39. Chapter 31: Eda's Requiem

The scene shows Eda in her room, looking at a checklist. On the list it had; "New coat for Luz", "Check itchy boy", "Pay water bill", "Clean Hooty (?)" and "Burn old dress".

Eda: Luz needs a new coat. King needs to be checked for fleas. Am I missing anything?

While she was thinking she looked up at her reflection.

Eda: *smirks* Oh, you've changed, Owl Lady.

She noticed a photo that was sticking out of the mirror. She takes the photo off and stares at it. It was a picture of her with her apprentices and friend at Grom.

Eda: *smiles happily* It's worth it.

Eda was happy to know how much these 4 had changed her life. She remembers when she first got her curse she would push people away leaving her all alone. She thought for the rest of her life she would be alone, that was until she met King, Luz, Luke, and Y/N. The 4 of them had made her the happiness witch she could ask for. While she was thinking about this she heard something outside.

Luz/King: And three, and four, and five, and six, and seven, and eight, and nine, and ten!/ And weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh, and weh!

Eda looked outside and saw King and Luz doing pull-ups on owlbert, while Luke and Flare were watching.

Luke: Why are you doing this again?

Luz: *sits on Owlbert* It's training. *looks at King* Alright, King. What's the first thing you're going to do when you meet your dad?

King: And ten thousand! Well, once we're done training, I'm gonna move out of that closet, that's for sure. Then, I'm going to ugly cry. Hard!

Luke: That's a fair answer.

Flare: *barks* Don't worry King, I'll ugly cry with you.

Overhearing this Eda slowly started to become sad.

Luz: Have you told Eda about your decision to le—?

King: *cuts her off* Shh!

Suddenly the sound of the window being shut captures the group's attention.

Luke: I wonder what that was about.

Eda was currently hiding below the window scared that the group noticed her.

King: *offscreen* I—I'm not ready yet. I'm not sure how she'll react.

Luke: *offscreen* I'm sure she will support your decision.

Flare: *bark* And if she doesn't, we will cook her.

Eda lets out a sigh of relief and sadness. She was relieved that they didn't catch her listening to their conversation, but was saddened to hear King was going to leave her.

Eda: *walks over to her dresser* Everyone's leaving, huh? Even King. I guess I'm no substitute for the real thing.

The thought of watching her kids leave her pained Eda. Even though she wasn't the kids' parents, she still looked after them like she was one. She couldn't bare the thought of all of them leaving her alone again. With a heavy sigh, Eda opened her chest and was about to put the picture of them inside until something caught her eye, or more like two things; One was a bell cittern with a raincloud and bolt carved into it. Another one was a piece of a heart necklace, it was black and had a green center in the middle. Eda couldn't help but smile remembering how she got it.

Flashback

Teen Eda: Can I open my eyes yet?

Teen Igneel: Not yet... Ok now.

The teen Eda opened her eyes and was confused. Her boyfriend was supposed to show her something but all she saw was the open field. She was going to ask but felt something around her neck. She looked down and saw the same black necklace with a green center.

Teen Eda: Aww~ Igneel.

Teen Igneel smiled as he pointed at his neck. She looked down and saw he had the same black necklace with a red circle in the center.

Teen Igneel: A little something we can remember each other by.

Teen Eda: *blushes with a smirk* Since when were you so smooth~

Igneel just looked away with a small blush. Eda giggled from her boyfriend's shyness. She looked down at the necklace and promised that she would cherish it.

End of Flashback

Eda: *stares at it with a teary smile* Igneel... *looks at the cittern* Well... I wonder if I can still remember how to play.

Eda slowly starts to play on the cittern. As she played the whole room started to light up, objects started to float in the air as well as Eda's hair.

Eda: *looks at the candle surprised* Has my magic returned?

Unfortunately no. Soon as she said that her orb started to glow black making some of the objects around her glow black as well. The witch stopped playing, causing everything to fall on the ground.

Eda: *sighs* No, I guess not. Stupid curse.

Eda places the cittern back in her treasure box and closes it. She sighs heavily. The owl lady thought playing some music to remind her of the old times would distract herself, but instead it was just another painful reminder that she is still suffering. Eda walks over and sits down near her dresser and looks at the heart necklace she got from Igneel, missing her past lover. While she was doing this, she failed to notice that one of the places, that was affected by her playing, slowly started to turn black and slowly started to corrode.

Music starts playing

The scene starts to open up at the abandoned house in the human world. It starts to zoom in to the portal door that leads to the Boiling Isles

OH~

It now flies over inside showing the bright sky and sunlight of the land. It then crosses over to the Isles itself showing the dead Titan. Suddenly the title screen started to show.

Dragon Slayer of the Boiling Isles

I caught a glimpse of light (when I was empty inside) and through the nothingness (I found this world)

The scene shows the three friends walking through the city of Boonsboro. They passed by many townspeople eventually making it to the owl house where Eda, King, Flare, Nights, and Hooty waiting for them with smiles on their faces

I'll wander calling your name. Until the end of my days! 'Til I find the answer!

The three friends ran up to their friends. Both Luz and Y/N gave Eda a big hug with smiles on their faces. Eda had an uncomfortable look at first, but then eased into the hug. King, and Flare, join the hug, while Luke looks at the scene with a small smile. Nights rubs on Luke's leg as Luke just pets the nightfurry.

Right through my fingers I'm losing the light!

The scene changes with the eye of the Portal door. The eye opens and ignites on fire. Luz jumps in front of it, with her cap on her, as she pulls out some glyphs in her pocket. She slams them together creating multiple light orbs around her.

Why can't I ever do anything right!?

Eda appears in front of her holding Owlbert in her hand with her new outfit. She spins her staff with a smirk on her face and was about to cast a spell but King jumps out from her hair, raising his hands up with a big smile on her face. Eda had a look of annoyance from King interrupting her.

This is the time!

Y/N jumps down in front of Eda with Zack's sword strapped on his back. He then summons fire in his right hand and lighting in his his left. He smirks at the camera as his right eye glowed red and his left eye glowed a shocking blue. Flare was on his head barking at the camera.

Throw it aside!

Luke appears from below in front of Y/N, with a serious expression on his face. He holds his blade in his right hand and has a demon claw in his left. His sword had black blood on it causing it to glow as he lifted it over his head.

Take all your scars and just leave them behind (Oh)

Willow appears from below Luke and in front of him. She jumps up with both her arms out. Her eyes start to glow green as she lifts her arms up in the air. Giant vines start to appear behind her growing all the way to the top.

I'm going to get there dead or alive!

Gus comes from the left scattering in front of Willow. He was holding a book under his left armpit. He pulls the book out and opens it up to a random page. He slams his left hand on the book and then lifts it up. Suddenly two clones of him appear beside him as they all smile at the camera.

But on my own I cannot survive!

Amity, with her new hairdo, does a spin in front of Gus. She then stops in front of the camera as she holds her hands over her head. She then brings them down, with them being on both sides of her. Her hands start to glow as she looks at the camera with a smirk. Suddenly abomination goo starts to cover the camera.

I don't want to lie to myself!

The scene opens up with a three frame slot showing Lilith, The golden guard, and the dragon guard. Lilith had an angry expression with her left arm out about to claw the camera, the golden guard had his staff out as his cap looked like it was flowing in the wind, and the dragon guard had his weapon in front of him. The frames then flip over showing: a Depressed Lilith that had a look of regret and shame, the golden guard who was holding his mask but showing his right red eye and some of his golden hair, and the dragon guard that was holding his mask in one hand, showing of his dark red glowing eyes that had a scare coming down from it, some red hair, and he was holding his weapon in his other hand.

Keep on the fight, that's right! (I'll never lose and cry)

The scene opens with Luke staring into the darkvoid. He was holding Sally's necklace in his right hand and his sword in his left. He looked down the whole time contemplating. Suddenly Sally appeared on his left side with a sweet smile and the little demon appeared on his right with a sinister smile.

Keep running day and night! (It's time to rewrite)

Y/N was surrounded by fire as he had fire in his right hand and lighting is his left. He looked at the fire with determination on his face. Suddenly his mother and Zack appeared behind him on his left, Igneel and a fire dragon appeared behind on his right.

No matter what anyone says I'll find my way

Luz is seen practicing her glyph magic. She then looks up at the sky as she is thinking about all the events that played out. She then sees a picture of her , her friends and her mother. They were all smiling and hugging each other close. She holds the picture in her hand and smiles brightly at the picture, and goes back to looking at the sky.

Yea~ never go away~ (Never go away now!)

A hand suddenly comes and smashes the screen to bits. Belos squeezes his hand as the camera shows his bright blue eyes behind his mask. The camera then distances itself from the Emperor and shows him on top of his castle as he orders his supportents. Below him were coven scouts and the 4 shadow figures. One of them was Zancrow while the other three were still shadows. They all looked like they were ready to battle. The camera then shows The owl house crew looking at the army as they were ready for a fight.

Nobody can stop me no way!

The scene shows Gajeel blitzing through multiple coven guards and charges an iron roar at them. Levy was at his side creating multiple script magic blasting through the guards. Lily was in his buff form using his red blade striking through all the guards. Suddenly a figure rushed at Gajeel cliding his fist with his. Gajeel smirked at the figure who was the demon that was inside Luke. The demon Luke smirks back at him.

That promise is engraved in my memory!

Luke, Willow, Gus, Amity, and Nights were all battling covent scouts. Luke using his blade and shadows, Willow tangled them up in plants, Gus using his clones to prank or knock them out, Amity summoning giant Abominations slamming them away, and Nights blasting them away with a blast from his mouth. A cloaked figure, who turned out to be Redtooth summoning a dark red cursed energy in his fingertips headed straight for Luke. Luke's eyes widen as he quickly counters with his sword. He was glaring at Redtooth as the left side of his face started to turn demonic, while the figure looked at him with a smirk of interest.

We'll take it back, you just watch!

Eda, Lilith, Wendy, Carla, and Flare were all battling more scouts. Eda and Lilith would use combination glyph magic, Carla would power glyph magic, baby dragon would blow fire at them burning the scouts, Wendy would blast a dragon roar from her mouth blasting them all away. The dust would settle and Chelia ran at Wendy. Wendy quickly grabs Chelia's hands as they both start to squeeze as they look at each other. Cheila would smile at Wendy mocking her and Wendy would struggle at first but slowly her eyes would start to glow a bright blue

Everything that we lost, raise up in this world~

Luz was running at the guards striking them with multiple glyphs. She then runs at the castle and throws multiple ice glyphs on the ground. Ice pillars started to appear as Luz ran and jumped on each one of them. Once she reaches the top she jumps in the air above Belos. Belos looks up in the air and sees the human girl with a fire glyph in her right hand. She brings her right arm back and quickly brings it back forward trying to strike the emperor. Belos summons his staff and counters with his own magic. The two clash in the middle resulting in a bright explosion.

The end of our journey is on repeat

Y/N and the dragon guard were battling at an abandoned lake. The two would clash their weapons over and over again, dodging and countering each other. They would clash in the middle and glare at one another.

But I won't let it stand between you and me

Y/N was down on his knees panting heavily. He held his left shoulder with his right arm as he looked up at his opponent. He couldn't see their face since the shadows were blocking it but he could tell they were smiling sinisterly at him. He then looks down at Slayer in front of him and saw the demon smiling sinisterly at him

What are you fighting for!?

The scene shows Y/N's mother in a white void staring at a hooded figure. The figure had their back to her as he looked down. Y/N's mother had a look of sadness as she had her arms close to her chest as tears fell from her eyes. She yells the same words as the lyrics at the figure, causing the figure to flinch as a tear falls from his eye. For a split second it showed a teenage boy with red hair beside an orange hair girl, which was a young Eda, and a black hair boy, which was Zack, as they all smiled brightly.

Cause it's not over!

Y/N gets up from his knees and glares at the camera. Suddenly his right eye starts to go full red and the right side of his body slowly starts to change.

Rise up in this world!

Y/N picks up his blade and dashes at the camera. He lets out a battle roar and slash's the camera making everything go white

End of Theme song

The scene cuts over to a nearby clift, where Luz, King, Flare, and Luke were at. The group were all preparing to start flying practice.

Luke: *looks at King and Luz* Ready?

Luz: *holds Eda's staff in front of her* Ready!

King: *pumps himself up* Ready!

Flare*barks happily* Ready!

Knight*gets out of Luke's shadow and barks* Ready!

Luke: *looks at Nights with a smirk* You two huh? Ok then...

Luke summons his dark wings and starts falling down.

Luke: *looks up at Luz* Let's start!

Following Luke, Luz falls down riding on Eda's staff with King hanging on behind her. Both Nights and Flare follow the three falling down as well. Before they could splash into the water, they changed their direction and flew over the water causing it to split. Luke looks behind him seeing them keep up with him. This made him smirk as he turned around seeing giant rocks in his path. Luke maneuvers around the rocks while the others follow suit.

Luke: *looks back* Not bad. But let's see you handle *lifts his arms* This!

Using the force of his magic, Luke makes a giant wave heading towards the group.

Luz/King: Whoa!/Whe!

Quickly, Luz points Owlbert high, and shoots high in the sky avoiding the wave. Nights however, decides to shoot a fire beam from his mouth making a hole in the wave, and goes through it. Flare... Just flies through the wave.

Flare*barks* Cold!

Nighs: *flies up and barks* Why didn't you just shoot it?

Flare*barks* Cause it was the last thing he would expected.

Nights:...*bark* You're an idiot.

Flare*bark* I'm Flare!

Soon Luz came down and flew past Luke. Luke looked at the girl and smirked. Suddenly Nights and Flare pass him, making the half demon dodge them. He chuckles and starts to fly after them. They all ended up flying high up into the sky letting out a laugh.

Back at the owl house

Eda was in the main room, wearing her outfit, reading a book and twirling a pen in her hair. She had a bowl that appeared to be octopus tentacles... Sounds tasty. And with her trusty 30 & flirty mug. While she was reading her scroll was floating in front of her playing a live feed.

"And we're back live at the emperor's castle!"

This caught Eda's attention. True she didn't like the emperor or even trusted him, but she did want to know what exactly he had been up to. Maybe it could give her hints of what he has planned.

"In light of Scooter Crane's retirement, today's ceremony will confirm Raine Whispers as the next head of the Bard Coven."

The scroll showed the headmasters of all the coven heads. One in particular had their hood up and appeared to be shy.

Raine: Do I have to be on camera?

?: For Titan's sake, just say something.

The Raine let out a nervous groan and slowly started to undo their cloak. Raine was a middle-aged witch with medium brown skin and mint-green hair with white streaks near the bottom. They have darker mint green eyebrows, and green eyes. Raine wears large round glasses, a gray earring on their right ear, and a cloak similar to Hunter's.

Soon as Raine looked at the camera and the crowd, their nerves started to kick in even more.

Raine: Uh, I am honored to work with Emperor Belos in preparation for the Day of Uni-bee. Uh, I mean, Uni-ly! I mean, uh—oh no, this is going all wrong. Get me outta here!

Not wanting to be on stage anymore, Raine quickly ran off the screen and the stage, as the crowd watched.

?: *sighs heavily* Just cut the feed.

Eda: [Mockingly.] How are you supposed to be Head Bard with stage fright? *smells something* Ugh! *covers her nose* What is the foul stench!?

Right on cue, the door slammed open revealing Luke, covered in some green liquid.

Luke: *containing his anger as he walks past Eda* If you need me, I'm going to take a loooong shower.

King: *runs inside* I said I was sorry!

Luz: *holds her backpack at arms length* It's ok buddy. Pretty sure he isn't that mad at you... Much.

Nights*bark* Oh no he's mad.

Flare*barks* Madder than a person trying to relax when their neighbor is mowing their lawn.

Luz: Hey Eda, got another backpack I can borrow? This one got a little thrown-up in.

Eda: *still covering her nose and points* Closet.

Luz quickly runs over to the closet to get a new bag.

Eda: So why are you suddenly so interested in flying? Did you give up on returning to the human realm? I mean, I suppose you can stay here a little longer.

Luz: *pokes her head out* Oh, no. I'm still going home, but I keep running into some setbacks.

Flashback

Luz: Come on, little buddies. You got portal and journal info that I need.

See Luz was trying to figure out how to get the mice to give her information about Philops dairy and Natus's journal. However, the mice were not making it easy for her since they were constantly scared and on guard. Luz was able to find the mice hiding underneath a chair. To get them out, Luz offered them a carrot.

Luz: You want a carrot? Do babies like carrots?

Seeing these the mice slowly started to approach the human girl. The two laid on her lap and Luz split the carrot in half giving it to them.

Luz: Here we go.

The mice start to nibble on the carrot making the girl giggle.

Luke: *walks inside the room* How's it going?

Luz: *looks at Luke* Better. Finally manage to get them out from under the couch.

Luz started to bet the two as they nuzzled in the girls' touch.

Luz: See you two are safe here.

Soon as she said that Hooty came out of nowhere and ate the two mice.

Hooty: *swallows them whole* Fear not, maiden and best buddy! Hooty, the guardian owl of Ga'Hoot, has protected you once more!

Luke: THAT'S IT! *tackles Hooty* I AM GOING TO MURDER YOU!

Hooty: *cries out in pain* HOOT! HOOT! NOT THE FACE! NOT THE FACE!

End of Flashback

Luz: Thanks to Luke, and trying to get him not to kill Hooty, we were able to get the mice back safely, but they need to recover.

King: *runs on top of the desk* In the meantime, this weekend is the Gland Prix!

King handed Eda a pamphlet.

Luz: Hexside, Glandus, and St. Epiderm students race to win glory, honor, and—

King: Fame! Winners also get an interview with the Boiling Isles news! Do you realize what this means?

Flare*barks happily* We get to laugh at the losers!?

Night: *barks* No Flare.

Luz: We are going to enter the competition and get King on camera to send a message to his dad!

Flare*barks* And then laugh at the losers!

Night*barks tiredly* Flare...

There was a moment of silence as Eda stared at Luz and King. Eda didn't know how to feel about this.

Eda: Oh, that's... *forces a smile* great.

King: But, uh... there's something I'd like to talk to you about first. You see, I think it's time for me to le—

Eda: *quickly cuts him off* Leave... the talking' for later. *sweats nervously* If you want to win, there's no time to talk. You gotta go practice. Now.

Flare*barks* Eda is very sweaty *barks at Nights* Do you think she needs to take a poo?

Nights*barks at Flare* Why that out of all things?

Luz: *to King* Wanna head back out while your tummy's empty?

King: Ok!

The two ran out as Flare quickly ran after them.

Flare*barks happily* Wait for me! Maybe I can catch the vomit this time!

This made Nights feel very uncomfortable. He let out a sigh as he started to walk away, since he didn't want to risk King shooting more vomit at him. Eda was now left alone. She drops her fake smiles and sighs sadly.

With Luke

Luke was currently taking a shower trying to wash off Kings vomit off him. He wasn't mad at him... Well not much. Just very annoyed.

Luke: *sighs heavily and looks up* I wonder what you're up to.

With Y/N

At the mountain near Gongaga, the sounds of grunting were echoing in the face.

Y/N: 997... 998... 999... *grunts in pain*

Angeal: Come on Y/N. One more.

The scene shows Y/N with a giant boulder twice his own size on his back. He was in the push up position as he was struggling to push his body up.

Y/N: 1000!

Y/N was able to do 1000 push ups with the boulder on him. Angeal claps and picks the boulder up off him and places it on the ground. Y/N falls on the ground panting heavily.

Angeal: Good work. Your body has definitely gotten stronger.

Y/N: *stands up* I'll say.

Y/N looked down at himself and noticed that his body has definitely changed ever since he started training with Angel. He couldn't help but admire the progress he made. As he was doing it a thought came into his head; What would Luz and Amity think? This caused a sudden blush to appear on the young dragon slayer's face.

Angeal: *notices his blushing face* You alright there Y/N?

Y/N: *breaks out of his thoughts* U-Uh!? Oh me!? *rubs his head* Y-Yea I'm *looks down* Fine...

Angeal: *raises his eyebrow* Really? Cause it seems you have been very distracted.

Y/N went silent when Angeal said that.

Y/N: H-Hey Angeal... Can I ask you something?

Angeal: Suuure... I guess..

Y/N: *pokes his fingers together* D-Do you have any love advice?

Angeal:... No.

Y/N: What do you mean no?

Angeal: No as in... *looks away* I'm not the best person to ask about that kind of stuff.

Y/N looked at Angeal and noticed he had a very uncomfortable look on his face. It almost looked like he had experienced this before.

?: He might not...

The two looked over and saw Aerith with a bag of flowers in her hand.

Aerith: But I might.

Y/N: *gets up* Aerith?

Angeal: Why am I not surprised that you are here?

Aerith: *walks over to them* Rude. But I guess you can call it women's intuition. *looks at Y/N* Don't worry Y/N, lady Aerith is here to help.

Y/N: *sweat drops* Uhh ok then.

Angeal: *sweat drops* Why did you have to say it like that?

Aerith: Just go and get ready and we can do a little walk and talk.

Seeing no way out of this Y/N nodded his head and walked off to get ready.

Angeal: As much as I hate to admit it, you have a better chance to help him with this than me.

Aerith: Yea *looks at Angeal with a worried expression* He wasn't the only reason why I came.

Before Angeal could ask, he started coughing heavily. He fell down to the ground and held his chest for dear life.

Aerith: *knees down and pulls out a potion* You have to remember to take these.

Angeal: *coughs* R-Right...

Angeal takes the potion from Aerith and starts to drink it. Once he was finished he rubs the leftovers off of his mouth and starts to cough less.

Angeal: You should go before he comes back.

Aerith: *worried* You know you can't keep it from him forever.

Angeal: I know... But once I do tell him... Things will change.

Aerith lets out a sigh. Even she herself knows that if Y/N finds out about Angeal's condition, the young dragon slayer will have another burden to carry. The flower girl gets up and starts to head out as Angeal watches. Once she was gone he looked down and lifted up his shirt a little. Instead of showing his skin it showed a giant darkness stretching around his lower torso.

Angeal: Regardless if I use or don't use magic...

Angeal/?: The curse will eat away my/your life.

Angeal: That was the curse that was placed upon me.

Angeal looked down sadly as he remembered how the curse was placed upon him. He lets out a sigh as he leans on the cave walls and looks up at the ceiling.

Angeal:... Zack... I hope your student can fix this old fool's mistake.

Cuts to Bonesborough

The scene cuts over to what appearance to be a bar looking area. Eda was at the front desk with her head on the table with an apple blood juice box right beside her. She decided to distract herself by drinking.

Eda: I just... don't wanna hear him say it, you know? I was finally getting used to having people in the house, then whoosh! Rug's ripped out from underneath me.

The person Eda was the bartender.

Bartender: Sure. I get it. It's like every time you come in here, I think, "maybe she'll pay her tab this time".

This wasn't the help that Eda was looking for. She just glared at the bartender and started sipping on her juice pouch in anger. Suddenly she heard something that caught her attention/

"Hey! Back off!"

Eda looked over and saw two covered guards taking away a witch with purple hair.

"Don't fret, citizens! We are helping this wild witch find her place in society!"

tries to break free from them*" No! I don't want to join a coven! Let me go!"

Unable to break free, the guards carry the witch away from the bar. Eda watched the whole thing and the sight made her sick to her stomach. She had to do something about it.

Eda: *slams her juice box on the table* Throw it on my tab, Kevin.

Eda gets up and starts to leave the bar. She might not have the power to deal with the emperor himself, but she does have the power to save a wild witch.

Kevin: *groans* Of course.

Kevin pulls out a long sheet of paper that reaches down to the ground.

Eda: *slams the door open and points at the guards* Let her go!

notices her and waves her off* "Back off, Owl Lady."

"Yeah, no coven wants a powerless witch."

That comment seemed to strike Eda to the core. Once again she was reminded that she was a powerless witch, even worse it was by an emperor guard. Growling in anger, Eda ran up and punched the guard so hard, his face masked spinned around.

Eda: Hows that for powerless!?

Crowed: *sees what happened* Oooohh.

fixes his mask* Why you little!

The guard drew a blue circle and was about to fire a powerful spell at Eda. Not wanting them to take the wild witch away, Eda stood her ground and was determined to fight. But before anything could happen a sound echoed in the air causing the guards spell circle to vanish.

looks at his finger* "Huh? What just-"

Music started to play as the town started to glow. Everyone looked over and saw a group of masked people standing near the emperor's statue. One was playing tambourine, one was playing bassoon, one was playing a saxophone, and finally one was playing a cittern. Their magic started to levitate everything around them, even the small little nose person. Everyone looked at them and were amazed while the guards covered their ears.

Masked Leader: Look at the emperor lackeys! Trying to, uh... *struggles to say* Do I really have to say this?

Masked teammate #1: We all agreed on the script.

Masked Leader: *groans* Fine. *clears throat* Trying to... *blushes slightly* mute the music of our hearts?

The masked leader covered their faces as they were embarrassed to say that out loud. This didn't go unnoticed by Eda as she started at the leader.

Eda: *narrows her eyes* (Is that?)

Masked Leader: *regains composer* And weaken magic, by forcing witches and covens against their will.

insulted* "Blasphemy!"

Masked Leader: Blasphem-you!

Masked teammate #2: *cheers her leader* See, you're a natural!

Masked Leader: That's right, Bonesborough.

The masked leader pulls the string of their cittern, making the guards legs start to glow red. Suddenly the guards were forced to their knees.

Masked Leader: They take your magic.

They pulled another string forcing the guards on their feet.

Masked Leader: They restrict your knowledge.

Pulling another string, the guards start marching in place.

Masked Leader: They say to do it in the name of unity, but what they really want is control. You know what we say to that, folks? Shove off!

The group continue to play their music, making the guards march away from everyone. Suddenly the guards start to march right to a garbage can.

Guards: Stop! No, not the trash! Oh, not the trash!

The guards run into the trash getting it all over themselves. They both groan as they vanish from sight.

Tiny nose: *walks up to them with stars in her eyes* Who are you hewoes?

Masked Leader: We are the Bards Against the Throne, AKA...

Guard: Surrounded!

The group looked over and saw the same giant guard that Eda punched before.

Masked #1: *scoffs* Need another lesson, big guy?

Guard: Not really. Cause I came prepared.

Suddenly the guard pulled out some earmuffs and put them on his ears. More guards showed up and did the same.

Guard: You magic is useless if we can't hear it! Now arrest them!

"What!?"

Guard: Arrested them!

"WHAT!?"

Guard: *takes off the guards earmuffs* ARRESTED THEM!

"Ok ok!" *takes his earmuffs back* "Jeez. No need to shout. What are you, my mother?"

The guards slowly started to surround the group making it hard or impossible for them to escape. The group looked around and realized their chance of escape was slim to none. As all hope seemed lost they heard a sound below them.

?: Pst!

The group looked down and saw Eda underneath a manhole cover. Eda gestured to the group to follow her down the manhole. The group looked at each other and not having any other choice nodded their head to agree. One of the masked teammates blows on their bassoonist causing a giant smoke cloud. The guards went blind as they coughed heavily. Once the smoke cleared the group was gone.

Guard leader: *throws his earmuffs on the ground* Not again!

"... WHAT!?"

The guard just sighed heavily.

Scene cuts

The scene cuts over outside of the city to a sewer pipe. Inside of it Eda walks over and looks around to see if any of the guards had followed them. Once the coast was clear she let out a sigh of relief.

Eda: *pulls of one of the bars and signals the others to follow* End of the line, folks.

Seeing the coast was clear, the group stepped out of the sewer as Eda helped them down.

Eda: Word of advice. Next time you put on a performance like that, make sure you have an exit strategy.

Masked teammate #1: Thank you. How can we ever repay you?

Eda: *puts her hands together* Well, you could let me join your little team.

The group gasped and looked at each other and back at Eda. They all thought the witch was crazy for suggesting that.

Eda: Hey, I may not have magic, but I am an agent of chaos.

Masked Leader: *interrupts* Sorry, *turns her back away from Eda* But we're not accepting new members.

Eda: *narrows her eyes* Is that any way to treat an old friend, *grabs the leaders mask* Raine Whispers?

Eda flicks the mask off of the masked leader and indeed it was Raine Whispers. Raine looked over at Eda and glared at her for revealing who she was. They walked over at her and the two stared down, getting ready for a brawl.

Eda: Heh, So, the Head Witch of the Bard Coven likes pretending to be a rebel. Too bad they're not very good at it.

Raine glared at Eda for that comment. Now you would think she was going to punch or fight her... Buuuuut...

Raine: *blushes* Eda! You're embarrassing me in front of my crew.

They didn't. The group looked at the two of them confused on what was going on.

Raine: *sighs and faces their group* Hey, it's all right, everyone. *pats her shoulder* The Owl Lady is an old friend.

When Raine touched Eda's shoulder, the owl lady couldn't help but blush from her old friend's physical contact. Hearing that she was an old friend the group removed their masks revealing themselves. One of them was someone we have seen before from the time Eda and the others broke in to get King's crown.

Fanfic member: Nice to see you again.

The second one was an adolescent witch with brown eyes, dark brown skin, pointed ears, and dark brown hair that is styled in a short shag parted to the right side of his head.

Member #3: Is she going to join our group?

And finally the third one was a short, mauve-skinned humanoid demon with pale gray hair, freckles, and round silver eyes. She has traits similar to a bat, with large, almost bat-like ears with insides that are a darker version of her skin, a crooked nose, and black bat wings on her back. She has small, thick eyebrows the same color as her hair.

Member #2: *looks away skeptical* She doesn't seem like a good fit to me.

Seems like someone didn't really trust Eda all that well. Eda also didn't take it very well as she glared at the bat girl.

Raine: *reinsures the group* Actually, she's the one that inspired me to make the group.

Eda: *shocked* Wait what?

Raine: *rubs the back of their head* I-It was awhile ago...

Flashback

The scene changes to a peaceful field. In the middle of the field both Eda and Raine were in the middle. Though they appeared to be in their young adult years. Eda was seen wearing a red dress with ripped sleeves, a ripped maroon hem, and the same earrings and the red boots from her first outfit. She had her hair up in a ponytail with a red band, and at this point, she had started to develop gray hair, as two small streaks can be seen up near her forehead.

Raine was wearing an altered version of the BATs uniform: a long, black tunic with a maroon collar, gold trim, three gold buttons, a brown belt, crimson pants and black, knee-high boots.

Young Adult Eda: Raine... I know why you're really here.

Young Adult Raine: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Young Adult Eda: *skeptical* Uh-huh.

She knew Raine was here because they were stressed about something. While they were talking Eda burns a bolt over a cloud on the cittern she's holding.

Young Adult Raine: Who cares about a stupid performance? *looks at Eda with a love struck look* This is more fun.

Young Adult Eda: *giggles* Whatever you say.

Eda couldn't help but enjoy their little small talks. Raine noticed that Eda was putting her fingers in the wrong position on the cittern and helped her by guiding her hand up.

Young Adult Raine: See? you'd be a mess without me.

Realizing what they did, Raine removed their hand and started to blush. They tried to play it off with a fake cough but that didn't really work. While they were distracted, Eda couldn't help but smile from Raine's shyness. She couldn't help but find it cute.

Young Adult Eda: *looks at the cittern* Alright. "Raine's Rhapsody"

As Eda was playing the area around them started to glow. Not only that, some of the flowers started to float as well as Eda's hair. Raine couldn't help but get captured in her beauty.

Young Adult Eda: *while playing* You know, you can't run from your fears forever, which is why you've gotta get the jump on them. Give 'em a whack right in the face.

Raine looked at Eda and couldn't help but smile from her kind words.

Raine: I thought you were just joking around.

The scene changes to Raine inside one of the rooms in the emperor's castle. They were holding a stack of scrolls and throwing them on a nearby desk. They sat down and started reading through all of them and were horrified by what they read.

Raine: I only learned what it meant when I started teaching for the Bard Coven. The emperor prioritized recruitment through force. And anyone who refused to fall in line disappeared.

The young Raine was angered when they found out the truth of the emperor's coven. They bold up the scrolls and threw them up in the air.

Raine: Well, I wasn't going to stand for that!

End of Flashback

Raine: So I took matters into my own hands. I carefully moved up the ranks, and I found people who wanted to change things, like me. And that's when we formed the Bards Against the Throne, AKA...

Group: *does a pose* The BATs!

While they were talking they heard footsteps. The group all looked up and saw one of the emperor's guards shadow slowly approaching. Realizing it wasn't safe the group started to leave.

Raine: *stops* Hey... *extends their hand to Eda* If you've got nothing to lose, we could use the help.

Eda blushed from the gesture from their old friend. Right now she has a chance to make a difference and stand against the emperor. Smiling, she takes Raine's hand and starts to run off with them.

Cuts to the owl house

Currently Luz and King had their legs around Owlbert as they were doing push ups. Luke was watching and Hooty was helping King out while holding his tail with his mouth.

Luke: 97... 98... 99...

As Luz was trying to do one more her body gave out.

Flare*barks* Don't quit! Broken bones means you're getting stronger!

as she fell on the ground.

Luke: Oooooh so close.

Flare*barks* Swing and a miss.

Luz: *gets up and whips the sweat off* Whew! All right, King, the Gland Prix is the day after tomorrow. Are you ready?

King: I, uh, got the jitters.

Flare*barks* Aww don't worry. Think of them as small bugs you want to eat.

King: *chuckles and rubs Flares head* And I still haven't been able to talk to Eda.

Luz: Don't worry. She's just been busy this week.

Luke: Doing what exactly?

Luz just shrugged her shoulders. Lately the two have noticed Eda hasn't been around for awhile. They tried to ask her what she's been up to but the only response they got was super important stuff. Luz believed her while Luke believed she was trying to rob/scam someone.

Hooty: Aww don't worry King, *rubs his face on King* you always have uncle Hooty to lean on.

Luke: That is concerning.

King: *runs away* You don't have any shoulders!

Hooty: *chases after him* Lean on me!

Flare*barks* Tag! *runs after them* Loser has to cook!

Both Luz and Luke just watched as the chaos plays out. Suddenly the group heard the front door open and saw Eda walking out with a cap around her and scrolls in her arm.

Luz: *rides on Owlbert* Eda! King's still waiting to talk to you.

Luke: *walks beside her* It's very important.

Eda: *still walking* Uh, maybe later. I'm very busy.

Luke: *raises his eyebrow* Doing what?

Eda: Super important grown up stuff that people like... *points to Luz* You wouldn't understand.

Luz: Wait how come- Ooooh right.

Luke: *facepalms* Why am I getting singled out? There are plenty of teenagers that have done what I've done.

Luz: *gets off owlbert* Well, maybe at the Gland Prix?

Eda: *walks away* I'll be there. I promise!

Luke: Better not break the promise!

Luz: I'm surprised you're not going after her.

Luke: Well unlike you two she's... Somewhat more competent.

Luz: *smiles* Yea thats tr- *realizes what he said and offended* HEY!

Luke: And beside I-

Viney: *walks up to them* Hey guys.

Luke: *sighs* I have to make it up to someone.

Luz: Viney? What are you doing here?

Viney: Wellll... *smiles at Luke* A certain someone has to make up for something.

Luke: It was an accident and I said I was sorry.

Luz: What uhh... What exactly happened?

Luke: *sighs* Remember when I took a shower after King's barf fest.

Flashback

After that little barf session from King, Luke decided to take his mind off by walking around town. Nights were beside him trying to keep him company.

Luke: *sighs* Nothing like a nice walk, *looks at Nights* Right Nights?

The Nightfury lets out a bark as Luke chuckles. As the two continue to walk, Luke fails to notice that he stepped on something. Whatever it was made a screech and knocked Luke into a nearby wall.

Luke: Ow...

Nights ran over to Luke making sure he was ok. As the half demon slowly got up he got a good look on what knocked him over. It was a griffon with wings.

Luke: (Wait isn't that-)

Before Luke could comment someone ran up to the griffin, stopping it from attacking Luke.

Viney: Puddles! No! Down girl!

Luke: Viney!

Viney: *noticed Luke* Oh Hey! Luke! Sorry about! Puddles! No, don't claw mama!

Viney: And to make it up to me he has to spend the week with me.

Luke: I still don't understand how that works.

Viney: You hurt mommas baby, *pokes his chest* You deal with momma bear.

Luke:... Fair enough

Suddenly Nights came out of the shadow and started rubbing his head on Viney's leg.

Viney: *giggles* Aww *rubs his head* You've grown so much Nights.

Night chirped from Viney's touch.

Luz: Oooh I get it now.

Luke: The hell were you thinking?

Luz: *blushes slightly* Nothing.

Luke/Viney/Nights: Pervert.

Luz: *insulted* Oh come on!

Luke: Anyway, how exactly are you going to help us?

Viney: Simple, puddles can help you guys out.

Luke: She isn't still mad right?

Viney: *eyes widen a bit* Uhhhhh..

Suddenly a loud screech was heard. The group looked over and saw Puddles flying in the sky. She looked around and saw Luke and glared angry at him.

Luke: Oooooh no...

Puddles let out a screech and went to attack Luke. Seems like the griffin hasn't forgotten him stepping on her tail. Summoning his wings Luke dodges a claw shot from the griffen. Seeing her prey escaping Puddles flew after the half demon.

Luke: Titan Damn it! Why me!?

Viney: Careful sweaty! Don't claw his eyes! Or his lower area!

Luke: *offscreen* Why that specifically!?

Luz: Hey Luke! Try to hold Puddles up there for a little longer! This will be good practice!

Luke: *offscreen* I think you are forgetting that my life is in danger!

Demon: Oh come on. You have survived worse than an oversize griffon.

Luke: Who's side are you on anyway!?

Demon: As a wise man once said: Would you believe me if I said no ones?

Luke just growled as he continued to fly away dodging multiple claw swipes from the griffon.

With Y/N

Both Y/N and Aerith were sitting down at a nearby park.

Aerith: Soooo, having girl issues?

Y/N: *blushes a bit* Uhh yea. Is it that obvious?

Aerith: *giggles* A little. So what seems to be the problem?

Y/N: *sighs heavily* It's just... Both the girls I really love told me they loved me...

Aerith: *nudges him* Look at you.

Y/N: *blushes more* A-Anyway... I just *sighs* Don't know what I should do next. I love both of them so much... I just can't bare the risk of choosing one over the other.

As Aerith listen to the dragon slayers problem, she couldn't help but remember a similar situation like this.

Aerith: Maybe this will help you out a little... A long time ago, back when I was a girl I met a boy, who dreamed of becoming a soldier.

A little Aerith was seen walking around the town of Gongaga at night. She heard a sound that caught her attention. Curious, the young Aerith walked over and saw a young black haired boy swinging a wooden sword. The boy was Zack Strife. Zack appeared to be swinging the sword almost all day, due to the injuries on his hands and the sweat coming down from his body. The boy noticed Aerith staring and turned towards her. Aerith smiled and waved as the boy waved back.

Aerith: At the time we started off as really good friends, and slowly it became something more

A young Zack and Aerith were running through a flower field. The two would chuckle and laugh as they laid down and enjoyed the sunset. Aerith would sigh lovingly as she looked at the young soldier. His hair would flow in the wind, as he smiled brightly. The young flower girl couldn't help but smile and blush from seeing him

Aerith: Zack didn't really know what he truly wanted to use his magic for, so to figure it out he decided to go to Hexside. I was sad when he left but supported his decision. He promised that he would come and visit when he could.

A teen version of Igneel and Zack was getting ready to set off to Hexside academy. Aerith and Zack's parents were there to see them off. Aerith looked down sadly wishing she could go with him, though Zack walked over to her and promised to see her again. Aerith looked up at him and smiled.

Aerith: When he came back... I realized..

Zack: Aerith, this is my friend Lilith.

As both the teen Lilith and teen Zack looked at each other, a thought came.

Teen Aerith/Lilith: (For some reason, I don't want to lose to her.)

Aerith: I had a little competition.

Y/N: *chuckles nervously* I-I see.

Aerith: But me and Lilith still became good friends... When Zack wasn't around.

Y/N: So what happened then?

Aerith: ... I realized something else.

A Teen Zack and Lilith were training in the backyard, with Aerith and Zack's parents watching. As Aerith watched the two fight, she noticed that the more they fought against one another, the more they started to improve. She couldn't help but feel saddened by this.

Aerith: The more I saw Zack and Lilith together... The more I realized that they were perfect for each other.

Y/N: B-But didn't you love Zack?

Aerith: With all my heart... However... To me love is both you and your other becoming better people than you were before... You help the other achieve their goals... I... I couldn't do that for Zack... The best I could do was lift him up when he was down... It wasn't bad... It just didn't feel like enough... So I..

A Teen Aerith and Zack were standing near the same flower field they used to play on as kids. Zack looked at Aerith in shock as Aerith gave Zack a sad smile. This was the day she had told him to promise her that he wouldn't fall in love with her.

Y/N: Y-You gave up...

Aerith: And I regret it to this day... I wish I didn't say that back then... Then maybe... Maybe...

Aerith slowly started to tear up as she recalled the memories she shared with her first love.

Aerith: *wipes the tears away* S-Sorry about that..

Y/N: N-No no. I should be apologizing.

Aerith: *breaths out* What I'm trying to say is Y/N, you shouldn't keep running away from love. Love is very unpredictable and it can be scary. It has many possibilities. Maybe you'll end up with one of them and hurt the other, or maybe you'll end up with both of them and you can all help each other... But if you keep doing what you're doing, there is a chance that you will end up with neither of them.

Y/N looked down sadly. Hurting one of them was painful enough, but to have neither of them was even worse.

Aerith: *puts her hand on his shoulder* Never live with regrets.

Y/N looked at the flower woman and saw all the regrets and choices she made. He nodded his head which made Aerith smile.

With Eda

The scene changes to the BAT'S base. In the center of their base was a huge table with cushions on the floor. On the wall was a window that was blocked off by bricks and on the other wall was a map.

Eda: *throws down the scrolls* Well, there you have it. Homemade maps of every nook and cranny in the city.

While Eda was talking the bat girl glared at her. She still wasn't convinced that she could be trusted.

Raine: Okay. Here's the situation. Emperor Belos wants every wild witch in a coven before the Day of Unity.

Derwin: *leaning on the wall* He's trying to steal as much magic as possible. We don't know why.

Raine: Right now, we're just focused on helping those he's captured. And the next raids take place *points at X's in the map* here, here and here.

Katya: At the same time? What do we do?

Katya did bring up a good point. The group lacked the manpower to stop multiple raids at once. Trying to take down a group of emperor guards would be succide. However, a certain Owl lady had an idea.

Eda: Don't worry, kids. Mama's got a plan.

Amber: You're not our mom!

Scene change

It was nighttime at boonsboro and currently a group of emperors coven scouts has captured a bunch of wild witches. Some of them were currently loading them into the cart, while others were keeping guard for those who would dare try to save them. Unknown to them, Amber was watching from behind the pillar with her flute in her hand. She thinked about the owl lady's plan and thought it was insane. However, she couldn't stand by and watch innocent witches be taken away. The girl started playing her flute. The music from her float put the driver and some of the guard members to sleep.

Guards: What the?

Guard #2: Where is that music coming from!?

Guard #3: Quick call for-

Before he could finish they heard the sound of a tambourine and a bassoon. The three looked up and saw Derwin and Katya playing.

Katya: What's the matter, emperor guards?

Derwin: Don't like good music?

Guard #1: *growls* Get them!

Both Derwin and Katya jumped down and started running away while the emperor's guards gave chase.

Guard Captain: Alright that's it!

Suddenly blue magic arms formed around the Captain's hands as he got into a stance.

Guard Captain: Come out! Show yourself! Fight me like a warrior!

Suddenly the captain's cap wrapped around him. He tried to break free but struggled to.

Guard Captain: Damn! You! Once I! Break out! Of this! I'll have! You're-

Suddenly the captain was hit in the back of the neck. He ends up falling on the ground getting knocked out. His attackers were both Raine and Eda. The two looked at each other and smiled. Eda ran over to the van and opened the door. Inside were a bunch of wild witches wearing cloaks that were scared.

Eda: Hey it's ok. *holds out her hand* You're safe now.

The witches were hesitant for a second.

"W-Who are you?"

Eda: Someone who wants to see you all have a bright future.

The wild witches looked at Eda in shock. Soon one of them grabbed their hand as Eda guided them out.

The scene changes to the same sewer pipe Eda used to save Raine and the others. The group lead the wild witches outside the city. The wild witches looked around and couldn't believe that they were saved.

"Thank you."

Derwin: *smiles* Don't mention it.

The witches begin to leave as the scene cuts over to Raine and Eda, who were watching from up top. The two were happy that their plan worked and the wild witches were free again. Suddenly the two looked at each other and looked away as a clear blush appeared on both their faces. Seems like saving witches wasn't the only thing that was happening.

BATS hideout

After a long night of rescuing wild witches, the group made it back to the hideout with tired looks on their faces. Though their plan was successful they did spend all night saving them, meaning their bodies were tired.

Eda: *groans* I can't believe it's already morning.

Amber: I'm not tired yet.

Katya: *groans tiredly* Amber, you've gotta calm down.

Both Eda and Raine chuckled from Amber and Katya banners while Derwin was fast asleep. The group made it inside the hideout.

Amber: We did it! Eda, you're amazing!

Katya: We actually helped people this time.

Katya layed Derwin down and laid beside him as she drifted to sleep. Amber, who was too excited to sleep, began to walk around, while the leader, Raine, decided to lay down on some cushions. They were happy that they finally stood a chance to fight against the Emperor and his rule.

Eda: *walks up to Raine* Rainestorm.

Raine: *opens their eyes and chuckle* Haven't heard that in a minute.

Eda: *takes off her cowl* Oh, you've gotten so strong. It's incredible. *chuckles* But how'd you become Head Bard with your stage fright?

Raine: *closes her eyes with a smirk* I'm just that good. *looks at Eda* What about you? Do you still know any Bard spells?

Eda: *eyes widen and looks away* Well, you remember the curse. It messes with my magic.

Raine wasn't too convinced by this. So they drew a circle and a cittern appeared in Eda's hands. Eda looked over at Raine in shock.

Raine: *smirks* How'd you become the Owl Lady with your stage fright?

Eda couldn't help but look away with an embarrassed blush. Who would have believed after all these years they were able to tease her back. Knowing there was no way out, Eda decided to play for Raine.

Eda: *sighs* All right. *smirks* You asked for this.

Slowly Eda began to play on the cittern. Just like all the other times she played everything around her even her hair started to float. However, just like before the scrolls and maps started to turn back and began to corrode.

Raine sets up in shock to see everything that was going on. Suddenly the candle lights started to turn black and white and Raine's right earring started to corrode as well. Eda eventually stopped playing and looked at the damage she had done. With a heavy sigh she looked over at Raine who was looking at their corroded earring.

Eda: *plays it off with a chuckle and snort* Ha! "Raine's Rhapsody". More like "Eda's Requiem", am I right? I-I'll leave the playing to the professionals.

Eda hands Raine the cittern and begins to walk away. But before she walked away there was a question that was on her mind.

Eda:... Hey Raine?

Raine: Yea?

Eda:... By any chance... Have you seen or heard anything about Igneel?

Raine looked at Eda for a second.

Raine: I... Haven't seen him in years.

Eda: I see... *plays off her sad tone with a smile* Welp *walks out* Call me if you need me.

Amber: *appears and waves* Bye Mama Eda!

After Eda leaves Raine gets up and sets the Cittern down on the table. They looked at the damage Eda's playing caused and started to think. If something like these could affect inanimate objects, then what could it do if it was used on a person? As they were thinking about this, Raine remembered Eda asking about Igneel. They brought an old member to the ex Barth coven head.

Flashback

A teen Raine was near a forest getting picked on by a couple of bullies.

"What's wrong Whispers? Why don't you play a little song for us?"

The group started laughing as Raine looked away embarrassed. They always hated when people picked on them when they played their music.

?: You know...

Everyone looked up and saw Igneel sitting on a nearby tree branch, reading a book.

Igneel: I'm trying to read here, *closes his book* So if you don't leave *jumps down with his eyes glowing red* I will burn you to ash.

Scared of the dragon slayers glare, the bullies ran for their lives. Igneel lets out a sigh.

Raine: U-Umm.. Thanks Igneel...

Igneel looked at Raine. He chops their head making them wince in pain.

Raine: Owww.. What was that for?

Igneel: You need to stop letting people walk all over you. Try to have some confidence.

Raine: *sighs saldy* Easier said than done.

Igneel looked at Raine for a second and let out a sigh. He then pulls something out of his pocket.

Igneel: Here.

Raine looked down and saw a black necklace with a green orb in the middle.

Raine: *takes it* What's this?

Igneel: Think of it as a way to help build your confidence a bit. Whenever you're in trouble, look at that.

Raine stared at the necklace Igneel had given them.

Raine: *with a sad tone* Igneel...

The Gland Pix

The scene cuts over to an edge of a clift. In the front were multiple students ready to compete in it. Around them were seats full of crowds ready to watch. Luz was currently wearing the same outfit that she wore back when she played Grudgby against Boscha. Beside her was King and in front of her was Viney and Luke.

Viney: Alright, remember your training and you two will win this.

Luz: *nods her head* Got it!

Luke: *covered in feathers* I feel like I'm the one who did most of the training.

Viney: Oh come on I said I was sorry! Besides, at least Nights calmed Puddles down.

The group looked over and saw Nights and Puddles sleeping together. Puddles had her arms around Nights while the Nightfurry was enjoying the presents of the griffin.

Viney: Awwww~ Aren't they so cute?~

Luz: They are aren't they?~

Luke: (Why?) *notices Eda walking over* Looks like teach is back.

Luz looked over and saw Eda waving at the group.

Luz: *runs over and hugs her* Eda! I'm so glad you made it!

The rest of the group walked over.

King: *holding Owlbert* I, uh, would really like *hands Luz Owlbert* to tell you something before the race starts.

Eda: *kneels down* Well, if it's so important, we can talk about it after the race... when you win, okay?

Eda still didn't want King to tell her that he was ready to move out. It was still something she was trying to avoid.

King: Uh, yeah, yeah. Okay.

Suddenly Both Gus and Perry walked over to the center of the stage, where a giant crystal ball was.

Perry: Welcome, everyone, to the Gland Prix!

To give more flair, Gus conjures up the event on the crystal. A flag appeared with the words Grand Prix on it making the crowd cheer.

Perry: Contestants will fly down the right arm to the Cubital Valley. They use speed, cunning, and magic, to race to the checkpoint and back to the finish line! Winners get their names etched on the Cup of Ephemeral Glory!

The victory cup looked like a bunch of flesh parts together... With a face in the middle.

Victory cup: *Groaning* All victory is fleeting.

Luke:... That's deeply disturbing.

Flare*barks* I wonder what it tastes like?

Perry: And, an on-camera interview, seen by everyone watching across the Isles!

Luz: *looks over at King* Ready King?

King: I'm uhh a little nervous.

Viney: *rubs his shoulder* You'll do fine.

Flare*bark* And if someone gets in your way, bite their faces off.

Everyone but Luz and King went over to the stance and watched both Luz and King.

Perry: On your marks,

Luz gets on Owlbert with King on her back. Around her were many other witches getting ready to start.

Perry: Get set—

The cup let out a loud yell. All the races took off.

Viney: You're more supported than ever.

Luke: Let's just say I've been through a lot..

Viney: *giggles* I guess I like this new you~

Luke: *shivers* Teach help. *does not get a response* Teach?

Luke looked over and saw Eda was gone. He raised his eyebrow wondering where she went off to.

Cuts to a forest

Eda was with the BATS following a tip they got about more wild witches being sent to the emperor. Raine didn't want to bother Eda, but Eda reassured her that she wasn't busy and that she could help out. Which was a lie. The group continued to walk around and jumped over a broken bridge. However, Raine looked around and noticed something was off.

Eda: *looks over and noticed Raine looking around* Raine? What's wrong?

Raine: *looks around* This should be the spot.

Raine draws a circle and plays a note on her cittern sending a giant wave of magic energy around the area. This made the ground shake a bit and the leaves on the trees move. Suddenly everything goes silent making Raine even more worried. That blast should have at least alerted the guards that they were here, but there wasn't any.

Raine: Nobody is here... Something isn't right.

Suddenly an abomination goo surrounded the BAT's members. The group tried to get away but was trapped inside of it. Eda was going to help them but Raine pulled her away and hid somewhere safe. More abomination goo started to appear a few feet away from the group taking the shape of a person. He was a tall, muscular man with dark brown skin, bright green eyes, and abomination-like hair. He has an amorphous hair bun with an abomination's eye, and similarly amorphous sideburns and a goatee. He also has an abomination sigil on his right arm. He was wearing a black chest plate with a gold collar, purple studs and pointed shoulders, light purple pants, white mid-length gloves, and white-heeled boots with violet toes. He also wears a magenta side cape with violet details at the edges on the left side of his body.

Abomination man: *smirks*That... feels... *raises his fist* better.

A loud sound was heard and something was digging underground making it's way beside the abomination man. The thing shot out of the ground and landed beside the man. It looked like a child-sized bestial humanoid. He has a wild mane of auburn hair tied in a big, fluffy ponytail using a yellow, frayed band. His body is covered with orange fur, with some unkempt spots on his cheeks and elbows. His eyes have yellow sclera with magenta irises and slit pupils, and he has two pointed ears similar in shape to a cat's. He wears a sage-green sleeveless shirt, a dull brown loincloth in the likeness of a hand or paw with light gray claws, and a pair of dark brown boots with gray soles. He also wears a pair of spiked yellow arm bracers.

Abomination man: Looks like we missed a few.

Raine: *recognizes who they are and gaps* It's Head Witches Eberwolf and Darius.

Eda: So that means...

Raine: We fell for their trap.

Cuts to Luz

Meanwhile, the race was still going on. Currently some of the students were flying closer to the goal point. However, Luz and King appeared, using an invisibility glyph, shocking some of the students as they lost balance and flew in the opposite direction.

King: Haha! Saint Epiderm? More like Stank Epiderm!

Flare*bark* I get it!

As Luz continued to fly closer to the goal point, another student was high on her tail. The two looked at each other with a glare as they both approached it fast. One of the students knew that wouldn't be able to make the turn with the speed she was going, and decided to slow down.

King: Uhh Luz? Might want to slow down!

Luz ignored King and continued to speed up.

King: *covers his eyes* WE'RE GOING TO CRASH!

But instead of crashing, Luz flies through the goalpost, pulls out a glyph, and slams it on the post. The glyph activates and creates a vine, and Luz uses it as a slingshot to shoot them back around. She passed by many students that still had to round the goalpoint, as they looked at the human girl in pure shock. The crowd cheered as principal Bump looked at the other principles with a smirk.

Viney: Nice one!

Luke: *claps* Got to say it was very impressive.

Though Luke couldn't help but wonder what happened to Eda.

Cuts to Eda

Things were looking dyer. The group ended up falling for Darius and Eberwolf trap and both Eda and Raine were forced to watch their teammates getting captured. They could handle small emperors scouts but to take on headmasters is a different story.

Darius: *looks at the ground in disgusted* This place is disgusting. Figure out which one's the turncloak so we can leave.

Eberwolf saluted and began to crawl up and sniffed all of the BATS. Since he was the head of the beast keeper covenant he could figure out who is the leader based on their scent. As the humanoid child continued to sniff them, he realized none of them were the turncloak. He looks at Darius and shakes his head.

Darius: *pinches between his eyes and sighs* Just my luck.

Great no he has to go around this muddy place and search for the traitor. But he knew that if he left the capture BATS alone, the traitor would come and rescue them. Making him do more work. Avoiding that, Darius snapped his sending the group high in the air and dipping them into the abomination goo. The BATS vanished from the place as both Eda and Raine looked at the scene in horror.

Prison

The scene opens up to one of the conformatorium cells. A bright purple light shone in the cell as the B.A.T.S members fell from the ceiling. They groaned in pain as they looked around.

Katya: No! *grabs the bars* Not again!

Woods

Darius: *walks at the edge of the bridge* I was scheduled for some me time today, so hand yourself over before things get nasty.

Both Eda and Raine ducked behind the rock. They don't know for sure if they could beat two headmasters but they would rather try then give up.

Darius: *groans annoyed* I know they can hear me! *shouts* I know you can hear me! *looks at Eberwolf* Eber, help me out here.

Eberwolf closes his eyes and draws a circle on his forehead. Once it was complete he opened his eyes as they began to glow. Suddenly a beam shot out and he used it to find the traitor. As he looked around he saw footsteps leading deeper into the forest.

Darius: *sees it and looks disgusted* I'm not going in there.

Seems someone is a clean freak. This wasn't Eberwolf's first time he had to deal with his partner's whining, That's why he knew just the thing to get Darius to cooperate. Eberwolf started digging in the ground throwing dirt at Darius. Lucky he was able to dodge it but he looked at Eberwolf annoyed.

Darius: What do you think you're-

Before he could finish Eberwolf started crawling all over Darius. As Darius tries to get him off, Eberwolf jumps off and starts following the footsteps.

Darius: You'll regret that, mutt.

Darius turns himself into an abomination goo and starts chasing after his partner.

[ I love this duo.]

Unknown to them Eda and Raine appeared standing on a tree branch. Well Raine was standing, and Eda was being carried by them. They used an invisibility glyph to hide and used Eda's heels to make footprints to get them away.

Eda: I am glad I remembered how to do that.

The glyph started to disintegrate into the air. The two jumped down to the ground and started to think of a plan.

Eda: Ooh, gross.

Raine: Eda, Belos' plans are a lot more dangerous than I let on. He's preparing some big spell for the Day of Unity, but he can't do it without every head witch. If we can take out Darius and Eberwolf...

Eda: *smiles* Say no more, Rainestorm. What's the plan?

Suddenly Raine summoned a Cittern in Eda's hands. Eda looks at it and then back at Raine.

Raine: You say your curse messes with magic. I think I can make that work in our favor.

The plan was simple; use Eda's curse in order to kill both Darius and Eberwolf, and stop the Emperor's plan... However, there was one major thing Raine didn't mention.

The scene cut over to Eberwolf and Darius still following the footprints. Soon as they caught up they saw the footprints were being made by Eda's boots.

Darius: *appears beside Eberwolf* Looks like our traitor is a clever little songbird.

The boots kick mud all over Darius' face and clothes. As Eberwolf was going to laugh, there was one thing he knew about his partner and that is; he hates getting dirty. Eberwolf's face went pale as he let out a whimper as his partner raised his arm and summoned abomination spikes ribbing the boots to shreds.

Darius: *walks over to the edge of the bridge* All right... NO MORE PLAYING AROUND!

Darius looked up into the sky and closed his eyes. Once he opens them his eyes become full black and green circles. Slowly his body started to change into a giant abomination, with eyes around his lower area, chest, hair, and feet. He summons a giant sword and swings it down, slicing a tree in half.

Eberwolf smiles now knowing it's time to get serious. Slowly the humanoid body also began to change. His teeth become sharp as well as his finger nails and tone nails. Eberwolf lets out a vicious roar, jumps off of Darius's head, and draws a giant circle. Out of the circle came a giant rat-worm. The rat-worm appeared to be half blind with multiple scars around its body and a chain around its neck. It lets out a terrifying roar and begins to move around searching for the traitor.

Both Eda and Raine looked around and noticed the two were dead sent on wanted to kill them. This meant their plan needed to happen now. However, the two got really close to each other and started to blush a bit. Looking away the two knew it wasn't the time for that. So Raine summons their instruments and hands the cittern to Eda. Eda takes it and looks at Raine if they were ready. Raine nodded their head and the two began to play.

[Song used: Raine's Rhapsody Full Music]

As the two continued to play, the area around them started to shine. The two were enjoying the time so much, scenes of their past lives started to play in their heads. However, it soon was coming to an end when Eda's curse started to activate. Her gem started to glow black as everything around them started to corrode. It slowly started to spread making its way to Eberwolf. Eberwolf looked over and saw that the corrosion started to affect her worm. They both let out a frightened and painful shrek.

Meanwhile, Darius continues to look for the traitor. He smashed and sliced around everything in his path.

Darius:Where are- *hears music* Huh?

Darius looked over to the direction the music was coming from and saw the corrosion heading for him. However, the only thing on his mind was dealing with the traitor.

Darius*smirks* There you ar-

Suddenly the corrosion made its way all over Darius's body leaving his head intact. Darius let out a pain yell as he fell down onto the ground as the corrosion began to burn his body.

Eda: *sees the events* It's working. Keep playing.

Raine looked down and noticed that the corrosion was not only affecting everything around them but them as well. She saw that it slowly was making its way up their bodies.

Raine: Look. We may not make it out ourselves.

That was the downside of this plan. If the two were planning to kill both Darius and Eberwolf they had to be willing to end up dead themselfs.

Eda: But it'll stop the emperor, right?

Raine nodes their head.

Eda: Then we play on.

To Eda this was about stopping the emperor. If she couldn't take him on herself, then the least she can do is stop his plan, no matter the sacrifices. However she was lying to herself. In truth she didn't want to die... Because... As she tried to ride those thoughts out of her head she turned away, not noticing the picture she took with Y/N and the others fell out of her hair. Raine sees the picture, stops playing, and looks down at the picture.

Raine: Eda, do you have kids?!

Eda stops playing and looks at Raine in shock. How did she know about that!? She turns around and sees the picture that fell out of her head.

Eda: *voice creaks* Uh, they're not mine-mine. Well, it doesn't matter. They all have real families to return to. Well two does and well.. Ugh! It doesn't matter!

Eda returns back to playing. Raine however looks at Eda and sees that she is hurting. From the sound of it she must really love them and the thought of losing them hurts her even more. Raine was about to summon a spell, however something came flying at Eda. It appeared to be a fireball. The fireball blasts the cittern out of Eda's hands causing the owl lady to fall on the ground.

Raine: Eda!

Raine ran over to Eda and helped her up. Slowly the corroded ground around them started to disappear returning the woods back to normal.

Raine: Are you ok?

Eda: *holds her head* Ughhh *sigh* No, not really.

Raine: Eda... What's really going on?

Eda: *sits up and sighs* I'm sorry Raine. I really did want to help you and to help stop the emperor... But I was also avoiding them.

Raine: But why?

Eda: Eventually they all are going to leave me and then... I'll end up alone again.

Raine: As a great witch once told me... *starts to get embarrassed* something about punching fears in the face?

Eda: Uhhh what?

Yea these kinds of motivational speeches aren't Raine's thing.

Raine: What I'm trying to say is don't give up so easily. [Hands Eda back the photo.] They probably need you more than you realize. [Lends their hand to her; she takes it.] We can find another way to stop Belos together.

But they do their best with them. Eda was touched by Raine's words and knew she was right. Dying here and now won't solve her problems. They'll find a way to defeat Belos and they will do it as a family.

Raine: By the way, that boy in the f/c hair looked familiar.

Eda: Yea *rubs the back of her head* That's Igneels son.

Raine: *shocked* Igneels son!?

Eda: Not mine! But I do love him as my own.

The two looked at the picture and stared at Y/N.

Raine: *smiles* I hope I can meet him someday.

Eda: *giggles* I'm sure you two will get along just fine.

As the two start to laugh, the moment was interrupted when abomination goo surrounded the two of them. The two had completely forgotten that Darius and Eberwolf were still after them, and now they were being dragged to them.

Darius*grins evilly* Found you, songbird.

As the two continue to get dragged, Eda was able grab onto a nearby branch with one hand and held Raine in the other. However, she didn't have enough strength to hold on for long. Raine knew these and gave Eda a kind smile.

Eda: *tears up Raine! Don't!

Raine: *smiles* Go. You know I can't stand an audience.

With those last words Raine let go of Eda's hand and was dragged towards Darius and Eberwolf.

Eda: *tears fall down* RAINE!

As Raine was getting pulled to Darius and Eberwolf, she summoned her violin and played a note slicing off Darius's hand. The abomination covent head retracted his arm and lets out a painful cry.

Raine: *lands on the ground and smirks at the two* Hello, Darius. Eber.

Darius: *heals his arms and glares*Raine Whispers. You'll regret what you did to my cloak!

Eberwolf: -_-*growls* Their treachery!

Darius*rolls his eyes*And your treachery, whatever.

The two began to attack Raine as Raine glared at them. They might be going down, but they ain't going down without a fight.

Meanwhile, Eda jumped down from the bench. She heard the sounds of their battle and looked away with tears falling from her eyes. She wanted to go back and help, but in her current condition she would only be a burden. With a heavy heart Eda took Raine's advice and went back to her family. But on that day she swore she would go back to save her love.

Back at the Race

Eda made it back to the race. She pants heavily and whips the reminding tears off her face.

?: There you are.

Eda jumped a bit and looked over and saw Luke with his hands in his pockets.

Luke: I was worried about you. *walks up to her* Where have you been?

Eda: Well I uhh..

Eda didn't know rather to lie to him or to tell him the truth.

Luke: *notices Eda's expression and sighs* It's alright. *pats her back* You can tell me when you're ready. After all *smiles* We're family aren't we?

Eda looks at him in shock. She couldn't believe he said that. She couldn't help but smile and nod her head.

Peter: Luz of Hexside and Ukula of Glandus are barreling towards the finish line!

The two looked up and saw Luz and King neck and neck against Ukula. They were coming closer and closer to the finished line. They both looked neck and neck until...

Peter: And there you have it!

Luz was able to make it with Owlbert touching the finish line first.

Peter: Luz over Ukula!

Eda began to clap and cheer as well as the crowd. She was happy to know that Luz and King were able to win.

Luke: Wait for it...

Peter: For fifth place.

Eda: Wait wha?

Suddenly the real three way winners began to come up on stage.

Peter: And now, let's give a hearty applause to our actual winner!

Eda: But *looks at Luke* I thought

Luke points his thumb behind him. Eda turns over and sees Luz and King covered in mud and dirt.

Luz: Hey, Eda.

Eda: You were flying like the dang wind. What happened?

Luke: Weellll...

Flashback

The scene cuts to both Luz and King flying fast to the finished line, with the rest of the students behind them. It seemed victory was theirs... Until..

King: *holds the staff tight and groans* Ugghh.. Luz I don't...

Luz: *trying to concentrate* King! Try to hold it!

King: *groans* I-I can't!

Luz: KING!

The next thing that was heard was King vomiting. The crowd let out a groan of discomfort.

Viney: That's disgusting.

Luke: Tell me about it.

Flare:*barks and runs after it* Free food!

Viney: *runs after Flare* Flare! No!

Luke: *starts to walk away* I'll let you handle him.

End of Flashback

Luke: And that's what happened.

Viney: *comes out with branches in her hair* Huff! Ok! I finally manage to calm Flare down.

Flare was now sleeping peacefully in Vineys arms.

Flare*chirps* Hmmmm~ Vomit pies~ *smacks his lips*

King: It's ok *pulls out his letter* I'll just throw my message into the garbage where it belongs.

Luke, Luz, and Viney comfort King. Eda looked at them sadly. She knew how much this race meant to King and all she could think about was herself. Well not anymore.

Eda: No, *pulls her scroll out of her hair* this isn't over.

The scene cuts to the camera of Eda's scroll. In the live stream was King, who looked very confused.

King: Eda, who's even gonna watch this?

Eda: No one watches crystal balls anymore. It's all about streaming.

Viney: She does have a point.

Luke: Just say what you need to say.

Luz: And be confident.

King: *sighs* All right. *clears his throat* Hi, Dad. If you're out there watching this, I uh, want to introduce myself.

While King thought everyone wasn't going to see this he was wrong. Right now everyone was watching him talk. Cut over to Willow on her bed watching.

King: I like cheesy foods and conquering kingdoms. Though I haven't conquered any of my own yet.

Cuts over to Emira, Edric, and Amity watching on Amity's scroll.

King: But maybe you have, and we can compare notes.

Cuts over to a random part of the Isles. A tall fellow that looked similar to King that had wings on his back was watching the live stream on his scroll

King: I'd love to meet you. We could do parent kid stuff, toss a ball, burn some cookies, catch me going on weird websites or something. Also, *shows his collar* I found a symbol in the tower I hatched in.

The figure looked up into the sky. It he appeared to be an older version of King. The figured looked up in the sky wonder if he would ever get the chance to met him.

King: Maybe you can teach me to read it.

Back to the field

King: I live with my favorite human and a cranky old witch.

Eda: *offscreen* Hey!

Luke snickers in the background.

King: A moody half human.

Luke: Hey!

Luz, Viney, and Eda snickers.

Cuts over to Y/N watching on Aerith's crystal ball

King: And the son of a King

Y/N smiles from King's words.

King: Who is terrible at expressing his feelings.

Y/N: *blushes* HEY!

Aerith: *giggles* He does have a point.

Y/N pouts from the comment.

Back to the field

King: But I still love them all the same.

Luz: Awww~

King: But the witch may be cranky, she's the one who raised me, which is why I am le... *Pulls out a stack of papers* ..gally changing my name to King Clawthorne! *Laughs* Surprise, Eda! Now we're connected for life, and there's nothing you can do about it!

Eda: *pure shock* I-Is that what you wanted to tell me this whole time?

Luke: *nods his head* Yep.

Luz: *pulls out a pen* And, if you sign here, it will be official.

Viney: Congratulations on the new son.

Luke: *claps his hands* You're an official mother now.

Eda couldn't believe this. This whole time she thought he was going to leave her, but instead he was actually trying to be her legal son. Tears started to fall from her eyes as she couldn't hold it in anymore.

Luz: Whoa. Eda are you ok?

Eda: *crying tears of joy* I-I'm not crying. M-My eyes are just sweaty.

Luke: Uhhh..

Back at the destroyed bridge

The area was completely destroyed. Some of the ground was burnt off, trees were cut off, and dirt and derby was everywhere. Sitting on the bridge, Eberwolf was watching the live stream on his scroll. He was too busy enjoying the fact that the owl lady has officially become a mother. The scene cuts over to Raine who was hanging upside down trapped in abomination goo. They lost the fight and now we're being held for questioning.

Luz: Eda, if you keep doing that, *Starts to cry as well* I'm gonna cry too! *Both Eda and Luz

burst out crying*

Luke: Oh Titan damn it Luz!

Darius: *looks at Eberwolf* Would you shut that off? We're supposed to be tormenting Raine, not me.

Eberwolf ignored Darius and decided to turn up the volume on the scroll even more. The sound of Eda's and Luz's cries echo louder.

Darius: *sighs annoyed* Why are you like this?

Seeing that they were distracted, Raine used this chance to use the last little remaining magic they had to cut through the abomination and escape. They quickly ran deep into the forest and tried to find a place to escape to. However they didn't get far when they felt a blade close to their neck. They turned around and saw the dragon guard pointing his weapon at them.

Dragon Guard: Leaving so soon?

Raine started to sweat nervously and tried to think of a way out of this. However their plan of escape was dashed out of the window when loud footsteps were heard. Raine looked up and saw Kikimora on top of an abomination soldier. The abomination soldier grabbed Raine and held them in the air as they struggled to break free.

Darius: *walks over to them* I told you we didn't need help!

Dragon guard: *puts his weapon away* Right, you two had things very undercontrol.

Eberwolf growled at the dragon guard but Darius put his hand up stopping the humanoid.

Darius: Anyway, get that ugly thing out of my face. And tell Alador he's a hack, while you're at it.

Kikimora: *looks at Raine* Emperor Belos was rather upset to learn that you had a hand in the recent raid incidents.

Raine: *smirks* Guess I can look forward to my own petrification, huh?

Kikimora: No. It'd be too much of a hassle to find a replacement.

Suddenly Kikimora's finger on her head started to lift revealing her other eye. The finger started to shine purple, while the covent sigil on Raine's arm started to spread throughout their body. Raine struggles in pain as it slowly made it's way up to their eyes.

Kikimora: The Emperor needs you alive and well the Day of Unity. But until then, [Waves.] night-night.

Then everything went dark.

(BOOM! Chapter completed!

As you can see this chapter focused on Eda. This was mostly her going through her adventure with her old friend/Ex Raine. As we can see both Raine and Eda knew Igneel a long time ago. And it seems that he gave both of them a necklace. Curious isn't it?

Even though she had a short appearance, Viney did help out Luz and King with their training.

For Y/N I had him go to Gongaga to learn more about what to do with his current situation. Being there Aerith told him about the story of what happened between Her and Zack. She just doesn't want Y/N to make the same mistake she had made.

Sorry for taking so long to update. Feb wasn't a good month for me and I couldn't focus on working on the story at all. But now I am back and going to get as many chapters as I can for all of you!
