Mina's Trial (Part Two)
After Jimmy and Mina return from the Pokemon Center after getting their Pokemon treated, Ed and Mina are facing each other.
"Are you ready for our battle, island challenger?" asked Mina, pulling out a pokeball.
"You bet your sweet bippy I am." said Ed as he pulls out a pokeball.
"All right then; Mawile, go!" said Mina, throwing Mawile's pokeball and releasing it.
"Come out, Flareon!" said Ed, throwing Flareon's pokeball and releasing her.
"Go get her, big guy." said Eddy. Mawile's ponytail jaws bared its teeth at Flareon and her attack strength weakens.
"Flareon, use Tail Whip!" said Ed. Flareon leaps at Mawile and wags her tail into it, weakening Mawile's defense.
"Excellent move, Ed." said Edd.
"Mawile, use Crunch!" said Mina. Mawile jumps at Flareon and bites her with its ponytail jaws, damaging Flareon, and weakening her defense.
"Flareon, Fire Fang!" said Ed. Flareon leaps at Mawile while fire covered her fangs and she bites Mawile, dealing super effective damage; Mawile's body becomes covered in fire.
"Mawile's burned." said Edd.
"Mawile, use Bite!" said Mina. Mawile leaps at Flareon and bites her with its ponytail jaws, dealing damage, and making her flinch. "Now use Sucker Punch!" Mawile leaps at Flareon and punches her, damaging her.
"Use Lava Plume!" said Ed. Flareon creates an explosion of fire and smog from her body and it hits Mawile, dealing super effective damage and knocking her out.
"That was great!" said Maxiley.
"Way to go, big brother!" said Sarah. Mina returns Mawile to its pokeball.
"You did well, Mawile." said Mina. She puts Mawile's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Granbull!" She tosses Granbull's pokeball and releases it; Grandbull growls at Flareon, making her nervous and her attack strength even weaker.
"Flareon, use Smog!" said Ed. Flareon releases a thick gray smoke from her mouth and it hits Granbull, dealing super effective damage; it turned purple under Granbull's eyes.
"Granbull's poisoned." said Edd.
"Granbull, use Thunder Fang!" said Mina. Granbull leaps at Flareon while electricity covered its mouth and it bites Flareon, dealing damage; Flareon begins to twitch.
"Now Flareon's paralyzed." said Edd. Granbull coughs from its poisoning and loses stamina.
"Flareon, try using Fire Fang!" said Ed. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Flareon from attacking.
"Now use Headbutt!" said Mina. Granbull runs at Flareon and rams its head against her, knocking her to the ground, unconscious. "Excellent work, Granbull." Granbull coughs from its poisoning and loses more stamina.
"You can do it, Ed!" said Eddy. Ed returns Flareon to her pokeball.
"You were great, Flareon." said Ed. He puts Flareon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Come out, Muk!" He throws Muk's pokeball and releases him.
"Granbull, use Ice Fang!" said Mina. Granbull charges at Muk while ice surrounded its fangs.
"Use Minimize!" said Ed. Muk shrinks to a smaller size, making Granbull miss. "Now use Screech!" Muk returns to his regular size and lets out a loud yell, making soundwaves that hits Granbull, weakening its defense.
"Use Thunder Fang!" said Mina. Granbull leaps at Muk while electricity covered its fangs.
"Acid Armor!" said Ed. Muk becomes surrounded by a purple energy and his body flattens; his defense greatly increases. Granbull bites Muk, but not doing much damage due to his defense being increased. Granbull coughs and loses more stamina. "Now use Gunk Shot!" Muk fires multiple globs of sludge out of his mouth and they hit Granbull, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Yay, Ed!" said Jimmy.
"Keep it up, Ed!" said Eddy. Mina returns Granbull to its pokeball.
"You were incredible, Granbull." said Mina. She puts Granbull's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing well so far, Ed; but you still have to beat my last Pokemon. Ribombee, go!" She tosses Ribombee's pokeball and releases it.
"Ribombee, Dazzling Gleam!" said Mina. Ribombee creates a rainbow-colored force field around itself; it expands until it hits Muk, dealing damage to him.
"Muk, use Poison Fang!" said Ed. Muk jumps at Ribombee while his mouth glowed purple and he bites Ribombee, dealing super effective damage.
"Ribombee, use Draining Kiss!" said Mina. Ribombee flies at Muk and kisses it, dealing damage to Muk and healing some of Ribombee's wounds.
"Muk, use Acid Spray!" said Ed. Muk spits a large purple glob at Ribombee, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; Ribombee begins to slump.
"Acid Spray has weakened Ribombee's special defense." said Edd.
"Ribomee, use Bug Buzz!" said Mina. Ribombee lets out a loud yell and releases soundwaves onto Muk, dealing damage to him, and weakening his defense.
"Use Gunk Shot!" said Ed. Muk fires multiple globs of sludge out of his mouth and they hit Ribombee, dealing super effective damage; Ribombee falls to the ground, unconscious. "You did it, Muk!"
"Ed won!" said Sarah.
"I knew he could do it." said Maxiley.
"Great work, Ed." said Eddy. Mina returns Ribombee to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Ribombee." said Mina. She puts Ribombee's pokeball and walks to Ed. "You've trained your Pokemon well, Ed."
"Thanks." replied Ed. Mina gives Ed the same kind of petal she gave the others. "Pretty." Mina then turned towards the others.
"Which of you will I be facing next?" asked Mina.
"I believe I shall." said Edd.
"Very well; as soon as I return, we will have our battle." said Mina. She walks out the door, as well as Ed and they head to the Pokemon Center.
While Edd waits for Mina to return, he goes over what he knows about Mina's Pokemon and came up with some strategies he can use in his trial. Ten minutes later, Mina returns and gets into the spot she stood during the last few battles.
"Are you ready?" asked Mina.
"I believe I am." said Edd.
"Then let us begin." said Mina as she takes a pokeball out of her pocket and tosses it, releasing her Mawile while Edd takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Magnezone; Mawile's Intimidate ability kicks in, weakening Magnezone's attack strengths.
"Magnezone, please use Spark!" said Edd. Magnezone flies at Mawile while its body is covered in electricity and rams it; Mawile suddenly starts to twitch.
"Mawile's paralyzed!" said Sarah.
"Mawile, use Crunch!" said Mina. Her Mawile runs at Magnezone and bites down on it with its ponytail jaws, dealing damage, and lowering Magnezone's defense.
"Magnezone, please use Electro Ball!" said Edd. Magnezone forms a ball of electricity with its magnets and launches it at Mawile, dealing plenty of damage, thanks to the increased difference in their speeds thanks to Mawile's paralysis, to knock it out.
"Nice one, Double-D!" said Eddy. Mina returns her Mawile to its pokeball.
"Rest up, Mawile." said Mina. She puts Mawile's pokeball back in her pocket and pulls out another one; she tosses it, releasing her Granbull. "Granbull, use Fire Fang!" Her Granbull runs at Magnezone while its large fangs are covered in fire and bites down on it, dealing super effective damage.
"Magnezone, please use Flash Cannon!" said Edd. His Magnezone fires a beam of silver energy at Granbull, dealing super effective damage; its body suddenly slumps a bit.
"What's wrong with Granbull?" asked Jimmy.
"Flash Cannon has a chance of weakening the special defenses of the Pokemon it hits." said Edd.
"Granbull, one more Fire Fang!" said Mina. Her Granbull gives Magnezone another fiery bite, dealing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"That stinks." said Eddy.
"Double-D can still win." said Maxiley. Edd returns his Magnezone to its pokeball.
"You were splendid, Magnezone." said Edd. He puts Magnezone's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off another one; he tosses it, releasing his Ariados. "Ariados, please use Poison Jab!" One of Ariados' front legs becomes coated in poison as she jabs Granbull with it, dealing super effective damage; it suddenly looks ill.
"Granbull's poisoned, Double-D!" said Maxiley.
"Granbull, use Fire Fang!" said Mina. Granbull moves towards Ariados while its fangs were coated with fire.
"Ariados, please counterattack with another Poison Jab!" said Edd. Mina's Granbull bites down on Ariados with fire-coated jaws while she jabs Granbull with another poison-coated leg; the two stand still before Granbull falls back and passes out.
"Ariados did it!" said Ed.
"Just one more to go." said Sarah. The Rotom Pokedex flies out of Edd's backpack and shows him a notification.
"It seems my Ariados just leared Cross Poison." said Edd.
"Sweet!" said Eddy. Mina returns her Granbull to its pokeball.
"You've earned a rest, Granbull." said Mina. She puts Granbull's pokeball back in her pocket and pulls off her last one; she tosses it, releasing her Ribombee.
"Ariados, please try out your new Cross Poison move!" said Edd. Purple blades of solidified poison comes out of Ariados' legs and she does a dual slash at Ribombee, hitting it, and dealing critcal, super effective, damage.
"Cool!" said Ed.
"Ribombee, use Psychic!" said Mina. Ribombee's body glowed blue as it uses psychic power to lift up Ariados and slam her to the floor, dealing super effective damage.
"Don't give up, Ariados!" said Jimmy.
"Ariados, use Poison Sting!" said Edd. Ariados uses the last of her strength to fire a barrage of poisoned needles at Ribombee, hitting it, and doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Double-D won!" said Ed.
"Never a doubt!" said Eddy.
"That was awesome!" said Maxiley. Mina returns her Ribombee to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Ribombee." said Mina. She puts her Ribombee's pokeball back on her waist and walks over to Edd. "You battled well, young man."
"Thank you very much." said Edd. Mina then hands Edd the same pink petal she gave the others. "What are these petals for?"
"I will tell you after I battle your friend." said Mina as she looks at Eddy.
"Looks like I'm next." said Eddy as he steps forward.
"We will have our battle after I get my Pokemon treated." said Mina. She then leaves to go to the Pokemon Center while Eddy plans what Pokemon he'll use in his battle.
Ten minutes later, Mina returns and she and Eddy prepare to begin their battle.
"Are you ready, young man?" asked Mina.
"I was ready since I first arrived here in Alola." said Eddy as he takes a pokeball off his waist.
"Then let's get started." said Mina. She takes a pokeball out and tosses it, releasing her Mawile, while Eddy tosses his pokeball, releasing his Vikavolt. Mawile's Intimidate ability kicks in, weakening Vikavolt's attack power.
"Vikavolt, use Charge!" said Eddy. Vikavolt gathers electricity into himself, increasing his defense.
"Mawile, use Crunch!" said Mina. Mawile moves at Vikavolt and bites down on him with its ponytail jaws, dealing damage, and weakening Vikavolt's defense.
"Vikavolt, use Zap Cannon!" said Eddy. Vikavolt releases a green ball of energy that was powered up by Charge that hits Mawile, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Keep it up, Eddy!" said Maxiley. Mina returns her Mawile to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Mawile." said Mina. She puts Mawile's pokeball back in her pocket and pulls out another one; she tosses it, releasing her Granbull.
"Vikavolt, use Thunderbolt!" said Eddy. Vikavolt releases a powerful jolt of electricity from his mandibles that hits Granbull.
"Granbull, use Fire Fang!" said Mina. Granbull bites down hard on Vikavolt with fire-coated fangs, dealing super effective damage; parts of Vikavolt's body catches on fire.
"Vikavolt's burned, Eddy!" said Edd. Vikavolt struggles to stay in midair.
"Vikavolt, hurry and use Zap Cannon!" said Eddy. Vikavolt fires off another ball of green energy that hits Granbull, dealing enough damage to knock it out; suddenly, Vikavolt's burn takes its toll on him, making him pass out.
"It's a double knockout." said Jimmy. Both trainers return their respective Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"You were great, pal." Eddy says to Vikavolt who was in his pokeball.
"You as well, Granbull." said Mina. Both trainers put their pokeballs away. Mina takes her last one out of her pocket and tosses it, releasing her Ribombee while Eddy takes one off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Incineroar.
"Incineroar, use Flamethrower!" said Eddy. Incineroar releases a stream of fire from his belt that hits Ribombee, dealing super efffective damage.
"Ribombee, use Pollen Puff!" said Mina. Ribombee gathers purple pollen and forms it into a ball that it then throws at Incineroar, dealing damage.
"Time to end this!" said Eddy. "Incineroar, use Flare Blitz!" His Incineroar's body becomes covered in intense flame as he charges headfirst at Ribombee and slams hard into it, dealing more than enough super effective damage to knock it out while taking some recoil damage from the attack.
"Eddy won!" said Ed.
"That Flare Blitz brings back memories from Sinnoh." said Edd as he recalls his last match with Eddy at the Sinnoh League. MIna returns her Ribombee to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Ribombee." said Mina. She puts Ribombee's pokeball away and walks over to Eddy; she then gives him a pink petal like the others have.
"It's time to explain what those are for." said Mina.
The group has defeated MIna. What is the purpose of the pink petals she gave them? Wait and find out.
