Welcome to the fifth chapter of My Country Hearts, In the original story, Caroline has now become award of the state taken from her family whom she used to know was cruel and mean to her to a new well not only a new family yet but to a guardian who will keep her safe and protected.

Well, her old family causes trouble you'll have to find out. How they do it.

Today was the day I was ready to stay healthy for someone who would take me as their guardian to protect me from my evil parents

My dreams were about to come true I was gonna be taken from those evil bastards those cruel evil people who treated me so badly and also didn't get why they were at my competition. I don't know why they were even there. What was their deal? Why were they at my competition?

I told my friends that my evil parent showed up at my competition and ripped up my dress and hair. They were horrified to know about this. I mean, they knew that my parents were cruel people, but they didn't know how cruel they said Caroline it ain't it ain't gonna happen anymore you'll be given to a good guardian who will take care of you. It was a process I had to go through a competition for that, but not in the same way as my performance competitions it was more like I had someone who would take care of me and I had to look presentable.

They said I could become a day student depending on the person who chooses me and I can only then I could still stay on campus for certain events and once a week or twice a week if I'd like that way, I can still hang out with my friends, I agreed and for other competitions and things if it isn't my weekly days to stay.

But that was OK. I would gladly sacrifice being a day student than being a dorm student for a few days a week not a month but a week I didn't have to ride the bus home either and I'll be riding a regular school bus to school every day unless it's my nights to stay on campus or they can give me another choice there are day students who do stay on campus five days a week, but they don't come in on Sunday, but they come in on Monday. You can choose to do that if you'd like, I might consider it to stay five days a week. Yes, I can do that.

I chose that good that's a good choice and they said choosing to come five days instead of just two or three would be great. You can spend more time with your friends. I smiled knowing I could do this.

Then I was taken to the place to meet my new guardian or guardians depending on how many it was a man and a woman. They were nice. I didn't know them, but they introduced themselves.

They were rich I can tell they had a limousine beautiful limousine pulled up to the school for me to have an interview with them. The school helped me get in. We're gonna have an interview with them here on campus the school said and the state people did too. We'll meet in the conference room.

When we met for IEP meetings, the two of them nodded. Come let us go.

And we did that is where we went to the conference room and we sat in there like it was an IEP, but it wasn't. I think we found the perfect couple to take this lovely little girl. The principal said she's a ward of the state now and you will be her guardians the two of them nodded I asked what should I call you. The girl said I am Reina you call me, Reina, and audited and this is Deacon I'm Degan. He said that's what you call me I nodded and where are your guardians we will keep you safe.

And what should we call you they asked oh for my name it's Caroline. I said Caroline they said again. OK, we like it. It's cute.

They asked me a lot of questions like what am I interested in in my hobbies and I told him about music and becoming part of the mid-state choir and Allstate choir mostly Allstate and then becoming midstate and I was in band and chorus and I take private piano and guitar lessons and voice lessons and I'm in the school's radio station. I have a lot of friends that I like to hang out with and play cards with.

They asked me if I had a boyfriend and I said no I don't have time. I'm always busy.

Besides music what else do you like? They asked well I like to watch TV sometimes and I like to chill and I like nice things. I like nice clothes once in a while, but I'm not greedy about it well you're gonna get a lot of luxuries from now on, they said we will spoil you like you're our daughter and we have our children and children from different ways they say.

Also, like the song right I said I write my songs that's incredible. They said it was so nice to have someone interested in my music career will help you with your career they said will help you get connections. They said in some way or another if not, will help you get into like a TV show like one of those reality TV shows where you try out for music but later on in your life not now. You should enjoy school and get as much learning as you can, but also enhance your abilities talents nurture them Make sure you never lose them. Do you think I'm poor? No, they said you were not a poor blind girl they said, and you will never be a beggar because you were blind who said those things my other parents I said my original parents well those adopted parents of yours were stupid. They didn't see the most talented and beautiful girl right in front of them I told them all about them ripping up my clothes and cutting my hair. Your hair will grow back and tight. Her clothes are pretty bad, but it's not that bad. They said as long as you have your dignity, you were fine they said as long as your dignity stays intact I had all kinds of poor things I said, just the bare necessities of things like had toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, and stuff like that they would get me clothing. I would always wear the same clothes I said.

Were they poor? No, I said. But they weren't really rich either they were middle class they could afford luxuries for themselves, but they wouldn't give me anything nice I'd wear the same clothes every year sometimes they were closed that were too small because I would grow I say.

Sometimes I'd wear the same clothes for years, but they could afford themselves new clothes other things luxuries and things I never got much but we poor things you'll get everything from now on they said I just nodded my head. OK, you'll be taking care of your school will take care of you and we'll take care of you. I cleaned them and held them, and if my adopted parents ever tried to come after me, you all can stand in their way. We are now your legal guardians. All you have to do is sign the paperwork you were old enough to write I am 16 I said then yes you were old enough to sign your papers. The school even agreed and helped me go through the necessary paperwork. I had new people to call home to new people for a centric new people, but I'm not Centrex because I would go home mostly every day except a few days a week and I didn't have to make a Centrex I agreed to stay on campus five days a week that means I got a full weekend at home which was nice.

Since you told us, you're close to your friends, we will make sure you come and stay here as much as we can in five days that's good Monday through Friday and then you can come home. I nodded and you can spend all weekend with us. I was happy I was no longer tied to that evil awful family who treated me like a peasant I was gonna be loved and cherished from now on.

That made me so happy we'll take most of your things back to our home. You can keep some things here so you can have stuff here, but we'll take most of your things back to our new house and will buy you all new clothes this weekend. We're going shopping with a girl named Ray. The woman named Reina said you're gonna get all new clothes everything you're getting a new wardrobe anything you want I smiled I can have anything I want you can buy whatever we buy everything out she said will go shopping.

Did you know I never had dolls? I told her they said they were too much of a luxury item. You will have dolls and a dollhouse even though you're 16 I smiled at my first dolls, any dolls you can buy as many as you want and a full dollhouse that made me happy you can get dolls for collecting and dolls to play with. They said that was good so I can have some just to look at.

Sounds good I can't wait for the shopping spree. I said we'll have a good time. She said we'll even make up for all your birthday since we knew your birthday. I wondered how they knew my birthday. We have lots of gifts for you. They have lots of gifts for me who are these people? I wondered why they had so many gifts and makeup for all my birthdays that had been missed for all these years.

Sounds like you're gonna have a nice life with these new people. The school said I smiled and I'll have a place to go instead of just living here cause I can't live here on campus and will help you find your birth family. They said I smiled not knowing they would help me with my dream but how they knew that was my dream. These people were odd to me but nice. I didn't call them mom and dad because they weren't my parents, but they were nice enough to be like parents to me.

We'll even get you brand-new music gear. They said you'll get to see all your new gifts and you're beautiful room. I smiled OK and you can turn your friends over if you'd like from time to time if you don't wanna stay on campus and you wanna have sleepovers or whatever OK I said sounds great.

When do I get to see this new home of mine soon they said we'll come back and pick you up tonight so you can spend the night in your first house your first new house and will bring you back to school even though you'll be staying on campus. We want you to get used to your new home that sounds like a good idea. I said OK you can take me home after school I said.

These two singers I know were singers who were popular back in the 90s and early 2000s time now I know the girl was Reina James the hottest country singer in the past in the 90s and even today and Deacon Claiborne they were big singers I knew all their songs too.

No way are they my parents that is crazy. They even told me I have an older sister who is looking forward to seeing me. Her name is Elenia. Elenia That's her name. They said well I like it I said. It'll be great to meet her. She's not your sister, but she will be like a sister to you. I like that even better. I said that she's like a sister to me.

Go and finish your school work they said go finish your school day and then we will be waiting for you. The school day is almost over, isn't it? I nod it OK we will bring you back for school tomorrow. You'll finish your classes and then we'll go pack up your dorm. I nodded. I did as they were told. I went to class and finished up and told them told my friends that I had new people to take me home with them as there was a new guardian. Everyone was happy that I had a new guardian to take care of me.

And they went crazy when I told him who it was it was the deacon Claiborne and Rayna James, the biggest two singers in the world, the hottest couple singers in the world they were gonna be my guardians that was crazy.

If I didn't feel like a princess after my family ran off and left me and I chose to not have a family right now I felt even more like a princess.

And not a raggedy Cinderella, but a princess cherished I'll have anything and everything I want even though they're just my guardians they will give me everything and anything I want not because I want it but because I said I deserve it and even though they were my guardians, they were gonna tell me that they love me every day.

And I felt warm by them. They didn't wanna tear up my clothes or tear up my hair or any of those things.

They said I'll get to be like a kid meaning they're gonna get me all the toys even though I am 16 they're gonna give me the childhood I never had even though they're just my guardians not just to the clothing stores. I'll be going when I go on the shopping spree but toy stores too.

Even my disability money was signed over to them by my parents who were my other parents since they weren't my biological parents. It was easy so my money was transferred to this new couple as well. I had my own money. I also worked on campus so I made my own money too on campus as well. Well, then they said we'll get you a debit card and you can use it to buy things you want and need.

OK, I'm glad you wanna give me a childhood. I said they nodded. You deserve to have one they said as I left for class thinking about all those things they said to me earlier, and I told my friends all about this couple afterward we left and they took me back to their home. I wanted they wanted me to get used to my new home. But before we did that we went back to the dorm and packed everything except for some music a few CDs and the CD player I had there you'll get another one. They said you'll have two CD players and two radios. They said you'll have one here and one at home. I want one here at home and one at school they said.

The clothes that I had at school were not all of them, but a lot of them were brought in and put into the closet. I'll get you new clothes too. These are cute, but we're gonna get you even better more expensive clothing. I was shocked they were gonna get me even more expensive than this. These were just normal clothes normal better looking clothes like from Walmart or something. They were fine with that, though look at cute clothes from there too they said if that's what you like, and some department store stores that I liked we'll take a note of that they said. And we'll get you a cell phone. They said a cell phone. I've been wanting one for so long. You still make your tracks if you're staying on campus but a cell phone so that you can call us when you're on your trips and things they said.

OK, I said if you need anything, let us know and you'll get to meet your new kind of sister tomorrow. I smiled knowing that I'll get to meet this Elenia.

That sounds good to me. I thought my time was award begins my time with my new guardians began.

A new family just for me.

With people who love me and they'll give me everything a childhood even though I never had one so this will be good for me.

Next will probably be a shopping spree and I can't wait for that. I can't wait to go shopping with my new female guardian. This will be so much fun.

And my new kind of sister will come too.

The mall will be amazing. I've never been to the mall, but they said I can go anywhere so we'll go to a lot of stores cause I need to buy a lot of things anyway and if I can't buy them all or they're too expensive, my new female guardian woman lady said that she'll help pay for some of it and my sister too. And I had gifts to open gifts for Miss's birthdays. I don't understand what they mean by that.

Like, who are they?

Could they be my birth family?

People say I look like her Reina James I mean and that name sounds familiar.

Well, I guess I'll have to see if they can't investigate and find them then. Maybe they are the ones I've been searching for all my life.

But I'm not sure well maybe I'll find out soon enough.

Just maybe one day I could just think I found my family, but I'm not sure.

Well, time will tell I guess.

A supper with them, and then I went to bed in my new bed. There's a lot more comfortable in the bed at my old house and more comfortable than the bed. I sleep in at school even.

I still have to have a bedtime because I still have to go to school tomorrow, but that was OK.

I was fine now all I had to do was just focus on my life in career. Everything will turn out just fine.

I closed my eyes and went to dreamland sleeping for the first time in my new bed.

Tomorrow is Friday and I don't have any choir trips or anything so I can come home and get ready to go on my shopping spree probably I'll go on Saturday not Friday maybe I can tell my friends all about it.

I hope they enjoy my adventures when I talk to him about it and tell him about how good it was to sleep in a very comfy bed.

For the first time in a while, I was happy.

And for that and for now, that's what made me happy.
