Family Can Come As If By Magic

Chapter 5

After putting Sofia down for a much needed nap and finding out from Madeline that Amber was punish for her behavior, Cedric sighs in relief at the that fact the bratty princess was punished for making his little girl cry, and hurting her own sister Madeline, who was defending Sofia from Amber's bullying and when he got the full story from Madeline, it made him want to hex Amber, but he stopped himself as he reminded himself that, she was just a child and that children can be cruel to eachother at times, not that it made it any better or okay.

He was startle out of his thoughts by another knock on his door and when he opens the door, he was greeted by a grim faced King and Queen with a pouting Princess standing between them.

"Good Afternoon Cedric, may we come in?" Queen Lorelei asked softly as she forces Amber to follow them inside as Cedric stood aside to let them in and closed the door after they came in and with a shh gesture, he explained.

"Sofia is asleep so please keep your voices down."

Rolan and Lorelei nodded as Amber stayed silent sulking.

"We came to apologize for our daughter's improper behavior towards Sofia and you have our word that it will not happen again."

Cedric looks at them with a unreadable expression as he tried to form his next words carefully.

"I am not the one who needs apologizing too and I would like to be from Princess Amber to Sofia and Madeline as well if she can't do that, then I will not allow Sofia to interact with her alone until she understands that her hurtful words have consequences."

The Royal Parents looked at each other with a sad understanding and nodding their acceptance.

Amber scowls at the thought of having to apologize to the peasant girl and her annoying younger sister, but she knew that both her parents and her brother James would be highly disappointed in her, and her parents might ground her for longer then 2 weeks for "being downright cruel to both her sister and her friend." and James did want to be around right now so he was avoiding her like the plague in his room.

Cedric sighs and goes to get Sofia up from her short nap and hopefully put this whole mess behind them, but he had a feeling that Amber was going to be trouble for Sofia, and her friendship with her younger sister, Madeline might it worse, so he would have to keep an sharp eye out just in case.

He quietly opens the door to the child's new room, which was still pretty bare with only a bed, desk and chest and small nightstand with a simple lantern that he turned on before gently rubbing the girl's back and saying softly.

"Sofia, my dear it's time to wake up, we have visitors downstairs that want to see you."

Sofia groans, but opens her eyes and yawns when she sees her Papa, she sleeply smiles and reaches up for him, making the man smile alittle before picking her up and walks out of the room and down the stairs to where he had left the Royals waiting.

"Aww! She is so darling!" Queen said to the King who was smiling alittle the sweet picture his sorcerer and his daughter presenced, but Amber just sneers at them, scoffing at her parents words.

Sofia who was still sleepy, but stiffens when she sees the older princess standing there with scowl on her face and squirms to be put down, which Cedric did and Sofia quickly ducks behind the sorcerer's dark purple robes.

"Sofia, please come out and say hello to our guests."

Cedric tries to pull the girl out from behind her hiding place only to met with air as the girl ducks around his hands and goes under his robes from behind, making the man yelp in surprise, before he sighs and quickly unties his robe and shakes it off, letting it pile ontop of the girl, which made it look like she was playing dress up with it.

Rolan was snickering as he watched Cedric and Sofia unintentionly mess around and when he saw Sofia wear Cedric's robe, she was so cute.

Blinking at the sudden light, Sofia looks to see that she was wearing her Papa's robes and says with a smile.

"Look Papa, I am sorcerer like you!"
Cedric chuckles and gently corrects Sofia

"It's Sorcereress for girls, sweetheart and I must say you would make a fine one someday with enough practice."

"Really?" Sofia look into her Papa's dark brown eyes which were full of love and kindness.

"Really, now say hello, please."

Sofia quickly turns to where the Royal trio was still standing and gives them a polite curtsy which looked akward in Cedric's large robes, but she manage.

Amber just crosses her arms and gives the girl another scowl as her parents returned the gesture.

"We came to apologize for Amber's unbecoming behavior towards you and hope that you will not hold a grudge against Madeline or James because of this." King Rolan looks at the girl he started to view a niece of sorts.

Sofia nods in understanding and says...

"I just wanted to be them all to be my friends."

Amber stares at Sofia in mild shock at her words.

"Really?" Amber spoke for the first time since she had been here.

"Yes, I haven't been with other girls in village all that much since my mama's...will you know and when I met you and Madeline, I thought you both were really pretty and kind to me."

Amber smiles at the praise, but her smile was quickly replaced with a frown as she remembers her mean words and cruel pulling of her sister's hair, just because she was jealous of this girl, who got all of her younger sister and brother's attention.

"I am sorry that I said those mean things to you and I will apologize to my sister after I leave and I would like to be your friend, if you'll have me?"

Amber puts her hand out towards Sofia in friendship.

Cedric was shocked, but relieved when the feeling he had about Amber be trouble was wrong and that she could see the error of her ways.

"Yes!" Sofia cries out happily wrapping Amber in a tight hug while still in Cedric's large robes as both girls starting laughing and talking a mile a minute as if they have been friends for years, ignoring the amused and relieved parents as the faiths of friendships of their four children started to blossom become brighter.

Cedric looks the Royal Parents and said with a smile.

"I guess this is the start of some beautiful friendships."

"Why don't you move Sofia into Tilly's old bedroom, it's much bigger and I won't take no for answer, you both apart of this family and family deserves the best." King Rolan said firmly, seeing the of shock on Cedric's face he decided to explain further.

"Sofia will need her space when she is older and think of this way, you don't have to worry about her getting in things here and you don't have to change your workshop or give up any storage space."

It took a moment for Cedric to respond, but when he looked down at Sofia, he smiles and said.

"Thank you, Rolan, I am sure that Sofia will love it."

"I will love what Papa?" Sofia asked as she heard her name so she came over to Cedric.

"The King has offered you a bedroom that has more space for you to sleep and play in, what do you think?"

"Can I see it now." Sofia said excited at the thought of having a real princess room, making all the others chuckle at her reaction.

"Yes we can." King Rolan said as put his hand out for Sofia to take.

The growing family all walked out of tower and down a short hallway and stood in front of a large door

The King opens the door and Sofia runs into and gasps in shock at how large it was and saw the very big bed and tried to climb up it, but because she was so small, she couldn't until Cedric pulled out his wand and got rid of the legs so that Sofia can get into it easier.

When Sofia finally got up onto the bed she kicked off her shoes and started to jump on the bed, soon being joined by Amber and pretty soon a curious Madeline came in and after a brief explaination was soon joining her older sister and her now younger cousin in jumping on the bed.

After that day, the room was painted purple and had all the toys Sofia could possibly dream of and Cedric was just happy that his daughter was happy and that all that mattered.
