Mina's Trial (Part Eight)
The Eds, Sarah, Jimmy, Maxiley, and Sophocles are walking down Route 11 on their way to the Aether House where the next part of Mina's trial is; however, despite the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy almost being done with Mina's trial, the group was not in high spirits.
Moments ago, they witnessed Eddy's brother defeat Kahuna Nanu; but it wasn't that what put the group in a somber mood, it was what Eddy's brother did to win the Grand Trial is what got them upset. They saw Eddy's brother had his Forretress and Alolan Graveler use Self-Destruct, a move Ed despised, to finish off Kahuna Nanu's last two Pokemon.
"I can't believe your brother would stoop to such lengths to achieve victory, Eddy." said Edd.
"I can; he was always such a jerk!" exclaimed Eddy.
"He is so cruel!" cried Ed.
"At least you threw him into that buoy, big brother." said Sarah.
"I don't think that will set bro straight." said Eddy.
"Perhaps we should train our Pokemon for a while to get our minds off that brute, everyone." said Edd. "We should calm down before battling Captain Acerola when we get to the Aether House."
"Great idea, Double-D." said Eddy. "I did promise my dad I would take my big bro down if I face him in the Alola League, so I want to make sure my Pokemon are strong enough."
"I'm sure they already are, Eddy." said Maxiley.
"Hey, Sophocles; do you mind if we take a break?" asked Jimmy.
"Not at all." replied Sophocles. The group stopped near a grassy area and began to train their Pokemon.
Ed's Decidueye learned Nasty Plot, his Ampharos learned Light Screen, and the rest of his Pokemon got stronger.
Edd's Primarina learned Misty Terrain, his Toucannon got stronger, his Magneton learned Gyro Ball, his Ariados learned Sticky Web, his Stoutland learned Giga Impact, and his Espeon got stronger.
Eddy's Incineroar learned Outrage, and his other Pokemon got stronger.
Sarah's Blissey and Alomomola both learned Healing Wish, her Ledian, Mrs. Mime, and Jolteon got stronger, and her Salazzle learned Dragon Pulse.
Jimmy's Lucario learned Dragon Pulse and Extreme Speed, and his other Pokemon got stronger.
Maxiley's Pokemon also got stronger and his Xatu learned Me First.
Sophocles watched in amazement at how hard the Eds trained their Pokemon; it became clear why the Eds were the top three trainers in the Lily of the Valley Conference.
"Well, I think I'm calm now." said Edd.
"Me, too." said Eddy.
"Yeah." said Ed.
"I think I'm ready to face Captain Acerola now." said Sarah.
"Same here." said Jimmy.
"Shall we continue?" asked Sophocles.
"Sure." replied Maxiley. The group continued to walk; moments later, the Aether House came to view.
"Well, here we are." said Sophocles. "I better be heading back to the observatory now. Alola, everyone."
"Alola." replied the group; Sophocles walks away from the group.
"Ready, gang?" asked Eddy. Everyone then start walking towards the Aether House; when they got closer, they were surprised to see Guzma standing in front of it. "What's Guzma doing there?" Guzma hears Eddy and turns towards the group.
"Oh, it's you kids." said Guzma. "Look; about what happened with Necrozma, I guess I should say thanks."
"You're...welcome." replied Eddy.
"Did you kids take some of the Buginium-Z crystals from my room at Shady House?" asked Guzma.
"Yes." replied Edd.
"To show my thanks, I will show you the pose on how to use them." said Guzma.
"Oh boy!" said Ed. Guzma shows the group how to do the poses needed to use Buginium-Z.
"With those poses, you will be able to use the Z-Move, Savage Spin-Out." said Guzma. He then walks away from the group.
"Come on; I want to do the trial!" said Sarah.
"Yeah; we wasted time watching my brother." replied Eddy.
"Although, training our Pokemon wasn't a waste of our time." replied Edd.
"True." said Eddy.
"Alola, kids!" the group hear Kahuna Nanu call out to them; they look to see him walking over to them.
"Alola, Nanu." said Jimmy.
"How are your Pokemon?" asked Edd.
"They're fully recovered." replied Kahuna Nanu.
"So, what brings you here?" asked Sarah.
"Captain Acerola is too busy right now to take part of Captain Mina's trial and asked me to fill in for her until she returns." said Kahuna Nanu.
"So, we'll be battling you?" asked Eddy.
"Yes; so, who will be battling me first?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"I will." replied Sarah. Seconds later, Sarah and Kahuna Nanu were facing each other, holding a pokeball. "Are we using three Pokemon again?"
"Yes; Sableye, go!" said Kahuna Nanu, throwing Sableye's pokeball and releasing it.
"Alomomola, go!" said Sarah, throwing her Alomomola's pokeball and releasing her. "Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and she flies at Sableye, ramming into it, and dealing damage to it.
"Sableye, Shadow Ball!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye forms a ball of black energy between its hands and throws it at Alomomola, hitting her, and dealing damage, as well as weakening her special defense.
"Alomomola, Water Pulse!" said Sarah. Alomomola forms a blue ball of water in front of her mouth, and she launches it at Sableye, hitting it, and dealing damage; Sableye begins stumbling around.
"Sableye's confused." said Edd.
"Sableye, Dark Pulse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye fights through its confusion and releases a beam of purple and black energy circles from its hands at Alomomola.
"Alomomola, use Protect!" said Sarah. Alomomola forms a green force field in front of her and it blocks Sableye's Dark Pulse. "Now use Brine!" Alomomola fires a powerful stream of water from her mouth, and it hits Sableye, dealing damage.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye snaps out of its confusion and fires a pink beam of energy from its eyes, and it hits Alomomola, damaging her.
"Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" said Sarah. Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and she flies into Sableye, knocking it out.
"Way to go, baby sister!" cheered Ed.
"That was great!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did well, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Absol, go!" He throws a pokeball and releases an Absol.
"Hey; he has an Absol like Eddy did on his Sinnoh team." said Jimmy.
"I wonder what the Alola description of Absol is like." said Edd as he takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at Absol.
"Absol, the Disaster Pokemon. The elderly call it the disaster Pokémon and detest it, but interest in its power to predict disasters is on the rise." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Absol, Sucker Punch!" said Kahuna Nanu. Absol leaps at Alomomola and strikes her with its paw, damaging Alomomola.
"Alomomola, Wake-Up Slap!" said Sarah. Alomomola turns and slaps Absol with her tail, dealing super effective damage.
"Absol, Night Slash!" said Kahuna Nanu. The scythe-shaped horn on Absol's head becomes surrounded by black energy and it slashes Alomomola with it, dealing damage.
"Alomomola, Water Pulse!" said Sarah. Alomomola launches a blue ball of water at Absol.
"Absol, use Detect!" said Kahuna Nanu. Absol's eyes shine light blue, and it jumps to the side, dodging Water Pulse. "Now use Slash!" Absol leaps at Alomomola and slashes her with its horn, knocking her out.
"Don't worry, Sarah." said Edd.
"You can do it!" said Eddy. Sarah returns Alomomola to her pokeball.
"You were great, Alomomola." said Sarah. She puts Alomomola's pokeball away and pulls out another one from her waist. "Ledian, go!" She throws Ledian's pokeball and releases her. "Use Mach Punch!" Ledian flies at Absol with incredible speed while her fist glowed light blue and she punches Absol, dealing super effective damage.
"Absol, use Night Slash!" said Kahuna Nanu. Absol leaps at Ledian while dark energy surrounds its horn.
"Use Reflect!" said Sarah. Ledian holds out her hands and a round, rainbow colored barrier appears in front of her; Absol's horn crashes against it, lessening the damage done to Ledian. "Now use Silver Wind!" Ledian flaps her wings and releases a gust of wind with silver, crescent-shaped blades of energy in them; they hit Absol, dealing super effective damage to Absol, and knocks it out. Ledian begins surging with energy.
"Silver Wind's secondary effect must have activated." said Edd.
"Great work, Sarah!" said Jimmy.
"Two down, one to go." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returned Absol to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Absol." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Absol's pokeball away and pulls out another one from his waist. "You've trained your Pokemon well, Sarah; your Ledian's a lot stronger since the first time I faced her."
"You bet." replied Sarah.
"But let's see if she's strong enough to beat my final Pokemon." said Kahuna Nanu. "Persian, go!" He throws Persian's pokeball and releases it.
"Ledian, use Bug Buzz!" said Sarah. Ledian lets out a loud cry and releases red soundwaves from her mouth; they hit Perisan and deals super effective damage to it.
"Persian, Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian fires a pink beam of energy from the gem on its forehead.
"Ledian, Light Screen!" said Sarah. Ledian holds out her hands and four, transparent squares appear in front of her. Persian's attack crashes into one of them, taking most of the hit, but still dealing super effective damage to Ledian. "Now use Mach Punch!" Ledian flies at Persian while her fist glowed light blue and she punches Persian, dealing super effective damage.
"Let's see if your Ledian's strong enough to handle this." said Kahuna Nanu and he holds up an arm that had a Z-Ring with a Darkinium-Z on it.
"I know where this is going." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu begins doing poses and channels energy into Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Persian, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian lifts up its head and a sphere of black, red, and purple energy forms above it; Persian throws the sphere above Ledian, and it expands into a black hole. It sucks Ledian in and it explodes, dealing damage to her; she falls to the ground in front of Persian.
"Are you okay, Ledian?" asked Sarah. As Ledian struggles to get up, she was surrounded by a light green aura.
"That's Ledian's Swarm ability." said Edd. Sarah smirks while holding up her Z-Ring and puts a Buginium-Z Crystal onto it. Sarah begins doing poses and channels energy into Ledian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of her.
"Ledian, use Savage Spin-Out!" said Sarah. Ledian shoots a thick thread of silk from her mouth, and it wraps around Persian's entire body; she then slams the cocoon onto the ground, then tosses it up into the air. Ledian flies up towards the cocoon and punches through it, causing the cocoon to explode. Persian lands in front of Kahuna Nanu with swirly eyes.
"Sarah won!" said Ed.
"I knew she would." said Jimmy.
"That was amazing!" said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns Persian to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Persian's pokeball away and walks to Sarah. "That was an excellent battle, Sarah."
"Thanks." replied Sarah. Kahuna Nanu reaches into his pocket and pulls out a purple flower petal, along with pokedollars.
"Captain Acerola gave me a lot of these petals to give to those taking part of Mina's trial." said Kahuna Nanu. Sarah smiles and takes the flower petal and pokedollars. "As soon as I get my Pokemon healed, I will battle one of you."
"I want to get Alomomola and Ledian treated too." said Sarah before returning Ledian to her pokeball. She and Kahuna Nanu began walking to the nearest Pokemon Center while Jimmy stepped forward.
"I'll be ready." said Jimmy as he sits down and plans what Pokemon he'll use in his battle.
Twenty minutes later, Kahuna Nanu returns, and he and Jimmy get ready for their battle.
"Are you ready, young man?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"You bet I am." said Jimmy with enthusiasm.
"Then let us begin." said Kahuna Nanu as he and Jimmy each pull a pokeball off their waists. Nanu tosses his pokeball, releasing his Sableye, and Jimmy tosses his, letting out his Butterfree.
"Sableye, use Night Shade!" shouts Kahuna Nanu. His Sableye releases streams of dark energy from its eyes that hit Butterfree.
"Butterfree, use Sleep Powder!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree releases blue powder from his wings that falls onto Sableye, making it fall asleep.
"Sableye, use Fury Swipes!" said Kahuna Nanu, but Sableye was still asleep.
"Butterfree, use Silver Wind!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree flaps his wings, sending a blast of wind that had silver dust in it at Sableye, hitting it, and dealing damage; a surge of power rises up from Butterfree.
"It appears Silver Wind just increased all of Butterfree's stats." said Edd.
"So, he's stronger than before?" asked Eddy.
"Precisely." said Edd.
"Cool!" said Ed.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. This time, Sableye wakes up, and fires beams of light from its eyes that hit Butterfree, dealing super effective damage, but not as much thanks to his stat increases.
"Butterfree, use Air Slash!" said Jimmy. Butterfree swings one of his wings, releasing a blade of air that hits Sableye, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Nice one, Jimmy!" said Maxiley.
"Way to go!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"Rest up for a while." said Kahuna Nanu. He put his Sableye's pokeball on his waist before taking another one off it; he tosses it, releasing his Absol.
"Absol, use Night Slash!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Absol leaps at Butterfree while its horn glows white and slashes him with it, dealing damage.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz!" said Jimmy. Butterfree releases a high-pitched soundwave that hits Absol, dealing super effective damage, and lowers its special defense.
"Absol, use Quick Attack!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Absol runs at Butterfree with incredible speed and slams into him, knocking him out.
"NO!" shouts Sarah.
"He can still win!" said Eddy.
"Don't give up, Jimmy!" said Ed. Jimmy returns his Butterfree to his pokeball.
"You were great, Butterfree." said Jimmy. He puts Butterfree's pokeball back on his waist, then pulls another one off and tosses it, releasing his Lucario.
"A wise choice." said Edd.
"Lucario, use Power-Up Punch!" said Jimmy. His Lucario runs at Absol while his fist glowed orange; he punches Absol, dealing super effective damage, and increasing his attack strength.
"Gotta love that move." said Eddy as he thinks of the time his first Pokemon back in Sinnoh used it.
"Absol, use Psycho Cut!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Absol swings its head, releasing a blade of psychic energy that hits Lucario, dealing damage.
"Good thing Lucario's part steel type now." said Edd.
"Lucario, use Extreme Speed!" said Jimmy. In the blink of an eye, Lucario moves faster than anyone can follow and slams into Absol with such force that it's sent flying past Nanu and slams into a nearby tree, then passes out.
"One more to go, Jimmy!" said Maxiley.
"You got this!" said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returns his Absol to its pokeball.
"Rest, Absol." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Absol's pokeball back on his waist, then takes his last one off it; he tosses it, releasing his Persian.
"Lucario, use Close Combat!" said Jimmy. His Lucario runs at the Persian and lands strong punches and kicks to it, dealing super effective damage; Lucario looked a bit worn out after it.
"Close Combat is a strong move, but it weakens the defenses of the Pokemon that used it." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu holds out his Z-Ring and does the pose required to activate his Darkinium Z-Crystal.
"Uh oh." said Ed.
"Lucario can handle it!" said Sarah. Z-Energy flows out of Kahuna Nanu and into his Persian, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of it.
"Persian, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian lifts up its head and a sphere of black, red, and purple energy forms above it; Persian throws the sphere above Lucario, and it expands into a black hole. It sucks Lucario in and it explodes, dealing damage to him; he falls to the ground in front of Persian. Lucario then slowly gets back up.
"Are you okay, Lucario?" asked Jimmy. Lucario looks at Jimmy and nods. Jimmy holds out his Z-Ring and inserts his Fightium-Z Crystal into it.
"Looks like Jimmy's gonna use a Z-Move of his own." said Maxiley. Jimmy crosses his arms, making Z-Energy flow around him; he then does air punches, making the Z-Energy flow into Lucario, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of him.
"Lucario, use All-Out Pummeling!" shouts Jimmy. Lucario does palm thrusts, making open palm-shaped energy blasts come out of his hands that hit Persian repeatedly, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Jimmy won!" shouts Ed.
"That was incredible." said Edd.
"Knew he could do it." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Persian's pokeball back on his waist before walking over to Jimmy. "You're a strong trainer for your age."
"Thank you." said Jimmy. Kahuna Nanu hands a purple petal, along with some pokedollars, to Jimmy.
"Who am I battling next?" asked Kahuna Nanu as Jimmy rejoins his friends.
"Me!" says Ed as he runs forward and stands where Jimmy did.
"Once I return after getting my Pokemon treated, we shall battle." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Okay." said Ed.
Sarah and Jimmy have won their purple petals. Now Ed will test his skill against Kahuna Nanu. Will he beat him a second time? Wait and find out.
