Masked Royal's Tournament
After winning their final Grand Trials, the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy were preparing for the Alola League and the Junior Division, as well as helping Maxiley prepare for the Masked Royal's tournament. They learned about strong Pokemon on a mountain known as Mount Lanakila which is located on Ula'ula Island.
The next morning, after having breakfast and picking up their Pokemon, they used their Ride Pagers to summon Ride Charizards to take them to Ula'ula Island; they arrived at Malie City where they plan on buying winter attire because they heard it was cold on Mount Lanakila. After buying winter attire, they called for Ride Mudsdales and rode them to the bottom of Mount Lanakila where they saw a lift that would take them up to a path that goes up Mount Lanakila. After taking the lift up Mount Lanakila, they travelled up the mountain where they arrived at an area where they saw Pokemon strong enough to make them decide to train their Pokemon there.
Maxiley and his Crabrawler were currently facing a wild Glalie.
"Crabrawler, use Power-Up Punch!" said Maxiley. Crabrawler leaps at Glalie while an orange aura surrounded one of his pincers and he hits Glalie with it, knocking it out.
"You're doing quite well, Maxiley." said Edd. Crabrawler suddenly begins to glow.
"Crabrawler's evolving!" said Maxiley. Everyone watched as Crabrawler began to grow; when he stopped glowing, he was covered almost entire in white fur, the end of his pincers have dark blue, paw-shaped markings on them, the top of his head was yellow, and he had a purple chest and abdomen. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at Maxiley's newly-evolved Crabrawler.
"Crabominable, the Woolly Crab Pokemon and the evolved form of Crabrawler. Before it stops to think, it just starts pummeling. There are records of its turning back avalanches with a flurry of punches." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"It says Crabominable is now part fighting and part ice, and he learned Ice Punch when he evolved." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed.
"Man, thanks, Eds." said Maxiley. "I feel being with you guys has made me a stronger trainer.
"Well, you are our protege, or prot-Ed-ge as I like to call you." said Edd before chuckling.
"Prot-Ed-ge; I like that." said Maxiley.
The group spent most of the month until the day of Mask Royal's tournament, training their Pokemon; they also took Saturdays off so they, along with their Pokemon can rest and relax.
Ed's Ampharos learned Thunder and Dragon Pulse, and his Dewgong learned Safeguard and Hail.
Edd's Ariados learned Toxic Thread, his Magnezone learned Zap Cannon, and his Stoutland learned Play Rough.
Eddy's Incineroar learned Cross Chop, his Perisan learned Feint and Dark Pulse, his Noivern learned Hurricane, and his Poliwrath learned Circle Throw. He trained his Pokemon hard to keep his word to his father, which is to beat his brother if he somehow makes it to the Alola League.
Sarah's Alomomola learned Healing Wish, Wide Guard, and Hydro Pump. Jimmy's Pokemon also got stronger.
Maxiley's Tyranitar learned Stone Edge, and his Xatu learned Me First.
Finally, the day of the Mask Royal's tournament has finally arrived. The group was on Akala Island in Royal Avenue; Maxiley was in front of the group, looking at the Battle Royal Dome.
"Well, the day you've been waiting for has finally arrived, Maxiley." said Edd.
"How are you feeling, Maxie?" said Sarah.
"I'm really excited; I can't wait to face the Masked Royal." said Maxiley.
"Not gonna happen; the pleasure of battling Masked Royal will be mine." said a familiar voice that made Maxiley frown; the group turned to see Makoa, standing a few yards from them.
"Alola, Makoa." muttered Maxiley with no enthusiasm.
"Didn't think you'd actually showed up." said Makoa.
"Please; you think I want to miss out on this tournament?" asked Maxiley.
"You should've and saved yourself the humaliation when I beat you in front of hundreds of people." said Makoa. Maxiley turned towards the group.
"Let's go." said Maxiley. He and the rest of the group walked into the arena.
Moments later, Maxiley, Makoa, and thirty other trainers were standing around the outside of the ring; a man in a suit stood in the middle of the ring, holding a microphone. The Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy were watching from the audience from the front row.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mask Royal Tournament, taking place here in the Battle Royal Dome." said the man into the microphone. "Today, one of these trainers will compete for the right to Battle Royal Champion, Mask Royal, for his title. These trainers will compete against one another until one is left; the trainer remaining will face Mask Royal tomorrow for his title." Everyone in the audience, including the Ed's group cheered.
"With introductions out of the way, let the Mask Royal Tournament commence!" said the man.
Moments later, Maxiley, the first of two trainers to start in the tournament was standing in the ring, facing a girl, wearing a white sundress with pink floral designs on it, and pink sandals, standing several yards from him.
"On this side, from Konikoni City; Maxiley." said the man who was acting as an official, motioning towards Maxiley; he then motions to the girl. "And on this side, from Malie City, Keiba. Each trainer will use only one Pokemon; let the match begin!" The man steps out of the ring and Maxiley and Keiba each pull out a pokeball.
"Xatu, go!" said Maxiley, throwing Xatu's pokeball and releasing him.
"Maxiley has brought out a Xatu; what Pokemon will Keiba bring out?" asked an announcer.
"Let's go, Shiinotic!" said Keiba, throwing a pokeball and releasing a large, mushroom-like Pokemon.
"And Keiba's Pokemon is a Shiinotic." said the announcer. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Shiinotic, the Illuminating Pokemon and the evolved form of Morelull. When it starts fighting for territory with Parasect, the entire area gets completely coated in spores!" said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Xatu, use Peck!" said Maxiley. Xatu flies at Shiinotic and jabs it with his beak, dealing super effective damage. Purple powder comes out of Shiinotic and onto Xatu; it turned purple under Xatu's eyes.
"You activate my Shiinotic's Effect Spore ability." said Keiba. "When Shiinotic's attacked physically, there's a chance the Pokemon that attacked her will either be paralyzed, poisoned, or asleep; looks like your Pokemon's poisoned."
"Won't stop us." replied Maxiley.
"Shiinotic, use Astonish!" said Keiba. Shiinotic leaps close to Xatu and makes a frightening face at him, dealing super effective damage to him, and making him flinch; Xatu coughs from his poisoning and loses stamina. "Now use Dazzling Gleam!" A rainbow-colored sphere forms around Shiinotic and it leaps at Xatu, ramming into him, and dealing damage. Xatu coughs from his poisoning.
"Xatu, Ominous Wind!" said Maxiley. Xatu flaps his wings and releases a purple gust of wind from them; it hits Shiinotic, dealing damage; Xatu beings surging with energy.
"There's a chance Ominous Wind will increase all the stats of the Pokemon that used it." said Edd.
"Sweet." said Eddy.
"Shiinotic, use Moonblast!" said Keiba. Shiinotic forms a ball of pink energy between her hands and she launches it at Xatu, hitting him, and dealing damage; Xatu coughs from his poisoning and loses more stamina.
"Xatu, Psychic!" said Maxiley. Xatu's eyes glowed light blue and fires multiple purple rings of energy from his body that hits Shiinoitc, knocking it out.
"No!" exclaimed Keiba.
"Shiinotic is unable to battle. The winner of this match is Maxiley." said the official.
"Maxiley's Xatu has defeated Keiba's Shiinotic, earning Maxiley the victory; Maxiley will be advancing to the next round." said the announcer.
"Maxiley won!" said Ed.
"Way to go!" said Sarah. Keiba returns Shiinotic to her pokeball.
"You did your best, Shiinotic." said Keiba. She puts Shiinotic's pokeball away and walks to Maxiley. "Good battle."
"Thanks." replied Maxiley. Keiba gives Maxiley pokedollars and walks out of the ring. After several more matches, Makoa stood in the ring, facing a boy, wearing a t-shirt with a pokeball design on it, white cargo shorts, and white sandals.
"On this side, Makoa." said the official, motioning towards Makoa; he then motions towards Makoa's opponent. "And on this side, Koa. Each trainer will use only one Pokemon. Let the match begin." The official steps out of the ring while Makoa and Koa each pull out a pokeball.
"Druddigon, go!" said Makoa, throwing a pokeball and releasing a blue, dragonlike Pokemon with wings, and a red head.
"Makoa's Pokemon is a Druddigon." said the announcer. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Druddigon, the Cave Pokemon. It infiltrates tunnels that Pokémon like Diglett and Dugtrio have dug and quietly waits for prey to pass through." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Passimian, go!" said Koa, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Passimian.
"And Koa's Pokemon is a Passimian." said the announcer.
"Passimian, use Bulk Up!" Passimina bulks up and its attack and defense increases.
"Druddigon, use Dragon Claw!" said Makoa. Druddigon flies at Passimian while its claws glowed light blue and it claws Passimian with them, damaging it.
"Passimian, use Close Combat!" said Koa. Passimian leaps at Druddigon and repeatedly kicks and punches it, damaging it; Passimian slumps and it begins rubbing its hands and feet. "What's wrong, Passimian?"
"My Druddigon's Rough Skin ability; does damage to Pokemon that attacks him, physically." replied Makoa. Passimian begins surging with energy.
"Well, my Passimian's Defiant abilty activated; it raises his attack when one of his stats is lowered, and his defense decreased when he used Close Combat." said Koa.
"Druddigon, use Outrage!" said Makoa. Druddigon's eyes glowed red and he's surrounded by a red aura; he flies at Passimian and claws him, knocking it out.
"Passimian is unable to battle. The winner of this match is Makoa." said the official.
"Makoa's Druddigon has defeated Koa's Passimian, so Makoa will be advancing to the next round." said the announcer.
"So much for that attack increase." Makoa says to Koa. He frowns before returning Passimian to his pokeball.
"Don't worry, Passimian; we'll keep training." said Koa. He walks to Makoa and gives him pokedollars. "Good battle."
"Not for you, anyway." replied Makoa. Kao frowns before stepping out of the ring.
"Man, Makoa's a jerk!" said Sarah.
"You can say that again." said Jimmy.
The tournament continued on with Maxiley and Makoa both advancing. Moments later, in the ring.
"Crabominable, use Ice Punch!" said Maxiley. Crabominable leaps at his opponent's Pinsir while his pincer glowed light blue and punches Pinsir with it, knocking it out.
"Pinsir is unable to battle. The winner of this match is Maxiley." said the official.
"Maxiley's Crabominable has beaten Olaola's Pinsir; Maxiley has now advanced to the finals where he will be facing Makoa." said the announcer.
Moments later, Maxiley and Makoa stood in the ring, facing each other.
"Well, he we are again." said Makoa. "Only this time, I'll be the one winning."
"We'll see about that, won't we?" replied Maxiley. The official steps into the center of the ring.
"This final round is between Maxiley and Makao." said the offical. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer with Pokemon remaining will win the tournament. Let the final match of the tournament begin." The official steps out of the ring while Maxiley and Makoa each pull out a pokeball.
"Volcarona, go!" said Makoa, throwing a pokeball and releasing a large, mothlike Pokemon with six, orange, leaflike wings.
"Makoa's first Pokemon is a Volcarona." said the announcer. Edd takes out the pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Volcarona, the Sun Pokemon, and the evolved form of Larvesta. According to legends, it was hatched from a flaming cocoon to save people and Pokémon that were suffering from the cold." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Makoa's Larvesta must've evolved." said Edd.
"Vaporeon, go!" said Maxiley, throwing Vaporeon's pokeball, and releasing him.
"And Maxiley's first Pokemon is a Vaporeon." said the announcer.
"Vaporeon, Quick Attack!" said Maxiley. Vaporeon charges at Volcarona with incredible speed and rams it, dealing damage.
"Volcarona, use Absorb!" said Makoa. Volcarona releases a red stream of energy from its body and it hits Vaporeon, dealing super effective damage, and healing Volcarona's wounds.
"Vaporeon, use Water Pulse!" said Maxiley. Vaporeon forms a blue ball of water in front of his mouth and launches it at Volcarona, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; Volcarona begins fluttering around, dizzily.
"Volcarona's confused." said Edd.
"Volcarona, Quiver Dance!" said Makoa. Volcarona fights through its confusion and begins to dance around while glowing white; it begins surging with energy.
"Quiver Dance increases all the stats of the Pokemon that used it." said Edd.
"Vaporeon, use Muddy Water!" said Maxiley. Brown water appears from beneath Vaporoen and it washes over Volcarona, dealing super effective damage.
"Volcarona, use Silver Wind!" said Makoa. Volcarona fights through its confusion and flaps its wings, releaseing a silver gust of wind from them and it hits Vaporeon, damaging him; energy begins surging through Volcarona.
"Silver Wind increased Volcarona's stats." said Edd.
"Maxiley better take down Volcarona, quick." said Sarah.
"Vaporeon, use Bite!" said Maxiley. Vaporeon leaps at Volcarona and bites its head, damaging it, and making it flinch. "Now use Water Gun!" Vaporeon fires a stream of water from his mouth and it hits Volcarona, dealing super effective damage.
"Volcarona, Take Down!" said Makoa. Volcarona flies at Vaporeon and rams him with incredible force, knocking him out; Volcarona flinches in pain from the recoil damage of Take Down.
"Vaporeon is unable to battle. Volcarona wins the match." said the official.
"Makoa's Volcarona has beaten Maxiley's Vaporeon; what will Maxiley bring out next?" asked the official.
"Boy, that's rough." said Eddy.
"You can do it, Maxiley!" said Ed.
"I believe in you!" said Sarah. Maxiley nods before returning Vaporeon to his pokeball.
"You fought hard, Vaporeon; you've earned a rest." said Maxiley. He puts Vaporeon's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Turtonator, go!" He throws Turtonator's pokeball and releases him.
"Maxiley's next Pokemon is a Turtonator." said the announcer.
"Volcarona, use Double-Edge!" said Makoa. Volcarona flies at Turtonator.
"Turtonator, use Protect!" said Maxiley. A green force field appears around Turtonator and blocks Volcarona's attack. "Now use Body Slam!" Turtonator jumps up and slams down onto Volcarona, dealing damage; Volcarona begins to twitch.
"Volcarona's paralyzed." said Edd.
"Volcarona, use Double-Edge!" said Makoa. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Volcarona from attacking.
"Turtonator, Tackle!" said Maxiley Turtonator charges at Volcarona and rams it, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"Volcarona is unable to battle. Turtonator wins the match." said the official.
"Maxiley's Turtonator has defeated Makoa's Volcarona; what Pokemon will Makoa bring out next?" asked the announcer.
"Atta boy, Maxiley!" said Eddy.
"Way to go, Maxiley!" said Sarah.
"You can do it!" said Ed. Makoa returns Volcarona to its pokeball; he frowns at it before putting it away, and pulling out another one.
"Druddigon, go!" said Makoa, throwing his Druddigon's pokeball and releasing him.
"Makoa's next Pokemon is his Druddigon; it's a battle between two Dragon types." said the announcer.
"Druddigon, Dragon Claw!" said Makoa. Druddigon charge at Turtonator while his claws glowed light blue.
"Turtonator, Iron Defense!" said Maxiley. Turtonator glows white and his body shines, raising his defense before Druddigon claws him, dealing super effective damage, but not much due to his increased defense. "Now use Dragon Pulse!" Turtonator fires a multicolored beam of energy that resembled a dragon from his mouth, and it hits Druddigon, dealing super effective damage.
"Druddigon, Night Slash!" said Makoa. Druddigon charges at Turtonator while his claws glowed light purple and it claws Turtonator, but not dealing much damage due to Turtonator's increased defense.
"Turtonator, Body Slam!" said Maxiley. Turtonator jumps up and slams down onto Druddigon, dealing damage; Turtonator rubs his chest. "Man, that Rough Skin ability's a real pain, literally."
"Druddigon, Dragon Tail!" said Makoa. Druddigon flies at Turtonator while his tail glowed light blue and hits Turtonator with it, dealing super effective damage; Turtonator returns to his pokeball.
"What happened?" asked Jimmy.
"Dragon Tail returns the Pokemon its used on to its pokeball, and another Pokemon will come out in its place." replied Edd.
"Druddigon's Dragon Tail has returned Turtonator to its pokeball; which of Maxiley's Pokemon will come out in Turtonator's place?" asked the announcer. Maxiley's pokeball opens up and his Tyranitar comes out. "And Maxiley's final Pokemon is a Tyranitar." A sandstorm appears in the arena.
"It seems Tyranitar's Sand Stream ability has activated." said Edd.
"Tyranitar, use Dark Pulse!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar fires a beam of black and purple rings of energy out of his mouth and it hits Druddigon, dealing damage, and causing him to flinch. Sand from the sandstorm hits Druddigon, damaging him.
"Now use Ice Fang!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar charges at Druddigon while ice covered his fangs and he bites Druddigon, dealing super effective damage, and knocking him out. Tyranitar rubs his mouth after receiving damage from Druddigon's Rough Skin.
"Druddigon is unable to battle. Tyranitar wins the match." said the official.
"Maxiley's Tyranitar has beaten Makoa's Druddigon; what will Makoa's final Pokemon be?" asked the announcer.
"You're doing great, Maxiley!" said Eddy.
"Just one Pokemon to go!" said Edd.
"You can do it!" said Ed. Makoa returns Druddigon to his pokeball and glares at it; he puts it away and pulls out another pokeball.
"Metagross, come out!" said Makoa, throwing a pokeball, and releasing a massive, robotic Pokemon with four legs, a pair of eyes and a metallic X over them. Edd points his pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Metagross, the Iron Leg Pokemon and the final evolved form of Beldum. It analyzes its opponents with more accuracy than a supercomputer, which enables it to calmly back them into a corner." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Metagross, use Miracle Eye!" said Makoa. Metagross' eyes glowed light blue.
"What does that move do?" asked Eddy.
"Normally, Dark type Pokemon are immune to psychic type moves; but Mircale Eye makes it that the Pokemon that uses it can use psychic type moves on Dark types." replied Edd.
"Tyranitar, use Fire Fang!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar charges at Metagross while fire covered his fangs and he bites Metagross, dealing super effective damage.
"Metagross, Zen Headbutt!" said Makoa. Metagross flies at Tyranitar while the X on its face glowed light blue and it rams into Tyranitar, dealing damage, and making him flinch. "Now use Meteor Mash!" Metagross becomes covered in a blue aura and it flies at Tyranitar with its arms out, and rams Tyranitar, dealing super effective damage.
"Tyranitar, use Payback!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar releases multiple streaks of black energy from his body and they hit Metagross, dealing massive damage due to Payback's power doubling due to Tyranitar being hit before he used it, as well as Metagross being weak against dark type moves.
"Metagross, Metal Claw!" said Makoa. Metagross flies at Tyranitar and claws him with one of its leg claws, dealing super effective damage.
"Tyranitar, use Crunch!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar runs at Metagross while his fangs glowed white and he bites Metagross with them, dealing super effective damage, and weakening Metagross' defense. Makoa raises an arm, revealing his Z-Ring and he puts the Z-Crystal he found in Haina Desert onto it.
"What Z-Crystal is that?" asked Maxiley.
"Psychium-Z." replied Makao. He begins doing poses and channels energy onto Metagross; the Z Power symbol appears in front of it.
"All right, Metagross, use Shattered Psyche!" said Makoa. An aura appears around Metagross and purple light flashes from its body; Tyranitar gets lifted up off the ring and begins bouncing off octagon-shaped barriers that appeared in mid-air, and he crashes back on the ring.
"Tyranitar; are you okay?" asked Maxiley. The smoke from the crash cleared, revealing Tyranitar, struggling to get up. "Two can play that game!" He hold up his own Z-Ring, and puts his Rockium-Z onto it. Maxiley begins doing poses and channels energy onto Tyranitar; the Z Power symbol appears in front of him.
"Tyranitar, Continental Crush!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar summons mulitple rocks out of nowhere and they form into a huge boulder; it falls towards Metagross and crashes into it, making the boulder explode, and doing moderate damage due to Metagross' weakened defense. Metagross emerges from the smoke, trembling.
"Let's finish this; Metagross, use Psychic!" said Makoa.
"Tyranitar, use Dark Pulse!" said Maxiley. Tyranitar fires a beam of black and purple rings of energy out of his mouth while Metagross fires a burst of light purple energy from its metal X; both attacks crashed into each other, creating an explosion that sends both Pokemon flying back and landing on the ring. When the explosion cleared, both Pokemon were glaring at each other; Tyranitar was breathing heavily while Metagross was trembling until it fell onto the ring with a loud thud.
"Metagross is unable to battle. Tyranitar wins. The winner of the Mask Royal Tournament is Maxiley!" said the official.
"It's over! After an intense battle, Tyranitar has defeated Metagross and winning the tournament for Maxiley!" said the announcer. Maxiley stood there with a stunned look on his face; seconds later, it was replaced with a look of joy.
"I WON!" cheered Maxiley. He runs to his exhausted Tyranitar and hugs him. "You were incredible, Tyranitar; I'm very proud of you." Tyranitar weakly smiled in response.
"He did it!" said Ed.
"Man, that was some battle." said Eddy.
"I'll say." said Sarah. Makoa returns Metagross to its pokeball.
"I guess you battled hard." said Makoa. He puts Metagross' pokeball away and walks to Maxiley; they faced each other for a few seconds until Makoa extends a hand. "That was an incredible battle."
"Thanks." replied Maxiley, shaking Makoa's hand. He then gives Maxiley pokedollars.
"Maybe we can have a rematch someday, and next time, I'll be ready." said Makoa.
"So will I." said Maxiley.
"Good luck with Mask Royal tomorrow." said Makoa. Everyone in the arena applauded.
Moments later, Maxiley stood in the middle of the ring.
"Here to present the winner's trophy is the Battle Royal champion himself; Masked Royal." said the announcer. Masked Royal walks out of a tunnel, carrying a red column trophy which had a gold statuette of Masked Royal, flexing his arms. He climbs into the ring and holds the trophy towards Maxiley; he takes the trophy.
"Congratulations on winning the tournament." said Masked Royal.
"Thank you." replied Maxiley.
"I look forward to our battle tomorrow." said Masked Royal.
"So am I." said Maxiley.
Maxiley has won the Masked Royal's tournament. Will he be able to end Masked Royal's undefeated streak? Wait and find out.
