Chapter 1: As Fate Would Have It!

Bardock returned to Planet Vegeta after a long campaign against his latest target. He sighed wearily as his Attack Ball slammed down onto the landing pad. He'd been having his suspicions that Frieza was going to destroy them. Why else would he have sent out an army wide recall signal? He stepped out of the pod as one of the landing techs approached him. "Bardock! You're back! How'd it go?" the tech asked. Bardock simply ignored him and continued walking. "You shouldn't ignore me!" the tech responded. "I can, and will. You have nothing for me, Tato," Bardock replied, rather tersely. Tato flinched back at Bardock's harsh rebuttal of his attempted friendliness. "I'm going home. Do not tell anyone, or you're dead, got it?" Bardock growled. Tato shook his head fearfully. "Yes! I won't say a word!" he said. Bardock flashed an amused smile and stalked away.

A short walk later, he arrived at his home, which was rather sparse, given his station as a low-class warrior. Sighing, he strolled inside to greet his wife. "Gine! I'm here!" he called. "Coming!" came the reply from his beloved. Most Saiyans were not close to their children's other parent, viewing them as little more than a mate- only useful for breeding. Bardock and Gine were a rare exception- they truly cared for one another, despite who they were and where they lived. Most Saiyans didn't even practice natural births, either, preferring to combine DNA samples to genetically create a child. Bardock personally disliked this, choosing to be amongst those(generally the lower, poorer ranks who couldn't afford the expensive DNA blending) who created his child the old fashioned way.

Gine appeared shortly thereafter, her armor relatively pristine, given that she no longer actively fought, instead, she worked processing meat that the others ate. She gripped him tightly. "You're back!" she said, gleefully. Bardock nodded. "Come on. We're leaving," he said. "What? Leaving? I just got Kakarot to sleep! And you just got here!" Gine responded, sounding a bit annoyed. "Yes. Now go get him. We're leaving," he replied. Gine sighed, but acquiesced to her husband's request. "Fine. But you need to tell me why," she said. "Because I think Frieza is about to wipe out the Saiyans," Bardock replied. Gine's eyes widened. "What?!" she asked. Her husband nodded affirmatively. "Why else would he call us all back here? It's the only thing that makes any sense," he said. Gine nodded her head. "I see…" she said, quietly. "Where are we going?" she asked. "Far from here. Hopefully, they won't find us," Bardock answered. "I've been…performing some calculations, and if I'm right, there should be a sufficiently remote planet for us to hide on," he said. Gine looked right at him. "I love you, but you're hopeless with that kind of thing," she replied. Bardock sighed. "Okay, I had help," he said. "I couldn't do all of that myself."

"From who?" his wife questioned. "Turles," he replied. Gine then glared at him, as if she was trying to melt through his skull with a mere look. "When has your brother ever told you something even remotely approaching the truth? The man is a pathological liar," she said. Bardock rolled his eyes. "I know that he's not the most trustworthy. But it's the only way to save our kid," he replied. Gine sighed, defeated. "I don't like it," she said. "Look. I know it's a risky plan. But I'm not cold hearted enough to send my own flesh and blood away all by his lonesome," Bardock said.

Gine remained silent for several moments afterward. "Alright. Let's go," she said, releasing her grip on her husband. Bardock nodded. "I'll wait right here. You go get our boy," he said. Gine nodded and disappeared down the hallway. A couple minutes later, she returned to the living room, cradling their sleeping child in her arms. "How are we getting off world?" she asked. "Turles procured us one of the larger Attack Balls. It can hold up to four people," Bardock answered. "How did he do that?" Gine asked. "Who knows. That man has connections that he probably shouldn't," Bardock replied.

"Makes sense…" Gine said, trailing off. Bardock noticed that. "Is there something wrong?" he asked. "No…I'm just wondering how we'll adjust," she answered. "Adjust to what?" he asked, concerned now that his wife's usually cheery attitude was missing. "Living on another world," she said, almost sullen. "Look. We're used to this, but we'll adjust. Besides, this planet is a hellhole unless you're a rich elite," Bardock said, attempting to encourage her, which didn't exactly work as intended.

She looked up at him, her eyes containing a faint glimmer of hope, and then looked back down at their son. She said nothing, and refused to take her eyes off of the sleeping Kakarot. "What about Raditz?" she asked, her eyes still glued to her youngest child. "He's off with Prince Vegeta and that idiot Nappa. The arrogant assholes probably ignored the recall signal," Bardock said. Gine looked up at him then. "We can't leave him with them!" she said, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. "I'll go look for him eventually. We need to focus on leaving right now," Bardock replied, though that did little to assuage her. Nonetheless, it calmed her enough to leave.

Two hours later….

The three of them arrived at the landing area later than expected, given numerous delays. Most wondered where Bardock was going with his woman and child. However, none actively questioned him, apart from a patrol or two, but he'd managed to talk their way out of those situations. "Turles better be here…" he grumbled as they approached. "I am," a familiar voice growled. Gine's face turned to a scowl. "Turles," she practically spat. Turles laughed. "Ah, Gine. Still don't like me," he said. "Never have," Gine replied. Turles laughed again. "I see why my brother likes you so much," he said. "Cut to the chase, Turles," Bardock interjected, gruffly. Turles then turned his attention to his brother. "Fine. Take this," he said, passing over the pod's remote. "I trust that you know how to use it?" he asked. Bardock nodded. "Of course. Now take us to it," he replied. Turles smirked. "Always so pushy," he said, "but I'll oblige."

Bardock rolled his eyes. He now remembered why he rarely spoke to his brother. The man was insufferable. He despised him, that much he was sure of. And he was pretty sure that the feeling was mutual. Turles was just better at projecting a facade of politeness and civility, which Bardock thought was a pointless waste of effort. Even though they were near identical twins, or perhaps despite it, they hadn't really been on good terms since before their parents died. He held back his scathing remarks as Turles led them to the pod. If it wasn't for the presence of his wife and child, Bardock might've challenged his brother to a fight right here and now. But that would have to wait- he was more concerned with getting his family off of this planet. This doomed planet.

After a short walk, the four approached the pod. "Here it is," Turles said. Bardock nodded and pressed the button to open it. The interior was identical to the standard Attack Balls, but larger, since it was created to carry up to four people at once. "Go in, babe. I need to speak with my brother," Bardock said, in an uncharacteristically soft tone. Gine nodded and crawled into the pod, taking care not to wake her sleeping child. Bardock then tossed her the remote. "Keep up with this for me," he said. Gine nodded, clutching it with her free hand. Bardock then walked away with Turles, far enough to be out of his wife's earshot, but not so far away that he couldn't still see her.

"I need to talk to you," Bardock said. "Oh? About what?" Turles responded. "I don't know exactly what happened between us, but I want to get it off my chest," Bardock said. Turles remained silent for a few moments. "Go on," he said, after a while. Bardock nodded and then continued. "I want you to know that I do care about you, little brother." "Even if I hate your guts sometimes." It pained Bardock to admit that he did still care about his brother's well being on some level. Turles remained quiet for a spell once more. Eventually, he spoke up. "I feel the same, big bro," he said, a sly smirk crossing his face. Bardock gave him a sort of half smile. "Good. Now, do me a favor and go find my older son," he said. "Raditz? I can do that," Turles said. "Thanks…" Bardock replied, turning to leave. Turles then caught his attention with his last assertion. "I'm going to go find our sister," he said. Bardock stopped in his tracks, a pained expression forming on his face. Not that Turles could see it, though. "Taro is dead. Looking for her is a waste of time," he said, before resuming his walk. "I refuse to believe that," Turles thought to himself as he watched Bardock leave.

Gine greeted him as he settled into the pod. "Take this back," she said, passing him the remote so that she could cradle their son with both of her arms. He chuckled and took it, pressing the button to close the door. He inputted the coordinates he'd charted and launched the pod. Turles smiled as he watched the pod take off. Perhaps he'd go looking for his brother one day. For now, he was heading back to his own ship-he didn't intend to stay on Planet Vegeta any longer.

Turles turned to leave the area, only to be approached by Tato. "You didn't see an Attack Ball launch from here, did you?" he asked. Turles shook his head. "No, Tato, I didn't," he replied. "Are you sure?" Tato asked. Turles sighed. "No. Now scram before you make me lose my temper," he said. "Why so aggressive, Turles? Just answer the damn question," Tato replied. That was his last mistake. "Now you've done it!" Turles snarled, rushing forward. Tato was sent flying by the sudden attack. Before he could recover, Turles slammed his knee into his chest. He then proceeded to send him flying with a punch to the face. "Begone! Calamity Blaster!" Turles shouted, unleashing his signature move. Tato's face contorted with fear as he realized what was happening, but was powerless to stop it. Turles smiled as the blast incinerated Tato, leaving nothing behind except ash, which blew away in the wind. He then moved on with his business, leaving the landing docks far behind. "Perhaps Bardock has made it far away by now…." he thought to himself. "Eh…not really my business anymore…now, where would Raditz be….?"

Elsewhere, in space…..

Bardock and his family rocketed away from Planet Vegeta. "I'm going to turn the stasis on now," Bardock said. "This'll be a long trip, and I'd rather not dawdle." Gine nodded. "Right. I'm bracing myself. It's been a long time since I rode in one of these things," she said. Bardock chuckled and activated the cryogenic suspension system. It was not going to be pleasant, but it was the only way they were going to make it to their destination. This would be a long, long journey, and he wanted to be ready. Bardock thought back to his life, and how it was full of violence and despair. All he could think about was how he didn't want his son exposed to that- how he wanted his son to be better than he was.

He thought back to that fight on Cereal all those years ago, and how he'd thought of his newborn son Kakarot. And his beloved Gine. He then suddenly felt an uncharacteristic twinge of regret for his past actions. He buried that feeling down within as he began to lose consciousness. The cryogenic fluid overtook him shortly thereafter, and he went into stasis. He'd be free of his old life soon enough. On the other side of the planet, Turles rocketed away from Planet Vegeta in his personal ship. He had two goals: find his sister, and find his nephew- everything else was secondary. "Frieza can eradicate that useless dust ball if he wants! I only care about my goals!" Turles thought to himself. "I will rule this universe someday, and Frieza must die!" "But how to gain that power…?" he wondered.

He then shrugged. That was a question for another time, however, as he noticed Frieza's ship arriving in orbit around Planet Vegeta. "So…he is going to eradicate the planet…" he thought, as he kicked his ship's engines to the maximum speed. Frieza himself emerged from the top of said vessel as he departed, charging an attack of some kind. Turles kicked on his ship's warp drive- he did not want to be nearby when Frieza launched that attack.

There were hordes of Frieza's men nearby as a suicidal charge of surviving Saiyan warriors attempted to attack him. Turles recognized some of them as his brother's old squadmates- were they really that stupid? Perhaps they were merely desperate…maybe he should've recruited them. Oh well. His musings were then interrupted by another voice.

"Where the hell are we going?" said voice demanded. "Fasha?" Turles asked, confused. "Oh, come on! When I said I'd mate with you, I meant it!" she said. Turles recalled that conversation- he'd asked her to help him produce an heir. "Yeah? Then why are your friends suicidally charging Frieza?" he asked. "Because they're idiots," she answered. Turles considered that for a few minutes. "That…would explain it. How'd you guys survive Dodoria?" he asked. "He just left, rather than finish the job. Don't know why," Fasha answered. "Bardock found us. Dragged us back."

"I'm guessing this means that he told you about his suspicions?" he asked. Fasha nodded. "Yeah. And I told them that we should get off the planet. They laughed me off, said they were going off to fight Frieza," she replied. "What about you, then?" Turles asked. "I left to find you. Decided that producing an heir that might one day avenge us was better than staying behind to die," Fasha answered.

Turles smiled. "Ah. But why were you on my ship?" he asked. The female Saiyan looked slightly embarrassed. "I came aboard looking for you, but you weren't here. Then I took a nap. When I woke up, we were here," she said. Turles laughed a little. "Well…perhaps you would be amenable to having some…fun?" he asked. She shot him a glare, not caring for that insinuation. "I'll take that as a no, then," Turles said. "I'll be elsewhere. Call if you need me," Fasha replied, strolling off the bridge. Turles laughed to himself as they continued on their way- as Frieza reduced Planet Vegeta to nothing.

Several months later…..

The large Attack Ball carrying Bardock and his family reached its destination at last, heading down towards the surface of the planet. It slammed down in the middle of a forest, coming to a rest after a significant trip across the stars. The cryogenic suspension systems then shut down slowly, thawing out its occupants, who regained consciousness soon after. "Where are we, exactly?" Gine asked, clutching her head, which was throbbing. Young Kakarot sat in her lap, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings. "Who knows. All I know is that this planet is far out of Frieza's reach. Don't think he even knows that it exists," Bardock said.

"Then how did Turles know about this place?" Gine asked. "Who knows. He claims to have scouted the place out in the past as a target. Or a hideout, don't know which," Bardock replied. "Should we go looking for locals? You know, get some food and shelter?" Gine asked. Bardock moved his hand to his chin, as if he were in deep thought. "Probably. Turles said that this planet is called Earth, but gave me pretty much nothing else to go on," he said, after a few moments.

Gine grit her teeth. "That's…not great. Sounds exactly like something that slimy punk would do," she said. Her husband nodded. "Yeah. Either he didn't know much about this planet, or he was intentionally withholding information," he said. "I'd bet on the second," Gine said, sighing. Bardock shook his head in agreement. "Yeah, he's like that. Never tells you anything straight out…" he said. "Now let's get out of this thing."

They'd been out of the ship for all of ten minutes when an old man in an unfamiliar outfit approached them. Bardock immediately raised his guard. "Who are you?" he demanded. "So hostile…" the old man said, looking him over. "I take it that you're not from around here?" he asked.

"You could put it that way," Bardock said tersely, not relaxing his guard. "You see, I'm not going to hurt you," the old man said. "You seem far stronger than me anyway."Bardock wasn't sure what to make of that, but it did convince him to lower his guard as the old man stepped closer. "You remind me of someone I once met…" he said.

Bardock gave him a confused look. "Ah, nothing. Merely the ramblings of an old man," he said. "Now. Would you like something to eat?" he nodded. "Yes! That would be most appreciated!" she said, politely. The old man smiled. "Then follow me to my home," he said. Gine nodded and followed as he turned to walk away. Bardock rolled his eyes, but followed her anyway. "This planet is already getting on my nerves…" he thought to himself.

At the old man's house….

They arrived at the kindly old man's home shortly thereafter. "You may come in," he said, opening the door. Gine nodded and stepped inside, carrying her son in her arms. Bardock stepped inside not long after, examining the place. It was small, compact, and sparsely decorated, which wasn't surprising, given that there seemed to be only one old man living here. Said old man approached with a pot of tea. "It will take me a short time to prepare some food. Something to drink?" he asked, pouring some tea into his cup. "No thank you," Gine said, politely. Bardock simply grunted in response, not bothering to use his words. The old man nodded, and simply picked up his cup, taking a sip. "You know, it dawned on me that I haven't introduced myself," he said. "The name's Son Gohan."

"Right. My name is Gine. The one you spoke to earlier is my husband, Bardock," Gine replied, smiling. Gohan nodded. "Nice to meet you, Gine, Bardock," he said. "Nice to meet you too!" Gine said, smiling once more. Bardock, in contrast, simply gave a non-committal grunt. Gine glared at him, but he didn't bother to say a word. He simply stalked over and sat down next to her. "Don't worry about him. He's just grouchy," Gine said. Gohan smiled. "Of course. How about your little one?" he asked, casting his eyes to the toddler sitting in his mother's lap. "Oh! This is Kakarot, our son," Gine answered. Gohan smiled and waved at him. Kakarot flinched back and hid his face against his mother's body. "He's a little shy," Gine said, smiling. "I see," Gohan said. "I will prepare some food."

Gine nodded. "We'll be right here," she replied. Gohan nodded in reply and headed into the kitchen, and Bardock finally spoke. "I hate this place already," he said. Gine chuckled at her husband's discomfort. "Look, we're stuck here. That pod doesn't have enough fuel to take us anywhere after a trip like that," she replied. Bardock closed his eyes and exhaled. "Don't remind me," he said. His wife laughed at that, much to his chagrin.

Half an hour later, Gohan returned. "If you'd follow me to the dining room, I've finished the food," he said. Gine nodded. "Lead the way," she said, standing up. Young Kakarot was still burying his face in his mother's chest as she did so. Bardock said nothing, but stood up after his stomach audibly rumbled. Gohan chuckled as he led the Saiyan family into his dining room. Within it sat a table with four chairs arrayed around it. Atop said table sat three bowls of noodles, as well as a platter of meat. "I rarely have visitors these days, but please, come sit," he said, setting himself down in one of the chairs. Gine nodded and sat in the chair across from him, still cradling her son in her lap. Bardock said nothing and sat down in the chair beside her, enticed by the smell of the food.

"It smells very good," Gine said, almost salivating. "Of course. Help yourself to it," Gohan said, a kind smile crossing his face. Gine nodded and began eating, finding both the noodles and the meat to be the best thing she'd eaten in a very long time. Bardock had similar feelings, not that he'd express them. Gohan ate slowly, laughing at their speed in demolishing their portions. Gine sat some aside, which she managed to coax her son into eating. Once he'd tasted it, however, he gobbled it down without hesitation.

Once they'd finished their ravenous demolition of the food, Gohan spoke up. "Did you enjoy it?" he asked. Gine nodded. "Yes sir. Thank you," she said. Gohan smiled. "My pleasure. Now let's get down to business. Are you in need of a place to stay?" he asked. "Yes," Bardock said, the terse tone from earlier absent from his voice. Gohan nodded again, standing up. "Come. I have a guest room. Let me show it to you," he said. Gine nodded, doing the same, with Kakarot still refusing to leave her arms. Bardock said nothing, merely standing up and following his wife.

A few minutes later, they stood in the guest room, which was small, like the living room. "It's not much, but it will do for now," Gohan said. Gine nodded. "Thank you for letting us stay here," she said. Gohan smiled once more. "You're most welcome, Gine. You and your family may stay here as long as you need," he said. "Thank you," Gine said. "How can we repay you?" she asked. "It's nothing. I enjoy helping others," Gohan said. "Let me know if you need something."

"We could use a bath," Gine said, noting that she and her husband were quite sweaty. Gohan nodded. "I can help with that," he said. Gine nodded, flashing a grateful smile.

Later that night….

Gine and Bardock settled into the bed in Gohan's guest room. Kakarot was sound asleep in an old crib that Gohan happened to have on hand. Gine wondered where he'd gotten it from, considering that he was the only one around, but she didn't pry.

"We need to ditch the armor," Gine said, holding her husband close. Both were lying entirely naked, given that their only sets of clothes were dirty and sweaty from their journey. "Why should we do something that dumb?" Bardock asked. "Because we need to blend in!" Gine replied. "If everyone on this planet looks like Gohan, we'll be able to easily blend in with them as long as we hide our tails! We just need to dress like them."

Bardock considered her words for a moment. "Alright. I don't like it, but I see the wisdom in it," he said. Gine smiled. "I'm glad you agree with me…Now let's have a bit of fun," she said. Bardock smiled a bit at that last part. "Why didn't you lead with that?" he asked. Gine laughed. "Heh…maybe I should've…" she said. Bardock interrupted her with a kiss. "Don't ruin it. Be quiet," he said. She smiled and nodded, moving closer to him.

The next morning….

Bardock awoke the next morning, finding Gine still there with him. Kakarot was still asleep, not making a sound. Gine stirred a few seconds later. "Ah…I needed that sleep…" she mumbled as she sat up. "Morning," he said. "Morning," she replied with a yawn. "Wonder where the old man is?" he questioned. Gine sat up, fully conscious. "Who knows? Maybe he went outside?" she offered.

"Eh. Maybe," Bardock responded. "We do need some clothes that aren't nasty," he said. His wife nodded. "I do agree with you on that," he said, casting her eyes to the armor that was haphazardly scattered in the corner of the room. Bardock glanced in that direction as well. "Yeah. Yeah, we can do that…" he said. Gine chuckled a bit. "We can't exactly go out there like this," she said. "What? You mean naked? Of course not," Bardock replied. Gine sighed at her husband's bluntness and lack of tact. She'd thought that she'd be used to it by now. Before she could admonish him, however, he moved to a different subject.

"I wonder if Turles got off of Planet Vegeta before Frieza turned it into space dust," he said. Gine shrugged. "Knowing him, he probably left as soon as he gave us that pod," she said. "I guess. Probably. I wonder if we could find him?" Bardock replied. "Maybe. But I don't know where we'd even look," Gine said. "Yeah, you're probably right," Bardock said, taking a deep breath. "Alright, let's get dressed and go look for our host. Maybe he'll know what to do about our little problem," he added. His wife nodded.

Ten minutes (and a lot of sorting) they stood, fully dressed in their respective armors. The grimy, sweaty feeling of said armor was very much unwelcome. "We either need to wash these, or find something else to wear," Gine said, feeling very much uncomfortable. Bardock simply laughed and stretched a bit. Gine glared at him. "You infuriate me sometimes," she said.

Bardock immediately stopped laughing and turned to face her. "Alright…I apologize. Can you not be mad at me?" he said. His wife nodded. "Apology accepted. Now don't be like that ever again," she replied. Bardock nodded obediently as she gently woke Kakarot. "Come on. We're going for a walk," she said. The boy's eyes fluttered open as he stretched his arms out, indicating that he wanted his mother to carry him. Smiling, she reached down and picked him up, cradling him in her arms. "Let's go," she said. Bardock nodded.

"Right. Let's go look for Gohan," he said, treading carefully. He didn't want his wife mad at him. That would not end well for him. Last time he made her mad, she told him that there would be no sex for a month. Which made his de-stressing ritual a lot harder than usual- he wanted to avoid that punishment at all costs. He might not be the best at showing it, but he treasured her immensely. And every single time he upset her, he regretted it. A lot.

They strolled outside, noting that a good chunk of the area was wrecked due to the pod they'd landed in.

"Guess our landing did some damage…" Bardock said, observing the bent and broken trees following a trail through the woods. The destruction was caused by the pod, obviously. This kind of thing is why planets controlled by Frieza had specialized landing areas- to avoid damaging the surface. "Let's go. Gohan might've gone to check out the damage," Gine said. Bardock nodded. "Of course! Why didn't I think of that…?" he said. Gine laughed a bit. "Because you're dense, honey. Now let's go," she said.

Bardock attempted to form a witty comeback, but was unable to. Instead, he simply followed his wife as they observed the trail of destruction created by their pod's arrival. At the end of said trail was a large crater with the pod sitting at the bottom. Surrounding the crater was a ring of bent and broken trees, forming a sort of fence around the landing site. "This is a bit worse than I thought…" Gine said.

Bardock nodded. "Yeah. Could've been a little better," he replied. Gine began to say something else, but found herself interrupted by a familiar voice. "Do you know what caused this?" Gohan asked, observing the area. They turned to face him as he approached. "Yeah. But it'll sound very weird," Bardock smirked a bit. "I have seen many strange things. One more shall not faze me," he said. Bardock nodded. "Alright, but don't freak out," he said, a bit gruffly. Gohan ignored his tone as the Saiyan began to explain how this destruction came about….

One hour later, Gohan's house….

"So…you three are from another planet? And your spaceship caused that destruction when it landed?" Gohan asked, not seeming the least bit fazed by any of this. "That's the gist. Honestly expected you to be more surprised," Bardock responded. Gohan chuckled. "I told you. I've seen a lot of strange things in my life. Aliens are not the weirdest thing I've ever heard," he said. "Your strength feels immense…Perhaps I could teach you a few things?"

Bardock considered this a moment. "Maybe, but I need some food," he said. Gohan smiled. Of course. I will make some breakfast," he said. Gine gave him a thankful nod as he left to do so. She then turned to her husband. "We forgot to ask him if he could help us with our need for clothes…" she said.

"Damn…we did, didn't we?" Bardock said. "Bardock! Our son is here!" Gine snapped, slapping his arm. "Ow! Alright! No swearing in front of the kid!" he said. "Thank you," she said, smiling sweetly. Bardock nodded obediently, before asking another question. "We would also need our own place, don't you think?"

Gine nodded. "Of course we would," she said. "But that would take money…and we don't have any," she added, sighing. "But we could get some," Bardock said. "That's probably easier said than done," Gine sighed. "Don't give up! You're the most hopeful person I've ever met," Bardock said, reassuring her. Gine smiled at him. "Thanks for the reassurance," she said. Bardock nodded. "You're welcome," he said. "Now…let's get ready for the next thing: breakfast!"

Gine smiled at that. "I am hungry," she said. Bardock gave a half smile. "I'd be more surprised if you weren't," he said, eliciting laughter from his wife. After a short time, Gohan returned. "Breakfast is ready," he said. They nodded and followed him into the dining room to eat. "We've thought about it, and we don't really have any clothes other than the ones we were already wearing," Gine said, "but we don't have any money."

Gohan looked at her silently for a short time. "I will help you with that," he said, with a smile. "Thank you," Gine said. "It's nothing, truly," Gohan said, "Now, I expect that you may want your own dwelling. That is doable, but will be substantially harder to pull off."

For the first time in a while, Bardock spoke up. "You said something about teaching?" he asked. Gohan nodded. "Yes, if you wish, I can teach you my fighting techniques. You may find them useful," he said. "Maybe…" Bardock said. "I need to go out and exercise for a bit. We can do other things later," he said, getting up and strolling outside. "I will test him. You may come and learn from me as well," he said to Gine, who sat watching. She nodded. "Of course!" she said, cheerfully, getting up and following him outside to find her husband. Bardock stepped outside and powered up, before flying a short distance away. "This'll be suitable…" he said to himself, observing the area around him.

He then started his training, leading off with physical attacks. He was working out his frustrations, and didn't really want any interruptions. In the back of his mind, the thought of Frieza and his minions lingered- he did not want them to discover them here. It wasn't likely, but Bardock found himself unable to not worry about it. "Those damn bootlickers better not discover this planet…" he thought, continuing his training.

Hopefully, with some luck, Frieza would remain ignorant to this planet's existence, and he could remain in peaceful retirement (self-exile?) on this planet, far from his old life. He wanted his son to be able to grow up in peace- have a better childhood than he did, which wasn't hard, considering where he grew up. Planet Vegeta was an awful place, and deserved whatever Frieza did to it. Especially the royal family- Bardock would actively celebrate the death of King Vegeta III. Screw that guy, really- the woman stealing jackass. Bardock quickly banished that thought, and went back to what he was doing.
