Five didn't know where he was sleeping other than it was uncomfortable. The cold whatever and killing headache not allowing him to slip back to sleep. Stretching his limbs, he flinched when something metal sounding loudly dropped to the floor. Even trying to rotate his body almost made him fall off his thin makeshift bed.
"Oh why?" Taking a moment to force his glued eyelids open, he figured out that he was on a kitchen counter. "What did I get up to last night?"
He raised a hand to push the hair out of his face. Groaning more he tried to remove his watch when the old leather started to irritate his wrist. But as his fingers ran along the leather, he remembered that he currently had Cielo's watch. Peeking his eye down at it, he didn't even process the time when he saw the thing he dreaded the most since its owner brought it on sale.
He shot up. The green and gold watch that he came to hate was cracked. The hands cut short of its cycle a little past midnight. The day of the apocalypse.
"Cielo..." Fear struck through him like nothing before.
Pushing him beyond his limits, he blinked all over the hotel. He was jumping so fast that he barely processed where he had been and where he hadn't. All he knew was that he hadn't found her yet. But she had to be here. She had to be somewhere in the hotel. Fast asleep. Working on the briefcases. With his family. Somewhere. Somewhere close to him as always.
At one point he knew he'll just jump into a random room. He'll find her getting ready for the day. She'll be startled but greet him with a smile. She'll ask him what was going on and why he was so jumpy. Laugh at him for being so paranoid. Then they'll hug and get rid of this stupid watch. That's how it'll go. He'll find her.
Blinking into Lila and Diego's room, he roughly grabbed the woman. Startling the two when he suddenly started shaking her awake.
"This isn't the time to be sleeping, Lila!"
"Five what the fuck?!" Diego pushed his brother off before a fight broke out. Five tried his best to take deep breaths as he paced around the room. He was exhausted. Panicked out of his mind.
"What's got your panties in a twist you little shit?"
"Cielo. Did you -did you two see her? Did she say anything to you last night- before- I don't- do you know of any other time bunker- something- she could have access-"
Five didn't get a chance to further push Lila as a wave of nausea washed over him. On his staggering feet he found his way to a trash can. The poor thing almost tipping over with his full weight crashing it before filling it up with his stomach's contents.
Diego rushed out of the bed. Putting a hand on his brother's back, he looked back at Lila still trying to understand what was happening. "Hey, what happened? Is something wrong with Cielo?"
Five could barely lift his head as he coughed heavily. "I don't know- I- I can't find her. I checked all over the hotel but she's not here. Last I remember she left the party early because she felt tired. Which isn't anything new since she came to this timeline. So I didn't think anything of it and let her go. And now-"
He resisted the urge to throw up again. The two looked at each other with concern. "Five there's a good chance that she's been Kuge-"
"No!"
"Five!" Diego raised his brother's head to look at him. Fuck, they've never seen him this distraught. His blood shot eyes stood out from his shaking pale skin. Softening his hold on him, Diego took a deep breath. "We'll help you look but you need to prepare yourself if we can't find her."
She couldn't be gone. Not after all they did. She was supposed to survive outside of Time. A being that no one could track. To disappear without a trace. The only thing that remained constant in his fast changing life. The sole person in time that understood him. Cielo.
Five looked down at her watch. He knew that this wasn't the first time he lost someone but that didn't soften the effect. He wanted to grieve. But he couldn't even feel any tears forming. Without her beside him, it's hard to tell what he felt. There was anger. Confusion. Exhaustion. Sadness. A lot of sadness. Most of all he just felt empty.
Death didn't feel like much. Not that Cielo expected it to be. Still, it was weird to think that she was dead and consciously aware of it. If what she was doing could be considered conscious that is. Standing up from the leather chair, she walked closer to the tv playing some random documentary. Strange choice of program.
Her watch, ie. Five's watch was gone. Makes sense considering that there probably was no sense of time here. It would have been nice to have it on her though. As she placed the same bare hand on the tv, it changed screens.
It was almost like the ISB. Except that she couldn't find the dials to do what she wanted. If she had to guess this place was some sort of in between. Not a heaven or hell as the majority thought. Or this was her version of one and she couldn't tell. Watching back old childhood memories on the tv didn't exactly help pinpoint which she belonged in.
At least these were her memories playing and not the other Cielo's. She could tell that much. Some were a lot clearer than others. A lot of her miscellaneous memories weren't shown. Instead it showed random ones that, now looking back, probably played a key role in who she was today. She saw her family again. The day she got into university. True to what Five said she did end up wearing a pink dress to her graduation. It was all so normal. All of that amounts to her death now.
When Luther appeared, she changed the screen back to the documentary. She didn't want to discuss why he had joined her. "Hey there Spaceboy. I didn't get a chance to talk to you last night but congratulations on the wedding."
"Thanks Cielo. I'm glad that you had fun. Man, I'm starving. How about you?" He sat up and some pizza boxes and soda appeared in front of him.
"I think I'm okay for now. Don't hold back for my sake though. Eat away." She leaned against the tv stand. Thinking about it, this outfit was too out of place. She was glad she died in a nice outfit but it was a bit uncomfortable to stand out so much.
In a blink of an eye, her dress changed to a pair of sweatpants and an oversized hoodie. It had been so long since she dressed in full comfort mode. She didn't even need to change clothes. It had changed from her thoughts alone. Same with the tv. If things were only that easy back when they were alive. Funny that in death everything seems so easy. It made her wonder why she was trying so hard to live.
"Hey, you know I care about you?" Luther told her with his hand hovering over the pizza box.
She chuckled and pulled her leg over the other. "What's with the sudden care?"
"It's just, like we've known each other a long time at least it feels long with all the time travel we did and this is maybe the first time I've seen you so relaxed. You're practically family in my eyes. If any of my siblings or even Five give you any trouble, you can call me to give them a talking to."
"Thank you and I should mention that I'm sorry too. When I arrived in the timeline the first thing I told you was that your world was doomed. The next thing was that you were too trusting of a plan that was going to fail. I didn't mean to imply that the Sparrows were evil or discourage you from trying your best. I just didn't think that sacrificing for the sake of revenge was right for what was needed. The idea of getting the two families was correct but not the right methods."
"Yeah. In hindsight, you were right. Killing Harlan didn't do anything but made things worse. If anything I was more surprised that Allison was the one to blow up instead of Viktor. I guess you knew that would be the case since the start. You've been on Viktor's side better than any of us even though you were only his neighbour."
Another thing that her memories must have pulled her to be. "Violinist was always a kind person. He just needed some help controlling his powers. That's what I told you the first time didn't I? That all he needed was some help? I think Rumor is like that now."
"I think Allison is far gone now." Her peripheral view showed his fist tightening into a ball.
"Did she do something to you too?"
"I don't want to talk about it." She nodded at his fast shut down. Whatever it was, it was probably way worse than her almost getting rumoured by her.
"You don't have to tell me if you aren't comfortable. Whatever happens, how you feel about her, the situation, it's all up to you."
He waited for her to refute herself that never came. "But?"
"But you knew a but was coming. I still mean it that you don't have to talk about it or forgive it. However, there is a part of you that sounds like you want me to vouch for her because she's your sister and someone you know better than I. She refused to shoot Violinist in the theaters, she rushed into a FBI building to save everyone, even with her on the cusp of exploding she attended your wedding without starting a major farce. It's difficult putting all that good with the bad. Look at all of it and decide yourself how she can make it up to you. Not how you can forgive her."
Luther did understand why Allison had such a change in mood. The last time she spoke with Claire she couldn't even speak. Her life was the most perfect one out of the family then it was thrown to the fan. Now they had nothing here. But while most of them tried to move on, it was easier said than done. Allison was the show of that.
He knew that but he couldn't ignore that she's changed. Or maybe she never did and this was always her. He didn't want to believe that.
"How can you remain so neutral? Even when Viktor blew up our home and was the cause of the end of the world, how could you still say with confidence that their good sides haven't disappeared?"
"I've seen you all be heroes and I've seen you all fall like humans. I've grown up with my parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.. I've gone to junior, middle, high school, university and to the workforce. You can say that I'm an adult that has a lot of human connections. But I am in no way able to remain neutral to my personal affairs. My feelings can't change because I tell them to. That's the same for many others. There's a lot of different people out there and it's impossible to understand all of them. Your siblings aren't the only ones in the world to make questionable choices. I just… give a chance to hear them out."
While it may seem like Cielo was some kind of saint that didn't have a single bad bone in her, it was only that the Umbrellas didn't get to see it. Was she beyond terrified and pissed at Allison for almost rumouring her? Of course! Will she hold it against her to make her an evil villain? That was still up for question. How Luther felt about Allison will not be because of any input from Cielo, but solely of his own thoughts and feelings.
"You were the one to say 'but' first today. If you truly believed that Violinist was evil back then, you would have fought me to the end. You see the good in them too. They just need to see it for themselves. Still," she crossed her arms, "if Rumor chooses to make it up to you, you decide how and if it's an option. You can recognize the good in someone without liking them."
"Have you ever felt that way towards me before?"
"You can't be serious. Spaceboy, I only knew about you through Violinist's book and a five second meeting to locking Violinist in the basement. Before that you were Number One of the Umbrella Academy! I was such a big fan. My views are constantly changing about you. To this timeline where you would rather marry someone rather than listen to your father. I didn't like you but when I arrived in 1963 you were the only person I could've depended on. I can work with that. Now we're talking over pizza and you consider me family. I like that I gave you a chance but not everyone I do properly earns my respect in the end."
He didn't think that Cielo had ever expressed her ill will to him. Or anyone for that matter for him to see. Besides when they disagreed other giving Harlan. Even then she was pleading him to understand. He always took her to be completely pure of heart to everyone. He didn't realize that she was actually capable of hating people yet still working with them with a smile.
"This is the first time we are chatting casually, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it's refreshing. Sorry it took so long. You're a good person Spaceboy. Please don't change my mind about this." He started laughing. He didn't know if her smile was fake but he'll take it.
"I'll try not to. Cheers?" He raised a soda can to which she picked one up to click with his.
"Cheers to a not terrible relationship."
He chugged the liquid in one go before turning to the tv. The liquid didn't taste of anything to her. Perhaps because she was more aware of their state that she couldn't conjure up what it was meant to be. "What's playing right now?"
"Some documentary about the universe. Reality and all that fun stuff."
"That's right up your alley then."
She chuckled. "I guess so but I am much over that kind of thinking. It gets confusing when you look too much into it."
"Really?" He leaned forward in his seat, a pizza in hand.
On the one hand, their existence was so small that it's almost reassuring that nothing they do will hurt in the long run. She could embarrass herself in front of a board room of meetings but there were thousands more that will never care about that side of her. There used to be a comfort in that.
On the other hand? The millions and millions of so-called miracles needed to get to where the world is today were tiny in the grand schemes of things. What humanity considered to be historical, ground-breaking moments that shaped society means nothing now. They were working so hard for it to not mean anything. What did anyone work so hard for if they are nothing but specks?
She leaned back to stare up at the blank sky. She wanted to see the stars. Some clouds. Something. Luther was right there but they were both dead. It was quite lonely here.
Klaus appeared in another chair. He grabbed a pizza without saying much. He was pretty used to this part. At least this time he had some well known company instead of whatever the girl on a bicycle was. And some pizza. Pineapple though? They could have conjured anything up and they got pineapple?
The three of them sat around as the tv continued to play. The broadcaster speaking was only talking about theories and historical guesses. It was useless trying to find an answer. It wouldn't do any good to even receive one.
Luther was getting really into it though. That was until he took in Klaus's appearance. Taking a moment to realize how strange this place was. "Wait a second. Where exactly are we?"
"We're dead, man. We're dead. Welcome to my hood." Getting it confirmed by Klaus didn't feel good. The reality of finally hitting Luther as well. He acted way more realistically than Cielo and Klaus did. Their dad was an alien that murdered them all. Really the cherry on top of the beautiful relationship.
Though their cute bonding over their deaths wasn't long lived when Luther realized that there were still the others to be worried about. Much to his disapproval, Klaus was unwilling to help so they started to bicker around. It didn't take long for Luther to get physical with it. Though it didn't do any damage due to the whole being dead thing.
They started to run around in front of her that she just tuned them out. It was easy to forget that they were adults with how they kept going around and around the chairs. Then again, they were siblings that this kind of behaviour was somewhat normal. Including throwing the other around through the walls.
Cielo opened her mouth to question where Klaus had gone. Shutting it back when she decided not to question the workings of the afterlife. Nor how Luther could master it so quickly as he disappeared after him. "Must they argue in death too?"
She barely managed to hold her ground when Klaus suddenly reappeared and grabbed her shoulders, turning her to hide from Luther. Now she had to get involved. "Okay boys stop with all the jumping around. We're going to be here awhile. Rather than wasting it wrestling around in whatever void places you were, we can have a civil conversation here."
"Cielo tell Klaus that he needs to go back to save everyone!"
"Cielo tell Luther that he's being a big meanie and that I can't do that!"
"You are so selfish!"
"Says the guy telling me to run into another dimension just to die again!"
"You can't die!"
"Doesn't make it fun!"
"Shut up!" The two froze at the, usual, calm woman suddenly shouting. Forcing a breath in and out, she gave a slight push to separate them a bit from her. "I said a civil conversation. What about shouting is civil?"
"He started it!"
"I did?!"
"Yes you!"
"Shush! Both of you shut your mouths before I staple them closed for the rest of our dead lives!"
"And how do you plan to do that?"
"You want to test it?" She snapped. While Cielo wasn't the typical person that would instil fear into people, they couldn't deny the shiver they felt with her glare. She forced herself not to look at her empty wrist. A sigh left her lips as she put her hands on her hips. "Good. Now Spaceboy, what you're asking is a big favour. Is that any way to speak to your brother?"
"He's the one that's-"
"I'm not asking about him. If you're asking him to risk his life to go against an alien in another dimension, do you think tossing him around is very appropriate?"
He pouted, his shoulders falling. "No ma'am."
"Correct. However, Seance you have to know why he's a bit overbearing at this moment. Do you want to explain a little on why you're so afraid to go back? Give us an insight?"
The Klaus that she came to meet loved helping people in his own weird ways. It may have backfired on him many times in the past but that's never stopped him before. That included going along with Reginald to help him reconcile with the family. And officially introducing Five to Cielo. His help was a catalyst for so many events that they barely registered it until after the fact.
"Why should I? What can I even do? They wouldn't even believe me."
"How can you think that? Of course they would!" Luther took a step forward that she had to signalled for him not to come any closer.
"Why me?" Klaus cowardly shrunk behind Cielo. "I've always been the drunk, sorry excuse for a brother. How many times did I say something that got ignored solely because I sound crazy? Now I'm supposed to tell them that our psychotic dad is actually an alien who wants to reset the universe with his magical hotel? Not after I so stupidly believed that he changed."
Luther took a step back when his brother started to hit his head as if to punish his brain. "You were all telling me. I shouldn't have trusted that asshole. He suicided in our timeline because he wanted us to be friends again. He kept me in the graveyard the same as when I was a kid. I should have known after he killed me the first time. You were all right! I'm just your stupid brother that can't be left alone! Even if I went back, I would only be deadweight. As always."
Cielo turned her head away when the larger of the two pulled him into a hug. This is what was needed for the family. Not to save the world but for themselves. They all needed to be heard and vent out their frustrations. The world they lived in was a cruel one that they can't help but be upset all the time. It was only when they actually stopped to listen to each other that they could truly be together.
"I'm sorry Klaus. I'm sorry." He remembered Cielo's words just a few moments ago. She was right. While he wasn't like their alien murderous dad, he was nowhere near someone that his siblings could rely on. He just assumed that they would go along with him and his personality. But they were different people. Even with similar circumstances, they all grew up with different memories and experiences that separated them.
Luther knew he made mistakes with Viktor that he forgot all about Klaus. The drugs were a means of escape. But with the constant overdose and the lack of care that Klaus gave to his body, Luther had come to not care just the same. He was blind to it all until his literal death. He had to earn the trust of his brother back after years worth of ignorance.
"Klaus since we were kids I looked down on you. You never took missions, or anything for that matter, seriously. When you started doing drugs it got worse. I always thought that the treatment dad gave you was a given. I should have- I could have heard you out more. Your powers were so different from all of us, I can't imagine how it must have felt and I never thought about it. As num- as your brother I should have cared for you more. All of you more. I'm sorry." Pulling back, Luther sat on his knees with his head down.
"Luther... I know that what dad did to us was what we considered normal. But in a lot of ways, I still looked up to you for being the one at the front. Big, ol' Luther with a back so hairy and bulky that I felt that nothing could hurt us. When I remember the way you guys looked at me, I remind myself of how alone I am. Even ghostie Ben would leave me if I wasn't quite literally his only tether line to the living. I don't blame any of you for not being able to stand up to dad."
The two sat on the floor to take in everything that they've experienced. It was one thing to be upset and start screaming at each other. It was another when they both came to the understanding that both were imperfect.
"Still, I'm sorry. And you're not at fault for what happened with dad. Putting a barrier between him and I was the hardest thing I've ever done. There will always be a part of me that looks at him like a dad. The only reason why I refused to fall for it this time was because he abandoned us again for the Sparrows. This wasn't our dad. And because he wasn't ours he played on that to convince you that he was different. He was the one to take your hope in him to his advantage. It wasn't because you were lesser than him or the rest of us."
"And what if I go back there and it happens all over again? I fell into his trap once; I can do it again."
"No you won't Klaus. The fact that you're preparing yourself to be tricked again means that you're not going to listen this time. You're stronger than this. Than him. And you won't be alone. Our family, our siblings, they've suffered like the both of us, they'll help you. You may not see the good you can do in yourself but I know they'll see it. Better than I ever did."
It was weird to see Luther like this. He always stood so tall and strong in front of everyone. Their number one was admitting his mistakes and apologizing for him. And Klaus couldn't lie that it felt almost warm to see. That his brother could put aside his pride to say everything he needed to hear. Above all, Klaus didn't need to be the hero that saved the world. He just wanted to have a purpose and helping those closest to him felt right.
"This kind of serious talk doesn't suit us." He sniffled with a small laugh.
"It really doesn't." They both started laughing when they fully looked into each other's eyes. When did they become so big when it was like yesterday that they lived in rooms next to each other?
"Okay fine you big lug you won me over. But I don't even know if I can get back, I mean, who knows where they even went."
"Klaus, this is your house. You just said it. You... are the king of death."
"Oh, that's a little grandiose. I mean, I prefer to think of myself as...the Prince of Darkness. Ooooooo." Luther looked back at Cielo as his brother imitated a theremin. She waved it off to let him have his fun.
"Okay okay, Prince of darkness, sure. Anyways, I believe in you, brother. You can do anything."
"Yeah, you're right. I'm immortal. This is my home and I'm going to show dear old Regi whose boss!"
"Yeah!" The two high fived in cheer. "How do I do that though?"
"I think I can help with that." She squatted between the two of them to finally join their conversation. "You know your powers are pretty interesting Seance. When you got shot in the chest, you didn't solely come back to life, you regenerated. Not only that but in the past you were able to give Horror a body in order to fight. If you can combine the two, your ghost body and regeneration, it may not be impossible to move you somewhere completely different from where you died."
The two slowly nodded. Out of the three she was the one with the brains to come with something this outlandish. "I think I can do that. I have a lot of time to try. Okay, now how do I find them?"
"When Copycat and Kraken found Oblivion it was the exact same as the hotel yet backwards. Consider everything to be the opposite. A world where a parent doesn't care for their children. Bells are in the grounds. And adults are nothing but children. Oblivion's entrance was so close to where you passed that you have a small form of connection to it. In theory you can go back and slightly shift where you land to the only remaining place. That should be Oblivion. But if this works, can you pass along a message to Five for me?"
"Yeah of course. Should I deliver a kiss with it too?" She cracked a small smile, shaking her head. There was a lot that she wanted to say to Five. Her death was so sudden after experiencing an amazing time together. Yet saying any more about her personal feelings through Klaus while they were stuck in Oblivion wasn't right.
Her heavy hand landed on the tv. The image started to flicker. The two accidentally watched as Reginald stabbed Cielo straight through the stomach. "That's up to you. Just... just tell him to keep his arms close to himself. He was always reaching for things out of his reach."
The two didn't comment on her last message. It wasn't the cutesy, lovey, dovey message that they were expecting. They would have loved to hear her confess something more sweet though. For the sake of their grieving older brother too. Same as how they wanted to help everyone, they both wanted to help Five get some form of closure to her death. Their plan had to work.
"Are you sure that we can find them based on opposites and guesses alone?"
"At Commission it was one of my responsibilities to direct members onto the field." The tv screen showed the day the two met with a fateful umbrella offer in the rain. "I can find your family. I always do."
Dying wasn't anything new. Now that Klaus was more aware that he was dying, it was kind of easy to come back to life. He owed some of that thanks to his father for how many times he got murdered by him. Including this time that he wished was his last time. The old man didn't even care when they reunited. All he did was smash some lamp on the back of his head to knock him out again. Sucks for him that he literally trained him to be the biggest thorn in his dad's side.
It was worth it when he saw his siblings slowly enter the lobby and take in his revival. They were glad to see him alive. And it wasn't just the oh thank goodness you aren't dead sort of reaction. It was more so that they were happy to see him. The difference being that they wanted him here. He was happy that he came back to save them.
"Klaus, we thought you were dead."
"Yes, yes, I'm alive and amazing, despite Dad's attempts to bash my brains in, but tearful reunions later. What you guys need to know right now is that," he took a dramatic break, "Dad killed Luther and Cielo."
They all froze. "How do you know this?"
"Oh it was this whole ordeal in the afterlife. Sloane, your husband wouldn't stop nagging me to come save you all. And he very much wanted me to tell you that he loves you." She started to tear up.
"What about Cielo? Did she say anything to you? Anything important?" Five nearly grabbed his brother at the chance to somewhat reconnect with her.
"Ah I didn't understand what she meant. She was the one that got me here but she was saying that it was based on opposites. About how parents would hate their kids and bells in the ground. I don't know. Oh and that you should keep your arms close. That's her special message to you."
"Arms close? Bells in the ground?" Five looked around seeing a small platform above them.
Klaus ignored Five starting to look around to continue everything he came to say. "Not only did Dad kill the two, he also locked me out of the tunnel, and he rang that stupid bell!"
That was the final straw. All the members, minus Five, turned to the monocle wearing man. "What's your plan now old man?"
"We don't have time for this." He didn't even try to explain himself to them.
"You killed Luther!" The members tried to find the logic in the man's mind but couldn't reason with him. He was too absorbed in resetting the universe. Nothing that his children said to him was getting through.
On the other hand, Five was determined to understand what Cielo's words meant. She wasn't around when Reginald was explaining the legend of the seven bells yet those were the words she chose.
Briefly he remembered all the times she made comments that didn't make a lot of sense. A typo in his equation, a sparrow stealing his briefcase, calling Ben number 2 and many more. Each one actually having a meaning. Now that he knew more of her history, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that she was knowledgeable about multiple timelines. She probably didn't even realize her words had meaning. Speaking in riddles as her memories were trying to come out.
Five placed his hands on the railing. There was no sign of the sigil being high up. Unless she meant a higher floor? But it was the first part of her message that he had to listen to. Opposites. Parents were supposed to care for their children. His didn't, so bells were not high up. They were in the ground. Looking down he ignored his family members, seeing something stand out on the floor. Seven stars.
"Guys! I found the sigils!" He stopped when a light flashed his eyes. His attention drifted to the broken watch on his wrist. The final part of her message ringing in his head. He took a step back from the railing, keeping his arms close to his body as possible.
Before he could continue announcing his discovery, the sound of glass shattering above his head shocked them all. A sickle cut right in front of his face. All the air leaving his lungs at how close it was to cutting him.
The final guardian landed on the ground floor. Five fell backwards at his near death experience. Any closer to the railing and that metal weapon would have gotten a clean cut at him. He chuckled, staring down at his attached limbs holding her watch. "No matter where or when, still my ally as ever."
Returning to the railing, he watched for a moment as they fought the final guardian. His first instinct was to go down there to help out but his gaze turns to his dad. The man that killed Cielo, Luther, Klaus, and forced them to come here. It filled him with rage that he could stand there without any remorse while they kept fighting.
His siblings that he couldn't abandon kept going. Even Allison. She teamed up with their dad to kill everyone. He cared about Allison. After all of this he knew that if she died, he would mourn for her the same as he did in the past. He spent so much of his life caring for her that he couldn't stop now. But he couldn't control that he lost another that he loved because of her actions.
"Hi Five." He didn't have to turn around to recognize her voice. He focused on Luther standing in front of Sloane. Klaus not too far away with his hand glowing.
"You really are dead." He said to confirm with himself.
"I am. It's really weird. I wouldn't recommend it. Your brothers have been keeping me company though so it isn't too bad."
"Being with Luther and Klaus for the rest of your afterlife sounds awful." He tightened his grip on the railing. He refused to turn around knowing that the tears he was holding back would flood out. "What do I now?"
"About the guardian or about your family?"
"Both. Cielo I can't... I already gave up... And because of me... Allison killed you." His voice was nothing but a whisper.
Her arms went around his body from behind. She placed her hands over his. Resting her chin on the top of his head, he remembered that it had only been a few hours since he took in her death. He wasn't ready to do it again. This form of her barely had any of her warmth left no matter how much he tried to picture it.
"I was the one who left you in the ballroom to seek out Monocle. I got involved in a battle too big for my own good. You knew that was the case when we met. I left you, don't blame the others."
"You want me to save them. Tell them where the sigils are." Luther started to fade as did she. Five kept his eyes down on the sigils practically calling to him.
"I want you to live your life without guilt. You already saved me multiple times. At some point I was going to die. Just happened a bit later than planned. If helping you protect your family is the last thing I do with this life, then I'm happy. I want you to be happy. Don't blindly hate them. What you do next is up to you." She gave him a final kiss on the tear drop that slid down his face. Then she was gone again. Not a single trace left behind.
It took all of his power to pull air back into his lungs. He didn't want any more fighting, betrayals, or deaths. The only thing he wanted was to save those he cared about. While he still had them.
"The sigils are in the lobby floor! It's the stars!"
"Children, find a star on the sigil! Stand on it!"
The old alien did it. While they were grateful that it meant that Luther came back to life and Diego had all his fingers, the celebration wasn't long lived. From what they could tell the universe was entirely reset. No Kugelblitz and no powers. None of them knew what it meant or why.
In the confusion, they all immediately came up with different goals. Luther had to find his wife with Klaus following after him as a precaution. Diego and Lila went to start a new life. Ben being the social outcast swore at them, and disappeared. Thus leaving only Viktor and Five together to decide what to do next.
Unfortunately for Viktor, Five already knew where he was going next to find things out. "Wait Five! Where are you going?"
"To find Cielo."
His shoulders dropped hearing how broken his brother was. They had lost their powers and the first thing he wanted was to find her. The same as Luther. "You don't even know if she's still alive."
"You don't understand Viktor. Cielo is a being that exists practically outside of Time. She wouldn't go down easily. She's out there. I'll find her. We always find each other." At this point he tried once more to blink. To no avail. He'll take the long route. In the end, he had to find her.
On the other side of the city, two more Hargervees kept their eyes on the park. It didn't surprise either of them that all of them managed to survive the reset. Though there was nothing they could do now. They were powerless in the ideal world their dad dreamed for decades.
"It seems that the children have finally arrived." Abigail nodded before stepping away from the window. Reginald was confused until he saw her head into the side room of his laboratory. She often watched over the woman in the comatose state.
"You already reset the universe. Why do you keep this girl around?" His lover asked.
"While she was a very nosy child, inside her mind are all the secrets that the universe holds. If she ever awakens from this state she will be a valuable asset or my biggest downfall. For now, all she has to do is remain in my care."
Lying in a frozen state was a woman in a hospital gown. The wound to the stomach patched up and otherwise healthy. The multiple monitors on her vitals were proof of that. But despite all the medical knowledge put into her, she has not awakened for years. Having the time anomaly known as Cielo Cavallone was going to be Reginald's greatest weapon.
A/N: Small note but this story will be on hiatus until after season 4 gets released so see you then!
