Chapter Twenty: Saturday Night
"Kara?" Laurel entered Kara's apartment, "You texted 911, what's wrong?" She shut the door behind her walking further into the apartment, Robbie came walking from the kitchen popsicle in his hand. "Where's your mom Rob?" Laurel asked.
"In her room," Robbie answered. "She has clothes everywhere!" He moved his hands in a circular motion.
Laurel nodded with a smile, she walked towards Kara's bedroom, there she saw Astra sitting on Kara's bed watching as her mom just threw clothes out her closet.
"Doing a little spring cleaning?" Laurel teased with a laugh.
Kara jumped out of her closet hitting her hand on the rack that held the clothes she hadn't thrown out yet.
"No," Astra looked up at Laurel. "She has a date with uncle Tommy."
"You have a date with Tommy?" Lauren tensed.
"Yeah," Kara nodded a worried smile on her face. "I know there's a girl code but he wouldn't stop asking and —"
"Kara," Laurel cut her friend off with a small smile on her face. "It's ok."
"Really?" Kara asked with a relieved smile.
"Yeah," Laurel nodded. Laurel couldn't help but feel jealous but it seemed fair since she was sleeping with Oliver while they were in college. "So what do you need help with?"
"Hair, makeup, and as you can see clothes."
Oliver walked down the stairs of the Queen Mansion, a duffel bag in hand.
"Are you going somewhere, Oliver?" Walter's voice came to his ears just as he reached the door.
Oliver swiftly turned around to see his mother and Walter standing hand in hand.
"Yes," Oliver straightened. "I'm going to Kara's place to spend some time with the twins."
Moira nodded, "Take Thea with you," she told Oliver just as Thea was coming down the stairs.
"I heard my name."
"Yes, you'll be going with Oliver," Moira told Thea.
"Mom —" both Queen siblings began at the same time.
"No arguments," Moira stated firmly.
"Darling, I'm sure Oliver would like to spend some time alone with his kids," Walter said. "And plus Thea's a big girl, I'm sure she can stay here by herself and not get into any trouble," he continued then turned towards Thea. "Isn't that right?"
"Yeah," Thea nodded with a smile. "I can't really do anything because I'm grounded."
Moria eyed her daughter then let out a sigh agreeing to let Thea stay at home.
Oliver slipped out once the three finished their conversation, he walked towards the car that was parked in front of the mansion, he saw Diggle waiting by it.
The two hadn't spoken actual words to each other since the man had found out it was Oliver who was the Hood, Diggle opened the door for Oliver and Olivia got in.
Winn was in his apartment, he packed some clothes for the weekend so he could go surprise Cisco in Central City.
He dialed Barry's number.
"Hey Winn, what's up?" Barry answered after the second ring.
"Hey, do you know if Cisco's working tonight?" Winn asked.
"Possibly," Barry said. "Caitlin's working late as well so he's probably with her."
"Good," Winn smirked to himself. "Can you do me a favor?"
"What kind of favor?" Barry smirked on the other end of the phone as well.
"There," Laurel smiled to herself as she finished Kara's makeup.
Kara looked in the bathroom mirror. "Wow, I look great," Kara smiled at the mirror.
An arrow flung past the two nearly hitting Laurel in the head if she hadn't ducked with an yelp.
"I did it!" Robbie cheered happily glad that he hit his target, which was Kara's bathroom wall.
"Robert!" Kara scowled, turning towards her son with the two arrows.
"Sorry," Robbie frowned. "You look pretty, momma," he said.
"Thank you but don't try to act all kind," Kara told her son. "You could have hurt Laurel," she took the arrow and bow from him.
"Since when was a five year old allowed a toy arrow?" Laurel asked.
"Since a guy in green appeared," Kara huffed.
"I thought you liked Superman, little guy?" Laurel looked down at the boy who was pouting because he got his toy taken.
"I do but I like the Hood a whole lot better!" Robbie pout slowly turned into a smile.
Kara couldn't help but smile, she could only imagine the look on Clark's face when he hears Robbie's words.
"Alright baby go play," Kara gave him the toy back, Robbie's smile got bigger then he ran out the bathroom.
"I can –" Laurel started to offer to babysit but a voice cut her off.
"Hey," Oliver stood in the bathroom's doorway. "Am I on time or did you already replace me?" Oliver said jokingly.
"Yes, you were too late and Laurel is here to watch the twins," Kara went along with him, she could feel Laurel's eyes darting between them as they joked together. "Don't worry Laurel's just here to help me get dressed."
"Good, I want some time with my kids," Oliver smiled. "You look nice," he commented.
"Thank you," Kara smiled.
Laurel eyed them, she felt uncomfortable. It felt as if they were back in college while she was sleeping with Oliver and then had to be in a room with them while they kissed and stuff, but now…they're just too…familiar as if him cheating and being gone for five years never happened.
"How did you get in?" Laurel asked.
"Oh, Astra let me in," Oliver answered.
Laurel only nodded, turning fully to Kara. "I'm gonna go home," she said. "Let me know how the –"
"Yeah, I'll let you know how it goes," Kara quickly cut Laurel off, she hadn't told Oliver where she's going, she just asked him if he wanted to be with the twins.
Laurel nodded with a smile, she walked out walking past Oliver not giving him a glance. "Bye Laurel," he said as she was walking down the hall.
All he got was a middle finger from Laurel, he couldn't help but let out a sigh turning back to Kara who was looking back in the mirror.
"You know," Oliver started. "I think it's great you're going on a date with Tommy," he saw her freeze staring at him through the mirror. "Astra told me."
"Oh," Kara nodded, she played with her a little fixing it up.
"Where is he taking you?" Oliver asked, he moved to sit on the stool that Kara stood next to.
"Big Belly Burger."
"That's classy," Oliver chuckled and Kara nodded with a smile.
Another arrow came from the doorway and Oliver caught it in a blink of the eye.
"Robert Jonas —!" Kara turned towards her son, but she saw it was Astra holding the bow instead. "No more arrows in this house!" she told Astra who nodded walking away.
"They into archery?" Oliver asked.
"Arrows," Kara huffed. "That vigilante comes and suddenly Superman is out of their minds."
Oliver had a sly smirk on his face, he loved how his kids preferred him…well the Hood to Superman, but he noticed the annoyance in Kara's voice.
"You got something against this Hood guy?" Oliver couldn't help but ask.
"He kills," Kara told Oliver. "He helped me find the twins and I'm grateful but killing isn't something I can put aside just because he helped me once."
"What if the people he goes after are bad people?" Oliver questioned.
"And they probably are," Kara sighed. "But killing them isn't the way to bring justice to them."
"If you could like…meet him, what would you ask him?"
"I'd asked him why he kills," Kara said then looked at him.
"Do you know who he is?"
"No," Oliver shook his head.
her hearing picked up a familiar heartbeat. "Tommy's here," with that she walked out while Oliver stayed in his spot.
Oliver couldn't help but feel…he didn't know how he felt, it's like Kara had told him the other night, she didn't need his approval and that meant he didn't need hers, but why did it bother him so much that she didn't like his alter ego?
Kara opened the door for Tommy there he stood with flowers and two bags. "It's like every time you come here you have gifts," Kara laughed, allowing him in.
"What? I like to spoil the people I care about," Tommy smiled at. "These are for you," he gave her the flowers.
"My favorites," she smiled.
"Uncle Tommy!" Astra and Tommy came running from the back.
"Hey there you are!" Tommy smiled, "These are for the two young Zor-El's," he held out the two gift bags.
"Sweet!" Robbie smiled.
"Thanks!" Astra beamed.
"Nothing for me?" Oliver came from the hallway.
"Aren't you the one who brought Thea a rock back from being stuck at sea and nothing for me?" Tommy smiled, his tone teasing.
"You got her a rock?" Kara raised an eyebrow at Oliver.
"It's actually a Hozen," Oliver corrected. "The next time I get stuck at sea on an island I'll bring you back a coconut," he told Tommy.
"When I get my coconut you get your gift," Tommy smiled at his best friend.
"Deal," Oliver nodded.
"Oh Rao," Kara muttered.
"You ready?" Tommy turned his attention back to Kara.
"Just a second," Kara said she went over to the twins, kissing them both on the heads. "Be good for Oliver, and remember no arrows in this apartment, love you."
"Yes ma'am," they said in unison, their attention fully on their new toys. "Love you too."
Kara sighed with a smile, she went back over to the door. "I'm ready now," she told Tommy, who nodded.
They both left.
Central City: STAR Labs
Caitlin looked down at her phone, Ronnie Raymond and Cisco working together on something for the particle accelerator.
Barry: Please babe just for a little while.
Caitlin: You were the one complaining about me working a lot now you want me to stay here longer with Cisco?
She let out a huff after sending the text, she and Barry might be having problems in their relationship mostly due to both of them working a lot, especially her with the particle accelerator project.
Now he wanted her to stay longer without any reason? She just didn't understand him lately.
Barry: I know.
Barry: But this is for Winn.
"Winn?" Caitlin said loudly, now she was even more confused.
"What about Winn?" Cisco looked up from his work at the mention of his husband, hitting his head on a metal rack. "Son of a…!" Cisco rubbed his head.
"Is there a problem?" A voice from beside Caitlin made the woman jump.
"No, Dr. Wells," Ronnie said looking up from his work as well.
Dr. Wells nodded, he didn't move away he just stood there watching the two men turn back to their work on the project.
Barry: Cait…please
[Voice message from Barry]
Caitlin sighed before replying.
Caitlin: Fine.
Caitlin: But hurry up and finish it.
Barry: You're the best! Love you!
Starling City: Big Belly Burger
Kara and Tommy sat in a booth in the back of Big Belly Burger, they were just talking, anything you'd normally talk about on a first date they already knew about each other.
"How are things at CatCo?" Tommy asked, taking a sip of his water.
"Same old same old," Kara answered. "Being Cat Grant's assistant is not for the weak."
"I'm sure it's not," Tommy smiled.
"What's been going with you lately?" Kara asked.
"Not much," Tommy smiled. "My best friend recently came back from the dead and now I'm on a date with the prettiest woman ever."
"Quit the smoothest, Thomas Merlyn," Kara smirked. "Tell me about this woman," she said, her tone playful.
"Well, she's an amazing woman with two wonderful children," Tommy started with a smile. "She's gorgeous, and not to brag she's kind of like Supergirl," he whispered the last part.
"Really?" Kara laughed.
"Yeah," He nodded, laughing with her.
Oliver had caught any toy arrows that Robbie had shot at him. "You have amazing reflexes!" Robbie gushed.
Oliver only chuckled, he noticed Astra sitting on the couch reading a book, the sound of glass made him turn to his son, "Hey Robbie, why don't you go out on the balcony with that?" Oliver said.
Robbie nodded, he put on his shoes and went onto the balcony while Oliver moved over to Astra but making sure he could still keep an eye on Robbie.
"Harry Potter huh?" Oliver sat next to her, "That's a big book isn't it?"
"My reading level is above a normal kindergartner's reading level," Astra told him. "Kryptonian genes I guess."
"Ah," Oliver nodded. "Well I'll let you continue your reading," Oliver stood up.
"We have this event," Astra said, still looking in her book, her voice filled with uncertainty. "Bring your dad or an important male figure in your life to school…"
Oliver hummed, nodding slowly. "Would you and your brother like me to come to your school?" He asked, looking down at the girl.
"I would…Robbie asked Uncle Tommy."
"Oh," Oliver nodded. "Well I'll be there."
Astra looked up from her book seeing Oliver smiling at her.
A whoosh came from behind them and Robbie crashed into Oliver's duffle bag. Oliver ran towards his son.
"Are you okay?" Oliver asked as he helped Robbie up, seeing blood on his elbow.
"No…something poked me," Robbie said, it wasn't pain but due to their human genes they still bled.
"Is that an arrow?" Astra asked, seeing the pointy object poking out the duffle bag.
"Uhm…." Oliver tried to figure out what's best to do in this situation. "Let's clean that wound," Oliver said, leading Robbie towards the bathroom.
Astra watched them go on, she got up from her spot and ran over to the duffle bag, she opened it fully and saw the arrows and the suit of the Hood.
"Oh my…"
Kara and Tommy now walked through Starling Park, the dark sky looming over their heads as they continued to talk.
"Are you cold?" Tommy asked.
"Uh…" Kara thought about it, she knew he was offering her his jacket and she wanted to tell him thanks to her Kryptonian DNA she naturally doesn't get cold, but she didn't want to turn him down. "Yeah, I am."
Tommy smiled, taking off his jacket and putting it around her shoulders.
Kara smiled back at him, the memories of him being there for her flashes through her head.
Robbie and Astra, newborns, a week out of the hospital laid in their bassinets crying, Kara with baby puke and other bodily fluids all over her clothes, her hair was put into a messy bun, the stress and postpartum depression was hitting her hard.
She was bleeding everywhere, her breast ached, she didn't have her powers because she didn't want to hurt the babies so she was wearing her red sun bracelet.
She was on the verge of a breakdown, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
"Oh Rao," Kara cried. "Please," she rocked the bassinets. "Please stop crying and sleep."
There was a knock on her bedroom door, she was still staying with Moira and Thea, just for Thea to have someone to lean on.
"Come in," Kara said, her voice drained and she didn't bother to stop the tears that streamed down her face.
"Hey," Tommy poked his head in the door.
Kara looked up from the twins, she gave him a shaky smile. "Hi."
"Hey," Tommy's voice was much softer, hardly heard over the twins crying. He moved fully into the room shutting the door before moving over to Kara. "Are you okay?"
Kara just stared at him, the tears still going but she managed to give him a glare at his stupid question.
"That was a stupid question, I know," Tommy said. "Have you had any help?" He wiped the tears away.
"Kind of…Eliza and Alex stayed for a few days then had to get back to National City and Midvale, Quentin stopped by with advice and he actually managed to soothe them but didn't last long, then there's Thea and Moira but they're both still grieving…and Moira is trying to run…" Kara said through sobs not able to finish the sentence. "I'm just so tired…"
"Ok," Tommy sighed softly, pulling Kara into his arms. "Well I'm here now," he said. "How about I run you some nice warm bath water and try to manage to get these two to sleep while you actually get some sleep."
Kara looked up at him. "Really?" She sniffed.
"Yeah," Tommy gave her gentle smile.
When Cisco got home, he sighed, taking off his jacket and kicking off his shoes.
His nose picked the sent of food, "Is that…?" He walked further into the small apartment.
"All your favorite foods from Big Belly Burger?" Winn finished Cisco's sentence, smiling at his husband.
Cisco smiled, his couch was pushed to the side while a red and white blanket laid on the floor with spread of his favorite foods and sweets, along with musicals and movies.
"What is this?" Cisco chuckled, a huge grin on his face walking over to Winn.
"Happy one year anniversary," Winn kissed Cisco.
Astra just sat in silence once Oliver and Robbie came back from the bathroom, she returned to her book not saying a word about what she had found.
"How about I order us some pizza for dinner?" Oliver suggested pulling out his phone, both twins nodded, he walked off towards the back to grab something still on the phone.
Robbie looked at his sister, he tilted his head at her confusion in his eyes.
Astra, who felt her brother looking at her, looked up from her book.
"What?"
"Something happened…" Robbie said, he walked over towards his twin.
Something that everyone (who knew) figured it was a kryptonian thing, they both have twin institutions but it was much stronger than human twin institutions, they could sense when the other was upset or hurt or whatever.
"Nothing happened, Robbie," Astra said, returning back to her book.
Robbie only hummed, he turned his attention back to Oliver who was putting his phone into his pocket.
"Pizzas gonna be here in a few minutes."
Both nodded. "Can we watch a movie?" Robbie asked.
"Sure."
Tommy opened the car door for Kara, she smiled and stepped, Tommy shut the door then walked over to the drivers side.
They had just finished their walk and now Tommy was taking her home.
Kara looked down at her phone seeing it was a picture from Oliver, all three of them were eating pizza and watching High School Musical.
"It looks like they're having fun," Tommy said seeing the photo as well.
"Yeah," Kara nodded, putting her phone away. She saw something in the cubby of his car. "What's that?" She grabbed the box.
"Oh that?" Tommy gently took the box out of Kara's hand, opening it carefully and slowly. "It's a promise ring."
The ring was a gold ring with a heart shaped diamond in the middle.
"It's beautiful," Kara smiled. "But what are you promising?"
"To always be there for you no matter what."
Kara smiled widened, then a thought came to head. "What if we don't work out?" She asked, her voice was soft and low.
"I'll still be there for you," Tommy told her. "And for Astra and Robbie."
Kara smiled at him, she leaned over and kissed him on the lips.
Kara walked through her apartment door, she had said goodbye to Tommy outside, giving him one last kiss.
She put her purse on the table that was by her door, her apartment was clean, no sign of toys, arrow, or food crumbs.
Her hearing picked up three heartbeats, she slowly made her way towards the kids room to find Astra and Robbie in Astra's bed, laying on Oliver's arm, they were asleep and he was wide awake.
She snapped a quick picture before speaking; "Hi," her voice soft, careful not to wake the twins.
Oliver looked up at her. "Hi," he smiled at her.
Kara moved further into the room kissing both kids on the foreheads.
Oliver slowly removed his arm letting the two heads fall gently onto the pillow, he got out of the bed walking over to the door Kara followed behind him.
He let her exit first, then he cut the light off and closed the door gently.
"How was the date?" Oliver asked as they walked down the hall.
"It was…great," Kara said with a nod.
"That sounded hesitant," Oliver said, as they entered the living room sitting on the couch. "Was it not great?"
"No it was," Kara smiled. "Well it was better than great, it was…"
"Better than our dates?" Oliver asked trading in his voice.
"Well…" Kara pretended to think.
"Wow," Oliver faked being hurt.
"Okay no," Kara laughed. "It was equal to our dates."
"I'll take it," Oliver smiled at her laughter. "Listen," he started his voice more serious. "I know you said you're done hearing me apologize but I still feel terrible about what happened the other night…and well everything else."
"Oliver," Kara sighed, looking at him. "I'm probably the most forgiving person you'd ever meet, and sometimes that's a good thing," she told him. "If I didn't forgive you, you wouldn't be here taking care of the twins," she said with a pause. "I mean of course it still hurts from time to time and yes you are their father and I wouldn't purposely keep them from you…but you know still you're forgiven."
Oliver nodded with a small smile, he noticed Kara's hand. "Did he propose?"
Kara looked down at her ring and smiled slightly. "Uh no," she shook her head. "It's a promise ring."
"Ah."
"So," Kara started again, "I remember you saying if we ever had a girl, I simply would not find you asleep in a little girls bed," she held up her phone with the picture just from a few minutes ago, a laugh escaping her mouth.
"You see I wasn't sleeping," Oliver pointed at the phone.
"It's kind of the same thing," Kara continued to laugh.
"Is not," Oliver playfully argued.
"It is," Kara playfully argued back.
They both laughed then Oliver looked at his watch, he sighed. "I should be getting back home," he said.
"Alright," Kara nodded, a smile still playing on her face as he stood up. "Can you promise me one thing?"
"Of course," Oliver nodded, slipping on his shoes.
"Don't hurt them?"
"Of course," he kissed her forehead.
Kara watched him grab his duffel bag and walked out the apartment, she sighed getting up to get ready for bed.
*
Kara had just put on her pajamas when she heard a thump on her balcony, she walked out her room and towards her balcony to see the Hood on it, his back towards her as she opened the balcony door.
"Kara Danvers," his voice was gruff.
"Yes?"
"Heard you didn't like me," he said, still not facing her.
"Well a lot of people don't like you," Kara folded her arm. "Why didn't you land on their balcony?"
"Because," he shrugged.
"Because?" Kara repeated with a scoff. "You sound like my five year olds."
Hood laughed at that. "Why do you not like me?" He asked.
"Probably the same reason as everyone else," Kara said. "You kill."
"Yeah, the people who deserve it."
"Or just put them in jail."
Hood hummed still not facing her. "Who are you?" Kara squinted her eyes trying to see through the hood with her x-ray vision.
"Your super vision won't work," Hood told her..
Kara's eyes widened in shock. "I don't know what you're talking about," she tried to keep her voice calm.
"I've seen pictures," he said. "You two look very similar," he could sense the confusion and shock coming from Kara. "But I'm new, I don't know anything right?"
"Right," Kara nodded firmly. "Who's your next victim?" She asked.
"Why?"
"Because."
Hood couldn't help but chuckle at that, with a nod. "Afraid I can't tell you that," he said, then lifted a toy arrow off the balcony floor. "I believe this belongs to your son?" He turned towards her keeping his head down the hood over his head covering his face fully as he held out the arrow.
Kara took the toy from him trying to see under the hood but he was good at avoiding her gaze.
Hood stepped back, pulling out a graveling arrow, "See you around, Kara Danvers," he shot the arrow onto another building top shooting off.
"It's Ms. Danvers to you!" Kara shouted leaning over her balcony as if he could hear her while swinging in midair.
A/N: so….how'd you like it? Did you enjoy the little Kariver and Karmmy (pls if you have better ship names for them give them to me) fluff?
Do you think Astra is good at keeping secrets? Do you think she'll keep Oliver's secret?…she's only five years old and smart so…
Do you think the Hood should keep visiting Kara?
