady Juno," Jason said, kneeling out of either fear or respect. Thalia nodded at the sight of her. Ichigo, Raikou, and Akua remained standing.
"Rise Jason," Juno said, then nodded to Thalia.
"I assume you were the one who took Jason?" Ichigo asked.
"Indeed," Juno confirmed.
"Why?" Thalia asked.
"At that time, I was very annoyed with Jupiter when Jason was born," Juno explained. "It's one thing if he cheats with a mortal. It's another when he cheats with the same mortal and has two children with her." She paused, glancing at Thalia. "Even if one of them is from the Greek version of my husband."
"Glad to be hated by both versions of my stepmother," Thalia said sarcastically.
"Anyways, why are you here?" Ichigo interrupted. Juno sighed.
"The moment you leave this room, Jupiter will be aware that both of you met," Juno said. "For some reason, he fears the repercussions if both of you meet." Jason began to look nervous while Thalia scowled. "I came to wipe Jason's memory of meeting you and teleport you all away."
Ichigo looked at Thalia and Jason.
"Thank you for the offer, Juno, but no thank you," Ichigo said. Juno sighed.
"Very well," she said, then disappeared.
Jason looked at Ichigo.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"He already kicked Zeus's butt in a fight," Thalia reassured him.
"He has?" Jason asked, surprised.
"I have," Ichigo said. Ichigo lowered the barrier around them, and they walked out of the room. A bolt of lightning struck down in front of them. Standing before them was Jupiter.
"Father," Jason said, kneeling again, whether from fear or respect. Thalia glared at her father, while Ichigo, Raikou, and Akua calmly stared at him.
"Rise my son," Jupiter said. Jason stood up. "It seems you've met your sister."
"I have," Jason said. "And I don't like the fact you separated us."
"I had no choice," Jupiter replied.
"Anyways," Thalia interrupted, "we've reunited, and I will stay by his side."
"And if I kick all of you out of Camp Jupiter?" Jupiter challenged.
"Then we'll go to Camp Half-Blood," Thalia said, glaring back at Jupiter. He responded with a glare of his own, small sparks of lightning flickering around his hands.
"Don't try it," Ichigo said, stepping in front of them. "Thalia Grace and Jason Grace are now under my protection." Ichigo summoned Stormbreaker to his hand and pointed it at Jupiter. "You know who I am. You know who my allies are. Don't think I won't call them here," he threatened.
"Fine then," Jupiter growled. "Jason Grace is hereby banned from Camp Jupiter." His voice echoed throughout the camp.
Ichigo nodded. "Very well then. Now leave. Jason will pack his belongings and then leave."
Jupiter glared at Ichigo before disappearing. Ichigo sent Stormbreaker back to his mindscape. He turned to Thalia and Jason.
"Sorry for doing that to you," Ichigo apologized.
"So what does it mean to be under your protection?" Jason asked.
"Simple," Ichigo replied. "If someone attacks you, they'll have to deal with me." He handed them two bracelets. "Put these on."
"What are these for?" Thalia asked.
"These are special bracelets," Ichigo explained. "By saying a unique phrase, you'll be teleported to my personal estate. Once these bracelets are on, no one can rip them off or force you to remove them."
"What's the phrase?" Jason asked.
"The phrase is 'Trust in the Gods has fallen,'" Ichigo said.
"Make sense," Thalia said as she placed the bracelet on. Jason followed suit. He went back to his room to pack his belongings.
"Do you want me to drop you off at Camp Half-Blood?" Ichigo offered.
"No thanks," Thalia replied. "I want to use that time to bond with Jason."
"Make sense," Ichigo said. "Do you need anything from me? Like camping equipment or money?"
"If you've got a spare tent and a few sleeping bags," Thalia said.
Ichigo snapped his fingers, and his old tent and sleeping bags appeared from his mindscape. He handed them to Thalia.
"Thanks," she said.
"Let me make it easier for you to carry," Ichigo said, noticing Thalia lacked a hiking backpack to store all the gear. He tapped the tent and sleeping bags, making them glow briefly.
"Shrink," Ichigo commanded. The tent shrank to the size of a matchbox. "Grow." The matchbox-sized tent grew back to its normal size.
"Thanks, Ichigo," Thalia said.
"One last thing." Ichigo handed her a stack of money. Her eyes widened.
"I-I can't," she said.
"Please, I've got too much cash on hand," Ichigo reassured her.
"Fine," Thalia said, carefully storing the money in her inner jacket pocket. Jason returned with a small backpack.
"Bye, everyone," Thalia and Jason said.
"Goodbye, you two," Ichigo, Raikou, and Akua replied. They all left Camp Jupiter and entered Ichigo's car.
"Ready to go back home?" Ichigo asked.
"Sure," Raikou said.
"I guess," Akua added.
After ten minutes of driving, Ichigo found an abandoned warehouse. He drove into the warehouse, opened a Garganta, and drove through it.
Scene Change: Ichigo's Estate
(Language is in Japanese)
Ichigo drove out of the Garganta to see it was late afternoon. He stopped the car in front of the estate, and everyone exited the car. Ichigo noticed Akasha just walking out of the estate.
"Hello, Akasha," Ichigo hugging her.
"Hello, Ichigo," Akasha replied as they let go of each other.
"Were you able to finalize the last part of your trip around America?" she asked.
"I did," Ichigo said.
"Tamamo found out about your little trip with everyone in the peerage."
"Let me guess—she pouted and was very jealous."
"She was. We agreed she could have a few hours with you when you finish with America," Akasha said.
"Okay then," Ichigo said, giving her a brief kiss on the lips. "See you in a few days."
"See you." Akasha waved as Ichigo entered his car. Another Garganta opened in front of him, and he drove inside it.
Scene Change: Hueco Mundo: Las Noches
Ichigo drove out of the Garganta and landed in front of Las Noches. The guards immediately noticed him and stood at attention as he walked up the stairs.
"Carry on," Ichigo said as he walked past them. This process repeated each time a pair of guards saw him. Ichigo sensed Tier's location and eventually arrived at her bedroom. He knocked on the door.
"Come in, Ichigo," Tier said. Ichigo opened the door to find Tier reading a book.
"I guess it's my turn?" she asked.
"Indeed," Ichigo said. Tier placed her book down and stood up.
"Let's go find Nel and my peerage before we leave," Tier suggested.
"Good idea," Ichigo replied. They left her room and walked down to Nel's room. Tier knocked on her door.
"Come in," Nel replied. Ichigo opened the door to find Nel lying on her bed.
"Hello, Ichigo," Nel said.
"Hello, Nel," Ichigo replied.
"You're taking Tier now?" she asked.
"I am," Ichigo replied.
"Okay then," Nel said as she slowly got out of bed. "I'll watch over Las Noches."
Ichigo and Tier walked down a hallway and arrived at two rooms. Tier knocked on both doors. The doors opened to reveal Apacci and Sung-Sung.
"Yes, Harribel-sama?" they said.
"I will be leaving with Ichigo for a while. Please help Nel watch over Las Noches," Tier said.
"Very well, Harribel-sama," they replied. With that, Ichigo and Tier walked out of Las Noches and back to his car. Ichigo opened a Garganta and drove through it.
Scene Change: San Francisco
(Language is in English)
In the same empty warehouse, a Garganta opened. Ichigo drove out of it.
"Where are we?" Tier asked.
"San Francisco," Ichigo replied as he drove out of the warehouse.
"So, what's the plan?" she asked.
"For this evening, we'll check into our hotel and then go out for a date," Ichigo said.
"Then what?" Tier asked. Ichigo smiled.
"You'll find out tomorrow," he said. Tier stared at him. They arrived at their hotel. Ichigo sent his car to his mindscape, and they quickly checked in.
"So, where are we going?" Tier asked.
"You'll find out. Dress in something informal," Ichigo said as he went to his room. Tier stared at him before going to the bathroom. Ichigo walked out dressed in a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black pants. Tier was dressed in a simple white and gold dress.
"So, where are we eating?" Tier asked. Ichigo didn't reply as they entered Ichigo's car again. He drove her to a fancy restaurant. The server escorted them to their table, which had an excellent view of the setting sun on the beach.
"This is beautiful," Tier said, enjoying the view.
"Thank you," Ichigo said. A server walked over and presented them with a menu. Ichigo ordered salmon, while Tier ordered a steak. The server quickly returned with their food.
"So, Tier, how's running Hueco Mundo?" Ichigo asked.
"In your stead?" she asked. Ichigo nodded.
"It was boring, really," she admitted.
"I heard that a while ago, a few hollows tried to rebel against your rule," Ichigo said.
"There was," Tier said.
"What did you do with them?" Ichigo asked.
"We captured them and forced them to fight against the Espada to the death unless they swore allegiance to you," Tier explained.
"How did that go?" Ichigo asked.
"The leader of their little rebellion was the first one in the arena. The moment he died, the other hollows folded and swore allegiance to you," Tier said.
"Anything else?" Ichigo asked.
"Doing that scared all the other hollows… until Grimmjow showed up and formally challenged you for the throne," Tier said. They soon finished their dinner. Ichigo paid for the meal, and they left. By now, the sun had already set. They walked down the beach.
"It's been a long time since I've been on a beach," Tier said.
"Do you want to sit down?" Ichigo asked.
"Sure," Tier replied. They both sat down, and Tier could feel the sea breeze.
"This feels nice," she thought as she relaxed. She leaned on Ichigo's shoulder, and he cracked a smile, enjoying the moment. He glanced over and noticed Tier had fallen asleep. Ichigo gently picked her up in a princess carry and carried her back to their hotel room. Tier subconsciously moved closer and cuddled into him. The hotel staff happily helped Ichigo open their hotel door. Ichigo placed the sleeping Tier on the bed. He discovered she refused to let go of him. Ichigo chuckled as he transfigured their clothes into pajamas and went to bed.
Time Skip: Next Morning
Tier slowly began to wake up. She felt something warm hugging her.
"Did Nel sneak into my bed again?" Tier thought as she opened her eyes. Her eyes widened as she realized who was beside her.
"Good morning, Tier," Ichigo said.
"Good morning, Ichigo," Tier replied.
"I don't remember drinking last night," she said, confused.
"Allow me to explain," Ichigo said. "After dinner, we were sitting by the beach, enjoying the sea breeze." Ichigo began. "Then you leaned on my shoulder." Tier's eyes widened. "Eventually, you fell asleep on my shoulder. Being the gentleman, I carefully picked you up in a princess carry." Tier blushed, remembering the warmth of being carried. "I had to walk from the beach to our hotel room. Everyone saw me carrying you. Some gave us jealous looks. The hotel staff helped me open the door since my hands were full." Tier's blush deepened. "When we got to our hotel room, I placed you on the bed. To my surprise, you refused to let go. So, I changed our clothes into pajamas," Tier looked down and noticed she was wearing blue pajamas. "And laid down with you."
"I see…" Tier said. She stood up and carefully walked into the bathroom. Ichigo could hear the loud rush of water being turned on, drowning out any sound from the bathroom. Ichigo shook his head and changed into something casual. He walked outside of the bedroom and looked at the menu. A few moments later, he heard the water stop.
"Ichigo?" Tier shouted from the bathroom.
"Yes?" Ichigo replied.
"Could you change my clothes?" she asked.
"Sure," Ichigo replied as he waved his hand, changing the clothes Tier had in the bathroom.
"Thank you," she said. A few minutes later, she walked out of the bedroom wearing a yellow shirt with the outline of a shark and a pair of blue jeans. Ichigo handed her the room service menu. She quickly picked out her food and handed it back to Ichigo. He placed the order and sat on the couch.
"So, what are we doing today?" she asked. Ichigo handed her a sheet of paper. She took it and read it, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"We're going to Hawaii?" she asked.
"We are," Ichigo said. "We have a flight to Hawaii in a few hours." Suddenly, Tier appeared on his lap and hugged him.
"Thank you. I've always wanted to go back home," she said as she hugged him. Ichigo chuckled. Just then, they heard a loud knock at the front door. Tier got off his lap, allowing Ichigo to answer the door. He opened it to find the server with their food.
"Good morning," the server said as he placed their food on the table.
"Thank you," Ichigo said as he tipped the server.
"Thank you, and have a good morning."
"Same to you," Ichigo said as he closed the door. They began to eat their breakfast.
"What are we doing in Hawaii?" she asked. Ichigo shrugged.
"I'm letting you choose," Ichigo said.
"Huh?" she replied.
"When we get to Hawaii, you get to decide where we go, where we eat, and where we sleep." Tier's eyes widened.
"I-I need time to plan this out," she said.
"Well, congratulations, you don't have time," Ichigo said as he stood up.
"Why?" Tier asked.
"After breakfast, we need to head to the airport," Ichigo said.
"What!?" Tier shouted.
"Look at your ticket." She stopped eating and looked at her ticket, then glanced at the clock.
"Why did you tell me this now?!" Tier exclaimed.
Ichigo smiled. They quickly finished their breakfast and left their hotel room. They walked down to the hotel lobby. Tier was still annoyed by Ichigo's actions. They saw someone holding a small sign with Ichigo's name on it.
"Ichigo?" the man asked.
"That's me," Ichigo replied.
"Any luggage?" he asked.
"None." The man nodded.
"Follow me to the car." They followed him to his car, and he drove them to the airport. As they reached the airport, Tier spent the entire drive looking outside. Ichigo couldn't tell if she was still annoyed or if she was amazed by the planes. They arrived at the airport without any issues, checking in for their flight or going through security. They reached their terminal on time. The flight attendants checked their boarding passes one more time before allowing them to board the plane. Their seats were near the front of the plane, and Ichigo gave Tier the window seat, knowing she would spend much of the trip there. Ten minutes later, everyone finished boarding.
"Welcome aboard flight 717, non-stop service from San Francisco, California to Honolulu, Hawaii," the flight attendants began. "Our flight time will be five hours. At this time, please make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position, and your seatbelt is properly fastened." Ichigo chuckled as Tier struggled to adjust her seatbelt.
"Let me help," Ichigo said. The plane began to move. Tier paid close attention to the flight attendants as they explained all the safety features of the plane. Tier turned to Ichigo, looking nervous since this was her first time on a plane. Ichigo held her hand.
"It'll be all right," Ichigo said. Tier held his hand as the plane began to accelerate and take off.
