Daughter of the Deadman III
Hey, all. I am finally back. Geez. This one is kinda short. Originally, this was all going to be one huge chapter, but it was getting up there, so I decided to split it. Hope you all like it. Determined as heck to get back into this. I don't care what I have to do.
Thanks to: nattiebroskette, Wolfgirl2013, and tomwilliams1990 for their reviews. And really anybody who has left me reviews on all three of these stories. You are all awesome and great. Thanks so much!
Alright, I will see you all at the bottom!
Chapter 44: Pressure Mounting
It was a few hours later, about half an hour before the show. Angel was sitting in the trainer's room getting her back wrapped up. It was still just as painful as it had been on the night when it had been injured and she didn't know what else to do to fix it or more importantly, how it had been injured in the first place.
"Angel? There you go. You're all done. Just be careful out there alright?"
Angel nodded. She put her shirt back on and left. She headed back to the locker room. When she walked in, everyone looked up as though expecting something.
"What? I'm fine. Just getting taped up" Angel said.
"Alright. Dean and Hunter are kicking off the show and you two are in the semi main event" Taker said.
"Great. No pressure" Kristy said.
"We'll do fine. Don't worry" Angel said.
"Yeah. You and Angel are awesome!" Lea said.
"I just wish I could figure out how I got injured in the first place. I mean…if it was by accident, then fine. But if it was deliberate, then that's another story" Angel said.
"You think she would hurt you purposely?" Kristy said.
"Who knows? She's a Flair" Angel said.
"And she just might if she feels like Angel is threatening her place at the top of the card. It's not unheard of" Taker said.
"Are you talking from experience, Uncle Taker?" Kristy said.
"Well…sort of. Hulk Hogan accused me of hurting him way back in ninety-one when I won my first title. I can only assume it was because he felt as though I was threatening his place at the top. And we all know how he was with that" Taker said, rolling his eyes slightly.
"Wow. Okay, so it's not unheard of" Kristy said.
"If there was a way to find out, I'd do it in a heartbeat," Angel said.
"Maybe there is. What if you talk to Steph and ask her to review the footage? Maybe she can find something" Taker said.
"Do you think she'd do that?" Kristy asked.
"She's reasonable. I'm sure she would if the situation was explained to her" Taker said.
"Can we just get through tonight first?" Kristy asked.
"Sure. Are you okay? I get the sense that you want to throw up" Angel said.
"I don't know what's up with me. I haven't been this nervous in a long time. Wrestling has…always been really easy for me" Kristy said.
"It's probably because I'm hurt. You've never had to work with someone hurt before" Angel said.
"I think it's the pressure of it. Angel, I have to ask: why me?" Kristy asked.
"Because you're a good Women's Wrestler and I'd rather not have to get into the ring with Charlotte again. And I definitely don't want to do it if I'm hurt. At least I know you'll keep me safe" Angel said.
"She's right, Mom. You're a great wrestler. And you're not gonna go out of your way to hurt her" Wyatt said, grinning at his Mom.
"I'm with Angel and Wyatt. You're a good wrestler and Angel doesn't have to worry about being hurt" Lea said.
"Well…you're not wrong" Kristy said, grinning and blushing slightly.
Everyone laughed, knowing that even though Kristy was embarrassed, she knew that they were right. She was one of the safest wrestlers in the Women's Division. They also knew that if she made Angel's injury any worse, then she would feel awful.
"You're not going to make it any worse. Don't worry" Angel said as though reading her mind.
"Was I making it that obvious?" Kristy said.
"Look, I know you're worried. I'm worried too. Any normal person would be, but it will be fine. Honestly, if I had to pick who to wrestle tonight, it would be you. If it was anyone else, I would have forfeited and relinquished the belt" Angel said.
"Why is that?" Bayley asked.
"Because every woman on the roster has had their big moment so far, either on the main roster or NXT. Kristy has been here the same amount of time as me and she's never really had a big career moment. Her last two runs with the belt were super short, so it's about time she's had a good run" Angel said.
"I just hope you're right and everything works out OK and we can all get through this" Kristy said.
"You need to relax a bit, girl. Everything will be OK. And just remember that you didn't injure me. It was Charlotte's fault, intentional or not. Being unsafe in the ring is how injuries happen" Angel said.
"She's right, Kris. You're worrying way too much. Even for you" Dean said.
"You guys are right. I am worried. I just…I don't want to make Ang's injury worse. And I never thought I would be trying to take the belt off my best friend. It's just…" Kristy tried to explain.
"It's a lot to take in, I know. But we all believe in you. Even if the guys at the top are skeptical" Dean said.
"He's right, you know," Roman said.
"As for making my injury worse, that won't happen. If it was anyone other than you, I would not be stepping in that ring tonight. I would have walked out on Raw and given this up" Angel said, holding up the title.
Kristy nodded. She felt better. She also realized that they were right. She needed to relax and stop putting so much pressure on herself.
Sorry that this was a short one, but like I said, it was getting up there in terms of number of pages. Hope you all like it anyway. Please leave a review and stay tuned for updates! I'm going to get back into this I swear. Alright, see you all later.~Taker's Soul Girl
