Chapter 10: Secrets and Discoveries
"Hiccup! Hiccup, can you hear us?" Hicca's voice asked with worry. "Come on, Hiccup, stay with us." Blóm's voice said. "Come on, kid, wake up. Wake up." The Night Fury's voice said. Hiccup groaned as he started to recover. He opened his eyes to see his sister, friends and the Furies looking down at him. "Hiccup, you're okay." Hicca said with relief. "Finally. I thought you'd never wake up." The Night Fury said. "Oh, great. Now I'm going crazy. First, I start feeling the presence of Dragons when they're close by. Then I started reading their emotions. And now this." Hiccup said as he stood up and started pacing. "Hiccup, calm down. What're you talking about?" Hicca asked. "After I touched the Night Fury, he started talking." Hiccup said. "Talking? But we didn't hear anything." Hylli said.
"Hold on. You said you could feel the presence of Dragons and read their emotions?" The Night Fury asked. Hiccup nodded. "How?" The Night Fury asked. Hiccup sighs as he pulled the bracer off his arm, revealing his scar. The Furies gasped in shock. "Is that a…" The Night Fury started to ask. "Yes. It's a Dragon slash mark. I got it when my sister and I were 3-years-old. We were playing by the edge of the forest when it happened. A bloodied Dragon came out of the woods and attacked us. I rushed in to protect my sister, but it slashed me in the arm. Our father and a few other villagers saw this and hurried over, killing the Dragon. But what they didn't know was that the Dragon's blood had seeped into my arm through my wound and mixed with mine. Since then, I've started feeling the presence of other Dragons whenever they're close to me. After a while, I started being able to read their emotions. And now, I'm talking to a Dragon. I think I'm finally losing my mind." Hiccup explained.
Just then, the Night Fury realized. "Wait a minute! That's it! You have Dragon blood in you, but it's strongest in your right arm. When you touched me with it, you started to hear me talk." He explained. "So, that means…any Dragon I touch with my right hand…" Hiccup started to say. "You'll be able to hear their voice and communicate with them." The Night Fury finished. The young boy and Dragon remained silent for a few minutes, letting their new discovery sink in. "I'm assuming your silence means you've figured out what's going on?" Hicca asked, breaking the silence. "Apparently, the Dragon blood in my right arm allows me to communicate with any Dragon I touch with it. That's why I started hearing the Night Fury's voice after I touched him." Hiccup explained. Hicca and the Styrkarssons were shocked to hear that. "So, what do we do now?" The Night Fury asked. "I think we should go back to our village and sleep on this new information. Tomorrow, we'll come back and bring you and your friends some breakfast and take it from there. Sound good?" Hiccup asked. The Furies all nodded in agreement.
As Hiccup, Hicca and the Styrkarssons started to leave the cove, Hiccup stopped in his steps as he felt a strange, yet familiar power nearby. He looked over at an old tree. Being curious, he walked over to the tree and examined it. After spotting a big hole in the stump, he reached inside and felt around until he found something. He pulled it out and revealed it to be a strange crystal necklace. "What is this thing?" He asked. Just then, the crystal started to glow brightly as he was shown a vision.
[Vision]
Ancient Vikings of the past stormed onto some unknown shores as their chief shouted, leading them into battle against some dark shadow warriors. In the midst of battle, the Norse Gods, led by Odin, Thor and Brunhilda, aided the Vikings with their armies of the Nine Realms. Just then, herds of Dragons dove down from the sky and joined the fight against the shadow warriors. A flock of Furies flew in, being rode by humanoid Dragons. One of them, who wore the crystal around his neck, flew on a Night Fury, wielding a sword of fire, and let out a loud roar, leading his armies to victory.
[Vision End]
Hiccup shook off the effects as the vision ended. He looked stunned at the crystal before hiding it in his vest. As he left to catch up with his sister and the Styrkarssons, he and the Night Fury had the exact same thought surge through their minds. 'I guess life just got a bit more interesting.'
Well, how was that for a little extra? After Hiccup recovered from fainting, he revealed his scar to the Furies, who deduced that Hiccup can communicate with Dragons whenever he touches them with his scarred hand. But as he, Hicca and the Styrkarssons started to leave, he discovered a crystal necklace that showed him a vision, discovering that Vikings, Dragons, the Norse Gods and even humanoid Dragons used to fight side-by-side centuries ago. But what discoveries will Hiccup make with this new information? Will he be able to help his new Night Fury friend take flight again? Leave a review if you want.
