Opening Scene: End of Chapter 89
(Ichigo spent a week this universe's amount of time in Universe 2091313)
Akasha escorted all the refugees to a ballroom. The ballroom had a set of chairs for everyone to sit in. In front of the chairs was a small podium. Akasha looked at the refugees. "Everyone, please sit down," Akasha said. Luckily, Chishiki made sure everyone knew American English and Japanese before exiting Haō Zaimushō. Everyone silently sat down and paid attention to Akasha, who stood in front of the small podium. "Good evening, everyone. My name is Akasha Bloodriver, one of Ichigo's fiancées," she began. "Ichigo told me that, due to various reasons, you have chosen to leave Universe 2091313 and come to our universe." Yuri Alpha passed out a small packet of papers and waited until everyone received it. "Ichigo may have let all of you know ahead of time that the majority of the people on this planet have powers," Akasha continued. "I, for example, am a vampire who has lived for over six centuries," Akasha said as she created a sword made of her blood. She absorbed the blood and continued, "Anyways, some of you may have different career paths available based on your past experience. But a few options that are open to everyone are becoming an Adventurer. If you are curious about being an Adventurer, please turn to page three of your packet." Everyone flipped to page three of the packet. "Adventurers can do all kinds of tasks, such as exploring new parts of our world, hunting down monsters per requests, or escorting merchants to other parts of the world."
"What about those who prefer a quiet job?" Pamela Isley, known as Poison Ivy, asked.
"You are Dr. Pamela Isley, correct?" Akasha asked.
"I am," she replied. Akasha quickly found the report on her.
"As mentioned before, some people may have more options available based on their past experience," Akasha said. "For you, as a botanist, we may have you work either as a potion brewer, a farmer, or a biologist," Akasha replied.
"How about those who are less educated than others?" Caitlin Snow asked, raising Giganta's hand.
"We will judge on a case-by-case basis," Akasha replied. "We are still developing and can use all the help we can get."
Another person raised her hand. Akasha pointed at her. "What about those who specialize in the magical arts?"
"You are Zatanna Zatara, correct?" Akasha asked.
"Correct," Zatanna replied.
"We are in need of engineering researchers," Akasha answered.
"An engineer?" Zatanna questioned.
"Most of our modern technology has short-circuited due to the high density of mana. We currently have engineers, scientists, and magical experts working on reviving 'lost' technology."
"I see…" Zatanna replied.
"Any other questions?" Akasha asked. No one raised their hand. "Now then, I will call each of you up for a short discussion to see what accommodations you need, what you want to do, where you want to do it and to answer any additional questions you may have." Akasha pointed to a door on the side, where Yuri Alpha stood. She walked over to Yuri Alpha, who opened the door to the private room.
"Everything is ready for you, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha said.
"Good," Akasha replied. "Albert Michaels." Albert Michaels, known as Atomic Skull walked in and entered the room. Yuri Alpha closed the door behind him. The room was a rather bare office with a desk and two chairs, one of which was occupied by Akasha. Behind her was Saeko. "Please sit," she said. Albert sat down in the empty chair. "Now, Mister Michaels, according to the notes, you were a scientist who was exposed to experimental radiation."
"I was," Albert nodded his head.
"With Chishiki's help, you were able to not only control the radiation you emit but also absorb other radiation as well," Akasha continued.
"That's correct," Albert replied.
"Due to your background as a scientist, you have three options." Akasha pulled out three sheets of paper. "The first option is becoming an Adventurer." Albert nodded his head.
"What are the other two options?" Albert asked.
"The second one is becoming an engineering researcher," Akasha answered. "Most of our modern technology had short-circuited due to the high density of mana. We are currently having engineers, scientists, and magical experts working on reviving 'lost' technology."
"And the third option?" Albert asked.
"The third option is to pick a job from this list." Akasha slid a folder forward. Albert grabbed the folder and opened it. The folder contained lists of different stores that need help all over the world. "So, what do you want to do now?" Akasha asked.
"I want to be a researcher," Albert said.
"Okay," Akasha said as she wrote down Albert's choice on a piece of paper and placed it inside Albert's folder. She handed the folder to Saeko. "Please escort Mister Michaels to Medea."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied as she took the folder from Akasha. "Please follow me, Mister Michaels." Albert stood up and followed Saeko, who escorted him out through another door. The door opened as Yuri peered her head in.
"Send in Caitlin Snow," Akasha said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri replied as she moved away from the door. "Caitlin Snow." Caitlin Snow walked over to the door, which Yuri opened for her.
"Please sit," Akasha said.
"Thank you," Caitlin replied as she sat down. Yuri Alpha closed the door behind them.
"So, Miss Snow, you were an engineer, but due to the actions of a villainous organization, you were exposed to various chemicals that transformed you into an 'ice vampire that seeks warmth,'" Akasha read.
"Correct," Caitlin replied.
"Chishiki was able to develop a cure for you that allows you to be human and transform into your 'ice vampire' form without the need to seek warmth," Akasha said.
"Correct," Caitlin replied. Akasha proceeded to tell Caitlin her options, which were the same as Albert's. She also decided to be an engineering researcher. By this time, Saeko had already returned and escorted Caitlin Snow out. Barbara Ann Minerva, known as Cheetah; Grace Balin, known as Orca; and Pamela Isley, known as Poison Ivy, were all quickly called in and chosen to be biology researchers, focusing on identifying new plants, working with potioneers to create new potions, and updating older records from other sources.
"Call in Giganta," Akasha said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. "Giganta." Yuri Alpha called. Giganta walked into the office.
"Hello, Giganta," Akasha said.
"Hi," Giganta replied.
"Ichigo said you were a female gorilla genetically engineered into a human woman by Grodd," Akasha said. Giganta looked confused by Akasha's words. "Grodd made you become this," she simplified.
"Yes," Giganta replied.
"What do you want to do?" Akasha asked.
"Live," Giganta replied. Akasha sighed.
"Do you want to fight?"
"No fighting," Giganta replied.
"What about taking care of kids?" Akasha asked.
"Kids?" Giganta looked around. "Where are the kids?"
"We have our maids taking care of them," Akasha replied.
"I can help protect children," Giganta replied. Akasha wrote a note.
"Saeko, please escort Giganta to Kahlua," she said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied.
"Come with me, Giganta," Saeko said. Giganta stood up and followed Saeko out.
"Call in Claire Selton," Akasha said.
"Claire Selton," Yuri Alpha called. Claire Selton, known as Volcana, entered the room and sat down before Akasha could say anything.
"So, Miss Selton," Akasha began.
"Just call me Claire, no need for this polite stuff," she interrupted.
"Okay, Claire," Akasha began. "According to this, you were a regular girl who awakened her pyrokinesis. Your parents sent you to a facility to help you control your powers, only to find out it was a shady government institution recruiting metahumans for military use." Claire nodded, "You then managed to escape the facility and then killed the head of the facility."
"So, what are my options?" she asked.
"You could either be an Adventurer or pick a job from this list." Akasha slid a folder forward. Claire grabbed the folder and opened it. She quickly closed it.
"I'll be an Adventurer," she replied.
"Okay," Akasha said as she wrote a note on Claire's file. She handed the file to Saeko. "Please escort Claire to Raikou."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied. "Please follow me." Saeko escorted Claire out. George Harkness, known as Captain Boomerang; Leslie Willis, known as Livewire; Deanna Clay (1), known as Inque; Bette Sans Souci, known as Plastique; Galatea; Waylon Jones, known as Killer Croc; Mary Worth, known as Bloody Mary; Sandra Wu-San, known as Lady Shiva; Cassandra Wu-San; and Rose Wilson all became Adventurers.
"Call in Harleen Frances Quinzel," Akasha said to Yuri Alpha.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. "Harleen Frances Quinzel." Harleen, formerly known as Harley Quinn, entered the office.
"Please sit," Akasha said.
"Thank you," Harleen replied.
"According to Ichigo's notes, you're a psychiatrist," Akasha began.
"I was," she admitted. "But I got manipulated by a villain who exploited all my insecurities and tricked me into falling for him."
"So, what do you want to do now?" Akasha asked.
"Could I do nothing for a while… to self-reflect on what I want to do now?" she asked.
"You can for a week," Akasha said. "But you need to decide by then."
"Okay," Harleen replied.
"Saeko, please escort Harleen to Sakuya and instruct her to arrange for a room for the week."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied. "Please follow me, Harleen-sama," Saeko said. Sofia Ramos, Holly Denton, and Kamala Khan all decided they also needed a period to self-reflect before making any decisions.
"Call in Giovanni Zatara," Akasha said to Yuri Alpha.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. "Giovanni Zatara," Yuri Alpha called. Giovanni Zatara, former host of Doctor Fate, entered the office.
"Please sit," Akasha said.
"Thank you," he replied.
"Mister Zatara—"
"Akasha-sama, please call me Giovanni. I owe a great debt to your fiancé," Giovanni interrupted.
"In that case, please call me Akasha," she replied.
"As you wish, Akasha," Giovanni said.
"Anyways, according to Chishiki's report, you're a sorcerer, magician, and instructor in the magical arts," Akasha said.
"Correct," Giovanni replied.
"With that in mind, you have four options, besides being an Adventurer," Akasha began.
"The second option is being an engineering researcher," Akasha continued.
"The third option?" Giovanni asked.
"The third option is being an instructor or researcher in the magical arts," Akasha said. "Your magic system is different from the magic systems we have here," she added.
"And the last option?" Giovanni asked.
"The last option is to find a job that interests you from this folder of help-wanted requests," Akasha said.
"Can I discuss this with my daughter when she comes in?" Giovanni asked.
"Sure," Akasha said. "Yuri Alpha." The door opened as Yuri Alpha peeked in.
"Yes, Akasha-sama?" she asked.
"Call in Zatanna Zatara," Akasha ordered.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. Zatanna was quickly called into the office. Akasha quickly told Zatanna her options, which were the same as Giovanni's.
"Daddy, did you not pick because you wanted to hear what I wanted?" she asked.
"I do," Giovanni replied. "Because of that helmet, you lost me for a decade. I just want to spend time with you if you want it."
"Of course," Zatanna replied. She turned to Akasha. "Is it possible for both of us to be Adventurers for some time before retiring and becoming researchers?"
"It is possible," Akasha replied. "But I would suggest a period of being researchers first and then becoming Adventurers."
"Why?" Zatanna asked.
"As I mentioned before, your magic system is different from ours. Not only that, but it appears that your magic does not interfere with technology, making it a potential topic for engineering researchers to investigate."
"I guess we can be researchers in the magical arts," Zatanna said. She looked at Giovanni. "Is that okay, Daddy?"
"Of course," Giovanni said.
"Okay." Akasha wrote something down on both of their folders. "Saeko, please bring them to Medea," Akasha said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied. "Please follow me," Saeko said as she escorted Zatanna and Giovanni away. Raven quickly followed them as a researcher in the magical arts.
"Yuri Alpha, please call in Helena Starr," Akasha asked.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. Helena Starr was quickly called in.
"Please sit, Miss Starr," Akasha said.
"Just call me Helena," Helena replied as she sat down.
"As you wish," Akasha replied.
"So, Helena, with your past work experience in mind, you have three options, one of which includes being an Adventurer," Akasha said.
"Lay it on me," Helena replied.
"You could work as an instructor either in archery or hand-to-hand combat," Akasha said.
"And the other option?" Helena asked.
"The last option is to find a job that interests you from this folder of help-wanted requests," Akasha said.
"Will the instructor positions be open in the future?" Helena asked.
"Most likely, but I can't promise anything," Akasha replied.
"I'll be an Adventurer for now," Helena replied.
"Okay." Akasha wrote something down in Helena's file. "Saeko, please escort Helena to Raikou."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied as she took Helena's file. "Helena, please come with me." Saeko escorted Helena out. Kara Starr, formerly Kara Zor-L and known as Power Girl; Beatriz da Costa, known as Fire; and Tora Olafsdotter, known as Ice, also became Adventurers.
"Call in Tatsu Yamashiro," Akasha said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. Tatsu Yamashiro, known as Katana, entered the office.
"So, Yamashiro-san," Akasha began. "According to Chishiki's report, you are an expert Japanese warrior who possesses a sword that can absorb the souls of its victims."
"Correct, Akasha-sama," Tatsu replied.
"Ichigo was able to free the souls trapped in the sword, which included your husband and children. You decided to swear fealty to him for his actions."
"That is correct, Akasha-sama," Tatsu replied.
"I will not speak for Ichigo regarding this matter, but is there anything you are interested in doing?" Akasha asked. Tatsu paused.
"I want to settle down," Tatsu admitted.
"Hm… would you mind raising foster children?" Akasha asked.
"Raising children?" Tatsu questioned. "I'm not sure."
"Another option is to become a combat instructor," Akasha suggested.
"Are there any other jobs that aren't combat-related?" Tatsu asked.
"You could take a look at these help-wanted requests," Akasha said as she placed the folder on the table. Tatsu opened the folder and began to look at the requests. After five minutes of looking, Tatsu sighed as she closed the folder.
"Do I need to be a combat instructor for the entire time?" she asked.
"Not really," Akasha replied.
"Could I help raise children and be a combat instructor?" Tatsu asked.
"Sure," Akasha replied. "But I recommend focusing on the children first since most of them are very young."
"Okay," Tatsu replied. Akasha wrote something down on Tatsu's file. Afterward, Tatsu was escorted to Kahlua. Talia al Ghul and her children Alexia and Damien were also escorted to Kahlua.
"Yuri Alpha, call in Tinya Wazzo," Akasha said.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied. Tinya Wazzo was soon called, and she entered the office.
"So, Miss Wazzo," Akasha began.
"Please call me Tinya, Akasha-sama. You are much older than me," Tinya replied.
"Very well, Tinya," Akasha replied. "According to Chishiki, you are a heroine in training from the future and were sent back in time."
"Correct," Tinya replied.
"Tinya, as an alien not native to Earth from Universe 2091313, you will be required to spend a month learning all the important things to blend in as an Earthling."
"I understand," Tinya replied.
"With that in mind, there are only two options available for you," Akasha said. "Either be an Adventurer or pick a job from this folder." Tinya opened the folder and read the first flyer.
"I want to be an Adventurer," Tinya replied.
"Very well," Akasha said. "For the one month, you will be living here. Once you pass your test, you may begin your journey as an Adventurer."
"Yes, Akasha," Tinya replied.
"Okay," Akasha said as she wrote a note on Tinya's file. She handed the file to Saeko. "Please escort Tinya to Raikou."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Saeko replied. "Please follow me." Saeko escorted Tinya out. Ayla Ranzz, Eve Aries, She-Ra, Zannah, Glorith, Blackfire, Liona, Cheetara, Pumyra, Ciji, Chian, and Knockout followed suit.
"Yuri Alpha, is that the last of them?" Akasha asked.
"Yes, Akasha-sama," Yuri Alpha replied.
"Thank you," Akasha said as she stood up.
"Raikou, Medea, and Kahlua, these are all the refugees for you to deal with," Akasha said through the peerage connection.
"Saeko. Yuri. Clean up this room."
"Yes, Akasha-sama," they replied as they began to clean the room.
Scene Change: Basement Training Area
Raikou stood on a podium as she waited for the last refugee to arrive from Akasha. Behind her was a paper presentation.
"Raikou, Medea, and Kahlua, these are all the refugees for you to deal with," Raikou heard from Akasha.
"Welcome, everyone, to your Adventurer Orientation. My name is Minamoto no Raikou; for this orientation, call me Raikou-sensei. If you have any questions, please raise your hands," Raikou said. "Please turn to page 4 of your packet." As they flipped to page 4, a maid in the background flipped the paper presentation. "Now then, if you did not already know, our planet is much larger than before. Early estimates suggest that the planet is now double its previous size. More uncharted lands and seas have appeared. New animals, new plants, and new discoveries await, which is the main purpose of us Adventurers."
"According to this, Adventurers also claim bounties or kill rogues," Claire said.
"And you are?" Raikou asked.
"The name's Claire Selton," she replied. Before she could react, Raikou summoned her bow and shot an arrow at her. The arrow hit the chair, barely missing Claire.
"Obedient children raise their hand before speaking," Raikou said as she allowed her bow to dissipate. "As to the aforementioned statement, if you look at page 5, the Adventurer Guild also has missions submitted by the local population. These missions could include collecting herbs for the local Apothecary, hunting down local wildlife, escorting merchants to other cities, or even investigating bandits." Raikou said. Someone raised their hand. "Please tell me your name."
"The name's Waylon Jones," he began. "According to our contract with your boss, we are only allowed to kill people in self-defense unless we decide to become Hunters. This doesn't address being an Adventurer."
"I see… one moment," Raikou replied.
"Ichigo, are you still there?" Raikou asked.
"Yes, I was about to leave," Ichigo replied.
"So, in your contract, you mentioned that they need to be Hunters," Raikou began.
"That's correct," Ichigo replied.
"Can you change Hunter to Adventurer? Adventurer is the new job title instead of Hunter."
"Okay, that's fixed," Ichigo replied.
"Thank you," Raikou replied. She turned to Waylon. "I have just spoken to Ichigo, and he has changed all of your contracts, replacing the word 'Hunter' with 'Adventurer.'" All the villains pulled out their contracts to see that the word had indeed been changed.
"Thank you," Waylon replied.
"No. No good job for asking the question," Raikou replied. "Any other questions? No? Good. Flip to the next page." The next page was filled with letters. "Every Adventurer and mission will have a letter rank assigned to them. The F-rank is the lowest rank, typically for beginners who just started being Adventurers. These missions are usually herb-gathering or easy tasks around town. To promote to E rank, you must hunt down ten F-rank monsters or an E-rank monster by yourself, with a D-ranked Adventurer as a witness. E rank is the next lowest rank. Missions at this level will still include herb-gathering but will also involve hunting F-rank and occasionally E-rank monsters." Someone raised their hand. Raikou pointed at them.
"My name is She-Ra. So, monsters also have their own ranks?" she asked as she lowered her hand.
"Correct," Raikou said. "I will cover monster ranking afterward."
"Oh, okay," She-Ra replied.
"To promote to D rank, you would need to hunt 10 E-rank monsters or a D-rank monster by yourself, with a C-ranked Adventurer as a witness. At D rank, missions will include hunting E-rank monsters, and occasional D-rank monsters, and you may join a party on an escort mission depending on the mission rank. C rank is where things change." The maid flipped to the next page. "To promote to C rank, you must complete a total of 30 D-ranked missions and duel a C-ranked Adventurer. The goal of the duel is to test your capabilities. Winning helps demonstrate your abilities, but it is not a requirement. Promoting to B and A rank follow similar paths, but for S rank, there is a new variable." The maid flipped the page again. "To achieve S rank, you must complete a total of 50 A-ranked missions, participate in a yearly A-ranked tournament where the final eight finalists will be interviewed by a panel of S-ranked Adventurers who will decide if they are worthy of the S rank," Raikou explained. Someone else raised their hand.
"Rose Wilson. Will we all have to begin at F and move our way forward?" Rose asked.
"No," Raikou replied. "Someone can sponsor you to take the promotional duel for a certain rank. This is rarely done because if the sponsee fails the test, it will negatively affect the sponsor."
"So what rank are we then?" Rose asked.
"I don't know," Raikou replied. "But I will address that near the end of this orientation."
"Fine," Rose said. The maid flipped to the next page.
"As mentioned earlier, different monsters will have different ranks to identify their estimated difficulty. The ranks also go from F to S rank. The rank of a monster can vary based on the location where they are found." The maid flipped to the next page. It showed a rectangular card. "This is your Adventure Card. It has your name at the top, your rank in the left-hand corner, your affiliation with a guild if you choose to join one on the right, and an enchantment that validates that this card was issued by the Adventurer Guild in the center background," Raikou explained. Someone else raised their hand.
"My name is Helena. What's a guild?" Helena asked.
"You can think of a guild as a building owner. You pay rent to the building owner, and in return, you can use their building. In this case, the guild may own certain stores that offer you discounts, special status, party members, or access to special missions that are not submitted through the Adventurer Guild," Raikou said.
"I see… even if you join a guild, you can still use the resources provided by the Adventurer Guild?" Helena asked.
"Correct," Raikou replied.
"Thank you," Helena said as she sat down. The maid flipped the paper slideshow back to the beginning, signaling the end of the orientation.
"To determine your initial rank, you will spar with me." Raikou pulled out a metal index card. They could see her name, Minamoto no Raikou, listed there. They could see her rank, which was a golden letter S on the left side. They could see a golden sword, the symbol of the Adventurer Guild, on the right side. Finally, the word "Adventurer Card" was written in Japanese on the back of the card. "So, who wants to fight me first?"
"I will," someone said as she stood up.
"And you are?" Raikou asked.
"Sandra Wu-San," Sandra replied.
"Okay," Raikou replied as she snapped her fingers. A group of maids ran up to the stage and quickly removed the paper presentation, clearing the stage and leaving Raikou alone on stage. Sandra silently walked up. A magical barrier formed around them, protecting the audience from their battle. "The battle will begin when I finish counting down from three."
"Okay," Sandra replied as she drew her swords. Raikou had her katana at her waist while holding a bow in her arms.
"Three… Two… One. Fight!" Raikou shouted. Unsurprisingly, neither of them moved. Both were watching to see who would act first. Raikou made the first move as she drew her bowstring back. Sandra ran towards Raikou. Raikou calmly fired multiple shots of purple lightning arrows. Sandra blocked the incoming attacks with her katanas as she continued her charge. She threw the katana in her left hand at Raikou, who calmly dodged it. Sandra used that moment to jump up in the air with a downward strike. Raikou casually slipped her bow into the katana and jerked Sandra away. She quickly barrel-rolled toward her other katana. Raikou pointed her bow at Sandra and fired more lightning arrows. Sandra jumped to the side, avoiding the arrows. Raikou continued to fire more arrows. Sandra tried to pull a fast one by going in the other direction, but Raikou was too fast; she immediately responded to Sandra's change in direction. Finally, one of Raikou's arrows hit Sandra in the forehead, shocking her. Sandra gritted her teeth as she tried to resist the lightning.
"I think I have seen enough," Raikou calmly said as she lowered her bow.
"I-I can still fight," Sandra said as she gradually regained control of her body.
"No, you can't," Raikou replied as the barrier lowered. "Sandra Wu-San, I give you the B rank."
"Why?" Sandra replied.
"While your martial arts, swordsmanship, and physical prowess are good, you lack any power behind your attacks," Raikou replied. "In this world, there are countless items you can find that can enhance your powers."
"Fine," Sandra said as one of the maids healed her injuries. She silently sat down.
"Now, who is next?" Raikou asked.
"I'll go next," Blackfire said as she stood up. She flew on stage. "And the name is Blackfire."
"Okay, Blackfire," Raikou replied as the barrier appeared. "The battle will begin when I finish counting down from three."
"Okay," Blackfire replied as purple energy gathered around her hands.
"Three… Two… One. Fight!" Raikou shouted. Blackfire flung bolts of purple energy balls at Raikou. She calmly fired back with her arrows. Raikou's arrows and Blackfire's energy balls collided with each other, causing a massive explosion. Blackfire flew through the dust as she tried to find Raikou, only to see she had disappeared. Unbeknownst to Blackfire, Raikou had already jumped up in the air. In her hand was a large black axe with a golden saw-like blade. She slammed it into Blackfire's back, sending her crashing into the stage. Blackfire blindly threw a few energy balls behind her, forcing Raikou to jump away from her. Blackfire stood up. Her eyes glowed with violet energy.
"Eat this!" she yelled as she began to rapid-fire violet energy blasts at Raikou. Raikou switched the axe for a blue spear. She calmly spun the spear and deflected Blackfire's attacks. Blackfire finally stopped her attacks. Raikou rushed in and stabbed her in the chest with her spear. The force from the blow sent Blackfire flying into the barrier.
"*cough*" Blackfire coughed as she slid down to the bottom of the barrier.
"Do you wish to continue?" Raikou asked. Blackfire kicked off from the barrier, propelling herself forward at Raikou. She calmly stepped to the side and swung her spear like a baseball bat. She hit Blackfire's head and sent her flying back to the barrier. Blackfire once again slid to the bottom of the barrier. "Now do you give up?" she asked.
"I do," Blackfire sighed.
"Good," Raikou replied as the barrier was released. The maid walked over and began to treat Blackfire. "Blackfire, I give you the B rank."
"Why?" she asked.
"You are strong. Your energy attacks are impressive as well," Raikou began. "But you are too hotheaded. I've seen stronger Hunters and Adventurers get injured because of that."
"What can I improve on… besides that?" Blackfire asked.
"See if you can do more with your powers," Raikou said. "I don't know the limits of your race, so see what you can do."
"Okay," Blackfire replied as she got off stage.
"Who's next?" Raikou asked. Unsurprisingly, no one volunteered. "In that case, George Harkness," she called.
"Well, let's see how I do," George said as he stood up. He walked on stage, and the battle soon started. George threw his boomerangs at Raikou. She calmly dodged them. George grabbed his boomerangs and threw them at Raikou. She grabbed them and crushed them. George charged in and tried to punch Raikou. She easily caught his fists.
"Is this all?" she asked. George pulled her towards him and tried to kick her. Raikou easily countered by pushing her weight forward, causing George to fall. She freed her hands and wrapped her arm around his neck, performing a headlock.
"I give! I goddamn give!" George shouted. Raikou let him go as he took deep breaths.
"I would say you are an E-rank Adventurer," Raikou said. "You are rather skilled with boomerangs, but you lack the strength to make them effective against E-ranked monsters."
"Got it," George replied as the maid took him off stage.
"Bette Sans Souci," Raikou called. Her test was much shorter and was ranked as an E-rank because her current capability matched a powerless human.
Tinya Wazzo was ranked as a D-rank. Her ability to phase through objects would be interesting; however, she lacks any other physical abilities. However, Raikou did suggest that being an Adventurer who specializes in exploration is not something bad.
She-Ra, Liona, Cheetara, Pumyra, Cassandra Wu-San, Rose Wilson, and Helena Wayne were all ranked as C-rank. All seven of them are skilled in martial arts and their strength is capable of dealing with ordinary humans; they're not strong enough to deal with C-ranked monsters. However, they have the potential to go further. With the help of the Sword of Omens, Liona's abilities are strengthened to match a B-rank, but Liona's body can only handle so much of the sword's power. The same could be said about She-Ra. She needs to further train her body to handle more of the Sword of Protection's power.
Beatriz da Costa, Tora Olafsdotter, Mary Worth, Waylon Jones, and Ciji were ranked as B-rank.
Beatriz da Costa, with her ability to create and manipulate green fire, would make her a formidable Adventurer. She couldn't rank higher because her flames were not strong enough to deal with B-ranked monsters and she lacked the intent to harm others. Tora Olafsdotter and her ability to create and manipulate ice would also make her a formidable Adventurer. Raikou's reasoning for Tora's rank was the same as Beatriz's: lack of power and weak intent.
Waylon Jones's Killer Croc form significantly increases his strength, durability, and senses. The only problem is that the transformation destroys most of Waylon's clothing and makes most weapons he wields useless. Waylon needs to decide if he plans to use his human form or his Killer Croc form as an Adventurer.
Mary Worth also ranked as B-rank. Her blood manipulation is decent and powerful when used correctly. The problem is that her skills were self-taught for survival. She didn't have time to focus on refining her skills.
Ciji's ability to transform into any object, regardless of size, is amazing. Unfortunately, Ciji's transformation is limited to physical capabilities. This means she doesn't have access to Blackfire's powers if Ciji transforms into her. But if she transforms into a bird, she knows how to fly.
Zannah, Knockout, Ayla Ranzz, Eve Aries, Glorith, and Galatea all had the power and ability to be ranked as S-rank Adventurers. Unfortunately for Raikou, she could only give them the A-rank.
Knockout and Zannah are both extremely physically strong. They were able to ignore most of Raikou's attacks, and the force of their attacks could injure an S-ranked monster. While Ayla isn't as physically strong as the others, what she has in return is power. She can manipulate gravity on herself to increase her speed or the force of her attacks. She can also pull or push anything.
Eve Aries's telepathic ability is very powerful. She can easily manipulate the minds of her enemies or control targets with her Psionic energy, all while being on the other side of the planet. Glorith is similar to Ayla in that she isn't as physically strong, but her powers are much stronger than Ayla's. She can manipulate time. Raikou watched as she aged a living chicken to decomposition and back to an egg. She also transformed a guitar into a lute and from the lute into a futuristic guitar.
Galatea and Kara are people that Raikou can't imagine being ordinary. Galatea demonstrated a lot of different and powerful powers. If Galatea masters all of her powers, she would no doubt be on the list of the strongest Adventurers on Earth. Kara has the same powers as Galatea, but she has much more experience with them. Kara would easily be in a higher spot compared to Galatea.
Leslie Willis, Deanna Clay, and Chian were separated to be tested by another instructor. Raikou can manipulate lightning, so all of Leslie's attacks are ineffective against her. As for Deanna and Chian, the opposite is true. Both of their bodies are more liquid-based, making Raikou's lightning attacks super effective against them. Luckily, Nelliel, who is also an S-rank Adventurer, ranked Leslie Willis as a C-rank. Her powers are impressive, but she is still mentally immature and not able to produce electricity; she absorbs electricity from other sources. As for Deanna Clay, Nelliel ranked her as a B-rank. Deanna's Inque form makes her easily camouflage in dark settings, and her body transformation grants her a versatile toolset. The only problem is that she can still feel pain. Also, fire, water, and lightning affect her more. Nelliel ranked Chian as an A-rank. Her abilities to breathe and manipulate water are amazing considering how much of the world is water. She too is weak to lightning. In the middle of Chian's test, a group of people entered the training room.
Scene Change: Meeting Room
Medea sat in a meeting room as she waited for those who chose a more scholarly path.
"Raikou, Medea, and Kahlua, these are all the refugees for you to deal with," Akasha said.
"Thank you, Akasha-sama," Medea replied before she closed the connection.
"Good evening, everyone," Medea began. "My name is Medea, and I am in charge of all the research that you will be doing." Medea pulled out a sheet of paper. "Albert Michaels and Caitlin Snow?"
"Present," Albert replied.
"I'm here," Caitlin replied.
"Both of you have been picked to be engineering researchers, correct?" she asked.
"I did," Albert replied.
"Yes," Caitlin replied. Medea nodded her head as she looked at the paper again.
"Barbra Ann Minerva, Grace Balin, and Pamela Isley," Medea called out.
"Here," Barbra replied.
"Present," Grace replied.
"Yes?" Pamela replied.
"All three of you chose to be biology researchers?" she asked. All of them nodded their heads. "Finally, Raven, Giovanni Zatara, and Zatanna Zatara?"
"I'm here," Giovanni replied.
"Present," Raven and Zatanna replied together.
"All three of you chose to be researchers in the magical arts?" Medea asked.
"We did," Giovanni replied, referring to himself and Zatanna.
"I did as well," Raven replied.
"Did Akasha-sama explain to all of you your role and responsibilities yet?"
"She said that we need to help recreate technology because the high density of mana caused the current short malfunction," Albert said.
"Correct," Medea replied.
"We already had three generations of magical technology, or magi-tech, to reference from," Medea said.
"Can you explain it?" Caitlin asked.
"I too wish to hear about this," Giovanni added.
"Okay," Medea replied. She brought out an older square television. They could see runes engraved around the outside of the television. "So, the first generation of magi-tech was created to keep the magical energy from directly interfering with the electronics."
"So magic acts like an EMP to electronics…" Giovanni said.
"Correct," Medea replied.
"Has there been any progress in reproducing the first generation of magi-tech?" Albert asked.
"Unfortunately, no," Medea replied. "According to the individuals who created the first generation, they built the outer shell in an area devoid of magic to ensure that the electronics were not affected by the magic. This is no longer possible because the entire world is saturated with mana."
"What's the second method?" Zatanna asked. Medea placed a small metal contraption on the table. It reminded them of a small air pump, but the hose was replaced with the female end of a power cord.
"The second method, named 1.5 generation of magi-tech, uses low-density mana generators to absorb the mana from the surroundings and convert it to stable electricity."
"And this method is not possible due to the higher density of mana," Giovanni said.
"Correct," Medea replied. "With the discovery of mana crystals in the dungeons, we entered the third phase, the second generation of magi-tech." She placed a tray on the table. They could see a large crystal, a few smaller standardized pieces of crystal, a thin cable that was the same color as the previous crystals, and lastly, tiny crystals that were a different color. "We were able to take mana crystals from dungeons and transform them into mana batteries, mana cables, and mana resistors."
"Sorry… what are mana resistors?" Raven asked.
"Resistors are normally used in electronics to regulate the flow of electrical current. In this case, I assume they regulate the flow of mana from the mana batteries," Albert said.
"Correct," Medea replied. "The engineering group is split into two factions. One wants to abandon the old technology and create new, functional technology, while the other still wants to salvage what they can from the old technology."
"It might be better to start fresh with new technology. Hopefully, we will be able to create a way to salvage the old tech," Caitlin said.
"The problem is that modern technology has delicate components. There may be a possibility to salvage data from them now, but in the future, it might not be possible," Albert replied.
"As for the biology researchers," Medea began, changing topics. "Pamela will be focused on collecting samples of new fauna and working with various teams to record data on those fauna." Medea paused as she turned to Barbra and Grace. "As for you two, you will be assisting in creating an encyclopedia of the variety of creatures that populate our planet."
"Will we be collecting the fauna ourselves, or will individuals be collecting it for us?" Pamela asked.
"Initially, it will be you and a group of Adventurers as escorts," Medea replied.
"Medea, do I need a group of Adventurers as escorts?" Pamela asked.
"Officially, yes, since you are not registered as an Adventurer. However, if you wish, you could get certified as an Adventurer, which will give you more leeway," Medea replied.
"Might as well," Pamela replied. Medea turned to the rest of the group.
"Anyone else want to get certified?" Medea asked.
"It would make everything more convenient," Giovanni said. Zatanna and Raven silently nodded.
"Sure," Albert said.
"I guess I'll join," Caitlin said.
"Okay, let me ask," Medea said.
"Hey Raikou, is this a good time to talk?" Medea asked.
"Sure, need something?" Raikou quickly replied.
"Yes, a few of my refugees want to apply for an Adventurer license."
"Oh, just bring them down to the basement when you are done," Raikou said.
"Thank you," Medea replied as she cut the connection.
"Once we are done here, we can all go down and take the test," Medea announced. Everyone nodded as Medea continued. "Lastly, we have the magical researchers." Medea turned to Giovanni, Zatanna, and Raven. "As mentioned before, your magic systems are different from the ones we have here, so we want you to write books about it and possibly teach any students who are able to learn it."
"That should be fine," Giovanni replied.
"I could help, Daddy, when I have time," Zatanna replied.
"I don't know," Raven said. "I don't think my magic is safe for others to know about."
"From what little I know about it, I would agree with Raven's opinion," Giovanni said.
"But I think I can share some generic concepts about my magic," Raven added.
"Okay," Medea said. She looked at the clock. "Tomorrow morning, someone will escort each of you to your respective sites. Any questions about that?" No one replied. "In that case, follow me." Medea escorted them down to the training basement. They arrived to see that Nelliel was testing Chian. She fired compressed blasts of water at Nelliel, who calmly deflected them with her Zanpakutō. Chian waved her hand, causing the remaining water blasts to reform and fly back at Nelliel's back. She instinctively twisted her body, avoiding the attacks. Nelliel swung her sword down, sending a blast of wind toward Chian. She pulled the water in front of her, forming a wall. Nelliel's attack partially pierced through the wall.
"I believe that is enough," Nelliel said as she sheathed her sword. Chian allowed the water to transform back into water vapor. "Based on what I've seen you do, Chian, I believe you deserve the A-rank."
"Really?" Chian asked.
"I do," Nelliel replied. "You've demonstrated great control over water, using it offensively and defensively. I recommend you invest in developing a suitable method to fight in close combat."
"I will take your recommendation into consideration," Chian replied. They turned to see Medea and the others.
"Before we start, is there anyone who uses lightning or water-based attacks?" Raikou asked.
"I transform into a whale," Grace said.
"Noted," Raikou replied. "When it's your turn, you will fight Nelliel."
"Okay," Grace replied.
"My name is Minamoto no Raikou," she began, "as Medea has already explained, all of you are here to get certified as Adventurers. We will do a brief spar, and from that spar, I will rank you. Any questions?" No one said anything. "Great." She pointed at Albert. "Get on stage," Albert replied as he climbed onto the stage. A barrier formed around them. "Three… Two… One. Fight!" Raikou shouted. Albert fired green radioactive energy beams at Raikou. She calmly dodged them. Raikou summoned her bow and began firing purple lightning arrows at Albert. Albert covered his body with his green radioactive energy and charged towards Raikou. Her arrows bounced off Albert's body. Raikou switched her bow for her katana. Albert fired more energy beams at Raikou. Her katana was covered with purple lightning as she charged at Albert. Albert aimed his energy beams at Raikou. She split Albert's attack. When she got close, she swung her katana at Albert before he could react. The lightning exploded, sending him flying. She pointed her katana at the falling Albert and stabbed her katana forward, firing a beam of lightning at Albert. The lightning struck him.
"RAH!" Albert yelled from the pain. He soon landed on the ground.
"I would rank him as a C-rank," Raikou said. "He has basic fighting skills, but he has the potential to advance. If he focused on learning more fighting skills and practicing his powers, I can see him quickly entering B-rank or higher." The maid began to heal him and helped him stand up.
"Thank you," Albert said as the barrier around them dissipated. Raikou picked Caitlin next. She used her ice powers against Raikou. Raikou ranked Caitlin as a C-rank because Caitlin was inexperienced with her powers and lacked fighting experience. Barbra and Grace were ranked C-rank. Each of their abilities to transform into a cheetah and orca gave them a massive boost to their physical capabilities, just enough to defeat D-rank monsters. Raikou admitted that if Pamela were in a grassy environment, she could be at least a B-rank or even an A-rank. The opposite is true if she were in a desert without any vegetation; she would be a D-rank or even lower. Raikou decided to put her as a conditional C-rank. Raven and Zatanna were both ranked as B-rank Adventurers. Each of their magics was powerful enough to defeat waves of B-rank monsters but not strong enough to defeat an A-rank monster. Finally, Giovanni was ranked as an A-rank but has the potential to be an S-rank.
"Tomorrow, you will be given your Adventurer Cards and will be paired up with another Adventurer in the meantime," Raikou said. Everyone nodded. "For now, the maids will escort you to the dining room for dinner."
Scene Change: Guest Room
"I don't know what I want to do with myself," Harleen thought to herself. After she was escorted into the room, she lay down, continuing to contemplate her future. She had talked with Pamela about it when they were in Ichigo's pocket dimension. Pamela admitted she wanted to return to being a botanist or something similar. Harleen, on the other hand, didn't want to return to being a psychiatrist. Suddenly, she heard someone knocking on her door.
"Come in!" Harleen shouted as she sat up. The door opened, and Elizabeth walked in.
"Oh, I think I'm in the wrong room," Elizabeth said upon seeing Harleen.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Harleen asked.
"Sorry," Elizabeth said. "Mother asked me to come meet some people, she said that there were a few young adults traumatized from their experience and wanted me to interact with them."
"Your mother?" Harleen asked.
"Akasha," Elizabeth replied.
"I see…" Harleen replied.
"Sorry for disturbing you," Elizabeth said as she walked toward the door.
"Wait, can I come with you? I was a trained psychiatrist," Harleen said.
"Hm… sure," Elizabeth replied. As they stepped out, they saw Kunou and Senna stepping out of two other rooms. Behind them were Kamala Khan and Holly Denton.
"You told me the wrong room on purpose," Elizabeth accused.
"No, I didn't," Kunou replied.
"Guys," Senna interjected, "it was an honest mistake." She looked at Harleen. "Sorry for showing you that," she said.
"So, what's your plan for us?" Harleen asked.
"We plan to take everyone out to the ranch out back to see all the Pokémon," Elizabeth said.
"Wait… Pokémon? There are actual Pokémon here?" Harleen asked. Kamala and Holly also paid close attention to Elizabeth.
"Not originally, Pokémon aren't native to our world," Elizabeth began. "But Tou-san was sent to the Pokémon Universe, and during that time, he caught a decent amount of Pokémon and brought them back here." Elizabeth, Kunou, and Senna escorted everyone out of the main building. They walked past the farms to see a ranch. They could see all kinds of Pokémon there.
"Wow," Harleen, Kamala, and Holly said.
"Let's go see Naturia," Kunou said as she ran off. Everyone quickly followed her. They arrived to see Naturia surrounded by a small pack of baby Eevees. She was brushing one of the Eevee's fur.
"Hello, everyone," she said. She looked at Harleen, Kamala, and Holly. "Did Ichigo add more people to the peerage?"
"Not exactly," Elizabeth replied. "These are refugees from another world."
"I see…" Naturia said as she placed the Eevee down. "I am Naturia Harmonia Gropius, Caretaker of the PokéRanch."
"I am Harleen," Harleen said.
"I'm Kamala," Kamala said.
"Holly," Holly said.
"Nice to meet all of you," Naturia said. "Do you want a tour of the PokéRanch?" Naturia asked. Harleen turned to Elizabeth, Kunou, and Senna.
"Is that okay?" Harleen asked, becoming the de facto spokesperson for them.
"Sure," Elizabeth replied. "We're going to visit some other Pokémon in the meantime." Harleen looked at Naturia.
"We would be honored," Harleen replied.
"Great," Naturia said. "Please follow me." Naturia began the tour of the PokéRanch.
"I'm surprised Pokémon were something that was in their world," Kunou admitted.
"So was I," Elizabeth replied.
"But glad that it was," Senna said. "When Akasha-sama asked us to befriend those students, we originally planned to bond over cute animals. But them knowing Pokémon makes it easier for us."
"I'm going to go see the baby Vulpix," Kunou said as she transformed into her kitsune form.
"Sure. I'm going to play with the baby Eevees," Elizabeth said as she sat down.
"I'm going to fight some of the Pokémon," Senna said as she summoned her Zanpakutō from her mindscape. During the tour, they spotted Kunou, in her kitsune form, playing with the baby Vulpix. Kunou returned to her human form and joined them on the tour.
They soon arrived to see Senna versus a Kingambit (2). Senna had a golden Khakkhara with a pointed tip. Senna spun her golden Khakkhara in front of her, sending a cyclone of wind at Kingambit. Kingambit entered into a crouched position, with both hands on her sides and her knee towards her chest. Her back leg was on the ground near her front ankle. Black energy covered the large blade on Kingambit's head. She lunged towards the cyclone. The winds from Senna's attack were ineffective in harming her. Senna smirked.
"Veiled shadows, silent ember's dance, unseen whispers in the void. Concealed within the cloak of twilight, ignite now, Hadō #12, Fushibi [Ambush Fire] (3)." Red flames sparked from the tip of Senna's Khakkhara. The flames merged with the cyclone. Kingambit roared in pain from the flames and quickly ran away from the flaming cyclone. Kingambit raised her arms, which transformed into metallic silver. She slid her arms together, sending a silver-colored sound wave at the opponent. Senna dropped her Zanpakutō as she quickly covered her ears from the pain. Kingambit stopped using Metal Sound and prepared to use Kowtow Cleave. Unbeknownst to Kingambit, Senna was aware that Metal Sound had already ended.
"Ye lord. Mask of blood and flesh," Senna began to chant. Kingambit once again got into a sprinter position. "All creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man." The blade on her head glowed with dark energy. "Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south." She lunged towards Senna. She pointed her palm at Kingambit. "Hadō #31. Shakkahō [Red Flame Cannon]!" Senna shouted as she fired a large flaming red ball at Kingambit. She was moving too fast and was too close to dodge, taking the Shakkahō to the face. Senna used her arm to cover her face from the explosion. Kingambit. The dust settled to reveal Kingambit lying on the ground unconscious.
"Winner, Senna," Naturia declared. Senna looked to see the tour group standing there. Senna sealed her Zanpakutō. Naturia pulled out a spray bottle and began to spray it on Kingambit. The liquid was quickly absorbed into her body. In a few seconds, Kingambit woke up. She nodded and slowly stood up.
"She said that you have improved greatly. Come back when you want to spar again," Naturia translated.
"Thank you," Senna replied. She joined the group as Naturia continued the tour. Soon, the tour ended with them back at Elizabeth and the pack of Eevees, who were sleeping in the shade. Kunou sighed as she walked over to the sleeping Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth, the tour is over," Kunou said as she gently shook Elizabeth. Elizabeth opened her eyes. Kunou helped remove the sleeping Eevees from her body. She sat up.
"Looks like all of you enjoyed the tour," Elizabeth said, seeing their happier faces.
"It was fun," Kamala admitted.
"I want to learn more about the Pokémons," Holly said.
"Naturia, is it possible to teach us how to be Pokémon Breeders?" Harleen asked. Kamala and Holly looked at Naturia, also interested in becoming Breeders.
"Hm…" Naturia thought. "Do you have any abilities that could be useful as a Breeder?"
"I'm immune to most toxins," Harleen admitted.
"I'm able to elongate and transform myself into different inanimate objects," Kamala said as she grew bigger, easily towering over everyone. Then she transformed into a giant chair. Afterward, she returned to normal.
"While I can break down things at the molecular level," Holly replied. She walked over and touched a rock. The rock began to transform into fine dust. In a few seconds, the rock turned into dust, which was blown away.
"I see…" Naturia replied. "Sure."
"Yay!" Holly and Kamala cheered.
"I will let Mother know," Elizabeth said.
"Mother?" Elizabeth asked.
"Yes, dear?" Akasha replied.
"Harleen, Holly, and Kamala are going to work with Naturia as his assistants," Elizabeth said.
"Okay," Akasha said. "Raikou and Medea are done with their groups and heading to the dining room for dinner. Please have them join the others."
"Okay, Mother," Elizabeth replied as she cut the peerage connection.
"The other groups are done and heading for dinner," Elizabeth said.
"Could I tell Pamela about the Pokémon? She might be interested in the grass types," Harleen asked.
"Why would this Pamela be interested in the grass types?" Naturia asked.
"She used to be human, but due to some experiment gone wrong, she became a plant with a human mind," Harleen explained.
"Hm… I think that's fine," Naturia replied.
"Yay!" Harleen replied. They all walked back to Ichigo's estate for dinner.
Scene Change: Nursery
Kahlua calmly watched the eleven babies sleeping in their cribs. Beside her were ten other maids assigned to assist in taking care of the babies. Each of them had read the reports that Chishiki had made, including the biological donors of each baby and the expected powers. Kahlua was rocking a dark-skinned baby boy. She noticed a door silently opening as two other women entered the room, one of whom was pushing a stroller with two more babies. Kahlua raised her finger, silently signaling one moment. The ladies nodded and left the room. Kahlua placed the baby back into his crib. On the crib was a small nameplate that read Virgil (4). Kahlua silently exited the room, gently closing the door behind her.
"Hi! I'm Kahlua," Kahlua said in a happy tone.
"I am Yamashiro Tatsu," Tatsu said with a bow.
"I am Talia al Ghul, please call me Talia, and this is Damien and Alexandria," Talia said.
"Welcome," Kahlua replied. "Both of you are helping me take care of the other children?" she asked.
"Yes," Tatsu replied.
"In addition to my own children," Talia added.
"Okay, then," Kahlua turned to Tatsu. "Do you want to help Talia-san, or do you want to help with one of the other babies?"
"Can I see the other babies?" Tatsu asked.
"Sure," Kahlua replied. She turned to Talia, "Do you want to see them too?"
"Might as well," Talia replied. They silently entered the nursery. They looked at the first crib. They saw a slightly tanned Asian-looking baby with specks of black hair. The nameplate on the crib read Fēilóng [Soaring Dragon]. Next to Fēilóng was Virgil. Beside Virgil was a pair of white-skinned babies with white hair and distinctively pointed ears. The baby girl's name was Celestia, while the baby boy's name was Aether. After them was a lightly tanned girl with black hair with a few streaks of green. Her name was Uriel. Next to her was an Asian-looking girl with blonde hair. Tatsu's eyes widened as she recognized some of the features of the baby. Her name was Gabriel. Next to Gabriel was another Asian baby girl with black hair. Her name was Ramiel. Next to her was a Caucasian boy with black hair. His name was Michael. Next to Michael was a baby with green skin and no clear male or female features. The baby's name was Jophiel. Next to Jophiel was another white-skinned baby girl with white hair and distinctively pointed ears. She looked similar to Celestia, but she had tiny white wings on her back. Her name was Zaphkiel. Tatsu pointed at the door they had entered through. Kahlua nodded and escorted them out of the room.
"Why does Gabriel resemble me?" Tatsu asked.
"Because Gabriel was created by combining your DNA with Wally West, also known as the Flash," Kahlua replied as she handed the file to Tatsu. She skimmed it and confirmed that Gabriel was biologically her daughter.
"So, can we meet your little ones?" Kahlua asked as she looked at Talia.
"Yes," Talia walked over to her stroller. "The little boy is Damien," Talia said as she pointed at the baby boy with black hair. "While the little girl is Alexandria," Talia said as she pointed at the baby girl with blonde hair.
"So, what is expected of us?" Tatsu asked.
"Nothing much for now," Kahlua admitted. "The maids will assist in the basic needs of the babies for now. Once they grow older, you can help mentor them," Kahlua replied.
"In a few years, right?" Tatsu asked as she remembered raising her daughters.
"No, maybe in a few months," Kahlua replied.
"How?" Tatsu asked. Talia also looked curious.
"Cadmus used nutritional supplements to rapidly age the Ultimen to adult forms," Kahlua began. "They also planned to do the same with the Seraphim."
"So, you are planning to do the same with them?" Tatsu asked.
"Chishiki said there are no issues with using the nutritional supplements until they are physically five years old," Kahlua replied.
"So, the kids will age a year in a month?" Talia said.
"Correct," Kahlua replied.
"Are you planning to give the supplements to Damien and Alexandria?" Talia asked.
"No… I don't even know if it is safe for them," Kahlua admitted.
"Good," Talia replied.
"Looks like it's dinner time," Kahlua said as she glanced at the clock.
"Should I bring Damien and Alexandria along?" Talia asked.
"No need to worry," Kahlua replied. "The maids will remain here and keep an eye on the kids."
"Okay," Talia replied.
Scene Change: Separate Room
Unlike the others, Ace was escorted directly to someone's room. The maid knocked on the door.
"Come in." The maid opened the door, allowing Ace to enter. Ace walked into the room to see Sabrina floating in the air with her psychic powers, her legs crossed. Sabrina waved her hands, lifting two chairs with her psychic energy and bringing them over. She lowered herself into one of the chairs. "Hello, little one. Please sit."
"Who are you?" Ace asked as she sat down.
"My name is Sabrina," Sabrina introduced. "What's your name?"
"People call me Ace," Ace replied.
"Do you like being called Ace?" Sabrina asked.
"I guess?" Ace replied.
"Is it okay if I call you Ace?" Sabrina asked.
"Okay," Ace replied. They sat in silence for a moment.
"Did you wonder why you were sent to me?" Sabrina asked.
"I did," Ace admitted. "But I've learned not to ask those questions."
"I see…" Sabrina said. "Ichigo sent you here so I can teach you how to control your powers and hopefully give you an opportunity to experience life without fear."
"Why?" Ace asked.
"Because I was just like you once…" Sabrina began to share a bit of her past with Ace. Ace listened intently, recognizing the similarities in their experiences.
"She's similar to me," Ace thought. "Both of us were abandoned by our families. We thought we found a place that accepted us, only for them to use us for our powers… We were both rescued by Ichigo."
"Ace, did you ever have a pet?" Sabrina asked.
"No," Ace replied.
"Do you want one?" Sabrina asked with a small smile.
"Are you sure? Won't you get in trouble?" Sabrina cracked a small smile.
"No worries," Sabrina said. They left Sabrina's room and headed outside. Sabrina surrounded Ace and herself with psychic energy. They began to float. Ace was amazed by the sensation of Sabrina's powers and the feeling of being in the air. They flew off, passing the main building and a nearby farm. Sabrina lowered them at the entrance of a ranch. Ace was mesmerized by the beauty. Sabrina cracked a small smile. "Ace, follow me," she said. Ace turned to Sabrina and followed her, seeing various creatures along the way.
"What are they?" she asked.
"They are called Pokémon," Sabrina said. "Just like you, these Pokémon and I originated from another universe Ichigo was in. When Ichigo returned to his world, he gave us the option to stay in our original world or join him in his world."
"I see…" Ace said. They arrived to see a pack of small, mammalian, quadrupedal creatures with brown fur surrounding bowls of food. The tips of their bushy tails and their large furry collars were cream-colored.
"These are Eevees," Sabrina identified. "They are one of the few Pokémon that can evolve based on their environment." Sabrina released her Espeon. "This is Espeon. She evolved from an Eevee." Espeon walked over to Ace and began to nudge her leg. Ace bent down and petted Espeon. Suddenly, the pack of Eevees noticed them and immediately swarmed them. Sabrina bent down and began to pet the pack of Eevees. Meanwhile, a smaller Eevee with a darker shade of brown fur walked over to the bowl of food and began to eat. Ace noticed the runt. She carefully stood up without disturbing the Eevees and walked over to pet the little runt. The little Eevee enjoyed the attention as it continued to eat. Ace looked at Sabrina.
"Can I pick this one?" she asked.
"Of course," Sabrina replied as she walked over to Ace. "Let's head to the lab to get your Eevee registered." They walked toward a building. Sabrina grabbed a Poké Ball and placed it in a machine. She typed something into the computer before handing the Poké Ball to Ace. "Now you need to capture your Eevee."
"How?" Ace asked.
"Just tap the Pokémon with the button on the Poké Ball," Sabrina instructed. Ace gently pressed the Poké Ball against the Eevee's stomach. The Poké Ball opened, and Eevee glowed with red energy before transforming into a red light that entered the Poké Ball. The Poké Ball rocked side to side for a few moments before a white flash indicated a successful capture.
"I did it," Ace said.
"Good. Now follow me," Sabrina said. They walked back to the machine and placed the Poké Ball inside. Data began to appear on the screen. "This Eevee is male and has a darker shade of brown fur, though he is smaller than normal."
"His name is Jack," Ace decided.
"Okay," Sabrina said as she inputted the nickname into the system. "So, Jack only knows Tackle, Quick Attack, and Growl."
"Okay," Ace replied as Sabrina took Jack's Poké Ball from the machine. She quickly showed Ace how to minimize the Poké Ball and how to release Jack from it, followed by Ace practicing sending Jack out. After that, Sabrina asked Jack to demonstrate each of his moves to Ace and gave her a brief introduction to Pokemon about how they and their powers grow.
"Let me show you your room," Sabrina said. Ace and Jack silently followed Sabrina back to the main manor. Ace's room was next to Sabrina's.
"This is my room?" Ace asked, noticing how large it was compared to her old one.
"It is," Sabrina replied. "My room is next to yours."
"Jack, how do you like the room?" Ace asked.
"Eve!" Jack happily replied as he ran around the room, exploring his new space.
"Tomorrow, we will begin your training to get your powers under control," Sabrina said.
"Okay," Ace replied.
Scene Change: Jupiter
Floating in outer space was an enormous space station resembling a gigantic rook piece. It comprised a large central hub with four limbs extending outwards to four smaller hubs. The central hub rotated and generated artificial gravity to replicate Earth's environment. Below the central limbs was a bay for launching various-sized ships. Most of the space station's functions were automated, with only seven people on board. Suddenly, alarms rang, alerting all seven people on the space station.
"What is going on?" Marvelous yelled.
"It seems someone teleported into the space station," Don replied.
"Where are they?" Marvelous asked.
"They are in the teleporter room," Gai replied.
"Get me a view of the teleporter room!" Marvelous ordered.
"Already on it," Seekvaira, Don's wife, quickly replied. The screen changed to show two figures in the teleporter room. A woman stood there, holding a sign. She wrote something on it and then turned to the camera, showing the sign: "Sorry for the unexpected appearance. We come in peace."
"Marvelous, what should we do?" Don asked.
"We hope for the best but prepare for the worst," Marvelous replied. Everyone nodded and pressed a button on their watches. Nanomachines emerged, encasing them in suits of armor. Once everyone was suited, they headed down to the teleporter room. The invaders were still there.
"Hello everyone, I am Yin-Yang," the woman introduced herself.
"What's your purpose here?" Marvelous asked.
"Chishiki sent us here, on Ichigo's behalf," Yin-Yang replied.
"Let me call him," Marvelous said, picking up his phone to call Ichigo.
"Hello, Marvelous," Ichigo answered.
"Hello, Ichigo. Did you send someone named Yin-Yang to see us?" Marvelous asked.
"I did. I forgot to inform you, sorry," Ichigo replied.
"So… why did you send them our way?" Marvelous asked.
"I sent them to you to see if there is anything they can do to upgrade the space station before they begin constructing another space station in the Kuiper Belt," Ichigo explained.
"I see… Thank you for informing us," Marvelous replied as he ended the call. "Sorry for doubting you."
"No worries," Yin-Yang replied. Marvelous exited his suit.
"Allow me to give you a tour of Akatsuki Kanshi-tō [Dawn Watchtower," Marvelous said.
"Okay," Yin-Yang agreed. Marvelous showed Yin-Yang around, and she took a few notes. They soon returned to the teleporter room.
"Based on what I saw, I would suggest a few minor improvements," Yin-Yang said.
"Such as?" Marvelous asked. Yin-Yang handed him a memory card.
"This memory contains all the suggestions I recommend for upgrading Akatsuki Kanshi-tō," Yin-Yang explained.
"I see… Thank you," Marvelous replied as he accepted the memory card. Yin-Yang nodded and opened a boom tube to leave.
Scene Change: Pluto
Yin-Yang stepped out of the boom tube to see Mobius floating in outer space. He watched as Pluto was being transformed by the War Seed, which was devouring other asteroids in the Kuiper Belt to fuel its transformation.
"How did it go with Master's other subordinates?" Mobius asked.
"It went well," Yin-Yang replied. "What about you?"
"I have found four suitable planets to use the War Seed on. All of them are located in his asteroid belt," Mobius said, raising his hand to create a hologram of the solar system. "I have chosen Pluto, Eris, Haumea, and Makemake to become new War Worlds."
"Oh, have you given them designations yet?" Yin-Yang asked.
"I have," Mobius replied. The hologram zoomed in on the farthest planet. "The planet known as Eris will be called Kage Sensō Sekai [Shadow War World, which will serve as the main base for the Shadow Guardians." The hologram moved to the next farthest planet. "The planet known as Makemake will be called Seifuku Sensō Sekai [Conquest War World, which will serve as the main base for the War Guardians." The hologram then moved to the next farthest planet. "The planet known as Haumea will be called Teikoku Sensō Sekai [Imperial War World, which will serve as the main base for the Imperial Guardians."
"What about the last War World?" Yin-Yang asked.
"I'm getting to that," Mobius replied. The hologram moved to the final planet. "The planet known as Pluto will be called Eien no Meirei Sensō Sekai [Eternal Command War World]. This will serve as our command post along with the other three War Worlds."
"Looks like you've planned this out well," Yin-Yang said.
"I have," Mobius agreed.
"When are you going to inform the commanders?" Yin-Yang asked.
"Once I finish implementing the command protocols into all the War Worlds. It was inefficient to have only one person controlling the entire War World," Mobius explained.
"So, you will create multiple headsets to control the War Worlds?" Yin-Yang asked.
"Indeed. The headset from Eien no Meirei Sensō Sekai will be able to control the other three War Worlds, but not the other way around unless we have those headsets," Mobius explained.
"Well, good luck with that," Yin-Yang said as she opened another boom tube and returned to the new pocket dimension Mobius created for the Eternal Guardian.
Author's notes:
1) In Batman Beyond, when Inque was introduced, she never had a name, so I took her daughter's name and made it her name.
2) Ichigo caught a Bisharp before he left the Pokémon Universe so he could get a Kingambit, ignoring in-game mechanics.
3) Fushibi is not canonical kidō but it lacked a kidō chant so I created one.
4) Referencing Virgil Hawkins is Static from the show, Static Shock, and the Dakotaverse (Milestone Media).
