Summary: A woman besides Belle was trapped in the mental ward of the hospital. Jefferson breaks them free, telling them to go and see Mr. Gold. What will Mr. Gold think of being reunited with both women? Book 1 of The Forgotten Sorceress.

Authoress Note: Welcome to the rewrite of Show the Truth. I decided to keep the name of the story but rewrite the whole thing instead of having Mel with August. She'll be somewhere else. I hope that the rewrite goes a bit better than the last one. I hope that you enjoy this new version of the story. Without further ado Chapter 1 of Show the Truth.

Chapter 1

A woman with black hair messed up from having her fingers run through it a lot. Her blue eyes were glued to the white wall. She had sat there many a day not seeing much of anyone or anything. A shell of herself that she thought she knew that she was. A soft breath left the woman's lips as she blinked a few times hearing a man in the hallway.

"Your tea." The man spoke in a soothing tone.

"Thank you. What's the commotion upstairs?" The nurse was rather confused.

"There's a sick boy, he took a bad turn."

"How tragic. Is there any hope for a-"

"Recovery? Doubtful."

The woman got up to her feet as she heard one door open. Confusion was written across her face. No one ever came down here other than Regina who only would treat her and the other person locked up in here cruelly.

"Come with me."

"Who are you? Why are you doing this?" A woman's soft voice said softly.

"Come with me… I have one more person to get out of here."

She heard the clicking to her door and a soft gasp left her lips as she saw it swing open. In all her time here, the door has only been opened for food and drink, nothing else. But now someone was letting her out. "Who… who are you?" She asked in a raspy voice, from not being used in a while.

"My name is Jefferson, and I need your help to do something that I can't do. There's a man, his name is Mr. Gold. Find him. All you have to do is tell him where you've been, and that Regina locked you both up."

"Wait a minute, what?" The brown-haired woman asked confusedly, tilting her head to the side, trying to understand what Jefferson wanted them to do.

"You want us to find a man that we don't even know?"

"It's very important. Mr. Gold's gonna protect you, but you have to tell him Regina locked you up. He's gonna know what to do. You understand?"

The two women looked at one another and nodded their heads.

"Yes, w-we have to find Mr. Gold."

ONCE

The two women walked down the sidewalk looking around trying their best to find Mr. Gold.

"It would help if he tried to tell us where to go." The brown-haired woman said softly.

The dark-haired woman looked around. "A pawn shop… maybe we'll have some luck there, Belle."

"Perhaps you're right, Mel."

Mel smiled a small smile. She hoped that she would be able to regain her memories and who Mr. Gold was. According to Jefferson, he was someone important, and who would forget someone so important?

The two women stopped in front of the Pawn Shop and took deep breaths.

"Here goes nothing," Mel said softly as she opened the door before going in with Belle right behind her. "Excuse us, are you Mr. Gold?"

"Yes I am, but I'm afraid the shop's closed-" He turned, looking at the two women, recognizing both of the women that stood before him.

"We were told to find and tell you that Regina locked us up. Does that mean anything to you?" Belle questioned softly.

He reached out and touched Belle first and then Mel. "You're real… You're both alive. She did this to you?"

"We were told you'd protect us."

Mr. Gold embraced both women sobbing slightly knowing that this reunion was nothing to scoff at. He thought that both of these women were the ones he had thought about for years and he finally got to be with them again. His heart constricted in his chest some. "Oh Yes I'll prot,ect you both."

"Um, I'm sorry, do I-do I know you?" Belle questioned pulling back with Mel.

Mel looked at the man's face slightly confused seeing the recognition in his eyes. He knew them, but they didn't know him.

"No. But you will."

Mel's brow raised slightly in confusion. It was baffling that the two of them didn't know who he was. Her heart clenched in her chest as if something was missing in her heart.

ONCE

They walked through the woods in a direction that Mr. Gold seemed so sure of.

Mel wrapped her arms around herself as she walked.

"Wait," Belle said looking up to Mr. Gold.

Mr. Gold shook his head. "No, no. We're very close."

"Rumplestiltskin, wait." Belle caught up to him after he stopped. "I-I remember. I-I love you." She said hugging him.

"Yes, yes."

"Rummy." Mel's voice came out softly, looking at him with tears in her eyes. "I love you…"

"And I love you, too. But hey, there'll be time for that. There'll be time for everything. But first, there's something I must do."

Mel stopped at the wishing well looking at Mr. Gold with a look on her face.

"What is this?" Belle asked softly.

"This is a very special place, Belle. The waters that run below are said to have the power to return that which one has lost." He explained as he dropped the True Love potion into the well below.

"Bringing back everything that should be and always have been," Mel said softly as her blue eyes were glued to the purple smoke that was rising out of the well and spreading outwards.

ONCE

"I-I don't understand…"

"We're in a land without magic, Belle, and I'm bringing it. Magic... is coming."

"Why?"

Mel looked at Belle. "Why? Because magic... is power. And without it Rummy and I are nothing." She could feel the power returning to her body that had been worn down and distressed in that padded room. A room that she wished that she would never be back in.

This is the end of Chapter 1. I know it's a bit on the short side but I'm trying to make it long enough to read. We're starting at the end of season 1 of Once. And we will be doing season 2 in this story as well. I can't wait to show you guys what is to happen during this story and who Mel is in this story.
