Chapter 8- Eden Prime Continued

The Dreadnought-sized Squid ship began to ascend through the atmosphere along with the remnants of the Geth fleet it had brought with it. The now unhacked planetary defenses cut that fleet to pieces. The building-sized cannons blasted apart Geth vessels. The left-over ones are now safely in space along with their master. The army of Geth groundside was now being abandoned as they had achieved their dastardly goals. Captain Anderson was still in his element, commanding the entire 212th to combat this threat. The remaining Geth were attempting to swarm the areas of the Planet still vulnerable to their assault. Gunnery Sergeant Williams the highest-ranked member of the 212th remaining was commanding the defense of the Capital New Eden. Commander Kana Shepard, mander Naruto Shepard, and their seconds in command were doing their best to defend the Spaceport from waves of Geth now having secured it from the ones who had infiltrated it. Naruto and Lt. Ryder were liaising with Normandy and her shuttle complement to hit targets across the city while Kana was leading their desperate defense from the front, which she was known to do. Gunnery Sergeant Williams was communicating her plans of deploying her teams around the city to reform the cohesive shell they had before taking so many casualties.

POV- General Kushina Uzumaki onboard the SV Einstein

Two Fleets are prowling the dark abyss of space surrounding the Relay. 1x Human Carrier, 3x Cruisers, 10x Frigates, and a Wolfpack of 6 Corvettes. Saddled alongside them was the Turian Fleet led by a Dreadnought, a Pair of Battleships, and 10x Frigates. Kushina and Admiral Victus of the Turian Navy are in a discussion via Holo-call, Kushina sighs, " That Squid is leaving the atmosphere. Even the estimates via scans didn't do him justice, the ship is certainly Dreadnought Class and even then pushing it to its extremes."

Admiral Victus notes, " It's escort fleet, at least what remains of it are coming out as well. They are leaving their combat frames, zombies, and Mercenaries behind."

The Admiral asks," How about we forward deploy the escort fleets to engage the Geth and we build up power to overcharge the MACs. The beam that thing projects is nasty, sensors and VI analysis show it being a jet of molten material shot out at the speed of a Railgun. We can guess when it is going to shoot via the power buildup to fire it."

Kushina, " I don't have much of a better idea, other than maybe have our Corvettes flank out to either surprise our foes and also make sure we aren't flanked by those Fighter craft they have."

A Few Minutes later…

The remaining Geth ships engage the now forward-deployed escort fleets. While not many of the Geth ships were made for brawling with other Capital vessels, they were giving as good as they got. A pair of Geth cruiser-sized ships were attempting to make a hole for the Squid ship by focusing fire on the Turian Battleship blocking their way. They were cracked open and floated away as they took shots from the Battleship. But coming up behind them was the squid-shaped vessel. It fired its beam as it rammed through a Turian Frigate breaking it in half and cutting a beam through the wings of the Turian capital ship. Its speed doubles as it flies past. Both the Einstein and the Turian Dreadnought were holding on the Starboard side of the Relay, giving it access in a direction they could predict. The two had planned on it going in that direction due to the haste it had been making for the Relay. It did as they predicted and the Pair of Overcharged MACs fired along with the hundred missiles coming out of the missile pods on both ships. It shoots out a beam of Molten metal at the Einstein breaking through its shield and making a line on its Port side feet deep with a glancing shot.

The missiles crash into the heavy shields of the Squid, the first Railgun shot from the Einstein manages to crack the shields on it, and the second shot from the Turian ship flashes through one of its many tentacles and ends in a beam projector slicing it off. The other two shots from both ships crash into the heavy plating on the Squid putting craters meters deep into it. One near the "eye" of the vessel and the other in the heavily armored top section. A deep voice calls over the communication systems of the two ships, " I will remember this insult when the Harvest begins. My minions will hound you until I can kill you myself."

The Relay accepts the Squid and launches him into the night. The sensors clock his speed as double any speed seen out of the Relays until this point Kushina says while putting out a fire on the bridge, " Signals did you capture the Signal sent to the relay? "

The Officer at the nearby console on her right says, " Partially ma'am, I was in the Relay systems when the Squid launched. I was locked out as it connected, most likely some kind of override. We only got part of it, at least the response. It said back, " As the Master's Will" in the language, the Relay's code is written in. "

Kushina says, " Send that to Admiral Victus. It seems like our enemies may have compromised the Relays in some way. And earmark a copy to be sent to the Admiralty as well."

She sits down in her chair and begins typing up a message as the battle finishes, the remaining Geth vessels dying in the void.

So the conflict here in Eden Prime is scaling down, just finished the Space portion so all that remains is the troops on the ground. Our enemies have compromised the Relays in some way, some kind of master override most likely. So our guess was right in that they were left as a trap. Those hints that Amy dropped a couple of times came in handy. Your idea of them being a tech trap to make civilization's technology go one way is looking more likely, loop in Ryder Senior and accelerate our plans there. Also, move up the research grants for those guys working on FTL technology. The Fleets are moving into orbit now so we should have Eden Prime secured by the end of the day. Will let you know when on the way home.

POV- Naruto

Naruto is sitting aboard the Command Mako which had just been pulled into the cargo area near the Train Station he was staring at the hologram of the spaceport and the surrounding wilderness. Small trenchlines and foxholes were shown on the map at various points and buildings filled with the Normandy's Marines and whoever they could find nearby were labeled. Kana and her team with Kaiden and another Marine named Jenkins were holding in a building in the train station. A platoon of marines was holding the train station as well, and along with them was the Heavy weapons team from the Normandy, with their heavy machine gun turrets they were helping hold off the Geth quite well. Two Squads were holding the actual Spaceport along with an Engineering attachment from the 212th securing the bombs left by the Geth.

Naruto says into the comm as he watches a big group of Krogan Mercenaries charge across a field," Gunny you have a wave coming at the residential district. Raptor 1-1 can you assist with a strike Package?"

Lt. Sorhyu calls back over the comm, " Yes sir, I've got my last two missiles and the Cannons, after I pop those Armature classes ill have to RTB."

Gunny Williams says quickly with gunshots in the background," Commander Shepard, a group of civvies is on the way to you, one of my squads found them hiding in a building."

Kana responds," Tell them to redirect to the South and come up over the hill. A group of Geth Troopers are engaging us right now."

In the distance, Naruto sees the red-painted shuttle blaze through the sky with its Cannons firing and its final pair of missiles launching and after tracking for a moment impact on something in the distance and explode. Naruto looks at the map after it updates from the sensors on the shuttle. He says to the Lt flying, " Great strike, two Armatures dead and damage done to those Krogan will slow them down, go get what you need to be done at the Carrier they should have a slot open by the time you get there."

Naruto looks over the battlefield again and is now pointing at a hill half a kilometer from the Train Station,he marks it in the command interface as he calls over the Command frequency," Admiral Victus can you deploy your troops here, you should be able to flank this Company of Geth , we have a two Squad element there that can secure a landing zone. And if you wait till they hit our defenses we can squish them between us."

Admiral Victus calmly answers," Roger that, my Marines are dropping now. We have a wave of shuttles inbound. The Fleet is in position, give us locations and call for support."

Naruto pulls his pistol out of his holster and domes the Geth Trooper that had just walked up the ramp of the Mako, " Sara, troopers are getting through, close up our lines. And call for support the fleets here."

He walks down the ramp and into an alleyway nearby, he does a cross sign and spawns two squads of Clones , " Henge and salvage all you can. You know what we need and why get to it. "

He walks out and sees a middle-aged woman in the blue armor of the Marine Corps with a Sergeant patch on her breastplate waiting, " Sgt. Bhatia sir, my squad just got patched up where do you want us ?"

He responds, " Well I just had to kill a trooper who snuck into the Mako so if you could find the hole and plug it that would be great, check in with Lt. Ryder she should have an idea. "

She salutes and as she does turn around she jumps in the way of a pair of shots that then goes through her side and shoulder. Her squad opens fire on the team of Troopers who had snuck up on them, Naruto shoots the Infiltrator that had shot from the overhang of the building behind them. Naruto kneels and begins first aid. Sgt Bhatia says as she coughs blood," Well I was all healed up don't know if I'll make it to the aid tent again"

Naruto says while his hand begins to glow green, " I got you just stay awake, you saved my ass so I can't let you go without returning the favor. "

Her wounds begin to close up and she stops coughing, " What are you doing over there Commander, didn't know medi-gel could heal that quickly."

Naruto, " I've picked up a thing or two, alright you should be fine, but you're probably going to pass out here in a sec. I'll have one of your men run you back to the aid tent and you'll have a long leave waiting for you on the other side. Wounded in combat twice in one day I think deserves a reward."

As he says that she does indeed pass out, he calls over one of her soldiers, " Take her back to the aid station and return to your new positions we still got a bit of this fight left."

Time Skip No Jutsu- 2 Hours later

Naruto, Kana, Nihlus, and Captain Anderson along with a Marine Squad from the Normandy are assembled at the Spaceport around the beacon using a small crane to move it. Gunny Williams appears with a second squad, she calls out as she gets closer," Sir reporting as called to help secure the Beacon."

As she finishes saying that she steps over the artificial threshold the Beacon has and she begins to float, Naruto being the fastest manages to throw her away but gets grabbed by the field it's emitting, he gets grabbed by Kana who also then gets grabbed. Nihlus comes in trying to help as well and also gets tied up in the field and finally, Captain Anderson tries as well but gets swept up. Now this whole group of people is attached like a congo line to the Beacon and it flashes all of them float in place to touch the Beacon.

A moment later, the light explodes and throws the whole group away from the now exploding last thing this erstwhile group hears as they all pass out is Gunnery Sergeant Williams calling over the Comm, " Lt, get your Shuttle over here we have a Mass Casualty situation, All the officers and the Spectre are down. I repeat they are down, land on my position. Guys get them on stretchers. "

Authors Note- Hello All, a short and sweet chapter to start us back off, don't know if you noticed but I have gone back and edited all the chapters to my new standard via Grammarly, honestly a lifesaver. Hope you have been well. So some new developments here, Sovereign got shot, the geth fleet took losses, and Saren's forces took major losses. And on the character side of things Nihlus is alive, new knowledge has been gained about the emerging threat and plans are in motion. And oh hey more people can have horrible nightmares of HP Lovecraft's wet dreams woohoo. Well, tell me what you think, and sorry if the last bit was a little goofy I kind of want to explore what if more characters got the crazy Beacon info drop could be interesting or go nowhere guess we will have to see.
