Chapter 4: Cook's Birthday Part 1

Elaine woke up to the sound of her alarm clock, today was Cook's birthday. Freddie had invited her to the pub so they could celebrate it with him. Everyone would be there which made her spot of nervous but she hoped she would be fine with Freddie there. She shut off her alarm, pulled herself off of her bed and took her brush from her nightstand. She brushed out the knots in her hair, letting out an aggravated sigh. She needed a spliff, badly. The sound of her mobile chimed and she quickly grabbed her phone to see who texted her.

FREDDIE: R u still coming?

ELAINE: Yeah

FREDDIE: Okay. Meet up at the pub at 3?

ELAINE: C u there

Elaine shut off her phone, a subtle smile on her face as she tossed it onto her bed. She pulled a silky maroon dress from her dresser along with a pair of ripped tights and her black leather jacket. Her sister Effy had a t-shirt along with blue pants and her black tie. Effy had spent the night at Pandora's so she'd be walking to the pub alone today. After getting ready, Elaine pulled on her doc martens and zipped them up. She had a pair of black hoop earrings on along with a few leather bracelets. She grabbed a smaller bag, one she could wear on both shoulders. Elaine put her tin case and cigarettes in her bag along with a few vodka shooters because she had a feeling she'd desperately need them. Once she fully got ready she looked at herself in the mirror and adjusted her braids before leaving.

Once Elaine left her house she grabbed her small backpack, taking a cigarette from her pack, the lighter, and a shooter. She opened the small bottle and downed the entire thing on her way down the street. She lit the cigarette, tossing the pack and the lighter back into her bag and she tossed the shooter bottle on the sidewalk.

As soon as Elaine got there, Effy, Freddie, Cook, Pandora, Kaite, Emily, and JJ looked over at her.

"Do you have room for one more?" Elaine awkwardly asked as Cook downed a lager. It seemed everyone had gotten started already so she didn't know if they'd exactly want her there.

"Ah princess! Yes, yes come on come sit down. Christina! Get four shots for the sweet Elaine right there!" Cook exclaimed, looking drunker than a sailor. Elaine sat down beside Freddie and gave him an awkward wave as she put her bag on her lap.

Cook had put birthday hats on everyone and they sang. "He's a Jolly good fellow."

"Thank, man, thank you very much. What's next? Oh yeah. More drinks, more drinks, more drinks!" Cook chanted as he banged his hands against the table. Christina placed down another lager for the kid along with the shots he was giving to her. Elaine let out a soft sigh, dowing the four shots in a row and the last one had her scrunch up her nose in distaste.

"Fuck, Cook what was that?" Elaine asked.

"It's my personal mix princess. Gin, Vodka, and beer." Cook said.

"Well it's shit." Elaine spat, wiping her mouth with her sleeve. She slumped back against the seat, feeling Freddie's arm on her neck but she didn't want to move. Cook had gotten up to get everyone more drinks for the group.

"He's fun." Elaine commented, looking over at Freddie.

"You have no idea." Freddie said, Elaine's eyes traveling to her sisters who seemed to be filled with jealousy. Was Effy jealous? Why would she be jealous? Elaine had shook it off, deciding to ignore the looks her twin had been giving her. "He's already had half a bottle of vodka."

"Ready? How crazy?" Effy snapped back, earring a kick from Elaine underneath the table.

"Don't be a bitch, Eff." Elaine said, looking at JJ with an apologetic look.

Soon, Cook came back with shots of tequila and almost immediately Elaine grabbed one.

"Airwolf, let's go man." Cook said with a drunken smile on his face.

Each shot he took he made an 'Awoo' and he couldn't help but smile at Freddie's weak 'awoo.' She took her shot, not bothering to join in the 'Airwolf'

"Hey Cook, would you like to see a birthday trick?" JJ asked, a happy smile on his face.

Elaine wanted to see this magic trick so she leaned in slightly, her leg grazing up against Freddie's.

"One pint of normal drinking water." JJ said, putting a cloth over the pint.

"You'll like this one, I've seen it before." Freddie commented, looking at Elaine with a subtle smirk on his face.

"What, he does magic?" Elaine questioned before she looked back at the now uncovered drinking cup and noticed a goldfish inside of it. "Woah. How did you do that JJ?" She raised her eyebrows in amusement, clearly impressed by JJ's magic trick.

"Shazam motherfucker!" Cook screamed as he took the cup in hand and did something no one expected him to do. He drank the water including the fucking fish.

"Cook! Oh my God-" Elaine said, disgust evident on her face as she looked at the birthday boy. "Are you fucking mental?"

Before the birthday boy could respond, Pandora responded for him but with vomit.

"Yes! Come on!" Cook yelled, clapping happily as he laughed at Pandora who puked. "Someone has been drinking milkshakes?" He asked as he sniffed her vomit. "Strawberry milkshake, am I night?"

"Yeah. How did you know?" Pandora said with an unhappy look.

Cook raised his hands up, smiling proudly. "Am I a ninja or am I not a ninja? Christina! We've had rejection. We need a bucket, a mop, and sixteen shots of tequila!" He exclaimed as he walked away.

Eventually Naomi walked into the pub and Katie had wasted no time in commenting badly about the girl.

"Oh great, it's the lesbian coming to gag us up." Katie said.

"Katie. You look like a horse when you talk like that." Elaine spat, sick of Katie's homophobic attitude.

Naomi greeted everyone awkwardly as after Elaine's comment it went silent. Cook soon leaned over the table, looking at Naomi mischievously "Do you want to know a secret?"

"What?" Naomi asked.

"I know the cure." Cook said.

"The Cure for what?" Naomi questioned.

"It's my cock." Cook said.

Elanie went quiet, tuning out everything she could- even Cook's obnoxious chewing when Emily gave him a birthday cake. She took her pack of cigarettes out of her bag, lighting another one for herself. She took one out and handed it to Freddie.

"Are you okay?" JJ asked.

"Yeah just you know. A bit full." Cook said, rubbing his belly.

"I can't believe you ate the whole thing." Freddie commented, blowing out the smoke from his cigarette.

"Well, someone had to get this party started." Cook said.

"Party? You call this a party? Where's the conversation? Where's the dancing? Where are the men?" Katie butted in, obviously bored of Cook's party.

"We're men?" Cook asked.

"They're boys." Elaine corrected.

"Do you wanna measure my dick? It's Daddy sized. What? So you all think this party is shit, yeah?" Coo asked.

"It's a little bit…" Elaine said.

"It could be…" Pandora mumbled.

"It's shit." The brunette twins said in unison. Elaine was sick of how obnoxious Cook was being and how boring his party was.

Cook left and stood outside disappointed. "Something's gotta happen man…something big, come on man." He begged as he looked up at the sky.

It was like he was begging God for something fun to happen for his birthday. He continued to talk to the sky before Freddie left the pub on the phone with his sister, Karen.

"What? But where are you, I can't hear you. I don't have anything okay?" Freddie frustratedly spoke on the phone.

"Who is it?" Cook asked.

"My sister, Karen." Freddie said.

"Tell her I said hi." Cook said.

"No I haven't got anything, okay? You'll have to find your own. No- I don't have any drugs, bye!" Freddie repeated as he hung up the phone.

"Why couldn't you hear her?" Cook wondered and Freddie walked closer to him as he put the phone away.

"She's at some engagement party. Her mate Kayleigh's getting hitched." Freddie said.

"So it'll be a free bar, free entry, that kind of thing?" Cook asked.

"Yeah, I suppose, why?" Freddie asked.

The only answer Cook gave to the tanned man was a mischievous smirk and it was known that he was gonna try to get into that engagement.

"No, no, no, no, no way!" Freddie said.

"Why not?" Cook asked.

"Because my sister's there, and I don't want to see her. Plus, she doesn't like you very much." Freddie said.

"Why not? I'm always touching her and flirting with her." Cook said.

"Yeah." Freddie said.

"Her tits stand to attention when I'm around. I've seen it." Cook said.

"Listen to me, we're not going. No. No. No way." Freddie said.

Elaine soon exited the pub, a spliff hanging from her lips as she dug through her bag. She didn't notice the two men standing beside her as she was too fixated on finding something.

"Fuck where is it." Elaine said.

"Where's what princess?" Cook interrupted, wondering what the twin was looking for.

"Nothing of your business, Cook." Elaine said as she finally found a small bag of MDMA.

"See? We've got just what your sister wants. Drugs. She could let us in." Cook said as he took the baggy from Elaine's hands.

"Cook. Give that back to me or you'll pay the forty quid I had to pay to get it!" Elaine yelled, trying to get her drugs back but he only went into the pub and announced where they were going.
