Family Can Come As If By Magic

Chapter 18

For Sofia starting a new school wasn't easy, but she enjoy the challenge and she was loving learning all things about magic and what you can and can't use it for and what rules and laws are there to prevent magic from being used for the wrong reasons.

When Sofia first started, she was terrifed that she wasn't going to make any friends, but thankfully she found friend in, Athena, who like her lost her mother and went to go live with her father, she was abit dazed at times, but very smart, so smart that it scared, Sofia sometimes, when she knew something out of nowhere.

But for the most part they enjoyed eachother's company and even had a few sleepovers at eachothers homes and had a blast.

The only annoyance for them was Ivy Venenum and her co-bully Jene Solani and her crew of Poison, who was always trying to get them in trouble, with the teachers or make the other students hate them.

The teachers for the most part didn't always believe them and while the students were wary of them, so unless they were brave enough to stand up to them, they mostly left the toxic duo alone.

Athena and Sofia for the most part were having a blast leaning about everything magic and the history behind it, so they were mostly found in the library of Hexley Hall, until lunchtime studying and laughing quietly.

When the lunch bell rang they put their books away into their bags and left for the lunch room and got to a empty table and started to eat their packed lunches that their fathers made for them.

"What are you doing at our table."

Sofia sighs looks to the side to see Ivy, Jene and their crew of Posion, seeing how by pure coincidences that their last names are a type of posionest herb or plant.

"It doesn't have your name on it, so make like a fly and buzz off." Athena replied not looking up from her book that she took out again to check and only looks up when a hand slams down on it and was face to face with a ticked off Ivy.

"What did you say to me, freak?" Ivy hissed in fury.

Athena said nothing and simply without warning slams the book shut onto Ivy's hand, making the girl yelp in pain.

"Let's go, Athena." Sofia said taking the now glaring girl and lead them out of the lunch room and went straight for the library, the only place that Ivy and her friends wouldn't dare enter.

"Let's be perpared to face the Headmaster, he might not take kindly to me injuring a student, even if Ivy deserved it the little-"

"Athena!" Sofia cuts off her friend's rant and gave her a warning looking.

Athena sighs and tries to calm down her temper as her father has taught her.

"Sofia and Athena, the Headmaster would like to speak with you, please." A teacher said from behind them.

"Yes ma'am."

The two girls followed the teacher and saw Ivy sitting on one of the benches out the Headmaster's office glaring at them hatefully, while holding a small ice pack on her hand.

"The Headmaster will see you now." A secretary said as she was busying writing on large piles of paper without looking up from her work.

Sofia and Athena walked inside and greeted the Headmaster Grimtrix.

"Headmaster." They said in almost perfect unison.

"Sofia, Athena, please have a seat."

They both took the only chairs in the office and sat down.

"Let's get down to business shall we, I heard from that you told to move to different a table, and when she didn't do so, Athena here slams a book onto her hand, but I want to hear your side of the story."

Sofia started to tell him in detail about what happened and how Ivy and Jene and her crew were harassing them and when Athena took them to go somewhere else and then ignored them onces more, Ivy got angry and slam her hand onto the book Athena was reading and threated her and called her a freak, which made Athena angry and made her slam the book down onto Ivy's hand and then Sofia drags an upset Athena to the library to cool off.

Grimtrix looks into Sofia's eyes and found only the truth in them and he knew that she was the victim of bullying.

"Sinces, this the first time you have been sent to my office, I will let you off with a warning, now excuse me, while I go deal with Ms. Ivy, heres a note for the teacher."

Sofia and Athena both leaving the office and go straight for their Runes class and gave the note to the teacher and got to work on understanding the formations and mathematics of it.

At recess, Sofia decided to go jump rope, while Athena wanted to do hopscotch and so they came with tricky way of playing both together and laughed at the ridiculous, but had fun trying it.

"Sofia!" "Athena!"

When the two turned to the voice that called their names they happily ran to their fathers and gave them a hug like always before heading home.

But before they could depart Sofia was hit with a lighting curse, making her howl in agony before passing out.

Cedric was there to catch his fallen daughter and turns to look at who had cast such a curse and was shocked to see a child standing there with her wand out and a smug look on her face as she was preparing to curse Athena, but the other girls father put up a protection bubble around all of them.

But before the girl could even cast once more, her wand was knocked out of her hand by a furious, Grimtrix.

"What is going here!?"

Ivy who was frozen in fear, started to tried explain her way out of this situation, but was quickly silence by Grimtrix.

"She cursed my daughter with a lighting curse and tried to the same with her friend." Cedric explained as he held his still unconscious child in his arms.

Grimtrix quickly freezes Ivy into place and goes over to where the cursed girl laid and did a medical scan, sighing in relief when he got the reselts.

"She was extremely lucky as the girl was not strong in magic so the curse simply knocked her out, take her home and have her rest for a few days and then she will be as right as rain. Now if you will excuse me I have contact 's parents and let them know that their daughter just has been expelled from Hexley Hall."

Cedric lets the breath he didn't know he had be holding and simply snuggle Sofia closer in his arms and looks at the other father and daughter, smiles sadly and goes towards the carriage, with the other two not far behind him.

The carriage ride was silent as Cedric just held Sofia protectively and ignores any attempt at chatting from Athena's father, Xenophilius and simply stares at out the window.

He was startled out of his daze by a knock on the carriage door and only just realize that they were home at last.

Leaving the carriage, Cedric carries Sofia up to their home and settles her into bed for the evening and not wanting to leaving her side for a moment he gently gets into her bed and hold her close and she responses by grabbing a fistful of his robes, he shed a few tears as the reality of the situation hits him and he vowed to teach Sofia to defend herself so that won't happen again and with that thought he quickly falls asleep.
