What caused second impact and what was the impact to humanity? Who was to blame?

After losing to the Twelfth Angel, an unexpected event leaves Shinji and the members of NERV stranded in Skyrim. A tale of the unlikeliest hero, and their companions. Originally posted as a quest on Sufficient Velocity, and cross-posted on Ao3.

After a decade of silence Shinji Ikari is invited to the fortress city of Tokyo-3 to meet with his father. Hoping to put his past behind him, Shinji accepts only for the city to be attacked by a monster. Now he must defend humanity with the help of the military organization called NERV. He only hopes that his training under Tojo Clan Chairman Kazuma Kiryu will be enough to survive.

From the mind that brought you Different from You, etc., comes another tale of what different repercussions can do for someone with nobody to matter to them until life intervenes. Enter Shinji and Shado Ikari, a father and daughter pair that, by chance or by accident, stumble into a world where the people could control the elements, changing everything. How will they survive?

In the year 1999, a drunken Gendo didn't get into a barfight. Instead, being spirited away into a land he never should have been to, a chance meeting with a Sagacious Spirit would inevitably intertwine Gensokyo with the outside world just as both were confronted with their greatest shifts yet. Now in 2015, Shinji is summoned to meet his father, just as the world begins to unravel.

What if Shinji…became a Blade Runner?

Of ages long ago on the Planet Altea Comes a tale. The tale of Legendary Defender Voltron. A warrior loved by good feared by evil. As Voltrons legend grew peace settle across the galaxy. When the path of the red earth was found a new evil arose to threaten the galaxy. Voltron was needed. Thus five children were called to discover the secrets of the Angels, and bring back Voltron!

Shinji thought he had saved the world. No more Impacts, no more Angels, no more Evangelions. But things are never so simple. The new world finds itself a battleground between monsters, aliens and other mysteries. A new adventure lies before the young man, one which he could never be prepared for. This is the final arc of this particular saga where it is reaching closer and closer to its climax. When transcending choice for others and making them for some, where every emotion and motive for all characters will have to face and handle to the best of their abilities. Will everyone rise and pave their destinies or fall from grace? But all roads lead to the stars in the end.

The Great Web a ethereal force that binds all Spider-Men in one way or form. From this web many of these web warriors suffer and endure trials that test their resolve as heroes. Spider-Man a hero who has endured and suffered greatly is the source of it all. But from the legacy of Peter Parker the Great Web weaves a new thread upon another Earth and with it a new Amazing Spider-Man.

What if Kaworu decided that rather than putting Shinji into a hibernative state, he was sent to a world where his limits were only as far as his will determined.

In the final battle with Queen Beryl, history goes off the rails. Now in a new era, can NERV make things right?

He doesn't want to see his father, and he doesn't want to be in Japan. He just wants to be somewhere else for a while and fit in with people that want him. On the day he's supposed to meet his father, Shinji Ikari gets a different offer that allows him to do just that. Two years after the events of MKX, Liu Kang and Kitana along with the other Revenants leave the Netherrealm, and are given a chance to start anew, by becoming family to Shinji Ikari.
