The young couple stood there outside of the Kids Shelter for a while until eventually Elsa went to knock on the door, hoping there was someone in there that could help them out.

Brooklyn's ears flattened from what she was doing. "W-Wait, we don't even know if whoever owns this place will even like gargoyles like me." He said, making Elsa take his hand.

"I will ensure they do honey. And hopefully offer us some winter gear as well." Brooklyn swallowed but soon agreed, as the door soon opened.

It revealed a rather crabby looking old man in his mid 60s, looking about before soon spotting the two of them, raising his brow then glaring hard at Brooklyn. "Look, I don't want to understand how the likes of ye showed up at my orphanage, but you best beat it!" He growled, pointing.

Elsa stood firm while Brooklyn wrapped his wings around himself in his nerves. "We don't want to bring harm to anybody. And I've known my husband for several years. He'll never hurt a child. We just got a little lost and trying to figure out where the one responsible for this winter is."

The old man folded his arms, still looking suspicious before soon nodding reluctantly. "Fine. But I have strict rules in this place and the kids always have to work hard in order to be able to stay." He said, Brooklyn and Elsa following him inside.

Inside there the building was rather dreary to Brooklyn's taste, wondering how the kids could even survive here. The old man soon left them to explore after warning Elsa and Brooklyn to not disturb the children.

The two of them came across soon what looked like a workshop in the orphanage where the kids worked on what appeared to be mittens. Elsa frowned lightly, hating that someone like that orphanage owner put children this young through something like this.

At one point Brooklyn felt someone bump into him. He looked down at the sight of a young girl with short blonde hair. "Oh, sorry, uh... whoever you are." The girl apologized while Brooklyn grins lightly. "No problem. What's your name? I'm Brooklyn and this is Elsa."

The girl tilted her head from that, before replying. "I'm called Gerda. Been here since I was a baby." She said, looking rather saddened about that, Brooklyn's heart panging for her. "L-Look, I gotta get back to work or the master will be mad at me." Gerda said quickly, running over to her work station.

Elsa glanced at her husband. "I just want to take these kids away from this place now. They don't need all this cruelty." She said gently, reminding her of how isolated her childhood had been.

Brooklyn nods in agreement while seeing the Master speaking to the kids. "Obedience and hard work are expected at all times. There is no mummies or daddies holding your hand around here. This is an orphanage. And you're expected to be so sufficient and follow simple rules. You'll never speak unless spoken to. And there is absolutely no laughter allowed."

The Master suddenly eyed Gerda trying to sneak her way to the desk, glaring. Brooklyn tried going over but Elsa took his hand. "This is the third time you're late this week, young lady." He growled.

Gerda tensed up, sitting down. "I'm sorry, sir. It won't happen again, I promise."

While the Master kept up with his lecturing, Brooklyn couldn't help but look upward at the sight of what appeared to be a white weasel, female. He tensed when hearing the master say no pets allowed and it seemed to be that Gerda knew the weasel from how she was gesturing at it to leave.

The weasel didn't quite listen as she started to jump along the pipes until a small blast of steam hit her, causing her to squeak, falling down. Brooklyn quietly went over, using his air magic to stop the weasel from hitting the floor, ensuring that the master wouldn't notice, levitating her into a nearby basket.

Gerda had seen that in surprise, not knowing a gargoyle could wield such a thing like air, but gave him a grateful look until another boy picked up the basket, making her stand up, trying to get his attention.

"Uh, Mr. House Master? May I be excused sir? Just for a minute!" She pleaded, signaling to Brooklyn and Elsa to go to the door where the boy went.

Brook nods, him and Elsa heading over there while the Master set an hour glass. "One... minute." He growled.

The trio soon snuck their way to where the other kid was bringing the basket, Gerda looking up at Brooklyn in awe, which made Brooklyn flush in embarrassment. "H-How did you do that? With my weasel? Was that... air magic you were controlling?"

Brooklyn cleared his throat awkwardly while Elsa gave him an encouraging smile. "Long story, but... I kinda got it back where we came from in Arendelle."

Gerda blinked from that, knowing she would eventually ask more questions later before soon nods, knocking on the door.

Another boy opened it with short brown hair, a startled expression on him while Gerda attempted to take the basket with her weasel. "Hi, sorry. Don't mean to bother you. But I think my weasel might be in your basket." She said in a rather fast way while digging through it, making Elsa chuckle, Gerda reminding her of Anna.

The boy also smiles. "Is it a white, cute thing with really nice fluffy fur?"

Brooklyn nodded while the boy also had a look of surprise at the sight of him. "Yeah, that's the one." He said.

Gerda grins at Brooklyn. "Luta. But she loves to wander around. She's crazy about chimneys. She's always getting into trouble. Little brat."

Brooklyn eventually spots Luta behind Gerda. "Well, then look behind you." He said with a small smirk.

The girl smiled when seeing her weasel, who jumped into her arms. "Oh, Luta! You're such a pest! Thank you. I'm Gerda. These are my new friends Brooklyn and Elsa. But don't think I've seen you before."

Elsa gives a light bow signaling her royalty. "We've traveled far to track down someone who has my ice powers like I do." She said, causing some of her ice magic to happen, making Gerda gasp aloud from it.

The boy blinked before soon saying his name. "Well, I-I hope we can help in any way we can. Name is Kai."

Brooklyn holds out his hand, Kai somewhat nervous but eventually shook the gargoyle's. "It's nice to meet you, Kai. You can probably tell we're not of this world but I promise we don't want to hurt anybody. But what about you? Do you have parents?"

Kai held his arms, flushing a little. "Not really. T-they died when I was a baby."

The red beaked male's heart clenched. Both these kids lost their parents at such a young age. It made him really want to take them away from this horrible orphanage like Elsa too.

...

Meanwhile in a closet, a ferret (Really a troll) named Orm who had been working for the other Snow Queen was passed out from traveling in cold for ages, his North Star vial glowing brightly, signaling the child of Master Vegard being nearby. He groaned. "Piece of cake... huh?" Orm grunted, spotting his vial glowing.

His eyes trailed over to seeing two kids, a weasel, a strange demon thing with white hair, and... his mistress?

Orm jumped to his feet, panting but soon realized from the look of gentleness in this one's eyes that it wasn't his mistress. His mind soon remembered his task. "I found him. It took me 13 years, but I did it!" He jumped down from the warm coals he had been lying down on, studying the creature he realized was a gargoyle even closer.

From what Orm could see, especially from them holding hands, the gargoyle was definitely in a relationship with this new snow girl. A little grin appeared on his face. Maybe, along with kidnapping Vegard's child, he could bring this gargoyle to his mistress too.
