A/N: Hi everyone! I've got no excuse for how late this is. I've got no solid plan to keep posting consistently, but I have another two updates after this one, that will come out on Wednesday as per usual. I want to promise you that I'm going to work hard on this, but I don't know if I can. Life happens people, and I have a lot of it outside of fanfiction. So while there might be long waits between updates I promise you I'm not giving up.

To the person/people flaming the story in Spanish. Since you're doing it as a guest I can't PM you, so I'll address your concerns here. I understand you don't like how long this story is, that you feel like the "magic essence" is gone, that's fine. But for both my mental health and yours, you really need to stop reading this story. Cause I'm not done, there are SO MANY MORE chapters coming (Eventually), and if that is upsetting you enough to the point where you feel the need to leave me messages in a language I have to google translate to read, you shouldn't be subjecting yourself to it. Thanks for being here as long as you have, I appreciate it, I do, but I think this is where we should part ways.

For everyone else… Thanks for sticking with me through the ongoing rollercoaster. I have this season to finish, season 9 and season 10 – which will both get a lot of heavy rewrites/deviations to the actual plot. Then, after that I got a whole epilogue story that I plan to post. I know that's long, but I promise I will make it worth your while.

Thanks to everyone who's still supporting this story, you are all my rocks!

Please enjoy this update and I'll see you guys next week!

Chapter 450

Tani had had a nice morning. Mostly.

Con had slept over the night before. He had made them breakfast in the morning. They were supposed to go to the beach, they were going to pull what he called a McGarrett, which was he'd stay on the beach to watch her as she got to surf, like Steve and Rowan did. But that didn't happen.

Their day had been derailed when Rowan had called. Tani wasn't even sure what the emergency was. Just that he went from cuddled with her in bed to dressed, that phone nestled between his ear and his shoulder, heading out the door without saying anything other than: "Sorry, sister needs me, you understand," and then he was gone.

Tani was disappointed. She was mad. But she decided not to let it ruin her day. She could argue with Con whenever he decided to come back, because he always did.

She went out surfing without him. She caught some good waves, and when she had had her fill of the ocean she went back home.

She had sort of hoped that Con would be there waiting for her, like he sometimes was. But she didn't see him waiting out on the porch, nor did she see the Audi he was borrowing from Wo parked near-by. Still, she held up hope that he was just waiting inside. He very frequently broke into her house to wait for her. She was beyond caring. She kept offering him a key, but he had more fun breaking in.

She had just gotten off her Vespa, was about to go inside and check if her boyfriend was inside when a call of: "Miss Rey?" stopped her in her tracks.

When she turned around two men in black suits were approaching her. They definitely looked government official, so she wasn't too surprised when she spotted badges in their hands.

One was a tall pale man with strawberry blonde hair, while the other was a little darker, bald, but with a hint of dark stubble already growing out of the freshly shaved chin. Both were in the official government spook black suits.

"I'm special Agent Douglas Fischer," the one with the strawberry hair said. "This my colleague, Agent McNeal." At that both of them presented her with their badges. She nodded at them which prompted Fischer to continue. "We're part of the new FBI task force on organized crime."

"Oh right. We were told about your mission brief. Five-0's totally committed to help out any way we can."

"That's good to hear because we have something to ask you."

Excitement buzzed in her. Helping an FBI task force could be good for her career. Good practice for Five-0 too. "What is it?"

"We're examining a timeline of the recent violence, seeing if we can identify what started it all," McNeal said.

Fischer nodded. "Seems like things really ramped up about six weeks ago, around the time Adam Noshimuri returned to the island."

Now she was less excited. "I'm going to be honest, I'm not really liking where this is going."

Agent Fischer had the good grace to look a little apologetic, Agent McNeal didn't feel that way at all, clearly.

"But you're aware of Mr. Noshimuri's very personal connection with the Yakuza, are you not?"

"I'm aware it was my understanding that he's turned his back on that world," she said, her eyes narrowed into a challenging glare.

"That's what Commander McGarrett told you?" Fischer asked. Tani nodded. "Just to be clear, I have immense respect for Commander McGarrett but… but he can't be objective in this matter. He's blinded by his personal relationship with Mr. Noshimuri. With an investigation of this sale, with this much at stake, I have a responsibility to investigate absolutely every lead. And that very much includes Adam Noshimuri."

"So, to be clear, you came over to my house to ask me to spy on my boss for you?"

At that McNeal moved forward. She didn't like his vibe, there was some kind of dangerous edge to him that put her at an unease. "All we're asking for is your impartial perspective. Anything to do with Mr. Noshimuri, you listen, you observe, you report back to us."

When she seemed less then impressed by his clarification Fischer, clearly the leader out of the two, moved to get her attention again.

"Look, I'm aware you just got your badge with Five-0. But doing a favour like this for the Bureau could really mean a lot of opportunities for somebody like you." He paused to hand her his card. She took it only to be polite, and so she knew who to point the finger at. "Why don't you think about it?"

She waited, watching as they left and returned to their own car. She knew she'd have to call McGarrett about this, and she would once she was back inside.

Con wasn't waiting for her like she had hoped he would be. Seemed like today was going to be filled with all sorts of disappointments.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Steve was up and standing the second the agent opened the door for him. As he entered the meeting room, he was distinctly aware that the smiles both men were wearing were strained. Even Steve's was strained.

The truth was he was not in a good mood. He had a lot to deal with and the new FBI task force muscling in on his team and his friends was not something he needed added to his plate.

He moved towards the man he knew to be the leader, leaving Agent McNeal behind him. Agent Fisher was a bit taller then him, but much skinnier. Her reddish-blonde hair was what Con would call perfectly coiffed, though Wo would call it the poofy-boyband kind.

"Agent Fischer how are you doing?" he said, mostly in greeting because he didn't care how the man was doing. He did offer a hand to shake that Fischer accepted.

He hit him with a polite: "Commander," and then dropped Steve's hand.

"Thanks for making some time for me. I appreciate it."

This was a lie. They had been giving him the run around. It had been two days of calling and leaving messages with assistants before Steve called Wo Fat. Whatever Wo Fat did, they finally called Steve back and gave him a time to come in later that week. It shouldn't have taken this long for them to reach out to him, as the leader of the other task force on the island it would have made sense to loop him in, to ask for help.

But he knew exactly why they hadn't come to him which was part of the reason why he was so pissed off.

After a bit of a pause Agent Fischer asked: "How can we help?"

"You guys, you got a big job ahead of you, you got a lot of ground to cover. I, uh, thought I could save you some valuable time." Steve took a deep breath as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Bottom line, Adam Noshimuri is a good man."

If they were surprised Steve knew who they pegged as their main suspect for this crimewave they didn't show it.

"Was he always? Because I've we've heard something different," Agent Fischer said a little too smugly.

Steve simply nodded. "Yeah. I understand. Um… Here's the thing, he married a member of my team with my blessing, alright? This man has proven his loyalty to me over and over again. I trust him with my life, okay? That's got to stand for something."

"All reasons why I didn't come to you with this in the beginning."

Steve struggled to not reach out and shake the man, instead he nodded again. "Right… and you didn't think that this might be tied to Wo Fat going straight. Because he's worked with me too, and he's definitely more connected and influential in that work then Adam Noshimuri."

Fischer nodded. "We considered it. Even spoke to him about it."

"He would have told you it's not Adam."

"He did. But your brother-in-law has a hard time recognizing threats for what they are. He still thinks he's all powerful here when the fact of the matter is his grip on this island is slipping. He can't tell us who is coming for what's left of his empire just that he's losing chunks of it at a rapid pace. He thinks he can come on top of this but we're not so sure."

Suddenly Steve had a new worry on his plate. He was aware that something had been going on, simply because Wo and Con had suddenly been very cagey. On top of that they had both been very territorial and extra protective of both Rowan and Jian. Suddenly it made complete sense as to why Con demanded that Steve tell him when he was leaving so he knew to keep an eye on Rowan. He had not been aware that Wo Fat had been losing ground on Hawaii and it definitely didn't bode well for his wife's safety if Wo Fat wasn't in a position of power.

Suddenly Steve didn't want to be there in that office, he wanted to be at home. He wanted his wife in his line of sight, so he knew she was safe.

Enough of the arguing, it was time to leave.

"Fine. Let me just be clear about one thing. You approach a member of my team again without my knowledge, we're gonna have a different conversation. It's not going to be a polite as this one, alright? Thanks or your time."

He then whirled around and left. Desperate to get back to his truck. Desperate to get home to his family.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Steve put his flashers on to get himself back home to Rowan. He had practically flown through his front door, practically dove onto the couch to wrap her up in his arms. He didn't even care that Con was right there beside her when he did it. All that mattered that she was there and she was safe.

However, once Con was aware that Steve was going to be staying in for the rest of the day he left. Steve had tried to talk to him before he went but outside of promising that he'd call Con if he had to leave for any reason, Con was too busy… or distracted, to speak to him.

Steve then had to watch the house across the street for signs that Con might be back.

And then missed them entirely.

He only knew that Con was back when Rowan got a text. A checkup text. Con apparently sent them periodically throughout the day. She called this one the "before bed" text, which was basically just Con asking for an update and then saying goodnight.

She got the before bed text, confirmed she was okay and that he was back at his home and that was Steve up and out of bed.

He told her he just wanted to talk to Con about a possible barbeque event that weekend, one that did not exist but he might have to put on now that Rowan thought there was one. He made sure she was comfortable in bed, made sure she had water within reach before leaving their room.

He made sure that Nahele was in his bedroom. Then made sure that Junior was there, awake and aware that he was on point and on guard until Steve came back.

Only then did he make his way across the street.

The good thing about the siblings being as close as they were meant that Steve didn't have to knock. Con had given both Rowan and Wo a copy of his house key. Steve had taken Rowan's keys when he left, while he knew Wo had left his key to Con's house with Jian.

Steve let himself into the house and called out for Con.

There was no noise, Con simply appeared. He came out of his bedroom in a pair of black sweatpants, his trade-mark white tee-shirt and a look of confusion on his face.

"What the hell, McGarrett? I told you to tell me when you were leaving so I could watch Ro!"

"Well, I need to talk to you, without her…"

Con completely ignored him, instead he walked away and into his kitchen. Steve followed and upon entering noticed that Con was taking weapons out of hiding spots all throughout the kitchen, clearly planning to go over to Steve's house, though Steve had no idea why he thought he needed to be that heavily armed just to babysit Rowan. "I have Junior with her, okay. Junior can watch her for a couple of minutes."

Con scoffed at that. "I don't trust anyone but me."

Okay this was much worse than he thought it was. And a lot worse than Wo Fat was letting on to the FBI.

"Just… just let me call Wo, alright? We'll have the chat I want to have, and not only will I let you come back with me to make sure Ro's alright, I'll go with you to Jain's to make sure she's okay too."

Con turned to him watching as Steve pulled out his phone. "Is something going on?"

"Yeah," Steve said absently as he dialed Wo's number.

"And you need both of us to help you? Is it Ro or a case?"

"Neither right now,"

He could tell that Con was confused as to why Steve would need them then, but the phone was ringing and the man went quiet. It took four rings for Wo Fat to pick up which meant he was either sleeping or at work.

When he got a curt: "What?!" out of him Steve figured he had probably been sleeping.

"Everything's good," Steve said right away. "I just have a situation and I need to talk to you and Con together."

"This had better be good," he heard Wo Fat mutter. "What do you want?"

"I've got you on speaker, okay? It's just me and Con."

"He's not lying," Con called and Wo shot them both a clipped: "Okay."

"We have a new FBI task force here in Hawaii. They're looking into the uptick in violent Organized Crime on the island," he said. He waited to see if Wo would say anything but the man was silent. "They seem to think that Adam Noshimuri is behind it."

At that Wo laughed. "Kono's Husband?" he asked. "That's ridiculous. He went straight long before I did."

"Yes, I know…"

"They've already asked me about what I know… and they did bring up Adam but I thought I had… I'll call them again, set them straight."

"I don't think there's any setting them straight. They have their eyes on Adam and are hell bent on twisting things to make the crime fit him. But I'll deal with the Adam situation, that's not what I'm worried about right now."

"Then what are you worried about?"

"Agent Fischer told me that he talked to you. That you told him that you're rapidly losing footing here in Hawaii and you don't know who's muscling you out. Is that true?"

Steve kept his eyes on Con, saw his eyebrows shoot up, which meant that Wo was mostly likely also decently surprised. He doubted either man expected him to figure it out.

After a long paused a hesitant "…yes," came out of the phone.

"Wo, don't sugar coat it. How bad is it?"

"I've got it under control…" "—No you don't," Con cried interrupting him. "It's bad. Okay, McGarrett, it's bad and I am struggling here!"

Now it was Steve's turn to find himself surprised.

"I'm trying to fish for information but everyone knows I'm with Wo so they're not talking to me, and sometimes shooting at me. And on top of dealing with that, I also have to keep an eye on Jian and Ro and we're trying to keep Ro from figuring out what's going on…"

"Why?" Steve cried. "She could check the strings, she could figure out who it is…"

"Because, if we tell her what's going on her natural instinct will be to fix this. And sometimes the strings don't let her fix things early because certain things need to happen first. Neither Con nor I wanted her to stress when she's pregnant."

Okay all of that made sense so far. In fact Steve found himself agreeing with them.

"Alright, we don't loop Ro in. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because Ro's in tune to you. We figured if you knew she would find out shortly after."

Also fair but Steve had gotten better at masking his strings from her.

"Yeah. Just Ro right? And not because you two don't really trust me?"

It was stupid to harp on it now, when they actually had something going on and had been kind enough to loop him in instead of denying it even with his proof, but he couldn't help it. He hated being left out of all the little clubs in his family. The Ro and Nahele Club, the Chaos Sibling club, the Wo and Con Crime Club, now there was a Pregnant Ladies club he was being kept out of and honestly it got tiring always being the odd man out.

"No. Wo didn't want to admit that he's not as scary as he once was. He's embarrassed," Con said with a smirk.

A string of coughs broke through on the phone. Clearly Wo did not like that. "Con!"

"It's not that big of a deal, everyone gets weaker with age…"

"Shut. Up!"

"Don't antagonize him," Steve snapped and Con stopped sniggering. He turned back to the phone he was holding out between him and Con. "What can you tell me about this?"

"It's been going on a lot longer than the FBI thinks. My first clue was that massive amount of cash that got stolen out of that bank. No one transfers an amount like that out of nowhere. Confirmed it was tied to some kind crime family when the remaining robbers were killed in prison. Each were shanked on separate occasions, but that only started when I started asking questions. After that my own lines started to get hit…"

"Wait… your lines? You still have business on Hawaii?"

"Yes," Wo said right away.

"But… the FBI…"

"They knew about it. Were fine with it. Having me in play there helped them keep tabs on what was going on and who to worry about."

That was a pretty smart move. Steve should have thought about that.

"Any way, my business started to get hit, then so did some of my allies. At the current moment all I have left are the old Bosses. They may not like me, nor are they inclined to help me in anyway, but they still have respect for me. All of what's going on now is pitting them against one another, trying to start turf wars with them so they'll take each other out. I'm hoping to figure out who is behind this before they start killing one another, or worst case… this person decides to take them out."

That was a lot to worry about. Especially on his own.

"Well I can help out. Keep a better eye on Ro and on Jian. Have my team check in on them and what not. I can also see if any of my contacts know anything, but it sounds like this person is staying in the deep dark."

"Yes. It's quite annoying."

"Kind of sounds like the kind of Crime Boss you were."

"Don't remind me," Wo said carefully and then cleared his throat. "Take me off speaker."

Steve shot Con a bit of look, noting that the man looked rather offended that Wo wanted to speak to Steve on his own. Still he did as he was told and then put the phone to his ear to say: "You're good, go."

"I've been trying to convince they FBI to give Con back up so he can investigate without having to shoot his way out of places. He keeps saying he's fine and so far, he hasn't gotten too injured. Unless he's been lying to me. Has he been lying to me?"

"I don't see any visible injuries," Steve said as he looked Con up and down.

"Any chance you can give him some back up if needed?"

"I could."

"I don't mean you. I mean someone on your team."

Steve rolled his eyes. "I'll talk to the team, okay?"

A quiet: "Thank you," had Steve smiling.

"You're welcome. Now… is there anything else you two are hiding from me that I should know about?"

"Nothing on my end, not sure about Con," Wo said.

Despite not hearing Wo Fat, when Steve looked up Con simply shrugged and said: "Nothing that comes to mind."

"Right, great. We can do this. I'll help keep an eye on the girls and if anything comes out of this investigation other than blaming Adam, I'll let you guys know."

"Thanks, we'll keep you looped in from now on too. Tell Con I'll call him in a minute, okay?"

"Sure," Steve said before hanging up the phone. "Wo said he's going to call you."

"Yeah, probably to debrief," Con said with a sigh. "Seriously, are you going to go back over, or do you want me to go?"

"No, I'll go. Did you want to do a permitere check? Make sure things are good at my place and Jians? I'll go with you," he said.

"Naw I already did that," Con said absently. "Just want to sleep, if I'm being honest."

At that Steve nodded. "Thanks for all this, Con. I hope you know we appreciate you."

A bit of pink crept across Con's cheeks and Steve was sure he bit down on a smile. But instead, he waved Steve away. "Yeah, yeah. Have a nice night McGarrett."

As Steve left, he tried to keep the worry at bay. If they wanted to keep Ro out of it, he'd have to be calm when he got back to the house. As he crossed the street it became abundantly clear that his family had precarious footing and he didn't want to see any of them get hurt getting caught in the crosshairs of this situation.

And that included his two brothers-in-law.
