Hiruzen, carrying the unconscious Naruto gently in his arms, made his way towards the Konoha Hospital. He was followed closely by the other Kage, their expressions a mixture of concern and respect. Instead of utilizing his Body Flicker technique, Hiruzen chose to walk, a slower pace allowing him to observe the damage inflicted upon the village. As he walked, however, he noticed something peculiar. While many buildings were damaged, particularly restaurants, stores, and other businesses, all the residential homes seemed to be intact. He found this selective destruction rather odd.
As he continued his walk, Hiruzen noticed the villagers' reactions. They weren't looking at him with the usual deference and respect afforded to the Hokage. Instead, their gazes were fixed on Naruto, their expressions a complex mix of awe, worry, gratitude, and… guilt? Hiruzen was confused by this sudden shift in their perception of Naruto. He eventually reached the hospital, the villagers' eyes still following the young hero in his arms.
Upon entering the hospital, Hiruzen requested immediate medical assistance for Naruto. Suddenly, he was surrounded by a throng of nurses, all eager to treat their "hero." They were quickly pushed aside, however, by Tsunade and Ayame, who took charge of the situation. Tsunade gently took Naruto from Hiruzen's arms and carried him to a private medical room, her expression serious.
Hiruzen, after ensuring Naruto was in capable hands, led the other Kage to his office. He sat behind his desk, the weight of the recent events heavy on his shoulders. "First," he began, addressing the Kage, "I would like to apologize for involving you in such an attack. I thank you for being willing to help when you didn't have to."
Mei spoke first. "It's no problem," she said, her voice sincere. "I felt that I owed Naruto. His clan were the ones who forged our legendary blades of the Seven Swordsmen."
The Raikage then spoke. "Consider it sort of an apology for us trying to kidnap Kushina and the Hyūga girl in the past," he admitted, a hint of regret in his voice.
Ōnoki spoke last. "I want our villages to put our past grievances to rest," he declared. "My willingness to help should show how serious I am about that."
Hiruzen nodded, understanding dawning on his face. "I see," he said. "So I'm guessing Naruto's existence plays a part in this?"
The Kage nodded in unison.
"In that case," Hiruzen suggested, "let's wait until Naruto wakes up to continue this discussion. We have hotels available for your lodging. For some reason, no living areas were damaged during the attack," he added, a hint of puzzlement in his voice.
The Kage agreed, and they were escorted to the hotel. Hiruzen then returned to the hospital, going directly to Naruto's room. He found Naruto lying on a bed, connected to multiple IV drips, receiving vital nutrients. He was still unconscious. Tsunade was writing on a clipboard, documenting his condition meticulously. Ayama sat next to Naruto's bed, holding his hand gently.
"How is he?" Hiruzen asked, his voice filled with concern.
"Well," Tsunade answered, "externally, he's fine. But his chakra coils are extremely inflamed and burned. He has a lot of extremely potent chakra, but his coils aren't developed enough to withstand such a high output. He's in a miniature coma; his body is focusing all its energy on recovering."
Hiruzen understood. Naruto had pushed himself to the absolute limits to protect the village, and his body was now paying the price. Ayama, still holding Naruto's hand, had been deeply affected by the invasion. While assisting her mother in treating the injured, she had witnessed Naruto's actions firsthand. She had seen how tirelessly he fought, how fiercely he protected them all.
Hiruzen was then called away by an ANBU ninja to attend an urgent meeting. He used his Body Flicker technique to reach the meeting chambers quickly. He found the clan heads, the two elders, Danzo, and various dignitaries already assembled. He took his seat at the head of the table. "So," he asked, "what's this meeting about?"
Shikaku spoke first. "We have received a letter of surrender from the Sand Village," he announced. "They realized they were tricked by Orochimaru into going through with the invasion."
Hiruzen, who had already suspected this, simply nodded. He accepted their surrender. "I see," he said. "So, who do you all think deserves promotions?"
"I vote for Shikamaru," Inoichi said. "He showed great strategic thinking and was able to outthink a more powerful opponent. A sound mind is integral for a Chunin." Murmurs of agreement echoed around the room.
"I vote for Sakura Haruno," Tsume said. "She also used her smarts to secure a tie against a much faster opponent."
Shukaku, surprisingly, spoke up. "I want to nominate Naruto," he declared. "He's shown not only great power and skill but also great tactical thinking. During the invasion, he took immediate control and gave orders to his peers. Not to mention defeating a Tailed Beast alone and saving the Hokage's life against Orochimaru. Naruto is the biggest reason the invasion failed. But he shouldn't be a Chunin. I vote to promote him to Jonin. He's more than capable." Everyone agreed with Shukaku's assessment, especially the dignitaries, as Naruto was the one who had saved and protected them.
Hiruzen nodded. "You all make great points," he said. "Very well, I will go through with these promotions. Anything else?"
A dignitary spoke. "Is Naruto okay? I haven't seen him around."
"He's currently in the hospital in a mini-coma" Hiruzen said, his expression turning somber. "He put significant strain on his body during the invasion." He explained Naruto's condition to the worried dignitaries.
"When will he awaken?" another dignitary asked.
"We don't know," Hiruzen admitted. "He's done extreme damage to his chakra coils."
The dignitaries looked down in sadness.
"If that's all," Hiruzen said, bringing the meeting to a close, "the meeting is adjourned." Everyone filed out of the room, their thoughts focused on the young hero who had saved their village.
A week had passed since the devastating invasion of Konoha. Surprisingly, there were no casualties. Stories of Naruto and his clones' heroic actions had spread like wildfire throughout the village, tales of his bravery, his ferocity in battle, and his incredible strength becoming the stuff of legends. Naruto was now a celebrity, not only among the villagers but also among the foreigners who had attended the Chunin Exams. The villagers, who had once shunned him, were now deeply worried about him, especially after hearing he had fallen into a coma. Every day, hundreds of people attempted to visit him in the hospital, but access was strictly controlled. Two ANBU guards stood watch outside his room around the clock, politely but firmly turning away the well-wishers. Despite being denied access, the villagers left an outpouring of gifts, flowers, and get-well cards, piling up outside his guarded door. Hundreds more waited patiently outside the hospital, hoping for any news of their hero's condition, waiting for hours for Naruto to awaken. Inside the hospital, multiple nurses volunteered to care for him, some even vying for the privilege of looking after the "hero of Konoha." Naruto had even begun to acquire several monikers. The first was "The Hero of Konoha," a title bestowed upon him by the grateful villagers. Another was "The Purple Angel," a nod to the color of his chakra and his selfless actions. But the most popular one was simply "The Guardian," a testament to his unwavering dedication to protecting the village.
Finally, Naruto's eyes fluttered open. The bright light of the hospital room stung his eyes momentarily before they adjusted. Once fully awake, he sat up, his body aching slightly, and looked around, recognizing his surroundings. A nurse, checking on the patients, walked into the room, her eyes widening when she saw Naruto awake. She dropped her clipboard with a clatter and rushed out of the room, returning moments later with Tsunade in tow. Tsunade rushed to Naruto's side and hugged him tightly, relief evident in her embrace. "Thank God you're okay," she said, her voice filled with emotion.
Naruto hugged her back, a small smile gracing his lips. "How long was I out?" he asked.
Tsunade looked at him, her expression serious. "A week," she replied.
Naruto's eyes widened in surprise. "Are you serious? A week?"
Tsunade nodded. "You had a lot of visitors as well," she added. "Your classmates, the Kage, and hundreds of civilians all wanted to check on you. They even left gifts. We had to seal them away because the entire room was covered."
Naruto was surprised again. He had thought the village hated him, but their actions spoke a different story.
Tsunade channeled chakra into the seals on his bed, and his vital signs were projected onto the wall, showing that while he was stable, he was far from fully recovered. He still felt a slight, lingering pain in his chakra coils.
News of Naruto's awakening had already spread throughout the hospital like wildfire. Within minutes, the building was surrounded by hundreds of people, all eager to catch a glimpse of their hero. Naruto heard the commotion outside and peeked out the window. He saw the massive crowd gathered outside the hospital, their faces turned towards his window. Upon seeing him, the crowd erupted in loud cheers, their voices echoing through the streets.
"Well," Tsunade said, a hint of amusement in her voice, "you're free to go. No need to stay here any longer."
Naruto was nervous about facing such a large crowd. He had no idea he had made such a profound impression on them. He walked out of the hospital, taking a deep breath, and was immediately swarmed by the adoring crowd. People were thanking him profusely, patting him on the back, some even asking for his autograph. He was overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection. He walked through the crowd, shaking hands, thanking the villagers, and signing autographs, but the sheer number of people was overwhelming. He suddenly body flickered away, escaping the crowd's enthusiastic embrace.
He reappeared outside his door and entered his home, finally finding some respite from the public attention. He was immediately glomped by a happy Ayama. "Whiskers, you're okay!" she yelled, her voice filled with joy.
"Yes, I'm fine," Naruto said, hugging her back.
"You know you're considered a hero now, right?" she said, pulling back slightly to look at him.
Naruto nodded. "Yes," he replied. "From the reaction I got outside, I figured that was the case." He was still sore from his recent battles and decided to rest for the remainder of the day. He would visit his friends tomorrow, when he felt a little more up to it.
The Sand Village, reeling from the aftermath of the failed invasion, had just sent a formal letter of surrender to Konoha. They felt utterly humiliated, realizing how easily they had been manipulated by Orochimaru. A council meeting was immediately called to discuss the ramifications of their actions and the path forward. Temari, having just returned from Konoha, had finished recounting the incredible events she had witnessed. Her report left the council members in a state of stunned disbelief.
"There's no way a mere Genin could take on a Tailed Beast alone," one councilor scoffed, dismissing Temari's claims as exaggeration.
"I believe it," Chiyo, the village elder, said firmly. "If he comes from the Uzumaki clan, it is very possible that he's that strong." Everyone present knew the legendary power of the Uzumaki clan. But even with that knowledge, the idea of a twelve-year-old single-handedly defeating a Tailed Beast seemed almost impossible.
Baki, ever the pragmatist, offered his opinion. "We should ask for an alliance with Konoha," he suggested. "I would rather be a friend than an enemy if Konoha has an Uzumaki of that caliber in their ranks." His suggestion surprised some, but the more they considered it, the more sense it made.
"But we need a way to seal the deal beyond just a paper treaty," one of the councilors pointed out.
Chiyo spoke up again. "How about a political marriage?" she proposed.
The idea was met with murmurs of approval. It was a time-tested way to cement alliances between powerful factions. "Who would we choose?" Baki asked.
"That's easy," Chiyo replied. "We choose Temari and the Uzumaki. Temari is the daughter of the Kazekage, and the Uzumaki is the heir of the most powerful clan." Murmurs of agreement echoed through the chambers.
"Do we have a picture of the Uzumaki kid?" someone asked. After hearing about his incredible exploits, many were curious to see what this extraordinary young ninja looked like.
Chiyo pulled out a Bingo Book and flipped to the A-Rank section before tossing the book to the center of the table. The image they saw was of Naruto, caught in the middle of battle. He had four light purple chakra arms extending from his back, his face set in a fierce expression of determination. Upon closer inspection, they noticed his bright red hair and eyes… unmistakable symbols of his Uzumaki blood. But Chiyo had noticed something else, something she hadn't seen before. "Say," she said, her voice thoughtful, "doesn't he kind of resemble the Fourth Hokage? Besides his hair and eye color, I'd say he's the spitting image."
Everyone looked closer at the picture, and Chiyo was right. The resemblance was uncanny. "Could he be a relative of his?" Baki wondered aloud. It was certainly possible, but without proof, they shouldn't make any assumptions.
Temari and her siblings remained silent, their minds racing. Temari didn't know how to feel about the prospect of marrying Naruto. She had to admit that he was extremely handsome, not to mention incredibly strong. But still, she was conflicted.
Gaara, sensing his sister's inner turmoil, spoke up. "I approve of him," he said, his voice quiet but firm. "I can tell he's loyal and incredibly protective of those he loves. He was able to guide me to the light and change me from my murderous ways."
Temari was surprised to hear Gaara speak so highly of someone. He had never praised anyone before. This Naruto kid must be truly special.
Temari, after a moment of contemplation, spoke. "I accept," she said, her voice clear and resolute.
The councilors looked at her, surprised but pleased by her decision. "That's great, Temari," one of them said. "But we will have to have a meeting with the Hokage to discuss the terms of the alliance and the marriage. We will leave for Konoha within two weeks. Meeting adjourned."
Temari walked through her village, her mind deep in thought. The image of Naruto, his red hair blazing, his purple chakra arms extended, kept flashing through her mind. She still had mixed feelings about the impending marriage, but she knew it was for the good of her village. And deep down, a part of her was intrigued by the prospect of spending her life with such a powerful and charismatic individual.
Two weeks had passed since the devastating invasion of Konoha, and the village had already been fully repaired. The damage, thankfully, had been minimal, and Naruto's clones had played a significant role in speeding up the reconstruction process. The village, though scarred, was resilient, a testament to the spirit of its inhabitants.
In the Hokage's office, Jiraiya was engaged in an urgent meeting with Hiruzen. "The Akatsuki are about to start moving again," Jiraiya reported, his voice grave. "From my spy network, I've learned that they are targeting Jinchuriki. For what purpose, I don't know, but they will definitely target Naruto."
Hiruzen's expression turned grim. Tsunade, who was also present, looked worried. "So, what are we going to do?" she asked, her voice tight with concern.
Hiruzen, his mind already working on a plan, called out, "Cat, bring me agents Weasel and Cheetah."
Tsunade and Jiraiya exchanged curious glances, wondering what Hiruzen had in mind. The agents he had summoned appeared in a swirl of leaves, kneeling before the Hokage. "Sir!" they said in unison.
"I have a high-priority, S-Rank spy mission for you," Hiruzen began. "There's this criminal organization called Akatsuki who are hunting down Jinchuriki. Your mission is to secretly infiltrate this organization and spy from the inside." He paused, his gaze meeting theirs. "I will be giving you two cover stories, as they only accept missing-ninjas."
Both ANBU operatives accepted the mission without hesitation. "Remove your masks," Hiruzen instructed.
Both Itaia and Kimiko removed their masks, revealing the faces of two beautiful women.
"Itaia," Hiruzen said, addressing the first agent, "I will be using your past mission of stopping the Uchiha rebellion as your cover story. You will be painted as a traitor who murdered half of her clan."
Itaia nodded, her expression resolute. She would do anything for the sake of her village, even carrying this terrible burden.
"Kimiko," Hiruzen continued, turning to the second agent, "you will be painted as a bitter Senju who aided Itaia in her murder of the Uchiha."
Kimiko accepted the mission, her expression determined. These types of deep-cover operations were her specialty.
"For this to work," Hiruzen emphasized, "you cannot let anybody know the details of this mission. This stays between all of us in this room. Absolute secrecy is paramount."
"Yes, sir!" Itaia and Kimiko responded in unison.
Hiruzen nodded. "You have a week to prepare. Dismissed." Both women left the room to begin their preparations for the dangerous mission ahead.
Turning back to Tsunade and Jiraiya, Hiruzen said, "I plan on taking Naruto out of the village again on a three-year training trip in about three months. He's strong now, but he needs to get stronger to fight against the Akatsuki. Tsunade, I suggest you step up Ayama's training as well."
Tsunade and Jiraiya nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. The Akatsuki were a serious threat, and Naruto, as a Jinchuriki, was a prime target. They needed to be prepared for what was to come.
Naruto, his body finally healed, was now back in training, his energy and enthusiasm renewed. Tsunade had finally given him the green light to resume his rigorous training regimen. He had also learned that he would soon be embarking on a three-year training trip with Jiraiya, a prospect that filled him with both excitement and a touch of trepidation.
Naruto was still adjusting to being treated as a hero in his village. It was a strange and surreal experience. He noticed kids playing with action figures made in his likeness, reenacting his famous jutsu. He even noticed more than a few women wearing shirts emblazoned with his image, a sight that made him blush and feel a little awkward. It weirded him out, if he was honest. He had gone from being the village pariah to the village idol almost overnight, and the sudden shift in public perception was something he was still trying to wrap his head around.
After finishing his training for the day, Naruto went to wash up, the image of his face on a t-shirt flashing briefly in his mind. He finished his ablutions and was about to take a stroll through the village before he was intercepted by a cat-masked ANBU. "The Hokage requires your presence," the ANBU operative said.
Naruto nodded and body flickered away, reappearing in the Hokage's office. He saw Sakura and Shikamaru already present, standing before Hiruzen. He greeted them both warmly and then turned his attention to the Hokage.
"I want to congratulate you all on a job well done during the Chunin Exams as well as the invasion," Hiruzen said, his voice filled with pride. "Sakura, Shikamaru, step forward."
They both stepped forward, a mix of excitement and nonchalance on their faces. Hiruzen handed them each a Chunin vest. "Congratulations," he said. "You're now proud Chunin of the Leaf."
Sakura was ecstatic, her face beaming with joy. Shikamaru, true to his nature, was more subdued, though a hint of satisfaction could be seen in his eyes.
"Naruto," Hiruzen continued, his gaze turning to the young hero, "because of your beyond excellent performance, as well as being a major defender during the invasion, I hereby name you Jonin. You've earned it."
Naruto was speechless. He had been expecting a promotion, but Jonin? That was a huge leap. Now that he was a Jonin, he could finally be publicly announced as the clan head of the Uzumaki clan, a fact he had been waiting for with bated breath.
Naruto, recovering from his surprise, grabbed the Jonin vest and bowed his head respectfully.
"Sakura, Shikamaru," Hiruzen said, dismissing them, "you are dismissed. Naruto, you stay."
Both new Chunin left the office, Sakura still beaming and Shikamaru already thinking about taking a nap.
After they had left, Hiruzen pulled out two huge boxes. One was filled with envelopes, and the other with scrolls. "This box," Hiruzen explained, gesturing to the box of envelopes, "is full of various letters sent by civilians while you were hospitalized. They wanted to express their gratitude and well wishes." He then gestured to the other box. "And this box is full of mission requests. They all requested you specifically."
Naruto was speechless again. "What the hell?" he muttered, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of mail and requests.
Hiruzen chuckled at his reaction. "Your performance in the exams and the invasion made a lasting impression with multiple dignitaries," he said. "You should sort through them. Don't worry, you have plenty of time." He then added, almost as an afterthought, "Also, the Kage wanted to have a meeting and asked for you to be present."
We now find ourselves in the stark confines of a dark interrogation room. Both Anko and Ibiki meticulously sifted through the information they had gathered. They had interrogated two kunoichi: Guren, defeated by Naruto during the invasion, and Tayuya, who had surrendered at the end of the conflict. Guren had initially been tight-lipped, refusing to divulge any information. However, after learning how Orochimaru had abandoned her without a second thought, leaving her to face the consequences alone, the realization that she meant nothing to him broke her resolve. Tayuya, on the other hand, had never been truly loyal to Orochimaru. After hearing that Naruto was an Uzumaki, she expressed a desire to stay in Konoha. She was half-Uzumaki herself and yearned to be with her family, a connection she had never known. Both kunoichi, motivated by different reasons, spilled everything they knew about Orochimaru, from the details of his twisted experiments to the locations of all his secret bases. They now awaited their fate, their futures hanging in the balance, dependent on the Hokage's decision.
Anko, her mind preoccupied, had been wanting to speak with Naruto. She had learned that he had managed to seal Sasuki's curse mark, halting its insidious influence, and that he was even researching a way to remove it completely. She was impressed by his skill and compassion, and she knew that Sasuki was suffering. She resolved to seek him out soon, hoping he could help.
Meanwhile, Naruto was in a meeting with Hiruzen and the Raikage. The atmosphere was tense, the weight of past transgressions hanging heavy in the air. "Firstly," the Raikage began, his voice somber, "I want to apologize for what our village has done in kidnapping Kushina and the Hyūga girl. My father was a very power-hungry man. I had no choice but to dethrone him, as his greed was tearing Kumo apart. Now, I would like to forge a strong alliance between our villages. To solidify this bond, I'd like to offer a marriage between Yugito, our Jinchuriki, and Samui, one of my most promising kunoichi."
Hiruzen and Naruto were both taken aback by this unexpected proposal. They hadn't anticipated such a drastic offer. "Hmm," Hiruzen mused, considering the proposition. "An alliance does sound beneficial, but I'm sure the Hyūga clan will not be pleased with this one bit. Give me some time to speak with them and the other relevant parties, and I will send you our reply."
The Raikage bowed his head in understanding and then shook Naruto's hand, a gesture of respect and goodwill, before leaving the office. The weight of the decision, the implications of such a marriage, hung heavy in the air as Hiruzen and Naruto discussed the matter in hushed tones.
Next to enter the Hokage's office was the Mizukage, Mei. Naruto blushed slightly as he saw her up close. She was even more beautiful in person than he had remembered. "Hello, Hokage, and hello, Naruto," she greeted them both, her voice warm and friendly.
Hiruzen and Naruto nodded in acknowledgment. "Hello, Mei," Hiruzen replied. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Firstly, Naruto," Mei began, her expression turning serious, "I want to apologize for what my village has done to your ancestors in the past. Because of our fear, you now have no clan. We allowed our fear to overcome our judgment." Mei then bowed in apology, a gesture of sincere regret.
Naruto was taken aback. He hadn't expected an apology, especially not from the Mizukage herself. "I won't lie," he said, his voice thoughtful, "when I first learned of the massacre, I held a lot of resentment for your villages. But over time, I let it go and realized that the current generation had nothing to do with the past decisions. I accept your apology."
Mei was both impressed and relieved by Naruto's maturity and understanding. "I would like to form an alliance between our villages," she continued, her gaze fixed on Naruto, "with a marriage contract between me and Naruto when he's of age."
Naruto and Hiruzen's eyes widened in surprise. This was the last thing they had expected to hear. "Wh...why me?" Naruto stammered, his face flushed.
Mei smiled, a playful glint in her eyes. "Well," she said, her voice teasing, "you exhibit a lot of traits I want in a man... you're kind, protective of your loved ones, and not to mention strong. Plus," she added, her smile widening, "you're a cutie pie."
At this point, Naruto was blushing furiously, steam practically pouring from his ears. "Umm, thanks," he managed to say, "you're quite beautiful as well... but can I think about this first? It's a lot to take in."
Mei nodded understandingly. "Sure," she said. "I'm willing to wait for you. Even if you decline, it won't hurt our possible alliance. Well, that's all for me. Do think about it, Naruto." Mei leaned down and kissed him on the cheek, leaving a lingering warmth. "I'll be waiting," she whispered before walking out of the office with a not-so-subtle sway of her hips.
Naruto couldn't help but stare after her, his mind reeling. "What the hell did I get myself into?" he muttered, his voice a mix of awe and bewilderment.
"You lucky bastard," Hiruzen chuckled, amused by Naruto's reaction.
Ōnoki then floated into the office after Mei's departure. "Hello, Ōnoki," Hiruzen greeted him. "What can I do for you?" He was curious about what the Tsuchikage wanted. Iwa had held the most resentment toward Konoha after the Fourth Hokage had decimated a large chunk of their forces during the Third Shinobi World War.
"Well," Ōnoki began, his voice surprisingly conciliatory, "I wanted to propose a neutral agreement between our villages. I spent years hating this village because of the war. It was an irrational hate, I can admit that now. Minato did what he did for his village, and I can respect that. But I've realized that holding onto this hate will only hurt our villages in the long run. So, I wanted to propose a neutral agreement between us."
Hiruzen understood where Ōnoki was coming from. Hatred ruled the ninja world and was the cause of all the wars and smaller battles that had plagued their history. "I see," he said. "I will agree. I always wanted the unnecessary bloodshed to cease, and this would be a good start."
Hiruzen signed the neutral treaty and shook Ōnoki's hand, a symbol of their newfound understanding. "Maybe one day this could evolve into an actual alliance," Hiruzen suggested.
Ōnoki nodded. "Perhaps," he said before leaving the office.
"Man, what a day," Naruto exclaimed, still trying to process the events of the past hour.
"What a day indeed," Hiruzen agreed. "Be back here tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. I have an important mission for you."
Naruto nodded. "Understood," he said, and then headed home, his mind buzzing with the day's unexpected developments.
Deep within the bowels of an underground hideout, a loud scream of pain echoed through the dimly lit halls. "Ahhhhhhh!" Orochimaru shrieked, his voice raw with agony. His entire insides felt as though they were being consumed by fire. He was unable to channel chakra; his entire chakra network was a smoldering ruin, shredded and burned by Naruto's devastating seal. "Curse you… curse you, Uzumaki!" Orochimaru yelled, his voice laced with venom. He had once again underestimated Naruto, a mistake he was now paying dearly for. He should have known never to underestimate a ninja from the Uzumaki clan, regardless of age. Their bloodline was potent, their skills formidable.
"Kabuto," Orochimaru rasped, his voice weak, "I want you to update the Bingo Book. Naruto has become a major threat to our plans."
Kabuto, who had managed to escape Konoha before the village was completely locked down, nodded in acknowledgment. Someone had caught on to his presence, forcing him to flee earlier than planned. Because of his premature departure, he hadn't witnessed the full extent of the events that had transpired in Konoha. "Yes, sir. I'm on it," he replied.
Orochimaru screamed again, the pain unrelenting. "That damn Uzumaki," he seethed, his voice filled with hatred. "I'll kill him for what he's done to me." Orochimaru was beyond furious, his pride wounded, his plans disrupted.
Meanwhile, Itaia was preparing for her long-term mission of infiltrating the Akatsuki. She had informed Sasuki and her mother that she was being sent on a long-term mission but didn't divulge any details, keeping the true nature of her assignment secret. Her cover story was carefully crafted to be believable. In the past the Uchiha were preparing a coup to take over Konoha, and Danzo, fearing a full-scale rebellion, had ordered the entire clan to be wiped out. However, Hiruzen had offered a compromise: only those actively involved in the coup would be eliminated. The children and the majority of the women were spared. Itaia said her goodbyes, her heart heavy, and gave Sasuki a scroll containing her personal jutsu, a parting gift for her beloved younger sister. Sasuki hugged her sister tightly, tears welling up in her eyes, saying she would miss her dearly.
Kimiko was in a similar situation. She had informed the residents of her compound about her long-term mission with Itachi, again without revealing any specifics. They all hugged her, wishing her well and safe return. Naruto, knowing the dangers they would face, gave her two scrolls, one for her and one for Itaia. Then, with a final hug and a promise to return, Kimiko left.
Naruto, his mind filled with the weight of recent events and the upcoming training trip, his thoughts a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties. The world of shinobi was complex and dangerous, and he knew that the challenges ahead would be even greater than anything he had faced so far.
