This took longer than I had anticipated.

Hello all, Grim here.

So, while I originally promised to combine Chapters 8 and 9, I didn't realize how monumental of a task that was going to be.

For context, the original Chapter 8 has 11 pages alone; add Chapter 9's 15 pages, and then add how much more writing is needed for the reactions. By the time I was starting to get to the 3/4 mark for Chapter 8, I was already at 35 pages...

So yeah, never doing that again.

Chapter 9's reaction will be worked on shortly; however, another reason why this chapter took as long as it did is because I really fucked up my left wrist. If I turn it or move it in a certain way, it feels like someone took a sledgehammer to my entire arm.

Also, because I wrote another one-shot when I needed a break from this. I hate plot bunnies, haha.

Go give it a read if you're interested. It's called "When the Knight turns Grey," a Star Wars/My Hero academia mashup. No, it's not going to be a full series at this current time; I have enough on my plate.

It also involves the Star Wars "Legends" lore (the actual Lore).

I'm not sure what I'm going to work on next. I may take a break and see what my x-rays say about my left wrist first, but it's going to be Bearer of the Light.

Chapter 10

CP8 - "Here there be Dragoons"

Shota Aizawa was a very rational man, often dealing with logic and facts that helped him be the underground hero that he is. He had read the files of all the students assigned to his class this year, and he noted a few that he would consider "problematic."

Four of which were on the top of his "shit list."

The Aizawa in the theater merely huffed to himself, his arms crossed over his chest as he could feel the eyes of his students all on him as if to say, 'Really?'. He merely glared back at them and ignored the looks being given not only by the mother of one of his students but also by the former number-one hero.

The first one was Shoto Todoroki, the son of Endeavor. His quirk was called "Half Hot, Half Cold," the ability to create and manipulate fire from the left half of his body while doing the same with ice on his right side. In his file, it was noted that during the recommendation tests, while he stated he could use his fire, he was adamant and refused to use it.

Naturally, Aizawa would immediately expel any student who purposely hinders their abilities, usually out of arrogance and unwillingness to put their all into it. Something in the back of his mind was telling him there was more to this, given that the teenager had a nasty-looking scar around his left eye, and the designs of his hero suit partially hid the entire left side of his body. Perhaps there were troubles at home? It was no secret that Endeavor was a… hard person… to get along with, even with him being the number two hero. Still, if something at home was preventing Shoto from using his fire, then perhaps time away from the flame hero could help, as well as allow the boy to open up more.

The whispers amongst his classmates only made Shouto glare up at the screen, trying to play off that he was ignoring the various questions that seemed to be asked between his fellow students as just what exactly the 'alternative world' version of their homeroom teacher was alluding to.

Admittedly, the tensions at home weren't as bad as they had been in the past, and Shouto was now visiting his mother at the hospital when his time allowed it. Even having Bakugou and Midoriya over for dinner that one time had been a highlight in his life, perhaps having his green-haired friend over again would be nice, and inviting Izuku's parents over would be an interesting time as well.

That and see if he can finally prove that All Might is his father, despite how Izuku constantly dismisses the notion.

The next one on his "list" was Katsuki Bakugou, a 'prodigy'. According to the files from his previous schools, he had excellent marks and nothing but praise from teachers, especially from his last high school.

Aizawa could smell bullshit coming off of the file. And apparently, Nezu had as well.

He remembered when he overheard the furry dean contact the boy's former high school and "kindly" asked them to retest him. When that was done, the test papers were given to Nezu to mark himself, and apparently, he was satisfied with how the teenager did. During the practical examinations, Aizawa noticed the manic smile and glee the boy had in destroying robots, ignoring all the other applicants, and just taking anything out. It was apparent that he had an ego, especially given the praise he probably got throughout his schooling. Had there been no attempts to curb his over-inflated ego? He would soon learn that he wasn't "top dog" here at UA and had hoped that the boy would figure that out sooner or later.

"Aizawa," Nezu spoke up as he brought his tiny hands together and leaned forward in his seat as the Class 1-A teacher looked towards the principal.

"Yes?"

"Remind me to look into this Aldera again when we get back home; I want to see who else besides Bakugou and Midoriya applied to our wonderful school and see if it isn't just those two whose records were… mishandled." Nezu's eyes gleamed brightly for a moment as he spoke, making both Aizawa and Toshinori shiver slightly while only making Inko tilt her head in confusion.

The third "problem child" was one Minoru Mineta. While his quirk had an interesting application of purple balls being thrown from his head and stuck to anything, it was the user himself that the tired-looking teacher had an issue with. There had been multiple incidents involving sexual harassment with former female classmates at his previous schools. However, it seemed to decline dramatically during his high school years. Possibly due to harsher punishments if he had kept up with what he pulled in middle school. But the boy looked like he had never trained his body at all, and if he couldn't keep up, then there was an extra spot in General Studies just waiting for him.

"That's slander!" Mineta suddenly rose from his chair and looked towards Grim, who was eerily silent, while the diminutive student pointed towards the hooded person. With all the girls looking at his disgust at Mineta, while some of the boys, even including Izuku, were squinting their eyes at him, "I never did-"

Only to be placed into a box similar to the one Bakugou had been placed before, silencing the "grape" as Grim remained quiet for a few moments before speaking in a low tone, "Before you try and weasel yourself out of anything, need I remind you of what you did during the USJ attack, Minoru Mineta? Or perhaps during the Sports Festival? Or more recently, the joint heroics class with 1-B?"

Now everyone, including the teachers, was glaring hard at Mineta, who shrunken into his little 'container' of silence before huffing and turning around and sitting back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting.

And finally, the last student on the list was Izuku Midoriya.

Where to start with such an enigma?

A teenager who only just got his quirk approximately one year prior and already had two cases of vigilantism under his belt. Normally, Aizawa wouldn't bat an eye at that as he had worked with some of the "nicer" vigilantes throughout his hero career. However, it was the fact that both times, All Might had vouched for the boy, allowing him to get off with only a warning each time. If Midoriya were an undercover sidekick to the number one hero, that would be one thing. But, the blonde pro hero hadn't taken any sidekicks in nearly six years after the supposed falling out with Sir Nighteye.

Then there were the boy's school records, dozens upon dozens of "black marks" that would have immediately put him out of any attempts to register even for the General Studies course. But half, if not all of them, didn't make sense, especially when one would notice that he was always in Bakugou's classes and how he always seemed to do remarkably poorer than the "prodigy."

Again, Aizawa called bullshit, and sure enough, he was right.

He had seen the written exam Midoriya had answered and nearly dropped his jelly drink. The green-haired boy had responded to everything so precisely and logically that he got an almost perfect score of ninety-five percent, and this was one of Nezu's tests that he would give graduating students as a final exam to make sure they were ready for the outside world of Pro Heroes.

Most of those averages were in the low fifties; even Aizawa only came out with a sixty-three when he was a UA student.

Then, the practical examination and how Midoriya acted and performed further solidified that the boy's school files were mishandled. When he had gone to Nezu after the exams were all graded and the letters sent out, he had asked what was to be done with Midoriya and his falsified school records.

Apparently, as always, the intelligent rodent was three steps ahead of the underground hero and informed him of what Midoriya had been up to since the sludge villain incident and his plans with the student's former high school. Nezu had bought the school's ownership and fired most of the teaching staff and the administration through some legal groundwork. Replacing the faculty were some other educators that Nezu could trust to run the school temporarily until proper permanent staff could be hired.

Everyone had remained silent up until this point, most being completely floored with what the Midoriya on screen had to deal with, with some of them looking towards their version, who had remained quiet himself, though the three women that were seated right next to the young teenager noticed just how tightly he was grasping the armrests as he kept watching the screen.

Even if he was without his quirk right now, there is no doubt that Izuku could rip off the cushions if he continued.

There was also the boy's mother, who now would be working at UA not only as Recovery Girl's assistant but also as Class 1-A's Dorm Manager. However, she decided to call herself "Dorm Mother" for whatever reason. When Aizawa had gone to meet her privately to discuss some of the basic rules and general maintenance areas of the rebuilt dorms, he found her to be quite pleasant, for the most part, a bit of a worrier. Given what he knew of Midoriya's past, he couldn't fault her for it. But there was a sense of danger about her as well, as Nezu had informed him in that meeting about Aldera that Inko had sued the former principal and the school board and many of the other teachers and faculty for gross negligence, child endangerment and discrimination charges. She won, possibly due to not only All Might's testimony when he had interrupted an attempt to put Midoriya in prison for the slime villain fiasco falsely but also the legal team UA had provided her.

When the judge had asked Inko Midoriya if she would grant any sort of leniency, Inko refused, asking why she should if they hadn't shown any compassion or mercy when her son was being tortured by not only his peers but by some of the staff themselves.

Aizawa learned reasonably quickly that day to never piss off Inko Midoriya.

Now, shocked gazes were looking towards Inko, who was fidgeting in her seat from the stares and blushing slightly just from how her counterpart had acted. Sure, would she have done the same? Of course! This was about her baby boy; after all, she would do anything in the world just to make sure he was happy.

However, the reminder that she hadn't believed in him or his dream of becoming a hero bubbled up to the top of her thoughts, and she was now looking down towards the floor on the verge of tears. Inko hadn't noticed that a figure had moved towards her, only to look up when she saw those very familiar red shoes of her son cross her vision and, in a choking gasp of breath, Inko gently asked, "I-Izuku?"

"Mom, it's alright…." Izuku spoke gently, moving to sit beside her in the one seat that was free within the row, his gnarled hand taking one of hers and holding it as he smiled at her, "I have a feeling I know what you're thinking about, and I also know you did it because you were worried about me. But it's fine, Mom; you were only trying to protect me, so please don't think about it anymore because I know you have my back and believe in me to be the hero I want to be."

"Oh Izuku…" Inko gently sniffed before two light blue handkerchiefs were presented to the pair by the weaver sitting close by.

"I hate to interrupt this moment, but you may wish to continue this discussion in a more… private setting later," Grim said while both Inko and Izuku noticed the continued gazes of everyone in the room staring at them, flustering the mother/son duo, before Izuku slowly made his way back to his seat, but not without giving Inko one last hug.

He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he began to think about the last issue about Midoriya that he knew would be a problem and rightly placed him at the top of his "shit list."

Midoriya's quirk made no goddamn sense.

It was called 'Manifest,' the boy could summon armor and weapons at will, and each had unique abilities tied to them. Even worse was that Nezu had explained to the tired teacher that he felt there would be even more forms that Midoriya could 'unlock' given the right circumstances, similar to what happened against the zero-pointer. So far, with the information provided to him by the Dean, the green-haired student had three 'kits':

"Um… I just noticed this now, but isn't Tamaki's quirk called 'Manifest'?" Izuku asked with a tilt of his head.

"Yes, and it would be addressed later in the story, but I didn't realize that his quirk was also called 'manifest'." Grim said with a gruff tone of voice and folded his arms over his chest, "But it also sets up for this Midoriya to meet the big three."

"So it was a happy accident?" Toshinori asked from the side of the weaver, who merely sighed gently.

"Pretty much, yeah."

Paladin: His first manifestation and more used of the current three kits in his arsenal. It came with a suit of armor, and he wielded a sword and shield, which he could somehow expertly wield. One of the boy's abilities was called "Clemency," which could heal various injuries, as seen with Ochako Uraraka. However, some abilities were more combat-oriented and were caught on surveillance during the training in Gym Gamma that one time.

Gunbreaker: The second kit he manifested during one of those vigilante incidents was similar to the Paladin one, albeit not wearing armor as cumbersome as full plate mail, allowing for better movement. The weapon he carried also didn't make sense to him, even after both Snipe and Power Loader could get their hands on it, with Midoriya's permission, of course, and tried to figure it out. It was called a "gunblade," a half gun and half sword, which could be loaded with 28 gauge-sized magnum bullets from what Snipe could figure. Still, while not firing out a projectile (most of the time), it could heal or cause explosions. What they were made of was also a mystery as to when they attempted to open one of the casings, there was nothing inside. When Midoriya took an empty shell and loaded it into the weapon, with a few strikes, he had caused an explosion that nearly blew apart the training dummy he was currently attacking. Power Loader theorized that it was some sort of built-up kinetic energy that "filled" the cartridge before being shot out, and even then, he still couldn't figure out HOW it was doing that.

Whatever this "gunblade" was, it was far more advanced in technology than anything in the world, and it made no goddamn sense.

Lastly was Midoriya's latest "kit," the one he had obtained during the practical exam, which caused him to pass out afterward. He had called it "Red Mage," and while the outfit was outlandish and something one would see from an outdoor play theater, the weapon he wielded in such a "form" was just as odd as the gunblade.

An oddly designed rapier with a floating orb or crystal of some kind affixed itself to his hand or on the sword's pommel. What was odd was that the teenager could fire bolts of… well… for lack of a better term, "projectiles" from the crystal with it attached to the sword. Aizawa was not going to humor the notion that Midoriya could use "magic." Still, to be able to fire off bolts of what looked like lightning, fire, earth, and air was unheard of. Plus, according to Midoriya's notes, he could also heal with something called "Vercure."

Insufficient naming aside, there was one ability called "Verraise" with the asterisk beside it stating 'unknown function, Recovery Girl to provide information at a later date.'

Ochako, Tsuyu, and Himiko watched as Izuku was quickly scribbling down all the information he could. The three women blinked in astonishment at just how fast he was going, considering two of them knew just how fast Midoriya could be with his note-taking usually.

Honestly, they were surprised that the paper didn't catch fire from the speed at which Izuku was going. Himiko, however, saw up close for the first time how the boy was quickly digesting the information, the slight mutterings he made with his eyes shifting from the screen down to the notebook.

The blonde vampire wondered what he would write about *her* quirk if given the chance.

Aizawa felt he would need to open that bottle of whiskey after today's test for some reason.

"Ditto," spoke the ever-tired teacher from his theater seat, sighing and crossing his arms over his chest.

The dark-haired teacher slowly began to rub the bridge of his nose when he could hear the clambering of sneakers and shoes rushing towards him. He looked at his stopwatch to see that the students were a solid five minutes early.

Good, they may have some potential after all.

Inko slowly frowned at that little remark. A sinking pit formed in her stomach as her mind pondered if the same teacher, who was a few seats over, also thought like this. Who was he to say if someone didn't have whatever this "potential" was? They couldn't just kick someone out due to one teacher's bias, even if they were a pro hero.

Could they?

Izuku huffed gently as he and the rest of his classmates had finally changed and made it out to Field Sigma; pulling up the sleeves of the navy blue sports jersey up to his elbows and was eager to get started. As the students began to start speaking to one another again, Aizawa quickly quieted them with a cold stare and clearing of his throat.

"Listen up and keep quiet," shouted the homeroom teacher, "We are going to be doing the same fitness tests that you all would have done in high school, but this time, unlike the illogical reasoning of most school boards and the government, you will be using the FULL extent of your quirks."

Nezu sighed with some humor in his tone, "Never change, Shouta."

The teacher in question just rolled his eyes and got comfy in his seat once more, pulling a jelly pack from his scarf and sipping it.

A soft murmur started to echo across the confused students before Aizawa's eyes flashed a bright red, and his hair stood on end, making most of the students flinch. Once he deactivated his quirk, Aizawa looked towards Bakugou, "Bakugou, you scored the most villain points in the entrance exam. What was your old ball toss score in high school?"

The blonde tilted his head for a moment, thinking about it since it had been quite a while. Katsuki looked to Aizawa and, in his usual gruff voice, replied, "About seventy feet, give or take."

Bakugou smirked to himself, but his interest in the story being presented to him was barely keeping his attention. At least the blonde bomber liked the fact that at least some things hadn't changed.

Aizawa tossed a ball to the blonde as he went to stand by a drawn-out circle on the ground, "I want you to stand in this circle and throw the ball WITH your quirk, do not hold anything back, and you can do anything as long as you remain in the circle."

The student maniacally grinned as he gripped the ball in his hand, pulling back his arm to throw it. As he was doing this, Izuku's eyes shot wide as he watched Katuski wind up, immediately turning towards Kyoka and rushing to her. Before she could ask what he was doing, he clasped her ears with his hands and held her head as the shout of 'DIE' rang out, followed by a slight earthshaking explosion ringing out that caused a bit of dust to kick up.

Once he knew it was safe, he slowly removed his hands from Kyoka's ears as she was staring straight at him with a blush across her cheeks; he gave her a worried look, "Kyoka, are you alright?"

"Dude! That was awesome!" Sero exclaimed, his typical smile on his lips as he reached over and patted Izuku on his shoulder, "Good catch on that!"

"U-um… Thanks, Sero." Izuku chuckled meekly at the praise; admittedly, he wished he had done the same during their assessment tests at the beginning of the year, or at least give everyone a heads up on how loud Bakugou's quirk is. However, one of the other boys did pick up on it as well.

"Hey, how come you didn't warn Shoji?" Kaminari questioned with a tilt of his head as everyone grew silent at the question.

Shoji crossed his many arms over his chest and looked towards Midoriya, "He does have a point, Midoriya; how come you didn't give me a warning?"

"HUH?! B-B-B-But I-" Midoriya had started to freak out slightly, wondering if he had hurt the feelings of one of his classmates, the same one that carried him out of the forest during the training camp. Just as Izuku was about to apologize, he heard the low chuckle coming from the multi-limbed giant of 1-A.

"It's merely a jest, Midoriya." Shoji continued to chuckle, "I am sure if you had known at the time that my quirk gave me heightened hearing senses, you would have also done the same or at least warned me."

"O-oh, of course, Shoji!" Izuku beamed a smile, which the giant student nodded his head towards before he felt soft hands on one of his arms—turning his head towards the person who was trying to get his attention, only to be met with the bright smile of the currently visible Toru.

"Shoji, were you 'teasing' Midoriya just now?" The incandescent green-haired woman asked as Shoji turned his head back to look towards the screen in front of them. However, he looked out the corner of his eye, and Toru could see the outline of a smirk on his lips under his mask.

"Perhaps."

She didn't answer him at first until her eyebrows furrowed, and suddenly he was attacked by her jacks, jabbing in the side, "Don't do that so suddenly!"

"S-s-sorry I was- ACK! I knew that his loudest explosions could hurt your hearing since you have a heightened sense of hearing! I-I had to act fast, and warning you wouldn't have been quick enough!" Izuku stammered out as her 'attacks' gradually slowed down and ended. Kyoka looked away. Her blush returned, muttering out a 'thank you,' which caused Izuku to rub the back of his head and nervously chuckle.

Kyoka groaned to herself, embarrassed by the whole situation presented on the screen, and had covered her face to hide her blush from how her and Midoriya's counterparts were acting like some kind of lousy rom-com characters. Bad enough that the story was setting up for some sort of one-sided romance between the Kyoka on screen and Midoriya.

It was apparent that Midoriya would end up with Momo, and when compared to her friend, how could she even think of beating that? Momo was intelligent, beautiful, and had the social and financial status to pack that up as well, which Kyoka knew Midoriya wouldn't really care about.

Looking towards her classmate sitting a few rows in front of her, Kyoka watched as Midoriya was also flustered from the scene before them, Smirking lightly to herself that even he was a little embarrassed by the event as well. And she liked the fact that his counterpart was acting all flustered with her like the other girls, making her smile grow slightly more as she knew that their resident fan-boy also did the same with her.

However, the smile faded as her violet eyes looked upon her other friend and classmate, the gravity-negating brunette who so obviously had a crush on him. Once again, she wondered how she could ever compete against Ochako to win Midoriya's gaze.

Kyoka blinked after that last thought, frowning to herself and blushing madly once again and hiding her face. Just what was she thinking about?! She didn't even like "Green" like that!

"If you two are finished," Aizawa called out as he walked back with Katsuki, who was wearing a smug smirk on his face, "As I was about to say, the point of these tests is to give a baseline for your current strengths and weaknesses to work on for your years here at UA." The teacher turned to Katuski, "Bakugou, your score was nine hundred and seventy feet."

"I was thinking our test results were going to be different for this timeline." Tenya spoke up, rubbing his chin.

"What makes you say that, Prez?" Kaminari asked as Iida turned around to face his classmate.

"If I recall correctly, Bakugou's original score was around the seven hundred range. This means that in the approximate three-year difference, those results and everyone else's should be higher than they were when we did them." Iida spoke while thinking to himself about how fast his other self would be compared to himself.

For Kaminari, who was slowly working through what exactly his class president had said, suddenly smiled brightly, "Hey! That means I may not fry my brain when I use my quirk then!"

"Nope, still puts you out of commission, Jamming whey." Grim called out, making Kaminari hit his head against the seat cushion in front of him and groaning.

"Oh, come on! You even know about that nickname?"

"Me and the other weavers… so a lot of us, yes," Grim said smugly, earning another groan from the blonde.

Katsuki smiled like he knew he would get an impossible score to beat, and he noticed some of the other students began to mimic his feelings. After all, he was the best, and these extras knew they could never be better than him. However, his smile soon turned into a scowl as he looked upon Izuku, who didn't even seem impressed. Izuku was thinking about something and muttering to himself. Katsuki huffed and went to stand further from the other students as Aizawa began to explain the rest of the tests.

While most of the students in the theater only groaned or sighed heavily at the way that the blonde on the screen was acting. The added context of knowing just how awful the relationship between their versions of Bakugou and Midoriya was further soured their moods.

For the blonde bomber himself, Bakugou was smirking at seeing just how much stronger he was in this odd universe. However, that faded once he was watching how his counterpart was acting towards Deku. Worst of all, his memories of that time also began to surface, and what he remembered didn't help his mood, considering how eerily similar he had acted during that time.

"Now, we are going to do the one-hundred-foot dash first. It will be done in pairs. But first…" Aizawa paused as he looked over at the students, who were starting to relax a little, "since it looks like many of you aren't taking this seriously, let's up the challenge a bit." The students shivered as he smiled at them; he crossed his arms and stared directly at them, pushing up his scarf a little, "The person who places last in these tests will be expelled."

"Excuse me?!" Inko shouted suddenly, quickly turning her gaze toward the homeroom teacher sitting only a few seats from her. Though Aizawa had dealt with some of the most 'villainous' of foes in the past and not bat an eye at any of their intimidation tactics, the look coming from the problem child's mother was forcing him to almost want to hide in his scarf.

Surprisingly, it was Toshinori who was the first to try to calm Inko down, stepping between the two people as everyone else in the theater watched on. Izuku had been kept back with both Ochako and Tsu holding onto his arms and a gentle ribbit from the frog-like girl catching the boy's attention, "Let All Might explain it to her, Midoriya."

"B-But-"

"If you try to explain Aizawa's teaching methods, your mom will think you're just covering for him and the school, kero." Tsu interrupted, her blank eyes staring straight into Izuku's, "This is something you need a staff member like All Might to explain."

Izuku was silent for a few moments, his gaze shifting back towards his mother and All Might before looking back at Tsu and gently nodding. The frog-like girl croaked with a slight smile before she and Izuku turned their heads to watch how their heroics teacher was going to explain Aizawa's 'odd' habits when it came to their education.

Also, both ignoring the hard stare of their brunette friend with that 'competitive' look in her eyes and smile to match.

Back with the adults, Inko was staring hard at Toshinori, similar to what she had done to the aging hero when she was first brought to the main viewing room. And while Toshi was, at the very least, not cowering as he had done so before, he knew he had to choose his words correctly. Otherwise, who knows what the mother of his successor would or could do.

"Well? What is it, All Might? Or are you going to defend your fellow pro hero's actions?" Inko asked angrily, with a glare sent Aizawa's way, who merely huffed and rolled his eyes. Toshinori, however, remained stoic and began to speak.

"I am not going to defend Aizawa's atrocious teaching methods, Ms. Midoriya, in fact…" The ever-blue eyes of the number one hero in Japan looked towards his colleague, who merely raised an eyebrow, "Frankly, Aizawa, you stink as a teacher."

"What?"

"I know I am not one to talk, given my own lack of teaching experience, but come on, Aizawa! These are children just barely entering high school, and already you're threatening to remove their palace in the hero course because they don't meet your 'ideal' standards or whether or not they have 'potential'. They are going to make mistakes, and as teachers, we should be doing our best to make sure they learn from their mistakes and grow, improving not only themselves but their own heroic ideals."

The two pro heroes kept staring down one another, the silence in the theater deafening before Toshinori spoke again, "Aizawa, as a pro hero, I trust you with my life and know that no matter what, I can always count on you for it. You know when to make the correct call and provide some of the best logical advice and stratagems I have ever seen."

"However," Toshinori's voice grew cold all of a sudden, "While I will admit that you seem to have mellowed out slightly since the beginning of this year, be it from the experiences given to this class, or perhaps certain 'problem children' making you question your methods. You are a teacher, a person these students should know they can trust for any issue, be it academic or personal. But no, you'd rather make them paranoid and afraid of you. I doubt even your threats of expulsion matter much to them anymore, as they already know how you operate."

Aizawa didn't respond, granted he didn't have much of a chance to, as Toshinori looked over to Inko and began to speak once more, "While I disagree with his teaching methods, Ms. Midoriya. I can attest to his… rationality in how he does things, and I mean by pushing the students to their limits, both physically and mentally."

"Despite what the HPSC and Hero Association like to propagate to the masses, being a hero is not a job to be made glamorous, but about saving as many people as possible. It also means that there will be times that heroes need to make the hard decisions, such as leaving behind someone… or in the most dire of situations, ending a life."

Inko's eyes widened as the number one hero admitted to some of the darker aspects of being a Pro Hero, quickly turning her gaze towards Izuku, who at this point was looking away slightly and avoiding her gaze. A clear sign that even her baby boy knew of these things that could happen in his future.

"It is not something for a pro hero to decide on a mere whim, but the decisions on how we act and repercussions that can happen because of those decisions is something all heroes face." All Might continued with a much softer tone to his gruff voice, "Even I have had to make that call a few times in my career because I learned very early on that sometimes you cannot save everyone. Be it a civilian, villain, or another hero."

"But, and as Aizawa would put it and will probably do so on the screen shortly, life is unfair. Sometimes, some things can happen beyond our control, and quick thinking and experience is the only way to keep not only ourselves alive, but those who are around us alive as well." Slowly, Toshinori gently took Inko's hand into his own. Though much more 'bony' compared to the softness of the mother's hand, "I understand your outrage, and as I pointed out, I am no fan of how Aizawa goes about it. But please understand that not only he but I and the entire staff at UA are doing our utmost best to make sure that every hero student who passes our doors will know when to make the right decision. And that they can always fall back on much more experienced heroes for guidance, even after they leave our halls."

Inko remained silent, taking in the words of not only the former number-one of Japan but also her son's mentor and main inspiration to be a hero. Slowly taking in a deep breath and exhaling similarly, the shorter woman calmly took her seat once more and looked up at the screen while remaining silent.

While Inko would have questioned All Might's words in some aspects, especially given the way this year was going with all the villain attacks, the matriarch of the Midoriya family knew that the conversation would be best without the ears of all of the students around at this time. However, there was one thing still on her mind as she spoke while still staring up at the screen.

"What place?"

"Um, pardon?" Toshinori asked as he took his seat as well, looking a little confused by the question.

"What place did my Izuku place during these assessment trials?" Inko said, her deep green eyes slowly looking towards the skeletal man, whose complexion turned even more ghostly white.

"A-Ah, well-"

"He had potential." Aizawa suddenly spoke up, interrupting Toshinori's reply, which only made the air around them grow incredibly colder for some reason. Inko's response was slow, but she merely turned her gaze back up to the screen, clearly understanding the 'hobo's' answer, and did not like it one bit.

"I see."

To say that the silence was deafening was an understatement before a collective 'WHAT?!' rang out, followed by a few protests. Aizawa was able to pick up on Ochako's 'but that's not fair!' comment and focused on her.

"Surprise villain attacks, unavoidable weather disasters," his eyes squinted at her, causing Ochako to flinch, "Robots that go rogue in a controlled environment are all unfair. Life, in general, is unfair. You are all adults now, time to grow up." and with the finality in his voice, he headed towards the track for the one hundred foot dash. All of the students hurriedly kept up with him with worried looks on their faces. However, a few of them looked determined, as if aiming to prove to their teacher they had the drive needed to be a hero.

While the class watching found it a little odd how 'lackluster' the Aizawa on screen had given his explanation for the 'expulsion' threat compared to what they had been given on the first day of classes, it was nice to see some of their counterparts still trying to show their teacher up and prove they had the right to be in the hero course.

Once everyone was at the track, Aizawa turned to the students and shouted, "Tenya Iida and Tsuyu Asui, you'll be the first pair to race. This test is more about how fast you can make the one hundred feet, again, go to your absolute limits."

As the two students walked up toward the starting line, Izuku was watching them like a hawk. His left hand curled on his chin as he was deep in thought. At the same time, he knew or had the basic idea of Tenya's quirk thanks to the noticeable engine exhausts on his calves and his performance at the practical exam. The green-haired girl he had met prior in the classroom was an absolute mystery to him. While he had just learned her name by accident, thanks to their teacher, his full attention was still on her.

The warmth of the blessing enveloped him as he mentally analyzed Tsuyu, using his fingers to keep his muttering to the absolute minimum (an idea given to him by Nezu). His eyes focused on her body movements and her general appearance, noticing her larger hands and feet. Thinking back to the classroom, he remembered a verbal 'tic' of hers as she spoke, making a sound similar to the croak of a frog or toad. As he watched her still, Izuku saw her squat down into a very frog-like position to get ready for the race.

The Izuku in the audience could only blink in confusion at what his counterpart was doing. Sure, his cheeks were a little rosy, given how his 'other self' was just blatantly staring at the Asui on screen. Sure, he also took note of his friend's and classmate's quirks and alterations to their physiology because of their unique abilities. However, Izuku wasn't sure he had ever done his analysis in such a 'lecherous' way before.

Of course, Izuku's anxiety-filled mind went to his typical response and quickly looked towards Tsu once again and was about to apologize to her, only to find that his froggy friend had already intercepted the oncoming apology with a raised finger to silence him.

Had Tsuyu moved the tip of her finger a few millimeters closer, she would have touched Izuku's lips, and who knows how that 'intimate' act would have frazzled his mind or made the normally stoic girl blush.

"Kero," The gentle croak escaping past Tsu's lips caught Izuku's attention and those around them, with Tsu staring straight into his eyes, "It's alright, Midoriya, I know your other self can't help it, given the explanation we just got, kero."

"O-Oh ok, but do I-"

"No, kero." Tsuyu replied once again, shaking her head, "Anytime you start to analyze a quirk, you just start to stare at the ground intensely while muttering." Tsuyu looked up at the screen once again, Izuku noticing the slight blush on the frog girl's cheeks, "But while I don't mind the muttering as much anymore, your other self has a decent idea, kero."

"You mean holding his chin a little tighter?" Himiko spoke up once again, though she looked a little giddy. She, too, had noticed Tsuyu's blush, and she was ignoring the way Ochako was staring at her best friend. Which was odd for the former villainess, as the only time she ever felt such a 'weight' around the gravity-defying young woman was when she was fighting her!

"Exactly, kero."

As Izuku was lost in his thoughts and observations, another set of eyes was watching him. Ochako couldn't precisely understand what Izuku was doing. She had seen him stare at her friend for quite a bit in the classroom, and now he was just staring at her with some kind of look she couldn't quite figure out. The auburn-haired girl would never assume anyone of ill intent. But, her only interaction with her green-haired classmate was during the practical exam. While he did help her at the time, there was only so much Ochako knew about him, and that worried her.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt the poke of a finger against her upper arm; Ochako turned her head to meet the black sclera eyes of her classmate, Mina Ashido. She was smiling brightly at her as she moved beside Ochako and began to whisper to her, "It's a little freaky, isn't it?"

"Huh?"

The Mina in the audience moved a little forward on her seat, clearly interested in how her other self was going to describe how the other Midori's analysis thing was in that world. Her golden eyes were full of curiosity, wanting to know if her counterpart had any other juicy information she could get her mitts on when it came to her already growing interest in both the Midori on screen and the one sitting only a few seats in front of her.

"When Midori goes into 'analyzing mode.'" The pink-skinned girl jabbed her thumb towards the boy, "At first, even me and Kyoka were somewhat weirded out about it, but then later we learned he gets hyper-focused on something or someone when he analyzes things that interest him, namely quirks. It allows him to process all that information quickly, but since his quirk came in super late, it was almost like his body was giving a hint that he did have a quirk." Mina continued to whisper into Ochako's ear gently, both still watching Izuku, "He's really smart and was able to give me a few pointers on how to utilize my quirk better. As long as you don't mind him asking a few dozen questions or talking your ear off for a while, he'd be more than happy to help you learn something new about yours as well."

"But…" Ochako looked at Mina, her face still worried, "The way he's looking at Tsu…"

"Oh! You think he's looking at her in a bad way?" Mina asked with a tilt of her head, though her smile had faded. Her brow furrowed, she shook her head and sighed, "Nah, Midori isn't like that; in fact, he told me that he found physical mutations caused by quirks to be the most interesting. Like how my skin is super pink due to my acid quirk, as well as my eyes." Mina beamed at her suddenly; her cheeks were now a little purple, "You'd be surprised how easy it is for him to casually flirt by accident."

"FLIRT?!" Several of the students and Inko shouted aloud whileIzuku was now covering his head and groaning in embarrassment. His face was a deep red as he could hear some of the laughter coming from some of the guys behind him, and while he knew that any of the oncoming shots at him were probably not being done maliciously… his stomach felt heavy with doubt.

"Midoriya accidentally flirting?" Sero snickered, "No offense, dude, but you're so timid! I don't see how that's possible!"

"Oh, this I gotta see!" Kaminari said as he continued to laugh.

Ochako's cheeks erupted into a pink mess and whisper-yelled out, "F-flirt?!"

"Mhmm, he told me that my eyes were like 'little suns cast in the vast darkness of space,' I know he didn't mean it to sound like a flirt. He's not the type of guy to just do that willy-nilly." Mina gently smiled as she looked at Izuku, with Ochako's eyes also following suit, "but it felt nice to be complimented like that, truthfully."

The theater grew quiet after hearing what the other Midoriya had said. Both Sero and Kaminari looked shocked at the fact that Midoriya, Mr. 'gets flustered when a girl talks to him', had done it so casually. Mina's cheeks were now tinted a little purple, staring up at the screen in equal shock to those around her. What broke the silence, however, was something unexpected.

"H-he's not wrong."

Izuku had thought he was speaking as softly as he could so as not to be heard, only to realize his mistake when Ochako's, Tsu's, and Himiko's heads suddenly turned towards him with equally shocked looks on their faces. Of course, they weren't the only ones, as Izuku could feel everyone's gaze now on him.

Turning to look at his classmates, landing upon those golden eyes of Mina Ashido in the audience, with the two staring for a few moments before Izuku finally spoke up again, as if snapping out of some kind of inner dialogue, "Y-Yeah, I'd say it's an accurate description."

The chaos that followed took several minutes to calm down, with Mineta shouting 'traitor' at the green-haired boy, while one pink-skinned woman's cheeks turned even more purple and a slow but goofy smile starting to form across her lips, not even noticing (or caring) about the death glares coming from a certain blonde and brunette up at the front of the theater.

The auburn-haired girl turned to her pink-skinned classmate, who was still looking at Izuku, then returned her gaze to him before she, too, began to think it was maybe not for any ill intent he was staring at her friend. But, she would talk to him about it and perhaps have Mina there with her. It was still rude to stare at someone.

Himiko huffed at that; sure, she could see what the Ochako on screen was getting at. But the blonde vampire felt that having Izuku stare at her like he was doing to Tsu would be fantastic. But then, the reminder of what was going to come up later in the story made the grumpy face of Toga slowly fade and idly rub her stomach, smiling down fondly and giggling to herself, and Ochako did not notice as she was still glaring at Mina.

So what if the acid woman or the other women around them were getting compliments? Himiko knew she had them all beat already.

As the two girls continued to watch Izuku, the boy felt a chill run up his back as if warning him of something in the near future. He snapped out of it as Aizawa fired the pistol to start the race and watched as both Tenya and Tsuyu took off. Tenya was obviously going to be faster and, in fact, seemed to have a burst of speed at about the fifty-foot mark, the drone by the finish line calling out his time of three seconds and fifty-two milliseconds.

Tenya gently nodded, recognizing how much more agile he was, reasoning that his counterpart hadn't reached his 'third gear' yet was still able to have a better time than what he had done at the beginning of the year. Also, it was just further proving his earlier hypothesis.

Izuku's attention went back to Tsuyu after he realized Tenya would finish first. As he did, his eyes widened as Izuku watched her leap and bound, similar to a frog. What was most interesting is that he thought he saw her hang in the air slightly when her jump would be at the apex. Perhaps she had some sort of small 'floating' ability, as there were known species of frogs that could glide in the air due to their webbing between their feet. If that was the case, how many 'aspects' of frogs did her quirk possess? His thoughts were interrupted when the drone called out her score of seven seconds and fifty-seven milliseconds.

As the frog girl stood up and dusted herself off, she turned her head towards the others and gave a small thumbs up to Ochako, who smiled and did the same back. However, her attention turned towards Izuku, and he was just looking at her like he had a million questions eager to spill out. She tilted her head quizzically in return. But the gruff voice of her teacher brought her back to reality.

"Head back to the others." Aizawa spoke before yelling out, "Bakugou and Midoriya, you two are next!"

"Geez, I wonder how this is going to go, given how distracted Midoriya was when he was checking out Asui." Kaminari said as he relaxed in his seat before getting a jack to the side of his head, "OW! What?!"

"Don't tease him about that; it's not like the other Midoriya can help with it." Kyoka snarled at the blonde, who rubbed the spot where he got hit.

"OK, fine, but seriously, why are you snarling at me?"

Silence was all Kaminari got in the end, but he did notice the light dusting of pink on the punk rocker's cheeks when she threatened to jab him once more.

Both teenagers nodded and jogged back to the small gaggle of students while the two called boys made their way toward the starting line. Tsuyu made her way to her reasonably new friend, who smiled brightly at her as she came up, "Tsu!" Ochako said and bounced lightly, "That was amazing! I didn't know you could jump so far."

"Thanks, kero; truth be told, I had hoped to do a little better."

"You did awesome regardless!" Mina spoke up now and smiled brightly, "Besides, you were up against a guy with freaking engines for legs, so being a little slower isn't the end of the world when you're going against someone whose literal quirk is going fast."

"Darn right! Listen to the other me, Tsu! You did awesome!" Mina cried out from her spot, only to get a gentle ribbit and nod from the frog girl.

Tsuyu nodded, then looked towards the two boys at the starting line, "Who do you think is going to be faster between those two?"

"Between Bakugou and Midori? As much as I want to root for my fellow 'fluff-buddy,' I don't think any of his 'kits' can outspeed literal explosions." Mina crossed her arms, frowning as she stared at Bakugou, "Though I really hope he does beat Bakugou, to be honest."

"Oh? Why do you say that, kero?"

"I don't know; there's something about him that just rubs me the wrong way; plus, since we began this whole test thing, he's been glaring at Midori like him being here offends Bakugou or something." Mina huffed as the small group of girls turned their attention back to the track.

'Ugh, even the me on screen can see the way he was treating Midori was wrong!' Mina huffed and crossed her arms, pouting to herself as she was reminded of all the interactions between the pair and didn't put two and two together that Bakugou had been Midori's bully.

Well, no more. Mina knew she needed to make up for her earlier mistakes, and she was now determined to get closer to the boy, especially given all the good times she had when she was teaching him how to dance for the school festival.

Even if he had two left feet most of the time.

Tsuyu placed a finger on her chin, thinking about how he looked at her when she was coming back to the others; the 'million questions' gaze he had intrigued her, and if they were to pass these tests, she could also ask him things about his quirk. These 'kits' sounded exciting, and making new friends had been one of her goals when coming to UA, which, thankfully, she had started to do when she met Ochako after the practical exams.

As Aizawa readied the pistol once again, Tsuyu's interest in the mysterious green-haired boy's quirk grew following what had happened next, as a blinding light soon enveloped the starting line when the pistol was fired.

"I really wish we had some sunglasses or something." Toru chirped as she rested her head on the vacant seat's headrest in front of her and sighed before looking back towards the weaver, "Mr. Grim, is there a way to lower the brightness when Midori gets a new kit thingy?"

"Already taken care of, Hagakure."

"Oh, thank god!" Dark Shadow squealed from underneath Tokoyami's cape.

"Thank you, Mr. Grim!" The now-visible girl smiled, making those behind her and even Grim himself try and block how bright she was.

Izuku was a bit of a mess as he was walking towards the starting line, not only because he was going to be pitted against Bakugou but also because out of his three kits, none of them were great at crossing great distances.

Sure, his 'red mage' could pull him towards the end of the lane when he was close enough. However, he had no idea how far the limit was before he could even pull off a corps-a-corps; plus, Izuku needed to make a good impression here, or else he'd be expelled. Nezu had warned him that the teachers were given free rein in how they taught their classes, and Aizawa obviously was no exception.

It also didn't help that he could feel his mind continually going back to Tsuyu, how her jumping and leaping was just reminding him of something. The feeling and warmth he was getting from Hydaelyn's blessing were just urging him to think about it. Izuku didn't even realize he was at the starting line with Aizawa and Bakugou ready to start.

"Wow, seeing it from his perspective, it's no wonder why he can be so anxious most of the time outside of the hero class," Shoji said gruffly as the few people around him gently nodded.

"I-It's understandable… sometimes things and people can be quite scary," Koda spoke up softly, gently tapping his fingers together in worry that he was speaking out of line.

"Not only that but the way his powers seem to be forcing him to think about how Asui's quirk works and trying to pinpoint something." Tokoyami said solemnly while resting his arms, "Having such a distraction when out on the field would be most perilous."

The blonde boy snarled as his hands began to spark with tiny explosions, reading himself as Aizawa sighed heavily and raised the pistol into the air, "Start when the pistol goes off in 3…"

Izuku froze as he looked at Aizawa, eyes wide in frantic searching, before looking down into his hands; oh god, what was he going to do? He hadn't even switched to anything yet!

"2…"

'CRAP! Think Izuku, think! It's evident that Tsuyu's quirk is frog-based, so why are you stuck on it? Is it because of the jumping? Is it because it's like a frog?! What else jumps and leaps? Um.. uh… '

"1…"

'Leaping frogs! Jumping Amphibians! Wait, no, she was gliding partially in her jumps, so flying frogs? Maybe lizards?.. Wait… gliding lizards… flying lizards! Just like a drag-' "AH!"

"Wait… was he about to say 'dragon'?" Momo said with a quizzical look on her face, having been following along with the on-screen Midoriya's thought process.

As that last thought entered Izuku's mind, the pistol went off. While Bakugou had launched off with his explosions, Izuku clenched his head as the motherly voice of the crystalline goddess echoed in his mind before enveloping him in a blinding light.

Aizawa quickly brought his arm up to shield his eyes from the bright light one of his students had let off, squinting to see what the hell was going on as gasps and shouts came from the students that were further away. For a brief moment, he swore he could see a darkened figure leap out of the light and down the track, effortlessly passing Bakugou, who was astonished and angered that someone had passed him.

The drone buzzed with a racer passing the finishing line, leaving a cloud of dust with what sounded like metal skidding across the gravel and obscuring the person who had completed it. Bakugou was still racing, and Aizawa looked to find that Midoriya was no longer at the starting line.

*BZZT* "Two seconds and fifteen milliseconds."

"Holy crap!" Kirishima cried out with a sharp tooth smile beaming, "He was even faster than Iida-bro!"

Aizawa's attention was brought back to the drone at the end of the track, where the dust was beginning to settle, and his ordinarily tired eyes slowly widened at the sight before him. Where he was expecting his student in the typical navy blue UA gym uniform stood a figure wearing the most wicked-looking armor.

A bright light shone above the screen, revealing the horned triangular symbol within the circle of the other 'to be revealed at some point' kit sigils. A small flash of light just right above Tsuyu caused the frog-like girl to ribbit in shock when a medallion suddenly landed on her lap. Slowly picking it up, Tsu's blank gaze was slowly looking over the piece of metal, letting her fingers trace across its edges as her three 'seat buddies' leaned over to look at it as well.

Grim chuckled low from his seat, getting everyone's attention, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the dragon hunter themself, 'The Dragoon'!"

It was a mix-match of what looked like scale or plate mail similar to one of those fantasy games on Mic's phone he would often gush about in the break room, with dark matted lavender cloth pieces holding the odd costume together. Parts of the upper armor, from what he could see, revealed the teenager's body from what Aizawa would assume would be for better mobility, which usually Aizawa wouldn't have too much issue with, but how those shoulder plates seemed to keep close to Midoriya's body was just… odd.

Another striking feature of the boy's new look was the helmet itself. It didn't look like it was made from the same material as the other metallic pieces, almost like leather, yet still held the same colorization and looked like the other pieces. It had an odd sort of beak to it where the teacher could see a small part of the boy's face underneath with two red slits meant for the eyes, he suspected, and two large fins adorned on the sides of his head with a "tail" at the back.

It was when Midoriya turned around to face his teacher that Aizawa saw the weapon, a fantastical-looking spear or lance with edges that seemed to pulse with a bright purple as he held it. The buzz of the drone with Bakugou's score of four seconds and forty-five milliseconds didn't even phase Aizawa out of his thoughts as he watched his armored student begin walking back to the others, passing by him and not even acknowledging the scruffy man.

"Th-that armor sure looks… um… something," Sero said carefully, trying not to voice his genuine opinions while also avoiding the frowns coming from some of the girls around him. Tsuyu herself already knew what the tape user was alluding to and was trying to be polite for her feelings, even if it was under threat from the other girls.

But she couldn't deny that the armor she had unlocked for Midoriya looked downright villainous. Within her mind, Tsuyu thought this was some sort of poetic karma, considering how she had accused her friends and classmates of being 'villainous' when they went to rescue Bakugou before All Might fought that Kamino villain. Thankfully, whatever dark and gloomy thoughts she had were soon interrupted by the sounds of scribbling beside her as Tsu looked over to see Izuku jotting down note after note about the costume in the notebook that was provided to him earlier.

"Midoriya?"

"Huh? Oh! Sorry, Tsu, was my note-taking bothering you?"

"No, but I wanted to know what you think about the armor, kero."

Izuku tilted his head at the request made by his froggy friend before looking back down at his notebook to get a few bits of what he had already done, "Um… sure? It seems to be very aerodynamic, with all the edges and spikes arranged in a pattern that I guess would prevent any drag in the air, considering how fast he was going and-"

"Kero," the sudden ribbit stopped Izuku from beginning to mutter as Tsu was staring hard into his eyes now, "I meant, do you think the armor looks villainous?"

Izuku slowly frowned at the question, moving his gaze back up to the screen and then back to her, tilting his head slightly as he replied, "Why would I think it looks villainous? I mean, of course it wouldn't be, since it's the one you unlocked."

From behind him, both Himiko's and Ochako's mouths agape in shock at just how casually Izuku had said that. Tsuyu wasn't doing any better before she quickly faced forward and did her best to let the darkness of the theater hide her growing blush.

"Thank you, Midoriya, kero."

Izuku smiled at her before going back to his note-taking, "Of course, Tsuyu! Any time!"

"Midoriya."

That single word stopped the boy, who was now only five feet away. Turning towards his homeroom teacher, what sounded like the skin being peeled back could only be heard as the helmet 'shifted' to reveal the face of Aizawa's student.

Izuku looked with a tired and emotionless face that seemed to match his teacher, his fluffy green hair looking longer now and straight at the roots but retaining the curls he was known for at the ends, "Yes, sir?"

Aizawa motioned his hand like he was waving over the boy's body, "Explain."

"I was able to 'awaken' another kit from my quirk, sir. This one is dubbed 'Dragoon,' and while I would fully explain its abilities right now, it would be illogical at this time since there is a schedule to keep." Izuku answered back with a light tone of voice that matched his expression. Aizawa merely sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, already getting a headache from the boy, but then looked at him and held out a hand.

"Oh no!" Kaminari shouted aloud, "He's turned into Aizawa!"

"Kaminari, two weeks detention." The homeroom teacher called out to the electric user, who cringed when he suddenly remembered that he was there with them.

"Also, surrender your weapon; while it is a part of your quirk, I'd rather not risk any accidents. Should you need it for any of the tests, you will only need to ask. Do you understand?"

With no hesitation, Izuku held the strange spear out to Aizawa, who took it and grunted from the heft and shockingly weighted thing. Once Izuku let go of the weapon, the purple ends dimmed to an almost deep purple color and no longer shone. Holding the spear up now, Aizawa nudged his head towards the other students waiting, some of them looking flabbergasted as they stared at the green-headed boy.

Izuku nodded without another word, answering his teacher's question and acknowledging what was asked of him. As the strange armored boy began to head back, Aizawa turned to Bakugou, who had been silently watching the exchange. But he could tell the blonde-haired teenager was seething in anger, "Bakugou, head back to the others."

The boy's red eyes met Aizawa's tired eyes, and the only response the teacher got was a huff. As Bakugou walked past, Aizawa sighed silently but heavily to himself.

It was going to be a very long day.

Everyone remained quiet as the room had failed to light up once again, seeing as that felt that was a sudden end to this 'particular' scene of the story. However, it started back up again as Grim relaxed in his seat once more, chuckling to himself about what was coming up next and how they were going to react.

If only he could keep them here to watch it all in one go.
