Destiny VS Love
Chapter 1
Kagome felt like she'd been going through the motions for years. After she was sent back to her time she'd visit the well periodically, but it was just a well now. Each year she'd visit less, but she always came back hoping the well would take her back. Without the Warring States Era distracting her, Kagome dived into her studies. She was now the top student in Tokyo University's history department. Most people thought her expertise came from her parents' upkeep of the shrine. Although she did start listening to her grandfather's retellings eventually, her knowledge was from firsthand experience. She clung to those moments desperately.
"Happy Birthday Kagome!"
Kagome's blue eyes widened as she realized where she was. She was surrounded by her friends, both from high school and college. The izakaya was lively and she couldn't help but smile at her girlfriends. Yuka, Eri, Ayumi, and two foreigners from Tokyo U. It meant a lot that her childhood friends came, they took different paths and were thriving. Being around them felt like old times. They were also eager to catch up. It wasn't shocking to Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi that Kagome had a gaggle of foreign friends. They hadn't forgotten Inuyasha either.
Ayumi presented a cake for Kagome and lit the candle. She started singing and her other friends joined. Kagome missed her friend's sweet voice. She was the only one not drinking. It was obvious why. On her purse was a pink pendant of a mother holding her baby. Although she was still slender, in six months she'd be a mother. It couldn't have happened to a better girl.
Eri grabbed the restaurant's tablet and ordered another round of drinks. "I'm so glad you battled your illness."
"Yeah, we've always wanted to do things like this with you," Yuka seconded.
Kagome chuckled, "I don't do much of it now."
Her foreign friend nodded her head. "Yeah, you didn't have more than a beer during our Gold Week picnic."
Yuka looked at her quizzically, "Was it because that two-timer wanted to be a three-timer?"
"Go ahead and let loose, we'd never betray you like that Sango girl."
Kagome's cheeks reddened, "She didn't mean it. Plus I sat him to oblivion." She said the last part grimly.
Yuka and Eri shivered. "Do you still keep up with them?" Ayumi asked.
Kagome sighed, "No."
"Good riddance," Yuka grumbled.
"If you want to continue the night, come to my house, I make a mean mixed drink. A virgin one for you Ayumi. I also have a cot and I'm a few stickers away from my taxi punchcard. Y'all can stay the night or I can get more stickers," the foreigner suggested
"I'd love to. By the way, where are you from?"
"Lousianna"
Kagome strolled lackadaisically back to her home. She asked the taxi to drop her a few blocks from her home. It wasn't because she was drunk; she was just depressed. She debated talking to a doctor about her numb feelings, but could she really be helped? She was mourning the fantastical. This night helped, but there was still something missing.
Her mother was surprisingly awake. She grabbed a piece of gum and made herself as rational as possible. "Hi, mom, you didn't have to wait up."
"I know, but I have a feeling." She had Kagome's bike next to the well and her backpack packed.
Kagome felt the tears rush to her eyes. Her mother didn't have to do this. Was she also holding out hope that the well was open? In honesty, Kagome's mother wanted the portal to open. Her daughter grew up to be a beautiful woman: smart, caring, filial. She couldn't ask more from a daughter. She wanted Kagome to be happy.
"Mom. It's just an old well."
"But you're not just a girl." She put a jacket and the bookbag on Kagome. "One more time,"
Kagome thought about going to bed. She humored her mother and went to the well. There was no reaction. She sighed. She should've just gone to bed.
"What do you think?"
"It's delicious!"
"Can you feel the alcohol?"
"No."
"Don't worry, you will."
Kagome's body started to feel hot. Even though she did well holding her composure with her mom, she was still intoxicated. Her head started spinning. She swayed and fell into the well. Minutes later, her mother came in to see an abandoned bike and her daughter nowhere to be found. "I hope you'll come back to me someday."
Meanwhile…
Sango tucked in her toddlers and kissed them both on the forehead. They didn't even stir. Finally, they fell asleep. The baby girl in Inuyasha's arms too. She took the girl and placed her with a group of sleeping wolf pups. One snuggled up close to their daughter, yawned, and went into deeper sleep. His eyes softened until he realized all three children were asleep. Inuyasha silently celebrated triumphantly. Sango smiled and rolled her eyes. This small victory made her happy too. A few of the wolf demon women giggled at their antics before going back to what they were doing. Sango crawled next to him and laid her head on his shoulder. The fur she wore was very comfortable and sleeping next to Inuyasha made her warm at night. He put his arms around her waist. It felt good to hold her like this.
Inuyasha would have never imagined his life like this. He thought he'd found his forever with Kikyo and later Kagome. They were amazing women. He could never forget them, but just wasn't meant to be. The year Sango turned 20, mating season gripped them horribly. He remembered following after her, biting her. His demon did everything in its power to take her. He managed to hold it off until the middle of the season. By this time, Sango didn't resist either. It was the best thing that happened to them. Not only were they no longer alone, they had a family. He'd never admit it aloud, but he also had friends. They temporarily lived with Koga's tribe. Sango made that decision. She wanted her children to be protected even if they showed signs of their demonic heritage.
The longer he held her the more he started to notice that she smelled amazing. He held her a little tighter and placed her on his lap. Sango gasped and blushed. "Inuyasha" she whispered "we just got them sleep"
"Just don't make too much noise then." He jumped up and quickly made it to a clearing in the forest. The stars shone bright.
Sango burned hotter. She was so adorable to him. The face she made when he kissed her neck made him want her more. "Sakurako might wake up hungry."
"She's asleep, plus I think it'd be a good idea to give her a sister to play with, don't you think?" Inuyasha's eyes were dark ruby as he said this.
She shuddered. There was no way she could be quiet when he looked like that. "It's late. I'm tired."
"You'll sleep real good, when I'm done." He whispered as he pushed forward putting her in his favorite position. Who knew when they'd get another silent night?
Kizugawa's voice hit Inuyasha's sensitive hearing. "Daddy, I gotta go pee!"
Inuyasha swore under his breath, looking at the woman under him. Sango turned back and looked at him seductively. The fur skirt easily raised. He could see his glistening prize. He could smell her; he wanted her badly. If she'd heard their son, this would be over. He was going to ignore his pup, however Kizu had other plans. 'Fucking brats! Not now…'
Since Inuyasha didn't come, Kizu thought he wasn't heard. He decided to shout! "Daddy, I gotta go pee!"
This woke up his twin, Kazemaru. "Daddy! Kizu's gotta pee!"
Inuyasha punched the ground in sexual frustration. Soon the rest of the pups, including Sakurako, grew rowdy, whimpered, and cried from the yelling. The women started calming their young and offered to take the twins to relieve themselves. "No, it's dark and I can't protect you by myself." Kizugawa hung his head. The demoness cooed over his cuteness.
"I'm here too!" Kazemaru yelled. "We can protect her together! Ask the pack little brother."
"I'm not little! I'm going to pee on you Kaze-baka!"
"I'm telling"
Inuyasha straightened Sango up. She was so confused. He held her bridal style and headed back to the cave. "The boys woke everyone up."
Sango's cheeks reddened. "Everyone?" She got her answer; she could hear the yips and cries before they were inside. Inuyasha picked his boys by the scruff. Sango rubbed Sakurako on her back and scowled at the boys for waking the pups up. Inuyasha pointed at Sango. "Don't fall asleep."
Sango blushed as Inuyasha left. After Kizu was relieved, his twin had to potty as well. Inuyasha punched them in the head and scolded them about being mindful of the pack. He didn't realize his volume was also extreme. They boys apologized. Inuyasha sighed, and took their hands. "You'll be able to protect the pack one day, but for now, you need to eat, sleep, shit, listen to your mom and grow. Got it?!" They nodded. Inuyasha brought them back to the pack and with the other toddlers. They nuzzled their faces on his. He blushed a little, feeling how much his boys loved him. They looked so much like Sango, but the amber eyes, fangs and claws were all him.
Inuyasha turned to the nursing women ready to continue things with his mate. He didn't hear Sakurako so he was excited. He was sure it meant Sango put her down for bed.
WRONG!
Inuyasha's daughter smiled at him with her big purple eyes, his mother's eyes. Sango was still holding and nursing her, but she was fast asleep. Inuyasha slapped his forehead and snarled, "keh" These kids would be the death of him.
(A/N) I originally published this over a decade ago, but I deleted it because I hated the infidelity. I'm going to try to devote an equal amount to Inu/San and Sess/Kag. TBH, I have no idea what I'm going to do next
Next Chapter: Sesshomaru visits the village to give Rin a gift and sees Kagome.
