When the Titans Arrived in Africa, they were greeted by the Jumping Mary and waving Spike. In his Pod Max Looked away as Zoe said, "Look Max My mom remembered and when was the last time you saw her do anything other then point at me and say She is real you said she wasn't shut the hell up and give me the you where wrong cash. Sure your Dad left Aki without trying, but sometimes you can't fix the mess."
Max signed, "you are right Zoe." he said as it landed. Cyborg said this, "Now everyone remain calm and wait till the engines die down, the can't open glass unless ejecting safety function is bugging and won't let me Open the hatches till the engines are cool." Raven held out a hand, "allow me, azarath metrion zinthos." Ship glow black and the engine cooled opening the hatches. Starfire floated out, "That's my girlfriend. heheheh." She hovered over shaking Mary and spikes hands, "Hello it is the nice too meet you."
Robin hopped out going, "We only made this trip because of beast boy takes poacher's seriously." the green man was already a giant ground sloth roaring hands out showing claws. " See he is ready to shred." Max came out and helped Zoe down, the Two summoning dinosaurs, as Mary pulled Max into a spin hug shocking him.
Mary nuzzled him, "I always dreamed of motherhood but this is the close as I can get, Long story...long painful story involving A cannibal group of locals." the women all jumped covering their crotches going, "OH HELL NO!" Even the boys looked horrified. Max held the shaking Zoe, Starfire and Raven held eachother. Mary held her hand out, "How I got out was weird too anyway..."
Before Mary could explain out came burst of blue energy chains and their was Ungaro in the Blue cobalt costume. He smirked saying, "Time to poach some animals once you are gone!" Beast boy charged as ground sloth only for the man to move at high speed leaving beast boy frozen in place for him to use a big bat construct to smash him around.
Cyborg was about to fire but Max called out, "NO YOU WILL CHARGE HIM UP!" Cyborg blinked saying "Explain now?" Raven used her magic to hover rocks to block constructs of needles raining down. The witch said, "I can explain that one magic gem stone that feeds off speed and generates energy constructs. or fragment of one." Zoe slashed a card ordering her armored pairs to remain still, "then we need to stand still, Emerald garden!" she said using the move card to drain his health away.
The poacher smirked making a burst of energy flames fire to end it, before he formed a shield to Block Robin's bridarangs, and starfire's star bolts. That's when he saw lighting bolt coming and made a dome. Max used lighting strikes. The man said this, " This thing is a placebo for the speed force and still force!" He called out using it to Freeze everyone in place, well every Teenage hero, "No kids to save you now Mary." he appeared before her construct of sword out to try and slash the woman. However to his shock, Mary turned into a red version of Tank. Everyone's eyes widened. Beast boy said it now normal form, "SHE HAS SAME POWERS AS ME!"
The shock let Mary spin to tail smash The Man back, before she turned into a cheetah and charged, the man going for slash, but she became rat to duck it, before turning into Gorilla for an uppercut on the man's stomach knocking him back. She returned to normal in fighting stance, "I escaped the cannibals by connecting to the red the magical force that binds all animal life together. So yes Beast boy I got the same powers as you!" Ungaro throw up form the gorilla punching. The man then however made a new construct one that made the locked in place titans scream. A guillotine around Max who struggled. Mary's eyes widened in horror.
The man got up, "I can lock you all in place, I was shocked by your super powers, but I spied, you have talked nothing about loving your stepson sense you remembered him, meaning he Is your weakness, with Chomp restrained you have no way to save him." That's when the blade dropped and everyone screamed till the energy construct vanished and our heroes were freed.
the villain looked down and there was no blue cobalt fragment. holding it in his hand was Spike with rope, "you underestimate rodeo roping bronze medalist. No one is taking my son away again on my watch." The poacher found himself frozen, as his speed was sucked up letting Spike appear in super speed his free hand covered in blue energy construct of boxing glove and he knocked him out. The sucker punch was legendary, his teeth flow out as he was sent flying by it as Spike said, "Daddy says knock you out."
Zoe tackled Max hugging him while sniffling at how close he was to death. Max held his neck, Mary ran over as Cheetah before returning to normal to hug him crying. Beast boy blinked hands up, "I know I am focusing on the wrong thing but you are telling me I could have gotten my super powers without turning Green... Look at me, I can't have a secret identity, The only other green person I can think of is Jade." Raven then used slap on the back of his head.
Robin spoke up moving, "Well I guess you don't need us anymore seeing as you two now got powers, However let's stay awhile." He smiled at Max being hugged by his father and step-mother, a hint of jealousy. Later on at night around a fire. Beast boy spoke up hands out, "So How the hell did you get your powers escaping cannibals Step-mama Taylor?" he asked everyone looked at him, "What you would think those monsters would have used it themselves to get powers."
Mary rolled her eyes, "The ideal they worship only gave the red connection to innocent blood when spilled. Not one of them was noble enough. they ripped my heart out my blood spilled triggering it and my new powers made me a Hydra not the dragon the real life worm thing that can out itself back together like building blocks. I got the powers at first bleeding cut for the big kill, and well that saved me, but the damage before the alter was already done so it didn't work." She growled holding her crotch as she said, "I never felt more helpless despite having super powers."
Raven raised her hoodie remembering her father coming for her, "...I hear you lady I really do." Starfire remembered being captured shivering. Cyborg remembered the day he first saw his reflection as this thing, he looked at his hands." I think we all do." Zoe and Max remembered the childminder and being forced into this strange new world. Beast boy remembered name a jacked up Doom patrol adventure, " yeah totally do step-mama. "
Starfire wanting to change subject said one thing, "I wish to know how the killer of rare animals had found the magic gem fragment? Does the gem not belong to a Flash's evil twin?" Max nodded and said, " yeah but with how many times it gets smashed, it's odd to thing some fragment won't be collected and sold on the Black market. He probably just killed animals sold their corpses and collected money to trade for a magic gem to get super powers fueled by ripping the speed out of others."
The team leader crossed his arms sitting on a log, "Max is Right, Nothing odd about this what so ever. It's the simplest answer so it has to be right. I hope. However Mary, What If I told you Bruce Wayne was looking to make an indoor jungle to take some rare animal like this and give them a more protected home, making a man made island for it? He is one of batman's biggest backers I can drop your name for the job and your preserve for animals. It's location will be close to Jump city." She smiled saying, "I would like that."
Elsewhere watching on spy drone was Slade who held his own Blue cobalt fragment laughing, "So the recreation of the e blue cobalt fragment worked. I really did. Sucked the speed out to convert the energy into energy constructs and super speed for user. " his fragment was small. " Robot butler do tell the person who recreated it job well done, the beta test on it worked perfectly. A bitty it took him Five years to grow just one copy. It will take Fifty years to have ten to see for a placebo lantern Corp. Oh well It will be my retirement plan." he said loading his fragment the real one into his gauntlet. "So tell him to get to work on it and teach other people to get to work on it."
Slade summoned a staff of Blue energy saying, "It is a wondrous invention all the power of a lantern Corp at your finger tips, I can't wait to use it in combat against someone who deserves it." He said getting up and walking off "pitty the one weakness is on holding on to the Crystal that grands you the power, too bad we can't ring shape them and the shape is random and shaping it proved impossible without one of the force powers." he said leaving this behind. "Also Do keep watch on Mary and Spike Taylor. I am curious about the Ideal Mary spoke about that saved her life and granted her super powers."
He turned looking back at the monitor, Max and Zoe holding hands kissing, "He knew about it faster then Robin, and catches on faster maybe He would be the better choice over Robin, or maybe I will take both? Well mentally better as he is the better detective but combat wise Robin still out classes him." he spoke turning his back and walking off into Darkness.
