Marco was at Ace's house, just relaxing, when Ace smiled at him. "It's been some months now, and I am really fond of this relationship, it has to be the best one I've been in." Marco smiled. "I have to agree, you are amazing, Ace, yoi. And I love being around you, I love to talk with you." Ace smiled. "Same, and I look forward to it when we're not together." Marco nodded. "Same, yoi." Then they shared a kiss. Then the day went on, and things were going well.
It was the next week that Marco got a call from Sabo, and he answered it. "Hey, Sabo. What's up, yoi?" Sabo hummed. "Hey. I am good. But Ace is sick. He got the flu. I think his immune system is a bit down after the dengue fever, so he has the flu now and is home sick. I am sure he would love for you to drop by and just be with him. He hates to admit it when he is feeling bad." Marco nodded. "I would love to, I can drop by after work, yoi. I would love to be with him and comfort him." Sabo chuckled. "I had a feeling you would. And Luffy and I are busy all day and until tomorrow. Might even sleep at a hotel." Marco nodded, Ace shouldn't be home alone and sick. "I will drop by, and it is Saturday tomorrow, so I can stay the night, yoi." Sabo hummed. "Sounds good. Ace will appreciate it." Marco hoped so. Being sick was always boring and one felt awful.
So when the work day was over, he went over to Ace's house and brought some light food. When he went inside, as it should be unlocked; he had messaged Ace through the day and he seemed happy for him to drop by and stay a bit, while Sabo and Luffy were away. When he walked in, he found Ace on the couch, under a set of blankets, and when Ace saw him, he smiled. "Hey, you made it." Marco nodded and walked over and put the bags on the table. "Yeah, and I brought food, yoi." Ace smiled. "Perfect. I am a bit hungry." They then ate the food while a show was on, and Ace often coughed or sneezed, as well as he blew his nose often as he had a lot of snot, and coughed up a lot of mucus and such, he really was sick. Marco made sure to be with Ace through it and when he coughed up mucus and phlegm, he made sure to have a hand on his back, stroking or clapping. He was just glad he could help Ace through it.
They then watched a show, them cuddling on the couch, Ace sitting up now and then to cough and such, before he laid down again. It was nice, and it was something about it that felt… like he wouldn't mind doing this every time Ace was sick. It was bad Ace was sick, but Marco felt more and more he wanted to spend every moment he had with Ace, be it while Ace was sick or well, as long as it was with Ace, he was happy.
So when there was a break in the show and Ace was sitting upright, Marco looked at Ace, before Marco moved to grab Ace's hands. "Ace, you are amazing, and I want to be with you through it all. When you are sick and well. I know it will soon be half a year, and this is rushed as Hell, but I have never been more sure of anything. I don't have any ring on me, but I have one at home. But, Ace Dragonfly Portgas, will you marry me, yoi?" Ace looked emotional as he spoke, and when he was done, Ace spoke. "I am sick, I have snot coming out of my nose and mucus coming up my lungs, and you ask me this? Now? God, yes! I would love to marry you!"
Marco smiled, it was either or, and it was rushed so he would get it if Ace said no. So he moved to kiss Ace, but Ace stopped him. "No, I am sick. I don't want to infect you." Marco smiled. "I am called 'The Phoenix' for a reason, you won't infect me, yoi. I promise." Ace nodded and sniffled, both since he was sick and emotional, and they shared a kiss. But it was cut short as Ace needed to cough, and Marco moved his hand to Ace's back as more phlegm came up. When Ace stopped coughing, he breathed a bit, before he spoke. "This is so romantic! I am sick and dying, and you proposed!" Marco chuckled. "I don't think you're dying, Ace. You're just sick, yoi." Ace sneezed. "Feels like dying." Then Ace blew his nose again.
Marco smiled at Ace as he was done. "I know being sick sucks, but in a bit, you will barely remember how bad you feel now, yoi." Ace sighed. "I can't wait for it, this sucks so bad. Or most of this. This, the fact I am now engaged is… wow." Ace looked at him. "I love you." Marco smiled. "I love you too, yoi." And kissed Ace, who kissed back, but once again was cut short as Ace sneezed, before Ace said. "God, I hate this." Marco chuckled and moved some hair away from Ace's hair. "But still, you are as stunning as day one, yoi." Ace smiled. "Such a smooth talker. God, I am so glad you could come by, I needed this." Marco nodded. "I can get that, you're sick, and that sucks, yoi." Ace gave a breath. "That's like half of it. This sucks so bad." Marco chuckled and opened his arms. "Want to cuddle and watch the show, as engaged fiancées, yoi?" Ace smiled and nodded, and was soon in Marco's lap, lying down and relaxing.
Marco moved and stroked Ace's hair, hand moving through his hair, and it wasn't long before he noticed Ace was asleep, which was good. Ace needed the sleep as he was sick. Ace was asleep for a bit, before he woke up with a coughing fit and Marco did his best to stroke Ace on the back, and it wasn't long before Ace got some chunks of phlegm up, and when he had, Ace groaned. "I feel like I will puke…" Marco nodded. "Sometimes, puking makes you feel better, yoi." Ace groaned. "No! I refuse to puke, I hate it, I am not going to do it." Marco got it, it was uncomfortable. "Know I am here though, and I won't leave before you're better or Sabo and/or Luffy come by, yoi." Ace smiled at him. "You're so amazing. And I am so glad I have you in my life." Marco smiled. "Same, yoi." And they shared a kiss.
Then it wasn't long before Ace was asleep in his lap again, and this time was asleep for a bit, before he woke up later with a sneeze. And Ace looked at the clock on his phone and said he could take more medicine now, so Marco went and got it for him, Ace taking the tablets and some liquid medicine, before he was relaxing on Marco's lap again, head in his lap as he relaxed.
That was how the day and evening went, Ace relaxing most of it and sleeping on and off, before they went to bed and Ace fell asleep fast as he was sick. Marco did fall asleep after a bit, and when the morning came, Ace was still asleep when Marco woke up, and Marco got up and prepared some breakfast, and as he was almost finished, Ace came down and looked at him. "You made breakfast?" Marco nodded. "I did, yoi. Made an omelette and some toast." Ace smiled. "That is perfect. You're so amazing. Best boyfr- no, fiancée, ever." Marco smiled and kissed Ace. "I try. Feeling better?" Ace nodded. "You know what, yes, I feel better. Still sick, but better." Marco smiled. "That's good, yoi." Ace nodded. "It is. And I feel hungry. Need any help?" Marco shook his head. "No, I got it under control, sit down and I will bring it in a minute, yoi." Ace nodded and went to the living room where Ace sat under the covers he had brought down.
They then ate and they chatted for a bit, before the clock struck 11 am and Sabo and Luffy came home, Luffy hugging Ace and telling how it had gone, before Luffy asked how he felt, and Ace hummed. "I feel better, still sick, but better." Luffy smiled. "Yay! That's great!" Ace nodded. "It is." Sabo then hummed. "How has it been here?" Ace smiled. "Good, was nice to have someone here. And, while I don't have anything to prove it, Marco may have proposed, and I may have said yes." Sabo blinked, before he hummed. "Trevor owes me 100 bucks." Ace chuckled. "What did he bet?" Sabo hummed. "That it would take over a year, I betted less." Ace hummed. "You should have betted more than a 100." Sabo hummed. "But while I was pretty sure it would be less than a year, it could have been more. Never know." Ace hummed. "True. I will tell him the good news next time I talk with him, so you can get your money." Sabo nodded. "Perfect. Love betting money when I win." Ace chuckled. "Same."
Luffy then clapped his hands. "Yay! We got a brother in law!" Ace chuckled "Not just yet, we need to marry first, Lu." Luffy nodded. "When will you marry?" He asked, tilting his head. Ace hummed. "Don't know, Lu. It needs to be planned. And it just happened, and planning a wedding takes time." Luffy nodded. "Oh, okay. So… when will you start planning?" Ace hummed. "Not just yet, I am still sick, I want to be well. And then we need to discuss it, and then we can plan it. It takes time." Luffy nodded. "I get it, and we will help!" Ace smiled. "I know you will. But we won't start planning right now. But I will tell you when we do, okay?" Luffy nodded. "Yes!"
They then watched a show and spoke some while they did, before Marco left a bit before dinner, giving a kiss to Ace before he left. When he got home, he felt he was in a good mood, and when Pops asked how it had gone, Marco asked to speak with him in private, and they went to the office and Pops asked if anything had happened, and Marco used a second to figure out how to say this, when he decided to just say it. "I proposed to Ace, yoi." Pops blinked. "What?" Marco nodded. "Yeah, I proposed to Ace, yoi. It just… felt right." Pops nodded a bit. "What did he say? Isn't this a bit rushed?" Marco nodded. "It is a bit rushed, but he said yes, yoi." Pops blinked, before he smiled. "I am happy for you, son." Marco nodded. "I am as well. I don't want to tell everyone yet, but yeah, I wanted you to know."
Pops nodded. "This is a small shock, but I am very happy for you, son. Even though it is a bit rushed. But you won't get married tomorrow I guess." Marco hummed. "No, we won't. We will get married when we have spoken more about it and planned it more. I mean, a wedding is a huge thing, yoi. And apparently, Sabo and Trevor had a bet about it." Pops blinked. "They did?" Marco nodded. "Yes, yoi. Sabo better we would be fiancées before a year, and Trevor betted after a year, so Sabo won." Pops chuckled. "Sabo seems to be very smart and observant." Marco nodded. "He sure does, yoi." Marco then gave a breath. "I know this was very rushed, but it felt very right, yoi."
Pops nodded. "Do you have a ring?" Marco hummed. "No, not yet. But I was thinking of using my mother's ring. What do you think, yoi?" Pops hummed. "You do seem to really love him. So go for it." Marco smiled. "Thank you, Pops. I am glad you approve." Pops smiled. "I approve of my children being happy, and Ace seems to make you very happy." Marco smiled. "Yeah, he really does, yoi." Pops smiled. "I am happy you're happy with Ace, son. And I won't tell the others about this until you tell me I can." Marco nodded. "Thank you, Pops. It means a lot that you approve, and we won't get married just yet, but we are heading that way." Pops nodded. "And I will always approve of you. Your happiness is my priority. And Ace makes you happy, and that is very good. All I want is to see you happy." Marco smiled. "I am so glad you're my father, I got the best one there is, yoi." Pops chuckled. "And I have the best children in the world. You're all my most precious treasures. But I am very happy for you, son. This is good news." Marco smiled. "Yeah, it is, yoi." Then they shared a hug, Pops congratulating him again, before they went back out with the others, who asked what that was.
Marco said he just updated on some stuff and Ace was sick with the flu and Marco had been with Ace while Sabo and Luffy were gone, but Ace felt better now, which was good. Everyone nodded and were glad Ace felt better, being sick was never good. Then the weekend went on, and on Monday, he went and met with Ace after work, and he had his mother's ring with him, and showed it to Ace. When he mentioned it was his mother's, Ace blinked. "Should I get that one? It is yours, Marco." Marco hummed. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life, yoi. Please, just see if it fits." Ace nodded and did, and the ring was a bit small, and Marco said he would have it a size up, and Ace tried to say he should not alter it, it was his mother's. But Marco stood on his. He knew Ace would keep it safe. And Marco couldn't think of anything else to do with it. He wanted Ace to have it. Which Ace did seem to get and looked very grateful for, that Marco trusted him with it, and Marco knew Ace would keep it safe, as Ace was amazing.
They then enjoyed dinner together, before they relaxed on the couch, Sabo and Luffy were out. And a bit later, Marco hummed as they watched the show, before Ace's phone lit up with a call, and Ace looked over and quickly saw it was someone called Lilith before Ace grabbed the phone, and at first, Marco felt confused, but then he realized it was probably someone other than the one with the FBI. Ace then stood up and said he needed to take this, and went out of the room as he answered it, and Marco couldn't hear what was being said. It wasn't long before Ace came back and Marco asked if everything was okay, and Ace said it was, just some work stuff, which made sense. Ace had a lot of meetings and such, many people he needed to speak with, and Ace seemed good at keeping track of all of them.
Then the evening on, and when the clock was nearing 10pm, Marco headed home as he had work tomorrow and he would drive Thatch and into work as they needed the car, and Thatch's car was in the shop right now. He did kiss Ace goodbye, and he would try and get the ring sent to alteration fast. So after work, he went to a jewelry shop close to his office and sent the ring to be a size bigger, and they said it would take about 2 weeks before he got it back, as it needed to be sent in and they had a waiting list, which was fine for Marco. He wanted it done right, and he knew they did it right. So now the ring was sent to be altered, which was good.
The next day, he had a date with Ace again, them heading to a restaurant to eat, and would then head to a movie after, and then to a hotel. And it went very well, they had fun, and Ace said he felt fully well again, which was good. After the movie, they walked and talked as they headed to the hotel, before they had some fun at the hotel before sleeping. When the next day came, they got up early before they headed each other's way as both had work, but it was nice being with Ace, he really enjoyed it. And they were engaged now, and he couldn't wait to get the ring back and give it to Ace properly.

Ace hummed as he looked at Trevor, meeting him now. "So, you owe Sabo 100 bucks." Trevor rolled his eyes. "Which bet did he win this time?" Ace blinked. "Wait, you have more bets? Which?" Trevor hummed. "You just need to wait until I either win or lose. But back to it, which bet did he win?" Ace hummed. "I don't have it yet, but Marco did propose, and I did say yes. I will get a ring later." Trevor blinked. "You did? Isn't this like a hell of a rush?" Ace hummed. "Might be, but it felt… right." Trevor hummed. "Is there anything I should know?" Ace shook his head. "No. Just, be happy for me. Marco is a good one." Trevor nodded. "I have to agree. He does seem like a good one. Ace, I am happy for you." Ace smiled. "Thank you."
Trevor smiled. "So, when will we have the engagement party? We need to have one!" Ace hummed. "In a bit, I have some stuff I need to do." Trevor nodded a bit. "Anything I should know?" Ace shook his head. "No, just… be you." Trevor didn't look to truly believe it, but nodded. "I will always be me. And you're not in trouble?" Ace shook his head. "No, I am not." Ace knew Trevor would let it go, at least he hoped so. Ace wasn't in trouble, but there was some stuff going on. But it would probably go fine.

It was a week later that Marco walked out of the meeting room with his family at their business,having gone a bit overtime as it was a bit past 4pm now, and Marco blinked when he saw Ace there and smiled, walking over and kissing him. "Hey, why are you here?" Ace smiled. "Just wanted to drop by and see you, and say if you need anything from The Straw Hats Company, you need to call Luffy or Sabo, not me." Marco blinked and looked at Pops and the others, who seemed confused as well, before he looked back at Ace and Pops spoke first. "Why? I mean, I don't mind, but why? Is anything wrong?" Ace was on his way to speak, when the elevator doors opened and he heard heels clacking, before he saw Lilith coming with two men, and Marco was sure she was behind this. Maybe she would try and get them again?
Ace gave a breath. "You said I had until 5pm." Marco blinked. What? Lilith nodded. "I know. But I have people on my back too." Marco took a step forward. "What is going on, yoi?" Lilith then spoke. "Ace D Portgas, you are under arrest for fraud, murder, spying," As Lilith spoke on, the two men moved and one put handcuffs on Ace, who didn't even fight it, while Lilith continued after saying the charges. "You have the right to remain silent, and whatever you say or do can be used against you in a court of law." The cuffs were on and one guy on each side of Ace, when the elevator dinged again and Trevor came out running, stopping when he saw them and moved his hands to his head, but didn't say anything.
Marco moved a hand out. "You can't do this, what evidence do you have, yoi?" Lilith hummed. "None." They all blinked and Whitebeard spoke. "Then how can you do this?" Lilith hummed. "Easy. We have an admission of guilt." Lilith then looked at the two men by Ace. "Let's go." Then they started to leave and Trevor just moved out of the way, and when they were in the elevator and the door closed, Marco spoke. "What was that! Why didn't you stop them, yoi?!" Trevor sighed. "Because I couldn't. Ace turned himself in. I just… I don't get why. There has to be a reason! He turned himself in! Like what! He will never get out of jail at this rate!" Marco didn't know what to feel, as this didn't add up at all. Lilith had to have blackmailed him somehow. Maybe even with them. But this was bad.
