The past two days of the kunoichi known as Sakura Haruno, member of the Hidden Leaf's Team 7, has been the most stressful & exhausting days that she has experienced of her entire life.

Day 1 had started off normal, with her waking up to her mother's voice & her father's laughter, which was good seeing as she had just finished a week of sleeping without a shower or good food in the Land of Waves.

After a quick shower to wash off the grime from the night's sleep, she had a quick breakfast with her parents before rushing off to join the rest of her team at the front gate of Training Grounds 44 where she was to partake in the second exam of the Chunin Exams.

There, they were told that the name of the training ground was actually the Forest Of Death, which was enough to make her reconsider taking part, and that they were supposed to fight the other teams in the exams to get one scroll that is the opposite of their own.

At least, that's how it was supposed to be.

It wasn't even half an hour into the exams that they were attacked by some guy called Orochimaru, who Sakura had remembered just a few hours ago was actually one of the Legendary Sannin and made her realise how close to death they truly were.

The Sannin were known to be some of the most powerful shinobi born to the Leaf that were trained by the Third Hokage himself and it was said that each of them was equal to an entire Jonin platoon.

In other words, S-Class shinobi at minimum that can each take on a Kage by themselves, the strongest shinobi of a village.

The fact that they managed to survive with as little injuries as they did, Sakura didn't know what divine being was looking over them, but she was thankful for every minute that she was currently living after that battle.

However, they did not escaped unscathed as the man had knocked out Naruto with one blow before knocking Sasuke out by biting him on his neck & injecting something into his body if the mark on his neck was something to be concerned about.

Thus, she was left to take care of the boys until they wake up and she thought that it would be just simple protection duty with the odd animal attack here & there until one or both of the boys woke up to take over.

Unfortunately, that couldn't have been further from the truth as they were attacked the very next day by a group of three Sound Shinobi, who had been ordered by Orochimaru to take out Sasuke.

She had tried her best to take them out and even had some help from a few friends, but the group of shinobi were ruthless and all had seemed hopeless when they took them all out while advancing towards Sasuke…but then her teammate in question woke up.

Except, she knew something was wrong when Sasuke woke up with black flame markings covering the left side of his body while a malicious aura could be felt radiating from his body.

The sheer malice & sadism that burned in Sasuke's eyes when he took out the team of Sound shinobi with ease…

It scared her. To say she was terrified of her teammate when she saw him in that state was an understatement, but she forced herself through the fear and managed to bring him back.

Now, as she sat while her former best friend Ino tried her best to make her hair presentable after she had cut it off when a Sound shinobi grabbed it, she watched as Sasuke looked off into the forest while Shikamaru & Choji, Ino's teammates, were too busy sitting to the side & planning something.

Her other teammate was also awake, but to be honest, she…she was a bit confused at his behaviour.

Naruto had woken up with a gasp & in a cold sweat which she couldn't blame him for given what he went through before he was knocked out, but it was when she saw him looking around frantically that she knew something was off.

Even now, as she watched him slowly pace around the makeshift camp she had made with his arms crossed, she watched him mutter stuff to himself while taking wary yet confused glances at them.

A behaviour that was in stark contrast to his usual boisterous & loud mannerisms.

"And there! That should do it." Sakura blinked as she heard Ino's voice, looking at the mirror held out in front of her before smiling slightly at the cute hairstyle Ino had given her.

"Thank you. It's…okay."

"Okay? Oh, you know it's amazing."

"Sure, it is." Sakura spoke with a smirk as she stood up, turning around & giggling as she saw Ino rolling her eyes while her hands rested on her hips.

"You know it is. Anyway, we need to go…unless we can take a scroll of your hands?"

"We only have the Earth Scroll, I believe." Sakura spoke while looking at the purple scroll that Sasuke was holding in a tight grasp, to which Ino looked at Shikamaru before groaning as he simply shook his head.

"Urgh, and here I thought we could get an easy scroll. Well, I'll send you a bill. Both for the hair and for saving your behind like usual."

"Add it to the others because I'm never paying them." Sakura spoke and Ino simply scoffed as she nodded, turning before leaping into the forest with Choji & Shikamaru leaping after her.

Turning back around to face her own team, she looked to see Sasuke looking at her before frowning as he gestured to their other teammate.

"Uh, Naruto?" Sakura called out before blinking as her teammate simply glanced at them before shaking his head & walking back into the hollowed-out tree that he had awoken under.

'Hah, that's to be expected given how quickly we all lost.' She thought with a sigh before turning to Sasuke with a helpless shrug, smirking slightly as her teammate simply gave an exasperated sigh before blinking as he tossed the scroll to her & stood up.

As she watched him walking towards the hollow tree camp, she could only hope that the two of them don't start a fight like they usually do.

'Oh, who am I kidding? I guess I'm on guard duty to make sure nothing gets destroyed.'

'This cannot be happening.' The thought repeated itself over & over in my mind as I paced inside the hollowed-out section of the tree, confused & terrified at my current predicament which I knew I did not sign up for.

I mean, most people my age would have been ecstatic to have been placed in a fictional universe that they grew up watching as this would give them the chance to make changes that they wanted or live out the best life that they can.

However, I…felt terrified, partly because I wasn't as much of a fan of the reincarnation/ self-insert genre of stories as most people my age and partly because I was a little bitch.

Violence? On a video game, I was an advocate of the phrase 'Violence is the question and the answer is always yes'.

In real life? You would find me to be the biggest coward in the history of cowards.

I could throw a punch or two, yes, but in an actual fight, I'm as helpful as an ejector seat in a helicopter, i.e. I'd cause more harm to my own side than the other one.

So, when I woke up in not only one of the more violent fictional universes that I have watched over the years, but also as that very universe's main protagonist, you could bet your left nut that I was completely & utterly terrified.

If I had some skill, I would be a lot more confident in being here, but when I have the ability to trip over my own feet while walking down the road, one could understand why I am cautious as I am.

"Oi, idiot. You good?" I blinked as I heard a familiar voice, turning around to see Sasuke Uchiha standing at the entrance of the hollowed-out tree with a frown on his face & his arms crossed.

'Huh, his hair really looks like a bird butt from the right angle.'

"Uh, yeah. Just a bit…shaken." I answered with a shaky smile and I knew Sasuke could see through my lie as his frown deepened before scoffing as he nodded.

"Good, because I want to pass these exams and I don't want you to be a liability on top of Sakura."

"Sure, sure." I spoke and Sasuke nodded as he turned & walked back out, to which I waited a few moments before letting out a soft yet shaky sigh as I sat down on the ground.

'That…was a lot more stressful than I thought it would be.' That was probably one of the more stressful moments of my life, which says a lot considering it was just a twelve year old Sasuke that was talking to me instead of someone like the Akatsuki or the Hokage.

'Well, isn't this quite the nice start for my new life?'

'Left jab. Right cross. Back. High kick. Back. Spinning heel kick. Leaping spin kick. Flip back. Stomp kick into an overhead punch. Man, this new body is agile.' I thought with a smirk as I ran through the few fighting memories that I was able to retain with this body.

Naruto wasn't the best fighter, but he was still a trained fighter since the age of six and combine that with the combination of physical prowess that came with being both an Uzumaki & the Jinchuriki of the Nine Tailed Fox…

Forgive my Orochimaru for appearing, but this young body felt incredible.

However, while it was a slow path to get used to & relearn the muscle memory of this body, the mental aspect that was Naruto Uzumaki himself was all but engraved into my core.

Even now, as I thought about just quitting the exams and running off to who knows where, I felt pure disgust at the thought and at the fact that I would run from a challenge, especially with the fact that I possessed knowledge of my enemies & how to beat them.

Whether that was the Naruto part of me or the psychotic gamer part of me that was talking, I couldn't say, but they were the only things that were also keeping me active & distracted at the moment.

"What are you doing?" I was interrupted from my training by the voice of Sakura from the side, looking over to see her looking at me with a curious expression while the Earth Scroll laid at her side.

"Training. What else?"

"You call that training? I know you never studied in the academy, but even I know your taijutsu is better than…whatever that was."

"What was wrong? The movements were pretty good."

"Really? They don't mesh together at all and you're practically stumbling all over the place like a headless chicken. Kicking the air only to bring your leg down & leap for an axe kick leaves you open from below. Also, that backflip was not covered up by a shuriken throw so someone could just rush forward & break your spine with one attack."

'…Right, I forgot that kids knowing how to break someone's spine is common in this world.' I thought with a frown after hearing Sakura's casual comment about my spine breaking as while child soldiers were not uncommon in the modern times that I were from, it was rare to see and/ or meet such a child on the streets as you walk by.

"Thanks."

"No problem. You know, you're a lot more…calm now than before."

"Getting my ass kicked by that snake guy like it was nothing was a real eye-opener." I answered as I punched with my left, this time making sure to feint a reach for the shuriken pouch for my side while leaping back slightly.

"I guess even you could feel down after something like that, huh?" I heard her mutter and looked over to see the dejected look on her face as she stoked the warm coals in front of her.

'Should I…? Eh, why not?'

"At least you got to do something when you protected the dumbass & me. If you weren't there, we would probably be having a grand time in the Afterlife right about now." I said as I feinted a left hook while actually kicking low with my left foot, making it as if I was pulling someone's leg forward before swinging my elbow forward to target their neck.

"…Thank you. Also, no calling Sasuke a dumbass. That seems more fit for you."

"No problem and I can call him whatever I like because he is a dumbass." I said with a smirk as I saw her expression lighting up & giggling softly, a soft chuckle escaping my lips as I shook my head & turned back to my shadow fighting.

Hah, these memories are going to take a while to get used to.

"Say, do you think we should open this?" Sakura asked after a few moments of silence, to which I blinked as I turned to see her holding up the purple Earth Scroll.

"Uh, I don't think we should. The crazy snake lady said that bad stuff are going to happen if we do and I for one have had enough bad stuff happening to us in the last couple of days. The past day of rest has been fun and I don't feel like fighting something right now."

"Yeah, that is true. I don't believe it could be something as big as Orochimaru, but I'm way too tired to be dealing with anything else." She muttered and I nodded as I turned back before freezing at the figure walking towards us.

If I didn't know who the bespectacled spymaster was, I would have been put at ease by his happy smile & the wave he gave as he made his way towards us, Sakura smiling as she waved back.

'Kabuto Yakushi. Of course my first day as Naruto couldn't have been an easy one.'

A/N: And here we are! The first chapter of…what do I call this? You know what? Drop your title suggestions down below & I'll pick the one I like.

Anyway, in this story, I'm going to be taking more from my sarcastic, crude & psychotic gamer self as I call it in this story as I've always been writing my self-inserts as this good yet socially-awkward guy.

Just to be clear, it's not going to be a full on edgy type of guy in this. It's still going to be someone that likes to live life to its fullest, but if needed, he can be ruthless & deadly.

Also, forgot to add but this story will roughly follow canon and roughly just divert to the far sides whenever I feel like it. Some filler will be canon to expand upon the verse & there will also be some original missions/ arcs to aid in that, so if that's not your cup of tea and you're just looking for something else, I bid you farewell.

P.S. selfless promotion but if you want to read seven chapters ahead on this story as well as many others, go ahead to Pat-Reon-/-KingCrimsonNova & join us. If you don't want to, you don't have to. This is just a way for me to make some extra cash.

That's about it, so as always, read, enjoy, review and until the next one…
