Phew, first time writing something so dramatic!
A multi-chapter drama that I've been wanting to try. More info at the end, but enjoy!
Pallet Town
It was a normal day. Or rather, it was supposed to be a normal day.
Attention in Pallet Town is focused on a man named Red. He's exiting the house he shares with his mother. His mother follows him, then stops at the doorway, "Are you sure, honey? I don't mind walking over to Viridian City to get the items I ordered. I could use the exercise anyway; I wouldn't want these bones of mine to get old." Red smiles, then tips his hat to his mother, shaking his head. She chuckles, then pats him on the cheek with her hand. "Such a good son you are."
*Heh heh* The pair's attention is drawn to the sound of a man chuckling from across the way from their house. A certain rival of Red is standing in front of the house he shares with his family. Grinning, the man crosses his arms over chest before calling out to Red, "Hey Red, why don't you pick me up some snacks while you're at it, errand boy?" Pleased with his taunting, he then throws his head back, laughing.
Ill advised.
A pair of fingers appears behind this man, and pinches his ear. Red and his mother blink, though not surprised that the man is so quickly immobilized.
"Owww!" The man cries out, helpless against his assailant. "Lemme go, Daisy!"
Daisy Oak huffs, and pinches his ear even more, while scolding him, "Leave Red alone, Blue! He's doing something nice for his mother! Now apologize to her!" Blue let out a forced, 'Sorry ma'am.' No apology for Red though. Getting the point across, she eventually lets her younger brother go, but not without a warning, "And let's not forget, if I need anything, then you'll go and get it for me yourself, riiiight?" Standing over her brother, Daisy talks down to him, literally.
Blue grumbles from his lowly position, "Yes sis..." Pride hurt, Blue gets back to his feet. Crossing his arms over his chest again, but pouting this time, he then called over to Red, "Getting my sister to fight your battles for you, huh?"
Daisy waived to Red, "Ignore him. Have a safe trip!"
"Ha ha, I absolutely love our neighbors!" Red's mother giggled.
And it's easy to see why. The dynamics between the two families is something that has such a nostalgic feel to it. The battles they've fought, the experiences they've lived through, the lives they have been changed and made for the better, (although not so unique in terms of every other person's lives), has finally formed a certain peaceful and existence. One that can't normally be disturbed, under normal circumstances. However-
Red chuckled as well, before tipping his hat to Daisy as well. He then left, waving goodbye to his mother.
- Later -
Red has received the parcel from the Poké Mart in Viridian City, and is now making his way back to Pallet Town. Just a normal trip for him. He's just outside the town, when everything goes wrong.
*KABOOM!*
Red is knocked back by the sudden force of an explosion that had been detonated from somewhere ahead of him. Red unfortunately hits his head on a nearby rock, which causes him to be incapacitated for a few moments.
Meanwhile, with Blue -
*Cough Cough*
Blue's trapped under the rubble of the house that him, his sister, and grandpa all live at. He manages to groan out, "W-what happened..." As he tries to recover, and wrap his mind around what's happened, one thing immediately catches attention: getting out from his predicament. Struggling, Blue manages to eventually to get his finger to press the button on one of his Pokéball's. He'll take anyone of his teammates, and thankfully he gets the best one for the job.
"Mah!" With a mighty heave, Blue's Machamp easily tosses all the broken wood and materials that once made up the home, off of himself and Blue. Then he checks on his trainer.
Coughing again, Blue croaks out, "Thanks." But something more than himself is on his mind. Looking around groggily, Blue asks, "W-where's Daisy? Is she alright? Find her!"
Scrambling, Machamp digs around, while Blue rubs his head. Surveying what use to be their house, Blue's almost broken by the fact that everything's... gone. His family's house has been leveled, missing a huge chunk of it from one side. Blue can see out into Pallet Town, and looking out, he can see that his house hasn't been the only one affected.
"B-Blue?"
"Daisy!" Blue's attention is captured by hearing the sound of his sister's voice. His Machamp had found Daisy, and was helping her back up. Blue went over to Daisy, putting her arm over his shoulder, and helped her steady herself.
Daisy breathed out slowly, "Blue... what about Grandpa?"
"Gramps!" Blue nodded for his Machamp to go outside, and look for their grandpa. Peering outside, Professor Oak's lab could be seen, or what was left of it. The famous lab was hit as well, completely destroyed.
As the Oak's stumble out of their destroyed home, they look around, and take stock of what has happened to their beloved hometown. Many homes have been ruined, and most people are in a panic, trying to make sense of everything. Some people are hurt, and are being assisted by others. What could have caused such a tragedy as this?
"Oh no, Blue, look!" Daisy's cry caught Blue's attention, and he looked over to see where his sister was pointing: Red's house. That place wasn't spared either. And what's going to make it worse is: "R-Red..." Daisy's now looking over to see him entering the town.
Red has his hand on his head, covering a wound he got when the explosion went off and he fell. That pain quickly vanishes as he takes in the sight of his ruined hometown as well, and more importantly, the home he shares with his mother. Stunned and shocked, Red can barely manage to choke out a "!', words unable to formulate in his mind or tongue. Slowly, Red approaches the ruins of his house, falling to his knees in disbelief of what has happened. Daisy's in tears, while Blue is even more silent than Red could be, the pain written all over his face.
Hands shaking, Red throws his head back, and lets out a pained cry that no one knew that he could muster. "ARGGGGHHH!"
And it could be easy to see why; Red's mother didn't escape the house's explosion, and she's still buried under everything. The only difference between her situation and most other people's is her age and condition. The situation is as grim as words could fail to describe.
There is little time left for grieving, however.
"Impossible!"
The group's attention is drawn to the sound of a newcomer's voice, one who certainly doesn't live here in Pallet Town. When he can finally be seen, Blue says the man's name, "Giovanni?!"
Indeed, the boss of Team Rocket, and instigator of many of the Kanto regions problems, has suddenly shown himself. He looks stunned, and in shock of everything that has transpired.
This man's appearance, his background, his timing, and the weight of everything that has happened, in enough to send Red over the edge. "You!"
"Hmm?" Giovanni recovers, and sees that Red is now facing him, anger blazing. Seeing also the glares and hatred from Daisy and Blue, Giovanni puts his hands up, and tries to calm everyone down while defending himself. "You don't think I did this, do you? I did not cause this to happen!"
His words fall on deaf ears, as Blue takes out one of his PokéBalls, ready to fight. "You come out from nowhere, at the worst time, especially with the way you used to handle your business in this region, and you're shocked that we find you suspicious?! We've got some questions that we need answers to, and you seem like just the right kind of shady person to have those answers!"
Giovanni closes his eyes, to think for a moment. When he finally does open them, he calmly replies, "I do admit that I do questionable 'activities' at times, but this wasn't my doing." He then gestured to the wrinkled, and damaged suit that he's famous for wearing. "I was here when the explosion went off. Why would I risk my own life as well?"
Daisy frowned, "We don't know; why do you do most of the things you do? You're always up to something."
"Be that as it may, you've got the wrong person." Red is ready to tackle Giovanni, and get the answers from him forcefully, but Giovanni reminds them, "Shouldn't you all be focused on taking care of your families?"
"Giovanni!" Daisy's shocked by what can be easily seen as a lack of concern or real sympathy. His words, however, sent Red over the edge. In a poor attempt to properly vent his frustration, Red attempted to take Giovanni down, who simply side-stepped Red's rush attack.
Blue gritted through his teeth, "Tell it to the police, they'll want to have a few words with you, after we're done with you." He then arched back to call out a Pokémon of his, but Giovanni beat him to it.
"Sorry, I can't allow that, especially not right now..." Giovanni brought out a Weezing, having it use it's Smokescreen to distract everyone. Blue called out for his Pidgeot, to blow away the smog. Even though it worked, the ex-Team Rocket boss was nowhere to be seen. All they had during the sequence of events was Giovanni's parting words ringing in their heads, "I'm not the one you're looking for."
The trio are left to reflect on his cryptic words, and focus on surviving this tragedy.
- The Next Day -
*Krack-boom!*
It is a rainy day in Pallet Town. The skies above weeps as well. The citizens of Pallet Town have been in recovery mode for the last 24 hours. Daisy's recovering, watching over her grandfather. Professor Oak survived, all those books in his lab helping him survive the place coming down on him. Some people weren't so fortunate, like Red's poor mother...
Red is now numb, having vengeance on his mind. He's been standing alone from everyone else. Blue soon joins him, and the pair overlook the water route leading away from the small town.
"Alright," Blue sighed, "So what's next? Giovanni's gone to who knows where."
"..."
Blue continued, "With his connections, Giovanni could be anywhere right about now. If only we had a better idea to start looking..."
*Hoot Hoot!*
The boys attention was then drawn by the hooting of a bird Pokémon approaching them. When it did, Blue looked down at it, "Is that, a Hoot-hoot?" Said bird hooted again, nodding in agreement. That's when Blue noticed that there was something attached to its ankle. Blue takes the item, the item being a envelope. Despite it being labeled as 'For Red', Blue opens the item, seeing as Red's got too much on his mind to care about much right now.
Red's stoic, staring off into the distance. "..."
"Geez," Blue complained while opening the letter, "What's with all the glitter and hearts..." Taking a moment to read through the letter, Blue's eyes go wide. "Red, you gotta check this out!" Taking the letter over to Red, Blue shows him everything in the envelope. Red doesn't read the actual letter. Instead, his eyes catch what's been included along with it. Red's mouth falls open as Blue explains what it is; a photo of Giovanni. There's no confusion of where Giovanni is, as Blue immediately recognizes the background of the photo, "Isn't that New Bark Town?" Giovanni can be seen talking to a certain red-headed man, and his best friend.
Red grips the photo in his hand, crumbling it up in his anger.
"So," Blue said, a look of determination on his face, "We really doing this? We'd be charging into a whole different region, and be responsible for any problems we cause."
Red nods, adjusting the hat on his head. "..." Red's got such an intense glare on his face as he looks off into the distance, in the direction of the Johto region.
"You don't have to tell me twice." Blue sighs, then straightens and readies himself. Red gets the final words in.
"...let's go."
- Meanwhile -
Unbeknownst to the two of them, a certain person clothed in shadows watches the pair leave. A "..." bubble appears above the individual's head, as they take stock of what to do next. This person had heard about what had happened, and had been watching them, while keeping their distance, wanting to know what Red and Blue were going to do next.
And with their plan in mind, the individual silently makes their move...
There we go!
Oh, I hope I cooked something good here!
So, I'll be trying to get every region involved. And all the protagonists of the games as well. And... some other things that I won't spoil here. But be assured that things aren't what they seem, and there's most certainly going to be a few plot twists as well to look forward to.
I had this idea in my head for a while, and I'm glad to be finally make it happen. I hope it works out!
And I'd be happy to hear what you all think of each chapter, and what you think will happen next.
