Mina's Trial (Part Nine)
After Kahuna Nanu returned after getting his Pokemon treated after their battle with Jimmy, he and Ed were standing outside the Aether House several yards from each other, each holding a pokeball.
"Are you ready, Ed?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"You bet." replied Ed.
"Go get him, big brother." said Sarah.
"Go, Sableye!" said Kahuna Nanu, throwing his Sableye's pokeball and releasing it.
"Go, Ampharos!" said Ed, throwing his Ampharos' pokeball and releasing her.
"Sableye, use Shadow Claw!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye leaps at Ampharos while a black aura surrounds its arm.
"Ampharos, Cotton Guard!" said Ed. Ampharos glows white and white puffs of cotton appears around her; they vanish in a puff of smoke and Ampharos glows blue.
"What does that move do?" asked Jimmy.
"It greatly raises the defense of the Pokemon using it." said Edd. Sableye claws Ampharos, but not doing much damage to her due to her increased defense; Sableye begins twitching.
"Looks like Ampharos' Static ability has rendered Sableye paralyzed." said Edd.
"Ampharos, Thunder Punch!" said Ed. The end of Ampharos' arm becomes surrounded by electricity and she punches Sableye with it, dealing damage to it.
"Sableye, Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye fights through her paralysis and fires a pink beam of energy from its eyes at Ampharos.
"Ampharos, use Charge!" said Ed. Ampharos becomes surrounded by yellow sparks and her special defense increases before the beam hits her, but not doing much damage. "Now use Discharge!" Ampharos releases yellow bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Sableye, hitting it, dealing more damage due to Charge powering up Ampharos' next electric type move.
"Sableye, Dark Pulse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Sableye from attacking.
"Ampharos, Thunder Shock!" said Ed. Ampharos releases electricity from her body and it hits Sableye, knocking it out.
"Way to go, Ed!" said Eddy.
"That was amazing!" said Maxiley.
"With Ampharos' defenses increased, defeating her will be a little difficult for Kahuna Nanu." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu returns Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball away and pulls out another from his waist. "Absol, go!" He throws Absol's pokeball and releases it. "Absol, use Sucker Punch!" Absol charges at Ampharos and strikes her with its paw, but not doing much damage due to her increased defense; Absol begins twitching.
"Ampharos' Static ability strikes again." said Edd.
"Ampharos, Signal Beam!" said Ed. Ampharos fires a rainbow-colored beam of energy from the red gem on her forehead and it hits Absol, dealing super effective damage; Absol begins stumbling around.
"There's a chance Signal Beam will cause the Pokemon that hits it to be confused." said Edd.
"Ampharos, Electro Ball!" said Ed. Ampharos raises her arms up and forms a yellow ball of electricty between the ends of them; she throws it at Absol, and hits it, dealing damage.
"Absol, Night Slash!" said Kahuna Nanu. Absol fights through both its paralysis and confusion and leaps at Ampharos while dark energy surrounds its horn; it slashes Ampharos with it, but not doing much damage.
"Ampharos, use Brick Break!" said Ed. Ampharos leaps at Absol while raising her arm.
"Absol, Detect!" said Kahuna Nanu. Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of Absol and it hurts itself; Ampharos strikes Absol with her arm, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"You're doing awesome, Ed!" said Maxiley.
"Just one Pokemon left to beat!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns Absol to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Absol." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Absol's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Your Ampharos is doing quite well, Ed."
"Thanks." replied Ed.
"Even so, you still have to beat my last Pokemon before you get a petal from me." said Kahuna Nanu. "Go, Persian!" He throws Persian's pokeball and releases it. "Persian, use Fake Out!" Persian leaps at Ampharos and stops a couple feet in front of her; it claps its front paws together and releases a shockwave that hits Ampharos, but not dealing much damage, but making her flinch. Persian begins to twitch.
"Let me guess; Ampharos' Static ability." said Eddy.
"Precisely." replied Edd.
"Perisan, Dark Pulse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian fights through its paralysis and fires dark purple rings of energy from the gem on its forehead and it hits Ampharos, but not dealing much damage.
"Ampharos, Electro Ball!" said Ed. Ampharos forms a yellow ball of electricity and throws it at Persian, hitting it, and dealing damage. Kahuna Nanu he holds up an arm that had a Z-Ring with a Darkinium-Z on it.
"I know what Kahuna Nanu's going to do." said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu begins doing poses and channels energy into Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Persian, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian lifts up its head and a sphere of black, red, and purple energy forms above it; Persian throws the sphere above Ampharos and it expands into a black hole. It sucks Ampharos in and it explodes, dealing damage to her; she falls to the ground in front of Persian. Ampharos struggles to get up.
"Two can play that game." said Ed. He holds up his Z-Ring and puts his Electrium Z-Crystal into it. Ed begins doing poses and channels energy into Ampharos; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of her. "Ampharos, use Gigavolt Havoc!" Ampharos gathers a large yellow ball of electricity and punches it, launching it at Persian and it hits it, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Ed won!" said Sarah.
"I knew he would." said Jimmy.
"Way to go, Ed!" said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returns Persian to its pokeball.
"You've earned a rest, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Perisan's pokeball and walks to Ed. "Your Ampharos has improved since she battled in my Grand Trial."
"Thanks." replied Ed. Kahuna Nanu pulls a purple flower petal and pokedollars from his pocket and gives them to Ed. Kahuna Nanu turned towards the rest of the group.
"Which of you will I be battling next?" asked Kahuna Nanu.
"I believe I shall." replied Edd.
"Once I get my Pokemon healed, we will have our battle." said Kahuna Nanu.
"Yes, sir." said Edd.
As Edd waited for Kahuna Nanu's return, he goes over Sarah, Jimmy, and Ed's battles with him and plans out his strategies.
Twenty minutes later, Kahuna Nanu returns, and gets ready for his battle with Edd.
"I hope you can give me a good match." said Kahuna Nanu.
"I assure you that I will." said Edd.
"Then let us begin." said Kahuna Nanu as he and Edd each pull a pokeball off their waists; Kahuna Nanu lets out his Sableye while Edd lets out his Toucannon.
"Toucannon, please use Screech!" said Edd. Toucannon lets out a high-pitched shriek that forces Sableye to cover its ears, lowering its defense.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Sableye's eyes glowed before beams of energy comes out of them, hitting Toucannon, dealing super effective damage.
"Toucannon, please use Drill Peck!" said Edd. His Toucannon flies at Sableye while spiraling and rams his beak into it, dealing more damage than before due to its weakened defense.
"Sableye, use Power Gem again!" said Kahuna Nanu. Sableye fires another pair of energy beams at Toucannon.
"Toucannon, please dodge and use Pluck!" said Edd. His Toucannon flies up to dodge Sableye's attack and jabs his beak into its chest, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Way to go, Double-D!" said Ed.
"Keep it up, sockhead!" said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"Rest for now, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Absol.
"Toucannon, please use Roost!" said Edd. Toucannon perches on a branch nearby and gathers energy, healing himself.
"Absol, use Psycho Cut!" said Kahuna Nanu. Absol swings his head, releasing a blade of purple psychic energy from his horn at Toucannon, landing a critical hit, dealing damage.
"Toucannon, please use Rock Smash!" said Edd. Toucannon slams his beak down hard onto Absol, dealing super effective damage; Absol's body goes a little limp.
"Looks like Rock Smash weakened Absol's defense." said Maxiley.
"Absol, use Sucker Punch!" said Kahuna Nanu. Before Toucannon can back away after his attack, Absol thrusts his paw forward and rams it into Toucannon's torso, dealing damage.
"Toucannon, please use Beak Blast!" said Edd. His Toucannon flies up into the sky, then comes plummeting down as his beak heats up; he slams down hard onto Absol, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Way to go, Double-D!" said Sarah.
"One more to go!" said Jimmy. Kahuna Nanu returns his Absol to its pokeball.
"Thanks for trying your best, Absol." said Kahuna Nanu before putting Absol's pokeball back on his waist. "I must say that you've gotten much stronger since our last battle."
"Thank you, sir." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu takes his last pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Persian.
"Persian, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. The gem on his Persian's forehead glowed before a beam of energy shoots out of it, hitting Toucannon, dealing enough damage to knock him out.
"Aww, man!" said Eddy.
"Double-D can still win!" said Maxiley.
"He has two Pokemon left!" said Sarah. Edd returns his Toucannon to his pokeball.
"You did well, my friend." said Edd. He puts his Toucannon's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Primarina.
Kahuna Nanu holds out his wrist that had his Z-Ring with his Darkinium-Z crystal embedded in it.
"Here we go again." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu begins doing poses and channels energy into Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Persian, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian lifts up its head and a sphere of black, red, and purple energy forms above it; Persian throws the sphere above Primarina that expands into a black hole and sucks her in before exploding.
"I hope Primarina's okay." said Sarah. When the dust cleared, Primarina was still standing strong.
"Fortunate that Primarina's part fairy, making her resistant to dark type moves." said Edd. "Primarina, please use Moonblast!" Her Primarina gathers pink energy and forms it into an orb; she launches it at Kahuna Nanu's Persian and hits it, dealing super effective damage.
"Persian, use Thunderbolt!" said Kahuna Nanu. Electricity shoots out of Persian's head gem and hits Primarina, dealing super effective damage. Edd decides to end this quickly and holds out his Z-Ring that had his Primarium-Z Crystal in it.
"Do it, Double-D!" said Eddy. Edd crosses his arms out in front of him, making Z-Energy cover him; he does the poses needed to transfer the energy into his Primarina, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of her.
"Primarina, please use Oceanic Operetta!" said Edd. His Primarina lets out a beautiful melody as a massive balloon made of water appears over her; she directs it over Kahuna Nanu's Persian where the balloon explodes, causing multiple shockwaves that do enough damage to it to knock it out.
"Double-D won!" said Edd.
"Knew he would!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"Sorry, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts his Persian's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Edd.
"You did well, young man." Kahuna Nanu says to Edd.
"Why, thank you." said Edd. Kahuna Nanu reaches into his pocket, and pulls out a purple petal, along with pokedollars, and hands it to Edd. Eddy steps forward with determination on his face.
"Looks like I'm next!" said Eddy.
"And we shall battle after I get my Pokemon treated." said Kahuna Nanu. While he heads for the Pokemon Center, Eddy plans what he's going to do in his upcoming battle.
Twenty minutes later, Kahuna Nanu returns, and takes his position across from Eddy.
"Are you ready, young man?" Kahuna Nanu asked Eddy.
"Since I got here." said Eddy with a grin.
"Then let's get started." said Kahuna Nanu. He and Eddy each pull a pokeball off their waists; Kahuna Nanu lets out his Sableye while Eddy lets out his Vikavolt.
"Vikavolt, use Spark!" said Eddy. Vikavolt flies at Sableye while covered in electricity and rams into it, dealing damage; Sableye starts to twitch a little.
"Sableye's paralyzed!" said Jimmy.
"Sableye, use Power Gem!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Sableye fights through its paralysis and fires energy beams from its eyes, hitting Vikavolt, dealing super effective damage.
"Oh yeah?!" Eddy responds. "Vikavolt, use Thunderbolt!" His Vikavolt gathers electricity between its mandibles and releases it at Sableye, hitting it, and dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Good work, Eddy!" said Ed.
"Two more to go!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns his Sableye to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Sableye." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Sableye's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Absol.
"Your Absol brings back good memories for me." said Eddy as he thinks about his Absol from his Sinnoh adventures.
"Let's see you'll be fond of the memory of what'll happen next." said Kahuna Nanu. "Absol, use Night Slash!" His Absol's claws glowed purple before it slashes at Vikavolt, dealing damage.
"Vikavolt, use X-Scissor!" said Eddy. Vikavolt flies at the Absol and does a dual slash with his mandibles in an x-shaped pattern, dealing super effective damage.
"Absol, use Knock Off!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Absol slams its paw into Vikavolt's side, knocking him to the ground; he gets back up, still ready to battle.
"Vikavolt, use Bug Bite!" said Eddy. Vikavolt's bites down onto Absol while its body was trapped in his mandibles, dealing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Eddy's doing great!" said Jimmy.
"He is the Lily of the Valley Conference champion after all." said Maxiley. Kahuna Nanu returns his Absol to its pokeball.
"Sorry, Absol." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts Absol's pokeball back on his waist; he pulls another one off and tosses it, releasing his Persian. He then holds out his wrist that had his Z-Ring with his Darkinium-Z crystal embedded in it.
"I know what's coming next." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu begins doing poses and channels energy into Persian; the Z-Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Persian, Black Hole Eclipse!" said Kahuna Nanu. Persian lifts up its head and a sphere of black, red, and purple energy forms above it; Persian throws the sphere above Vikavolt that expands into a black hole and sucks him in before exploding; when the dust clears, everyone sees Vikavolt knocked out.
"Tough break." said Sarah.
"Eddy can still win this." said Jimmy. Eddy returns his Vikavolt to his pokeball.
"Rest up, pal." said Eddy. He puts his Vikavolt's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Poliwrath.
"Poliwrath, use Brick Break!" said Eddy. His Poliwrath brings down an overhead chop down onto the Persian's head, dealing super effective damage.
"Persian, use Thunderbolt!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Persian releases electricity from his head gem that hits Poliwrath, dealing super effective damage.
"Time to bring out the big guns." said Eddy as he holds out his Z-Ring and puts his Fightinium-Z Crystal into it. Eddy crosses his arms out in front of him, making Z-Energy flow all over him; he then does the poses needed to transfer it into his Poliwrath, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of him.
"Poliwrath, use All-Out Pummeling!" said Eddy. Poliwrath does multiple palm thrusts, releasing open palm-shaped, orange energy blasts that hit Persian, causing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Eddy won!" said Ed.
"Way to go, Eddy!" said Maxiley.
"Knew he could do it!" said Sarah. Kahuna Nanu returns his Persian to its pokeball.
"You earned a good rest, Persian." said Kahuna Nanu. He puts his Persian's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Eddy. "You did well, young man."
"You know it." said Eddy. Kahuna Nanu then gives Eddy a purple petal, along with some pokedollars. Eddy then heads back to his friends.
"So where do we go now?" asked Ed.
"I suppose we must head back to Captain Mina." said Edd.
"Then let's get going!" said Eddy.
The group have all defeated Kahuna Nanu and earned their purple petals. Now they are heading back to Seafolk Village on Poni Island. What's the next part of Mina's Trial? Wait and find out.
Meanwhile, on a beach on Ula'ula Island, Eddy's brother was walking towards a Ride Mantine he plans to ride to Poni Island.
"I better not fall off again." muttered Eddy's brother. As he got close to the Mantine, he sees a woman with long, black hair, wearing a red, two-piece swimsuit walking out of the ocean, looking at a big pearl she was holding. Grinning, Eddy's brother walks towards the woman, trying to decide whether he wants the woman, the pearl she had, or both.
Seconds later, the lower half of Eddy's brother was sticking out of the sand of the shore of the beach while the woman glared at him while a large, brown, kangaroo-like Pokemon with a cream colored belly that had a smaller, light purple kangaroo-like Pokemon in its pouch stood next to her.
"Thank you, Kangaskhan." the woman says to the larger Pokemon, now identified as a Kangaskhan. The smaller Kangaskhan jumps out of the larger Kangaskhan's pouch, runs to Eddy's brother, and kicks him.
