A Burger for your Thoughts

Danny took in a breath, taking in the air as he flew.

His mind was on a talk with his clone, all regarding someone who betrayed his trust.

Sam Manson.

I can't believe Sam did all that...just because she had feelings for me and got jealous. How the heck am I supposed to react to THAT?! Danny thought.

That's when he passed someone along the way. Someone sitting on the ledge of a building and- UGH…

"Hey, DP! It's me, DP!" Deadpool greeted.

Danny stopped, looking back and seeing the masked man once more.

"Oh, hey… Deadpool." Danny said.

"Been a while…" Deadpool said before looking up. "… almost too long… like someone who should have updated LAST YEAR!"

… I so wish this story was M rated so I can share how I feel…

Danny raised an eyebrow at that before shrugging.

"So, uh… trouble?" Danny asks.

"Oh, no trouble. Just came to give you this…" Deadpool said as he held out a flyer.

Danny took it and read it.

Bob's Burgers Special Weekend Discount for Couples. It read.

"Uh… thanks. But, why aren't you using it?" Danny asks.

"I asked Wonder Woman but she broke my legs. I asked Black Canary by she screamed me off a building. Jokes on them… I'm into that. I asked Shego and she tried to cut my arms off… jokes on her, I was into that too. I'd ask Black Window, but considering which Black Cat was featured here, I'd rather not associate with Disney's middling Marvel cartoons made in the 2010's to cash in on the MCU." Deadpool said.

"Uh… okay." Danny said, not sure what he just heard.

"Anyway… have fun and enjoy whatever this idiot who's taken forever has in store!" Deadpool said as he used a device on his belt to teleport.

Danny was left hovering there, unsure.

"I wonder if he's suffering for one of those psychotic breakdowns Jazz mentioned from her psychology books?" Danny asks.

*sigh* Sometimes I regret adding him to this series.

The Next Day

Since Amity Park's mall was out of the question, Danny decided to take Gwen to a different one.

It was a neighborhood called Highland, some place far from Bellwood but also far from Amity Park, where no one they know would attack them.

"Thanks Danny. I needed this way more than you think." Gwen said.

"Anytime, happy to help in finding and purchasing what you need." Danny said.

As Gwen smiled at his chivalrous attitude, a loud and happy gasp was heard from behind.

"Danny?" She asked.

Danny flinched as he heard the familiar voice. He turned around and saw a familiar face with that familiar voice.

"Angelica?" He said, surprised.

Angelica smiled massively upon realizing it was him.

"Wow, it's...been a long time..." Angelica said, approaching him.

"Uh...yeah..." Danny said, feeling awkward.

Gwen frowned in jealousy.

Who is this? She thought as the blonde girl kept chatting up with her boyfriend.

"Been thinking about you lately, especially since you didn't pick me…" Angelia said.

"Uh..." Danny tried to explain, but the girl he's just reunited with cut him off.

"But don't worry about that..." Angelica said as she got too close for comfort for him. "The important thing is... you came to your senses and came looking for me."

"Uh... actually, Angelica..." Danny started, sounding nervous now. "I forgot this is where you lived... I'm just here so Gwen can get the supplies that she was looking for."

"Who's Gwen?" Angelica asks, sounding irritated.

"Me." Gwen said with her arms crossed and a very irritated look on her face.

Angelica's eyes darted from boy to girl repeatedly.

"Sister? Cousin? Platonic friend?" Angelica asks.

"Girlfriend, actually." Danny said.

"Oh..." A disappointed Angelica went as her shoulders drooped.

"Sorry..." Danny responded.

"It's okay..." Angelica said with a tired look on her face.

Gwen quickly went to Danny's ear.

"Another date from the program?" She asks.

"Yup." He responded.

"Should have figured..." Gwen grumbled.

Angelica wanted to leave this very awkward situation with her dignity intact, so she decided to play dumb.

"So...uh...I wanted to let you know… my dad and mom aren't into me dating right now, I'd have to have turned you down..." She said, wishing to hide right now.

"S-Sure..." Danny said, not sure what else to say since he knew it was a lie.

"Well... nice seeing you, Danny. I can let Savannah know you're taken so she'll stop asking me about you."

"I don't even know who that is..." Danny said.

"Even better. Bye."

Angelica soon left with a somewhat heartbroken look on her face.

"Another date...and all the way out here..." She grumbled.

"Uh...Gwen...you okay?" Danny asked.

"I'm fine, let's just go get something from another store ahead." Gwen said, wanting to move forward.

"There's one ahead…" Danny said, pointing ahead.

Danny and Gwen soon arrived to a store called Lukewarm Topic, seeing an unusual sale as someone was selling T-Shirts about some TV show.

"Sick Sad World?" Gwen asked, raising a brow.

"Oh, I saw that..." Danny said.

"Isn't that the channel that's all about random weird stuff like an undead deadbeat dad?" Gwen asked.

"That's the one..." Danny said as he browsed through some of the merchandise on display.

However, he ended up seeing a familiar face, one who recognized him

"Danny?" Daria said, surprised while still sounding deadpan.

"Daria?" Danny asked, surprised to see her.

Daria was quiet and kept her aloof expression.

"Surprised to see you…" She said in her usual way.

"Oh, I can see how surprised you are..." Danny snarked, which got a smirk from the girl.

Gwen saw this exchange and raised a brow.

"Danny, who is this?" Gwen asked.

"Oh...right...Gwen, this is Daria..." Danny introduced. Gwen was about to speak up but Danny cut her off. "Yes, another past date."

"Lemme guess, you're his pick?" Daria asks.

"I am." Gwen said with arms crossed.

"You're certainly hotter than me, I'll give you that." Daria commented.

"Uh… thanks." Gwen said.

"Daria!" Another girl called out, getting her attention.

"That's my friend, Jane. Later." Daria said as she turned around and headed to her friend.

After Daria left with Jane, Gwen huffed.

Seriously, why do I feel like I'm experiencing a running gag? She thought.

"At least this one said you're hotter than her..." Danny said.

"I suppose that's a compliment I can take..."Gwen said.

"Come on...we can still make it in time for that couple's lunch at Bob's Burgers..." Danny said.

"Should we really go eat at a place recommended by Deadpool of all people?" Gwen asked, already thinking it was a bad decision.

"Well... he's crazy but he's at least not evil. Besides, the flyer did say it's a discount. I don't see any harm in checking the place out. And if anything seems off, we can always leave..." Danny pointed out.

"Alright. I guess we can check it up...but that Deadpool guy still rubs me the wrong way. He might be trying to be your friend, but I really want to avoid him..." Gwen said as they kept walking.

*sigh*Join the club...

20 minutes later

After dropping off her stuff, Gwen took Danny to her bedroom in order to try out a spell she's read.

"You sure this'll work?" Danny asks.

"Yes and no…" Gwen responded. "The spell I'm going to use is going to drain my power like Ben with a smoothie on a summer day. That said… I'm thinking your presence can work."

"How?" Danny asks.

"Morph and I think I can channel your ghost energy to act as a substitute." Gwen said.

"Is that a good idea? I thought you magic or whatever needs your… mana or whatever." Danny said.

"True… this does sound like substituting gasoline with diet soda, but it's not like we can go to Seymour's Bay on the east coast so quickly." Gwen said as she took his hand. "Okay… morph."

Danny morphed.

"Ready…" He said.

Gwen nodded.

After closing her eyes, she opened them and they flashed pink.

In a second, the two teleported, finding themselves not where they were intending to go, but in what appeared to be an outdoor aquarium.

"Did we make it to the right place?" Danny asks.

"One way to find out." Gwen said.

Danny hid behind the bathroom stalls to morph and step out.

Once he and Gwen walked ahead, they encountered a young man eating an ice cream. One who is tall, with blonde hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion.

"Excuse me, sir? Are we close to Seymour's Bay?" Danny asks.

"Seymour's Bay? Fraid I don't know that one, mate. I've been to most bays on this side of the country and I've never been to it." He said with an Australian accent.

"… got it." Danny said, realizing from his voice this wasn't the right place.

"Lewis!" A voice called out.

Danny straightened up.

"That voice… where have I heard it?" He asked himself.

Both men turned their heads and saw a familiar brunette running to them.

"Cleo!" Both boys said in unison, much to the other's confusion.

Cleo, in turn, was surprised by who she saw here.

"Danny? What are you doing in the land down under?" Cleo asks.

"I wish I knew…" Danny said, eyes rolling to Gwen.

Gwen smiled sheepishly.

"Wrong turn?" She responded.

"Uh… in any case… is this the Lewis you mentioned?" Danny asks.

"Is this the Danny you mentioned?" Lewis asks.

"It is." Cleo said.

"The one who didn't pick you?" Lewis asks, eying him suspiciously.

"Heh… uh… no hard feelings?" Danny asks.

Cleo nudged Lewis into dropping the attitude.

"Sure… no hard feelings." Cleo said.

"Cleo's told me everything she knows about you…" Lewis said.

Hearing that made Danny's eyebrows almost leave his head until Cleo whispered to him.

"Don't worry… not everything, especially how spirited you are." Cleo said.

Gwen rolled her eyes.

"I can already tell she's another past date. Plus, I'm guessing she knows it too, right?" She asks.

"She does." Danny said.

"Anyway… I need to borrow Lewis. Maybe I'll see you later?" Cleo asks.

"Uh… might be hard to see you later. Still, take care." Danny said with a wave.

Cleo waved as she dragged Lewis away.

Once that was done, Danny turned his head to Gwen.

"I don't think that place is in Australia." He said flatly.

Gwen shrugged.

"I guess I can't complain about this one since it's my fault it happened. Still, we'll just have to try again. And let's hope our next try isn't in the middle of one of Kim's missions, during one of the Batman's fights with the Joker, or while the Incredibles are fighting a robot…" She said.

After ending up in nearly getting crushed by a giant monster and falling into a chasm that led to magma, the two finally appeared in the town of their intent.

"That must be Wonder Wharf." Danny said.

"It is… I remembered seeing this place during that summer trip. It was… pretty lackluster, especially with the merry-go-round with the terrifying horses." Gwen said.

"So… let's find the place." Danny said as he held out the flyer.

The two walked down the street, seeing a restaurant with a crowd of people waiting to get in.

"That must be it. It might be a while…" Gwen said.

Danny, looking at the flyer, looked up and across the street.

"Actually… that's it." Danny said, pointing across the street.

Compared to what they realized was a pizzeria that had a more inviting exterior and the windows showed an impressive décor, the actual Bob's Burgers was rather simple with an outside that was very easy to miss and the inside looked uninteresting.

"Oh…" Gwen said, sounding slightly disappointed.

The two still went ahead, entering.

"Welcome to Bob's Burgers…" The man behind the grill.

"Welcome! To a fancy feast!" The woman at the counter said.

Both Danny and Gwen cringed at the sound of her singing.

"Uh… hi. We got a flyer from a fri-" Danny noticed the look on Gwen's face for what he was about to call Deadpool, so he changed the word fast. "… an acquaintance."

"Come in. Come in." The man at the grill said as he left and headed his way to gesture to the board. "Might I recommend the Burger of the Day? The Bacon Black Burger?"

"Are you really allowed to leave the grill to greet us?" Gwen asks.

"Well, I mean, I don't want to but I want to encourage people buying the Burgers of the Day since so few people do. Not that they're bad, it's just… I really want people to like them… also, I own the place." He said.

"Wait… you're the owner?" Gwen asks.

"Yup, he's Bob Burger." A man at the counter said.

"That's not my name, Teddy…" Bob groaned.

"Uh… we're fine…" Danny said.

"Sure you don't want it?" The woman at the counter asks. "It's so taste-ty!" She sang offkey.

Both of them cringed once more.

"Linda…" Bob said before laughing nervously. "Sorry, my wife loves to sing… so, are you su-"

"We'll order… just one condition." Gwen said as she rubbed her ear. "Can she please… not sing around us?"

Linda scowled at her.

10 minutes later

"Here's your orders, ya little music haters." Linda said with a dissatisfied look on her face.

"Linda!" Bob snapped.

"Sorry, I should be more considerate to people with bad tastes." Linda said with a bitter look on her face.

Once she left them, that meant the two could talk.

"What do you think?" Danny asked as he took a bite of his burger.

"Eh...good food...weird name and weird management style..." Gwen said while chewing.

Danny glanced at the restaurant and saw the Belcher family being chaotic with the eldest daughter seemingly marrying off two napkin holders and their youngest squirting ketchup and mustard bottles at each other.

"Agreed..." He said.

The two of them continued to eat their burgers, but Gwen noticed a melancholy look on her boyfriend's face.

She had an idea why.

"You're thinking about Sam, aren't you?" She asked.

This made Danny flinch.

"Uh...w-what makes you think that?" Danny asked with a nervous smile on his face.

"Because I know you and I know that you are still bummed about what happened between you guys..." Gwen said.

Danny's expression changed to a defeated one before he exhaled out his nose.

"Yeah, I am..." He said, looking down right now.

Gwen felt sympathy for him and wanted to cheer him up. She knew that what Sam did was unforgivable and it really affected Danny a lot, but she didn't want it to affect him further.

I guess his talk with Danielle didn't do so well… She thought.

With a sigh, Gwen put her burger down

"You know, I spoke with my aunt Sandra about the idea of how to handle betrayal by friends." Gwen said.

"Aunt Sandra? That'd be… Ben's mom, right?" Danny asks.

"Yeah. She suggested the best way to cope… is to talk with people. So… why don't we talk?" Gwen asks.

Danny groaned as he kept his burger by his face.

"I'd rather eat…" He muttered.

Before Gwen could speak, they noticed someone standing next to them.

"Hi, I'm Tina. So… I'm guessing you two are either brother and sister who don't look alike or are two people on date?" She asks.

"Uh… the second one." Gwen said.

"Oh… cool, cool. Also, who's this Ben? Is someone you like?" Tina asks.

"Ben's my cousin." Gwen said flatly.

"Oh… I was wondering why you called his mom aunt." Tina said.

"You heard me call his mom aunt… and didn't stop to think he's family? Wouldn't that have just been… common sense?" Gwen asks.

Tina's eyes darted away.

"So… you aren't breaking up?" Tina asks as her eyes drifted to Danny.

"No." Gwen said flatly.

"Oh… okay…" Tina said.

"Also, you're butting into a private conversation. And we don't know you at all. So, please leave…" Gwen said with eyes narrowed.

Tina pouted as she walked away.

"What was that about?" Danny asks.

"No idea…" Gwen said, shaking her head.

"Oh… well…" Danny said, taking another bite.

Despite that, it did not change that they had something to talk about

"It still hurts, doesn't it?" Gwen asked.

"My lifelong best friend stabbed me in the back, all because she was jealous about us. She just couldn't trust my judgement..." He said, moping.

Gwen could only remain silent as she saw him sit with a depressed look on his face.

I wish I knew another way to do this. She thought.

She knew that there is one way that might fix all of this, even though her own heart isn't into it. Still, she was willing to do anything to make her boyfriend feel better.

"Danny, I think that you need to talk to her..." Gwen said, surprising her boyfriend.

"Wait, are you serious? Of all people, you should be the one who wants me to permanently cut ties with her the most." Danny pointed out.

"I know, what she did was stupid, selfish and borderline psychotic... and a part of me is still mad that she spied on us and kept trying to persecute me like I was a witch...but... I also know that she did it with good intentions..." Gwen said.

"I wouldn't call jealousy good intentions. Besides, if good intentions were a good reason for bad decisions, prison wouldn't exist." Danny pointed out.

"Fair enough… but she's still someone who had your back for a long time. I can tell this hurts you. I heard your talk with Danielle and you barely listened to her. Clearly, you're hurting…"

Danny was silent, unsure how to respond to this.

He thought back to that same talk. How, during the ride home, he mostly tried to stop talking about Sam.

"I just… I want to… but I can't just do it because people tell me I should…" Danny answered.

"Danny, I just want to see you happy again... even if it means letting her back into your life. I'll respect whatever you decide to do but just... think about it..." Gwen urged.

Danny was still quiet as he pondered what to do.

Should I? He thought.

The serious talk was soon interrupted by the son of the Belchers appearing before them with his keyboard.

He pressed various buttons around the two, making a random, and less than appealing, sound.

"I'm serenading you two with my music…" He said.

"Way to go, Gene. I'm Louise, his manager… bet you liked that, huh? Pay up." Louise insisted.

"Kids…" Bob grumbled.

"Yeah, hang on, Dad… we're gonna make a killing serenading to couples." Louise insisted as she held her hand out for money.

"Uh… don't take this the wrong way but… you didn't serenade us, you kind of interrupted an important talk. Please leave…" Danny insisted.

Louise scowled at him as she walked away, pulling Gene with her.

Gwen groaned, realizing this lunch isn't going as well as they hoped.

"On a date, huh?" The man at the counter asks. "I'm here too. Sort of, not really but who knows how it goes, right?"

"Teddy…" Bob bemoaned.

"Let's just finish and get out of here…" Gwen said.

"Amen to that." Danny said, taking a quicker bite.

5 minutes later

The two finished up and were about to pay when Bob smiled at them.

"So...what did you think about the burger of the day?" Bob asked.

Gwen sent him a flat look and decided to be frank about it.

"I will admit that the food was good..."Gwen said.

"Good to hear…" Bob said in relief.

"However... I do have some comments to make about the overall methods used to run this restaurant..." Gwen said, frowning at the area.

"What...uh...what do you mean?" Bob asked, growing nervous.

"For starters...this place's lack of proper décor practically non-existent, like you have no theme or idea what this place should look like..." Gwen said.

"What? Uh...well... the theme is restaurant, you're in a restaurant..." Bob said.

"That's not a theme… that's just what the building is. I see no photos of important landmarks for this place, no photos of you and your family, nothing to suggest a person would want to eat here and feel like being here instead of home." Gwen said.

"I like it." Teddy said in response.

"Teddy… you'll like my food anywhere." Bob said.

"That is true." Teddy admitted.

"Second, you might want to invest in some actual advertisement and not just use some handout flyers to get people come here. Me and my boyfriend only even found out about this place because... someone we know told us about it..." Gwen said.

"Wait? Really? So the word is finally spreading..."Bob said, missing her point.

"A word. I noticed so few people are here. Do you even have a social media presence? Or do you even go out to get people to come?" Gwen asks.

"Uh… no…" Bob admitted.

Gwen rolled her eyes.

"Another thing that I believe you should reconsider is how to get feedback from customers on how to improve, which I get the feeling that is one of the reasons why you get so few customers..." Gwen said.

"But this is my restaurant..." He insisted as Gwen continued to criticize him.

"Another reason why I think you are clearly lacking business is because you are wasting too much time and money on that silly Burger of the Day gimmick of yours..." Gwen stated.

"Silly?! The burger of the day is one of my best in ages. What the heck is wrong with it?!" Bob insisted, getting upset now.

"Yeah! I like it!" Teddy said.

"You like all of them, Teddy." Bob reminded.

"True." Teddy admitted.

"You spend way too much money on that gimmick and it's not practical to do it every day if you don't use the same recipe long term. Let's say someone likes this burger and comes back, and you're not making it anymore. That's not just a recipe for a tasty sandwich, it's a recipe for hurting your own business. You're just throwing money away in the end..." Gwen pointed out.

Bob suddenly felt himself break. As Gwen left the money on the counter and walked away, leaving through the door with Danny, Bob rested both hands on the counter, feeling like he's about to fall.

"Bob?" Linda asks, approaching him.

"Oh my god… she's right…" He said.

"Bob?" Linda asks again.

"I've spent way too much money on the Burgers of the Day. I keep trying to think of fun ingredients and now I'm realizing it just eats up the profits…" Bob said.

"Don't let that uppity little redhead get to ya, Bobby. The people who stick with you do so because they love you for what you do…" Linda said.

"Too bad it's like 2 or 3 people a day, not enough for run a business…" A familiar-

NO! Not again!

"Sup?" Deadpool asks, appearing from the bathroom door.

"Uh… hi. You fixed the bathroom like I asked? Mr.… masked plumber guy?" Bob asks.

"I did… changed it back to before the tubby moron's stupid choice." Deadpool said as he presented the bathroom, resembling how it once looked.

"Oh wow… thanks for that…" Bob said in relief before realizing he had to pay the man. "So… how much do I owe?"

"Oh… it's not a problem… I own the place now so I had to renovate it." Deadpool said.

"… what… what did you say?" Bob asks.

"I said I own the place now… I wanted Danny and not-Kim to enjoy the first burger as the new customers of the now under new management Bob's Burgers." Deadpool said.

"You don't own this place." Linda said.

"I do now. I… arranged to have both Fischoeders arrested by the feds thanks to some connection with SHIELD. So, I seized all their assets before anyone knew… which means I own this place and all business he did. So… first order of business… renovations! Also, Bob? You are no longer owner… I am bumping you down to just chef." Deadpool said.

"WHAT?!" Bob shouted in shock.

"You never responded to any calls made… and everything Gwen said made it clear you're no businessman. That's the real reason you didn't end up on the list, not that they served sweet potato fries… FYI, we're putting those on the menu." Deadpool said.

"WHAT?!" Bob shouted.

"And… Linda and your kids are banned because they're messed up fools." Deadpool said flatly.

"Hey!" Linda snapped.

"And… Teddy cannot stay for more than 30 minutes, we now have a time limit." Deadpool added.

"What?! But I stay here all the time for hours! They love me, right?" Teddy asks in shock.

"No, they don't. They hide it." Deadpool said flatly.

Before Bob could argue with this, someone stepped through the door.

"I'm here for the job…" A familiar voice said.

Bob was shocked to see who it was.

"Jimmy Pesto?!"

"That masked guy showed footage of my restaurant having expired food in the freezer that I didn't clean, along with Hugo giving me a pass anyway. He's been fired and my place just shut down! So… he offered me a job here…" Jimmy Pesto said flatly.

"Oh… I guess that's not a problem if you're working for me…" Bob admitted.

Meanwhile, in Amity Park

There had been no ghosts all day, leaving the Masters Blasters in their vehicle alone all day.

Thrash was keeping an eye out for trouble as the other two were in the back.

"This is boring..." Thrash complained

"Shut up, we're getting paid to do this..." Vid said as she and Download checked footage on their computer.

"Yeah, but Masters better give us extra for all the sitting down and slurping ramen noodles we're doing..." He complained as he took some noodles into his mouth.

"Idiot…" Vid said as she smacked him behind the head.

"Ow! What're you doin'?! I'm not a ghost!" He complained as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Just do your job if you don't want that to change. I wanna get this done with already..." Vid complained as she went back to filing her nails.

Download glared at her.

"Who made you leader?!" He grumbled.

"The mayor." Vid said flatly.

Before he could yell at her, Thrash noticed something on the computer screen that the two weren't even looking at.

"Hey, look at that!" Thrash pointed out.

"What is it?" Download asked

"Go back to footage from when the bounty on the ghost kid showed up, and the one with him appearing out of nowhere in San Francisco." He said.

They had been looking at footage of Danny Phantom from the town's surveillance footage and other known appearances, hoping to find some something that could give them an advantage.

However, they noticed something in particular. It was a gothic girl with black hair, who seemed quite familiar with him. She was appearing in both recordings.

"I think I remember something..." Vid said as she typed something.

The computer showed a news report of a giant meat monster, noticing that at the bottom showed Sam and Tucker's faces.

"Looks like she's been showing up in a bunch of ghost sightings. Some even said they think they saw Danny Phantom back before he was even known at that incident." Download said as she scratched this chin in thought.

"Her name is Samantha Manson. She's the daughter of the Mansons, total snobs yet she's super anti-authoritarian and a total soapbox girl who hates on the rich and cheerleaders. She's also gots a bit of a record..." Thrash said as he checked the stats on her.

They noticed that she was with him in a lot of the old footage and photos, which made it suspicious to them.

"A girl stalking a ghost? For a girl who seems to hate stereotypes, that sounds cliché..." Vid snarked.

"I don't think she's just a fan. They look like they know each other whenever they show up in the same photo..." Thrash pointed out.

"Well, then...I guess we'd better go find little miss Manson and have a word with her..." Vid, the leader of the Masters Blasters, said before glaring at the image of the goth girl.

Okay! I get it! I had plans to do it last year but I'm aiming to do more this Summer, okay?!

Sure you are... and because the readers can't tell, I have a heavy dose of sarcasm in my voice.
