:-[Chapter 48]-:

"You really need to learn some spells and wards for that, Master." Hedwig said, squinting her eyes slowly at him. "That way you can add your own protection to your room without me acting as a look out."

"Runes will help tremendously next year. I have already decided on that class since it seemed the most important of all. I have already read a little on the subject and the potential is almost infinite. Did you know that there is a rune that makes objects almost indestructible?"

"What use can you make of this, Master Harry?" the familiar inquired.

"I can easily make Potter Manor an even stronger fortress than what it is now. Grand-father Fleamont has told me that the house is very strong in term of wards but has almost norunes involved. This is where I come along, I will make my house the strongest place you can possibly live in Britain so that no one, can ever destroy my home." the young boy explained, while descending the stairs to his trunk to train by himself yet again.

:-[September 7th, Monday, 1992]-:

Harry opened his emerald-green eyes slowly coming out ofhis meditation. Casting a quick Tempus spell, the young wizard saw that it was exactly six in the morning. Rising up to his feet, the raven-haired boy exited his trunk to take a quick shower before going down to the Great Hall to eat his breakfast with his friends before classes.

Once he arrived at his table, he saw that Luna and Hermione were already there, eating and chatting amicably.

"Hello my ladies. I hope you had a good night of sleep." Harry said before taking a seat and filling up his plate.

Luna giggled at being called a lady and answered her friend. "Oh yes, last night I slept great. I was exhausted after our training. How was yours?" she asked, looking deep in his eyes.

"I slept great, t-thank you Luna." Harry answered.

"No, I meant how was your training after ours?" the young blonde inquired, munching on a piece of bacon.

Harry was slightly taken aback by his friend's question. Since the beginning Luna had known things she could not possibly have known. Luckily for him, Hermione didn't seem to have heard the blonde's question to him, being absorbed by her book.

"It went well thank you. What class do you have first?" Harry asked, changing the subject.

"Charms with Professor Flitwick for a double period with the Gryffindors! Those are my favorite! Professor Flitwick makes the books fly all around and dance sometimes."

"Do well in class, Luna." Harry said, patting her head affectionally, receiving a beaming smile from the young girl.

"What about you, Harry? What class do you have this morning?"

"Potions." the young boy grumbled. "First class with teacher Snape since I am a Ravenclaw. I cannot wait to see what excuse he is going to make to take points from me this time."

"I know you don't like each other Harry," Hermione said, looking up from her book. "but he is our professor and we need to give him our respect."

"My respect is earned, not given, Hermione. Especially to a man who's method of teaching is simplyputting instructions on a board and saying 'shut up' to his students."

"I think Harry is right. I don't like the man either. He's mean and scary." Luna said, looking down at her plate.

"Did he say something to you, Luna?" Harry asked, squinting his eyes dangerously. "You know Professor Flitwick's door is always open for us."

"He didn't say anything to me directly but I felt his gaze on me a lot, like he was looking for a mistake on my part, but mummy showed me potions before she..." the young girl said, looking sad.

"It's okay Luna, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." the young boy said, holding her shoulders, making her lean into his touch.

"No...I-I want to do it. You are my friends." Luna sighed. "Mummy was a great Potions Mistress and also liked to created her own spells. One day, she tried to combine one of her spells with the potion she was working on but... it caused an explosion and it killed her. I was seven."

"I am so sorry Luna." Harry said. "It must have been hard for you and your dad."

"It was. I think daddy never really got over it. He still has a sadness in his eyes that has never truly gone away. I think he misses mummy terribly." the young Ravenclaw girl said, tears forming in her eyes.

"I am sure that she watches over you, Luna." Hermione said kindly, offering her own support and making Harry nod at her comment.

"This necklace..." Luna said, pointing at the numerous Butterbeer caps around her neck. "Is the last thing we made together before that day. It is the last thing my mummy made for me. It is supposed to keep the Nargles away."

"What are Nargles, Luna?" Harry asked after a small moment of hesitation.

:-[T.A.B]-:

Harry was walking towards the dungeon, where the Potions class was to take place. Hedwig had joined him after breakfast where she had successfully hunted down a couple of mice for her to eat. Hermione was chatting beside him about the tournament.

"So Harry, what do you think about the format of the tournament?" the brown-haired girl asked.

"Hmm? Well it is pretty standard if you ask me. I think there is something more to it." Harry said with honesty. "I cannot say what but I can't wait to see it."

They entered the classroom, where many of the Hufflepuffs were already seated. Teacher Snape wasn't present of course. Knowing the man, he would probably arrive bursting in the room, his robe billowing behind him.

As if called by the gods themselves, Severus Snape entered the room, bursting through the entrance which luckily didn't have any students near it. Harry was also right about the man's robe billowing furiously behind him. 'I am sure there is some magic in effect.' thought the young boy.

"Welcome, to your second year in my class." Snape drawled, once he was at his desk. "To see if the summer had a harmful effect on your small heads. Each of you shall brew the Wiggenweld Potion. Madam Pomfrey is telling me that she needssaid potion for her stock as the Quidditch season is about to start and thus, bringing many injuries. Mister Potter, I see you have brought with you your pigeon. There will be no need for such an animal in my class."

"He called me a WHAT?" Hedwig bellowed in Harry's mind, hurting him a little. The white familiar was perched upon his shoulder as per usual and was batting her wings angrily at the older man who was smirking.

"Please keep your creature under proper control, Mister Potter. Ten points from Ravenclaw." the so-called potion professor said, to the fury of the House of the clever.

Harry was torn between his new house and his own pride. In a way, he knew he could not just let the man get away with it but on the other side, he could not alienate his entire new house on his first Potions class.

"Calm down, girl. Let him have his small victory today." Harry mentally said to his familiar, scratching her feathers.

"Nothing to say? Well, maybe the fact that you are now a Ravenclaw proves that you are smarter than the average Gryffindor." Snape smirked, clearly hoping to provoke his young student. "To more important matters. I expect all of you to brew me at the very least two vials of Wiggenweld Potion and if you cannot, twenty inches on how to brew a decent one."

Harry looked as Snape sent him and Neville one last sneer before going back to his desk, working on whatever documents he had.

"You know," Neville whispered to Harry. "before you arrived, he already took points from Hufflepuff because we were speaking too loud."

"Looks like nothing changed here, even if we changed house, the man can't seem to see pass his hatred for us." Harry dejectedly said.

:-[T.A.B]-:

Later that day, Luna was happily hopping in the corridors, holding a book in her arms. While her friend Harry was training by himself in his room, the young blonde decided to explore the castle on her own. She already had severalconversations with a couple sets of armour and portraits for some direction but other than that, she was following her instinct more than anything.

She absolutely loved Hogwarts. It was everything her father and mother had told her. It was a place full of magic and wonder and for the first time in her young life, she was finally able to make some friends in Harry Potter and Hermione Granger.

"Stupefy!" a voice coming from behind her said. Luckily, due to her training with Harry, Luna managed to barely avoid the coming red spell. She saw four Slytherins students, wands pointed on her menacingly. Among them was Draco Malfoy, Harry's main rival at Hogwarts. Beside him were his two stooges, Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe. The young witch didn't know the fourth boy, only that he wore the green and silver of Slytherin and looked a lot like a troll.

"Cute dodge, blondie." said the older student. "Let see if you can dodge this! Tarantallegra!"

The spell burst from the student's wand, coming directly towards Luna's chest and thus, hitting her. She started dancing on the spot and became unable to stop. She still had her wand, however.

"Expelliarmus!" she said, jabbing her wand with all the strength her tiny body could muster. The red spell hit the older boy square in the face, making him fly against the wall quite violently. His head hit the stone wall and knocked him unconscious on the spot.

"Little bitch!" Malfoy snarled with venom, taking out his own wand from his pocket. "Petrificus Totalus!"

Since she could not move as she wanted, Luna simply danced away from the spell, managing to avoid it. She could not however avoid the second one and the third. The combined effect of the many spells that hit made her act like a duck and sing like an opera singer.

"Looks like the 'Claw doesn't know what to do!" the blonde wizard said, laughing at the poor girl, making his stooges laugh in derision like the primates that they were.

"Pleeeeeaaaase leave me aloooooone!" Luna said in her opera voice.

"What is going on here?" said a voice that Luna really didn't want to hear.

Professor Snape made his appearance, looking at the scene. In front of him was a first-year student doing the duck dance while singing at the top of her lungs and on the other side, three of his Slytherin who had wands out with one other unconscious.

"Professor! She attacked us! She banished Flint against the wall and knocked him out!" Malfoy exclaimed before Crabbe and Goyle nodded their head affirmatively.

"I see." Snape said simply, waving his wand over Luna, effectively making her stop dancing and singing. "What do you have to say for yourself, Lovegood?"

"I-I-I didn't do anything, Professor! I was just..." Luna tried to say but was interrupted by the Head of House.

"Enough. Mister Malfoy is an upstanding member of Hogwarts and is not one to attack a student without a justified provocation. You clearly did something to offend him and his friends. Thirty points from Ravenclaw for attacking a fellow student with your wand. You shall have a detention with me tomorrow at exactly eight sharp after supper. Do I make myself clear?"

"Y-Yes, professor." Luna said, barely holding back her tears. "M-May I please go, Professor Snape?"

The man nodded sharply to the blonde girl, effectively making her run in Ravenclaw Tower's direction.

:-[T.A.B]-:

Harry was coming out of his trunk for a quick shower after his hard training. He was near to mastering the Stupefy Spell wandlessly, effectively making him more dangerous in the event that his wand was not at hand. Finding his core in Westeros had been such a boon for him even to this day.

Suddenly, a soft knock was heard coming from his door, making him stop in his steps. Casting a quick Cleaning Charm on himself, Harry went to open the door and saw a tearful Luna, looking at him in despair.

"Luna! Wh-What's going on?" Harry asked, immediately taking her inside.

Luna didn't answer his question however. She simply went for a hug and cried in his arms. He never had a girl crying on him like this and didn't know what to do so Harry simply held her, while rubbing circles on her back with his hand.

"There, there Luna. Calm down, you're safe here." Harry tried. "Please tell me what is going on?"

Luna explained everything between sobs. She told him about being attacked from behind by a group of Slytherins which she told him who it was, making him scowl at the thought. The young girl continued by telling him the unfairness of Severus Snape, his detention and her loss of points for defending herself against four older students.

"I didn't know what to do! They attacked me without any warning and I just defended myself like we trained!"

"Did they hurt you?" Harry asked.

"Only with spells and nothing else." Luna said.

"Okay. Come with me to Professor Flitwick. He needs to know of the situation, I think." the young boy said, making his friend nod slowly at him.

After quickly walking from Harry's room to Flitwick's office, they knocked on the door together and waited a small moment for it to open magically. Harry and Luna both heard the professor's squeaky voice coming from inside telling them to come in. They did so and the young boy closed the door behind him.

"What may I do for you, Miss Lovegood and Mister Potter?" the diminutive being inquired, looking knowingly at Luna.

"Go on, Luna. Tell the Professor what you told me earlier." Harry encouraged softly.

Luna explained slowly to her Head of House what she'd been through with her being attacked by four students.

"Miss Lovegood, are you hungry?" Flitwick asked suddenly, changing the subject.

"Yes, a little." Luna answered, puzzled by the sudden question, removing the tears from her face.

The small professor squeaked some incantation and made some muffins dance around his desk and make their way to Harry and Luna who was starting to laugh at the display of magic. She managed to grabbed one and started munching on it happily, her legs swaying.

"This one contains a very mild calming draught made by Madam Pomfrey herself. It should help you calm down a little while also being delicious!" Filius squeaked, smiling. "Now, I think I understand the situation, Miss Lovegood. I will rescind the detention with Professor Snape altogether but it shall be at the price of the thirty points he took from Ravenclaw."

"Thank you, Professor Flitwick!" Luna exclaimed happily at her now new favorite teacher.

Both Harry and Luna took their leave and went for the door before being called out by the charms professor.

"Oh and Mister Potter?"

"Yes, Professor?"

"Thirty-five points to Ravenclaw for supporting a friend in need."

:-[T.A.B]-:

"I see Potter is using his influence on you, Flitwick." Severus said, his voice full of sarcasm. "He is now able to get his little liar of a friend out of detention by simply coming to your office. Impressive really."

"I highly doubt Miss Lovegood decided tonight to go on a stroll and attack Mister Flint and his friends, Severus." Filius said, crossing his hands on his desk. "From what I know of the girl, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Wanna know my theory?"

"I really don't..."

"My theory is that our young Mister Malfoy and company have all four decided to cause some mayhem and saw Miss Lovegood all by herself. Thinking she'd make an easy prey, they attacked her from behind but missed badly, causing her to counter-attack quite successfully if I read Madam Pomfrey's report on Mister Flint."

"This is outrageous. Mister Malfoy is..." the potion Master started before stopping seeing Flitwick simply raise his hand.

"I am not Albus, Severus. I know exactly what you and your little Slytherins do ever since you have started, graciously offering us your expertise in Potions. You are using your position as a professor to enforce your superiority on the student's population of this castle. Minerva and Albus may call that a rivalry, but I call it bullying."

"That... that's..."

"That is enough, yes." Filius squeaked, hopping down his chair and going to his door to indicate to Severus that it was time to go. "You can tell Mister Malfoy and his classmates that they lost ten points each and earned a detention with me tomorrow in the place of Miss Lovegood."

The Potions Master understood the message and with a huff of derision, nodded. He rose up slowly and went to the door before stopping in the doorway.

"You know his father won't like this, Filius."

"If I had care about what that bigot wanted me to do, I would either be dead or working in a circus like a beast. If Malfoy Senior has a problem in how I do my job here at Hogwarts, he can come and see me personally."

:-[T.A.B]-:

Remus Lupin did not know what to do. He was starting his second week of teaching at Hogwarts and he still hasn't approached Harry, the son of his best friend, James Potter. The man had thought for more than ten long years that Harry was safe somewhere.

What a shock he had received when he had learned that not only had Harry been living with the Dursleys for all of this time, now the young wizard was Declared of Age and was living alone, Merlin's knows where.

He needed to find a way to at least have a small relationship with him. The boy didn't know anything about his parents and would probably like his stories of them. Nodding to himself, Remus shored up his courage and nodded his decision made right at this moment. His took his courage with both hands and called a house-elf.

"Trotty, if you please?" Remus called out loud.

A small house-elf appeared in a flash, wearing the Hogwarts tunic made of table cloth.

"Mister Wolfy is wanting to speak with Trotty? Trotty is so happy!"

"Maybe later, Trotty. Where is Harry Potter right now?" the professor asked.

"Harry Potter is being inside the Birdies Tower." the creature answered before preparing to leave by snapping her fingers.

"Could you send a message to him for me, please?"

Trotty sighed at the request but accepted nonetheless like the good elf that he was. He popped away once the professor gave him a small letter to give the student.

"Now, all that is left is hope." Remus whispered to himself.

:-[September 8th, Tuesday, 1992]-:

Harry was surprised in the morning to find a letter on his bedtable, waiting for him. If he was honest with himself, he also felt a little violated that someone was able to come inside of his room, even to simply give him a letter. Opening it, the raven-haired boy started reading the piece of parchment, seeing it was from professor Lupin.

'To Harry James Potter,

Harry, I am sending you this letter not as your professor, but as someone who wishes to speak with you about your parents. You see, I was friends with the both of them when we were at Hogwarts, so many years ago. I am sending you this invitation to have tea with me tonight after your classes. You may bring your friends if you so wish to, I would be glad to get to know what kind of man you are becoming.

Yours,

Remus Lupin'

Harry put the letter on his desk and smiled to himself.

"A friend of my parents, huh? Maybe I can get some information about Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew."
