Chapter 10
Fenris looked at Sona, and Yugi looked at Rebecca in awe of the XYZ monster.
"I can't believe Rebecca took control of the match so quickly," Yugi said before Fenris nodded in response.
"Indeed," Fenris added, "her tactics are sharp. Sona's game is unfolding similarly. She's reading the field like a master strategist."
Sona adjusted her glasses, watching the board intently. "Every move counts. You can't afford to miss an opportunity."
Yugi glanced between the duelists. "In our match, Rebecca always had a talent for turning the tide quickly. It's all about timing."
Fenris grinned slightly, "And Sona knows that too well. It's going to be a battle of wits."
The crowd murmured in anticipation, sensing the tense atmosphere between the duelists. Fenris leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as he observed the field. "Rebecca has the upper hand now, but Sona isn't out of it yet."
Sona stood tall, even with Void Terror-Byte looming over her. She drew her card. "I won't let you defeat me so easily, Rebecca. It's my turn!" Sona's eyes scanned her hand and the field, strategizing her next move carefully.
"I activate my Spell Card: Surface! This Spell allows me to revive a Level 3 or lower WATER monster from my Graveyard, and I choose Atlantean Marksman!" The sleek warrior returned to the field, ready for battle once again.
Rebecca yawned theatrically. "Cute, but that won't help against my monster."
Sona ignored her. "I'm not done. Next, I summon Deep Sea Diva in Attack Position!"
Deep Sea Diva
•Level: 2
•Type: Sea Serpent / Tuner / Effect
•ATK: 200
•DEF: 400
•Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monster from your Deck.
"As you know, Diva's effect lets me Special Summon another Sea Serpent from my Deck! I summon Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince!" A regal figure with flowing water robes appeared beside the others.
Rebecca raised an eyebrow. "That's a lot of weaklings for me to crush."
Sona smirked. "We'll see. I tune my Level 2 Deep Sea Diva with my Level 3 Atlantean Marksman and Neptabyss! Synchro Summon!" The three monsters merged in a swirl of energy as Sona's Synchro Monster emerged. "Come forth, White Aura Dolphin!"
White Aura Dolphin
•Level: 6
•Type: Fish / Synchro / Effect
•ATK: 2400
•DEF: 1000
•Effect: Once per turn: You can target one face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK until the end of this turn. If this card you control is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard, You can banish one other WATER monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card, and if you do, it is treated as a Tuner.
"White Aura Dolphin's effect activates! I target your Void Terror-Byte and halve its ATK!" A beam of light shot from the Dolphin's mouth, striking the massive chaos machine. The powerful Void Terror-Byte's stats dropped dramatically.
Void Terror-Byte
DEF: 4700 - ATK: 0
Rebecca's grin faltered as she realized her monster had been weakened. "Tch, clever move."
Sona wasn't done. "Next, I activate my facedown card: Salvage! This card allows me to bring back two WATER monsters with 1500 or less ATK from my Graveyard to my hand. I choose Hammer Shark and Atlantean Marksman." She placed the cards back into her hand, her strategy beginning to unfold. "Now, I'll attack Void Terror-Byte with White Aura Dolphin since he's in Attack Mode!"
The massive Dolphin charged, crashing into the weakened Void Terror-Byte, shattering it into pieces. Rebecca's Life Points took a hit as the crowd erupted in excitement.
Rebecca Hawkins: 9000 - 7500 LP
Rebecca gritted her teeth. "I'm not finished yet, Sona."
Sona smiled confidently. "I'll set one card facedown and end my turn."
Rebecca's turn began, and her confidence hadn't completely faded. She drew her card. "Not bad, but you've only delayed your defeat. I summon Tour Guide From the Underworld!"
Tour Guide From the Underworld
•Level: 3
•Type: Fiend / Effect
•ATK: 1000
•DEF: 600
•Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend-Type monster from your hand or Deck, but its effects are negated.
"With Tour Guide's effect, I Special Summon Night Assailant from my Deck in Defense Position!" A creepy figure emerged, its presence unsettling as it appeared on Rebecca's side of the field.
Rebecca wasn't done. "I overlay my two Level 3 monsters to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon!" The two Fiends combined as a large dragon-like creature appeared on her field.
Leviair the Sea Dragon

•DEF: 1600
•Effect: Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target one banished Level 4 or lower monster; Special Summon that target to your side of the field.
"I'll detach 1 Xyz Material from Leviair the Sea Dragon to bring back Sangan from my banished zone!" The grotesque fiend returned to the field once again. "Next, I'll Tribute Sangan to summon Caius, the Shadow Monarch!"
Caius, the Shadow Monarch
•Level: 6
•Type: Fiend / Effect
•ATK: 2400
•DEF: 1000
•Effect: When this card is Tribute Summoned: Target 1 card on the field; banish that target. If you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent if it is a DARK monster.
The Shadow Monarch appeared, towering over Sona's field. "When Caius is summoned, I can banish one card on the field. I target your White Aura Dolphin!" Rebecca declared triumphantly.
Sona watched helplessly as her Synchro Monster was banished in a swirl of dark energy. "Now, I'll attack you directly with Caius, the Shadow Monarch!" The Shadow Monarch launched a powerful blast toward Sona, and her Life Points plummeted.
Sona Sitri: 8000 - 5600 LP
"I'll end my turn there," Rebecca said, smirking as she regained the momentum.
Sona staggered slightly but quickly regained her composure. "This duel isn't over yet," she muttered as she prepared for her next turn. The battle between the two duelists was far from finished, and the stakes were higher than ever.
The tension in the arena was palpable as the spectators exchanged glances, murmuring about the duel's intensity. Yugi leaned closer to Fenris, his brow furrowed in concern. "Rebecca's not holding back at all. She's going straight for the jugular."
Fenris nodded, his sharp eyes never leaving the field. "Sona is in a tough spot. That Caius card can be devastating, especially with its banishing effect. But if anyone can find a way out, it's her."
Yugi glanced at the board, deep in thought. "Both duelists have such different styles. Rebecca is going for raw power and control, while Sona focuses on strategy and resource management. It's hard to say who has the edge right now."
Meanwhile, across the arena, Pegasus watched the duel with a twinkle in his eye. "Oh, my, my… such splendid play from both of them! This match could go either way, and that's what makes it so exciting."
The crowd buzzed with excitement, everyone on the edge of their seats, waiting to see who would make the next big move.
Back in the Duel Arena, Sona clenched her fist around her cards, knowing she had to make her next move count. She glanced at her hand, formulating her plan. "Rebecca's field is powerful, but if I play this right, I can turn the tide."
Rebecca, on the other hand, stood tall, her confidence radiating. "What's wrong, Sona? Starting to crack under the pressure?" she taunted. "Just give up now, and I'll make this quick."
Sona narrowed her eyes, refusing to be intimidated. "This duel is far from over," she responded, determination in her voice. She drew her next card, ready to take her next turn.
The crowd fell silent, eager to see how the duel would unfold as both duelists prepared for the final stretch of the battle.
Sona looked at the card she had just drawn and smiled, feeling a surge of hope. "This might just turn things around," she thought. She looked across the field at Rebecca, whose Caius the Shadow Monarch loomed large, and knew this next move would be crucial.
"My turn!" Sona declared, her voice filled with renewed determination. "I activate the Spell Card: Moray of Greed! I shuffle two WATER monsters from my hand back into my Deck and draw three new cards." She quickly returned Hammer Shark and Atlantean Marksman to her Deck, her mind racing as she drew her new hand.
Rebecca scoffed. "Drawing more cards won't save you. I still have Caius on the field, and your Synchro monster is long gone."
Sona remained unfazed. "We'll see about that. I summon Abysspike in Attack Position!"
Abysspike
•Level: 4
•Type: Fish / Effect
•ATK: 1600
•DEF: 800
•Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can discard 1 WATER monster to the Graveyard; add 1 Level 3 WATER monster from your Deck to your hand.
"As you know, when Abysspike is summoned, I can discard a WATER monster to the Graveyard. I'll discard Atlantean Heavy Infantry to add Deep Sea Diva to my hand."
Rebecca's eyes narrowed, sensing something was coming. "You're setting something up."
Sona smiled. "You're not wrong. But don't forget, when Atlantean Heavy Infantry is sent to the Graveyard, I can target one face-up card you control and destroy it. I choose Caius, the Shadow Monarch!"
The mighty Shadow Monarch began to crumble as water surged from beneath it, engulfing the dark fiend and shattering it into pieces. Rebecca gritted her teeth as her field was left wide open.
"And now," Sona continued, "I summon Deep Sea Diva once again and use her effect to Special Summon another Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince from my Deck!"
Rebecca sneered, frustrated at how quickly Sona was filling her field again. "More weaklings. This is getting old, Sona."
But Sona was far from done. "Now, I'll activate Neptabyss's effect! I'll send Atlantean Dragoons from my Deck to the Graveyard to add Atlantean Heavy Infantry to my hand."
"And since Atlantean Dragoons was sent to the Graveyard, I can add a Sea Serpent from my Deck to my hand. I choose Mermail Abyssmegalo!"
Rebecca's eyes widened at the mention of Abyssmegalo. "Wait… that's one of your strongest cards!"
Sona nodded. "That's right. And now, I'll discard two WATER monsters, Atlantean Heavy Infantry and Abysspike, to Special Summon Mermail Abyssmegalo!"
Mermail Abyssmegalo
•Level: 7
•Type: Sea Serpent / Effect
•ATK: 2400
•DEF: 1900
•Effect: You can discard two other WATER monsters to the Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your hand. When Special Summoned this way: You can add 1 "Abyss-" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can Tribute one other WATER monster; this card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn.
The mighty sea serpent rose from the depths, its roar echoing through the arena. "When Abyssmegalo is summoned, I can add one Abyss-Sphere from my Deck to my hand. And don't forget, Atlantean Heavy Infantry's effect activates again! I can destroy one more card, and I choose your facedown Spell or Trap!"
Rebecca's card shattered into pieces before she could even activate it, leaving her completely exposed. Her smirk was gone, replaced with frustration, as she watched Sona take full control of the duel.
Sona still needed to be finished. "I'll Tribute Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince, allowing Mermail Abyssmegalo to attack twice this turn!"
Rebecca's eyes widened in shock as she realized what was coming.
"Mermail Abyssmegalo, attack Leviair the Sea Dragon!" The massive serpent surged forward, crashing into Rebecca's Xyz Monster and destroying it with ease.
Rebecca Hawkins: 7500 - 6900 LP
"And now, Mermail Abyssmegalo attacks you directly!"
The second attack hit Rebecca hard. The powerful water monster blasted through her Life Points, leaving her staggered.
Rebecca Hawkins: 6900 - 4500 LP
"I'll end my turn there," Sona said confidently, her field now completely set up with Mermail Abyssmegalo and Abysspike standing strong.
Rebecca stumbled back, glaring at Sona. "You've taken the lead, but this isn't over yet!" she growled, drawing her next card. She glanced at it, then smirked.
"Oh, you're going to regret that," Rebecca said as she revealed her drawn card. "I activate Monster Reborn to bring back Caius, the Shadow Monarch!"
Caius returned to the field in a flash of dark energy, its menacing aura once again looming over the battlefield.
"And now, I activate the Spell Card Double Summon!" Rebecca continued, a gleam of confidence returning to her eyes. "With this, I'll utilize the Normal Summon Tour Guide from the Underworld again and use her effect on Special Summon Sangan from my Deck!"
Sona watched warily as Rebecca rebuilt her field in mere moments, realizing that the duel was far from over.
"I overlay Tour Guide and Sangan to Xyz Summon Number 47: Nightmare Shark!" A terrifying sea creature appeared, its shark-like body twisting in midair as it let out a chilling roar.
"Now, Nightmare Shark's effect activates! I can target one monster I control and have it attack you directly this turn. I choose Caius, the Shadow Monarch!"
Sona's eyes widened as she realized the danger. "A direct attack?!"
"That's right!" Rebecca declared triumphantly. "Caius, attack Sona directly!"
The Shadow Monarch charged, launching a dark blast of energy straight at Sona, draining her Life Points in one powerful hit.
Sona Sitri: 5600 - 3200 LP
Sona staggered, her body trembling from the impact of the attack. Rebecca's grin widened. "And with that, I'll end my turn. Let's see how you handle this."
The crowd was on edge, the duel swinging back and forth, with no clear winner in sight. Sona took a deep breath, her hand shaking as she prepared to draw her next card. She knew this was her last chance to take control. The Fate of the duel—and her pride—hung in the balance.
Rebecca smirked, her confidence soaring after landing the direct attack. "What's the matter, Sona? Feeling a bit out of your depth?" she taunted, her words dripping with mockery. "I thought Kuoh Academy's student council president would put up more of a fight. I guess even the 'geniuses' from your little fancy school can handle a challenge.
Sona frowned, gripping her cards tighter. She was used to opponents trying to get into her head, but there was something different about Rebecca's jabs. They felt personal. "Why do you keep bringing up Kuoh Academy?" Sona asked, her voice calm but tinged with curiosity. "What's your problem with it?"
Rebecca's smile faltered for a moment, her eyes flashing with irritation before she crossed her arms and huffed. "Why do I have a problem with it?" she echoed sarcastically. "Why wouldn't I? Kuoh Academy is supposed to be this elite school, full of prodigies and talented students. The kind of place for smart kids, for geniuses like you."
Sona raised a brow. "And?"
Rebecca's expression darkened as she clenched her fists. "I'm smarter than half the people in that school! I aced their entrance exam! Heck, I beat your score, Sona. Did you know that?" she spat, her voice full of resentment.
Sona's eyes widened slightly. "You… took the entrance exam?"
Rebecca nodded sharply, her voice growing more heated. "I'm a dueling prodigy, but I'm not just some card game kid. I've been underestimated my entire life just because I'm younger than everyone else. They look at me and see a little girl, not someone who's way ahead of kids her age. When I saw that Kuoh Academy had an accelerated program for advanced students, I thought, 'Hey, maybe this is my chance. Maybe I can go to one of my favorite schools and prove myself.' But instead, I was denied."
Sona remained silent, letting Rebecca vent.
"They told me I was too young, that I didn't fit into their little plan, even though I was smarter than most of the students there. I worked harder than anyone to get into that program, and they turned me down. That's why I'm annoyed, Sona." Rebecca's voice was filled with frustration now. "Kuoh Academy only picks the students they want, not the ones who deserve to be there."
Sona blinked, taken aback by Rebecca's honesty and anger. "So, that's what this is about?" she asked quietly. "You feel like you were cast aside?"
Rebecca scoffed, crossing her arms again. "Of course, that's what this is about! I've spent my life being underestimated just because I'm a kid. No one takes me seriously, no matter how many duels I win or how much I accomplish academically. Kuoh Academy was just another reminder that no matter what I do, people will always look down on me."
Sona looked at Rebecca, feeling a pang of empathy. While she didn't agree with Rebecca's methods, she understood the pain of being underestimated. "Rebecca," Sona started, "I didn't know. But that doesn't mean you should take your frustration out on others."
Rebecca's eyes narrowed. "Don't lecture me, Sona. You don't know what it's like to be rejected like that. This duel is my way of showing everyone what they missed out on. And if I beat the perfect president of Kuoh Academy? That's just icing on the cake."
Sona straightened up, her resolve returning. "You're wrong about one thing," she said firmly. "I do understand. But this duel isn't about revenge, Rebecca. It's about proving who's the better duelist. If you want to show how smart and talented you are, you don't need to drag others down."
Rebecca gritted her teeth but said nothing, the tension between them thick in the air.
Sona closed her eyes briefly before opening them, her determination clear. "I respect your talent, Rebecca. But I won't hold back just because of your past. I'll show you what it means to face me as an equal."
Rebecca's lips curled into a smirk. "Then stop talking and duel, Sona. Let's see if you're really as good as you say."
Sona took a deep breath, centering herself as she examined her hand and the current state of the field.
"Alright, it's my turn," Sona said, her voice steady as she drew a card. She quickly scanned her hand, calculating her options. "I summon Atlantean Dragoons in Attack Position!"
Atlantean Dragoons
Level: 4
Type: Sea Serpent / Effect
ATK: 1700
DEF: 1300
Effect: When this card is Normal or Special Summoned, you can add 1 Atlantean monster from your Deck to your hand.
The battlefield shimmered as a fierce warrior emerged, wielding a spear that glinted in the light.
Sona continued, "When Atlantean Dragoons is summoned, I can add an Atlantean monster from my Deck to my hand. I'll grab Atlantean Prince!"
As she added the card to her hand, Sona felt a surge of confidence. She knew the key to turning this duel around was to leverage her Atlantean monsters effectively.
"Next," she continued, "I'll overlay my Atlantean Dragoons and Hammer Shark to Xyz Summon Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark!"
The crowd gasped as the two monsters transformed into a brilliant light, merging. Sona's new monster appeared on the field, its intricate design mesmerizing everyone present.
Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark
Rank: 4
Attribute: WATER
Type: Fish / Xyz / Effect
ATK: 2400
DEF: 2400
Effect: Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; for the rest of the turn, your opponent's monsters cannot target other monsters for attacks except this one.
"I'll use Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark's effect!" Sona declared confidently. "I detach an Xyz Material to protect my monsters from attacks!" The shimmering energy around Hope Woven pulsed as it absorbed the material, creating a barrier.
"But that's not all!" Sona added, determination clear in her eyes. "I'll also activate the effect of Atlantean Prince in my hand! I can send him to the Graveyard to Special Summon a Sea Serpent monster from my Deck."
Sona swiftly added the Atlantean Prince to her Graveyard. "Come forth, Atlantean Marksman!"
The sleek warrior from earlier reappeared, ready to fight alongside Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark.
"Now I'll attack you directly!"
Hope Woven charged forward, its powerful form glowing as it lunged at Rebecca's life points. The collision was tremendous, sending shockwaves through the arena as the crowd watched with anticipation.
Rebecca sneered, her confidence unwavering. "You'll have to do better than that! I activate my Trap Card: Dimensional Barrier!"
Dimensional Barrier
Trap Card
Effect: Declare a monster type; negate the effects and any attacks from that type until the end of the turn.
"Your Xyz Monster is a Fish, right? So, I declare Fish! Its effects are negated for the rest of the turn!"
The barrier sprang up, enveloping Hope Woven and nullifying its effect and attack just as it was about to strike.
Sona's expression shifted to one of concern, realizing that her plan had been thwarted. "I... I didn't see that coming."
Rebecca laughed, relishing the moment. "What's wrong, Sona? Feeling the pressure? You're supposed to be the genius here!"
Sona narrowed her eyes, refusing to let Rebecca's taunts get under her skin. "I still have a plan. I'll end my turn!"
Rebecca grinned, drawing her next card. "Your plan? Let's see how long it lasts. I summon Tour Guide from the Underworld in Attack Position!"
The dark figure of the Tour Guide appeared on Rebecca's side of the field once again, instantly making her more dangerous.
"Next, I'll use her effect to Special Summon Giant Rat from my Deck!"
As the Giant Rat emerged, Rebecca's strategy became clearer. "Now, I activate my Dark Clone Spell Card and Level Up Spell as well."
"Dark Clone allows me to clone one Dark Monster gut with no attack, defense, or abilities. Also, thanks to Level Up, I can increase the levels of one monster, so I level up Tour Guide to Level 4 and clone her." Rebecca explained that another tour guide had appeared before Soma knew what she was going to do.
"Now I overlay both my two Tour Guides of the Underworld and Giant Rat to Xyz Summon Number 16: Shock Master!"
The audience gasped again as the imposing figure of Shock Master appeared on the field, its intimidating aura sending chills through the spectators.
Number 16: Shock Master
Rank: 4
Attribute: LIGHT
Type: Machine / Xyz / Effect
ATK: 2200
DEF: 1600
Effect: Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; declare a card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap). Until your next turn, your opponent cannot activate that type of card.
"Now, I'll use Shock Master's effect!" Rebecca declared with glee. "I detach 1 Xyz Material and declare Spell! Until my next turn, you can't activate any Spell Cards!"
Sona's eyes widened in shock. "That's not good..."
"Unfortunately, due to Dark Clone, if I use the clone to summon an XYZ, Fusion, or Synchro, my Battle Phase is skipped, so I end my turn."
Rebecca commanded, her voice filled with excitement as she had a plan while Sona braced herself for the next turn, realizing the precarious position she was in. "I can't let this end here…"
Sona steadied her breath, feeling the adrenaline coursing through her veins. She glanced at her hand and then at her Graveyard, where her water monsters lay waiting. With the previous attack, she felt a surge of confidence as she looked at her new card in hand.
"I activate The New Waters!" Sona announced, her voice rising with determination. "By sending this Spell Card to the Graveyard, it allows me to sacrifice all of my Water monsters on the field and in my Graveyard to deal damage to you equal to their combined ATK!"
The audience watched in awe, sensing the weight of the moment as Sona calculated the total damage.
Sona continued, "I'll sacrifice Hammer Shark with 1700 ATK, Atlantean Marksman with 1400 ATK, Atlantean Prince with 1800 ATK, Deep Sea Diva with 600 ATK, and I'll even include Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark with 2100 ATK, Mermail Abyssmegalo with 2400 ATK, and Abysspike with 1600 ATK,! That's a total of..."
She paused for dramatic effect, calculating quickly in her mind. "A whopping 13,600 points of damage!"
The crowd gasped, and Rebecca's eyes widened in disbelief.
"With this move, I'll unleash the combined power of my water monsters!" Sona declared, raising her arms as a massive tidal wave of energy surged forth, gathering the spirits of her fallen creatures.
The spectral forms of Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark, Mermail Abyssmegalo, Abysspike, and Deep Sea Diva joined the attack, merging into a formidable force.
"Flood the battlefield and claim victory for me!" Sona shouted, and the wave crashed down upon Rebecca.
"No! This can't be happening!" Rebecca screamed as the wave enveloped her, the combined power of Sona's monsters overwhelming her defenses.
Rebecca Hawkins: 4500 LP-0000 LP
With a resounding explosion of light, Rebecca's Life Points dropped to zero, and the crowd erupted into cheers, witnessing Sona's stunning comeback and victory.
As the smoke cleared, Sona stood tall, her heart racing with triumph. "I told you I wouldn't let your underestimations hold me back!"
Rebecca staggered back, her expression shifting from shock to respect. "Alright, Sona, you got me this time. You're not just some pretty face from Kuoh Academy; you really are a strong duelist!"
Sona smiled, a mix of relief and exhilaration flooding through her. "Thank you, Rebecca. I hope this changes how you see me and my school."
With the duel concluded, the audience erupted in applause, recognizing the skill and determination of both duelists. Sona had proven herself not only as a duelist but as someone who would not back down in the face of challenges.
As she took a bow, Sona couldn't help but feel that this was just the beginning of her journey—a journey filled with challenges, friendships, and triumphs ahead.
The arena erupted with applause as the crowd celebrated Sona's impressive victory. Fans waved banners, cheering both duelists for their fierce battle. "Great duel, Sona! You really showed her!" shouted one spectator, while another called out, "Rebecca, you fought hard too! Don't give up!"
Pegasus stepped forward, a broad grin on his face, and raised his hands to quiet the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen, what an incredible match we just witnessed! Let's hear it for both duelists!" The audience cheered louder, appreciating the skill and strategy displayed by Sona and Rebecca.
"With that final blow, I declare Sona Sitri the winner!" Pegasus announced, his voice booming through the arena.
Sona smiled, waving to the crowd, her heart swelling with pride. She felt the camaraderie in the air and knew she had earned the respect of her peers.
As the cheers settled, Pegasus turned his attention to Rebecca. "And Rebecca, I have a special opportunity for you. I'd like you to stay after the next two rounds for a unique chance to hone your skills and showcase your talents further. What do you say?"
Rebecca, still catching her breath, looked at Pegasus with wide eyes. The chance to improve and gain recognition was too good to pass up. "Absolutely! I'd love that!" she replied with renewed enthusiasm, her competitive spirit ignited.
"Excellent!" Pegasus grinned. "Now, let's see who our next duelists will be!" He gestured toward the giant randomizer, and the lights dimmed as it whirred and spun.
The audience watched in anticipation as the machine clicked and clacked, finally coming to a stop. The screen illuminated the names: Ishizu Ishtar vs. Duke Devlin.
The crowd buzzed with excitement as the two headed down to the arena.
Ishizu Ishtar, known for her insightful strategies and unique Millennium Item, will face off against Duke Devlin, the charismatic duelist known for his skill with the Dice Monsters game.
"Ishizu's intellect will be a formidable challenge for Duke," Pegasus whispered to Jasmine. "But Dukey-Boy has a knack for surprising everyone with his tactics!"
As the two duelists made their way to the arena, Sona couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with Rebecca. They exchanged glances, each recognizing the fire of competition within the other.
The atmosphere crackled with tension as Ishizu and Duke approached their respective sides of the field. The crowd hushed, eager to see what strategies would unfold in this next exciting duel.
Pegasus announced, "Let the duel begin!"
The excitement in the air was palpable as the crowd prepared for yet another clash of wills in this grand tournament.
"Get ready because when it comes to games, I'm always lucky with my draws."
"Draws cannot always win, as you'll soon see, for I already know how this will end."
Duke and Ishizu said to each other as Ishizu's Millenium Item activated to show her the future.
Scene!
I wanted to show Rebecca as a genius who wants to attend Kuoh Academy due to her massive intellect but struggles because others always underestimate her, which is why I wanted her to face Sona Sitri.
And now the time has come to see who will win this duel! The power of Fate, or the power of Luck for Duke Devlin, is a very 'lucky' card in his Deck that will soon be shown.
Next Time: Luck vs Fate.
