"A NEW ERA BEGINS: MINISTER PEVERELL'S REFORMS SHAKE THE MINISTRY TO ITS CORE"
By Rita Skeeter
The Ministry of Magic is abuzz with activity as sweeping reforms under the newly appointed Minister for Magic, Lord Hadrian Ignotus Peverell, begin to take shape. Yesterday, the first meeting of the new department heads was held, and the changes announced have already sent shockwaves through wizarding Britain.
Minister Peverell's vision for a transparent, efficient, and accountable Ministry marks a stark departure from the corruption and complacency of previous administrations. His policies are bold, his leadership decisive, and his expectations uncompromising.
During the meeting, Minister Peverell outlined a series of measures designed to overhaul the Ministry from top to bottom:
Weekly Reports:All department heads are now required to submit detailed weekly updates directly to the Minister's office. These reports will include financial expenditures, progress on key initiatives, and any challenges faced by their teams.
Randomized Audits:To prevent corruption from taking root again, each department will undergo surprise audits conducted by an independent oversight committee.
Policy Overhaul:Outdated laws such as the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery are being reviewed for inherent biases against Muggle-borns and half-bloods.
Increased Budgets:Departments critical to public welfare—such as Magical Law Enforcement, Magical Transportation, and Hogwarts—have received significant budget increases to improve efficiency and services.
Policy Revisions:Outdated laws like the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery are being reviewed to eliminate inherent biases against Muggle-borns and half-bloods.
Lady Amelia Bones, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement (DMLE), expressed her confidence in the new administration: "These reforms are long overdue. Minister Peverell's approach ensures that justice and fairness will be at the heart of our governance."
Arthur Weasley, newly appointed Head of Magical Transportation, shared his optimism: "This is a chance to modernize our systems and bridge gaps between magical and non-magical communities. I'm honored to be part of this transformation."
Even Albus Dumbledore, Chief Warlock and Hogwarts representative, praised the reforms: "This marks the beginning of a new chapter for wizarding Britain—one that values equality and integrity above all else."
"He's done more in a week than most Ministers accomplish in years," said one supporter outside Gringotts Bank. "But power is dangerous—let's hope he uses it wisely."
Far away from the bustling streets of Diagon Alley and the glittering halls of the Ministry, an ancient fortress loomed under a sky heavy with storm clouds. Deep within its stone walls sat an old man whose presence radiated an unsettling aura. His heterochromatic eyes—one a piercing blue, the other a molten gold—glimmered with intelligence and latent power. Around him, the air seemed alive with dark energy, coiling like serpents waiting to strike.
He held a copy ofThe Daily Prophetin his pale hands, his gaze fixed on the headline announcing Hadrian Peverell's reforms. A faint smile curled his lips—not one of amusement but something far more sinister.
"Ambition," he murmured softly, his voice like silk laced with venom. "How easily it blinds them."
The room seemed to darken as he set the paper aside and leaned back in his chair. His fingers drummed lightly against the armrest as he contemplated what this meant for him—and for his plans.
For years, he had waited patiently in this prison-turned-sanctuary, conserving his strength and watching from afar as others rose and fell. Now, another figure had entered the stage—a figure tied to ancient bloodlines and immense power.
The old man closed his eyes briefly, reaching deep into his magical core where centuries of knowledge and ambition lay dormant. He felt it stir—the dark force within him awakening like a sleeping dragon roused from slumber.
"This… Peverell," he whispered darkly. "He may yet prove useful—or he may need to be removed."
As thunder rolled outside the fortress walls, he rose slowly from his chair, his movements deliberate despite his age. The storm gathering around him mirrored the storm within—a force that could reshape everything if unleashed.
For now, he would wait—but not for long.
While all this happening our resident minister is preparing for his date and taken a leave from ministry. The dining room at Peverell Manor was a picture of elegance. A long, polished table was set with fine silverware and crystal glasses, illuminated by the soft glow of enchanted candles floating above. Harry stood near the window, dressed in dark robes tailored to perfection, his emerald eyes scanning the grounds outside. The wards surrounding the manor shimmered faintly in the distance, a testament to their strength and complexity.
Timmy, Harry's loyal house-elf, appeared with a softpop. "Master Hadrian, Miss Lily Potter has arrived," he said, bowing low.
Harry turned, a faint smile gracing his lips. "Thank you, Timmy. Please escort her in."
Moments later, Lily entered the room. She wore a simple yet elegant Red dress that matched her auburn hair which fell in soft waves over her shoulders. For a moment, Harry was struck silent by her presence.
"Hadrian," she greeted warmly, her voice carrying a hint of nervousness. "This place is… beautiful."
Harry stepped forward, offering his hand to guide her to the table. "I'm glad you could make it," he said sincerely. "Please, sit."
As they sat down to dinner, Timmy served them a delicious meal of roasted pheasant with herb sauce, accompanied by fresh vegetables and warm bread rolls. The atmosphere was relaxed yet charged with an unspoken tension—both seemed aware that this evening was more than just a casual dinner.
"You've had quite the week," Lily began after a sip of wine, her voice tinged with curiosity and admiration. "Two duels in one day—and now you're leading the Ministry through reforms that most people wouldn't even dare attempt."
Harry chuckled lightly but shook his head. "It's been… overwhelming, to say the least. But it had to be done. The Ministry was falling apart under Fudge's leadership—and if we didn't act quickly, it would've dragged wizarding Britain down with it."
Lily nodded thoughtfully. "You've shown incredible strength—not just in magic but in leadership. I don't think many people could handle what you've taken on."
Harry smiled faintly but looked away for a moment as if gathering his thoughts. "It's not just about strength," he said quietly. "It's about responsibility—about doing what's right, even when it's difficult."
Lily studied him carefully, her expression softening. "You remind me of someone I used to know," she said quietly, almost wistfully.
Harry tilted his head slightly, curious but hesitant to press further. "Who?"
She hesitated before replying with a small smile, "Someone who believed in doing what was right—no matter the cost."
Just as Harry was about to respond, the lights flickered ominously before going out completely. The enchanted candles above them extinguished as if snuffed out by an unseen force, plunging the room into darkness.
Harry immediately stood, his wand drawn in an instant as he scanned the room for any signs of danger. The protective wards around Peverell Manor had been breached—something that should have been impossible.
"Stay close to me," Harry said firmly as he stepped toward Lily.
Lily rose from her seat, her wand at the ready as well. "What's happening?" she asked sharply.
Before Harry could answer, a chilling wind swept through the room, carrying with it an unnatural silence that seemed to press against their ears.
The grounds of Peverell Manor were eerily silent, the darkness pressing in like a suffocating shroud. The protective wards had been breached, and the flickering lights from the manor's windows revealed figures moving in the shadows—Death Eaters. Their masks glinted ominously as they spread out across the lawn, their wands raised and ready for battle.
Harry stood at the edge of the grand staircase leading down to the gardens, Shadowfang glowing faintly in his hand. Beside him, Lily gripped her wand tightly, her emerald eyes scanning the scene with sharp focus.
"They've broken through," Harry said grimly, his voice low but steady. "There are too many to hold back inside the manor—we'll have to fight them out here."
Lily nodded resolutely. "I'm with you."
The first volley of spells came without warning—blinding jets of green and red light streaking toward them from all directions. Harry reacted instantly, raising Shadowfang and castingProtego Maxima. A shimmering dome of silver light erupted around them, deflecting the curses harmlessly into the air.
"Split up!" Harry shouted as he dropped the shield and charged forward into the fray.
Lily darted to the right, her wand flicking as she castExpulso, sending a group of Death Eaters sprawling backward with a deafening explosion. She followed up withStupefy, her movements quick and precise as she incapacitated two more attackers.
Harry moved like a storm through the chaos, his mastery of non-verbal magic allowing him to cast spells with terrifying speed. He disarmed one Death Eater withExpelliarmus, immobilized another withIncarcerous, and sent three more flying with a powerfulBombarda Maxima.
From among the throng of Death Eaters emerged Lucius Malfoy, his pale face twisted into a sneer beneath his mask. He raised his wand and fired aCruciatus Cursedirectly at Harry.
Harry sidestepped effortlessly, his emerald eyes locking onto Lucius with cold fury. "You shouldn't have come here," he said icily before castingDiffindo. The severing charm sliced through Lucius's robes, forcing him to retreat momentarily.
Lucius snarled in frustration and summoned three Death Eaters to flank him. Together, they unleashed a barrage of curses aimed at Harry, who countered with a combination ofProtegoandTempus Fractura. Time seemed to ripple around him as he slowed their movements just enough to dodge their attacks and strike back with precision.
On the far side of the grounds, Lily found herself surrounded by six Death Eaters. Her wand moved in intricate patterns as she transfigured the ground beneath them into jagged spikes that erupted upward, forcing them to scatter in panic.
"Not so easy when you can't stand still," she muttered under her breath before castingPetrificus Totaluson two of them simultaneously.
One Death Eater managed to get close enough to fire a Killing Curse at her—but Lily dropped to the ground just in time, rolling away and retaliating withReducto. The curse struck him squarely in the chest, sending him flying backward into a tree.
As more Death Eaters converged on Harry's position near the fountain at the center of the gardens, one of them unleashed Fiendfyre—a monstrous inferno that roared to life in the shape of a serpent, its flames consuming everything in its path.
Harry's grip tightened on Shadowfang as he raised it high above his head. "Enough!" he shouted before castingAbsorptio Ignis. The runes on Shadowfang flared brilliantly as he drew the Fiendfyre toward himself, condensing it into a glowing orb that hovered above his blade before dissipating entirely.
The remaining Death Eaters hesitated for a moment—fear flickering in their eyes—but Lucius barked orders for them to press forward.
Harry turned back toward Lily just in time to see her disarm another Death Eater withExpelliarmusbefore stunning him withStupefy. She was holding her own—but they were still outnumbered.
"Lily!" Harry called out as he raised Shadowfang again and castConfringoat a group of attackers closing in on her position. The explosion sent them scattering like leaves in a storm.
Together, Harry and Lily advanced toward Lucius Malfoy, their combined spells cutting through waves of attackers with relentless precision.
Lucius tried one last desperate attack—a Killing Curse aimed directly at Harry—but Shadowfang intercepted it effortlessly, absorbing the energy into its blade.
Harry stepped forward and disarmed Lucius with a swift flick of his wrist before binding him with magical chains usingIncarcerous.
"This ends now," Harry said coldly as he turned toward the remaining Death Eaters.
Seeing their leader captured and their forces decimated, the surviving Death Eaters began retreating into the darkness—Disapparating one by one until only silence remained.
Harry lowered Shadowfang slowly, his breathing heavy but controlled as he turned back toward Lily.
"Are you alright?" he asked softly.
Lily nodded, though her hands trembled slightly from adrenaline. "I'm fine," she replied quietly before offering him a faint smile. "You were incredible."
Harry smiled faintly but didn't reply immediately—his thoughts already turning toward what this attack meant for their future.
As Timmy appeared to begin repairing the damaged wards around Peverell Manor, Harry and Lily stood together under the moonlight—silent but resolute.
The battle was over for now—but they both knew that darker forces were still watching from afar.
The grounds of Peverell Manor were scarred but quiet once more, the only signs of the recent battle being scattered debris and the faint scent of smoke lingering in the air. Harry and Lily stood together, their wands still at the ready as they surveyed the aftermath. The Death Eaters had retreated, leaving behind several of their number either stunned or bound by magical chains.
Just as they were catching their breath, the sound of Apparition echoed across the lawn. Aurors from the Ministry of Magic began to materialize, their wands drawn and their eyes scanning the area for any remaining threats. Amelia Bones, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, stepped forward, her expression a mix of concern and frustration.
"Minister Peverell," she said firmly, "I apologize for the delay in our response. We received your distress signal late due to a malfunction in our alert system."
Harry's gaze narrowed slightly, though his voice remained controlled. "I expect a full explanation for this delay, Director Bones. The Ministry's response time is crucial in situations like this."
Amelia nodded gravely. "I understand, Minister. I will personally oversee an investigation into this matter and ensure that our systems are upgraded to prevent such lapses in the future."
Rufus Scrimgeour, Head Auror, stepped forward next. "We will take custody of the captured Death Eaters and begin interrogations immediately. Lucius Malfoy will be held for questioning regarding his involvement with these attacks."
Harry nodded curtly. "See that it's done. And, Director Bones, I want a detailed report on your desk by tomorrow morning regarding the security breach and the response delay."
Amelia inclined her head. "It will be done, Minister."
As the Aurors began to take the prisoners into custody, Harry turned to Lily. "Let's get inside. We have a lot to discuss—and Timmy I think it's time we increased security around the manor."
Lily nodded in agreement, her eyes still scanning the shadows as if expecting another attack.
Together, they walked back toward the manor, the darkness of the night seeming to press in around them once more.
Inside the manor, Timmy was already busy repairing the damaged wards and lighting the candles once more. The atmosphere was tense but controlled as Harry and Lily sat down in the study, their conversation turning to the implications of the attack and the steps they needed to take to ensure their safety.
The night ahead would be long, filled with strategy and planning. But for now, they sat together, their wands laid aside but their vigilance never truly relaxed.
