"Wait, what?" I asked in surprise as I looked at Jiraiya, still half-asleep as I had just woken up while the sage rolled his eyes as he leaned against the railing outside my front door.
"Like I said, there was an attack on the village yesterday and we lost one of our Chunin, but so far, we've managed to identify the culprits so we're preparing accordingly."
'God fucking damnit, me! Did you have to let our inner Deidara go loose?! Wouldn't a quick clone swarm have worked all right too?!'I thought with a shake of my head before I blinked as I remembered my training and the exams.
"W-Wait, what about my training, then? A-And the exams?"
"Hah, don't worry about that. Both are still ongoing, but we're just going to triple security for that day…even though I told the old man that we should just stop them until the threat has passed but no~ Saru-sensei thinks he knows best like always."
"Wait, Saru-sensei? You know Old Man Hokage?"
"How did you know I was talking about the old man? Also, don't listen to me when I'm talking to myself."
"You're in front of my door so I'll listen when I like. Also, I didn't know you were talking about him. He just seems like the only other old guy that I know that fit the name."
"…Huh, and here I thought you were just a stupid blonde."
"Just wait until I kick your ass, Pervy Sage."
"Stop calling me that and the day you can kick my ass is the day I finally decide to jump in a coffin, keel over and die. Now, get ready! We're burning daylight!" He exclaimed while barging past me to plop down on the one sofa in the apartment, to which I looked at him before forcing the burst of murderous thoughts back as I made my way to the shower.
'You need him, man. You need him for training.'
"So, what are we starting with first today? Some new ninjutsu? Oh, maybe some taijutsu?" I asked while shadow-boxing with the air only to blink as Jiraiya chuckled while turning my head towards the river flowing past the riverbed we were standing on.
"You were busy with trying out the Water Walking Exercise, right? Then, finish that and then we'll talk."
"…Well~ Then I might need your help." I said with a sheepish grin and Jiraiya rolled his eyes as he sat down.
"No, I'm not explaining it again. Now, go."
"I'm pretty sure anything you tell me just going to sound stupid. No, I mean like I might need your help with fixing my chakra control."
"What do you mean by fixing it?" He asked with a confused look and I shrugged as I plopped down on the pebbly floor in front of him.
"I don't know. Ever since we fought that Orochimaru & his damn snakes in the forest, my chakra hasn't been working like I want it to. Well, it has, but not in the way that I remembered." That wasn't a complete lie as I could still control & move my chakra as I wished, but it kind of felt less like I was moving it and more like I was forcing it to move my way.
Then again, I'm new to this shinobi stuff so maybe it should be like that.
"You fought Orochimaru? You?" I blinked as I tuned back into the real world only to frown at Jiraiya's dubious look.
"Not on my own, you dumbass pervert."
"Oi! Learn to speak better to your elders!"
"Be glad I don't call you a perverted old fart, you damn geezer!" I shouted back, the two of us glaring at each other before we huffed in unison and crossed our arms.
"Whatever, cheeky little shit. Now, you say you fought Orochimaru. What does that have to do with you having trouble with your chakra control?" He asked and I frowned as I reached down & pulled up my shirt & jacket, focusing chakra to my abdomen before the Double Tetragram Seal & the Five Element Seal appeared around my bellybutton.
"See, I know about the swirling pattern, but those five tomoe on the outside are completely new and I only remember seeing them after Orochimaru did something and slammed his hand into my stomach."
"Hmm, can I see it?" He asked and I nodded as I stood up, watching as the man leaned forward while rubbing his hand on my stomach.
It kind of tickled, but I suppressed my giggles as I waited before grinning as he hummed & stood up.
"Shirt & jacket off." He said and I blinked as there was a commanding tone in his voice that was not there before.
Realizing that I was now in front of Jiraiya the Toad Sage, it felt a lot more tense as I took off my jacket & shirt, the man humming as he pulled up his right sleeve while five blue flames with kanji in the centre of them appeared on the fingers of his right hand.
"Now, raise your hand high and take a deep breath." He said and I nodded as I slowly raised my hands up as high as I can before taking a deep breath.
Before I could even blink, spittle flew from my mouth as the wind was knocked out of my lungs, my vision spinning as I felt myself skidding across the ground.
"You good?!" I heard Jiraiya call out after I finally was able to process up from down, slowly sitting up to see myself lying a few meters away from the smirking sage.
"…Ow."
"Eh, pain is temporary. So, how do you feel now?" He asked and I blinked as I stood up, flowing my chakra through my body before my eyes widened as it responded to my call without delay & made me feel energized.
That's not even mentioning the fact that I could feel an ominous presence now in the back of my mind, the power from it nearly making me choke as I slowly pushed it away.
'W-Was…was that the Nine-Tails' chakra? H-Holy shit, that was intense.' It felt as if I was standing naked in the middle of a hurricane and the devil himself was standing in front of me.
"Oi, Naruto." I blinked as I heard Jiraiya's voice, tuning out of my fear to see the man looking at me with a slightly concerned look.
"Are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah. Just…a bit queasy."
"Eh, I may have hit you a tad too hard."
"It's fine. Anyway, water walking, right?" I asked, pushing the fear as far back as I could as I made my way towards the river.
"Nice & easy. Just one step and we'll…huh?" I asked in confusion & bewilderment as my foot attached to the river water, putting the other one down too before blinking at how easy it was to do so.
Jumping from foot to foot, I grinned as it felt as if I was jumping on solid land before I took off, hearing Jiraiya's snort as I dashed up & down a few times before skiing across the water to a stop right in front of him.
"And water walking is done! That was easy."
"Considering Kakashi has probably been drilling you guys in the Tree Walking Exercise until you can do it in your sleep, it's not that much of a surprise." Jiraiya said with a shrug and I blinked as I walked onto the beach.
"Wait, how'd you know that?"
"That's probably what Minato taught them, which is what I taught him & his team, which is what Saru-sensei taught us. Drill the basics until you dream about them" He answered and I frowned slightly before giving a slow nod.
"I…see. Anyway, what's up next?" I asked before blinking as he threw a scroll at me.
"That was supposed to be your reward from Ebisu, but he gave it to me and now I'm giving it to you. Read it and after you're done, we're going to continue on with my training. Now, I'm off to my research." He said with a grin and I watched as the man vanished in front of my eyes, shaking my head before grinning in excitement as I sat down & opened the scroll.
Water Style: Liquid Bullet
By kneading chakra inside the stomach & converting its composition to that of water, the jutsu allows the user to shoot out the water as orb-shaped projectiles.
The power of the orb travel quickly towards the target and their destructive capabilities are determined by how much chakra is used to fuel the jutsu.
The Hand Sign is Tiger and then you spit out the water like you're spitting.
P.S. Hey Naruto, I had another jutsu that I thought you would like, but the Hidden Mist jutsu didn't fit your fighting style so I decided not to.
Anyway, enjoy and hope you figure it out.
'Isn't this the jutsu that Gamabunta used against Shukaku? I guess Kakashi really does know a lot of jutsu.' I thought with a smirk as I unrolled the scroll to read further before giving a deadpan stare as there was nothing after Kakashi's words.
"I have to figure it out myself? …Hah, just like Kakashi-sensei." I grumbled before standing up, looking around & running through a few thought processes before nodding as I made a cross hand sign.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu." Unlike before, five clones appeared seamlessly in front of me, all five grinning widely as I put my hands on my waist before speaking.
"All right, boys! We have 30 days to get as strong as we need to for the Exams so we're going to split up into two teams. Team 1 is going to be me & two clones and we're going to be doing taijutsu on the river. Team 2 is going to be you other three and your job is to stand on the river with one foot while training the new water jutsu."
"And how the hell are we supposed to do that? We don't even know how to make Water Chakra." A clone on the corner asked and I grinned before shrugging.
"That's your problem, brother. Now then, move out! You two, with me!" I called out as I turned & walked towards the river, hearing the grumbles from the other three as all six of us walked out onto the river before splitting into our respective groups.
"So, what are the rules?" The clone on the right asked and I frowned as I crossed my arms before answering.
"No weapons, no jutsu, no holds barred. You guys win by knocking me out & making me tap and I win by…well, punching you once & dispelling you. Those rules sound good?"
"Wait, before we start, how the hell did the clone that blew up managed to get hit and not get dispelled by that attack?" The one on the right eyes and I stared at him with a bewildered look before I frowned as I remembered the memory rush that came in when I was getting ready for training.
"I…don't know. Perhaps since I gave him most of my chakra, he probably forced himself to live on just for a few more seconds to attract Baki's attention and blow himself up?"
"Huh, guess we can add that to the things of Shadow Clones that we're still learning about." I nodded at the clone's words before slapping myself lightly as I rolled my shoulders.
"Anyway, back to training! You two need a moment to get ready?"
"Nope. We're ready." The left clone said with a nod as it looked at its fellow clone, who nodded before I grinned and nodded.
"Okay then! Let's beg-!" Before I could even finish my sentence, I leaned to the side as the left one had already rushed forward and tried to punch me, the clone frowning as he gave a quick barrage of jabs that I leaned out of the way of.
Pushing away the punches of it as I back-pedalled, I frowned as I saw the other clone rushing to me from the side, catching the first clone's fist before pulling him to the side while using his shoulder as support to flip over the second clone with a spin & a smirk.
Landing on the river, both clones turned to face me before they flinched back as I kicked up water, chakra flowing to my fist as I rushed forward & landed a heavy gut punch into the first clone's chest.
The clone wheezed before abruptly popping, making me flinch slightly at the loud pop before I grunted as I felt someone slamming into my side and straddle me as I landed back first on the water.
Raising my arms to cover my face, I grunted as fist after fist slammed into it, wincing slightly with each punch before quickly slapping away a punch and pushing my hips upwards, making the clone stumble forward before he grunted as I spun & kicked at his shoulder.
However, I cursed as it was just a grazing blow and simply made him roll across the water, quickly rolling to my feet before frowning as I saw that he did the exact same.
A tense silence hung in the air as we both stood up, slowly starting to walk in a wide circle while I frowned as I shook my arms to get rid of the sting in them.
Coming to a stop, the clone did the same before we began walking towards the other, a smirk appearing on my face as I rolled my shoulders before I moved.
Chakra flowed through my body like adrenaline as I lunged forward, the clone ducking to the ground as my heel kick barely missed his skull, the clone leaping up to grab my waist before grunting as I slammed a knee into its chest.
However, the clone decided to petty & dispelled with a loud & high-pitched pop, leaving me stumbling back as I heard nothing but ringing reverberating in my skull.
'Oh…oh, that's…that's a bitch move, me…Oh, I don't feel so good.' I groaned as I slowly stumbled back to shore, my legs shaking as I laid down until my vision stopped spinning.
"Ooh~ That sounded rough." I finally heard one of the clones say, looking over to see one of them looking amused while the others were busy drinking & spitting out water.
"Wha- urgh~ What are…what are you guys doing?" I asked, watching as the first one shrugged while the other two continued playing/ training.
"A bit of an improvised method. First, we learn how to drink & spit out water rapidly. Then, we figure out how to infuse water with chakra & form them into bullets as we spit them out. Finally, when we're done mastering how to spit out water as well as know its exact composition, we'll learn to spit out water bullets without a water source."
"Ah, the old Conjuration training that Kurapika did? Get so used to water that you eat, shit & sleep water, eh?" I responded with a smirk while standing up, the clone grinning as he gave me a thumbs-up before we turned as we heard a pop, looking at the other two clones to see one of them looking shocked while the other's smoke faded.
"…Uh, I may have figured out how to infuse chakra into the water and made a blade with it." He said and the other clone simply blinked as I smirked with a devious glint in my eyes.
'This...might be easier than I thought.'
"…What am I looking at here?" Jiraiya asked as he walked out of the bushes and I blinked as I looked at him before turning back at the chaos in front of me.
"Fire!" The five clones on the right shouted and the ones on the left nodded as they took a sip of water from below them before spitting out a barrage of water bullets, to which the ones on the right leapt up & over them.
"Fire!" The ones on the left shouted this time as soon as the clones on the right landed, to which they nodded as they took a sip from the river water before spitting out water bullets.
"Uh, training?"
"I've been gone for just a few hours and you've descended into madness already."
"Eh, I told you to train me. It's your fault that you decided to go away." He answered and I rolled my eyes as I raised my hand with my index & middle fingers straightened out & the others curled in.
With a thought, the ones on the right dispelled and this time, I swiftly sorted through the information with ease before dispelling the ones on the left, rubbing the soreness in my left temple as I turned to the confused Jiraiya.
"And now why did you dispel them?"
"Secret~ So, you finally ready to train me?" I asked as I turned to look at him, the Sage simply staring at me with a frown before huffing as he plopped down on the ground.
"Fine~ Keep your secrets because I'm not teaching you the jutsu I had in mind, then. We're going with the second option."
"What second option?" I asked with a raised eyebrow before my eyes widened as the man simply grinned as he bit his right thumb and traced a line of blood on the palm of his free hand.
"Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram. Summoning Jutsu." Jiraiya intoned and my excitement went through the roof as I watched a large kanji circle with multiple kanji patterns protruding from the centre appeared on the ground below Jiraiya.
As the man was obscured by a large puff of smoke, I grinned as it faded away to reveal him standing on the orange frog from before, its body covered in blue markings & bandages wrapped around its body along with the scroll that it held with its tongue.
"This is a Summoning scroll, a rare scroll that only a select few are allowed to sign. With it and by going through a couple of hand signs, it allows you to summon the animal clan to which this scroll belongs by forging a contract with them by signing your name in blood." He explained as the toad dropped the scroll on the ground, rolling it out to reveal numerous names written in blood along with the fingerprints of one hand underneath each name.
"Wait, is this how you can summon the toad?" I 'asked' and he smirked & nodded while patting the toad's head.
"For the record, his name is Gama and he is the safekeeper of the Toad Scroll. Now, do you want to sign in?"
"You expect me to see all that and not sign?" I asked with a scoff as I knelt down, readying myself as I put my right thumb in my mouth and bit down hard.
The slight sting & the taste of my blood made me flinch slightly as I felt it flowing into my mouth, reaching down & slowly signing my name on the scroll before tapping each finger on the wound and stamping my fingerprints below my name.
"Okay. Now what?" I asked and he shrugged as Gama rolled the scroll back up.
"You saw me. Now, you do it." He said and I nodded slowly as I stood up.
"Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram. Summoning Jutsu!" I exclaimed as I slammed my hand on the ground, fuelling as much chakra as I could into it before my eyes widened as a monstrous cloud of smoke obscured my vision.
Having expected myself to summon a tadpole, I blinked in surprise at the green slimy floor below my feet before my eyes widened as a pair of eyes looked up at me as the light red bow it had on twitched
"Well, hello, cutie~"
A/N: And here we are with the next chapter~!
If you can figure out who that frog is, I salute you for having suffered with me through the Naruto Filler after the Pain Arc, which I think is when this toad was first shown. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Now, to explain, the reason this Naruto can summon a full on toad while canon one can't is one simple reason that I also overlooked until someone mentioned it to me. As we all know, chakra has a yin & a yang side, yin being mental and yang being physical. Naruto in the show had a crap ton of yang chakra but not enough yin as we all knew of his stupidity due to being a Shonen protagonist.
However, our new SI is a mature adult and thus had more than enough yin chakra to add to the equation to balance it all out.
I'm sure everyone can figure out what I'm getting to here, but basically, big yang + small yin =chakra control struggle. Now add big yin to the equation and we get good chakra control.
Don't worry. I'm dumbing it down for myself so I can't forget it so easy anymore.
Like always, you can go to my Pat-reon-.-com-/-KingCrimsonNova to read ahead on this as well as many other stories & even some that haven't been released out to this site yet. If you want to, you are free to, but if you don't want, all's good as I will still be uploading here. This is just me trying to get some extra cash.
