Chapter 76:
Opening Scene: Washington D.C: White House
President Ellis sat in the Situation Room, located in the basement of the West Wing, surrounded by his National Security Council staff and advisors. A phone near him began to ring. President Ellis picked it up.
"What is it?" he asked.
"Mr. President, our guests have arrived," one of the NSC staff reported.
"Send them down," he replied.
"Mr. President, are you sure we need to meet them here?" a voice asked. The speaker, dark-skinned with pronounced cheekbones and a bald head, was dressed in a United States Navy uniform.
"Colonel Rhodes, I appreciate the concern, but it's necessary, especially if we wish to reunite the nation," President Ellis replied.
The heavy door to the Situation Room opened, and Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Yasutora Sado, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, Magnus Chase, Zelda Spellman, Thomas Andre, Uryū Ishida, Tier Harribel, and Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck entered. The advisors were stunned by the presence of so many powerful individuals.
"Welcome, please take a seat," President Ellis said. Everyone took their seats.
"You may begin, Colonel Bennett," President Ellis instructed.
A Caucasian man stood up and approached a screen showing a map of the United States, a portion highlighted in red.
"After careful reconnaissance, we've developed the best plan for attack," Colonel Bennett began. "We will target the Magic Army and the Liberation Army simultaneously." The map zoomed in on the Liberation Army's territory.
"I propose we have the Legion Fulminata Guild reinforce us in New Mexico." A purple flag with a golden laurel wreath surrounding the letters SPQR appeared on the map over New Mexico.
"I also request Tutor Gigante's assistance in taking over Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in Texas." A maroon flag bearing Tutor Gigante's symbol, a white skull with a green snake coiled around it, appeared at the Texas border.
"I propose the Secret Garden Guild and Valhalla Guild assist us in Missouri." A white flag with the Secret Garden Guild's emblem, a woman with long puffy hair, a few thorny vines, and the words "Secret Garden", appeared at the Missouri-Arkansas border. A silver flag with Valhalla Guild's symbol, and two black ravens in flight, appeared nearby.
"For the Magic Army, I recommend the Spartans and the Scavenger Guild to help us deal with them." A black flag with the Scavenger Guild's symbol, a bear slashing with its claws, appeared in Indiana. Another black flag with the Spartan Guild's emblem, a golden spartan helmet, appeared in Pennsylvania.
"Lastly, I suggest Mystic Force and Shark Empire assist us in attacking from the sea."
"Thank you, Colonel," President Ellis said. He turned to the Guild leaders and representatives. "What do you think of the proposal?"
"It logically makes sense," Annabeth said.
"I agree with Annabeth's assessment," Tier added.
"As long as my guild can go on a rampage, we're good," Thomas commented.
"When do we begin the operation?" Uryū asked.
"We plan to start in three hours," President Ellis replied.
"That won't be enough time to mobilize and move to the location!" Thomas shouted.
"So that's why you asked me to create those Portkeys," Zelda said, drawing everyone's attention to her.
"What's a Portkey?" Percy asked.
"A Portkey is a magical tool that teleports the user to a predetermined destination, usually in both directions," Zelda explained. She glanced at President Ellis. "You want to use these Portkeys once our Guilds are ready."
"Correct," President Ellis answered.
"The only condition is that I recommend using the Portkeys thirty minutes before the operation begins," Zelda added.
"Why's that?" Reyna asked.
"Most witches and wizards agree that it feels uncomfortable, if not downright unpleasant, and could lead to nausea, vomiting, or other negative side effects," Zelda said.
"I see…" Thomas muttered.
Zelda then pulled out seven bundles of black rope. "This is three miles (4.83 kilometers) of Acromantula silk rope," she explained as she handed it to Percy, Reyna, Magnus, Chad, Thomas, Uryū, and Tier.
"What is Acromantula?" Percy asked.
"It's a spider the size of a small sedan," Zelda said. Annabeth, holding a bundle of silk, let out a fearful shriek and quickly threw it back to Percy. He calmly caught it.
"Sorry about that. Annabeth has arachnophobia," Percy apologized on her behalf.
"Anyways," Zelda continued, "when you touch the Portkey, anything that's in contact with it will be teleported. If you wrap something around the rope, it will be taken along for the ride, so long as it's secured."
"What happens if we let go of the Portkey?" Annabeth asked after calming down.
"You'd likely be lost in the time-space continuum," Zelda replied.
"I see…" Annabeth said.
"Is there a password for the Portkey?" Magnus asked.
"The password is 'United we stand,'" Zelda answered.
"Are there any limits on what we can bring with the Portkey?" Thomas asked.
"There are," Zelda replied. "You can only bring what you can carry."
"I see…" Thomas said. He turned to President Ellis. "Since we can't bring our cars, I assume the government will provide vehicles for us?"
"That's correct," President Ellis confirmed.
"Any other questions?" he asked. When no one responded, he stood. "Then, in T minus three hours, we'll begin Operation United We Stand." Everyone stood and was escorted out of the Situation Room.
Scene Change: New Mexico
Reyna and the majority of the Legion Fulminata Guild landed on the ground. Each member was dressed in golden armor. Some took a few steps, trying to reorient themselves. Fortunately, none of them were sick.
"I didn't expect to see you here," someone said. An adult man approached them. He was three inches (7.62 cm) taller than Reyna, with black hair, a black goatee, and brown eyes. He wore red and gold armor with a blue centerpiece.
"I didn't expect to see you, Mr. Stark," Reyna replied with a slightly annoyed tone.
"Come on, Reyna," Tony said, grinning. "The Legion Fulminata and I have worked together a lot."
"Don't remind me," Reyna grimaced.
"Tony!" someone shouted. They turned to see a tall, muscular, dark-skinned girl walking over. She had crimson eyes and long red hair tied in a ponytail. She wore heavy armor and walked straight up to Tony, bear-hugging him.
"Gah, Steel Girl, put me down!" Tony struggled to say.
She released him, stepping back with an apologetic grin. "Sorry, Tony. It's good to see you again."
Some of the soldiers walked toward them.
"Mr. Stark, you're acquainted with the Legion Fulminata Guild?" one of the soldiers asked.
"I am," Tony said. "It started after Al-Qaeda kidnapped me (1)." He paused for a moment, reflecting. "I was working on designing the first Iron Man suit in my basement, blasting heavy metal music, when I didn't hear the news of a dungeon break. The next thing I knew, a few ogres burst into my basement. I used my prototype suit to fight them off, but it wasn't easy. Just when I thought I was done for, a young woman stormed in and started smashing the ogres with a sledgehammer. A group of automatons followed behind her. That heroine's name was Centurion Platinum Steel."
Platinum Steel blushed slightly, looking uncomfortable. "Don't make it sound like a big deal. Most of the ogres were already weakened by the time I arrived," she replied modestly.
"Anyway," Tony continued, "after the battle, we started discussing the automatons, and it led to a working relationship between Stark Industries and the Legion Fulminata Guild."
"We would sell Stark Industries any leftover dungeon resources, help him build magical vehicles for dungeons, and assist in building his personal automaton. In return, we received more funding and a blood oath that prevents Tony from revealing how the automatons were forged," Platinum added.
"It's a good thing our VIPs know each other beforehand," someone said, drawing everyone's attention. A tanned woman walked toward them. She had dirty blonde hair tied up in a bun and wore the same uniform as the soldiers, with two black oak leaves on her collar.
"Good morning, ma'am," the soldiers greeted her as they saluted.
"Good morning to all of you," she replied, returning their salute. The soldiers lowered their hands. She turned to Reyna, Platinum, and Tony. "I'm Lieutenant Colonel Kathleen Sparr," she introduced herself, extending her hand. "You must be Reyna, Guild Master of Legion Fulminata."
"Nice to meet you, Lieutenant Colonel Sparr," Reyna replied, accepting her handshake. They let go.
"Follow me," LtCol Sparr said. Reyna nodded to the Legion Fulminata Guild members before following Tony and LtCol Sparr into a tent. Inside, a table with a map of the area stood in the center. A few officers gathered around it, but they moved aside to let Reyna and Tony get a closer look. The map resembled the one Reyna had seen in the Situation Room but without the markers for the other guilds.
"The plan is simple," LtCol Sparr began. "The nearest enemy base is located at the former White Sands Missile Range. Once we capture it, we'll move deeper into the Liberation Army's territory. According to our intel, their leader is either at Fort Bragg in North Carolina or Fort Hood in Texas. Throughout this operation, anyone we encounter who isn't an ally will be captured immediately. If they retaliate, you're authorized to kill them."
"That's oddly simple," Tony admitted.
"It is," LtCol Sparr agreed. "The simplicity comes from the fact that everyone recognizes this Cold Civil War needs to end."
"I agree," Tony said.
"As long as President Ellis keeps his end of the bargain," Reyna replied. They left the tent to inspect their troops. Reyna observed the Legion Fulminata's chariots, some pulled by automaton horses, others by skeleton horses.
"Centurion Victoria!" Reyna called out.
"Coming!" A young woman stepped forward. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes, and like the others, she wore the standard golden armor. "Yes, Centurion Reyna?" she asked.
"Prepare for the battle while I'm gone," Reyna instructed.
"Yes, Centurion Reyna," Victoria replied, immediately giving orders to the other Legion Fulminata members.
Reyna followed Tony and LtCol Sparr as they continued to inspect the troops. Tony was carrying his helmet in his arms, and behind him walked thirty automatons—each resembling Tony, but armed with either a gladius and shield or a pila and shield.
"Meet the Ferrum Legion," Tony said with a grin.
"Iron Legion," Reyna translated.
Tony nodded. "I felt it was necessary to give them a Roman name to honor all the help you've given me."
"So that's why you asked to record a few videos showing how a Roman would use a gladius with a shield, and a pila with a shield," Reyna said.
"Yes," Tony confirmed. "These are the Model Gladiī [Swords] and Ferrum Pilae [Iron Ball]."
"Okay," Reyna replied.
"Anyways, they're about to begin the operation," Tony said, motioning for everyone to take their positions. The Legion Fulminata and the Ferrum Legion moved to the front, while the regular soldiers formed up in the rear.
"United Legion… Operation: United We Stand… START!" LtCol Sparr yelled, her voice ringing with authority.
"Charge!" Reyna shouted. The war chariots sped forward, racing into the enemy's side of New Mexico. The Ferrum Legion soared across the battlefield, using thrusters to propel them through the air.
"We're being invaded!" an enemy soldier yelled, panic in his voice. The alarm blared across the enemy base. Turrets lined the base and began firing bullets at them.
"Ferrum Legion, use your shields to block those bullets!" Tony ordered. The Ferrum Legion flew in front of the United Legion, raising their glowing shields to block the incoming fire. The bullets ricocheted harmlessly off the shields, and the United Legion pressed forward, undeterred by the barrage.
Scene Change: Former White Sands Missile Range
"Liberation Command. This is Western Outpost, over!" The radio operator's voice echoed, but all he heard was silence. He repeated his call. "Liberation Command. This is Western Outpost, over!" Again, nothing but static. The operator turned to his commander.
"Sir, our communication lines are down," he reported.
"I see…" The muscular Caucasian man standing nearby was over six feet tall (183 cm). He grabbed a microphone and turned it on. "All members of the Western Outpost, this is General Garrett," he said, his voice low but commanding. "Code Red. Kill the Enemy!" He quickly turned the microphone off. Soldiers in the room sprang to action, grabbing weapons. General Garrett donned black armor with a lion motif, armed with a matching black saber and shield.
Scene Change: With United Legion
It didn't take long for the United Legion to breach the enemy base. They were met with a mix of regular soldiers armed with guns and Awakened Hunters wielding swords.
"Attack the enemy!" the regular soldiers shouted, opening fire on the United Legion.
"Shield Rush!" Tony commanded. The Ferrum Legion raised their shields, deflecting the incoming bullets as they charged toward the enemy lines.
"Incoming!" one of the soldiers shouted. Some of the enemy soldiers dodged, leaping out of the way, but others were tackled by the Ferrum Legion's charge.
"Die!" a hunter yelled, charging at one of the Model Gladiī with a sword raised. The Model Gladius blocked the attack with its shield, and the gladius glowed red before slicing the hunter cleanly in two.
"Gideon!" another hunter yelled in horror as he rushed toward the Model Gladius that had killed his ally. A Model Pila intervened, bashing the hunter aside with its shield before impaling him with its spear.
"Nathaniel!" another hunter cried.
"Will you continue to fight or willingly surrender?" Tony asked, surveying the situation.
"I'll surrender," a soldier said, dropping her weapon.
"Paula, what are you doing?" a soldier shouted, seeing her surrender.
"Wilfred, they're too strong," Paula replied. More soldiers began following her example, dropping their weapons.
"You traitor!" Wilfred yelled. Tony sighed, then fired a precise energy blast at him, instantly killing him.
"Get on your knees with your hands on top of your head if you want to surrender," Tony instructed. The remaining soldiers and hunters complied, dropping their weapons and following Tony's orders.
"YOU TRAITORS!" someone screamed. Tony turned just in time to see General Garrett charging toward him, saber raised and glowing blue.
Tony fired two energy blasts from his hands, but General Garrett blocked both attacks with his shield.
"Double Gladius," Tony said calmly. Two Model Gladiī hurled their gladii at Tony, who grabbed them mid-air and charged at General Garrett. With a series of rapid strikes, Tony attacked with the glowing red gladii, forcing General Garrett to use his shield to block every blow. Meanwhile, the United Legion began escorting the surrendered prisoners away from the chaos.
"You're stalling me!" General Garrett growled, his anger mounting.
"I am," Tony admitted with a grin. He suddenly dropped the gladii and grabbed General Garrett's shield, pulling it downward to unbalance him. The two Model Gladiī who had previously lost their gladii tackled the general, forcing him to the ground. They pinned him down, ensuring he couldn't escape.
"So, you caught the General of this base," Reyna said, walking over with a pair of handcuffs in her hands. The Model Gladiī forced General Garrett's arms behind his back, allowing her to cuff him easily.
"What did you do to me?!" General Garrett shouted, struggling as the Model Gladiī hauled him up and dragged him away.
"Gotta love enchanted handcuffs," Reyna said with a grin.
"Where are the rest of our forces?" Tony asked, glancing around. Most of the United Army and Legion Fulminata seemed to be absent.
"They're patrolling the area, ensuring it's secure before Lieutenant Colonel Sparr arrives," Reyna explained.
"I see," Tony replied. They walked outside, where the rest of the United Army and Legion Fulminata were returning, bringing more prisoners with them. Shortly afterward, LtCol Sparr arrived with the remaining forces.
"Place them in here," LtCol Sparr ordered, pointing to several empty 7-Ton Troop Carriers. The prisoners were loaded into the vehicles.
"Are we keeping the prisoners with us?" Reyna asked.
"No," LtCol Sparr replied. A soldier poked his head out of one of the troop carriers.
"Ma'am, Troop Carrier One is ready to go," he reported.
"Troop Carrier Two is also ready to go," another soldier called from another carrier.
"Sergeant Davis, the password is 'You are.' Sergeant Waller, the password is 'not forgotten,'" LtCol Sparr commanded.
"Yes, ma'am!" both sergeants replied. They quickly withdrew into their vehicles, closing the doors behind them. In an instant, the troop carriers vanished, leaving the battlefield behind.
"Portkeys?" Reyna guessed.
"Correct," LtCol Sparr confirmed. Moments later, two troop carriers appeared. The soldiers immediately pointed their guns at the vehicles as the hatches opened and two figures stuck their heads out.
"Sergeant Hartley reporting," she said.
"Sergeant Hunter reporting," he added.
"Password?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"We quell the storm," Sergeant Hartley replied.
"And ride the thunder," Sergeant Hunter continued.
"3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines," LtCol Sparr acknowledged. She turned to the soldiers. "Lower your guns."
The soldiers obeyed, lowering their weapons as the new soldiers disembarked from the troop carriers.
"A group of you will fortify White Sands Missile Range," LtCol Sparr ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" the new soldiers responded.
"Everyone else, prepare to move out," she added. It didn't take long before the United Legion was on the move again.
Scene Change: Texas
The United Legion had been traveling for two hours, finally crossing into Texas. They could see a few cities on the horizon but decided to avoid them.
"Ma'am, this is Lieutenant Castle," a voice came through the radio.
"What is it, Lieutenant?" LtCol Sparr replied.
"We've spotted an unknown armored truck heading toward us," he reported.
"Does it have any markings?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"There's a white skull with a green snake on the grill," Lieutenant Castle said.
"They're an ally," LtCol Sparr said. She immediately ordered the United Legion to stop. Ten minutes later, the armored truck caught up with them and stopped at the front. Yasutora 'Chad' Sado and Quetzalcoatl stepped out.
"I'm Yasutora Sado, Guild Leader of Tutor Gigante. This is my wife and Vice Guild Leader, Quetz," he introduced.
"Nice to meet both of you. I'm LtCol Sparr, currently commanding the United Army," she replied.
Chad pulled out a set of keys and pressed a button, causing the armored truck to disappear.
"Guild Leader Reyna, is it all right if my wife and I ride with you?" he asked.
"I can sense divine energy from her. Maybe she's a demigod?" Reyna thought.
"That's fine," Reyna answered. Chad and Quetz climbed into Reyna's chariot, and the United Legion resumed their journey.
Scene Change: Fort Hood: Command Center
"General Hale, the Western Outpost and the Sea Outpost aren't responding to our communications," a soldier reported.
"I see… it seems our intelligence was correct," General Hale replied.
"Should we raise the alarm?" the soldier asked.
"Colonel Strucker, do we have any sightings of the enemy?" she asked, turning to another soldier monitoring the screen.
"Radar indicates an unidentified convoy moving toward us," Colonel Strucker reported.
"How far out are they, Colonel Strucker?" General Hale asked.
"Approximately 100 miles (160.934 kilometers)," he said.
"Colonel Strucker, inform the soldiers and hunters to enter Code Red but do not raise the alarm. Colonel Scarlotti, make sure the alarms and defense systems remain deactivated," she ordered.
"Yes, ma'am," they both responded.
"All soldiers and hunters, armor up for Code Red. Do not raise the alarm. I repeat, armor up for Code Red. Do not raise the alarm," Colonel Strucker announced. Colonel Scarlotti ensured that no alarms or defensive systems were triggered. Once everything was in place, both colonels left the Command Center. General Hale called someone.
"Greetings, General Hale," a well-dressed Caucasian man answered.
"Greetings, Doctor Wolfgang von Strucker," she replied.
"What can I do for you?" he asked.
"I want Project Abomination activated," she said.
"Very well," Doctor von Strucker said. "My latest enhancement to Project Abomination needed testing, anyway. Is there anything else?"
"I'm authorizing the activation of Project Ragnarök."
"Oh?" Doctor von Strucker responded. "Your authorization password?"
"Romeo Uniform India November," she said.
"I'll inform General Pierce and Doctor Reinhardt of your request," he replied.
"Good," General Hale said, hanging up. She stood up and walked into her private office, where she suited up in a black and silver full-body battle suit, complete with a helmet. She loaded two pistols and holstered them at her waist. When she returned to the Command Center, Colonel Scarlotti and Colonel Strucker were both suited up in similar battle gear.
"Time to wait for them," General Hale said, watching the United Legion approach the base on the monitors.
Scene Change: Outside Fort Hood
The United Legion approached Fort Hood, surprised by the lack of alarms or increased security.
"Strange," LtCol Sparr muttered. "I expected Fort Hood to be on high alert after the fall of both White Sands Missile Range and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi."
"Well, we did prevent any communication from coming out of White Sands Missile Range," Tony said.
"But the fact that Fort Hood hasn't received any communication from White Sands is suspicious in itself," LtCol Sparr admitted.
"Corpus Christi also appeared abandoned when we arrived there," Chad added.
"It was?" LtCol Sparr began to think. "United Legion, prepare for battle. Assume the enemy is aware of us and prepared to ambush us," she commanded. The United Legion immediately stood ready, waiting for the signal. Once everyone was prepared, the Legion moved closer to Fort Hood. Suddenly, the turrets on Fort Hood activated and began firing.
"Shields!" Tony shouted. The Ferrum Legion raised their shields, protecting everyone from the turret's bullets.
"Die!" the nearby sentries screamed as they pressed a button, causing the ground beneath the Legion to explode.
"Get back!" LtCol Sparr yelled. The United Army quickly retreated from the blast zone, while the Legion Fulminata failed to react in time.
"Ferrum Legion, rescue them!" Tony ordered as he grabbed Reyna, Chad, and Quetz and lifted them out of the pit. The rest of the Ferrum Legion followed his lead, swooping down and rescuing the fallen members of Legion Fulminata. The chariots, pulled by automatons and skeleton horses, crashed into the pit as well. Reyna and the others glared at the enemy.
"We're not going to let this stop us," she said, her eyes glowing with vengeance. The others in Legion Fulminata shared her fury.
"Tony, fly us to them," Reyna ordered.
Tony sighed. "Ferrum Legion, fly us to the enemy," he commanded. The Ferrum Legion took to the air, quickly soaring out of the pit and landing on the other side. The turrets immediately opened fire.
"Shield rush!" Tony called. The Ferrum Legion charged toward the main gate, shields raised.
"CHARGE!" Reyna yelled.
"CHARGE!" The rest of the Legion Fulminata roared as they ran behind the Ferrum Legion. A few of the Model Gladiī broke away from the formation and destroyed the turrets.
"Kill the enemy!" a hunter shouted, charging toward them with a massive axe. Reyna summoned her golden spear and blocked his attack with an upward strike, knocking him off balance. She then stabbed the spear into his head, piercing his skull. Withdrawing the spear, she shouted, "Kill them all!"
A red aura surrounded her.
"KILL!" the rest of Legion Fulminata roared, their bodies glowing red as well. In the distance, Tony watched as the Legion Fulminata slaughtered any soldiers or hunters in their way.
"I almost feel sorry for them," Tony thought.
"I surrender!" one of the hunters yelled, dropping his weapon. To his shock, the enraged Legion Fulminata ignored him and continued their rampage, running right past him. Seeing this, the remaining soldiers and hunters quickly dropped their weapons in surrender.
Tony and the Ferrum Legion grabbed the surrendered enemy and flew them to LtCol Sparr.
"I'm surprised Legion Fulminata became berserkers when they lost their chariots," LtCol Sparr admitted.
"I think there's more to it," Tony replied as the Ferrum Legion continued to carry prisoners. "I did some research on the Roman Pantheon when we started working together," he began. "The Romans believed in an honorable battle over trickery and deceit (2). The act of planting bombs below them must have enraged them. I also think their pride is what drives them to overcome such deceit," Tony theorized.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rang out. Tony and LtCol Sparr turned just in time to see a giant monster burst from the building. It stood over ten feet tall, its head resembling that of a bull with a gleaming brass ring through its nostrils, cruel black eyes, and enormous black and white horns. Its body was muscular and covered in dull green skin.
"A minotaur (3)," Reyna recognized.
"DIE!" the monster roared, charging toward the Legion Fulminata.
"Wait… minotaurs can't speak English, can they?" Reyna questioned.
"What's the plan?" Tony asked, turning to Reyna.
"We'll take care of the minotaur. Tony, take care of the rest of the enemy!" Reyna ordered.
"Got it!" Tony yelled, leading the Ferrum Legion into the building to continue the mission.
"Lord Mars, Mother, please bless us in this fight," Reyna prayed as the Legion Fulminata charged toward the minotaurus. The beast roared and charged toward them.
"Father, give me strength!" Platinum shouted as she swung her large sledgehammer at the minotaurus's shin. There was a loud crack as she broke its shin.
"RAHAHAH!" the minotaur howled in pain, clutching its broken leg.
"Boost!" Reyna ordered, running toward Platinum. Platinum dropped the sledgehammer and cupped her hands together to create a foothold. Reyna jumped into her hands and was thrown forward at the minotaur. As she flew through the air, Reyna raised her spear and aimed for the minotaur's head. To everyone's shock, the spear failed to pierce the beast's skin.
"That's not enough," the minotaur growled as it slowly stood to its full height. It grabbed Reyna and threw her to the ground with incredible force, embedding her into the earth.
"How did the minotaur recover so quickly?" Platinum asked as she pulled Reyna back up.
"That's not a normal minotaur," Chad said. The rest of the Legion Fulminata turned to him.
"I've fought a few minotaurs in dungeons. Most of them were gray or brown. This one has a dull green color," Quetz pointed out. Reyna's eyes widened.
"You think…" she began.
"Its shin's no longer broken," Chad added.
"A fusion of a minotaur and an ogre," Reyna concluded.
"Let me try," Chad said, as his arms were covered in a strange liquid that quickly solidified into armor. His right arm was covered in sleek black armor with magenta highlights, a shield protecting his forearm. His left arm was armored in white with a red stripe down the center, and red diamond-shaped marks decorated his fingertips. A spike protruded from his shoulder, with two additional claw-like spikes extending over his chest.
"El Directo!" Chad called, his right arm glowing blue as he charged toward the minotaurus. The monster noticed him and swung a powerful punch in his direction. Chad dodged the attack and retaliated, landing a punch directly on the minotaur's freshly healed shin.
"Rah!" The minotaur roared in pain.
"El Inverso [The Reverse]!" Chad shouted. His left arm glowed blue, similar to El Directo, as he punched the minotaurus's other shin.
"RAH!" the minotaur bellowed as it fell to its knees. Chad raised his left hand and five blue disks of crackling spiritual energy formed in front of his fingertips. He clenched his fist, and blue reiatsu surrounded it.
"La Muerte!" Chad yelled, launching a devastating punch to the minotaurus's forehead. Its head exploded, sending blood and gore everywhere. The remains splattered on the ground, forming a grotesque shape resembling a skull.
"You okay, Maestro?" Quetz asked.
"I'm good," Chad replied. The Ferrum Legion regrouped around him and Quetz. They then entered the headquarters, noticing the damage to the walls from the previous battle between the Ferrum Legion and the Liberation Army. In the distance, the sound of a fight reached their ears. They rushed over to find Tony locked in combat with General Hales, both trapped within an energy barrier. Four members of the Ferrum Legion stood off to the side, observing.
"Centurion Reyna, what should we do?" Victoria asked.
"Are you able to talk?" Platinum asked one of the Model Gladii.
"We can," the Model Gladius responded in a monotone voice.
"Have you detained all the enemy forces yet?" Reyna inquired.
"The remaining 26 members of Ferrum Legion are finishing that task," the Model Gladius replied.
"Will you stay here until the barrier is down?" Reyna asked.
"We will," the Model Gladius confirmed.
"We'll inform Lieutenant Colonel Sparr about the situation," Reyna said. While she spoke with the Model Gladius, Chad approached the barrier.
"What are you doing, Maestro?" Quetz asked.
"I think I can break this barrier," Chad replied.
"Okay," Quetz said, nodding.
"Before you leave," Chad called out, stopping Reyna. "I want to try something."
"You think you can break the barrier?" Reyna asked.
"I want to try," Chad answered.
"Sure," she said. Chad closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as his body became surrounded by magenta reiatsu, tinged with black and white.
"Levántate Demoníaco Gigante [Arise Demonic Giant," Chad declared, opening his eyes. In an instant, he was engulfed in a whirlwind of reiatsu, and when it dissipated, a new form emerged. His entire body was now covered in primary white armor. A white mask wrapped around his head, with six black spike-like marks: two near his forehead, two extending past his eyes and teeth, and two around his nose. Two white spikes protruded from each shoulder, and four claw-like spikes extended over his chest. His forearms were armored with shields: his right shield was adorned with magenta rose tribal markings, and his left with a red skull tribal mark. As Chad pulled back his right hand, the rose markings glowed, releasing black reiatsu from the sides of the shield, making it resemble the exhaust of a car engine.
"Puño de Gigante [Punch of the Giant]!" Chad roared, punching the barrier with full force. Cracks spread across it, forming a rose-shaped pattern. The cracks continued to widen until the barrier shattered completely. The destruction halted Tony and General Hales mid-fight.
"Ferrum Legion, detain her!" Tony commanded with a smirk. The four members of the Ferrum Legion immediately dove toward General Hales. She turned to flee, but the Ferrum Legion grabbed her by the arms, lifting her off the ground and carrying her back to Tony. She struggled to break free, but Tony fired a blast of energy at her face, knocking her unconscious.
"Get her to Lieutenant Colonel Sparr," Tony ordered.
"Lieutenant Colonel has a message for you," the Model Gladius interjected.
"What is it?" Tony asked.
"The rest of the Ferrum Legion has finished exploring and capturing all enemy forces in the base. Please return when you are done," the Model Gladius reported.
"Okay," Tony replied. Chad sealed his power and returned to his normal state. The group exited the base, and the remaining Ferrum Legion joined them on the other side of the pit, helping to carry everyone across. The Legion Fulminata noticed that their war chariots, abandoned at the bottom of the pit, had been retrieved.
"Thank you," Reyna said.
"No problem," Tony replied.
"Legion Fulminata, check your war chariots," Reyna ordered.
"Yes, Centurion Reyna!" they responded, rushing toward their chariots.
"Seems like everyone's okay," LtCol Sparr observed, walking toward them.
"We are," Tony said. "The Legion Fulminata is checking their war chariots." One of the automaton horses stood up, functioning normally. A group of Legion Fulminata gathered and held their hands together in prayer. Reyna approached them, waiting patiently until they finished.
"Did Lord Mars answer?" Reyna asked.
"Lord Mars didn't reply," one of the demigods answered.
"I see…" Reyna said softly. She then called out, "Centurion Platinum!"
"Coming!" Platinum replied, running toward Reyna. "Yes, Centurion Reyna?"
"I need you and the other blacksmiths to pair up the war chariots and attach them," Reyna instructed.
"Very well," Platinum said. Turning to the rest of the Legion Fulminata, she ordered, "Everyone without an automaton horse, pair up with someone who has one!"
"Yes, Centurion Platinum!" they replied in unison.
"Centurion Reyna," LtCol Sparr said.
"Yes, Lieutenant Colonel?" Reyna responded.
"How long will it take for Legion Fulminata to make the necessary changes?" she asked.
"Maybe twenty minutes," Reyna guessed.
"I'll deal with the prisoners in the meantime," LtCol Sparr said, walking toward the troop carrier.
"Ma'am, Troop Carrier One is ready to go," Sergeant Hartley reported.
"Troop Carrier Two is also ready to go," Sergeant Hunter added.
"Sergeant Hartley, the password is 'The nation which forgets its.' Sergeant Hunter, the password is 'defenders will be itself forgotten,'" LtCol Sparr instructed.
"Yes, ma'am!" the Sergeants replied. They pulled their heads back into the troop carrier and closed the doors. Suddenly, the troop carriers disappeared. Moments later, the troop carriers reappeared. The soldiers immediately pointed their guns at the vehicles. The hatches opened, and two women stuck their heads out.
"Staff Sergeant Morse reporting," one said.
"Staff Sergeant Hill reporting," the other added.
"Password?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"The only thing we—" Staff Sergeant Morse began.
"Have to fear is fear itself," Staff Sergeant Hill finished.
"President Franklin D. Roosevelt," LtCol Sparr answered. She turned to the soldiers. "Lower your guns."
All the soldiers lowered their guns. The soldiers began exiting the troop carrier.
"A group of you will fortify Fort Hood," LtCol Sparr ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" the new soldiers responded, enthusiastic.
"Centurion Reyna?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"We are ready to move," Reyna reported.
"Good. Everyone else, get ready to move," LtCol Sparr commanded. It didn't take long before the United Legion left Fort Hood.
Scene Change: Fort Bragg
Two men stood, watching a monitor that displayed security footage of the United Legion attacking Fort Hood.
"What do you think, Doctor Reinhardt?" one of the men asked.
"This will be an interesting test for Project Ragnarök," Doctor Reinhardt replied. "But General Pierce, should we worry about the other problem?" He pressed a button, revealing a map of the Liberation Army's territory. A red dotted line extended from Fort Hood. "It seems like they're moving towards Southeast Outpost."
"So, it seems there are a few rats among us," General Pierce muttered, pressing a button. Moments later, a knock echoed through the room.
"Enter," General Pierce said.
The door opened to reveal a Caucasian man.
"Colonel Lohmer, reporting as ordered," Colonel Lohmer said.
"Colonel, order all personnel stationed at Southeast Outpost to return to Liberation Headquarters," General Pierce instructed.
"Yes, sir!" Colonel Lohmer replied.
"Do you have anything else for me?" he asked.
"No," General Pierce answered.
"By your leave," Colonel Lohmer said, exiting the office.
"Who do you think is the rat?" Doctor Reinhardt asked.
"In the end, it doesn't matter," General Pierce said. "We will still be victorious."
Scene Change: United Legion
The United Legion continued its eastward march.
"Lieutenant Colonel Sparr, where are we going?" Reyna asked.
"We're heading to a city called Monroe in Louisiana," LtCol Sparr answered.
"Are we meeting up with the Secret Garden Guild and the Valhalla Guild?" Reyna asked.
"Correct," LtCol Sparr replied. The convoy pressed on, crossing out of Texas and into Louisiana. They soon spotted a group of military trucks blocking the road. The United Legion stopped a few feet away from the trucks.
"Identify yourself!" someone shouted from the trucks.
"I am Lieutenant Colonel Sparr. Who are you?" LtCol Sparr responded.
"I am Lieutenant Colonel Hand," came the reply.
"Password?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"From time to time, the tree of liberty…" LtCol Hand began.
"Must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots," LtCol Sparr finished.
"President Thomas Jefferson," they said in unison. LtCol Sparr turned to the United Legion.
"Resume moving. We are joining LtCol Hand's forces," she ordered. The United Legion began moving again, merging with LtCol Hand's forces.
Minutes later, LtCol Sparr, LtCol Hand, Tony, Reyna, Chad, Magnus Chase, Uryū, and four soldiers gathered in a tent, studying a map.
"Um… who are these soldiers?" Reyna asked.
"I'm Sergeant Triplett," said the first man.
"I'm Sergeant Nelson," the second man introduced himself.
"I'm Sergeant Lange," said the third.
"I'm Sergeant Hayward," the fourth man said.
"These Sergeants will be the assigned drivers for the Valhalla Guild and the Secret Garden Guild," LtCol Hand explained.
"Sorry for the question," Reyna said.
"It's understandable," LtCol Hand replied. LtCol Sparr and LtCol Hand exchanged updates on their situation.
"I believe we should proceed with caution," LtCol Sparr concluded.
"I agree," LtCol Hand responded.
"Our final destination is Fort Bragg in North Carolina," LtCol Sparr announced.
"We will move out in T minus ten minutes," LtCol Hand ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" the soldiers replied, acknowledging the orders. They hurried off to prepare.
Soon, the larger United Legion force was ready to move out.
Scene Change: Fort Bragg: Command Center
In the command center, General Pierce observed a map of the United States.
"Colonel Malick, any update regarding the enemy movement?" General Pierce asked.
"One moment, sir," a young Caucasian woman replied. "This is Mission Control. First Squad, do you read me? Over."
"Mission Control. This is First Squad, over," a young man responded.
"Any update on the enemy? Over," the woman asked.
"The enemy is maintaining speed and direction. They will arrive in T minus one hour. Over."
"Received. Mission Control, over and out," Captain Malick ended the radio communication. She turned to General Pierce. "Sir, the enemy is inbound in T minus one hour."
"Excellent," General Pierce said. "Have everyone prepare for battle."
"Yes, sir!" Captain Malick replied as she raised the alarm. General Pierce turned on the radio. "Doctor, is Project Ragnarök ready?"
"I just finished the final touches on Project Ragnarök," Doctor Reinhardt replied.
"Excellent," General Pierce responded. "I've also had my assistants distribute the Centipede Serum."
"Even better. Those fools won't expect it," General Pierce said as he ended the call.
"It's unfortunate that the Magic Army was defeated. They would have been a great help to us," he muttered. Suddenly, the base shook.
"Sir, the enemy has begun to attack the wall," another soldier reported.
"Colonel Rollins, order the troops to engage the enemy," General Pierce ordered.
"Yes, sir," Colonel Rollins replied. "This is Mission Control. Attack the enemy," he broadcasted through the radio.
"Let the games begin," General Pierce thought as he stood up and left the Command Center.
Scene Change: Outside Fort Briggs
The United Legion moved closer to Fort Briggs. The Children of Apollo, The Ferrum Legion, and the United Army began launching long-range attacks at the base. They watched as cracks began to form on the outer wall.
"Good. Keep up the attack," LtCol Sparr ordered. The wall crumbled as the United Legion closed in.
"Attack!" someone yelled from inside the base. Armed hunters charged out of the base toward the United Legion, with soldiers following behind, firing rounds at them.
"Why do they always fire bullets?" Tony thought.
"Barrier!" Tony ordered. The Ferrum Legion flew in front of the United Legion and created an energy barrier, blocking the incoming bullets.
"Engage with the enemy!" Reyna yelled. The Legion Fulminata jumped out of their war chariots and began to attack the enemy.
"For the God!" Reyna yelled.
"Don't forget about us!" Magnus shouted.
"Óðinn á yðr alla!" [Odin owns you all!] the rest of the Valhalla Guild yelled as they jumped out of the trucks and charged into battle.
"Provide support," Uryū said to the members of Secret Garden.
"Yes, sir," they responded, joining the fray. Quetz looked at Chad.
"You want to join?" Chad guessed.
"Can I, Maestro?" Quetz asked.
"Sure," Chad replied. Quetz grabbed her macuahuitl and joined the fight. The enemy soldiers were quickly overwhelmed by the United Legion.
"Captain, let's use it," one of the enemy hunters said as he pulled out an auto-injectable vial filled with orange liquid.
"Do it," the captain replied, pulling out his own vial. The hunters injected the orange liquid into their bodies.
"RAHAH!" The hunters roared as their veins bulged and glowed orange. They recklessly charged toward the United Legion, attacking with wild ferocity, abandoning any defense against the United Legion's counterattacks. This sudden shift in tactics startled some members of the United Legion.
Uryū gathered his reiatsu and formed a Heilig Bogen. It resembled a war bow, about his height, with semi-straight arms tapering off into points and a thinner handle. The bow had four long prongs and two spikes extending from the center. Uryū pulled back the string, forming a light blue arrow. He released the string, and the arrow split into five separate projectiles, each piercing the skull of an enemy hunter, killing them instantly.
"I got your back," Chad said.
"Thanks," Uryū replied, as he continued to fire arrows at the remaining hunters. With Uryū's help, they eliminated all the drugged hunters and forced the soldiers to surrender.
"You haven't lost your touch," Chad said. The Scavenger Guild began transporting the surrendered soldiers back to the convoy.
"Let's continue the invasion," Reyna suggested.
"Agreed," Magnus said.
"Second," Tony added. Everyone proceeded deeper into the base, remaining alert for any dangers. The door in front of them opened, and a tall, well-built Caucasian man stepped out. He had blue eyes, and golden blonde hair, and wore a skintight dark blue jumpsuit that highlighted his muscular build, complete with golden shoulder and wrist pads. He held a golden helmet in his arms.
"This is as far as you can go," the man said.
"Impossible," a young woman's voice responded. A tall, burly young woman with pale blue eyes and snow-blonde hair braided down her shoulders stepped forward. She wore armor with a bandolier of ball-peen hammers and pulled out a golden hammer pendant from beneath her armor, allowing everyone to see it. "Father."
"Who are you to call me father?" the man demanded.
"I am Gunilla, daughter of Thor," she introduced herself. "You are Thor, son of Odin," she declared.
"I'm sorry, but you must be mistaken," the man said. "My name is Ragnarök, and I am here to stop you." He said this as he put on his golden helmet. He charged toward the United Legion, appearing suddenly in front of them, and punched one of the Legion Fulminata. The force of the punch killed the unfortunate demigod and sent his body flying, knocking seven others off their feet.
"I'll knock some sense into you!" Gunilla yelled as she summoned a club hammer and swung it at Ragnarök. The blow knocked him into a nearby wall. Gunilla charged toward him, continuing her assault.
Magnus turned to Reyna.
"I'm sorry, but the Valhalla Guild cannot proceed until Lord Thor is returned to our headquarters," Magnus said.
"I understand," Reyna responded. The rest of the United Legion followed Reyna.
"RAH!" Ragnarök yelled, unleashing an energy burst that sent Gunilla flying to the other side of the wall.
"Óðinn á yðr alla!" Magnus roared.
"Óðinn á yðr alla!" the rest of the Valhalla Guild echoed as they charged toward Ragnarök. Some used elemental attacks, while others swung their weapons at him. Ragnarök swerved to the side, dodging all of the attacks. He countered by punching any demigod in his way, instantly killing them with the force of his blows.
"Lord Odin, please help us defeat this mind-controlled Lord Thor," Gunilla prayed, watching Ragnarök's rampage. She charged in, swinging her hammer at Ragnarök's face. The force of the blow forced his head to turn. She swung again, using her twisted body to increase the impact. Ragnarök surprisingly caught her hammer. He pulled his fist back and punched Gunilla in the face, sending her flying through the wall. Gunilla could feel blood beginning to drip from her forehead.
"I guess this is it," Gunilla thought as her vision began to darken. "Sucks that I never bonded with an einherjar."
"Granddaughter," a voice echoed in Gunilla's mind.
"Lord Odin?" Gunilla thought, recognizing his voice.
"Do you wish to help your father?" he asked.
"I do," she admitted.
"Then reach out and grab it," Odin said.
Gunilla extended her hand. Suddenly, she felt a handle in front of her. She grabbed it. The world around her glowed white. Ragnarök was killing another demigod when the bright light blinded him, forcing him to raise his hand to shield his eyes. The light dimmed, revealing a fully healed Gunilla. She was dressed in black armor with silver circles along the torso and silver chainmail sleeves. Red wristbands, a large golden belt, blue pants, and matching blue shoes completed her new look. In her hand was a hammer with runic designs swirling across the metal and a stubby handle bound in leather (4).
She thrust the hammer forward, pointing it at Ragnarök. Large bolts of electricity shot from the hammer, striking Ragnarök. He failed to react in time and was electrocuted. Gunilla flew toward the stunned Ragnarök and swung her hammer at his face. The blow slammed him to the ground. She raised her hammer again and swung down, but when she saw Ragnarök's face, she realized he was unconscious. She turned to Magnus.
"Go," he said.
She slipped the leather strap around her wrist, picked up the unconscious Ragnarök, and flew away.
Magnus turned to the rest of the Valhalla Guild. "What's our body count?" he asked.
"We started with 30 einherjar and we're down to 15," a petite girl reported. She had heterochromia, with one dark brown and one pale amber eye, and green hair.
"Thank you, Alex," Magnus replied. "And the Valkyries?"
"We're down to 20, not including Gunilla," another young woman said. She wore a green hijab draped around her neck, covering the top of her head, and had brownish amber eyes.
"Thank you, Sam," Magnus said. "Take your time to heal. Once we're ready, we'll join up with the rest of the United Legion."
Scene Change: With the United Legion
Reyna, Tony, Chad, Uryū, and their guilds walked past Ragnarök. They could hear the shockwaves from their battle.
"Is it a good idea to leave them?" Tony asked.
"We have to," Reyna replied. "This has become the Valhalla Guild's personal business."
They arrived in a large room filled with soldiers and hunters. All of them had glowing orange veins. General Pierce stood at the front, dressed in fully jet-black body armor adorned with purple and golden markings. A red cape flowed from his back, and two large swords hung at his side.
"Attack the enemy!" he ordered.
"DIE!" the soldiers and hunters roared as they charged toward the United Legion. Everyone prepared for battle. Chad glanced at Uryū, who had already drawn his bow.
"You got this?" Chad asked.
"Do you need to even ask?" Uryū replied, using Hirenkyaku to launch himself into the air. He began firing an endless barrage of arrows at the enemy. The hunters tried their best to block the arrows, while the soldiers attempted to retreat, realizing they had no way to stop them. But Uryū's arrows pierced through their armor with ease.
"Quetz, can you astralize and sneak over to the boss and knock him out?" Chad asked.
"Sure, Maestro," Quetz replied.
"Make sure you dodge Uryū's attacks, I don't want you to get accidentally hit," Chad warned.
"Okay, Maestro," Quetz responded. While Uryū continued his assault, Quetz astralized and jumped toward General Pierce. She stood right behind him, her macuahuitl raised.
"I'm in position," she reported.
After five minutes of relentless fire, all the enemy hunters and soldiers were killed.
"Dammit!" General Pierce yelled in anger.
"Now," Chad said. Before General Pierce could react, Quetz appeared behind him and struck him with the blunt side of her macuahuitl. The surprise blow knocked him off his platform, sending him crashing face-first to the ground. Quetz jumped onto his back, pressing her knee into his shoulder blades.
"Good job, Quetz," Chad said.
"Thank you, Mastero," she replied.
Reyna pulled out a set of handcuffs and wrapped them around General Pierce's arms.
"Incoming call from Lieutenant Colonel Sparr," one of the Model Gladius units announced.
"Answer it," Tony said. The Model Gladius's eyes glowed.
"Hello?" Tony answered.
"Tony, do you need reinforcements?" LtCol Sparr asked.
"I don't think so. We just captured General Pierce," Tony said.
"Were you able to capture any more prisoners?" she asked.
"No," Tony replied.
"Have one of your Ferrum Legion escort General Pierce back while the rest of you finish searching the base," LtCol Sparr ordered.
"Sure," Tony responded. "Anything else?"
"No," LtCol Sparr said before hanging up.
Tony ordered two Model Gladiī and Ferrum Pilae to escort General Pierce. Meanwhile, the rest of the United Legion continued searching the base. They found Doctor Reinhardt hiding in a secret laboratory, filled with people floating in test tubes. Reinhardt was quickly detained before he could act. Afterward, everyone exited the base. On their way out, they regrouped with the Valhalla Guild. Outside, they spotted the Scavenger Guild, Mystic Force, Spartans, and Shark Empire also gathered.
LtCol Sparr noticed the Legion Fulminata and Valhalla Guild carrying their casualties.
"I believe Operation United We Stand is complete," Reyna said.
"Your part is done," LtCol Sparr replied. "President Ellis will organize a press conference in a few hours to discuss the operation." All the guilds nodded and slowly began to portkey away.
Tier returned to Hawaii with the rest of her guild. She dismissed them before opening a Garganta and entering it.
Scene Change: Ichigo's Estate
Tier exited the Garganta and walked toward Ichigo's office. She knocked on his door.
"Ichigo? It's me, Tier," she said. She didn't hear a reply. She opened the door and peeked inside but didn't see him.
"Good morning, Tier-sama," a voice said. Tier turned to see Sakuya standing there.
"Hello, Sakuya. Do you know where Ichigo is?" she asked.
"Ichigo-sama is currently away. He will return soon," Sakuya replied. Her eyes widened as she sensed the dimensional gate activating. "I believe he's back."
They walked toward the front of the house and arrived outside just as Ichigo's car pulled up. Ichigo stepped out of the car.
"Good morning, Ichigo-sama," Sakuya said, bowing to him.
"Good morning, Sakuya," he replied. He looked up and saw Tier. "Morning, Tier," he said, walking over and giving her a quick kiss.
"Morning, Ichigo," she replied. "We just finished the operation. President Ellis will host a press conference to talk about it."
"Good," Ichigo said. He walked over and opened the passenger door. They could see an unconscious young woman with green hair, dressed in a shihakushō that ended just below her waist, with a white band around her waist and knee-high white socks. Ichigo carefully picked her up.
"Sakuya, please place her in a guest room," Ichigo instructed.
"Yes, Ichigo-sama," Sakuya said as she slipped her arms underneath the young woman. Ichigo let go of her, and Sakuya carried the woman inside.
Ichigo turned to Tier. "Do you need anything else from me?" he asked.
"No," Tier said, stifling a yawn.
"Do you think you'll be fine in a few hours?" Ichigo asked.
"Why?" Tier asked, looking at him.
"I want to call another inner war council," Ichigo said.
"I'll be there," Tier replied, yawning again.
"Do you need my help?" Ichigo asked.
"No, I've got it," she replied, staggered but determined, and made her way inside the estate.

I decided to change the Mandarin to Al-Qaeda to make it more realistic.
Not sure if this is true. When Hermes became Mercury, Romans envisioned Mercury more as the god of commerce and trade rather than just being a god of thievery and travel.
Minotaurus is the Roman variation of Minotaur.
