Mina's Trial (Part Seven)
On top of Wela Volcano Park, after Kiawe returned from getting his Pokemon treated after their battle with Jimmy, Ed and Kiawe were standing several yards from each other.
"Are you ready for our battle, Ed?" asked Kiawe, pulling out a pokeball.
"You bet your sweet bippy I am." said Ed as he pulls out a pokeball.
"Arcanine, go!" said Kiawe, throwing Arcanine's pokeball and releasing it.
"Come out, Gigalith!" said Ed, throwing Gigalith's pokeball and releasing him.
"Arcanine, use Crunch!" said Kiawe. Arcanine lunges at Gigalith while its fangs glowed white.
"Iron Defense!" said Ed. Gigalith glows white and his body shines,j raising his defense before Arcanine bite him, but not doing much damage, but weakening Gigalith's special defense. "Now use Rock Slide!" Multiple gray rocks appear in front of Gigalith and he launches them at Arcanine; they hit it, dealing super effective damage.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!" said Kiawe. Arcanine charges at Gigalith with incredible speed and rams him, but not dealing a lot of damage.
"Power Gem!" said Ed. Gigalith fires a pink beam of energy from the crystal on its torso and it hits Arcanine, dealing super effective damage. Arcanine struggles to stay on its feet.
"Arcanine, Crunch!" said Kiawe. Arcanine lunges at Gigalith and bites him, but not dealing much damage.
"Gigalith, Headbutt!" said Ed. Gigalith headbutts Arcanine as it was releases its jaws from Gigalith, knocking it out.
"Great work, Ed!" said Eddy.
"That's my brother!" said Sarah. Kiawe returns Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Arcanine." said Kiawe. He puts Arcanine's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Talonflame, go!" He throws Talonflame's pokeball and releases it. "Talonflame, Flame Charge!" Talonflames flies at Gigalith while fire surrounds its body and rams Gigalith, but not doing much damage.
"Gigalith's defense is too strong." said Edd.
"Gigalith, Smack Down!" said Ed. Gigalith forms a golden ball of energy in front of him and launches it at Talonflame, dealing massive damage due to Talonflame being two types that are both weak against rock type moves.
"Talonflame, Brave Bird!" said Kiawe. Talonflame flies at Gigalith while a fiery blue aura surrounds its body and rams into Gigalith, but not doing much damage; Talonflame flinches in pain from the recoil damage caused by Brave Bird.
"Gigalith, Rock Blast!" said Ed. Gigalith launches a barrage of rocks from his body that hits Talonflame, knocking it out.
"That was amazing!" said Jimmy.
"Just one more." said Maxiley.
"Ed's got this." said Eddy. Kiawe returns Talonflame to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Talonflame." said Kiawe. He puts Talonflame's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You've done an excellent job training your Gigalith, Ed; but lets see how he handles Marowak." He throws Marowak's pokeball and releases it. "Marowak, Bonemerang!" Marowak throws its bone at Gigalith and hits him, dealing super effective damage; it turns around and hits Gigalith again, dealing more damage to him.
"Good thing Ed had Gigalith use Iron Defense; I feel Bonemerang would have done more damage to him." said Edd.
"Gigalith, Rock Slide!" said Ed. Multiple gray rocks formed in front of Gigalith and he launches them at Marowak, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage.
"Marowak, Shadow Bone!" said Kiawe. Marowak charges at Gigalith and strikes him with its bone, but not dealing much damage to him.
"Gigalith, Stone Edge!" said Ed. Gigalith slams his front legs onto the ground, making light blue rock pillars come out of the ground towards Marowak and they hit it, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Ed did it!" cheered Sarah.
"Told ya." said Eddy.
"That was incredible!" said Maxiley. Kiawe returns Marowak to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Marowak." said Kiawe. He puts Marowak's pokeball away and walks to Ed. "You did an amazing job training your Gigalith, Ed."
"Yep." replied Ed. Kiawe reaches into his pocket and pulls out a red flower petal and pokedollars.
"You have earned these, Ed." said Kiawe, holding out the petal and pokedollars, which Ed accepts. Kiawe turned towards the others. "Who will be challenging me next?"
"I believe I shall." replied Edd, stepping forward.
"As soon as my Pokemon are treated, I will return, and we will have our battle." said Kiawe.
"That will be plenty of time for me to come up with a strategy." replied Edd. Kiawe summons a Ride Charizard and climbs onto it; he flies away while Edd walk onto the battle arena.
Twenty minutes later, Kiawe returns, and Edd gets ready to battle him.
"Are you ready?" asked Kiawe.
"I believe I am sufficiently prepared." said Edd. Kiawe nods as he and Edd each take a pokeball off their waists.
"Then let us get started." said Kiawe as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Arcanine; Edd then tosses his pokeball, letting out his Espeon.
"Arcanine, Extreme Speed!" said Kiawe.
"Espeon, please use Quick Attack!" said Edd. Both trainers' Pokemon move at each other at fast speed and collide with each other, knocking each other back.
"Arcanine, use Crunch!" said Kiawe. His Arcanine lunges at Espeon and bites down on her, dealing super effective damage, and weakening her defenses.
"Espeon, please use Psychic!" said Edd. His Espeon's eyes glowed blue as she uses her psychic abilities to lift Arcanine up off the ground, and slams it back down hard, dealing damage.
"Arcanine, one more Crunch!" said Kiawe. His Arcanine bites down hard on Espeon again, and thanks to her weakened defense, the attack did enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"No!" shouted Sarah.
"Poor Espeon." said Jimmy.
"Double-D can still win this!" said Eddy. Edd returns his Espeon to her pokeball.
"You did your best, my friend." said Edd. He puts Espeon's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Stoutland.
"Dog vs. dog!" said Sarah.
"But who's gonna be the top one?" asked Eddy.
"Stoutland, please use Retaliate!" said Edd. Stoutland growls before lunging at Arcanine and slams into it hard, knocking it down."
"That looked like it hurt." said Maxiley.
"Because Retaliate's power is increased when one of my Pokemon passes out before it's used." said Edd.
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed!" said Kiawe. His Arcanine moves quickly at Stoutland and slams into him.
"Stoutland, please use Crunch!" said Edd. His Stoutland bites down hard on Arcanine, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Sweet!" said Eddy.
"Keep it up, Double-D!" said Maxiley. Kiawe returns his Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You were great, Arcanine." said Kiawe. He puts Arcanine's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off another one; he tosses it, releasing his Talonflame. "Talonflame, use Flame Charge!" His Talonflame's body becomes covered in fire as it flies at Stoutland and rams him, dealing damage; a surge of energy then rises.
"What's going on?" asked Sarah.
"Flame Charge increases the speed of the Pokemon that uses it." said Edd.
"Whoa." said Ed.
"But that will not stop us." said Edd. "Stoutland, please use Thunder Fang!" His Stoutland's fangs become covered in electricity before they bite down onto one of Talonflame's wings, dealing super effective damage; it also begins to twitch.
"Talonflame's paralyzed." said Ed.
"So much for Flame Charge's speed boost." said Eddy.
"Talonflame, use Brave Bird!" said Kiawe. Talonflame fights through paralysis as its body becomes covered in a blue aura; it flies up before coming back down fast onto Stoutland, causing an explosion.
"Man, that move's intense." said Eddy.
"Yes, but it will still cause Talonflame damage as well." said Edd as Talonflame cringes in pain; his Stoutland struggles to its feet. "Stoutland, please use Crunch!" His Stoutland leaps at Talonflame and bites down hard on it, dealing damage, and weakening its defense.
"Talonflame, use Quick Attack!" said Kiawe. His Talonflame tries to do so, but paralysis stops it.
"Stoutland, use Tackle!" said Edd. His Stoutland runs at Talonflame and rams it, and thanks to Talonflame's weakened defense, the attack was enough to knock it out.
"Sweet!" said Eddy.
"One more to go!" said Maxiley. Kiawe returns his Talonflame to its pokeball.
"Rest up." said Kiawe. He puts his Talonflame's pokeball back on his waist and pulls off his last one; he tosses it, releasing his Marowak. "Marowak, use Bonemerang!" His Marowak throws his bone at Stoutland, hitting him in the head, knocking him out.
"And dogs are supposed to like bones." said Eddy.
"Poor Stoutland." said Jimmy.
"Double-D can do it, guys!" said Ed. Edd returns his Stoutland to his pokeball.
"You were splendid, Stoutland." said Edd before he puts Stoutland's pokeball back on his waist; he pulls off his last one and tosses it, releasing his Primarina.
"Primarina, please use Sparkling Aria!" said Edd. His Primarina creates a bunch of bubbles that rocket towards Marowak and hit it, dealing super effective damage. Kiawe frowns before he holds out his wrist, revealing a Z-Ring that had a Firium-Z Crystal in it.
"Is he gonna use a Z-Move?!" asked Eddy.
"Be careful, Double-D!" said Maxiley. Kiawe then crosses his arms in front of him, making Z-Energy flow around him; he then does the poses to transfer it to Marowak, making his Z-Power Symbol appear in front of him.
"Marowak, use Inferno Overdrive!" said Kiawe. His Marowak creates a massive fireball and launches it at Primarina, causing a fiery explosion.
"Primarina!" shouts Jimmy.
"Is she okay?!" asked Sarah. Everyone watches as the smoke clears, revealing Primarina a bit charred, but still conscious; her body becomes covered in a blue aura.
"That's Torrent!" said Eddy. Edd takes out his Primarium Z-Crystal and puts it in his Z-Ring; he then crosses his arms in front of him, making Z-Energy appear before doing the pose to transfer it to Primarina.
"Do it, Double-D!" said Ed.
"Primarina, please use Oceanic Operetta!" said Edd. His Primarina lets out a beautiful melody as she creates a massive bubble; she sends it towards Marowak who could only stare at it before the attack bursts, creating multiple watery shockwaves which hit Marowak all over, and thanks to Primarina's Torrent ability, the attack was powerful enough to knock it out.
"Double-D won!" shouts Ed.
"I love Primarina's singing voice." said Jimmy.
"Me, too." said Sarah. Kiawe sulks a bit before returning his Marowak to its pokeball.
"You were great, Marowak." said Kiawe.
"Primarina, you were splendid." said Edd as he hugs his Primarina who hugs him back. He then sees Kiawe walking over to him.
"You did well." said Kiawe. He then reaches into his pocket, pulls out another red petal, and some pokedollars, and hands them to Edd.
"Thank you, Kiawe." said Edd. Kiawe then looks over at Eddy.
"Looks like it's your turn." said Kiawe.
"You know it." said Eddy.
"I will return when I get my Pokemon treated." said Kiawe. He then gets on his Ride Charizard and flies off to the nearest Pokemon Center while Eddy plans what Pokemon he'll use in his gym battle.
Eddy spent his time waiting for Kiawe, working out what Pokemon he was going to use in his gym battle against him.
Twenty minutes later, Kiawe returns and takes his place on the battlefield.
"You ready?" asked Kiawe.
"Since I got here." said Eddy.
"Let's see what the Lily of the Valley Conference champion can do." said Kiawe as he and Eddy each take a pokeball off their waists. Kiawe throws his pokeball, letting out his Arcanine; and Eddy tosses his, letting out his Poliwrath.
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed!" said Kiawe. Arcanine moves quickly at Poliwrath and slams into him.
"Poliwrath, use Rain Dance!" said Eddy. His Poliwrath dances around, causing dark clouds to form overhead and release a downpour. "Now use Mud Shot!" His Poliwrath releases a large glob of mud at Arcanine, hitting it, dealing super effective damage, and lowering its speed.
"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed again!" said Kiawe. His Arcanine moves quickly at Poliwrath again and slams into him.
"Poliwrath, use Bubble Beam!" said Eddy. His Poliwrath releases a barrage of bubbles that hit Arcanine, and thanks to the rain powering them up, the attack did enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Go, Eddy!" cheered Ed.
"Wonderful strategy, using rain to power up his water type moves." said Edd. "The rain should also weaken Kiawe's fire type moves." Kiawe returns his Arcanine to its pokeball.
"You did well, my friend." said Kiawe. He puts Arcanine's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Talonflame.
"Talonflame, use Brave Bird!" said Kiawe. His Talonflame flies into the air while a blue aura covers its body; it plummets down towards Poliwrath and slams into him hard, dealing super effective damage, and causing a blast that scatters rain water that's on the ground, along with chunks of hardened magma everywhere; when the dust clears, Poliwrath was down on one knee while Talonflame was cringing from the pain by his attack's recoil damage.
"Poliwrath, use Body Slam!" said Eddy. HIs Poliwrath manages to leap up and come crashing down onto Talonflame, driving him into the ground; it gets up and starts twitching.
"Talonflame's paralyzed!" said Maxiley.
"Talonflame, use Acrobatics!" said Kiawe. Talonflame tries to attack, but its paralysis stops it.
"Poliwrath, use Bubble Beam!" said Eddy. His Poliwrath releases a barrage of bubbles that hits Talonflame, and with the rain, they do enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Way to go, Poliwrath!" said Jimmy.
"Just one more to go!" said Sarah. Kiawe returns his Talonflame to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Talonflame." said Kiawe as he puts Talonflame's pokeball back on his waist. "I have to admit; you're Poliwrath is strong, Eddy."
"You know it." said Eddy. Kiawe then takes his last pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Alolan Marowak.
Eddy then notices that his Poliwrath was looking very exhausted. He thinks for a second before returing Poliwrath to his pokeball.
"What are you doing, Eddy?" asked Edd.
"Poliwrath looked pretty banged up." said Eddy.
"That's nice of you, Mr. Eddy." said Jimmy.
"He's changed since Sinnoh." said Sarah.
"For the better." said Edd. Just then, the rain stopped, and the clouds disappeared.
"What Pokemon will Eddy use?" asked Maxiley. Eddy takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Incineroar.
"An excellent move." said Edd. "Incineroar has dark type moves, so he should be able to handle a Pokemon that's part ghost type.
"Incinieroar, use Darkest Lariat, pal!" said Eddy. His Incineroar's claws become coated in dark energy as he spins towards the Alolan Marowak and slashes it, dealing super effective damage.
"Marowak, use Bonemerang!" said Kiawe. His Alolan Marowak throws his bone at Incineroar, hitting him, and deals super effective damage; the bone comes back around and hits him again, dealing more super effective damage.
"Time to bring out the heavy artillery!" said Eddy as he holds out his Z-Ring and puts his Incinium Z-Crystal into it.
"This is going to be so cool!" said Ed. Eddy crosses his arms, making Z-Energy erupt from him; he then does the required pose to transfer it to Incineroar, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of him.
"Incineroar! Use Malicious Moonsault!" said Eddy. A wrestling ring made of gold energy pops up from beneath Kiawe's Marowak; Incineroar runs over to it, leaps up on top of a turnbuckle, leaps up, and comes down belly first onto Marowak, causing a massive blast that forces everyone to shield their eyes.
"That's intense!" shouts Maxiley. When the dust cleared, Incineroar was standing over an unconscious Alolan Marowak.
"Eddy won!" cheered Ed.
"I knew he would!" said Edd.
"That was amazing!" said Jimmy. Kiawe returns his Alolan Marowak to its pokeball.
"You battled bravely, my friend." said Kiawe. He puts his Alolan Marowak's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Eddy. "You have done well, Eddy."
"You know it." said Eddy. Kiawe reaches into his shorts' pocket, and pulls out a red flower petal, along with some pokedollars; he gives the items to Eddy who accepts them.
"Way to go, Eddy!" said Maxiley.
The group has defeated Kiawe and earned their red petals. Now they must journey to Ula'ula Island to earn their next petals. What will they face next as their Alola adventure continues?
