It was a nice morning in Gwen's palace in Heaven and Gwen along with Clarence were both sleeping peacefully. Clarence gets up and gets ready for the day with the servant's help. Gwen soon follows as her servants help her get ready for another day.
The couple join the three cups downstairs to the dining room for breakfast as the servants served them platters of food.
"Good morning, everyone." Gwen greeted.
"Good morning Gweny!" All three cups greeted.
Clarence gave Gwen a kiss.
"How are you feeling today?" Gwen asked.
"Pretty good. I feel like going for a swim. You don't mind if I use your big pool?" Clarence asked.
"Honey, my palace is your palace." Gwen reminded him.
"Thanks love." Clarence thanked.
After breakfast, Clarence dresses in his swimwear and goes swimming in the grand swimming pool for a while.
Meanwhile, Gwen and the cups go about their usual morning. Gwen starts working on her schoolwork for college and the cups were playing marbles together. Clarence finishes swimming and takes a shower and joins the gang.
"So, what are you guys doing today?" Clarence asked.
"We're doin' it." Cuphead answered.
"Yeah, what else can we do?" Mugman added.
"I don't suppose you have an idea handsome?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Well, if the Devil's not looking for us and is still in his ER, perhaps we should go somewhere new." Clarence suggested.
"Clarence, you know the Devil's hunting for us. He thinks we're on the run to various states and countries around the world and I wanna keep it that way." Gwen said.
"Well, let's make sure he's still in his ER." Clarence said.
Gwen sighed then set her homework aside and went up to the reflecting pool with Clarence joining her.
"Show me the Devil." Gwen ordered.
The reflecting pool glowed, and it showed the Devil sleeping in his bed with a pink sleeping mask on.
"He sleeps with a pink mask on?" Clarence said then laughed.
The cups join the humans and look in the reflecting pool. They laughed at the Devil until he suddenly waked up breathing heavily. The cups stop laughing and watched the Devil wake up. The Devil caught his breath and held his head in his hand.
"Ugh. Stupid nightmare. I'll get that girl and those stupid cups. And that idiot boy too!" The Devil grumbled.
"Yeah, when pigs fly!" Cuphead taunted then blew a raspberry at him.
"Ugh. Since I'm awake, might as well make my rounds." The Devil said tiredly and got out of bed.
The group watched as the Devil did his morning routine and went to his throne and sat in his throne. He summoned his magic mirror.
"Show me where the girl and her stupid friends are hiding this time." The Devil demanded.
Gwen felt her heartbeat fast as Clarence held her. The lead servant approached her.
"It's alright milady. Do not panic." The lead servant assured her.
They watched and noticed the magic mirror frizzing up. The Devil groaned in agony.
"Why isn't this stupid thing working?! It worked before and that's how I found them in Alaska with that dumb hunter girl! It doesn't make any sense!" The Devil yelled.
Gwen sighed of relief.
"Wow. You were right. He can't find us here." Gwen admitted.
The lead servant bowed to her.
"I must remind you he did find you and your special ones in Alaska with that girl you aided in her journey. You were lucky in Texas but if you go somewhere again, he could check his mirror again and find you wherever you are and strike again." The lead servant reminded her.
"I know. I recall the last encounter now that he knows we're on the run." Gwen said.
"Even if he does find us, he'll think we're hiding somewhere else and go find another place to hide. You know, to keep him from finding this place?" Cuphead pointed out.
"But it would be a matter of time before he figures out your pattern and will investigate further until he finds out you are all hiding and living here." The lead servant countered.
"She does have a point." Mugman agreed.
"Guys, we need to stay put. We can't take any more chances. We'll have to stay here and make the best of it." Gwen said, out of options.
The group sighed then returned to their usual routine. Clarence looked out the window and looked at the surrounding clouds. Gwen joins him at the window.
"Feeling cooped up here?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah, a little." Clarence admitted.
Gwen looked outside the window looking at the clouds.
"Where did you wanna go this time?" Gwen asked.
"I was thinking…" Clarence said as he pulled up another picture.
Gwen looked and noticed it was a sunny beach and hula girls.
"Oh, Hawaii. I've always wanted to see those islands too." Gwen admitted.
"Yeah. Maybe we could just go for a day of fun? We could go to the beach, snorkeling, hula dancing, go to a luau for dinner. It'd be just like our Caribbean Cruise where I first proposed to you." Clarence asked.
"Yeah, that was a heartwarming moment." Gwen said, remembering the memory.
"I knew I made the right choice with you." Clarence said, holding her.
"Well, I suppose we could do one day of fun in Hawaii." Gwen said, changing her mind.
"Oh, thank you love. We'll come home tonight." Clarence said, hugging her.
The cups immediately gathered around Gwen.
"You guys eavesdropped again, didn't you?" Gwen asked, knowing the answer.
"We wanna hit the beach!" Cuphead said excitedly.
"I've been meaning to get a tan." Mugman said.
They all stared at Mugman.
"You dumdum! You're a porcelain cup! You don't get tan!" Ms. Chalice scolded.
Gwen and Clarence laughed.
"Knock it off guys. Let's go." Gwen said, stopping the fight.
The cups gathered around Gwen. She tapped her ink pen, and they disappeared. They appear on a sunny and sandy beach where the sun was shining, and the water was nice.
"Neat! Sunny beach!" Cuphead complimented.
"Welcome to Hawaii guys." Gwen greeted.
"Hawaii. This is really nice." Mugman complimented.
"Aloha." Clarence said.
"What's aloha?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"It's the Hawaiian way of saying 'hello'." Clarence explained.
"Aloha!" All three cups exclaimed.
"Alright guys, are you ready for a day of fun?" Gwen asked.
"Day of fun!" All three cups cheered.
Gwen magically changes everyone's clothes into beachwear. The cups jump in the water and play games. Gwen and Clarence settle on the beach in the sun and held hands and drank cold lemonade.
"Thanks love. We needed to get out of the palace. I don't mean any offense." Clarence said.
"None taken. Even I get bored in that big place too." Gwen admitted.
"Well, whatever happens, we'll face it together." Clarence said.
"Always. And we grow stronger because of them." Gwen added.
The humans later join the cups in the ocean to cool off from the sun. Gwen gets an idea and shapeshifts into her mermaid form.
"Honey, what did you do?" Clarence asked.
Gwen smiled smugly and raised her red tailfin out of the water.
"Woah! You can turn into a mermaid?" Clarence asked, amazed.
"If I can turn into a ghost, I can turn into a mermaid." Gwen answered as she slapped her tailfin, splashing him.
"Can I try that?" Clarence asked.
Gwen raised her ink pen and magically turned Clarence's legs into a blue tailfin. He fell into the water, unable to stand anymore. He grabbed the fishtail in shock.
"Oh, my goodness! I'm a merman!" Clarence exclaimed.
"That's right honey. In fact, didn't you once said what you look like as a merman next time when go to the beach?" Gwen reminded him.
Clarence's face showed realization and smiled as he looked at his new tail.
"Oh yeah, I did say that once after our ghost date night before we get married." Clarence said.
A pleasant grin appeared on Gwen's face.
"That's right. But this time, that's all coming true; you will be having the opportunity of diving and exploring under the sea as a merman, just like me and Rose did. Trust me, you'll love it. Wanna check out the coral reefs?" Gwen asked.
"I'd love to." Clarence answered.
"Hey! We wanna be mermaids too!" Ms. Chalice whined.
"Oh fine. Ms. Bossy." Gwen said as Ms. Chalice smirked.
Gwen transforms her friend's legs into fishtails.
"This, being a mermaid, or Mer-cup in this case, is the best dang thing I've ever been as!" Ms Chalice exclaimed with a big smile as she checked out her new seafoam green fishtail.
"Holy mackerel Mugsy! We're now part mackerel!" Cuphead exclaimed in surprise and joy as he took a good look at his new red fishtail where his legs used to be.
"Don't really know if we's part mackerel Cuphead, but I get what you mean." Mugman acknowledged as he raised his new light blue fishtail, wiggling his fins.
"Ready guys?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah!" All three cups exclaimed.
"Then follow me!" Gwen instructed.
Gwen and Clarence swim underwater as the cups followed. They swam up to the corals and are awed with the sights of schools of fish and exotic sea life.
"Very colorful down here." Cuphead said.
"Yes. This is the fish's home." Gwen said.
"Hey look! Turtles!" Mugman said, pointing.
The group looked and noticed a pod of sea turtles swimming by. Ms. Chalice swims after the sea turtles, getting a closer look.
"Aw, look at their fins." Ms. Chalice said.
"And their shells." Cuphead added.
"And their sweet faces." Mugman said, getting too close in a sea turtle's face.
"Uh, I wouldn't do that if I were you." Gwen warned.
Suddenly, the sea turtle bites Mugman's nose.
"YEEEOOOOWWW!" Mugman yelled in pain, struggling to get his nose free.
"Hang on." Clarence said.
He swims up to the sea turtle and pets it gently on the head until it releases Mugman's nose and quickly swims away so Gwen could heal his nose. Clarence kept petting the sea turtle until it finally swims away with the rest of the pod.
"Wow." Clarence said, awestruck.
"I think we've seen enough." Mugman said, holding his nose.
The group swim back to the surface then Gwen transformed themselves back to their normal forms and regain their legs.
They swim back to the beach and dry off. Gwen summons Cerulean Bolt, the group hops on and flies off to explore the islands. They fly to the big island of Hawaii where there were volcanoes.
"Wow, volcanos." Cuphead said.
"Yep, welcome to Volcanoes National Park." Gwen said.
"Beautiful. When they're not erupting." Clarence said.
"No kidding." Mugman agreed.
They continue flying over the islands Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai. Taking in the beautiful sights of forests, beaches and mountains.
After flying over the islands, they decide to grab lunch in Honolulu on Oahu. They eat at local restraint and dine on manapua (pork dumplings) with saimin (noodle soup) and malasadas (no hole donuts) for dessert.
"This is what I call a perfect day." Cuphead said, feeling stuffed.
"I couldn't agree more." Ms. Chalice agreed as she sipped pineapple juice.
"We'll have to come back here. It's just as nice as the Caribbean Islands." Mugman suggested as he ate a malasada.
"Thanks for doing this, Gwen. It's made all of us happy." Clarence thanked.
"Anything for you guys. You all make me happy." Gwen said.
After paying the tab, the group walk around Honolulu to explore. They come across a gift shop and buy some cute souvenirs such as miniature hula dancer bobbles, a bag of macadamia nuts, fake flower leis and miniature wooden carvings of Maui's fishhook.
They leave the gift shop and go get some snow cones as a treat.
"That hit the spot." Cuphead said, licking his snow cone.
"I'll eat to that." Mugman agreed.
Mugman ate his snow cone in one bite.
"OWWW!" Mugman cried in pain.
"Brain freeze again?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Never learns." Clarence said.
"That's my little brother." Gwen said.
They head to a local beach and sit in the sun.
"So, what do you wanna do later?" Gwen asked.
"I heard there's a hula dancing contest at that nearby luau. We should enter for fun." Clarence suggested.
"Great idea dear. You can show off your dancing." Gwen said and both kissed.
"Perfect. I wanna show those hula girls what dancing's all about." Ms. Chalice agreed.
"Yeah. What could go wrong?" Mugman asked.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a young long black-haired Hawaiian native teenage girl was running from a group of teenage men who looked dangerous.
"What's going on over there?" Cuphead asked.
The group looked and realized someone was in trouble.
"Oh no! They're gangsters!" Clarence exclaimed.
"How do you know that?" Gwen asked.
"I was on the streets for 2 years. I know street criminals when I see them. Especially the ones with guns." Clarence answered.
"We gotta do something! They look like they're gonna hurt her." Mugman said worryingly.
"Not to worry fellas. I got an idea." Gwen assured them as she took off her silver bracelet.
"You always do girlfriend." Ms. Chalice said with a wink.
"Just watch the show." Gwen said.
Their eyes focused on the gangsters. Their muscular leader fearfully grabbed the girl and pulled toward him.
"You don't break up with me! You are mine forever! I can have any girl I want!" The gang leader yelled.
"No! We're done! Not only did you cheat on me, but you're also a monster!" The girl yelled.
"Guys, let's show her what happens when she doesn't obey me!" The gang leader said.
The gangsters prepare to hurt the girl when out of nowhere, an earthquake started shaking from underneath them, knocking the gangsters over, giving the girl enough time to make her escape.
"What was that?" The gang leader asked, standing up.
Next Gwen placed her hand on the ground, making the earth beneath them start to sink.
"Sinkhole!" One gangster yelled.
"Run for it!" Another gangster yelled.
The gangsters desperately run away as the sinkhole started growing bigger until they were far away. Not before Gwen finishes with a rain of lava balls hurling towards them, burning a several gangsters.
The cups were laughing and rolling on the sand. Gwen stood up and bowed like after a performance
.
"Thank you, thank you very much." Gwen thanked with pride.
"That was awesome honey! You scared those jerks to pieces!" Clarence said as he held up his fiancée and spun her around.
"Thanks. They're lucky I didn't use the other discovered elements metal and energy I didn't know I had like the lava. Or worse, my celestial powers." Gwen said with a smirk.
Gwen puts her silver bracelet back on.
"Now, where were we?" Clarence said.
"Beach time." Gwen answered.
The cups start to bury each other in the sand while Gwen and Clarence sat together enjoying the view. Gwen starts to doze off on her beach towel and takes a nap while Clarence went for a swim in the ocean.
Some time later, she feels someone nudging her arm, but she brushed it off. She felt someone tickle her feet.
"Cuphead, knock it off." Gwen said in her sleep.
Finally, she feels someone cover her mouth and pinched her nose until Gwen couldn't breathe. After a few seconds, Gwen gasped for air and stood up awake as she tried catching her breath.
"About time you woke up." An unfamiliar female voice said.
Gwen sternly looked and noticed it was the Hawaiian native teenage girl she saved earlier.
"What do you want?" Gwen asked impatiently.
The girl sat down next to Gwen.
"That was you who saved me." The girl revealed.
Gwen was shocked.
"What are you talking about? I was over here with my fiancé and my friends." Gwen denied.
"No, I saw that you were watching me. After that earthquake, I ran off then I saw you unleashing some powers of some kind from your hands." The girl continued.
"And what makes you think I could be capable of that?" Gwen continued denying it.
The girl pointed at the silver bracelet, making Gwen sigh.
"What does it matter? I saved your life. You're free to go home." Gwen said, losing the argument.
"I would if I could, but I can't. Na Daimonio will find me. They will find me at my usual places.
"Na Daimonio?" Gwen asked confused.
"'Ae. That's the name of the gang you saw earlier and scared off. It means 'the demons.'" The girl answered.
"Who was their leader who threatened you?" Gwen asked.
The girl sighed.
"He's my ex-boyfriend, Makoa. Not only is he their leader, he's dominant, dangerous, entitled and selfish." The girl explained.
"Bad choice of men?" Gwen asked.
"'Ae. I feel so lapuwale." The girl said, feeling guilty.
"Well, I hope you learned your lesson about choosing your friends carefully." Gwen advised.
The girl scooted closer to Gwen.
"What is your name?" The girl asked.
"Gwendolyn Mae Emmons. Call me Gwen." Gwen introduced herself.
"Aloha. I am Maile Alika." Maile introduced herself.
"I'll just ask since you won't leave me alone, what do you want from me?" Gwen asked.
"I want to stay with you. No one has ever saved me, so I want to be safe with you Gwen." Maile answered.
"What about your parents? Can't they help you?" Gwen asked.
Maile gave a sad look.
"Oh, you don't have any…?" Gwen was about to ask.
"I've been in foster care bouncing from home to home for many years since my alcoholic father was put in prison since he unintentionally killed my mother. I could never find one to stick with or a family to be part of." Maile sadly revealed her past.
"Oh. I'm so sorry Maile." Gwen showed sympathy.
"Mahalo." Maile thanked.
"Is that why you were dating that monster?" Gwen asked.
Maile turned away, hinting her answer.
"Oh. Sorry I asked." Gwen apologized.
"No, it's okay. After I started dating Makoa, I felt like I was finally part of a group, an ohana." Maile continued.
"Oh, family." Gwen said, figuring it out.
"Things were good at first but then I started to see his true nature. A villainous, manipulative, irredeemable monster." Maile said with a few tears.
"You mentioned something about him cheating on you?" Gwen asked.
"Yes, when I saw him with that hussy, that was the final straw. I told him we were done forever, and I left him and… well you know the rest." Maile finished her story.
Gwen's heart sank at her backstory.
"Please Gwen, let me stay with you. I don't feel safe anywhere but with you because you are the first person to show me kindness even though you tried to hide it." Maile begged.
Gwen sighed, unsure about the situation. Just then, she noticed Clarence standing there.
"Clarence!" Gwen exclaimed.
She quickly stood up.
"I-I-I-I can explain." Gwen said nervously.
Clarence raised his hand, cutting her off.
"I've heard enough. Poor Maile." Clarence said.
Gwen sighed, then gestured to talk privately.
"Excuse us." Gwen said to Maile.
The couple walked away to avoid being heard.
"I'm so sorry Clarence, she just appeared out of nowhere, she knows about my magic and powers and now she wants my protection since she has no one to help her." Gwen explained.
"Gwen, I know what she's going through. I was alone and, on the streets, too." Clarence said being empathetic.
"What should we do?" Gwen asked.
Clarence looked at Maile.
"I think we should let her hang with us and figure out where we could place her for protection in the meantime." Clarence suggested.
"Hmm." Gwen said thinking.
Gwen looked at Maile sitting on her towel.
"Alright, but as long as she doesn't give us trouble." Gwen reluctantly agreed.
"I'll help think of something." Clarence said.
The cups approached the couple.
"How long were you guys eavesdropping?" Gwen asked.
"Long enough." Cuphead answered.
"I don't mind her sticking around. She's not the first." Mugman said.
"Yeah, we orphans gotta stick together." Ms. Chalice said.
The group approached Maile as she stood in shock at the cups.
"Kīʻaha!" Maile exclaimed.
"Huh?" Both cups asked.
"Cups." Maile translated.
"These are my best friends Cuphead, Mugman and Ms. Chalice." Gwen introduced as they waved.
"Aloha!" All three greeted.
"Aloha kīʻaha." Maile shyly greeted.
"Anyway, we'll let you tag along until we figure something out." Gwen said.
Maile quickly got up and hugged Gwen.
"Oh, mahalo Gwen! You will not regret this!" Maile thanked.
"But you gotta do exactly as I tell you to do, okay?" Gwen asked.
"'Ae. I promise." Maile promised.
"In that case, let's head to the luau for dinner. Plus, the hula contest." Clarence suggested.
The group head to the luau and get themselves a table. They order garlic shrimp, huli huli chicken, loco moco, kalua pig and Hawaiian hot dogs for dinner and shaved ice for dessert.
Gwen and Clarence notice Maile eating like she hasn't eaten in sometime.
"Uh, Maile? Were you starving?" Clarence asked.
Maile looked up and wiped her face with a napkin.
"'Ae, after I left Makoa, I had to fend for myself trying what I can to stay alive. I barely had enough to eat." Maile answered then continued eating.
Clarence's heart sank, knowing how she felt since he was once homeless.
"Oh dear." Gwen said, feeling terrible.
Gwen thinks for a moment and gets an idea.
Just then, an announcer appeared on the stage.
"Aloha folks! It is time for the hula contest! Anyone who thinks they got what it takes should come up, put on the grass skirts and show us what you got!" The announcer spoke.
"Oh, let's get up there guys!" Cuphead said excitedly.
The group gets up and join other people and put on grass skirts. A local Hawaiian band starts playing Hawaiian music and people start dancing on the stage. The group started hula dancing as Maile joins them and performed beautiful hula dancing.
"Wow, you're good at hula dancing." Gwen complimented.
"I took lessons since childhood." Maile said.
Maile continued dancing as more people started to notice her. Gwen quietly slips away and summons Magic Telephone to make a phone call.
After the dance, everyone applauds the contestants.
"Alright folks, our judges have picked this week's winner!" The announcer said.
The people in the audience wait eagerly as Gwen rejoins the group.
"Where were you?" Clarence quietly asked.
"I'll explain later." Gwen quietly answered.
"This week's winner is…" The announcer said as he turned to the contestants, took Maile's hand and took her to the microphone.
"What is your name?" The announcer quietly asked.
"Maile Alika." Maile quietly answered.
"Maile Alika!" The announcer announced as the audience cheered.
Two waitresses dressed as hulas give Maile a real lei and a trophy shaped like a hula dancer as everyone cheered.
Maile smiled as her new friends cheered her on.
Later, the group leave the luau.
"That was great!" Cuphead said.
"The food was amazing." Mugman added.
"And the dancing was awesome." Ms. Chalice finished.
"I haven't had this much fun in a long time." Maile admitted.
"It's nice to see you smiling." Clarence said.
"Yeah, you've really been through a lot." Gwen added.
Maile joins the cups and sit on a bench while Gwen and Clarence discuss something privately.
"So, you called her, and she agreed to help Maile and take her in?" Clarence asked.
"Of course she's agreed. Besides the others want to see us since we've been in hiding. So, after the cups go to bed, we'll take Maile over there for the meeting tonight." Gwen explained.
"Cordelia knows what she's doing." Clarence said.
The couple rejoin the cups and Maile.
"Okay, here's the deal. We'll head to our top-secret home and then Maile, we're gonna take you somewhere very secret where we have friends who will take you in and keep you safe." Gwen announced.
"Really?" Maile asked eagerly.
"Yes, but before we go, I need you to promise me you will keep where we're going a secret. Aside from my powers, the magic you're about to witness, no one and I mean no one can ever know about. And the place we're going too." Gwen wanted Maile to promise.
"Hoʻohiki wau." Maile promised in Hawaiian and bowed.
"Wonderful, now let's get going." Gwen said.
The group gathers around Gwen. But before Gwen could teleport back to the palace in Heaven, they hear gun cocking sounds. The nervously turned and realize too late they are surrounded by Na Daimonio and their leader Makoa.
"They're back!" Cuphead exclaimed as the cups held Gwen's legs.
"No!" Maile exclaimed.
Makoa approaches Maile and angrily grabs her arm as Gwen discreetly removes her silver bracelet.
"Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but I'm taking away what's mine!" Makoa angrily said.
"You won't be taking anyone. She's not a possession and she doesn't belong to you!" Gwen bravely stood up.
Makoa points a gun at Gwen's head.
"You dare to stand up to me you lapuwale?!" Makoa yelled.
"Hey, nitwit. You don't get to talk to her that way." Clarence bravely insulted.
Another gangster pointed his gun at Clarence's head.
"Oh, can't I? I can talk to women however I want! And the same goes for yours!" Makoa yelled in his face.
Gwen raised her hands in the air.
"Oh, by the way, I'm sorry." Gwen pretended to apologize.
"It is too late for apologies! You will all die where you stand!" Makoa yelled as he prepared to kill Gwen.
"No, I mean I'm sorry… for what's about to happen to you." Gwen warned.
Makoa prepared to pull the trigger. But before he could, Gwen blasts the gangsters with her energy element. Gwen grabs Maile and the group make a run for it. After regaining his eyesight, Makoa and his gang run after them, shooting their guns.
"After them!" Makoa yelled.
The group runs down an alleyway near a large dumpster. Gwen has her friends hide behind it.
"No matter what happens, stay down!" Gwen instructed.
"Gwen no!" Clarence protested as Gwen runs off.
Suddenly Gwen is cornered by Maoka and his gang with their guns pointed at her. Gwen folded her arms, not intimidated.
"You guys give up or you guys want more?" Gwen asked.
"This ends now! You cannot protect that miserable weakling! She's mine!" Makoa yelled.
Makoa storms at Gwen and fires a bullet at her. But to his horror, she transformed into her celestial form, scaring the other gangsters. Gwen calmly reveals the bullet in her fingers and drops it. He tries to punch her, but she quickly grabbed his fist stopping him.
"You have just made a very big mistake Makoa. You messed with the wrong girl." Gwen said with anger in her tone.
Her hand turned metal as he started yelling in pain until she heard a crack in his bones. She gripped his broken hand and used her great strength and threw him away from her.
"Kill her!" Makoa yelled.
All the gangsters shoot at Gwen, but the bullets deflect off her until they ran out of bullets with her metal hands.
"Looks like you boys are out of bullets." Gwen taunted as her body started glowing brighter, making them scared except for Makoa.
Makoa grabs a knife from his pocket and prepared to stab Gwen. But as he charged at her, she suddenly made an explosion, blowing Makoa and his gang away, slamming them into the brick walls of the surrounding buildings.
Gwen caught her breath as she transformed back to her normal self. She walked to the dumpster as the cups and jumped on Gwen and hugged her.
"That was awesome Gweny!" Cuphead complimented.
"You really socked it to them!" Mugman added.
"Mahalo guys." Gwen thanked.
Ms. Chaliced noticed a gangster waking up.
"I got this one!" Ms. Chalice said as she turned into her ghost form.
"ʻUhane!" Maile exclaimed.
"It's okay Maile. She has ghost powers." Clarence assured her.
Ms. Chalice possesses the waking gangster's body; makes him lift a wooden stick and hits himself in the head as she quickly exited his body. Ms. Chalice rejoined the group and shapeshifted into her living form.
"Nice job Chalice!" Cuphead complimented.
"Aw, it was nothin'." Ms. Chalice bragged.
"Wow, you people are full of surprises." Maile said impressed.
"We get that a lot." Gwen said.
Suddenly out of nowhere, Makoa tries to make one final move on Maile until suddenly, he was stopped and was in pain.
"What's happening to him?" Mugman asked.
It is revealed that Makoa was stabbed with his own knife in the back.
"Oh!" Maile cried.
"Don't look!" Clarence exclaimed as she buried her head in his chest.
"I didn't do that." Gwen said, noticing the knife as he dropped to the ground dead.
"But who did it?" Mugman asked.
"That would be… me." A familiar voice said in the shadows.
"No, not now!" Gwen groaned, knowing exactly who it was.
The Devil came out from out of the shadows with an evil smile.
"AH! THE DEVIL!" Both cups exclaimed.
"Hawaiian vacation gone wrong huh?" The Devil asked tauntingly.
Maile gasped in horror.
"Ka Diabolo!" Maile exclaimed in Hawaiian.
The Devil looked at Maile.
"Ah, the ex-girlfriend of that lowlife parasite." The Devil said as he held up a folder.
"Here we go again." Gwen said under her breath.
"Ooh! What's this? Lost your mother to your alcoholic abusive father and now he's spending the rest of his life in prison. You were put in various foster homes which none of them worked out. So, you turned to dating a lowlife gang leader until he started abusing you and cheated on you." The Devil revealed.
Maile was wide-eyed at what the Devil knew.
"You poor little thing. You really think my chosen bride is gonna protect you?" The Devil asked.
"What are you talking about? She's engaged to him." Maile pointed out.
"I know. But that will change soon when I marry her. I claimed her first!" The Devil yelled.
"Are you that delusional you nitwit?!" Clarence snapped.
The Devil gasped in shock at Clarence as he got in his face.
"Gwen doesn't love you, nor will she ever love you like you don't even love her at all! You only love her for the magic inkwell, celestial and element powers just so you can bring on your stupid Armageddon! You only treat her like a prize, not a person!" Clarence insulted.
The Devil's mouth hung down in shock at Clarence's bravery. Clarence walked back to the group.
"Let's go. Let's find another place to hide." Clarence suggested and winked.
Gwen nodded as the group begin to walk away.
"You can't run and hide from me forever!" The Devil called as he ran up to Gwen.
Gwen turned and looked at the Devil.
"I can and I will." Gwen said.
"No, you can't!" The Devil argued.
"Yes, I can." Gwen argued.
"No, you can't!" The Devil argued.
"Yes, I can." Gwen argued.
"No, you can't!" The Devil argued.
"No, I can't!" Gwen reversed her argument.
"Yes, you can!" The Devil yelled.
"No, I can't!" Gwen argued.
"Yes, you can!" The Devil yelled.
"No, I can't!" Gwen argued.
"Yes, you can, and I can't stop you!" The Devil finally delivered.
The cups snickered at Gwen's trick. Gwen shrugged and walked away.
"Alright, if that's the case, you win. We'll go now. Bye." Gwen said calmly as she teleported themselves out of Hawaii.
"Ha! I showed her! Of course, she can run and hi…" The Devil boasted until he realized too late, she tricked him yet again.
The Devil roared furiously and blew another fiery tantrum. The Devil tried to teleport after Gwen, but his pitchfork wouldn't work. He tries frustratingly until he finally gives up. After he caught his breath, he slumped against the brick wall.
"I need a vacation." The Devil grumbled.
Just then, his elevator appeared from a fiery portal underground. Henchman opened the door.
"Duh, there you are boss! What are you doing here?" Henchman asked.
"I need a vacation." The Devil sadly answered.
"Oh boy! We're going on vacation! Hang on!" Henchman said excitedly and quickly used the elevator to return to Hell.
A minute later, Henchman returns with suitcases, and he is wearing a Hawaiian shirt, sunhat and sunglasses.
"Let's go boss! I'll get us a hotel room and we'll check in!" Henchman said excitedly.
