Summary: The will of a hero is strong, yet unwavering but all good things must come to an end, even at the cost of one's Heroic Will. Imprisoned and blamed for a crime he hadn't committed, Bell seeks a way out of his predicament so that he can live without fear of being hunted by the people he once looked up to.
2: Kauhea Forbande
Normal POV
=Kauhea Forbande, Underground=
Bell was roughly thrown into his cell before the door slammed with a loud bang and a click. He looked up to see… darkness. The room they had thrown him in was pitch black and quiet with only a tiny slit by the door as a source for light. He looked around, trying to find anything within the room.
From what he could tell, the room was extraordinarily small, only allowing him to take 2 steps in a single direction before he came face first with a wall or the door.
The room was also underground, meaning that escaping would be a hell of a task, even without the damn adamantium door that he had seen before they threw him in here.
Eventually he had searched the tiny cell, only finding a single bucket in one of the corners. Was that supposed to be used to relieve oneself? The utter disgusting living standards caused the reality of the situation to kick in within Bell's mind. He was in jail… He had been sentenced to jail, and people probably thought he killed his own goddess!
He glided down the wall as his hands came up to his face, before slowly gripping his hair tight. He started to hyperventilate, desperately trying to keep his mind from breaking into tiny pieces.
Blood dripped from his fingers, gliding down his face. Dismembered body parts littered the ground around him.
His blade, cutting through flesh and bone. Him relishing in the feeling of it all, slaughtering his opponents, even if they were sentient beings, just like him.
"NO!" Bell screamed as he thrashed, trying to get the images and sensations to stop.
The sight of Hestia's divine blood, splashed to the side as a gurgle escaped her throat. The man behind her, having sliced her throat open, smirking like a maniac. Him dashing forward and using the same blade that was drenched in Hestia's blood, to slay the man that killed her.
"Please… Please stop it…" Bell said quietly as tears started to leak once again. He so longed for his familias comforting words, their loving gazes at him as they supported him no matter what.
'But I will never have that again' A sinister voice said in his head as he let out a thick sob.
Minutes passed like hours for him, time felt like it couldn't go slower as all the pain he had gone through was pushed to the forefront of his mind.
Eventually, Hours had passed with Bell left alone to his thoughts before the door was thrown open as one of the guards roughly grabbed Bell's arm and threw him up on his feet and pushed him forward
"Move it, it's labor time" Bell didn't follow the order, and in response, the guard hit him hard in his gut making him lose his breath and double over.
"Get the fuck up, and move down the god damn hallway, but by all means, don't follow my order. I would so much like to have more fun" The guard said with a hint of amusement in his challenge.
Bell got up and moved forward, the straight passageway was simplistic. The walls seemed to be made out of simple stone bricks and that was basically it. Lanterns were hanging from the walls, so that one could see.
As they continued down the hallway, they eventually reached a door which the guard opened, revealing a massively dug out room that clearly looked like a quarry. Other inmates seemed to be using pickaxes to mine various amounts of different ores ranging from copper all the way to adamantium.
"How are there so many different ores here?" Bell asked quietly as the guard was about to hit him before he was stopped.
Bell looked back, seeing a large man with a scar across his face, looking angry at the guard.
"Daxter, we may be allowed to roughen up the inmates, but don't you think that's kind of stupid before they do labor? How are they supposed to work if they are knocked out or in constant pain?" The guard known as Daxter seemed to shrink back as he started stuttering
"Sorry, Warden. I wasn't thinking straight" The warden nodded at the apology, before pointing towards a door far away. The guard scurried off before the warden turned to Bell, softening his gaze
"Sorry about him. Most guards here aren't really lenient. My name is Adrian, Adrian Forleen, and I am the warden of this place" Bell nodded carefully before bowing down respectfully
"Bell Cranel, Adven… Ex-adventurer, it's nice to meet you, " Bell corrected himself half-way, as the warden smiled
"Heh, at least you got manners, but please, call me warden" Bell nodded before the waren looked to the side
"As for your question about the ores. This building is situated upon one of the richest mineral deposits in the world. The only minerals that don't exist here are the ones that are man made like the Durandal attribute" Bell nodded, still a sullen smile on his face.
"Hey, don't worry, this place might be a hell hole, but not everything is all bad. But you do need to know the rules" Adrian sighed at the end.
"First off, always listen to the guards. This is kind of an unspoken one since the guards are all some sick weirdos that like beating on people" Bell nodded, a drop of sweat running down his face.
"Second off, do your best with everything you're assigned to" Bell nodded
"And lastly, never, and I mean never try to escape. The guards have the clearance to kill potential escapees on sight from basically every single nation. This prison is meant to keep the most dangerous criminals locked up forever, which means we can't leave anything to chance" Bell gulped as he looked down.
"Oh, and as a side note. I know you're not a bad person, after all, a certain skeleton told me all about you. He seemed to give you a lot of praise, which means a lot coming from him!" Bell was gobsmacked at that. He only knew one person that matched that description, Fel-
"Now grab a pickaxe and get to work. If you need a break, just wave at me but I expect you to work until your body won't allow it anymore" he interrupted Bell's thoughts. Bell went to the place Adrian pointed at where the gear was at, the pickaxes were good, but there was a stone in the center of the it.
"That stone prevents any damage to another sentient being! In other words, it's useless as a weapon, courtesy of Perseus!" Bell nodded as he started heading towards an empty spot and brought the pick above his head before slamming it down onto the ore below him.
Sparks flew as the rock around the ore broke a little. Going dungeon diving for 4 months had really helped his basic physical capabilities. Even without the Falna, the boy was seriously strong for his age and size.
Adrian smiled at seeing the boy work. It was clear he was a hard worker, since anyone that wasn't would protest or do it half heartedly.
For the next 3 hours, Bell managed to get a lot of work done, nearly completely clearing his entire side of ores entirely. The only thing left was some Orichalcum and Adamantite, the two most troublesome ores to mine because of their toughness and deep roots.
Bell was the last of the miners to check out. It was mandatory to mine for about one hour and a half, but you were able to do it for longer than that for rewards. No one else stayed since the mining was tough as well as boring, but to Bell, it allowed him to ponder his thoughts.
In just 3 days, his life had gone from nearly everything he could hope for, to nothing at all. He had lost his Hestia knife, probably dropped it when Dix knocked him out in the Hearth Mansion. His goddess had died. His reputation was so low he might as well be a damn thrall, and lastly, which ties in with the second point. He had lost his only remaining family and friends, not that he knew what they thought.
Bell carried the last hunk of Metal to the check in station where Adrian was manning at this moment, and dropped it into its corresponding bin depending on which ore it was.
"Impressive. You have set a record your first day here. There has never been anyone that has ever dug out this amount of ores in the 400 years this prison had been standing" Adrian announced to Bell as he nodded with an approving smile.
"As a reward, we will shorten your isolation time to a week instead of a month. If I could, I would remove it entirely, but rules are rules. After that week you will be put in the A-block, Cell number 250. As a bonus for working so hard, even on your first day, I can give you the chance to have one visitor of your choosing for 30 minutes after the week is up" Adrian said with a smile as Bell's eyes widened and lit up.
"Thank you, Adr- Warden" Bell caught himself as the warden smiled.
"Now, could you head back to your cell? I trust you since a certain skeleton does" Bell stopped for a second before looking back at him
"How do you know him?" Adrian just winked as he motioned towards the hallway labeled 'Isolation ward'
Bell understood and headed towards the door before he heard the warden call out to him
"We will bring you food in an hour, so get ready for that!" Bell nodded before continuing to the door, opening it and moving forward.
Eventually, he saw the familiar door of the Cell he had been in. A guard that he hadn't met before was leaning on said door, before he stood straight and opened the door.
Bell walked inside, before the door closed with a click. Back within the darkness, Bell sat down and waited once again.
As promised, after a while, food arrived, or at least a poor imitation of it. It was a sloppy mess of ingredients only meant to give the body what it needed exactly alongside a glass of water.
Bell greedily ate the disgusting mess before setting it aside by the door, he needed food to grow, that's one thing that had become painfully obvious as an adventurer. Having been dirt poor for the majority of the time, Bell had learnt that sometimes one just had to suck it up and eat it, no matter how bad it tastes.
After a while, the guard came back to take the tray and glass before closing it again, leaving Bell to his thoughts. Even though Bell acted normally earlier, now alone in the dark with his thoughts, his eyes had darkened considerably. If it was bright enough to see him, one would think it was a living corpse.
As Bell got more and more tired, he eventually fell asleep, before waking up multiple times at night screaming at the nightmares he had.
=Kauhea Forbande, 7 days later=
The days had passed in a monotone pattern, Bell's mental health deteriorating as time became unreadable. There was no way of knowing if it was night or day up on the surface, the only source of light being the lanterns and magic lamps around the prison.
Bell's day always consisted of waking up, eating breakfast before being left alone until hours later before being taken to the mine. He spent 3 hours there every day as it was the only thing he got to do that distracted him. After that was said and done, he got back to his isolation cell, waiting for dinner, eating it then going to sleep.
It had felt like he had been here for years, but in reality it had only been a measly week.
Today was different though, Bell was still very quiet and had a sullen look in his eyes, but on the inside, he was kind of excited.
Today he was going to be able to see her again. For the person he had chosen to invite to visit him, he had chosen Ais. He knew he was reaching for straws, but he hoped he could at least try to make her not see him as a criminal, plus, he needed closure from the last time he saw her. That disappointed look had haunted him no matter where he went.
Currently he was mining the ores, the last task for the day before they would settle him in his new cell which was newly built meaning he would be the first inmate to be assigned that specific one.
As Bell brought down the pickaxe on the Adamantium vein for the thousandth time, it finally broke off. With a blank look, he reached down and took the ore before deciding to stop for the day. It should have been three hours by now.
He walked to the guard who handled the logistics, Hayden, and dumped the ore in the adamantium bin.
"Another day of hard work, well done inmate 8518-15" The number at the end of his sentence was his inmate number.
"I have a name," Bell said with a tiny, unnoticeable glint of annoyance in his eyes. Hayden, The Guard had grown closer to Bell over the week after seeing him working so hard, smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry Bell, just old habits" He apologized "Anyway, I think it's your time to get a visitor?" he smiled as Bell's eyes gained a shine of emotion for the first time in a couple of days.
Bell nodded before taking his leave. Over the week, Bell had been given a map of the prison, only including the most necessary paths of course, and Bell had memorized it. He headed towards the room that had been labeled 'visiting room'. Once he arrived at the door, the two guards that stood there checked a list that they had before he guided Bell into the room and sat him down.
Bell waited anxiously for the door on the other side to open, thinking about what he should say, how he could convince her of his innocence, but after a while he started to worry.
10 minutes of his time had passed and the doors hadn't even as much as twitched. As seconds became minutes, his heart started to speed up, hoping for this to just mean she was late.
After 20 minutes passed, he started counting down in his head, and the closer he got to 0, the more his heart fell.
Once he hit the last minute, he gave up and rose from the chair and left the room, a dark look in his eyes.
She hadn't come… meaning she didn't want to see him. She didn't give him a chance
Bell was getting used to being able to see inside his cell. The bars were more traditional, but were clearly made out of a strong metal such as Adamantium or Orichalcum.
This time he even had a bed. It was hard without a pillow, but at least it was something. He also had a functioning toilet instead of a bucket that just sat there and stank all the time.
In general, this cell was a major improvement from his living standards before switching. The one difference Bell appreciated the most was the noise. One could always hear idle chatter between inmates or guards here, since the entire A block was full of inmates. It was a great way to stop himself from thinking about… everything, when he listened in to their conversations
Most of the time, what he overheard were rumors that were circulating in the prison. The most popular one was that there was a hidden section of the prison that held a priority prisoner.
Of course Bell just thought of it as ridiculous. Having a hidden section just for one prisoner? It was ludicrous.
Another improvement here was that there was less time for oneself since there were designated times for everyone's dinner in the cafeteria, workout and freetime.
During Freetime, one can basically do anything they want to within the area limit, as long as it doesn't involve anything violent or otherwise against prison rules.
Right now, Bell had been through all of these different things and was trying to sleep. It had been hours but his body just won't succumb to it. His thoughts drifted towards a much unwanted place as Bell flinched once again, almost as if he heard the mean words again, though the flinching has been very minimal since his body has put up natural defenses against the psychological pain.
"Hey, have you heard of the rumors the prisoners are throwing around?" He heard a person say as footsteps sounded outside the cell.
"Yeah, something about a secret area in the prison. Heh, bunch of delusional criminals" the other pair of footsteps answered
"Speaking of criminals, you see this fresh cell? Cell 250?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"The person in there is inmate number 8518-15. You know who he is?" Bell froze, knowing they were talking about him
"No, I don't know how you remember these things, but to the rest of us, we try to remember names"
"Really huh, anyway. The person in there is the infamous 'Little Rookie'" A tiny gasp could be heard from the other guard.
"The record holder? Man, the kid saved my daughter once. She visited the city during the monsterphilia and a damn silverback had her cornered in a large dead end. The kid beat the monster, allowing her to come out of hiding. Sad to see how far people can fall" Bell's heart clenched, knowing full well that it was within the realm of possibility. A lot of people had been hiding there.
"Anyway, back to that rumor. It may actually hold some merit to it. The warden had asked me to deliver coffee to his office. Once I arrived, he seemed to be on the toilet and I saw these plans spread across the table. I took a glance, and there was this section of the prison that I had never seen before on any plans"
"Really, where exactly is this?"
"Oh, It was located down the useless old south halfway from the Cafeteria"
"Shhh, not so loud. The prisoners might overhear!" The voices faded into the distance as Bell's mind thought of what they had said
That meant that there might be a way out there. But how would he get there was the bigger question.
The distraction from his usual thoughts were clearly what he needed. His thoughts became significantly quieter as he began becoming groggy. After a while, he completely succumbed to sleep
The next day went by normally for Bell. So far most other inmates didn't seem to care about the new addition as Bell was left alone with his thoughts constantly, the only semblance of him still being alive is the aching muscles as he worked or the interactions he had with some of the guards.
That was one thing Bell found was relatively positive about the quote on quote 'worst prison in gekai'. Not all the guards were bad, some of them were pretty nice as long as you did what you were supposed to do and didn't cause trouble. That had naturally got Bell on their good side simply because of him not being that kind of person.
As the day started to pass and dinner time came around, the 'normal' day for Bell took a slight turn in the form of an announcement coming from some kind of large device hanging from the wall that had a magic stone in the center.
"Inmate 8518-15, please make your way to the Warden's office. Guards will guide your way" Bell looked up from the disgusting sludge they call food before standing up. Bell had quickly memorized his inmate number and quickly responded by heading to the doors that were lit by magic lamps.
Two guards were waiting outside for him, heavily armed compared to the usual guards in the prison. As they led Bell down the hallway from the cafeteria, a Hallway that was blocked off caught his attention.
'Is that the hallway the guards were talking about last night?' Bell thought before the hallway disappeared from view faster than he would have liked.
As they continued down the hallway, they eventually stopped as one of the guards pressed a button, making the ground move as they headed further up. It was like the elevator in Babel.
Once they reached the top, Bell only saw a double door in front of him. Nothing else
The guards walked up to the double door and motioned for him to enter as they opened it.
Bell entered to be greeted by Adrian, sitting down at a table with three comfortable looking sofas surrounding.
" , please sit down" He greeted with a bright and friendly smile. Bell obliged the request as he walked over to the seat opposite of Adrian and sat down.
Bell looked around the room to see that it was quite expensively decorated. Everything a person needed to live was here. There was a lavish kitchen behind Adrian alongside a door on its right side. On the right side of the door a lavish kitchen table with expensive decorations and porcelain on top, ready for dinner at any time.
Behind Bell, there was the main part of the room that resembled an office instead of a home.
A large wooden desk with a telegraph, pens, stacks of paper and a lamp on it. The chair seemed very comfortable and the walls were decorated with paintings from all over Gekai. He recognized some places from peoples descriptions like the elven forest from Ryuu describing it to him once.
He also recognized the Far Eastern structures, looking just like how Mikoto and Haruhime described them. There were also a multitude of paintings from places he didn't recognize, but there was one that stood out from the rest.
It was a painting of a forest with monsters coming out of the ground, growling menacingly towards the viewer of the painting. It sent chills down Bell's spine as he remembered how Welf had described a place that matched what he was seeing.
'The forest of the damned' He thought with a tiny gasp before he could hear someone clearing his voice. Bell turned around towards Adrian and apologized.
"It's no worry. Tea?" Bell nodded frantically as he hadn't had anything that tasted remotely nice for quite some time.
"So, I bet you're wondering why I have called you up here today, am I right?" Adrian asked as he poured Bell a cup of tea and handed it to him. Bell took it gladly, taking a sip, humming at the taste before putting it down on the table.
"Yes" Bell simply answered as Adrian nodded. Before anything else was said, he grabbed a folder that had been next to him and put it on the table, flipping it to face Bell as he motioned him to read it.
Bell grabbed the folder and picked it up before reading the title of it.
Inmate file, Bell Cranel
Bell opened the folder to see what was inside as soon as he saw the front cover name.
Name: Bell Cranel
Age: 14
Height: 165 cm/5'5
Weight: 56 kg
Occupation: Adventurer, Level 3, employed for 5 months (It took Bell 5 months and 12 days to reach level 4)
Crime: Endangering of Civilians and murdering 17 adventurers
Sentence: Undefined
Bell frowned. Wasn't this just too short? Usually from what he hears, files on people are always longer than this, aren't they?
He looked up towards Adrian, intending to ask a question before Adrian brought his hand into the air and signaling for Bell to be quiet.
"Today, the reason for you to be here is because a certain friend of ours wanted to meet you" Bell tilted his head before he realised who. Before he could ask if his suspicion was correct. The door next to the kitchen opened, a figure wearing a large black robe entered the room.
"Greetings, Bell Cranel" Bell's eyes had widened as he looked into the eyes of the skeleton that had given him advice.
"Fels... " Bell whispered as Fels sat down on the third sofa.
"We have something to discuss Bell Cranel. It is about your goddess" Bell flinched
"Yeah, if you wanted to inform me she's dead. Then I already know… I watched it happen" Bell said with his head hung low.
"I don't know if this is a good thing to tell you, but Ouranos said it was for the better that you knew" Bell peeked up, waiting for the information
"Before I tell you of our suspicion, I would like to ask a quick question. Was there anything odd happening as she returned to heaven?" Bell started to shake his head before he stopped and a certain part of the event popped into his head
"Actually, yes. The pillar of light started to… fade, if that is the right word. It twitched before it just disappeared" Fels leaned back as he looked up, making his hood fall off his head.
"Ouranous, our worst fears have come true…" Bell looked at Fels with a worried face now
"Fels… what has come true?" At first, Fels didn't answer. He just sat there, looking up as if he was contemplating his very existence, before he leaned forward and intertwined his fingers.
"Bell Cranel… Ouranos never felt Goddess Hestia return to the Tenkai…" Bell's eyes widened as he threw himself off the sofa.
"SHE'S ALIVE!?" he screamed. Fels looked down before shaking his head, causing Bell to falter and lose the faint hope he had ignited.
"No… it seems as if she isn't in either Gekai or Tenkai at the moment" Bell was confused now. Those are the two worlds, right? The world of the mortals and gods, right?
"You're correct" Bell blinked as he realised he asked that out loud
"Which means that Hestia no longer exists. If she didn't return, but isn't here as well, then that means that she has died her final death" Bell froze. He had taken some security in the fact that a god never truly dies and returns to heaven if they are mortally wounded here on Gekai but…
His hands started to shake… his heart no longer functioned. The world lost all of it's color as the last thing holding him together was lost to him.
Bell leaned forward as sweat started to form on his forehead.
'I have no one… My remaining familia? They haven't even asked for me. Neither has anyone else of my friends. Syr? No. Ryuu? No. Ais? She didn't even want to see me after I requested it. I truly have no one, nothing!' Bell's mind was going on overload as he started hyperventilating as the world started to spin.
He stood up and tried to leave, but lost his balance and fell to the floor. He didn't try to get back up as he just gave up. There was no point. After all, he had no one left, nothing to keep him going. He saw fels and Adrian run up to him and shake him, but to no avail as the world started to sink into darkness.
'I just want to disappear' Was the last thought Bell had before he lost consciousness
=Infirmary, Kauhea Forbande=
Bell woke up without a sound, still wearing his prisoner clothes. He opened his eyes and stopped with them half closed. He didn't know the reason he was still here. He should just disappear, the information from Fels fresh in his mind.
As of this moment, Bell could only think of two options for him moving forwards.
Option one being him just… disappearing… from this world and the other option being escaping from this prison.
Bell chose the latter option without even thinking about it a second time. Sure, he wanted to disappear, but this place is not where he wants it to happen. If at all possible, he would want it to be in his home village, or by his goddesses grave if she had one.
Bell sat up on the bed, before looking up towards the door to the infirmary. His eyes were devoid of emotion, with only a single goal in mind. Return home
He rose up and walked to the door before opening it.
"EEEEKKKK" A feminine voice shrieked as Bell looked down on the ground, a Chienthrope girl, dressed in a nurse outfit, sprawled on the floor with tiny tears in her eyes as the blue orbs shook.
"Please… don't hurt me…" She pleaded, extremely scared. Bell nodded before giving her his hand. She flinched at the movement before looking at his hand questionably.
"I won't hurt you, but tell me… Where is the A-block from here?" She hesitantly took his hand as Bell used the muscles he had gained since being an adventurer and mining the last week to basically throw her up from the ground.
She gave a small yelp before dusting herself off. She quickly gave him direction before scurrying inside the infirmary looking like she was trying to get as far away from him as possible.
'If she is so scared of inmates, why does she work in the infirmary of the worst prison in Gekai?' Bell mentally asked as he followed the directions he was provided.
Once he reached the entrance to the A-Block, he was greeted by two guards, who Immediately raised their swords and pointed them at Bell.
"Inmate 8518-15, get back to your cell!" one of them screamed as Bell sighed with no emotion on his face.
He walked forward until the tip was a millimeter from piercing his skin making the guard look surprised before he looked kind of scared
"Where do you think I was going? I wasn't just leisurely walking back here for the fun of it" Bell asked as the guard pulled back his sword and lowered it, looking a little sheepish at not seeing that.
Bell walked past them, towards his prison cell at the end of the block. Once he arrived he walked inside and laid down on the bed, contemplating on what to do. After some thought, he came up empty and decided to get some sleep to freshen his mind.
The next morning, he woke up with a guard, banging on the bars. Bell shook his head and rose up. He got out of the cell and headed to the showers and took one as fast as possible, changing clothes before heading to the cafeteria.
Once he arrived, he followed his usual schedule in a monotone manner, not caring what was happening around him. He took his food, or what is supposed to be food, and sat down at a lonely 2 person table in the corner. As he ate, he let the pain of the memories keep flooding.
He didn't care anymore.
As he kept eating, in the corner of his ears he picked up on a conversation close by between inmates.
"So are we seriously going to do this?" A light and quiet voice whispered
"Yeah, Poh, I can't stand being in this place for another month, let alone the rest of my life" A gruff voice responded in a whisper.
Bell, being distracted peeked over his shoulder with a blank look, seeing the two men, one large and another small. The large man had wild, uncontrolled auburn hair that somehow fit him. His eyes were a brilliant shade of green that matched the freckles over his face. His jawline was sharp and gave an edge of intimidation to it. The man was like a walking tank, contrary to the other, smaller man who seemed to be named Poh.
Poh was shorter standing at about Bell's height. He had well maintained blonde hair with a slightly darker shade of green eyes than his friend. His stature was small and skinny, yet with wiry muscles outlining his clothing.
The two men seemed to be discussing something about not wanting to be here, which had caught the interest of Bell who continued to listen to their words.
"I get you. I have been in here for 5 years now, and I was framed I tell you!" Poh raised his voice slightly at the end, earning him a swift hit on the head from his partner.
"Be quiet! We can't attract unwanted attention" Bell decided that he wanted to just get it out of them so he stood up with his food and walked over to their table.
Once they noticed his approach, they quickly sat straighter and cleared their throats, making it painfully obvious they were trying to hide something.
Once Bell reached the table, he sat down and stared into their eyes, before spotting the sweat starting to form on Poh's face.
"Alright" Bell started, whispering without a single trace of emotion "What are you two planning? If it involves anything about getting out of this place, then I want to help" Bell whispered just loud enough to make them hear it, and oh from the looks of their faces did they hear it.
They looked flabbergasted at his words, before shifting to sheepishness for not being able to keep it a secret.
"I-I don-n't know what you're talk-king about" Poh stuttered
"I sat on the table over there, and I heard every word" Bell said, waiting for an answer. When he didn't get one, he sighed
"Alright, if you don't share, I'm gonna walk to that guard and give them the gist of it" The two men seemed to do a 180 and started blabbering in a hushed tone.
"Okay, okay! We will talk, just don't snitch on us" Bell nodded and waited.
"So… you heard the rumor about the hidden section of the prison?" Bell nodded
"Well… we planned to get out of here, and that is our best bet. After all, it was Poh here that found it" Bell was surprised at that, but kept a stoic face, not that he could do anything about it.
"Alright, from what I have seen, it's down that hallway that goes to the elevator until you reach a hallway that's blocked off" Poh nodded
"Yeah, down that hallway there is a lever that's disguised as a torch that opens a door to an elevator. I haven't entered it so I don't know where it goes but it's our best shot" Bell nodded before something hit him
"Why go for that instead of continuing down the previous hallway to the elevator?" The larger man guffawed.
"You serious? That elevator goes up to one of two places. The one that's the highest up is the Warden's office. The second is the guards barracks which is nearly always filled to the brim with them. If you go there, you're not walking out alive" Bell nodded, understanding the predicament.
"Alright, I'm in. So what's the plan" The two men leaned over to Bell who did the same to listen
"Alright, a group of guys has a grudge against a guard. We made a deal with them that next week, they will cause a riot in the morning. We get an opening and they get to kill the guard they have a grudge against. That means 6 days from now, we are moving. Got it"
"Yeah, but what guard is it" The two smiled
"The asshole's name is Daxter. Pretty much everyone in here wants him dead" Bell chuckled at that, the man had been getting on his nerves. Whenever he watched over Bell, he made sure to take every chance to hit him, scream at him or just be a dick in general.
"Alright, that's fine with me" The two smirked at Bell before extending their hands.
"We haven't introduced ourselves yet. Hayden, Hayden Mishivona, and this is Poh Anphion" Bell shook his hand and nodded
"Bell, Bell Cranel" The big man's eyes bulged for a second.
"Hold up, you're the Little Rookie?" Hayden asked surprised while Poh snorted
"Dude, you just realised? The guy looks like a rabbit. There is only one person I have heard of that looks like a rabbit as well" The two started to bicker before Bell broke it up by taping their shoulders.
"So… I was wondering what you guys were in for?"
The three people continued to get to know each other as breakfast quickly ended and the day continued.
The days went by one after another, as Bell started to prepare more and more. Within the 6 days, Bell had managed to gain the one thing he desperately needed for the day. A weapon, at least the best he could have while being inconspicuous. A shiv.
Eventually, the day finally arrived as Bell woke up in his bead with a determined look in his eyes.
"Show-time"
