The first thing Relon felt was the rushing wind rolling off his descending body. Then his vision blurred back into focus. The cascading lights, the gentle tones of distant ambience the countless crowds made, the night sky illuminated in; he took it all in. The same as the last time.

He needed to find Rappa and Sparkle. He needed to find his friends.

Eyes opening, he righted himself with a flip. Familiar power emanating in gold, he extended his hand towards a skyscraper. Out from his palm came a golden chain as it latched onto a railing.

Down and around the structure he swung. Releasing before shooting off another chain he smiled at the faint, yet familiar, sound of singing far off in the glowing distance. It was a distinct voice he recognized all too well.

Touching down on a roof, he awed at the spectacle. Countless spectators chanted, raving in unison with glow sticks at the performing singer.

Immediately, he noticed the difference was so slight yet distinguishable. That alone made Relon smirk. Settling down on edge, he idly listened. He could tell by the tempo of the song that it was likely nearing its end.

The dancer's voice, her movement was full of energy constantly on the move. There were few moments of calmness, instead it seemed as though the singer was trying to overtake the audience. The competitive synergy made the live performance something unique.

Unfortunately, as with all music, it eventually came to an end. Rising as the singer waved and spoke their thanks, he leaned off to free fall before swinging towards the backstage.

Landing, he only had to look at the guards with a wave in greeting before they allowed him through. Oh how nice it was to be friends with celebrities. Moving down the hall, he stopped at a dressing room with a specific name on it. Knocking to receive no answer, he allowed himself inside to park at the small table where make-up lied.

Within minutes, his head perked at the knob turn hearing a content sigh escape.

"Jeez, how does she do… it?" There a woman looked, dumbfounded to the smiling male. She was a young woman with lilac-silver hair reaching her hips and green eyes. From her head, two small, white, wings lied. Her attire was a white dress with a strip of violet.

"Sup," he grinned, giving a quick lift of his head in greeting. "You've gotten better at helping out Robin I see."

He could see the circuits in her brain begin to connect as her mouth slowly arched into a grin. Then without warning she leaped.

"Relon!"

"Whoa!" He exclaimed, rushing to catch her only to fumble backwards from her weight. "Oof!" he winced, opening an eye to notice her red and white fox mask fall. With it, so too did her illusion.

No longer did the woman matching his height lean over him. Now hovered a petite young woman clad in a red kimono with dark brown hair tied into two high pigtails ending with burgundy tips while held by red ties.

"Happy to see you too, Sparkle."

Grinning from ear to ear, she only giggled not moving as he had to avert his gaze from her cleavage in such close proximity. Of course, that action was his first mistake as she quickly took notice.

"Did ya miss me that much? You must have to surprise me like this, teehee~," she giggled, leaning closer as he awkwardly chuckled while struggling to not look.

"Y-Yeah. Hey, mind, uh, getting off?"

Sparkle was a master of many things, teasing being one. He was thankful to be cared so deeply by the girl but that in turn led to some interesting circumstances as the one he found himself in.

"No need to be bashful, Relon. It's just us~. Or do you wanna wake up and bring Silver Wolfy into the mix?"

"As tempting as that is, right now isn't the best time Sparkle," he managed after a gulp, lifting himself and the girl up. As he did, she casually wrapped her legs around his lower back as he dumbly held her.

It was dangerous how wild she could be when she was arguably best friends with Silver Wolf. Even more so given the whole family issue that she didn't yet know about. Though he knew she wouldn't actually cross that line.

Sparkle cherished both himself and Silver Wolf immensely to the point she willingly left the Masked Fools. An organization whose belief was that all truths were a farce, only to be laughed at. Yet Sparkle, one of their most valued members, gave it all up after a fateful encounter with Relon himself and Silver Wolf.

Never in her life had she honestly claimed any as "friends." From a young age, Sparkle lived life from day to day, dull moment after dull moment. A repetition feeling blotted in gray if one had to place a color on it.

Then she was exposed to laughter, the emotion that bubbled within allowed her to smile. It allowed her to feel genuine happiness. The world in her eyes gained color. Once bleak and nonexistent moments now housed moments of interest that she had dared not pay any mind to before.

More and more her fascination grew and with it, the urge to experience an even greater rush of happiness, of amusement blossomed. Then she met them, or rather they found her.

The Masked Fools.

She had found people that saw what she saw, laughed for the same reason as she did. Just because.

That alone filled an empty void once believed to be forever lifeless. Then they met, their paths clashed.

A girl who enjoyed watching life do whatever twists and turns it did unto others met a pair who laughed not at the misfortune of others but simply to laugh in a positive light. It was new, it was different. Yet, it was a new unknown to Sparkle.

Why were they laughing? What type of blasphemy was this? She had gained new eyes to see, to dissect the mayhem that made her joy erupt into unexplainable bliss. Then the two before her laughed not because of any negatives, far from it. They were laughing out of genuine positivity.

They were happy.

Two individuals, likely a couple by the way they acted, were happy. They weren't acting within the same monotonous stage Sparkle had seen every other boring person live. It was ironic in a way. The cause behind her own life unraveling of perspective was a man that shitted on others as if he stood on a higher totem became the shitee from a passing bird. It was even more ironic as it was a new suit he had recently gotten.

Now two people were happy not over misfortune, mainly because it was absent, but over the other. She had to know more.

So she followed them. With her skills, tailing the duo was child's play. Around and around they went until they landed at a theater. Only then did they make their own awareness of her presence known.

She was at a loss for words. They revealed they had known of her following them since the very beginning.

All she could do was ask them why? Screw how they knew, she wanted to know why they let her.

"Simple."

What was so simple?

"You seemed lonely so we wanted to show you something."

She had no clue what until the lights came on.

That was when her eyes basked on the performance that played. Characters seemingly destined for misfortune wallowed in their defeat but through the bonds made and the opportunities once missed returning, each story believed to end in loss and sorrow became filled with joy but even more so… laughter.

Such a thing could not have been done alone. It was impossible. She was enraptured by the performance as well as the countless layers that filled her mind with meanings. Like an onion, as the play continued, she simply began to peel each one away.

Why had they done this? For what purpose would this action serve? Would they be happy with this decision? Would they regret going down this path. But most of all…

Why were they able to laugh so spur-of-the-moment? So carefree?

Their own laughter versus hers were so different. Once more she felt inferior and yet unlike her past self, Sparkle was okay with this feeling this time around. It was a weird admission to herself to accept.

Then the performance and songs woven into a masterpiece in her eyes ceased. The crowd applauded and the couple vanished. So lost at the sudden shift yet again, she could only stare dumbly at the duo sporting kind smiles.

Smiles directed at her.

"That look suits you more," the boy smiled.

She hadn't even realized the look of awe she wore, unable to come undone. No chaos could match the sheer, unfathomable, awe that coursed throughout her body.

"Yeah, it looks good on you. Almost as if you've never seen a play before."

In hindsight, she hadn't. She never paid attention, a con to her ever moving, ever searching, hunger for amusing chaos.

A girl who one would think wealth, status, or power were her goals but no. Only the amusement that life brought. Yet through these very two people did she grasp a newfound meaning that she would cling to and dare not let go. One that made the appeal of laughter nearly lose its meaning, but even more its value.

"My name's Relon. Relon Lucinance."

"The name's Eina. Future Eina Lucinance if we're adding surnames but that's a drag. Anyway, what's yours?"

"... Sparkle."

"Huh, nice. And simple. I like it."

"It's a lovely name. Alright then, Sparkle, wanna be friends?"

And that epiphany was the meaning of friendship.
