Chapter 123: Make your Bets
Chomei and Charlie sat at a small table.
Behind Charlie was Alastor and Vaggie.
Alastor was calm, well, appeared to be calm, his eyes slightly narrowed. But, aside from that, he carried himself with benevolent composure.
Vaggie, as you'd expect, had her spear in hand, ready to pounce on their 'guest' if he did anything suspicious.
Razzle and Dazzle flew in, trays in hand.
"Thank you, I'll take over from here." Chomei thanked the identical demons as they put the trays down.
One had small tea snacks.
The other had a tea pot, two cups, sugar and so on and so forth.
Charlie was nervous as she watched as Chomei prepared his own cup of tea (Three cubes of sugar and a dollop of cream) as Razzle and Dazzle prepared hers.
Chomei, on the other hand, was completely calm.
He was in enemy territory, but he had nothing to worry about.
Chomei blew on the cup, and took a sip.
"Delicious. What tea is this?" Chomei asked, his deep voice sort of betraying the hint of enthusiasm he was showing.
"Devil's Lettuce." Charlie answered as she took her own cup.
"Oh, that's ironic." Chomei chuckled. "I have experience with that from my younger days."
"Why are you here?" Vaggie interrupted.
She didn't like the idea of this random demon just showing up, stating that he has business with Charlie, and then act like he lived with them.
"Ah, yes, forgive me." Chomei apologized. "I am here to answer your broadcast."
Charlie's eyes widened.
"You know where Shino and Gaara are?" She asked urgently, trying not to let her emotions control her, but being a person who had their emotions were on their sleeves, she let it slip.
"Gaara is currently with my brother. Shino," Chomei took another sip of tea, humming slightly as it washed over his tongue, warming his body up in a nice way. "Is my apprentice."
Charlie nearly lunged forward when she grabbed Chomei's hands, almost spilling his tea.
"PLEASE, LET US SEE HIM! WE HAVE FRIENDS WHO NEED TO SEE HIM!"
Chomei didn't react in shock, but simply moved Charlie's hands off of his own hands.
"I understand, that explains the broadcast." He mumbled. "However, I'll need you to tell his friends that he is not able to come here for some time."
"What does that mean?" Vaggie demanded, her grip on her spear tightening.
"He is in the middle of extensive training under me right now." Chomei explained, not flinching when Vaggie's spear appeared at his throat. "If he ends it now…"
Vaggie was swiftly lifted into the air, before being slammed into the ceiling as hundreds of insects covered her body.
"WHAT THE FUCK!" Vaggie screamed, Alastor laughed at her ire.
"Sorry, they attack when the Nest is threatened." Chomei said as he gestured for his insects to return.
As Vaggie hit the ground, Charlie and Alastor (who was now showing surprise in his eyes) watched as the insects entered Chomei's body.
Charlie got to the ground to help Vaggie stand.
"W..what…" Vaggie asked weakly, feeling severely weakened from the attack.
"This is what Shino is learning under me." Chomei said as the last of the insects returned to their 'Nest'. "Do you understand why he can't come back now?"
"Yes, we do." Charlie said as she put Vaggie in the chair, now standing. "But…"
Charlie's mind rushed through what to do or say or ask Chomei.
She wanted to help Fuu.
Keeping Shino away is not what Naruto promised.
"Can we exchange numbers?" Charlie asked Chomei, who was still sipping his tea. "So… so if there are breaks in his training… He can at least call his friends?"
"I don't see why not." Chomei said as he pulled out his phone. "Here, mine and Shino's numbers."
As Charlie and Chomei exchanged information, Alastor stared at the insect demon.
He analyzed the demon carefully.
'His power is similar to a sinner, yet the swiftness of the attack, and how efficiently he controls those bugs.' Alastor glanced at Vaggie, seeing her weakened condition. 'What kind of affects could he use with them?'
Alastor's eyes narrowed as Chomei stood up, saying he was taking his leave.
'He could be an enemy in the future. Precautions must be made.' He thought darkly.
"Sorry about your worker." Chomei apologized as he and Charlie neared the front door. "In my experiences, danger is not a joke, so my friends…" A few insects crawled into Chomei's palm. "Protected me, their Nest. She should be fine in a few hours."
Charlie sighed in relief.
"I do apologize for her over reaction." Charlie apologized. "Like your friends, she is protective of me."
Chomei's mouth pincers clicked a few times, sounding… 'happy'.
"It's nice isn't it."
"What is?"
"Love."
Charlie smiled and nodded.
"Yep… you have anyone special?" Charlie asked as she opened the door.
"I have my family, but I have been more Goal Oriented over romantic relationships." Chomei explained as the Princess goodbye.
Insectoid wings appeared from his back and he took flight, heading home.
'He was… a person.' Charlie thought as she shut and locked the door.
Taking a deep breath, Charlie pulled her phone and sent Naruto a text.
Meanwhile, DFS…
Fuu was in the gym.
'Wow…' She thought as she lifted over one hundred LBS with minimal effort. 'I wasn't able to do that before…'
She did a few more lifts before putting it down.
Fuu let out a sigh of relief, due to not being a weight lifting kind of person, only doing this to test her new strength.
'It must be because of that deal Naruto and I made.' Fuu thought as she wiped sweat off of her forehead.
She turned her head when she heard someone running toward the door, which burst open.
"FUU!" Naruto bellowed as he ran in… right into the weight set.
"OH FUCK!" Fuu screamed, flinching, covering herself as the weights and set up collapsed onto the hound.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!" Verosika screamed from downstairs.
"WHO DID WHAT!" Blitz yelled… followed by Andromeda screaming. "GREAT, NOW YOU WOKE ANDY UP!"
"… uh…" Naruto sounded as he was under several pounds of metal.
Fuu focused, her back pincers extending from her shoulders, using them and her hands to move everything off of Naruto.
"You… uh… you okay?" Fuu asked in concern as Naruto's body was bruised and swollen.
Her answer was his phone being held in front of her face.
It was on the Message app.
Naruto, someone came by and said they were training Shino. He can't come back quite yet, but they gave me Shino's number. ~C
Fuu gasped, re-reading the message and the link to Shino's phone number.
"You… your stupid idea worked…" Fuu said, her eyes starting to water as she felt happiness beginning to swell.
Naruto smirked, giving her a thumbs up.
"Naruto, thank you…" Fuu said as she lifted Naruto up. "How can I repay you…"
"Well, I have an idea…" Naruto mumbled.
Two Days Later…
Husker grumbled.
"I can't believe you had to invite your friend to this…" Husker grumbled.
"I'm sorry." Fuu apologized.
She and Naruto were following Husker.
Naruto was not apologetic as he carried two briefcases.
Flashback…
Earlier that day, Naruto was doing laundry when his phone went off.
"Hello?"
"Sup, it's Husker."
"What's up?"
"Tonight, I'm going to a card game with some… associates of mine." Husker said over the phone, clearly drunk. "I'll stop by your place…*BURP* and make sure you have at least five hundred dollars in small bills."
"… okay… can I bring another game… and a friend?"
Flashback End…
"Well…" Husker said as they entered an apartment building. "To late now… just, don't embarrass me."
"Okay." The hound and sinner said in unison as they continued to follow Husker.
One elevator ride and one hallway walk later, Husker knocked on one of the doors.
Voices and sounds were behind the door, the sound of someone approaching before the door opened.
"Husker~" the person said as she hugged him. "How's my favorite pussy doing?"
"Ugh…" Husker groaned as he broke the hug.
The Sinner demon was a female.
"Oh, and you brought some fresh meat…" She said, licking her lips.
She was a Succubus Sinner demon, with three giant holes at the base of her neck, from either a blade or a gun.
She had chin-length angular purple hair and green eyes. Her frame was tall, being able to look Naruto in the eyes.
She was wearing yellow shorts, a matching buttoned shirt, white ankle boots, tan stockings, and a loose red jacket.
"Hello~" She said as she extended a hand. "My name is Faye Valentine."
"Naruto."
"Fuu."
Faye chuckled as she ushered them in.
"Welcome to my Casa." Faye said as she showed off her apartment.
It was a dirty apartment space, one small bathroom, a small kitchenette, and the rest was a bedroom/living room area, which included a bed, a tv, a few collapsible chairs, and a table, which currently had two men sitting at it.
They were clearly Sinners.
One was more human, with demonic red skin and horns.
He had a chunk of his neck and left shoulder missing, clear bite mark grooves in his flesh.
He was tall and thin with a long and narrow head. Though his eyebrows were of the same color as is thin, wide and split mustache, his slicked hair was silvery white. He also had a striking green pupil.
He dressed in a formal attire which included a white striped shirt under a toned blue tie covered under a dark brown vest with a Congo brown suit jacket and matching trousers and shoes, along with a pair of white gloves. Perhaps his most notable accessory was his wide-brimmed fedora of the same color with white band.
The second man was interesting to Naruto and Fuu.
He was a man of average human height and slim to middling build. He had burnt orange skin.
However, from his elbows to his hands were mechanized.
They looked like they were auto deck shufflers on his palms.
He had horns and dark hair of middling volume, flowing slightly back and apart from his face, and a trim mustache of medium length. A light surface trails from the bottom of his eyes to points aside his mouth; scored by thin, black, horizontal lines.
He wears a light shirt, dark tie, and a vest of a medium color, printed with spirals.
"D'Arby, Alahambra." Husker greeted as he sat at the table.
"Husker." Both men greeted, shaking his hands as Faye opened the fridge, grabbing several beers.
"Oh, right, let me introduce…"
"I am Daniel J. D'Arby." The sinner with the mechanical hands greeted, smiling suavely.
"I am Tubalcain Alahambra." The suit wearing sinner greeted, tipping his hat to the newbies. "But you can call me the Dandy Man."
"Naruto."
"Fuu."
They sat down, the sinners and Lycan finishing up the greetings, breaking open the beer.
"You got the money?" Faye asked as she eye-fucked the brief cases.
"Yes…" Naruto said as he grabbed one, opening it.
Within the silver case indeed was a LOT of money.
"Alright, divide it up and we can start playing." The Dandy Man said, smiling as he smoked his cigarette.
Naruto divided the money as D'Arby grabbed two decks of cards, inserting them into the palms of his hands, the auto card shufflers shuffling the decks before merging them together.
"So, you two know how to play Poker?" D'Arby asked Naruto and Fuu as he dealt the cards.
"I've played with my boyfriend and his dad." Fuu explained as she took her cards, adjusting them to her preferred way.
"I've watched videos on Youtube, but never played." Naruto replied as he grabbed his cards.
Husker, D'Arby, Faye, and the Dandy Man smirked.
'Easy money…' they collectively thought as Husker started the betting with one dollar before making the first move of the game.
Skip…
"HOW CAN YOU BOTH BE WINNING WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!" The Dandy Man screamed, standing up while slamming his hands onto the table, nearly breaking the cheap appliance.
In the several hours, Faye, the Dandy Man, Husker, and D'Arby had used their excellent gambling skills to cheat.
Yet…
Yet every round Fuu and Naruto were one of two winners more than anyone else.
'They aren't cheating.' Faye thought as she guzzled her beer.
'I have enough experience and tactics to spot them in other cheaters.' D'Arby thought as he glanced at Husker, Faye, and the Dandy Man. 'We know each other's techniques, so the game is enhanced by trying to be as subtle as possible without being caught.'
'But these two clearly haven't been cheating!' the Dandy Man thought in irritation. 'It can't be Luck. That's bullshit!'
Husker glared at Naruto.
'This can't be luck… no one but Lucifer is that Lucky…' Husker thought… but then in his drunken stupor, he remembers running into a blonde hellhound beating him at a Casino. 'WAIT, THAT WAS NARUTO!'
"So… you guys wanna switch games?" Naruto asked as he could feel from their intensity that his fellow players were getting pissed. "One last game, winner takes all?"
"Yes." The four adults said in creepy unison.
"Alright…" Naruto said as he grabbed his second brief case, putting it on the table. "However, it is gonna have to be One Vs One."
The Sinners, including Fuu (who was pocketing her money), leaned in.
Inside were Naruto's Kaiba standard duel disk and the Chaos Duel Disk.
What Naruto grabbed was a cloth duel mat, which he spread out, covering the entire table.
Naruto touched it, channeling his magic inside of it.
"What…" Husker's eyes widened as cards made of magic appeared before his face, neatly shuffled to his right.
"Yugioh." Naruto explained as he typed on a 'magic' screen, altering one deck. "It's a Children's Card Game from the Human World. It has some rules, but we are playing the simplest version. So, who is gonna play against me?"
"I don't know…"
"I have a variety of decks provided." Naruto said, gesturing to the cards opposite of him and his own deck, which he drew five cards, putting them down to not peak quite yet.
Husker, Faye, Dandy Man, and D'Arby huddled together.
"You really betting all that money on this?" Fuu asked as she sat next to Naruto.
"Losing it wouldn't be a big deal." Naruto replied as he waited patiently as the group continued to whisper amongst each other.
"Alright," Husker said as he broke from the group. "I'll play, make sure my deck is a gambling type… is that possible?"
Naruto nodded, bringing up the screen, typing something in, making a few adjustments and hit enter.
The deck that was on Husker's side glitched a few seconds before shuffling itself.
"There we go. I call that deck," Naruto said as Husker sat down. "My Las Vegas Deck, it has gamble cards. I am using my Ultimate Ritual deck. Also, I added an assist for you so you can play better."
Husker nodded.
"Draw five cards and we can begin." Naruto said, picking up his cards.
Husker drew.
"You can go first." Naruto offered.
Husker nodded as he drew a sixth card.
He looked at his hand, the assist explaining a strategy to him, which Naruto clearly couldn't hear due to it being an assist tool for beginner players.
Husker: 8000
Naruto: 8000
"I'll set these two cards face down…" Husker said as he put two cards in his back Zone. "Then…" His eyes squinted, reading the assist. "Summon this monster… face down in defense position."
His monster was summoned in defense.
"I will end my turn." Husker finished.
"I draw."
"I activate my trap." Husker said, flipping up one card. "My Needle Wall trap."
Naruto nodded and looked at his hand as he added the newest card.
"I also place two cards face down." Naruto said before grabbing a third. "I'll summon my monster in face up attack. Rise, Enraged Battle Ox."
Naruto summoned his monster.
The Dandy Man, D'Arby, Faye, and Husker were surprised when the magic within the duel mat made a small illusion of the monster on the card, which moved and roared upon it being summoned.
"I enter my attack phase, Battle Ox, attack his defense monster." Naruto ordered.
Enraged Battle Ox charged forward, raising its axe and slashing the monster.
It flipped up, revealing the monster to be Roulette Barrel.
Roulette Barrel: Def: 2000.
Enraged Battle Ox: Atk: 1700.
The axe of the ox scrapped against the machine, causing Naruto to lose life points.
Naruto: 8000 – 7700.
"Nice defense." Naruto said as he ended his turn.
Husker smiled as he drew his next card.
"My Needle Wall Trap activates." Husker said as a glow appeared around his trap. "I roll a die, and whatever number I roll, I destroy the monster on board placement. It it's a six, I roll again."
A die made of magic appeared, Husker grabbed it, rolled it in his palm, and then rolled.
"As you do that, I activate my face down Solemn Wishes." Naruto said, flipping up his own permanent trap.
Husker's die rolled a three.
"I destroy the Battle Ox." Husker stated, the ox roaring before shattering like glass, Naruto moving the card to the graveyard. "Next, I switch my monster into attack, and attack you directly."
Roulette Barrel: Atk: 1000.
Naruto took the attack.
Naruto: 7700 – 6700.
"I end my turn." Husker said, earning cheers from Faye, Dandy Man, and D'Arby.
"Good job, Husk."
"Get our money back!"
"I can't wait to go shopping~"
"Don't get too cocky, Husk." Naruto reminded him, smiling as he looked at his card. "My Solemn Wishes gives me 500 points back when I draw a card."
Naruto: 6700 – 7200.
"Now, I summon Sonic Bird." Naruto summoned his monster, the eagle wearing goggles and a jet pack. "I activate its ability to search and place one ritual summoning card to my hand."
Naruto grabbed the deck, searched it, and pulled one card out before adding it to his hand.
"I'll activate it right now." Naruto said as he put the card on the field.
It was a card called End of the World.
"I sacrifice my Sonic Bird and one level four monster from my hand…" Naruto put said monsters in his graveyard before summoning his ritual monster. "To special summon Demise, the King of Armageddon."
Said monster rose slowly from bellowing smoke, like a dimensional hole emitted the smoke as the King rose through it.
"When its summoned, I activate Demise's ability." Naruto announced. "I pay 2000 life points, and destroy every card except Demise on the board."
Husker's eyes widened as his defenses were destroyed along side Naruto's back row.
"Now, Demise, attack Husker directly!" Naruto ordered as his life points went down.
Naruto: 7200 – 5200.
With a flourish of his axe, Demise sliced 2400 points of damage from Husker's life points.
Husker: 8000 – 5600.
"I end my turn." Naruto said as Fuu cheered him on from being able to take control of the game.
Husker tsk'd as he drew his next card.
"I activate Graceful Charity, drawing three cards, discarding two." Husker said, doing as the card allowed, discarding Ojama Black and Slot Machine. "Next, I place two cards face down, and activate Premature Burial."
Naruto nodded as the Slot Machine Monster appeared in face up attack position.
"This card allows me to bring one monster back at the cost of 800 points."
Slot Machine: Atk: 2000.
Husker: 5600 – 4800.
"I summon a monster in face down defense mode and end my turn." Husker replied, beginning to sweat as Naruto calmly drew another card.
"I give up 2000 more life points to activate Demise's ability…"
"WHAT, I THOUGHT YOU SAID THAT WAS ONLY ALLOWED WHEN IT WAS SUMMONED!" Husker yelled.
"No, it's a once per turn ability." Naruto said as his life points went down while Demise destroyed all of Husker's defense.
Naruto: 5200 – 3200.
"Next, I summon Z-Metal Tank in attack mode." Naruto explained, summoning a yellow tank. "Now, I attack you directly."
Demise and Z-Metal Tank attacked Husker directly.
Husker: 4800 – 900.
"Husker…" Dandy Man growled.
"If you fail…" D'Arby continued, equally pissed.
"We lose a lot of money." Faye finished.
Husker felt immense pressure.
'How am I supposed to defeat that monster?' He thought, looking Demise, the King of Armageddon. 'It has a powerful ability and attack power.'
"I end my turn." Naruto said, allowing Husker to draw.
Chapter 123, DONE!
I wonder if Husker will draw the card he needs to win.
In chapter 15, where Moxxie and Naruto played a game, I used Yugioh: Legacy of the Duelist. This time, since I wanted Husker to use a gambler deck, I used my copy of Yugioh World Championship 2007. I played Snipe Hunter with my Ultimate Ritual deck.
Sadly, like with chapter 15, I was able to overpower the AI pretty easily.
I know.
Anyway, Chomei's meeting with Charlie was a lot of fun to write.
Faye Valentine is from Cowboy Bebop.
Daniel J. D'Arby is from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusader's.
Tubalcain Alahambra/The Dandy Man is from Hellsing Ultimate.
I was going to write the Poker game… but I don't know how to write/make Poker seem interesting, I am not Araki or the guy who wrote Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor. Or whoever made Squid Games.
So, I did what I do best, and played Yugioh.
