Justice Avengers: Yes it's just going to be Ty Lee. I can't write a harem fic cause I simply find it uncomfortable. I've never even read one.
And To the Guest: that's the whole point of Shinra's character, he's average asf. My advice, calm down and let the story play out if you're patient enough. If you're not, that's fine. "Chi Meets Chakra" has the trope you're looking for if you want to see the MC pop off right away.
Thanks to both of you and everyone else reading this so far.
THE AVATAR RETURNS
The entire village waited as the trio returned.
"Aang and Shinra are back!" The kids in the village all ran to meet them but Shinra didn't need a prophet to tell him they were in trouble with the adults.
Sokka stomped towards the trio in anger. "I knew it! You signalled the Fire Navy with that flare! You're leading them straight to us aren't you?"
"They didn't do anything wrong!" Katara got between Sokka and the two boys. "it was an accident"
"Still, he's got a right to think that way" Shinra scratched his neck. "You guys are at war and we pretty much just made you targets just cause we wanted to sightsee.. I'm sorry"
"Aha!" Sokka pointed. "The traitors confessed! Warriors away from the enemy! The foreigners are banished!"
"Sokka, you're making a mistake!" Katara tried to reason.
"No, I'm keeping my promise to dad" Sokka argued. "I'm protecting you from threats like them!"
"They are not our enemies!" Katara said. "Don't you see? Aang and Shinra brought something to this village that we haven't had in a long time. Fun!"
"Fun?!" Sokka looked at her in disbelief. "You can't fight firebenders with fun!"
"You should try it some time" Aang smiled.
"Would that even work?" Shinra furrowed his eyebrows.
"Get out of our village now!" Sokka glared at the two. "both of you!"
As much as the attitude annoyed him, Shinra understood and respected Sokka's intentions. He calmly nodded.
"Grandmother please" Katara begged. "Don't let Sokka do this"
"Katara you knew going on that ship was forbidden" Kanna shook her head. "I think it best if the outsiders leave"
"Fine! Then I'm banished too!" Katara pulled Shinra and Aang and started walking towards Appa. "C'mon, let's go!"
"Wait what?" Shinra looked at her.
"Where do you think you're going?" Sokka asked.
"To find a waterbender!" Katara shot back. "Aang's taking me to the North Pole and we're getting Shinra back home"
"We are?" Shinra looked at Aang who shrugged.
"Katara" Sokka called after her. "Would you really choose them over your tribe.. your own family?"
Katara stopped and thought it over.
"Katara.. I never knew my family but I know Sokka's right" Shinra spoke, looking directly at her. "Leaving them for us would be wrong"
"Yeah.. I don't wanna come between you and your family either" Aang agreed.
"So this is really goodbye?" Katara asked.
"Well we don't really have a choice" Shinra shrugged. "I'd love to stay but Ponytail Guy has spoken"
Sokka growled at the nickname while Katara gave a small smile.
"Where will you go?" Katara asked.
"Well I guess I'll just travel around and hope I find one of those cracks Gamatatsu was talking about" Shinra shrugged.
"I'll come with you" Aang offered. "After a stop at the Southern Air Temple.. my room probably needs some serious cleaning after all these years"
The two boys leapt onto Appa and prepared to leave.
"It was nice meeting everyone!" Aang said.
"Take care of yourselves" Shinra said and looked to Gran Gran. "Thanks for everything, Gran Gran"
Despite being currently upset, Kanna couldn't help but let herself smile. "Take care of yourself, child"
"Let's see your bison fly now, Air Boy" Sokka crossed his arms.
"C'mon Appa, you can do it" Aang encouraged the bison. "Yip yip"
Instead however, Appa tiredly stood up and started to walk.
"Yeah I thought so!" Sokka said smugly.
Shinra pulled a pellet out of his pouch and threw it directly at Sokka's head.
"Ow!"
A little girl began to cry and ran after Appa, but only stopped next to Katara. "Aang, Shinra don't go. I'll miss you"
"We'll miss you too" Shinra gave the girl a sad smile before Appa started walking further away.
"Katara" Kanna said to her granddaughter. "You'll berl better after you–"
"You happy now?!" Katara snapped. "There goes my one chance at being a waterbender!"
Kanna looked down and frowned as her granddaughter walked away.
Aang, Shinra and Appa were resting at an iceberg with three holes. Each took a hole and laid down in it. Apparently grunted.
"Yeah" Aang agreed. "I liked her too. What about you, Shinra?"
"Who? Katara?" Shinra asked as he twirled a kunai in his right hand. "yeah she was awesome"
Suddenly they both heard a noise. Turning around, they noticed...
"Isn't that one of those Fire Navy ships?" Shinra asked. Aang nodded.
"It looks like it's heading to the Village" Aang said.
"Oh shi–" Shinra shook his head. "We gotta go!"
"Appa, stay here!" Aang advised as he and Shinra jumped down from the holes.
"Let's go" Shinra instantly took off, running across the water. Aang was gliding right behind him.
Sokka had war paint on and stood ready at the front of the village to face the Fire Nation soldiers by himself. As the ship got closer, the rumbling alone destroyed his watchtower nearby.
"Oh man!" Sokka whined. Then the ship came into view... And it was massive.
"Oh man..." Sokka repeated.. this time in shock.
As the ship got closer it started to crack the village floor. Katara immediately helped a child get away from the cracks, turning back only to see Sokka was still standing right in the ship's path.
"Sokka! Get out of the way!!" She yelled.
Before he could however, the snow shifted under his feet and slid him safely away from the ship just as it stopped. The son of Hakoda readied his club as the door began to open, only to realize that it was falling dangerously close to him. Sokka ran and fell backwards, but ended up safe from being crushed by the giant door.
Out of the ship walked Prince Zuko dressed in armour and with two Fire Nation soldiers behind him.
Without much thought, Sokka charged at them with a scream, only to get his club kicked out of his hand by Zuko... And then get kicked off the gangway himself.
The villagers gasped at Sokka's easy (and embarrassing) defeat as more Fire Nation soldiers walked down to meet them. Once they got to the ground, Zuko faced the village.
"Where are you hiding him?" He asked but got no answer. The prince then grabbed Kanna, much to Katara's horror.
"He'd be about this age! Master of all elements!" Zuko elaborated. Still no response.
Zuko then pushed the elderly lady back to Katara and unleashed a wave of fire at the villagers who screamed in terror.
"I know you're hiding him!" The scarred prince glared at them.
Suddenly Sokka got back up, picked up his club and charged again, this time from behind. Unfortunately, Zuko threw the water tribe boy over his shoulder, causing him to land on his butt. Sokka was lucky enough to dive out of the way right as Zuko blasted fire at him, instantly throwing his boomerang at the prince who dodged it rather easily.
"Show no fear!" A little boy yelled and tossed Sokka a spear and Sokka once again charged at Zuko. The second he got close enough, Zuko broke his spear, snatched the handle and poked Sokka on the head three times. Zuko looked down at Sokka like he really expected at least a decent fight from him.
What Zuko didn't expect was for the boomerang to come back and hit him upside the head. That only angered the prince as he made blades of fire from his fists, clearly fed up with all this.
Before he could move however, something heavy hit him from behind, causing him to stumble forward. Turning around to look at what struck him, Zuko was faced with big star faced metallic object lying on the snow. Where had that come from?
"What in the world–"
Zuko's question had been cut short as the object dispersed into a puff of white smoke, only to be replaced with Shinra who immediately landed a hard punch to the side of Zuko's face, hard enough for the prince to stumble back a few feet.
Zuko looked up at his attacker with a glare. "Who are you?!"
"Why would I tell you?" Shinra tilted his head before noticing Zuko's scar. "Jeez, and I thought Sasuke's curse mark looked painful"
"Are you the Avatar?" Zuko pressed.
"The what?" Shinra looked at Zuko like he was speaking gibberish.
"Don't test me!" Zuko yelled. "Tell me who you are or–"
Once again his sentence was cut short as he was swept off the ground, this time by Aang riding a penguin, earning a laugh from Shinra.
"Hey, Katara. Hey, Sokka" Aang smiled at them.
"Aang, Shinra... Thanks for coming" Sokka said awkwardly.
Zuko then spread his troops out to surround the two boys who stood side by side. Aang instinctively used his staff to blow snow onto the firebenders.
"Looking for me?" Aang asked.
"You're the Airbender?" Zuko asked in disbelief. "You're the Avatar?"
"Aang?" Katara asked.
"No way" Sokka seemed dumbfounded.
"What is going on...?" Shinra asked himself.
"I've spent years training for this encounter" Zuko said, his eyes never leaving Aang. "You're just a child!"
"If we're stating the obvious then you're just a teenager" Shinra looked him over.
"Who are you, peasant?" Zuko glared at him.
"Come over here and find out" The Chūnin mouthed back.
That seemed to do it as Zuko sent a blast of fire at Shinra who instantly weaved out of the way.
'okay, so firebenders don't use hand signs either... Noted'
Shinra weaved a couple more blasts from Zuko by running in zigzag before deciding to go on offense. He immediately sped towards the prince who panicked at how close Shinra was getting.
Zuko instantly created a ring of fire around himself, only for Shinra to leap over it and land a kick to Zuko's chest.
The Fire Nation prince stumbled back so hard he fell on his butt, only fueling his anger. Who the heck was this brat?
The other soldiers immediately got in stances and some brandished their spears.
"Aang, I'll let you handle Ponytail over there" Shinra reached into the pouch fastened to his back pocket and pulled out two kunais, holding them in a reversed grip. "I'll get the soldiers off your back"
Right as he finished speaking, a soldier sent a blast of fire at him. Shinra however jumped out of the way once again and sped towards the soldier, dodging each fire blast relatively easily. He threw the kunai in his left hand at the soldier at such a speed that he was barely able to dodge it. Once Shinra got close enough, the masked soldier shot one more blast of fire at him which he ducked, immediately sending a hard uppercut to the man's chin and knocking his mask off.
Sokka and Katara winced at the sight as the soldier flew back a few feet and landed unconscious. That definitely hurt.
Another soldier approached with a spear in hand and thrust it at Shinra who once again, dodged quite easily. The boy the moved to block the spear with the one kunai he still had and immediately kicked the soldier in the gut, sending him several feet backwards.. specifically right next to where his first kunai landed. Shinra couldn't help but smirk.
The inanimate weapon immediately turned into a puff of white smoke, revealing one of Shinra's clones and startling the soldier. The copy immediately picked the man up, throwing him a few feet in the air and the original leapt up after him, kicking the soldier back down onto the snow.
Shinra looked over at his friends to see Zuko firing blasts at Aang who constantly deflected by twirling his staff. By the way that was looking, Aang could only keep that up for so long before he or someone else got hurt.
Shinra's eyes went wide as one of Zuko's blasts went dangerously close to the innocent villagers.
"Oh hell no" Shinra immediately weaved the hand signs for the lightning blade and immediately gripped his right arm with his left, triggering the lightning technique to come to life in his open hand.
The high pitched chirp pierced through the air and caught everyone's attention. One could imagine the look on the faces of Aang and Zuko when they saw Shinra wielding literal lightning... Particularly Zuko.
"This... Feeling..." Kanna whispered to herself. That single bolt of lightning seemed to have more power behind it than any firebending she'd seen.
Eyes fixed on the Fire Nation prince, the young ninja was about to rush towards him when–
"Shinra wait!" Aang yelled, placing his hands in front of this. "We can't cause any more destruction to this place"
"If I go with you, will you leave them alone?" Aang turned to Zuko.
"On the condition that the lightning bender comes with us" Zuko pointed to Shinra.
The leaf ninja glared at Zuko for a second before looking around at everyone. He let out a sigh and banished the lightning blade in his hand. "Fine"
The soldiers that were still conscious grabbed Shinra and Aang, leading them both to the ship.
"Aang, Shinra don't do this!" Katara called after them. "You don't have to!"
"It's only fair, Katara" Shinra admitted. "It's our fault they came here to begin with"
"Take care of Appa for me until we get back!" Aang called out as both boys were lead up the gangway.
"Quit shoving me" Shinra grumbled at the soldier who held him.
"Head a course for the Fire Nation!" Zuko ordered. "I'm going home"
As the ship's door closed, Shinra saw Katara's worried look and gave her a small smile as some silent form of reassurance.
About an hour later, the villagers were trying to repair what the Fire Nation soldiers and Zuko had damaged.
"We have to go after that ship, Sokka" Katara spoke, looking out in the direction the ship had gone. "Aang and Shinra saved our tribe so we have to save him"
"Katara I–" Sokka started.
"Why can't you realize that they're on our side?!" Katara kept going. "If we don't save them, no one will! I know you don't like either of them but–"
"Katara!" Sokka pointed at the canoe next to him. "Are you gonna talk all day or are you coming with me?"
Katara gasped and ran over to give her brother a hug.
"Get in, we're going to save your boyfriend" Sokka said. "And probably secondary love interest in a weird love triangle"
"Neither of them are my boyfriend!" Katara glared at him.
"What do you two think you're doing?" Kanna walked up to her grandchildren before holding out a pair of sleeping bags. "you'll need these. You have a long journey ahead of you"
"It's been so long since I've had hope. But you brought it back to life, my little waterbender" Kanna hugged Katara.
"And you, my brave warrior," Kanna did the same with Sokka. "Be nice to your sister"
"Yeah, okay Gran" Sokka hugged her back.
"Aang is the Avatar" Kanna spoke to them both. "He's the world's only chance. You both found him for a reason. And Shinra... He comes another world, and from what I've seen he possesses great power, power enough to rival the Avatar. He ended up here for a reason as well. Your destinies are conjoined with theirs"
"There's no way we're going to catch a war ship with a canoe" Katara pointed out.
Suddenly, Appa came into view, probably looking for Aang and Shinra.
"Appa!" Katara smiled as she ran towards him.
"You just love taking me out of my comfort zone, don't ya?" Sokka complained as he walked after her.
–
"This staff would make an excellent gift for my father" Zuko said once they were in the ship. "I suppose you wouldn't know of fathers, being raised by monks"
"And you" Zuko turned to Shinra who seemed bored out of his mind. "Why would a firebender stoop so low as to defend water tribe peasants?"
"Just cause I use lightning, that doesn't make me a firebender" Shinra replied.
"And there are reports of you multiplying yourself" Zuko raised an eyebrow. "What kind of magic is that?"
"I have no reason to explain my abilities to you" Shinra maintained his facial expression, something he'd unknowingly picked up from Sasuke. Zuko growled.
"Take the Avatar and the traitor to the prison hold" He ordered and handed his uncle the staff. "And take this to my quarters"
"You mind taking this This to his quarters for me?" Iroh handed the staff to a soldier.
The soldiers then pushed both boys down a staircase at the bottom of the ship.
"So I guess you've never fought an Airbender or a Ninja before" Aang taunted. "I bet we both could take you with our hands tied"
"Aang, what're you doing?" Shinra whispered. I mean, he wasn't wrong but why was Aang saying it?
"Silence" The soldier in front of them said.
Shinra then disappeared in a puff of smoke.
A loud chirp was all that was heard as the actual Shinra dropped from the ceiling, lightning blade in hand as he descended on the soldier at the front, electrocuting him and effectively knocking him out.
Aang wasted no time, he exhaled hard enough to blast the soldier behind him backwards against the wall.
"C'mon" Shinra cut Aang's bindings with one of his kunais.
"How'd you do that?" Aang looked at him.
"There's some secrets ninjas just have to keep" Shinra replied. "We gotta move"
Aang nodded and the two leapt back into the main deck.
They kept running through the halls of the Fire Nation ship, looking for Aang's staff.
"How big is this thing?!" Shinra complained.
Just then, they ran into a group of soldiers, all armed with swords.
"You haven't seen my staff around, have you?" Aang asked politely. Shinra let out a groan as he placed his fingers into the cross sign, summoning three clones. Aang quite literally ran circles around the soldiers while Shinra ducked, slid right between their legs and kept running, letting the clones deal with them.
The two then came across a soldier who was empty handed. As Shinra guessed, this one was a firebender. Without much thought, he applied chakra to his feet and sped towards the soldier, ducked under the fire blast and struck right in the soldier's gut. Shinra quickly followed with an uppercut and a spinning hook kick for good measure, sending the soldier crashing onto the wall.
The duo kept running and opening every door they saw in hopes of finding the staff. However one door that they opened revealed Iroh who was asleep. Shinra instantly covered his mouth so as not to wake the elderly man.
"Sorry" Aang whispered, gently closing the door.
They kept running till Aang passed an open door. Shinra looked in and called back to Aang.
"Aang, here it is!"
The Airbender was about to walk into the room but Shinra held him back.
"Wait a minute" the chunin spoke.
"What?" Aang looked at him.
"It's just sitting there and we haven't seen Ponytail yet?" Shinra asked. "Nah, I smell a trap"
As if to prove his point, Zuko walked out from behind the door.
"You're smarter than most" Zuko looked at Shinra. "I won't underestimate either of you again"
With that, the prince sent a blast of fire at the two who dodged in two different directions. Shinra stuck his feet to the metal walls of the hallway, ready to jump back at Zuko but the prince seemed more focused on Aang.
Even better.
Aang kept dodging and deflecting Zuko's attacks while Shinra summoned a clone to help the Airbender out as he sped into Zuko's room, immediately grabbing the staff.
"Aang!" Shinra caught the boy's attention and tossed him his staff. Zuko opted to take the opportunity from Aang's distraction but he was hit with a spinning backfist from Shinra's clone.
Once he was stunned enough, Aang used his staff to blast Zuko with air, sending him into the metal wall twice.
Shinra and Aang quickly took advantage of this and ran once again, exiting through the Captain's room.
"Shinra grab on!" Aang opened his his glider.
The leaf ninja had no time to question it as he immediately took hold of the glider right as Aang dove off the ledge and sent them airborne...
... Or they would've been airborne if Zuko hadn't jumped off as well and latched onto Shinra's leg to pull them down.
"What in the fu-" Shinra cried out in alarm, immediately kicking at Zuko with his other leg. "Get... Off... Me!"
The constant shaking coupled with the weight of an extra passenger caused Aang to lose balance and start falling.
As all three hit the main deck, Shinra immediately rolled and got back to his feet. "Do you ever give up?"
Instead of answering, Zuko got into a fighting stance and Shinra instantly did the same. Aang immediately followed suit afterwards qnd Zuko was about to attack till they heard a noise in the distance.
"What is that?" Zuko asked in confusion.
Turning to look at the source of the sound, Shinra instantly recognized the flying creature. "Yo, it's Appa!"
Without warning, Zuko started sending blasts of fire at both Aang and Shinra simultaneously. Luckily Shinra's reaction speed was faster than the average human, causing him to dodge remarkably fast.
The boy then turned his attention back to Zuko and summoned two clones who instantly charged at the Prince. Zuko sent a wave of fire at them both which only managed to take out one clone. The other and the original Shinra still advanced closer, easily dodging the blasts.
"Step aside, traitor" Zuko glared at him. "The Avatar is my main concern"
"Wow I didn't notice" Shinra spat before dropping to the floor and sweeping Zuko's legs, causing the 16 year old to fall on his back. Enraged even further, Zuko instantly sent a blast from his feet right at Shinra who was quick enough to dive out of the way.. except he dove a little too close to the ship's edge and caught himself before he lost balance.
Turning to face his enemies, he was currently faced with a couple of soldiers.. firebenders judging by their stances.
"Oh boy..."
Shinra was about to move before his clone grabbed a soldier from behind and pulled the man into a suplex, the clang of the man's armor hitting the deck was loud enough to get Zuko's attention.
The second soldier faced the original Shinra and braced to send a wave of fire at him. Without much thought, Shinra's hands moved at almost inhuman speed, weaving a set of hand signs for a thunderclap arrow.
Both Shinra and the soldier thrust their arms at the same time and instead of lightning to clash with the man's fire... What expelled from Shinra's hands was actually air, shot out in multiple small bullets. They immediately dispelled the man's fire and shot right at him with enough force to send him flying to the other side of the deck.
"I can use wind release...?" Shinra looked down at his hands in disbelief before a smile grew on his face. "I can use wind release!!!"
Unfortunately that single moment of distraction would cost him as Zuko immediately sent a blast of fire at him, causing Shinra to jump back to dodge.. except there was nowhere to jump to as he was still at the edge and he slipped before he could remember that, falling off the ship and into the freezing water below.
As hard as Shinra tried to flail his arms and somewhat swim back upwards, he felt himself getting pulled deeper and deeper into the water, causing the sunlight at the surface to get farther from reach.. he could hear Katara's muffled screams as she called out to him and Aang.
Just as he felt himself start to black out, Shinra felt a familiar spark of heat in the pit of his stomach.
That Goddamn Fox...
Shinra burst back out of the water shrouded with the nine tails' red chakra with the same fox features from the fight with Sasuke and this time, a single tail behind him as he landed on the deck at the exact same time as Aang who had his tattoos glowing and seemed to be bending water.
Zuko looked between both of them in shock.. what kind of sorcery was this??
The Avatar and the Jinchuriki shared a brief moment of eye contact as if silently agreeing on something before Aang took out a good amount of soldiers, including Zuko himself with a cyclone of water.
Shinra instinctively made the bird sign, clasped both hands together and then thrust them forward, sending a high pressured burst of air at those remaining on the ship and knocking them off.
"Did you see what they just did?!" Katara asked her brother from their position on Appa.
"Now that was some waterbending" Sokka nodded before realizing. "... And did Shinra just airbend?!"
Aang's tattoos stopped glowing and he almost fell over, only to be caught by Shinra who seemed to be detransforming as well.
"Aang! Shinra... Are you guys okay?" Katara called out to them as she and Sokka ran towards them.
"Definitely tired, but we'll live" Shinra answered softly.
"I have so many questions..." Sokka started.
"I think we should get out of here first" Katara suggested and Shinra nodded in agreement.
"I dropped my staff" Aang spoke finally.
"I got it" Sokka ran to the staff, only for Zuko to grab onto the other end, much to Sokka's horror. The son of Hakoda immediately poked Zuko's head three times in revenge for his earlier embarrassment, causing Zuko to let go and fall once again. "That's from the water tribe!"
As they all rushed to Appa just as the soldiers started to stand up.
Shinra was about to summon a few clones till he saw Katara about to use her waterbending. The girl waved her hands in their direction but ended up freezing Sokka in place instead.
"Katara!" Her brother complained.
Katara closed her eyes and tried again, this time successfully freezing them in place.
"Yeah!" Shinra had a proud smile on his face.
"Sokka, let's go!" Katara called out as they all climbed onto Appa.
"I'm just a guy with a boomerang" Sokka complained as he kept hitting the ice with his boomerang. "I didn't ask for all this flying and magic or weird 'ninja' stuff"
The water tribe boy finally broke himself free and boarded Appa along with the others.
"Appa, Yip yip!" Shinra called out urgently. The bison immediately took off into the sky, though Shinra kept his eyes on the ship below just in case they got attacked from behind and sure enough, Zuko and his uncle had shot fireballs at them.
He was just about to step forward when Aang placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him. The Airbender got up, took in a breath and swung his staff at the incoming projectile, causing a gust of air to send the fireball into the ice wall next to the ship, causing half of the wall to crash on the ship.
"Great news for the Fire lord," Iroh commented. "the Fire Nation's biggest threats are two kids"
"For starters, the Fire Nation has no idea that one of those threats are of our own nation" Zuko stated before gesturing to the damaged ship. "Also those kids just did this. I won't underestimate either of them again"
"How did you do that?! With the water and the
Airbending!" Katara looked between both boys hours later as they flew. "It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!"
"I don't know, I guess I just sort of... Did it" Aang shrugged.
"Shinra, what was that back on the ship?" Katara looked at him. "You looked..."
"Feral" Sokka stated simply, earning a glare from his sister.
"It's a long, complicated story" Shinra looked at his laps with a sad smile, playing with his black hair. "As for the wind... I didn't even think I could do that, I used the air bullets by complete accident. I guess wind release was dormant in me this whole time"
"So you can use two elements?" Aang looked at him in shock.
"Looks like it" the ninja shrugged. "Some people back home have all five"
"Five??" Sokka looked at Shinra weirdly.
"Water, Earth, Fire, Wind and Lightning" Shinra counted on one finger.
"So in your world, lightning is a separate element" Aang asked just to clarify.
"Exactly" Shinra nodded.
Katara knew there was something more to what they saw earlier... something that bothered Shinra. She made a mental note to ask him about it later.
"Why didn't you tell us you were the Avatar?" Katara turned to Aang.
"Cause I never wanted to be" Aang admitted.
Shinra nodded silently in understanding. He could completely relate to Aang on that. He'd been walking around with a dangerous and massive creature in his body all his life.
"But the world has been waiting for the Avatar to end this war" Katara explained.
"And how am I going to do that?" Aang asked.
"Well according to legend, you first need to master water, then earth, then fire right?" Katara asked.
"That's what the monks told me" Aang nodded.
"So if we head to the north pole, we can master waterbending" Katara suggested.
"We can learn it together" Aang smiled. "And Shinra, on the way we could find you a way home that won't drain you"
"I would honestly appreciate that" Shinra nodded. He didn't have an insane chakra pool like Naruto did so this was a good alternative. "But I also wanna help with this war as much as I can before heading back"
"Glad to hear it" Katara gave him a genuine smile. "And Sokka, I'm sure you'll get to knock sine firebender heads on the way"
"I'd really like that" Sokka smiled.
"Then we're in this together" Katara looked around. Shinra smiled and couldn't resist the urge to add something Kakashi had always hammered into his head.
"Well then we're an official team" He nodded. "I was taught that those who break rules are scum.. but those who abandon their friends are far worse than scum. So I promise this... On my big sister... I will never abandon you guys when you need me"
Shinra had to purse his lips to keep himself from saying "that's my ninja way" at the end of that sentence. He really was starting to pick up Naruto's quirks.
"We'll never abandon you either" Katara nodded at him with a big smile.
"Now before going to the Northern Water Tribe, we have some serious business to attend to" Aang explained, pulling out a map. "Here, we'll ride the hog monkeys.. they don't like people riding them, but that's what makes it fun!..."
As Aang kept listing mini vacations, Shinra couldn't help but laugh to himself. He and Aang would definitely get along.
As they flew further, he couldn't help but think about things back home. Reaching into his T-shirt, he felt the metal of his necklace against his chest. It was one Grandma Fifth had made for him as a present.
Shinra let out a sigh as he looked up at the gold colored sky. He needed to find a way back home, but he definitely would do his part to help this world find peace in the meantime.
It was something he and his best friend had agreed on after their first mission...
... Their Ninja way.
