Poni Island Grand Trial (Part One)
After the group helped Mina clean the mess in her house after their battles with the Totem Ribombee, they exited her house.
"So, what now, you guys?" asked Ed.
"Alola, everyone." they hear a familiar voice call out to them. They looked to see Kahuna Hapu walking over to them.
"Alola, Hapu." said Jimmy; Hapu looks at him and blushes.
"So, did you all pass Mina's trial?" asked Hapu.
"You bet we did." said Eddy.
"Then all you have left is to battle me in my Grand Trial." replied Hapu. "And if you all win, you'll be all set to compete in the Alola League and the Junior's Division."
"Oh boy!" said Ed.
"We're almost there!" said Edd.
"When you're all ready, come to Exeggutor Island; I'll be waiting for all of you, especially you, Jimmy." said Hapu.
"We will head there tomorrow; today, we want to be fully rested, as well as our Pokemon." replied Edd.
"Very well; I will be waiting for all of you, escpecially you, Jimmy." said Hapu, making Jimmy blush.
Later, the group were in a sleeping quarters, lying on their beds, looking up.
'One more; just one more Grand Trial and me, Ed, and Double-D will be competing in the Alola League.' Eddy thinks to himself.
'It's been a long journey, but we are almost finished with the Island Challenge.' Edd thinks to himself.
'Oh boy; I hope the Alola League will be as fun as the Lily of the Valley Conference.' Ed thinks to himself.
'I can't wait to do the Grand Trial tomorrow; I hope I win it.' Sarah thinks to himself.
'One more Grand Trial and I'll be able to compete in the Junior's Division.' Jimmy thinks to himself. Soon, everyone falls asleep and will be rested for the next day.
The next morning, after breakfast, the group picked up their Pokemon from the nurse; they exited the Pokemon Center with looks of determination on their faces.
"Ready, gang?" asked Eddy.
"You bet, Eddy." replied Ed.
"I am well rested and ready to face Kahuna Hapu." said Edd.
"Bring her on!" said Sarah.
"Yeah!" said Jimmy.
"I'll be cheering for you all." said Maxiley.
"And we'll be cheering for you at Mask Royal's tournament." said Sarah. Maxiley smiled before kissing Sarah on the lips.
"For luck, although I doubt you need it." said Maxiley; Sarah smiles in response. The group walked to the Magikarp boat and climbed aboard; it soon began travelling towards Exeggutor Island. Moments later, they arrived at the island.
"Let's do this." said Eddy. The group began walking through Exeggutor Island until they reached to where the pedistal where the Sun Flute was and saw Kahuna Hapu.
"Alola, Hapu." said Jimmy.
"Alola to you too." said Hapu, blushing. "Are you all ready to battle me?"
"You bet we are!" said Sarah, stepping forward. "I'll battle you first."
"I will not keep you waiting then." said Hapu. The rest of the group stepped away while Sarah and Hapu stood several yards from each other. "We will each use four Pokemon."
"Doesn't matter to me how many Pokemon we use!" said Sarah. Kahuna Hapu pulls out a pokeball.
"Go, Golurk!" said Hapu, throwing a pokeball and releasing a large, bipedal, teal Pokemon that resembled a suit of armor. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Golurk, the Automoton Pokemon and the evolved form of Golett. When the seal on its chest is removed, it rages indiscriminately, turning the whole town around it into a mountain of rubble." said the Rotom Pokedex. Sarah pulls out a pokeball.
"Alomomola, go!" said Sarah, throwing Alomomola's pokeball and releasing her. "Alomomola, use Aqua Jet!" Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and she flies at Golurk, ramming into it, and dealing super effective damage.
"Golurk, Shadow Punch!" said Hapu. Golurk pulls back an arm and brings its fist forward, releasing a black fist out of it and it hits Alomomola, dealing damage.
"Alomomola, Water Pulse!" said Sarah. Alomomola forms a ball of blue water in front of her and she launches it at Golurk, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Golurk, Hammer Arm!" said Hapu. Golurk raises its arms and brings them down towards Alomomola.
"Use Protect!" said Sarah. A green force field forms around Alomomola and Golurk's fists crashes against it, protecting Alomomola. "Now use Brine!" Alomomola releases a powerful stream of water from her mouth and it hits Golurk, dealing super effective damage.
"Golurk, use Mega Punch!" said Hapu. Golurk punches Alomomola with great force, knocking her to the ground.
"Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" said Sarah. Alomomola flies at Golurk while surrounded by water and rams into it, knocking it out.
"Way to go, Sarah!" said Maxiley.
"That's my sister!" said Ed.
"You got this!" said Eddy.
"We'll see about that." said Hapu as she returns Golurk to its pokeball. "You did good, Golurk." She puts Golurk's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Gastrodon, go!" She tosses the pokeball and releases a large, green, sluglike Pokemon with a turquoise underside. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Gastrodon, the Sea Slug Pokemon and the evolved form of Shellos. A relative of Shellder and Cloyster, this ocean dweller sometimes comes onto land in search of food." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Alomomola, Wake-Up Slap!" said Sarah. Alomomola leaps at Gastrodon and slaps it with her tail, damaging it.
"Gastrodon, Mud Bomb!" said Hapu. Gastrodon launches a big ball of mud out of its mouth and it hits Alomomola, dealing damage, and lowering her accuracy.
"Use Aqua Jet!" said Sarah. Alomomola flies at Gastrodon while surrounded by water, but misses due to her accuracy being lowered.
"Gastrodon, Body Slam!" said Hapu. Gastrodon jumps up and comes down towards Alomomola; it lands on her, dealing damage; she begins to twitch.
"Oh my; Alomomola's paralyzed." said Edd.
"Don't give up, Alomomola, use Water Pulse!" said Sarah. Alomomola breaks through her paralysis and launches a blue ball of water at Gastrodon, hitting it, and dealing damage; it begins to stumble around.
"Gastrodon's confused." said Edd.
"Gastrodon, Mud-Slap!" said Hapu. Gastrodon fights through her confusion and sprays a stream of mud out of her mouth and it hits Alomomola, damaging her, and further lowering her accuracy.
"Alomomola, use Brine!" said Sarah. Alomomola fires a powerful stream of water out of her mouth, but misses Gastrodon.
"Gastrodon, Body Slam!" said Hapu. Gastrodon fights through its confusion and jumps up; it comes down and lands hard on Alomomola, knocking her out.
"That was rough." said Eddy.
"Don't give up, Sarah!" said Maxiley.
"I won't." said Sarah before returning Alomomola to her pokeball. "You did great, Alomomola." She puts Alomomola's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Ledian, go!" She throws Ledian's pokeball and releases her. "Ledian, Mach Punch!" Ledian flies towards Gastrodon while her hand glowed light blue and she punches it, dealing damage.
"Gastrodon, Water Pulse!" said Hapu. Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of it and it hurts itself.
"Ledian, use Silver Wind!" said Sarah. Ledian releases a gust of silvery wind from her wings and it hits Gastrodon, knocking it out; energy begins surging through Ledian and her stats increase. Hapu returns Gastrodon to its pokeball.
"You did great, Gastrodon." said Hapu. She puts Gastrodon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Flygon, go!" She tosses the pokeball and releases a light green, bipedal, dragonlike Pokemon with red lens over its eyes, diamond shaped wings, and green antennaes on its head. Edd points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Flygon, the Mystic Pokemon and the final evolved form of Trapinch. People continue to have their hearts stolen by its enchanting songs and find themselves stranded in the desert." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Ledian, use Bug Buzz!" said Sarah. Ledian lets out a loud buzz and releases red soundwaves at Flygon, hitting it, and dealing damage.
"Flygon, Dragon Claw!" said Hapu. Flygon flies at Ledian while a light green aura surrounds its hands and it slashes Ledian with them, dealing damage.
"Ledian, use Air Slash!" said Sarah. Ledian releases light blue energy blades from her wings and they hit Flygon, damaging it.
"Flygon, Dragon Breath!" said Hapu. Flygon releases a light blue energy beam from its mouth towards Ledian.
"Ledian, Light Screen!" said Sarah. A pink force field appears around Ledian; Flygon's attack hits it, reducing the damage done to Ledian. "Now use Swift!" Ledian releases stars from her body and they hit Flygon.
"Flygon, Rock Slide!" said Hapu. Flygon flies up and gray rocks form around they; the rocks fall towards Ledian.
"Use Reflect!" said Sarah. A round, rainbow colored barrier forms above Ledian, the rocks crash against it, but Ledian still receives super effective damage and she falls to the ground. As she gets up, a light green aura surrounds her.
"Ledian's Swarm ability!" said Edd.
"Ledian, Bug Buzz!" said Sarah. Ledian lets out a loud buzz, releasing red soundwaves that hits Flygon, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"You're doing great, Sarah!" said Eddy.
"She's definitely come a long way as a trainer." said Edd.
"You can do it!" said Ed. Hapu returns Flygon to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Flygon." said Hapu. She puts Flygon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing good so far, Sarah; but you still have to beat my final Pokemon. Go, Mudsdale!" She throws a pokeball, releasing her Mudsdale.
"Ledian, use Mach Punch!" said Sarah. Ledian flies at Mudsdale while her hand glowed light blue and she punches Mudsdale, damaging it.
"Mudsdale, use Heavy Slam!" said Hapu. Mudsdale jumps up and a silver aura surrounds its body; it comes down towards Ledian and crashes onto her, knocking her out.
"You can still do this, Sarah!" said Maxiley.
"We believe in you!" said Jimmy. Sarah nods before returning Ledian to her pokeball.
"You were great out there, Ledian." said Sarah. She puts Ledian's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Go, Blissey!" She throws Blissey's pokeball and releases her. "Blissey, use Take Down!" Blissey charges at Mudsdale and rams it with great force, damaging it; Blissey receives recoil damage from Take Down.
"Mudsdale, use Double Kick!" said Hapu. Mudsdale charges towards Blissey and turned around while lifting up its hind legs.
"Use Minimize!" said Sarah. Blissey glows a pinkish-purple color and shrinks to a tiny size; Mudsdale tries to kick her, but she was too small and it misses with both kicks. "Now use Blizzard!" Blissey returns to her regular size and releases a blizzard from her mouth and it hits Mudsdale, dealing super effective damage. Hapu raises an arm, revealing a Z-Ring that had a brown, Z Crystal that had three curved lines on it.
"Oh man, I know where this is going." said Eddy. Hapu begins doing poses and channels energy onto Mudsdale; the Z Power symbol appears in front of it.
"Mudsdale, Tectonic Rage!" said Hapu. Mudsdale stomps onto the ground with its front hooves, creating a fissure that opens beneath Blissey, who falls into it; Mudsdale burrows underground and tackles Blissey out of the fissure with incredible force and she falls to the ground while Mudsdale emerges from underground. Blissey struggles to get up; Sarah glares at Hapu.
"You made a BIG mistake doing that to Blissey, Hapu!" yelled Sarah. She holds up her Z-Ring and puts her Normalium-Z onto it. Sarah begins doing poses and channels energy onto Blissey; the Z Power symbol appears in front of her. "Blissey, use Breakneck Blitz!" Blissey becomes surrounded by an orange aura and she charges at Mudsdale; she rams it with incredible force, sending it flying and it crashes into a ledge; Mudsdale falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Sarah did it!" cheered Ed.
"That was intense." said Eddy.
"I knew she could do it!" said Maxiley. Hapu returns Mudsdale to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Mudsdale." said Hapu. She puts Mudsdale's pokeball away and walks over to Sarah. "You raised your Pokemon well, Sarah."
"You bet I have; me and Blissey have been together since she hatched." replied Sarah. Hapu reaches into her pocket and pulls out a brown Z-Crystal similar to the one she has on her Z-Ring.
"For your victory, I present you with the Groundium-Z." said Hapu. She gives Sarah the Groundium-Z, along with pokedollars. "Give me your passport and I will put a stamp on it to prove you passed my Grand Trial." Sarah gives Hapu her Trainer's Passport; Hapu takes out a rubber stamp and uses it on a page of Sarah's passport. "Now that you passed all the Grand Trials, you will now be able to compete in the Junior's Division."
"YAY!" cheered Sarah before taking back her Trainer's Passport.
"Congratulations, Sarah!" said Maxiley. Hapu turned towards the group.
"Which of you will be facing me next?" asked Hapu.
"I will." said Jimmy, making Hapu blush a little.
"Very well; when I get my Pokemon treated, I will return for our battle." said Hapu before she runs off, taking a few peeks at Jimmy as she does.
Jimmy waits patiently while going over what strategies to use in his Grand Trial.
Twenty minutes later, Hapu returns and she gets ready for her and Jimmy's battle.
"Are you ready?" asked Hapu.
"You bet I am." said Jimmy with determination, making Hapu look at him with admiration.
"Then let us begin." said Hapu. She and Jimmy each take out a pokeball; Hapu tosses hers, releasing her Golurk, while Jimmy tosses his, releasing his Umbreon.
"Since Umbreon is a dark type, he'll have an advantage against a Pokemon that's part ghost type like Golurk." said Edd.
"Umbreon, use Pursuit!" said Jimmy. His Umbreon runs at the Golurk while his body was coated in dark energy and rams into it, dealing super effective damage.
"Golurk, use Dynamic Punch!" said Hapu. Golurk rears its fist back and throws a punch towards Umbreon, hitting him, dealing super effective damage.
"Umbreon, use Assurance!" said Jimmy. Umbreon thrusts his front paws into the Golurk, dealing double the super effective damage it normally would've done, due to him taking damage before, and knocking it out.
"Way to go, Jimmy!" said Eddy.
"Keep it up!" said Sarah. Hapu returns her Golurk to its pokeball.
"Rest up, my friend." said Hapu. She puts Golurk's pokeball away and pulls out another one; she tosses it, releasing her Gastrodon.
"Umbreon, use Feint Attack!" said Jimmy. His Umbreon moves to the left and vanishes, then reappears from the right and slams into the Gastrodon.
"Gastrodon, use Muddy Water!" said Hapu. Her Gastrodon releases a large wave of brown water from beneath its body that washes over Umbreon, dealing enough damage to knock him out.
"NO!" shouts Sarah.
"He can still win this!" said Maxiley.
"Don't give up, Jimmy!" said Eddy.
"I won't!" said Jimmy. "Thanks to Pokemon, I have gotten a lot more self-confidence, and thanks to Lucario, I've gotten into better shape. I owe a lot to mine to quit now!"
"Jimmy really has changed a lot since he got his Riolu." said Edd.
"He sure has." said Eddy. Jimmy returns his Umbreon to its pokeball.
"You were great, Umbreon." said Jimmy. He puts the pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Butterfree.
"Since Butterfree's part flying type, ground type moves will have no effect on him." said Edd.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree releases a high-pitched soundwave that hits Gastrodon, dealing damage, and lowers its special defense.
"Gastrodon, use Body Slam!" said Hapu. Gastrodon launches itself into the air and comes down towards Butterfree.
"Butterfree, dodge and use Air Slash!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree flies back to avoid Gastrodon's attack, then flaps his wings, releasing a blade of wind that hits Gastrodon, dealing more damage than usual thanks to it weakened defense.
"Gastrodon, use Water Pulse!" said Hapu. His Gastrodon releases a pulsating mass of water that hits Butterfree, dealing damage to him.
"Butterfree, use Silver Wind!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree flaps his wings, releasing a blast of wind that had specks of silver in it, hitting the Gastrodon, dealing enough damage to knock it out; a surge of power rises up from him after that.
"Looks like Butterfree's stats have all increased." said Edd.
"Sweet!" said Eddy. Hapu returns her Gastrodon back to its pokeball.
"You did great, Gastrodon." said Hapu. She puts Gastrodon's pokeball back on her waist and pulls another one off; she tosses it, releasing her Flygon.
"Butterfree, use Air Slash!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree releases another blade of wind from his wings, hitting the Flygon, doing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Psybeam!" His Butterfree fires a beam of psychic energy from his body that hits the Flygon; it starts flying around all dizzily.
"Looks like Flygon's confused." said Maxiley.
"Flygon, use Rock Slide!" said Hapu. Her Flygon fights through its confusion and drops lots of rocks onto Butterfree, dealing lots of super effective damage to him.
"That was brutal." said Eddy.
"I believe the stat increase from Silver Wind is what helped Butterfree withstand that attack." said Edd.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree releases another high-pitched soundwave that hits Flygon, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Way to go, Jimmy!" said Sarah.
"One more to go!" said Eddy.
"You can do it!" said Ed. Hapu returns her Flygon to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Flygon." said Hapu before she puts her Flygon's pokeball back on her waist. "I must say that your Pokemon are quite strong."
"Thank you." said Jimmy with a kind smile, making Hapu blush.
"But they won't be a match for my strongest Pokemon!" said Hapu as she takes her last pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing her Mudsdale.
"Butterfree, use Bug Buzz again!" said Jimmy. His Butterfree hits Mudsdale with a high-pitched soundwave, hitting it, dealing damage, and reducing its special defense; a surge of power rises up from Mudsdale, increasing its defenses.
"Mudsdale's Stamina ability could be troublesome." said Edd.
"Mudsdale, use Heavy Slam!" said Hapu. Her Mudsdale leaps up and comes crashing down onto Butterfree, dealing enough damage to knock him out.
"Aww, man!" said Eddy.
"Jimmy still has two Pokemon left he can use." said Maxiley. Jimmy returns his Butterfree to his pokeball.
"You were amazing, Butterfree." said Jimmy. He puts his Butterfree's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Wishiwashi who has other ones swarm all over him, thanks to his Schooling ability, and turning him into his School Form.
"You can do it, Jimmy!" said Ed.
"Wishiwashi, use Hydro Pump!" said Jimmy. His Wishiwashi releases a powerful stream of water from his mouth, hitting the Mudsdale, dealing lots of super effective damage to it.
"Mudsdale, use Mega Kick!" said Hapu. Her Mudsdale kicks Wishiwashi with its back legs, dealing damage to him.
"Wishiwashi, use Brine!" said Jimmy. His Wishiwashi releases a stream of water from his mouth that hits Mudsdale, dealing more super effective damage than it normally would've, thanks to Mudsdale's stamina being low.
"Mudsdale, use Earthquake!" said Hapu. Her Mudsdale stomps hard on the ground, releasing a powerful shockwave that hits Wishiwashi, doing enough damage to return him to his Solo Form; he struggles to stay standing.
"This ends now!" said Jimmy. "Wishiwashi, use Aqua Tail!" Wishiwashi finds the strength to swings his tail while water forms over it and hits Mudsdale under its chin, knocking it onto its back, unconscious.
"Jimmy won!" said Ed.
"Knew he could do it the whole time." said Eddy.
"Quite impressive." said Edd. Hapu returns her Mudsdale to its pokeball.
"You take a good rest now." said Hapu. She puts her Mudsdale's pokeball back on her waist and walks over to Jimmy. "You were a strong opponent."
"Thank you." said Jimmy. With a blush, Hapu reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Groundium-Z crystal.
"As proof of your victory, I present you with this Groundium-Z." said Hapu. She hands the Groundium-Z, along with some pokedollars, to Jimmy; she then takes out a rubber stamp and uses it on Jimmy's Trainer Passport.
"Thank you." said Jimmy. Hapu then closes her eyes, and gives Jimmy a quick kiss on the cheek, making him blush a little.
"I hope you do well in the Junior's Division." said Hapu as she blushes.
"T-Thank you." said Jimmy.
"So who am I battling next?" asked Hapu.
"Me!" said Ed.
"Very well." said Hapu. "Once my Pokemon are healed, I will return for our battle."
"Okay." said Ed.
Sarah and Jimmy have both passed their final Grand Trials and can now challenge the Alola League's Junior Division. Now the Eds will test their skills. Will they win? Wait and find out.
