FallenAngels Arc Chapter 18: Fallen Invasion
"I sense fallen angels and stray exorcists. There are a lot of them. They're all over town." Jiro said in a low, serious tone.
Irina, Raynare, and Asia looked at him in shock and horror as they processed his words. "Y-you sense fallen angels and stray exorcists?! A-all over town?!" Irina asked, eyes wide.
"Yes, I do, and they're in large groups," Jiro said, turning back to the three. Irina and Raynare jolt as they start to sense them as well, and Raynare realizes what might be going on.
"They're most likely looking for me and Asia, but I didn't expect them to go to this length." Raynare said in irritation. Jiro looked at her in agreement.
"Yeah, that might be the-" Before Jiro could finish his sentence, he looked back in the direction he had been looking at previously. "Wait, in the three places where the fallen and exorcists are, Rias, Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko are there," Jiro said in shock.
"They probably think the devils captured you two and are attacking them. But I'm also sensing more fallen angels in other parts of town." Jiro said, making the three look at him again.
Before they could respond, almost on cue, they heard an explosion in the distance. "W-what was that?!" Asia yelled, in fear.
"Don't tell me they're..." Jiro, Irina, and Raynare said in unison. The three of them ran outside while Asia stayed by the door and saw black smoke coming from multiple places with a reddish, orange glow underneath them. "W-what the hell is happening?!" Raynare said, looking around.
"Are they just rampaging or searching?!" Irina said in horror.
"Those bastards," Jiro said in anger as some of his draconic aura released, making the girls jolt and shudder as they felt the air heat up and thicken. They then looked in another direction, eyes wide.
"Some fallen angels are approaching us." Irina said as she summoned a light sword. Raynare did the same as she took a fighting stance. "They probably sensed the power I just released." Jiro said, as he brought his aura down.
A moment later, a group of about 10 fallen angels flew up to their house. "What do we have here? Huh, Lady Raynare? There you are. We were looking all over for you," one of the fallen angels said as he looked down at them and saw Raynare.
"Tch, so I was right," Raynare said, glaring at them. Another fallen angel looked at them, then at the house, and noticed Asia standing in the doorway.
"Oh, you found the nun too? What have you been doing all this time? Why haven't you returned to base? And who are these two? Is that a pure angel?!" He said as he looked at Jiro and Irina and realized she was an angel.
"That's none of your concern. Just know I'm no longer a part of your operation." Raynare said, pointing her light sword up at them.
The fallen angels looked at her in shock. "What the hell are you talking about?! Don't tell us you're going to be a traitor now?!" A female fallen angel said in shock and somewhat anger.
"I'm not going traitor. I'm simply choosing my own path to follow." Raynare said, to which Jiro smiled.
"What nonsense! It seems we'll have to eliminate a traitor and her friends, then take the nun." Another fallen said as the group readies their light weapons.
Irina and Raynare get ready for a fight, but Jiro puts his hands up, signaling for them to stand down. "Woah there, don't go wasting your energy on these grunts," Jiro said, to which Irina and Raynare look at him confused.
Irina then turns slightly concerned. "Don't tell me you're going to fight them all by yourself?! That's way too reckless." Irina said fearfully.
"I never said that. We won't be the one dealing with them." Jiro said with a mischievous smile.
Irina and Raynare both say "huh?" in unison as Jiro lifts his right hand. "These guys will," Jiro said simply, snapping his fingers.
As soon as Jiro snapped, about one hundred teens and young adults, all wearing some kind of red clothing, appeared around them. Irina, Raynare, Asia, and the fallen angel group above looked around in surprise at their sudden appearance.
The group looked around in surprise at their sudden arrival and noticed Jiro. "Boss Jiro?!" They all said in unison.
"How's it hanging, knuckleheads? I got some prey for all of you." Jiro said, smiling at them mischievously.
Issei steps forward. "Boss Jiro, what's going on? There's chaos all over town!" he said in concern.
"I'm aware. There are fallen angels all over town wreaking havoc." Jiro said, to which they all looked at him in shock and anger.
"What?!" Aika said, cracking her knuckles. "They got some nerve!"
"Who the hell do they think they are?! Tearing up our town like this." Matsuda and Motohama said in unison.
"I know, right? That's where you guys come in. Roast em all, starting with those guys." Jiro said, pointing at the fallen group above them.
They all glared at them and took fighting stances. Irina and Raynare, who had been watching silently, finally spoke up.
"Jiro-kun, what's going on?! Is this your gang? What are they doing here?!" Irina said in surprise.
"To fight, obviously," Jiro said, turning to them.
"What?! What can a bunch of humans do against them?!" Raynare said, gesturing in shock to the gang members.
"Just watch," Jiro said with a knowing smile on his face. The fallen angel group chuckled at the sight of the group of gang members.
"I agree with Lady Raynare. They may have numbers, but what could a bunch of humans do against us?" A female fallen angel said as they all got ready to throw their light spears.
Seeing this, the gang members clenched their fists, and suddenly, they all burst into flames, shocking Irina, Raynare, Asia, and the fallen angels. Before they could throw their light spears, the gang members shot blasts of flames from their hands at them in unison, completely incinerating the fallen angels.
Irina, Raynare, and Asia looked at them in utter shock, unable to believe what they had just seen. Irina was the first to regain her composure.
"What the heck was that?!" Irina said, gobsmacked. "They just shot fire from their hands!"
"And they just roasted all those fallen angels as if it were nothing!" Raynare said, also gobsmacked.
"H-how did they do that?" Asia said, also gobsmacked as she walked up to the three.
The gang members looked at them while smirking. "What, did you think we were called the 'crimson dragons' for nothing? Every last one of these idiots can use fire magic," Jiro said, turning to the girls while gesturing to the gang as they smiled with pride.
"What?! They can?!" Irina asked in surprise. Jiro responded, saying, "Oh, did I forget to mention it?" with a sly smile.
"That's right. We wouldn't be followers of the Red Dragon Emperor if we were just regular old humans." Issei said, summoning a flame in his hand.
"That's right, and yes, we're very much aware of the supernatural, thank you very much." Aika said, crossing her arms under her chest as flames danced around her.
"Boss Jiro taught us how to do this, and we help him keep the peace in town," Matsuda said, giving Motohama a flaming fist bump.
The rest of the gang members nod, smiling with pride. Irina, Raynare, and Asia look at them in shock upon hearing their words.
"In all my many years of life, I've never seen a gang of human delinquents use magic before, let alone such powerful fire magic," Raynare said, still trying to wrap her head around this.
"Didn't you know? Any human can learn magic. It's quite easy, but hard at the same time." Jiro said, matter-of-factly.
"What, how?!" Irina asked again in surprise.
"Simple, there's something in our bodies and in the air called 'Ethernanos', or simply 'mana'. It's an element that dwells within all living beings, similar to Ki, and also exists as particles floating in the air. When trained and controlled correctly, it allows us to utilize magic." Jiro said, and Irina, Raynare, and Asia listened intently.
"Again, in all my years, even I didn't know this," Raynare said in disbelief. Irina and Asia simply said "amazing" in unison.
"Anyway, there's no time to keep chatting here. We have more fallen angels to deal with," Jiro said as everyone got serious.
As far as I know, there are three main groups of fallen angels and exorcists, along with a few smaller groups and some stray exorcists. The main groups are attacking the four devils that live in this town: Rias, Aken, Kiba, and Koneko. Now, all of you listen up for who is going where. Jiro said, and the crimson dragons listened intently.
"Issei, you and your group are going to where Rias and Akeno are. They seem to be at Kuoh Academy." Jiro said, to which Issei and his group nodded.
"Matsuda, Motohama, you and your groups are going to where Kiba is. Looks like he's at the park," Jiro said, to which they nodded.
"Aika, you and your group are going to where Koneko is. She seems to be near the shopping district a couple clicks away from the school." Jiro said, to which they nodded.
"The rest of you go deal with the fallen and exorcist stragglers who are on their own causing chaos around town. While you're doing that, I'll be here remotely teleporting all the people outside of town, putting them to sleep, and altering their memories." Jiro said, as he jumped to the top of his house and stretched out his arms, a red aura surrounding him.
"Wait, Jiro-kun, what are we doing?" Irina asked, eager to help the situation in whatever way she could.
"You two keep Asia safe by taking her to a hidden location while dealing with any fallen angels and stray exorcists you see," Jiro said, to which Irina nodded.
Raynare then jolts and her face goes pale as she remembers something important. "OH WAIT! I'M SO STUPID FOR FORGETTING SOMETHING LIKE THIS!" Raynare yelled, and everyone turned to her.
"Remember when I said Kokabiel wanted us to bring him Twilight Healing and something else? That 'something else' is a flute called 'Lullaby'! It's capable of killing anyone except the player just by hearing it! It doesn't work against devils because it has demonic power within it, but it can kill humans, angels, and even fallen angels." Raynare explained as everyone's eyes widened in shock and horror while Jiro swore something like that sounded familiar.
"What?! Where is it?! We have to find that right away before they do and use it!" Irina said, almost frantic.
"They already have it. It's at the abandoned church we were using as a base. Since most of them are attacking devils, it would be pretty useless, and knowing them, I doubt Kalawarner, Dohnaseek, and Mittelt would leave a weapon like that in the hands of just any old subordinate, so it's most likely still at the church." Raynare said matter-of-factly and seriously.
"Then you go to the church, get that flute, and guard it with your lives," Jiro said to Irina and Raynare.
"Wait, what about Asia-chan?!" Irina asked, gesturing to the nun.
"We'll take her with us and protect her," Raynare said.
"What?! No way! That's too dangerous, especially with that flute around."
"It's fine that the flute only kills those who hear its music, so all she has to do is cover her ears, and she'll be fine."
"Yeah but-" Before Irina could finish her sentence, Asia cut her off.
"I-I want to go with you! I want to help in any way that I can!" Asia said, definitely. Irina's eyes widened at her words.
"I can't just sit around and let everyone else protect me. I may not be a fighter, but I can still heal you two if either of you get hurt. I can be useful in this way. I want to help you, just as you helped me when we first met," Asia said assertively.
Irina looked conflicted and concerned. "You heard the nun, she's coming with us," Raynare said as she unfurled and spread her wings.
"F-fine, there's no time to argue, but try to stay out of harm's way, Asia-chan," Irina said, turning towards Asia, concern in her eyes.
"She can stay on my back as we fight." Raynare said, kneeling down for Asia to climb onto her, which she did.
"Now then, all of you get a move on. Crimson dragons, let the devils know about that 'Lullaby' flute, that it's at the abandoned church, and to head there right away. Got it?" Jiro yelled to everyone as they all took off, yelling "RIGHT!" in unison.
Irina and Raynare, with Asia in tow, flew with their wings toward the abandoned church at the edge of town. The crimson dragons, in their individual divisions, led by the 4 salamanders, rocketed themselves through the air by shooting flames from their hands and feet, Iron Man style. Jiro stayed behind on the roof of his house and continued to remotely teleport all the town's residents outside of town while putting them to sleep and altering their memories of the chaos.
Koneko fought with all her might and brute strength, fighting off the fallen angel that engaged her in close combat. She pushed the fallen angels back while deflecting their light weapons and the stray exorcists' light bullets with her "Rook" abilities. Mittlet watched from above in annoyance.
"Come on, can't you guys deal with one little devil?!" Mittelt yelled, making the fallen angels and exorcists glance at her briefly in irritation. Koneko used the opening to knock the fallen angels close to her back and go for Mittelt, guessing she was their leader.
Koneko unfurls her devil wings and flies up to Mittelt, her right fist drawn back, aiming for Mittelt's face. Seeing this, Mittelt summons a light staff and blocks Koneko's punch. The two then start fighting in mid-air, Koneko throwing a flurry of punches at Mittelt, who blocks them all with her light staff.
"You're pretty good, but I'm great," Mittelt said as she spun and swung her staff, hitting Koneko in the shoulder with great strength. Koneko staggered to the side mid-air slightly before regaining her composure.
The fallen angels and exorcist below seized the opportunity to start throwing light spears and shooting at her. Koneko tried her best to block and dodge as the projectiles tore at her clothing. Some of the light spears and bullets flew past her and collided with the cafe and other buildings, causing small explosions and destroying the walls.
Koneko says "oh crap" under her breath as she glances at the buildings that start to catch fire from the explosions. Seeing that she was distracted, Mittelt flies up to Koneko and raises her light staff above her head. "You might want to pay attention," Mittelt said as she brings her staff down in an attempt to stab her with its sharp edge.
Before Mittlet's light staff could make contact, Aika flies between them and catches the staff. Aika pulls on the staff, drawing Mittelt closer, and delivers a flaming kick. Koneko looks at her in surprise that this unknown girl had come to help her. She then glances down below to see more people on the ground, fighting the fallen angels and stray exorcists. Some are putting out the fires by, from the looks of it, absorbing it into their hands.
"Hey, you're Koneko, right? Don't worry, we're on your side. Boss Jiro sent us." Aika said, to which Koneko sighed in relief slightly.
"We'll deal with these guys here. You go to the abandoned church on the edge of town. Boss Irina and two others are going there to get a dangerous flute that kills people. Boss Jiro wants you to go help them." Aika said, making Koneko look at her questioningly.
Mittelt's eyes widened upon overhearing this and immediately flew off back to the church. Aika and Koneko looked at her in surprise as she flew away. "You go after her, we'll handle things here." Aika said, to which Koneko nodded and took off after Mittelt.
Five of the fallen angels break away from the action and try to fly off in pursuit of Koneko and Mittelt. Aika moves in front of them, her feet engulfed in flames, blocking their path. "Oh, no you don't, you damn crows," Aika says, spreading her arms wide as fireballs manifest all around her.
"BLAZING BARRAGE"
Aika yells as she thrusts her arms forward, and the fireballs shoot towards the fallen angels. Before they even have a chance to get away, once they're close enough, the fireballs all explode simultaneously, engulfing the fallen angels and killing them instantly, leaving nothing but burnt feathers.
"Whose next?" Aika yelled as she descended, eager to join the action with her fellow gang members.
Kiba, with two swords in each hand, zipped around the area. He slashed and gashed at any fallen angels or stray exorcists within range with great speed, making full use of his "Knight" abilities. The fallen and exorcists struggled to keep up as they attempted to strike with their light weapons and shoot at him with holy bullets. Dohnaseek hovered above them as he watched.
"Seems this kid actually has some skill. Might as well join in on the fun," Dohnaseek said as he summoned two light swords.
He charged down at Kiba with great speed, swinging both light swords at him. Kiba barely managed to react and block with his own swords as they met in a blade lock. They backed away from each other, spread their devil and fallen angel wings respectively, and flew up, engaging each other once more.
They clash blades in mid-air as they attempt to gain the upper hand on each other. They then swing at each other with all their swords and meet in another blade lock. "You're pretty good, kid. This is actually kind of fun," Dohnaseek said, forcefully outstretching his arms, pushing Kiba back a bit.
"You're not so bad yourself," Kiba said as he flew forward, trying to engage Dohnaseek again. Before he could reach Dohnaseek, however, a light spear came flying upwards at him, which he floated back, dodging it.
Kiba looks down and sees the fallen angel and exorcists aiming their weapons at him from the ground. They start throwing their light spears and shooting at him, to which he flies around, dodging all their attacks. Dohnaseek intercepts him, flying in front of him with great speed, too quick for Kiba to dodge, and attempts to slash at him.
Before Dohnaseek could slash Kiba, a blast of flames came between them, separating them. Kiba realized the barrage of light spears and bullets had stopped and looked back down to see a big group of people in red fighting the fallen angels and stray exorcists with flame magic.
When the blast of flames between Kiba and Dohnaseek dies down, it reveals Matsuda and Motohama floating between them, with flames on the bottom of their feet keeping them up. Kiba looks at them and recognizes them from his school. His eyes widen as he realizes it's them.
"Matsuda and Motohama?! What are you two doing here? And how are you using flame magic?!" Kiba asked in surprise and curiosity.
"How's it hanging, Prince Charming? We were sent by Boss Jiro to crash your party," Matsuda said, turning towards Kiba.
"No time to explain our fire powers, Boss Jiro wants you to head towards the abandoned church on the edge of town and help Boss Irina find a killer flute there. It's supposed to be the enemy's main base." Motohama said, to which Dohnaseek's eyes widened in shock, and he took off at full speed back to base.
The three guys' attention snapped toward him as he flew off. "You go after him; we'll handle things here," Matsuda and Motohama said in unison, gathering flames in their hands while looking down.
Kiba nods and flies after Dohnaseek. The pervert duo then fall to the ground as they charge their attacks. The other gang members all jump back as they see two of the 4 salamanders descending towards them.
"HELLISH HAVOC"
They yelled as they brought their flaming open hands back and simultaneously threw a large fireball at the fallen angels and exorcists. The fireball skirted across the ground, creating multiple explosions, careful not to burn any of the trees. The explosions killed a good number of the fallen angels and exorcists, incinerating them completely.
"Let's do this!" Matsuda and Motoham yelled in unison as they landed on the ground and took fighting stances, their fellow gang members behind them.
Rias and Akeno struggle against Kalawarner and her squad of fallen angels and exorcists. They try their hardest to maintain distance and fire off destruction power and lightning blasts at their adversaries while avoiding Kalawarner's slashes with her light swords. Rias was facing off against Kalawarner while Akeno was trying to deal with the horde of fallen angels surrounding her and the stray exorcists shooting at her from below.
'Damn it, there are so many of them!' Akeno thought to herself while dodging fallen angels flying around her and following up with blasts of lightning.
"Is this the best you can do, Rias Gremory? Aren't you the so-called 'Ruin Princess?'" Kalawarner asked mockingly while deflecting Rias's balls of destruction with ease.
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" Rias yelled in irritation as she kept firing at her.
Rias and Akeno were fighting their opponents in mid-air over the Kuoh Academy track field. While they may appear to be struggling, they both were holding back as much as they could for fear of causing too much damage to the school.
Rias's patience was wearing down, and she was getting more irritated by the second. "TAKE THIS!" Rias yelled as she fired a large blast of destructive power at Kalawarner, who, with much more effort, deflected it, knocking it towards the school's gymnasium.
The building exploded upon contact with the blast as debris flew everywhere. Rias and Akeno looked on in horror as they yelled "OH NO" in unison. Seeing an opening, Kalawarner flew up towards Rias with great speed while charging a blast of purple light energy.
"Are you worried about your school sweetheart? Then why don't I put you out of your misery so you don't have to watch it get eradicated?" Kalawarner said as she held her hand up a few inches from Rias's face, ready to blast her, point blank.
"RIAS!" Akeno yelled in fear, too preoccupied blocking the other fallen's strikes and exorcist's holy bullets with a barrier to go help her. Rias looked at Kalawarner, eyes wide, having no time to dodge or block. Kalawarner fired her blast, but before it could engulf Rias, Issei flew in, flames shooting out from the bottom of his feet, and pulled Rias out of the way, carrying her bridal style as Kalawarner's blast hit the ground in an explosion.
"Woah, that was a close one," Issei said, looking at the explosion and landing on his feet. "W-what the...?! Who are you?!" Rias said, looking up at Issei in shock from almost getting blasted, being saved, and carried by someone she didn't know.
"Yo, I'm Issei Hyoudou. I'm a member of Boss Jiro's gang. You're Rias, right? My boys and I are here to help you and Akeno," Issei said, looking down at Rias in his arms, and then up at Akeno as the other gang members started attacking the fallen angels and stray exorcists with their fire magic.
Rias glances at them and then back up at Issei, blushing like mad at the way he's holding her. "U-uh, thank you for that," Rias said, floating out of his arms and turning away to hide the blush on her face.
Issei responded with "No prob" as Akeno flew down towards them. Rias regained her composure as Akeno approached them. "Rias, are you okay?" Akeno asked in concern as she landed.
"Yes, I'm fine, Akeno, thanks to him," Rias said, gesturing to Issei. Rias then turned to Issei and became more serious. "Issei, was it? What's the situation?" Rias asked in a serious tone.
"There are fallen angels and stray exorcists all over town causing chaos, but don't worry; the rest of the crimson dragons are dealing with them. Right now, Boss Jiro wants you two to head over to an abandoned church on the edge of town. Your other devil friends are most likely headed there as we speak. The fallen angels have some kind of magic flute weapon there that can kill multiple people in an instant just by playing it." Issei explained, making Rias and Akeno look at him in shock, fear, and confusion.
Kalawarner, overhearing this, gritted her teeth and yelled, "DAMN IT!" as she flew off, headed for the abandoned church. Issei, Rias, and Akeno turned to her in surprise. "You two go after her; we'll handle things here," Issei said, pointing in the direction Kalawarner had flown.
"Will you be alright here by yourselves?" Rias asked in concern.
"Of course we're Boss Jiro's followers, after all. And don't worry about the school; we'll put out the fire." Issei said reassuringly. Rias and Akeno nodded, then suddenly Akeno yelled, "ISSEI, BEHIND YOU!"
Five fallen angels were heading towards them, weapons ready. Issei grinned as he turned towards them, igniting flames in his hands. "You know, if you ladies are worried about collateral damage, here's a tip." He said as he summoned and held up a large fireball with his left hand and drew his right fist back. "You stay below your opponents and aim upwards..."
"DRAGON SHOT!"
Issei yelled as he punched the fireball, and a large blast of flames flew upwards, towards the fallen angels, incinerating them completely, leaving nothing but scorched feathers floating down. Rias and Akeno looked on in shock at the display and took in his words.
"Now get going before she beats you to the church," Issei said, turning back to the girls over his shoulder. They nodded, spread their wings, and took off after Kalawarner.
"Alright, be careful, Issei!" Rias yelled down at him. Issei smiled up at her and said, "Don't worry about me, honey. Now go." He spoke with a confident smile.
Rias blushed slightly at his smile, confidence, and pet name for her, before nodding, turning around, and flying forward. Akeno noticed her expression and smiled mischievously. "My, my, what's with that flustered expression, Rias? Have you found yourself a new crush?" Akeno teased, covering her mouth with her fingers.
Rias's blush deepened at her words. "NOW'S NOT THE TIME, AKENO!!" Rias yelled with a massive blush on her face and tick marks on her cheeks and forehead, to which Akeno giggled. The "King" and "Queen" flew off at full speed towards the church.
Jiro stood on the roof of his house, with a crimson aura around him and his arms stretched out. He had already teleported about half of Kuoh Town's residents outside of town, putting them to sleep, and altering their memories.
"You idiots had better come out of this alive. Especially you, Irina." Jiro said to himself while scowling, but his concern was obvious.
