16: Settling in
Normal POV
=Babel Tower, Infirmary=
The world was completely black for the four adventurers that had been in the infirmary within Babel. For how long? They didn't know, but the first to move was Welf. He groaned out as his muscles felt sore all over, even in places he didn't know existed.
He opened his eyes to see an unfamiliar roof. Guessing he was moved after the battle, most likely by Kenki, he got up on his shoulders and looked around.
"Ah, you're awake. Don't move too much, otherwise my help will have been for nothing" Welf heard a smooth, beautiful voice. He turned to his right, spotting a woman with long silver hair and purple eyes. Her expression morphed into what he could only describe as pure focus or boredom.
"Dea Saint?" He asked, quite unsure why someone of her calibre would be helping him.
"Yes, asked me to take care of you. She paid for the costs so you don't have to worry about that" Welf blinked at her words before looking down at the patient that she was working on.
'Mikoto…!' He thought as he noticed that she had mostly been healed, but she looked pale. Blood loss maybe, but she definitely looked better than she did down on the 17th.
He took another look around the room before spotting the two supporters that seemed in much better shape. They honestly just looked like they were sleeping away from exhaustion. The Dea Saint really does work magic.
"Thanks… Dea Saint" The woman looked up again from the shoulder of Mikoto and nodded.
"No need, I am merely doing my duty as a sworn doctor" She said calmly as Welf chuckled.
'She's like Kenki's doll sister' He thought with amusement before pushing himself back towards the wall, leaning on it so that he could keep looking around.
In all honesty, he looked fine. There was maybe a scar on his shoulder from the minotaur, but every other wound had healed perfectly. The Falna tended to get rid of scars with time, but it could take over a year for it to do so.
"Where is Lili?" He heard a groan to his left. His eyes darted in the direction as he spotted Lili looking around with her arm on her forehead.
"In the infirmary Lil' lili" He said as she groaned out loud at the nickname
"Why is Anvil Head here?" Welf smiled at her as she smiled back at him. This banter was their way of showing affection, as well as telling the other they're fine.
"So… we did it" Welf muttered as he looked at Lili who nodded
"Lili thinks so. Either that, or Lili thinks Tenkai is a lot like Gekai" Welf chuckled at the words. Before the door opened up into the infirmary.
"Hephaestus? Takemikazuchi? Soma?" Welf asked as the three gods looked up and smiled at Welf and Lili.
"Welf, It's good to see you up" Hephaestus said as she walked up to him and ruffled his hair.
"I share the sentiment, but my poor Mikoto is still unconscious…" Takemikazuchi said with saddened eyes.
"She's strong, Take. She'll pull through" Welf responded with a grin as Take smiled back at his reassurance.
"She is, isn't she…" He muttered as he took a stool and sat on the opposite side of the bed from Amid.
"Why did you visit Lili, Soma?" Lili asked as Soma walked up to her.
"I was worried" He said in his usual tone. Despite his seeming lack of empathy, he does care for his children.
"What were you thinking Welf, taking on the Goliath just the 4 of you!" Hephaestus asked, slightly mad at it as Welf smirked.
"We were trying to level up. Let's see if it bore fruit" Welf said as he leaned forwards once again as the goddess got the gist of his question.
"Really, you brat…" She muttered as she gave Amid a look, seeking permission. The doctor nodded as Hephaestus found something sharp, pricking her finger before updating the status.
The moment was tense for both Lili and Welf. They hoped that it worked as they waited for Hephaestus.
A smile grew over the vermillion haired goddess. A sigh of relief spread across Lili's face at the smile that confirmed what had happened.
"Congratulations Welf, you can level up" A wide smile spread across Welf's face at the news. The troubles paid off.
"Well, let's see here. The development abilities you can choose from are…" She leaned in so no one else heard. Other familias and such "Metalworking and Abnormal resistance" She whispered as Welf understood why she whispered it.
"Pick the second one" He said. As tempting as Metalworking was, he knew where they were going next and needed the Abnormal Resistance development ability. The Large Tree labyrinth. Floors 19-24 were infamous for its abundance of poison class insect monsters. If one didn't have the Abnormal Resistance, it would make it next to impossible to survive down there when exploring.
"Alright, before I finalize the update, I want you to take a look at your status and make sure you're alright with how far it's gotten. There is also a little surprise in there" She said as Welf nodded with a confused look. She handed him his status sheet before he looked at it.
Welf nodded at his status. He had gone up quite a bit and even gained a skill that sounded really good. His basic abilities were well rounded as well and his status was in the sweet spot where adventurers leveled up.
"I'd like to level up, Hephaestus" He said as the goddess nodded and finalized the level up, taking back the paper and updating the status on it. Welf took another look at the paper and smiled.

The status was finalized, and Lili had decided to update her status when she felt better. Welf smiled up at the sky, praising himself for leveling up in a little over a year through hard work. Things were looking up, now only if Bell was here as well...
=Anfesera, 4 days later=
"Could you put that next to me?" Vance, the lumberjack said as he was hammering at the renovated roof.
Bell jumped up to the roof with a plank as he put it to Vance's right, before the man took it and put it into place, before hammering again.
The last renovations were being finished right now as everyone had to sleep within the wagons that hadn't left yet. Thankfully, new furniture alongside fresh food and better storage had been fixed. The house was nearly complete, the only thing left to do after this was build the extension to the left of the house, where a hallway leading towards a glass door that went to a balcony alongside a room in front of that door was located on the upper level. Below, a bath would be built.
Once that was done, the house would be complete.
Bell jumped down, grabbed another plank and jumped back up with a handful of spikes. He positioned the plank and used his thumb to push the spikes inside. He got a stare from the lumberjack before he shook his head, muttering about blessed people being unfair.
While Bell was doing this, Bache and Elora were out in the village as Bache had helped her out with patrol. Having a level 6 on patrol helped Elora feel more safe. Bell had asked her if she wanted her status back, but she had only said that she'd think about it.
"Bache, what do you think of the village?" Elora asked, Bache smiling at the question.
"It's cozy. I think it's definitely a good place to live. The people are nice too" She answered genuinely as she looked around at villagers of various species working together, and smiling. It was like the stories of Orario, but in a much more tightly packed situation.
"Right, though they can be a little invasive in my private life. Have I told you about my nickname?" She asked as Bache nodded with a smile.
"The Neverending Bachelorette" Bache said as her smile extended to a smirk. Elora went red in a mixture of embarrassment and frustration. She hadn't lived here for more than 3 years and they called her something like that. It started after she had rejected around ten men in the village. She's only 27 years old, for crying out loud! That's practically a child in elven terms!
"It's so annoying! Though it mostly stopped 2 days ago. I don't know why…" Elora muttered as Bache rolled her eyes. She really was just as dense as Bell when it came to romantic feelings.
They walked around the village, helping some people here and there before they walked alongside the forestline. After a moment of silence, Bache stopped causing Elora to do the same, looking at her in confusion.
"Elora… is it alright if I head inside for a minute?" Bache asked as she stared into the forest. Elora wanted to object, but knew that there honestly wasn't a reason to.
"Alright, I would say be careful, but you're level 6…" Bache smiled at Elora and nodded
"I will be careful, even if you're a high level, high numbers can overwhelm you if you're not ready" Both nodded before Bache completely disappeared out of Elora's sight.
The elf sighed before heading back towards the village, thinking upon Bell's question if she wanted her Falna back.
It wasn't a bad offer and would help her protect the village. The only issue was that she would feel like she was betraying her old goddess that isn't here anymore. After all, when they were banished after the wargame, one of the conditions was that Hecate was sent back to heaven.
She accepted, not wanting a worse fate for her children.
"Would feel like I'm being unfaithful…" she muttered as it was the truth. Changing patron gods isn't an easy thing to do for a person. Bell most likely did it because it was necessary in his situation, but he probably struggles with not being part of his old gods familia.
She was just so unsure of the decision which was the reason that she had told him she'd think about it.
As she neared the Village, she spotted Bell on the roof, his armor on without his mask. The chief had told everyone of his… unique circumstance and to warn either the chief, Elora or Bell if anyone from outside the village approaches.
They were helping him a lot, but Elora knew exactly why the chief seemed to have a sweet spot for Bell. It was because she used to have a daughter, but was separated from her at a very young age. She had been distraught about it but had found out from Bell talking a little about his time in Orario that her daughter had ended up in an orphanage in Daedalus street.
Her daughter's name was Fina Cremond, and when Bell had described the children at the orphanage with names, Saena had figured it out pretty fast.
She had even been talking about going to Orario and meeting the girl that she had become. She would be 11 years old by now.
"Elora, why are you spacing out?" Elora heard Bell's voice as she focused her attention to what she was seeing and jumped and yelped in shock as Bell was right in front of her.
"Eh… did you just… yelp?" Bell said with a small smile, suppressing a snicker as she went red in the face.
"Y-you surprised me is all! Don't do that!" She said, hitting him hard on the shoulder, knowing it hurt her more than him. He at least had the decency to flinch back his shoulder to give her a sense of satisfaction from the punch.
"I'll try not to walk up to you anymore. I was walking normally, in your terms that is" He said as he scratched the back of his neck with an awkward chuckle.
Elora knew that it wasn't really his fault. She had stopped walking and he had most likely spotted her and wondered what she was doing.
Her eyes drifted to the sides, noticing some villagers giving her a knowing smile that she hated with a passion. It was the same one they give every time someone asks her out.
She gave them a small glare as they turned away, shaking their heads before leaving. Somehow, that smile they gave was different this time, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Anyway, what were you doing?" Bell asked again as Elora recomposed herself.
"Oh, I was just going back to the village after finishing my patrol but got lost in my thoughts" She explained as Bell nodded.
"If you've got nothing else to do, how about helping me finally move everything inside? We just finished the renovations, apart from my planned expansion" He asked as she couldn't help the smile that spread across her face.
"Sure, lead the way" Bell nodded before heading towards the carpenter who had made a bunch of furniture. Once they arrived at the building and headed inside. Bell sweatdropped at the furniture.
"Eh… isn't this… a little luxurious…?" Bell asked as he stared at the intricate designs that looked like it was fit for royalty.
"Ah, Cranel-san! Nice of you to come by before I moved the items. I have transport type wagons behind that are to be filled with the furniture. Also, with the amount you paid, this was honestly what the valis was worth" the man said as Elora's expression became curious as she looked at Bell.
"How much did you spend?" she asked as Bell thought about it as she was shocked he actually had to think about it.
"I think… 250 000 valis" Elora wobbled at his absolutely horrible sense of finances.
"Bell, that's enough to fill a mansion with luxury furniture! No wonder you got royalty class furnishings!" She exploded as he chuckled awkwardly at the information.
"Perhaps I went overboard…" He said as he thought about how much he had left.
He had not even spent a million valis yet. His total expenditure so far was sitting at 632 000 valis. That meant he still had around 149 368 000 valis remaining. The fact that he hadn't spent even a fraction of his valis in almost 5 months truly spoke volumes of how expensive high class weapons were.
Now that he thought about it, later when he was going to need weaponry upgrade, he was going to need more valis than he had now. His Hestia knife cost 200 million and it was considered first class. Too bad he lost it. Perhaps mercenary work didn't sound too bad since he could set his own limitations upon what he would do.
"You think!?" Elora answered his previous statement as Bell took a step back.
"I get it, I'll be more careful with how much I pay. Can we get to work?" Bell asked as Elora took a deep breath before nodding.
Bell started with carrying a double bed outside, before taking another… then another before starting on the sofas.
Elora and the carpenter took the smaller furniture such as nightstands out while Bell handled the larger ones. Thankfully they didn't need a wardrobe. The rooms had a built-in one within the wall that you could slide open. It was very convenient and it was actually quite large.
After about half an hour, they had everything within the wagons which started driving towards the house.
"That's half the work done. That wasn't that hard" Bell said as Elora was leaning on her kneecaps, hunched over as she panted heavily.
"You have… A … Falna" She said in between pants. The furniture wasn't all that heavy, but once they had gotten to the tables, it had quickly gotten harder for Elora as she had to not only carry them out, but also lift them into the wagon. She had done that a lot of times the last 30 minutes and it had left her spent.
"Right… you know the offer still stands, right?" He said as she nodded.
"I know… I just… haven't… decided" She gave him as Bell nodded.
"Alright, let's get going. They are about to arrive at the house. If you want, you could rest while I take care of things" Bell said as she nodded
"Thanks… I think I'll take you up on that" In all honesty, she was spent and could admit when she needed a break. How some people did this for a living was beyond her.
She leaned next to the entrance to the house as Bell had gotten back to work. It was actually quite relaxing as she stood there, feeling the breeze of the wind as Bell worked.
The only thing was that she could smell the sweat from Bell as he passed her, which for some reason didn't smell that bad for her.
She started to contemplate the reasonings behind that as she happily took the distraction.
'Normally, the sweat of someone else is something… almost repulsive, so why isn't it the same now…' She thought as she continued her thought process. As her thoughts became more and more complex and approached a solution, her face instantly heated up.
If one would have seen her, they would have thought she had just completely humiliated herself in front of the entire world.
'I-I Can-n't! How-w c-can I li-ke h-h-h-him!?' She thought as she came to a realization. Usually, if one is attracted to another, things that would normally seem repulsive aren't anymore. Sweat is a perfect example of this, and when Elora realized this fact… she was in disbelief to say the least.
'He has a daughter. He has a daughter. He has a daughter' She chanted like a sacred magic in her head. Desperately trying to stop her heart from exploding.
"Are you alright Elora?" His voice sent a shiver down her spine- How hadn't she noticed that?
"B-bell! Yeah, I'm fi-ine" She said as a voice in her head screamed 'liar' at her.
"Oh… you just seemed… troubled" The concern in his voice melted her heart as she tried to not become complete mush all of a sudden.
'Seriously, How didn't I realize this!?' She questioned herself again as Bell leaned in a little, looking at her face thoroughly as she became beet red.
"Are you sure you're alright?" He asked once again as all she could do was weakly nod. He relented and nodded at her before leaving to grab another piece of furniture.
'I need to get out of here' She thought as she made a move to leave. What began as a walk turned into a full blown sprint
Bell just stared at her weirdly when he came back out, wondering what had happened before he got back to work.
=3 hours later=
"So, what do you think?" Bell asked as Bache and Erebus stared at the house, the latter holding Adrienne in her arms.
"It looks acceptable. What I want to see is the inside" Erebus said as Bell swore it was impossible to actually completely please him sometimes.
"As you wish" Bell said as he led the group inside, showcasing the renovated place. It was basically the same as before, but it looked much cleaner, homey and all around more like home.
Bell explained his plan to incorporate another room, a balcony as well as a bathhouse which Bache seemed excited for.
After the tour… well second in a way since they had already seen the house before the renovations, did they finally settle in for real.
Bache and Erebus moved in their personal items, the latter having very few in that regard. Bell, already having done just that, had done the first thing he had wanted to do after all the work had been done.
He headed towards the public showers, obviously split between men and women. Bell headed inside the mens shower, and carefully pulled off his armor, and clothing underneath. And locked it inside one of the temporary storage units that were actually larger than one would expect.
The shower felt fantastic to say the least. He had quite frankly not showered since Telskyura, as there weren't really many options on the way towards Anfesera, and he had been very busy with the renovations with him taking up the majority of the workload.
Normally, renovations as extensive as this would take at least a week and a half, but because of Bell's status, they were able to get it done in 4 days. As the water flowed down, dragging along the dirt infused soap with it fell down his body, Bell sighed as he thought about the work left to do. That would probably take another week to complete. After all, a bathhouse isn't simple to build. You not only have to worry about the irrigation system, but also filtration so that dirty water doesn't get mixed into the clean water.
Then there was the heating, which they would need specialized magic stone heaters that are easily swapped if ever needed. All of that combined with more furniture, wood, glass among other things would take time.
This time, Bell only had to worry about cleaning, furniture and wood for the renovations. The toilet was run by a latrine pit that wasn't that hard to clean. Thankfully, the village had supplied them with smell numbing cloths to cover their faces with when cleaning it.
Well, it was actually supposed to completely eliminate the smell, but with Bell and Bache being level 5 and 6, makes the sense of smell a lot smaller. Most of it is still canceled out, but they could still tell something disgusting was nearby.
'Perhaps we should connect it to an irrigation system. After all, a pump would work quite nicely with a toilet' Bell thought absentmindedly.
He froze for a second in the shower before his eyes widened. A pump connected to irrigation that led waste towards a desired location…
'Maybe… might have to ask the chief about that idea' Bell concluded as he settled with that. Sometimes, the best ideas come out of nowhere.
As he finished up, he dried himself off before getting his clothes on, before he whiffed a strand of hair out of his eyes, only for another group of them to fall back down.
Maybe he should get a haircut. His hair is getting alarmingly long. At least his jaw had become more like a mans. He had noticed that in the mirror. It was a slight difference but his appearance was definitely changing.
After Bell put up his hair in the ponytail he had, he put on the armor and walked out and headed towards home. He would enjoy the rest of the day by relaxing as a way of celebrating a job well done.
As he arrived home, he noticed Bache by the left side of the house practicing some punches and kicks. Bell walked over towards the amazon, before leaning against the wall, watching.
She looked like she was in a world of her own, punching, and spinning around, sending kicks left and right.
It was very fluent, a motion she had trained years to master, evidenced by the flow of her movements.
After a while, he noticed a small flaw in her moves. Whenever she kicked, her feet that landed, or stayed on the ground was slightly off balance, meaning that a well placed dodge, and counter blow, even if weak would send her to the ground.
"Try to balance yourself better. You're slightly off balance for a second after you kick" He called out. Bache stopped mid kick, before standing up straight and looking at Bell.
"What do you mean?" She asked as Bell walked forward and got into a fighting stance.
"Try to kick me and I will show you" He told her as she obliged, she made sure the kick was obvious so that Bell could easily evade it, which he did, before sending a weak hit to her shoulder.
At that moment, her eyes widened at realizing that such a weak punch sent her off balance and she fell backwards onto her back.
"Wow, I didn't realize such a flaw was there" She muttered as Bell smiled.
"There is a limit to how far you can get on your own without an outside eye" Bell said, a lesson he had learnt with the spear. He hadn't improved at all during the first month or so after the Far East. No matter how much he trained with it, his movements were already fluid and seemed perfect. When Bache inspected how he moved, she had almost noticed a couple of flaws within minutes.
"That is true. You have improved a lot after I advised you with the spear" She said as Bell nodded
"How about a no weapon sparring session? I never know when it might be useful" He suggested as Bache nodded.
'So much for relaxing' Bell thought with a tiny chuckle before they got ready. As usual, during spars, Bell didn't use any skills. Magic was acceptable because the stat was improved by using mind power.
The first to move was Bache, who seemed to be a little more weary with how she landed and stood before and after a kick.
A fist was sent flying towards Bell's right eye as he twisted his head to the side, grabbing the arm before pushing it over his shoulder, sending her over him. A move that Bache had taught him which was actually pretty useful, even if they balanced themselves out from the move like Bache did.
Her back was straight at him. He swiped her feet, sending her spiraling towards the ground. He moved his foot back, before flipping, and making a stomping action towards Bache's falling form.
What he didn't expect was that she latched onto the ground with one arm, twisting her body away from his foot, and swiped his feet after it cracked the ground.
He fell backwards, and caught himself with his hands, and flipped backwards, before gliding on the ground , putting the duo in a standstill, walking in circles, waiting for the other to make a move.
He peeked at the crack in the ground, putting it in the back of his head to add a sparring ground on one of the sides of the house with adamantite floor.
It's gonna be expensive, but worth it.
Bell made the next move, fainting a hit towards her face, making her block, but sending his left fist into her stomach before smirking
"Firebolt!" He called out as the magic was sent into her, sending her back before rolling across the ground.
He rushed forward, planning on not giving her any room to work with, but the second he arrived, he noticed her mouth moving too late.
"Velgus!" She had chanted while rolling on the ground. Poison enveloped her fist as she sent it towards Bell's face. He dodged but the poison latched onto him and… it burned? His abnormal resistance was supposed to be strong enough.
He jumped back before quickly getting rid of the poison that was melting his skin.
"Your magic's gotten stronger…" He muttered as Bache smirked.
"That's what happens when you help me train it" She responded as Bell chuckled in response. Good, maybe his Abnormal resistance can reach D rank now with enough time.
Bell was about to attack again before noticing the small crowd that had started to surround his house.
The chief was smiling at the two, before noticing Bell's surprised look.
"Don't mind us, we're just enjoying the show" She called out as Bell couldn't help but smile.
"How about we indulge them?" Bell asked as Bache nodded, both rushing forward, ready to strike.
Their fists collided as a miniature shockwave was sounded with a sligh boom. The two combatants, whirled around each other at extreme speeds, throwing hits and dodgine, getting cuts on their cheeks. Bache is getting more all around her body because of her lack of armor.
'We're strong enough to cut each other with only the wind from our blows…' Bell thought as he dodged another blow, which caused another small cut that spilled blood.
The next blow from Bache, came in the form of a kick as Bell tried to dodge it but it impacted him right on his nose, sending him flying back, nearly hitting the house.
He bounced off a rock that cracked into pieces from the impact. The armor took most of the blowback as Bell landed a little farther away.
Maybe he shouldn't have it on. His endurance will thank him very much. He contemplated it for a minute before saying 'why not'.
Bell unclasped the armor, before carefully laying it to the side, he then reached for his nose and snapped it back into position.
"Nice kick. Let's get this going again." Bell said as he was now slightly more confident. He didn't have the armor to weigh him down.
Don't get him wrong, he's still plenty fast with the armor with his superior strength, but it still slowed him down.
Without it, the moment Bell sprung forward, Bache had to instantly adjust her sense towards his attack. It was much faster than before. For a split moment, Bache thought that he had used his skill, but the lack of aura showed that he didn't.
As Bache had sped up, it became harder for Bell to dodge and always graced past her attacks with a slight pain inching across the skin it dragged along.
As the fight went on, both got more and more tired and more blows started to connect. Their moves were becoming sloppier and both were panting.
Bache sent a sloppy heavy punch that Bell ducked under before hitting her down on her cheek. She winced back as the two struggled to hold on.
"Hey… how… about we stop… here" Bell struggled to breathe as Bache contemplated it before nodding. Bell smiled before Bell reached out a hand that Bache took, before pulling him towards her, and punching his gut hard, sending him to the ground, gaging out saliva.
"That… was… foul…" He got out in between gags. Bache chuckled before sitting down, getting her bearings as her body rested.
Claps sounded around them as Bell smiled at the small crowd. They didn't have a Falna so this must have looked otherworldly to them. Maybe not to Elora since she had been a level 4… wait… was she mad?
The moment that Bell and the elfs eyes had met, she had looked away as her cheeks had heated. Bell narrowed his eyes before shrugging. Maybe he did something wrong and she was mad. Bell reprimanded himself for whatever he did wrong, determined to apologize later.
He stood up and ignored the pain in his gut.
"We should probably rest. I still have to work...guh" Bell said, flinching as he took a step, the pain surging up his body.
"You alright?" Bache asked as Bell nodded
"Yeah, just wasn't ready for the pain spike" He replied before shaking his head, before continuing his words "I still have to work tomorrow on the expansion. I'm also going to have to travel around and earn more valis. I want to build a training area on the right of the house and the other additions on the left" Bell explained as she nodded.
"We can still live in the house right?" Bache asked, her smile becoming wary, clearly worried she would have to sleep more nights in the wagon.
"Yeah, it's only on the left side of the house and doesn't affect the rest of it. Anyway, I'm going to go and get my status updated. I haven't done that since 2 days before we arrived" Bache nodded and Bell smiled back.
He gave a quick wave towards the chief and Elora before heading inside. Elora's face burned hotter as she quickly left as the chief nearly giggled at the sight.
As Bell entered the house, he found Erebus by the kitchen, cutting some vegetables with some uncut meat to the side.
"Oh, Bell. I was about to pause what I was doing and see why there were miniature earthquakes outside" Bell sweat dropped at the mentioned before frowning at the gods grin.
"You know exactly why…" Bell said, before sighing. It was useless, he had a retort for anything.
"Perhaps, but someone has to make sure you don't destroy the house" Erebus said chuckling before turning to Bell, who pointed at his back. Erebus nodded and put down what he was doing.
"It's been a couple of days now, hasn't it… no, almost a week. We've been slacking" Bell chuckled at his words before lifting his shirt.
Erebus quickly got to work after he bit his finger. The ichor being written and molded into Bell's back.
"You're taking over the cooking after this. I can't cook with a bleeding finger. You don't want to eat ichor, do you?" Erebus asked as Bell groaned. He had been cooking the last 2 times.
"Fine…" Bell said as he waited for Erebus to finish.
"This is a good update… nothing special but it's progress" Erebus said as he looked around for a piece of paper.
Bell leaned over and grabbed a piece from the table nearby and handed it to Erebus who copied his status onto it before Bell looked it over.

It wasn't a bad status update. The only issue is that with the rate Bell was growing, he would hit the max value of 1399 within half a year or so. At least at this rate. That would mean he would once again hit a wall where he didn't get any stronger and as much as Bell would like to not admit it, it did bother him.
He had gotten so used to continuously getting stronger that when he wasn't doing just that, it felt weird.
Bell shook himself out of his thoughts, deciding to cross that bridge when he got to it.
"Thanks Erebus" Bell said. Erebus smiled and nodded in return before giving Bell a questioning look.
"What are you going to do now?" He asked as Bell thought about it for a second before shaking his shoulders.
"Don't know, it's a little late to inform Vance about the renovations yet" Bell said. Erebus thought about it for a second before shrugging.
"Beats me. What did Elora say about the offer?" Erebus asked as Bell sheepishly smiled.
"Well… she said that she would think about it. I'm guessing that she feels like she's betraying her deity if she transfers. I can understand that feeling as I for a second had the same one before offering you back in Kauhea Forbande. My goddess would have wanted me to live happily, and I wouldn't be able to do that in that prison" Bell said as Erebus nodded
"I figured that as well with you. It makes me curious, why didn't you split off from me later on? We have been traveling together for almost a year now" He said as Bell nodded
"Well… in a way, you became my deity. Don't get me wrong, you didn't replace Hestia, but you still became important to me, even if you're a pain sometimes" Bell said cheekily as Erebus snorted.
"Right back at you" Erebus said with the hint of a smile. They were quiet for a moment before the door opened. Bache walked inside, seemingly heading straight upstairs, before she stopped mid step.
"Did I interrupt something?" Bache asked curiously as Bell shook his head.
"No… are you heading up to Adrienne?" He asked as she nodded. He quickly walked up to her and motioned her towards the stairs.
"I'll join you then. Me and Erebus talked about what I would be doing now and why I stayed traveling with him. Thinking about it, I'll live a peaceful life for a little while before I start mercenary work. Give me time to raise our daughter" Bell said with a smile as Bache returned it.
Bell then looked at Erebus and smiled back at him, nodding before turning around and walking up the stairs with Bache. The last thoughts on his mind after he got to his daughter and pulled her into his arms was that this life may not be so bad at all.
That's chapter 16. Big timeskip incoming! Anyway, sorry it took so long. I didn't have access to my PC for a week so progress basically halted to a standstill. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and to see you all next time.
