A New Era
One day after the nightmare of Kamino Ward, Japan was in chaos as the impossible seemed to happen. The number one hero, their beloved All Might has retired. More than that, the people of Japan have witnessed All Might's true form and learned that their beloved hero was nothing more than a skeleton working on borrowed time who gave his all in his final battle.
People didn't lose faith in All Might, if anything, they loved him more, but his absence was immediately noticed as villains began to spring from the woodwork attacking nowhere and everywhere making nowhere safe. The heroes couldn't keep up with what was happening…
This is what effected the people mostly, as they began to wonder if the hero system was hanging on the shoulder of one man. They wondered if All Might was the only reason the streets were safe. This made the people's trust in the hero system crack, as they wondered if the heroes were complacent when All Might was still a hero. The new reality scared the people of Japan because they understood that Japan had just entered a new Era…
An era without All Might to protect them, and that for most people was terrifying…
In a place where no human can reach, or better yet, a place where no human can escape, should he enter. A place that was built for the criminals who the death penalty is too light of a sentence for them, and is nothing but a get-out jail-free card. Given his enormous crimes, AFO was given a sentence that matched his exceptional crimes. The man was taken immediately to a special prison.
Waking up from his fight with All Might, the man felt that he was tied up in a straightjacket and that his legs were bound together preventing him from moving, as well as the fact that he was now being carried away somewhere on a wheelchair. AFO's voice was a little gruff, but he kept his calm tone, "Where am I being taken to? Where is this place? What is happening…"
AFO didn't get to complete his question as the guard took away AFO yelled, "Shut up, scum." He looked down at AFO, "Don't play dumb with me. You can tell what this place just is by looking at it." He then added, "This is a place where criminals who don't deserve the death penalty."
"This is a prison, I suppose." AFO laughed a little, "Apologies, I couldn't tell what this was before, but there are so many sensors here that I couldn't tell from the get-go."
"What are you talking about?" The guard stopped for a bit, "What do you mean by that?" The guard's grip tightened on the wheelchair, "Are you seeing that you can't see anything at all?"
"Yes, for the last 6 years, I wasn't able to see anything." AFO admitted, "Besides sensing rustling in clothes and vibrations, I was dependent for the last 6 years on an "Infrared Ray" quirk to navigate the world around me, albeit it barely kept me connected to the world. Connected faintly."
AFO stopped for a bit before explaining, "This method of sensing vibrations and that quirk was the only thing keeping me sane in an otherwise silent void of nothingness. It also helped my perception of the world," AFO chuckled for a bit, "but with all these sensors around, they are messing with my ability to sense the world about me so once again I say… my apologies."
'This guy… fought All Might…' The guard stared at AFO with his shock barely contained, 'In this state… this should be impossible.' The guard then continued with his path as he deposited AFO in his cell and left leaving the villain to his thoughts.
'I lost, All Might. This was one unsightly struggle.' AFO despite mentally admitting his defeat was smiling, 'but you made a mistake. I hoped to get closer to my pupil during the fight.' AFO was smiling, 'All Might, you misread our time to say farewell, and at the same time, you lost your time to die. The thing is, to be a teacher you have to teach your pupil to be able to stand on their own.' AFO thought of Tomura imagining the boy's progress, 'but without his teacher, that boy will have his flames of anger fanned making them glow brighter. He will be forced to step forward even more. He'll be forced to take charge and lead his allies to unlock their potential.'
AFO laughed, 'Don't fear, young Tomura. Use everything you have. Anger. Hatred. Regret. Experience. Use it to shape the world in your vision.'
At the central station of the police, several police chiefs and heads were sitting as they read the news of what happened at Kamino ward, with one briefing everything, "The Nomu we captured is like the rest. They show no signs of human-like response and we won't get any information out of them. The best we can hope for is to get information on how they are made from the factory they were being stored in, or at least what remains of that factory because it was destroyed."
"Is it possible that the factory was fake," another man looked at the report, "that warehouse doesn't exactly scream at me that it's a place where monsters are manufactured." The only response that he received was that this particular issue was under investigation making the man sigh in exasperation, "Ugh… what a nightmare!"
"Let's look at the positive side," a man with well-groomed hair spoke, "We managed to capture their leader, even if that Shigaraki and his gang managed to escape, so we can say that we're at a tie, even if that is a bit naïve."
The previous man replied, "Don't live in delusions. We lost All Might, you moron. We lost our symbol of peace. His weakened form is revealed to the world. He is no longer the "Symbol of Peace", not to the people who live him, not even to the villains, not to anyone."
A couple of people murmured in agreement citing the disastrous effects of putting too much expectation on one person's shoulder.
The man then added, "And then there's this whole Shigaraki issue."
The man leaned forward, resting his head on his hands, "The world witnessed what could happen when a bunch of idiots team up together and do as they please." The man looked at the others present, "And honestly. I'm afraid. The first time we heard of this Shigaraki character. He was nothing but a man-child throwing a tantrum, but now he's growing at a terrifying rate. He's learning from his failure and working to perfect himself." The others in the room began to grow uncomfortable, "Every time he acts, his plans become more elaborate. Much better than before. Each time he fails, he returns to his sinkhole to lick his wounds and recover. With the fall of All Might, I am afraid that things are about to get more hectic than they already are."
The people present began to discuss what to do, as the man said, "Whatever we decide, we, the police, can't be forever as the clean crew for the heroes. We need to capture those guys."
In the general hospital, All Might or rather Toshinori Yagi looked at his bandaged hand, "The symbol of peace is over," All Might sighed, "The last flames of OFA have vanished from me." All Might then turned around and looked at Gran Torino and Detective Naomasa, "but there are some things left that I need to do."
Gran Torino, who was in civil attire with a bandage over his head covering his left eye, said, "You mean Tomura Shigaraki, don't you? Nana Shimura's grandson. You want to find him?"
Naomasa said, "Now, we don't know if what AFO said is true or not. This is just his claim." Naomasa leaned forward putting his hands together, "For all we know this could be a trick with no basis."
The detective sat on a chair, "Didn't any of you interact with Nana's family after her death?"
"Well," Gran began, "Nana's husband was killed by AFO so in an attempt to protect her son, she distanced herself from him. She gave her son up to make sure that he grew up away from danger with a normal family." He then looked at All Might who was deep in thought, "She also asked us to refrain from making any contact with her son under any circumstances."
"Such a tragic fate, she did all this to keep her son safe," Naomasa murmured, "Only for this to happen."
"My master parted with her son to make sure he was safe, but that monster ruined everything," All Might clenched his fist, "I have to find Tomura Shigaraki. I owe it to my master. I have to…"
"No," All Might's line of thought was shattered by Gran Torino's voice, "and what are you planning to do? Tell him that everything will be right. Sit him down for a talk? Think straight, Toshinori." Gran Torino's voice was as sharp as a blade and as cold as ice, "You're not seeing him as a villain anymore. You need to understand that no matter what lineage he comes from, he is a criminal."
Gran finished, "For now, the search for Shigaraki will be conducted by Tsukauchi and myself." Gran then told All Might, "You will remain in UA because even if All Might is gone, you're still here."
All Might sighed, "Right, I won't interfere in this process." All Might smiled, "But still, if you need anything, I will be more than willing to help you, because even if All Might is gone," Toshinori puffed into his muscle form, "I AM HE… HRGK" All Might shrank back into his normal form spitting blood as Gran Torino sighed and Naomasa laughed a little.
In the Todoroki household, Shoto arrived and knocked on the door as his older sister Fuyumi opened it and asked, "Where have you been, Shoto? I called you a million times, but you didn't answer your phone?" The girl pulled Shoto into a hug as the boy sighed.
Peeling himself away from his sister, Shoto replied, "I'm sorry, but I was out with friends and you saw what happened yesterday… It was a bit hectic to reply."
Fuyumi nodded as she looked at Shoto's phone and asked him, "What are you reading, Shoto?" Fuyumi saw the title in bold letters, 'All Might no longer able to fight'
Fuyumi chuckled nervously, "Yeah, about that?" She awkwardly pointed with her fingers to inside the house, "Well, Dad returned to the house a while back, and let's just say he's not happy…"
Shoto stared blankly at her before he asked, "When was he ever happy?"
Shoto then passed his sister and entered the house as he wondered, 'All Might is no longer able to be on the frontlines, so that must mean that the next number one hero is…'
'Stand up. How are you ever going to be a hero, if something like this keeps you down?' Shoto remembered his father's words when Endeavour used to beat him up in the name of training, 'If this is how you are, even the smallest of villains who are small fry to All Might will beat you!'
Shoto reached the training room slowly sliding the door open, and saw that the training room was in shambles with his father sitting at the center as his father panted heavily in anger.
Shoto heard his father's voice as the man growled, "No, not like this…" The man clenched his fist, "I won't accept this… I can't have this position like this… I can't become the number one hero like…"
Shoto looked at his father dispassionately before leaving the room with Endeavour saying, "I will accept this. I will refuse this…"
Back with Izuku, he returned to his house with Setsuna. Izuku looked at his girlfriend, "Set, you know that you don't have to come with me here, right?"
"I know," The green-haired girl chuckled mischievously, "but I wanted to see Mamadoriya's reaction when she sees her baby chickling has a girlfriend now." The girl then leaned forward and hugged Izuku from behind pressing her chest against his back, "Plus, it would be awesome to know where we're going to make our babies in the future." This made Izuku's face go bright red giving his best strawberry impression.
Izuku stuttered out, "Setchan, don't say something like that." The boy covered his face, "It's just too early for talks like this, and I don't think my heart could handle it nor can my mother's heart."
"Oh my," Setsuna pushed her body against Izuku's back further, "so you have been thinking about what our future children might look like? Tell me, what do you imagine them like? Do they have my cute green eyes and your messy hair along with those cute freckles, or do they have those emerald green eyes and my bouncy green hair? So, what do you think is better, Izuchan?"
Setsuna didn't get a reply as she asked, "Izuchan?" She looked and saw Izuku's soul leaving his body as she said, "Not yet." This made Izuku snap out of it as Setsuna said, "Let's go to your home."
Izuku nodded as they walked up the stairs of Izuku's apartment complex before they reached Izuku's house. Izuku went forward to knock on the door only to remember his mother's ability to flood buildings with her tears so Izuku looked at Setsuna, "Take a step back. I don't want you to get caught in the crossfire of my mother's tears."
Setsuna chuckled lightly, "Come on, big guy. How bad can it be?" Izuku gave her a deadpan as Setsuna remembered the first time she visited the Midoriya household and how Mamaodriya drenched everything with her tears so Setsuna stepped back, "Just for safety."
Izuku chuckled as he went to knock on the door hearing Setsuna mutter, "Man, wish I brought an umbrella with me." Izuku laughed a little as he finally knocked on the door.
Izuku waited for a moment before his mom opened the door, waving her hands around in worry, "Izuku, are you alright? I saw what happened on the news." The woman began to check over Izuku, "Please tell me that you weren't anywhere near that place. Poor All Might, he looked like he was struggling during that fight. I saw the news, and I know how hard it must be for you to see your favorite hero retire, but he's still going to teach you at UA, so that's a win."
Izuku gently moved his mother back, "I'm fine, Mom. In fact, I was in a completely different prefecture playing in an arcade with my friends, so no, I wasn't anywhere near Kamino ward."
Inko sighed, "In that case," she suddenly pulled Izuku into a bone-crushing hug, "My baby boy, I'm so happy that you're safe, but please next time head home directly." Mamadoriya's tear ducts began to activate as Izuku said, "Mom, we have guests. Please control yourself."
Before she got the chance to unleash her tears, Inko looked and saw Setsuna standing there awkwardly as Setsuna waved her hand, "Hey, Miss Inko. How are you today?"
Inko quickly pulled Setsuna into a hug with Izuku, "Setsuna, dear. It's so nice to see you again."
Setsuna nodded, "It's nice to see you too, Miss Inko, but we saw each other a few days ago."
Inko chuckled, "I know, but I love you so much. It's like you're my daughter."
Inko then dragged both children inside the house as she asked Setsuna, "Dear, shouldn't you call your parents to tell them that you're fine? I'm sure that they're worried, right now?"
Setsuna replied, "Yeah, I called them and explained the situation to them, and calmed them down." Setsuna left the part out where her mother threw a hissy fit knowing that Setsuna was going to visit Izuku's house because her mother still thinks Izuku is a bad influence.
How her mother remotely thinks Izuku is a bad influence is beyond her. Setsuna supposed it was one of those mysteries that no one could come up with a solution.
Inko then hummed, "Well, if your parents are on speed, then I have no problem." The woman stood up and went into the kitchen, "I will bring something for you to eat. I bet you're both so tired after this horrible night. Do you want sandwiches or something else?"
Setsuna raised her hand, "Well, to be honest, I can go for a small bite, if it isn't too much of a bother for you, Miss Inko." Inko giggled before she went into the kitchen to make some sandwiches for Izuku and Setsuna to eat.
Setsuna then sat beside Izuku gently grabbing with Izuku putting her hand on his lap gently stroking it. Setsuna asked, "So when are we going to tell your mother that we're a couple."
Izuku hummed before he replied, "Let's see her reaction regarding the whole still going to UA thing, before I tell something this huge. I don't want to overwhelm her with too many things."
Setsuna rolled her eyes, "Izuchan, I already told you that your mother still wants you to go to UA." The girl shook her head, "Why are so insistent on asking if she wants to?"
Izuku shrugged, "I just want to hear from the source itself. I just want to know what's going to happen in case my mom doesn't want me to go to U.A. anymore."
Setsuna frowned, "Fine, but just expect me to tell you 'I told you so' when you hear the answer."
Moments later, Inko came back with snacks as she put the snack tray in front of Izuku and Setsuna. Setsuna picked a sandwich and Izuku took a carrot stick. The two began to eat as Izuku asked his mother, "Mom, after everything that happened, do you still want to allow me to go to UA?"
Inko blinked as she hummed, "Well, at first I wasn't planning to," This made Izuku's blood go cold but his mother moved on, "But I had a talk with Setsuna and after much consideration, I decided to let you go since at the end of the day, this is your choice and I did sign a waiver regarding that basically says that while the school will do its best to protect your life, you are still a hero student and there's a chance you might get injured, maimed, or worst dead, so yeah." Inko crossed her arms, "You can still go but for the love of God, Izuku. Take better care of yourself, okay?"
Izuku nodded, "You got it, Mom."
Inko sighed and put a hand on her cheek, "Somehow, this doesn't fill me with confidence." This made Izuku's face fall in disappointment as Setsuna and Inko laughed together at Izuku's expression.
Inko then wiped a tear from her eye and looked at both teens, "So, what do you have for me?"
Izuku and Setsuna looked at each other and they grabbed each other's hand. Now, this move grabbed Inko's attention and her mind began to connect the dots. Izuku opened his mouth, "Mom, I want to tell you that Setchan and I…" Setsuna carried on, "…are a dating now."
Inko froze as Izuku asked her, "Mom, are you alright?" Izuku then saw the tears beginning to fill his mother's eyes as he said, "Mom, please. Control yourself. The plumbing bill for the apartment building is insane every time you cry, and our neighbors from down the stairs are always complaining about leaks from our apartment. I think they're one flood away from suing us."
Mamadoriya didn't care as the crying began, "My baby has a girlfriend." And with that, another episode of Inko's crying began flooding the entire apartment complex.
Right now, Izuku was sleeping peacefully in his bed resting his body after last night's horrifying experience. Even though he wasn't at Kamino Ward, he could still feel the intensity of the battle from the TV screen. Add to that, his classmates from both classes 1-A and 1-B asking him for help to extract Kamakiri in the middle of the fight between AFO and All Might was nerve-wracking.
Any miscalculation could have led to those 8 students' deaths. It was a stressful night, to say the least, so yeah, he deserved this wonderful sleep he was having.
His phone suddenly began to buzz which made Izuku groan in annoyance wondering who was disturbing his sleep. Izuku woke up expecting to find that it was Setsuna reviewing their date's plans for the day after tomorrow only to see it was All Might asking Izuku to meet the man at the beach.
This alone made Izuku bolt out of his bed and run to the door as Inko peaked from the kitchen, "Izuku, where are you going in such a hurry?" she looked back into the kitchen, "At least, wait a little bit. Dinner is about to be finished. You need to have a bite before you leave."
Izuku fumbled as he put on his shoes. "Sorry, Mom. This can't wait." With that, Izuku opened his apartment door and headed to the beach to meet his mentor.
Izuku ran as fast as he could to the beach. The boy wondered what his mentor might have to tell him. The boy's heart pounded in his chest as he finally reached the beach. The boy looked around and began searching for his mentor until his eyes landed on the man. Standing alone, All Might was in his weak form with a bandage around his head and his arm in slang.
Izuku yelled in happiness, "All Might."
All Might looked toward Izuku, "Hmmm, so you finally arrived here."
Izuku began waving his hand, "All Might," the hero chuckled, "Sure, took you long enough kid." However, as Izuku made his way closer to All Might, the hero said, "Texas…" The hero cocked his fist back and waited for Izuku to get in range before he punched Izuku in the face, "Smash"
The boy was sent flying to the ground as All Might said, "You have a hard time doing as told, don't you, kid." The hero sighed and shook his head, "That was inches away from the edge…"
Izuku rubbed his cheek wondering what he did wrong as All Might said, "To be honest my boy, I was referring to myself. My body is no longer able to support me. I'm no longer able to fight anymore." The hero sighed and puffed up punching the air for a few moments before he shriveled down into his skinny form spitting blood, "As you can see, the fumes that I was running on have finally evaporated for good. The embers of OFA inside me are finally gone."
Izuku looked down at the ground as he clenched his fist before looking at All Might who said, "I'm sure that you can tell that I can't maintain my muscular form anymore, but there's one thing…"
All Might looked at Izuku, "That being said… I have one thing to say… no matter how many times you're told to stay out of trouble… no matter how many times you're told to stay put." Izuku became confused wondering what All Might was talking about, "No matter how many times you're told not to do something stupid… you just jump headfirst in trouble."
All Might looked away, "Sheesh, and people say that you're becoming too much like me."
Izuku then asked, "All Might, what are you talking about? Do you mean fighting Muscular?"
All Might blinked, "Don't play dumb. I mean what happened back at Kamino Ward when you and your classmates crashed into the rescue mission to save Kamakiri," All Might then sat down hugging Izuku, "But what matters is that you're okay."
Izuku nodded but said, "I really appreciate your concern, but I was never at Kamino Ward yesterday. I was in an arcade with my friends and we were playing games."
All Might looked at Izuku, "Really, now? And how did those kids pull off this flawless plan?"
Izuku shrugged, "Shoto called me and it was help them or let them flop around and quite possibly make their rescue attempt end in disaster." All Might blinked in shock, "What choice did I have back then? I needed to help or they could've become stuck in the middle of the fight and made it harder for you to fight."
All Might began to laugh and wiped a tear from his eye, "In that case, I'm sorry for punching you."
Izuku then yelled, "Wait! You punched me for that? What happened to asking me if I was there?"
All Might rubbed his head sheepishly, "Well, to be honest, my boy… uh…" Izuku gave All Might a deadpan as All Might finally got something, "Well, it's just that whenever there is danger, you somehow find yourself in the middle and with your limbs broken or injured."
Izuku opened his mouth to retort, but couldn't find a reply, "I hate the fact that you're right."
All Might chuckled, "Anyway, my boy," All Might now sighed, "As I said earlier, I can't be a hero anymore, but that doesn't mean I'll let you go," All Might hugged Izuku once more, "Going on forward, I'll dedicate myself to helping get better in using OFA. From here on out, I'll help you further develop in mastering all the secrets of OFA including its quirks."
Izuku touched by All Might's words felt his eyes tear up, "All… All Might..." the boy began to cry.
"You really have a hard time following orders, right?" All Might chastised him lightly, "How many times did I tell you to stop being such a crybaby?" All Might then hummed, "though I think being such a crybaby is what helped you get a girlfriend after all."
Izuku stopped crying as his face steamed, "All Might!" All Might laughed and raffled Izuku's head.
Izuku smiled lightly, but deep down he knew without a doubt that this was the end of the age of All Might… and Izuku had to adapt or he'd never be able to make it out there.
The following day, the news was going wild, as All Might officially announced his retirement. It wasn't an easy thing, but it was expected, however, the hero chart board JP took this up by writing articles about All Might's true form that not only shook the entirety of Japan but also the association of heroes in America. His retirement also grabbed attention, but it was accompanied by news about the number 4 hero Best Jeanist who barely survived his scuffle with AFO.
In the UA, All Might, Vlad, and Aizawa stood in front of Nezu who read the news, "Well, it appears the sacrifices that were made have saved a lot of lives in the long run," Nezu looked at All Might, "As a fellow hero and the principal of UA, I can't thank you enough, All Might."
"However, there is something that you need to know All Might, your plan to continue here teaching at UA has begun to stir some discomfort among the populace," Nezu sighed as he explained the situation to All Might, "People are worried All Might. As much as they love and trust you, they still have children and they are worried that if your presence here at UA was the reason why villains attacked, so what would stop villains from attacking again?"
'He's right. They're right too. I should have seen this coming once I took the teaching job,' All Might clenched his fist, 'I should have been prepared better for this day, but I wasn't and this caused so much trouble for everyone in the grand scheme of things.'
"I understand your concerns, principle Nezu." All Might said, "But please, don't fire me. I still have so much to teach the new generations…"
"Fire you?" Nezu blinked in surprise, "Oh, dear, All Might. That's funny." Nezu laughed, "Don't worry about that, I won't fire you." All Might smiled as Nezu continued, "I still have to squeeze everything I can squeeze out of you before I deem you not useful anymore."
Vlad chuckled while Aizawa rolled his eyes at Nezu's theatrics. All Might only gulped in fear.
"Putting that aside, the situation is still making everyone nervous and fearful for the lives of their children and that can't be ignored," Nezu explained, "So, we need to take all the precautions necessary to keep our students safe and out of harm's reach because we don't know if the villains will now begin attacking them outside the school. We must reinforce people's trust in us like how they used to trust All Might." The 3 heroes looked at Nezu who said, "I have a plan for that."
Nezu slid a paper forward. The 3 looked at it as Aizawa lifted it, "Hmmm, so we're planning to bring the dorm plan this year instead of the next one." Aizawa rubbed his chin, "Seems logical, but still, this will be challenging. We can barely control those kids in class, so how are planning to keep them from killing each other in the dorms."
Vlad and All Might looked at Aizawa both thinking as they sweat-dropped, 'Isn't that a little too much? They're just kids, not some bloodthirsty barbarians.'
Nezu said, "While your concerns have been taken into consideration, Aizawa, however in light of the various incidents that have happened, we have to take these steps to make sure all of our students are raised and nurtured in at the least semi-normal environment." Nezu leaned forward pressing his paws together, "The threat of our enemy hasn't been eliminated entirely, so we can't in good faith act like Shigaraki and his gang are just going to play nice."
All Might rubbed his chin, "While I'm not against the idea, what's to stop Shigaraki from using Kurogiri to go into UA and cause havoc inside the dorms? This is a real risk."
"A valid concern," Nezu nodded his head, "but I have taken precautions regarding this subject by buying some anti-teleportation devices that prevent quirk users from outside UA to teleport inside of it." Aizawa opened his mouth as Nezu said, "No, it won't affect students inside UA." Aizawa went dead silent.
"Men, I know this is hard," Nezu said, "but we need to act accordingly to the demands of the current situation, so do you all agree with me?"
The three men nodded as Nezu said, "Wonderful," he rubbed his head a little, "Now, I already commissioned Cementoss to start building the dorms, but regarding the hero course of the first year, there is something that I'm not sure of." He looked at the teachers, "So, I want your opinion."
Vlad asked, "And what is that thing that left you confused?"
Nezu laughed, "Oh dear, no, I'm not confused. I just was worried for your and Aizawa's health."
"Just spit it out," Aizawa demanded, "We're used to you, Nezu. There's nothing you can do that can surprise us." Vlad shrugged, wondering what the thing was that would shock them heavily.
Nezu hummed, "I was wondering if we should put both classes 1-A and 1-B in one dorm."
Aizawa's and Vlad's eyes almost bulged out, "Absolutely not. Are you trying to make us go insane?"
All Might hummed, "You know this isn't actually such a bad idea." He felt the cold glares of both Vlad and Aizawa as he backtracked, "Please let me explain, I mean let's look at the efforts put in by the class presidents and the vices of class 1-A and 1-B. Young Kedno, Midoriya, Yaoyorozu, and Jiro have been trying to mend the rift caused by various incidents such as the sports festival, the Stain incident, the final exams, and most importantly… Bakugo." Aizawa felt himself shrink as his former student had caused so much trouble, "and that whole ridiculous conspiracy thing."
Aizawa facepalmed, "Please, don't remind me of it." The man rubbed his temples, "I still can't believe Kirishima thought that class 1-B was trying to empty class 1-A of their powerhouses."
"No, that isn't ridiculous," Vlad countered making Aizawa look at him, "what is ridiculous is that Kirishima thought that my students sought out the hero killer Stain of all people to do that."
All Might nodded, "Yes, and it's due to that. I think putting both students in the same dorm will help make a connection between them and will nurture a healthy sense of rivalry instead of a toxic one." All Might coughed into his fist, "Monoma…" All Might then carried on, "Man, my cough is bad today," he looked at both teachers with Aizawa giving him a blank look, "So, what do you think?"
Aizawa considered the idea. While he believes in a healthy rivalry, he still thinks that things went so south so fast, but putting 40 teenagers in the same building with some colorful characters like Monoma, Iida, and Kamakiri would stir some feathers, but still if this can help them become closer to each other, he isn't technically against that. He just doesn't want to one day run down the street in his boxer shorts because his students drove him mad.
Vlad hummed. This wasn't a bad idea altogether if they managed to control the situation. This could erode the lingering effects of the whole conspiracy thing and amplify unity between both classes and that unity is much more needed than anything right now due to the challenges on the horizon. These challenges demanded all hands on deck and this united dorm might be it.
Aizawa first answered, "Fine, I'll go with your crazy plan to send me to the insane asylum, but first, I want guarantees that dorms will be under our supervision 24/7 to make sure nothing happens."
Vlad seconded Aizawa, "Look, principle Nezu. I don't this is a bad idea, but what Aizawa said is right, we need something to make sure we keep track of the students to make sure to intervene if things get too dicey for the class representatives."
Nezu nodded, "Of course, I took this into consideration so I'll put 4 cameras inside that dorm."
"Is that all?" Nezu asked as the three teachers nodded, "Good, in that case, Vlad and All Might head to the houses of class 1-B students to inform their parents of our plans. Aizawa, you and Midnight head to class 1-A." the three nodded as Nezu said, "Now, go. Chop, chop."
3 hours later, All Might and Vlad were sitting in front of Ibara Shiozaki's parents. Ibara's father gave them a flat look, "Look, I understand you're doing what you think is the best here, but any logical person on this person won't accept his daughter or son to go to your school." The man crossed his hands, "It's not like I don't trust you, but the risks are too high, and honestly, I know I signed a waiver that acknowledges the danger of heroics, I thought at least the first year would be somewhat peaceful for the kids, not having my daughter get thrown from one life-threatening situation into another, so tell me, why should I agree to let her go?"
"Mr. Shiozaki, you have every reason to doubt us, and to be honest, I don't blame you." Vlad admitted, "But I can assure you that your daughter's presence in UA won't put her in any kind of threat, especially with the new dorm system. We'll have heroes circling the dorms 24/7. We'll have security cameras fixed both outside and inside the dorms to make sure that no outsider enters the dorms." Vlad then pointed out saying, "Don't you also think it would be a little bit unfair to separate your daughter from her friends? From what she told me, she didn't have any before UA."
Ibara's father sighed, "Look, I don't want to play hardball here, but all these words aren't enough to make me feel more comfortable, and I can…" The man stopped when he felt someone grip his shoulder hard like a beartrap snapped on his shoulder. The man's face paled as he turned to face his wife, "Sweet muffins!"
The woman had a dark aura around her, "Are trying to uproot your daughter's entire system?"
The man shook his head fervently, "Of course not. I'm just making sure our daughter is safe."
Ibara then came into the room holding a tray of tea as she poured some for her parents and teachers, "So, what are you here for, Vlad-sensei, All Might-sensei?"
Vlad, unsure of what to say after seeing a man get terrified half to death by a woman half his size, said, "Well, we just wanted to make sure that your parents accept the dorm system plan."
Ibara looked at her parents as her mother nodded with her father signing the dorm document like he was trying to avoid the guillotine.
All Might, who remained silent this entire time, thought, 'I guess I now know who wears the pants in this relationship.' The man's thoughts wandered to Izuku, 'Come to think of it, who wears the pants in young Midoriya's and Tokage's relationship?' All Might then remembered how shy Izuku is, 'Yeah, definitely young Tokage wears the pants in this relationship.'
In Izuku's house, Izuku didn't know why, but he felt like someone challenged his manhood.
The next stop on All Might's and Vlad's journey was Kamakiri's house. They both looked at the apartment door as All Might gulped, "This is going to be awkward. I bet we'll have to kneel."
Vlad rolled his eyes, "Come on, don't be so negative." The man knocked on the door, "I don't think it will be so difficult." The man's words didn't carry any weight since he was sweating.
"Coming," Vlad and All Might heard Kamakiri's voice come from inside the house. The door then opened as Kamakiri looked at both his teachers, "Vlad-sensei, All Might-sensei, what are you doing here? Is there any round of investigations because I already had enough at the police station?"
All Might shook his head, "Not really, young Kamakiri. We have something to discuss with your mother." All Might then nodded his head toward the apartment, "So, can we enter?"
"Of course," Kamakiri nodded quickly, "Enter. Give me a moment to call my mom."
Both men entered the house and saw a small humble home with a shrine dedicated to a man with green hair like Kamakiri. All Might said, "I guess that's young Kamakiri's father."
Kamakiri then popped in, "Come on. Let's go to the sitting room." He dragged both men by their hands, "My mom is waiting for you and wants to hear what you have to say right now because she needs to go to her job."
Once both men entered the living room, they sat on a couch and saw a woman with grasshopper-like features sipping tea quietly. Kamakiri sat beside his mom as the woman asked happily, "How can I help you, gentlemen? And please, be quick. I have a job I need to go to. Bills aren't going to pay themselves after all."
Vlad cleared his throat, "Well, you see, ma'am. After the recent incidents at UA, we decided that it would be in our students' best interest to put them all in a boarding system to keep them safe from villains' reach." Vlad then looked at Kamakiri, "I know it might be a hard stretch asking this of…"
Kamakiri's mother replied by cutting Vlad off, "Okay, where do I have to sign?"
"Ma'am, I know this is ha…" Vlad's mind then processed the reply, "Wait, what? That easily…"
"Well, it's not like I have another choice," Kamakiri's mother explained her situation, "First off, Kamakiri has so many good friends who risked their lives to go and save them and I don't want to take him from such wonderful people given he never had any…"
Kamakiri shouted, "I ain't friends with these losers…" Kamakiri was cut off by his mother bonking him slightly on the head as he rubbed the assaulted spot, "Not cool, ma."
Kamakiri's mother then added, "Second off, I'm a waitress at a local dinner, so I pretty much went penniless when I put Togaru in UA so withdrawing him isn't an option anymore, so I'm pretty much damned if I do and damned if I don't." Kamakiri's mom then signed the document.
All Might coughed, "Ma'am, with all due respect. If you want to take out your son, UA does give refunds." He felt a glare from Vlad as All Might looked at him, "We have to make her know everything. We are heroes, not businessmen trying to scam her." Vlad sighed but nodded.
"They refund half of the money which with all due respect can't even fund Kamakiri going to normal high school," the woman sighed, "So, like I said damned if I do or damned if I don't." The woman stood up, "Now, excuse me, gentlemen, but I have to go to work."
The woman then left them as Kamakiri said, "Well, that didn't take much convincing." All Might laughed and Vlad sighed. Kamakiri said, "Well, let's eat something. I'll make us rice balls."
Vlad stood up, "I really want to, Kamakiri, but we still have about 18 students to talk to other than you." The man nudged All Might who stood and bowed before leaving.
Outside the apartment, All Might asked, "Who's next on the list?"
Vlad looked and said, "Oh dear lord, next we have Tsunotori. This is going to be one annoying conversation." Vlad facepalmed, "From what Nezu told me before we left, her parents want to have a direct face-to-face conversation, so we're going to have to call them online."
"Well, I have this covered," All Might said with a smile, "I happen to know young Tsunotori's aunt who is Cowlady. We used to work together in some missions when I was still in America, and I can safely say that we're good friends, so my word will hold some sway."
"Well, that's good," Vlad sighed, "Who knew you being a chatterbox would help us at some point?" Vlad joked making All Might's face fall in disappointment as Vlad said, "Come on, cheer up. I'm kidding. Now call that Cowlady woman and talk to her, so Tsunotori's turn goes smoothly."
All Might nodded and took out his phone dialing a number as the other opened, "Hello…" Vlad was then treated to a ten-minute chat between All Might and Cowlady as they reminisced about memories before All Might went into business. After that, they call Pony's parents who agreed to let Pony participate in the dorm system after they got guarantees from Cowlady.
After 15 other house visits, Vlad and All Might reached the last two houses which were Tokage's and Midoriya's households as All Might said, "I hope those two aren't going too hard."
Vlad shrugged, "This is going to be hard no matter what." He looked at All Might, "So, who do we start with first?"
All Might said, "According to Nezu, the Tokage household is much closer to us than the Midoriya household is so let's go there first, and then we'll finish our trip to young Midoriya's household."
Vlad nodded as they took a 15-minute walk to Tokage's house. The two men stood in front of it, "Well, that's quite the humble household for such wealthy lawyers." Vlad commented.
All Might replied, "Hmm, well… I heard they spend most of their money on charities and put it in life savings for their daughters." All Might hummed slightly, "That or their reputation is just exaggerated. Whatever the case is, let's go inside and talk with them to get the go."
Vlad nodded as he knocked on the door. He had a gut feeling this meeting would go smoothly…
…moments later, he regretted trusting that gut feeling since it was absolutely wrong. Tokage's father was obviously skeptical and Vlad couldn't blame him. That was normal. He saw those skeptical faces with all his 18 previous students except Kamakiri's mom who had an 'I have no other choice' face, so Vlad knew he had to explain the situation much more thoroughly to the man and Hiroto would expect his explanation…
The true problem and the one making Vlad's and All Might's blood pressure rise was the wife Aoi. The wife ruined this meeting from the start when she stated if she was to accept to send her daughter back to UA, they needed to put her in a different classroom because someone was corrupting her and constantly trying to have his way with Setsuna. When Vlad asked who was that person, Aoi said it was a boy named Izuku Midoriya. Vlad could practically hear Setsuna's facepalm from the kitchen along with a huge sigh.
The woman then went rambling on about how Izuku tried to seduce her daughter when he took Setsuna once to his home, about how Izuku was nothing but a barbaric person citing Izuku's fight in the final battle of the sports festival, about how Izuku is an attention seeking kid who always goes headfirst into trouble endangering everyone around him, and finally about how a bad influence in general.
Vlad looked at All Might who looked back at the man both of them blinking in confusion. They both wondered if the woman was talking about the same Izuku Midoriya from UA.
Vlad cleared his throat, "Ma'am with all due respect, first off changing classrooms isn't possible since this only happens during the second year if both teachers agree to it and that isn't happening because my fellow teacher and myself are quite pleased with our classes." The woman eyed him with boredom, "Second off, please refrain from painting one of my best students like he's a villain in the making when I'm sure you know next to nothing about him."
Aoi replied, "Then, in that case, I won't allow her to go. I want what's best for my daughter and putting near a bad influence like that boy will ruin her future and any chance she has if she wants to live a normal life." The woman rolled her eyes, "And this whole 'I don't know anything about him' is ridiculous. I've seen his types too much in court. Those innocent poor types who look like they wouldn't harm a fly, but they are only psychopaths hiding in plain sight. Did you see what he did to that Bakugo kid during the sports festival?"
All Might replied dryly, "Did you see what young Bakugo did to your daughter?"
The woman opened her mouth to retort, but couldn't find a good answer. Vlad said, "Look, ma'am. Don't ruin your daughter's future over a wrong impression on someone. This dorm system is for own good. Plus, if you were to meet Midoriya and get to know him better, you'd see he's a complete… well, a shy boy would fall over if a girl blinked in his direction."
Aoi replied, "In that case, I will send her to Shiketsu. It's your rival and just as good." She then added, "And as far away from that kid as possible, because I'm not ruining my dau…"
"Oh, hell no," Setsuna marched into the room, "I'm in no way in hell going into a military school. Did you lose your mind in one of those cases?" Setsuna put her hands around her neck, "I'd rather strangle myself than go into a school that treats its students like they are soldiers going to war."
"Clam down, young lady." Aoi stood facing her daughter, "Listen here and listen well. I'm doing what's good for you. Not only will Shiketsu help straighten this attitude of yours, but perhaps you'll meet some good friends, unlike that Midoriya kid that you hang with so much. Did you forget he almost got you killed when he fought against Muscular?"
"That again. For the love of… URGH," Setsuna screamed in frustration, "Muscular was about to kill a child, and I'm the one who stayed against Izuku's wishes. He practically begged me to leave, but I was the one who refused. Furthermore, Izuku almost destroyed his hands permanently protecting me." Setsuna crossed her arms, "Plus, I don't want to hear you badmouthing my boyfriend ever again."
A pin drop could be heard after that declaration as the showdown between the mother and the daughter intensified with Hana coming from the kitchen and whispering into her father's ear, "For the love of god, Dad. Just sign the damned papers before those two kill each other."
Hiroto signed the papers, "Please excuse my family's actions. My wife is just a bit hung over about something that happened in her past. Don't let this ruin your impression of us." The man quickly guided the two heroes outside closing the door as the sounds of screaming could be heard from inside.
All Might looked at Vlad, "Well, that was something. Still, the way she talked about young Midoriya, sounded so personal. It's like she was sure he'll be like she imagined."
"Tell me about it. I feel bad for the young man," Vlad as he and All Might walked to Izuku's house, "they say if the father hates you, you're a rebel. If the mother hates you, you're toast."
All Might laughed, "She'll come around."
5 minutes later, they arrived at Izuku's household. They both knocked on the door and Izuku opened the door, "Vlad-sensei, All Might-sensei, please come in. My mom is waiting for you in the living room."
Both men walked inside the house to discuss the new dorm system with Izuku's mother, and it went smoother than expected with the woman presenting her doubts asking for logical answers with both teachers providing her with balanced explanations that satisfied her.
"Please, come back," Izuku said to his teachers as they left the Midoriya household. Izuku slid against the door, "This went better than I expected it to be."
Suddenly the door was knocked, Izuku wondered if his teachers had forgotten to tell them something. Izuku opened the door and found Setsuna standing with evident signs of crying on her face. Izuku asked her, "What's wrong, Setchan?" he then noticed she had a bag with her, "And what's with the bag?"
Setsuna sighed, "It's a long story, but to keep it short. I fought with my mom and decided to come and live with you and your mom until we go to the dorms." The girl put her hands together, "I hope this isn't too much trouble for you and your mother."
"No, of course not," Izuku waved his hand, "You're the girl I love and I must take care of you, but still… why did you fight with your mother?"
'How can my mother even think Izuku is remotely evil or a bad person?' Setsuna thought before she said, "Let's not talk about it. Okay, let's talk about our date tomorrow."
Izuku was unsure, but he nodded. He then yelled, "Mom, Setchan wants to bunk with us for a couple of days until we go to the dorms in a week."
"Okay, Izuku," his mother's voice came from the kitchen.
Izuku then took Tokage's hand and led her inside as Setsuna hugged Izuku from behind, "My hero."
A week later, Izuku and Setsuna stood in front of the moving van. They just finished loading Setsuna's stuff which Hana brought from Setsuna's house. The couple looked at each other before they headed to UA together.
Author's notes:
Welcome back to a new chapter of my story, guys. Apologies if the chapter felt a little weak, but it's been a while since I last wrote something. So now regarding this chapter, it mostly covered the aftermath of All Might's final fight against AFO, the dorm system, and a couple of noticeable interactions, and for those wondering when Setsuna's mother will stop Izuku-hating soon enough with a background story on why she treats Izuku this way, so please go easy on me in the comment section. Apologies for going off for a long while, but believe me when I say it was something I couldn't help because it was a life-or-death matter. There will be a new uploading schedule where I will begin to update each 2 stories every two weeks, so I can write faster and have better ideas to work on, so going forward it will be 'Deku in Class 1-B' and 'Discord: The Chaos Hero' on one week, and the next one will have a KNYxMHA story and 'The Trip into Dekuverse'. The next chapter will mostly focus on the move to the dorms and the preparation for the provisional hero exam (you can put your ideas for Izuku's provisional license exam and the best will be adapted).
As always please take care of yourselves, write your opinion about the current chapter in the reviews, and tell what I can do to make the story better.
And finally, I hope you enjoy reading my work, and see you next time with a brand new chapter.
